Home tuition tutoring
Why home tuition is the better-paid option here
Most platforms take a percentage of every class you ever teach. We do not, for home tuition. The first month with each new student is split 50-50 — that is our one-time fee for finding the family, arranging the demo and setting up the match — and from the second month we take nothing at all, for as long as the engagement lasts.
Over a long engagement that arithmetic becomes substantial. A student you teach for two years pays you roughly 98% of everything they are billed. Six months works out around 92%. That is the deliberate trade: we only make money from home tuition by introducing you to new students, so the only way we stay useful to you is to keep doing it.
What home tuition costs you is travel, and that is the part we try hardest to get right. You list the specific areas, sectors or neighbourhoods you can genuinely reach, and we only send you requests inside them. You are never penalised for declining a location, and you never have to explain why.
First month 50-50, then 100% yours — per student, not per platform
You define your travel zones and can change them whenever you like
We invoice and collect from the family; you never ask for money
No joining fee, no subscription, no exclusivity

You set your own monthly or per-class fee and we publish it unchanged. The family sees it before they book the demo, so there is no negotiation after you have taught. What we take is fixed and depends only on how long you keep teaching that student.
The split is per student. Each new student you take on has their own first month at 50-50, so a tutor adding a student every month will always have one engagement in its first month. That is the cost of growth, and it falls away for every student who stays.
If a student stops partway through the first month, the 50-50 split applies only to the fees actually paid for classes that took place. You are never billed against work you did not do.
Two subjects for the same student is one engagement at your combined fee
Siblings in the same house are separate students, each with their own first month
Classes you cancel are not billed to the family, so they are not paid

What we look for in an IB or IGCSE tutor
The subject bar is the same as for our online tutors. What is additional for home tuition is reliability and a realistic view of your own travel.
Subject command at the level you teach
A degree or teaching qualification in the subject, or a demonstrable track record with IB or IGCSE students at that level. You should be comfortable a level above what you teach.
Knowledge of the IB or IGCSE assessment model
You should be able to talk about how your stage is assessed — criteria and task-specific clarifications in MYP, internal assessment and grade boundaries in DP, your board's papers and mark schemes at IGCSE.
Government photo ID for verification
Reviewed before your profile goes live. This is an identity check, not a police or criminal-records check, and your profile says so rather than implying more. It matters more here because you are entering a family's home.
Realistic, reliable travel to the zones you list
List only areas you can reach consistently in traffic, in monsoon, on a weekday evening. Over-listing produces cancellations, and cancellations are what end home engagements.
Willingness to follow safeguarding rules without exception
Teaching in a common area with an adult in the house is not negotiable. If a family offers you a closed room, you ask to move. A breach ends the engagement.
Your own transportHelps, not required
Not required, but it widens your viable zones considerably and makes evening slots in outer areas workable where public transport would not.
How to start
From application to your first paid class
The application takes about twenty minutes, and the travel-zone step is the one worth spending time on — it determines every request you will receive.
1
Send your profile
List your subjects and levels, then your travel zones: the specific areas, sectors or neighbourhoods you can reach. Add your available days and times and your fee.
2
Upload your ID and credentials
A government photo ID plus your degree, teaching qualification or examiner evidence. Our academic team reviews all of it before your profile goes live.
3
Profile and zone review
We check subject depth, and we sanity-check your zones against real travel times. If a zone looks unrealistic for an evening slot we will raise it rather than send you a request that fails.
4
Your verified profile goes live
Showing your subjects, levels, travel zones, availability and fee, with the verification badge earned by the ID check.
5
We send you students inside your zones
Matching puts tutors in the area first, then those who travel there. You see the area, subject, level, timing and mode before accepting, and you can decline without a reason.
6
Free demo at the home, then you start
The first class is a free demo at the student's home, with a parent present. The family already knows your fee. It is also your chance to see the room, the gate routine and the journey before committing.

Travel zones: the one thing that decides whether this works
The commonest reason a home-tuition engagement fails is not teaching. It is a journey the tutor could not sustain. A slot that looked fine on a Sunday afternoon becomes impossible on a Wednesday at 6pm, and after three late arrivals the family asks for someone else.
So be conservative when you list zones. Think in terms of the worst realistic journey, not the best: weekday evening traffic, monsoon, the walk from where you can park to the actual door. A tutor with four tightly-drawn zones and a full timetable earns far more than one who listed half the city and loses students to cancellations.
Our matching respects your list strictly. It shortlists tutors already in the area first, then tutors who have said they travel there, then zone-level and city-level options. You will not receive a request from outside your zones, and widening or narrowing them later takes a minute.
List zones by your worst realistic journey, not your best
Cluster your zones — two adjacent areas beat two across the city
Back-to-back students in one area is the most profitable pattern there is
You can change your zones at any time without affecting existing students
What to expect
Gated societies, gate passes and the practical side of arriving
A large share of IB and IGCSE families in Indian cities live in gated societies, apartment complexes or condominium developments, and each has its own visitor routine. Some need the resident to approve you in an app before you reach the gate. Some issue a repeat-visitor pass once they have seen your ID. Some require an entry in a register and a phone call to the flat every single visit.
None of this is difficult, but it adds between five and fifteen minutes to a first visit and it is worth planning for. Arrange the entry method with the parent before the demo class rather than standing at a gate while someone tries to reach them. For a recurring slot, ask in the first week whether a long-term visitor pass is possible — it removes the single most common cause of starting late.
Carry the photo ID you verified with us. Security will often ask for it, and the name on it matching the name the resident approved is what gets you through without a phone call.
Confirm the gate or app entry method with the parent before the first visit
Ask about a long-term visitor pass in your first week on a recurring slot
Carry the same photo ID you verified with us — names must match
Build 10 minutes of buffer into a first visit to a new society

Safeguarding in someone else's home
Almost every IB and IGCSE student is under 18, and teaching in a private home is the setting where child-protection rules matter most. Ours are not advisory. You teach in a common area of the home — a living room, a dining table, a study with the door open — with a parent, guardian or another adult in the house. You never teach a minor alone behind a closed door.
If a family offers you a bedroom or a closed study with nobody else home, you ask to move to a common area, and if that is not possible you do not teach that session. Families almost never object; the few who do are the reason the rule exists. Tell us if it happens.
The rest follows from the same principle. Communication about classes goes through the parent or guardian, or in a chat that includes them — not private social media contact with a student under 18. No gifts, loans, money or personal favours in either direction. Nothing is recorded without a parent's consent. If you ever believe a student is at risk of harm, tell us immediately.
These rules protect you as much as the student. A tutor who has always taught in the living room with a parent in the house is a tutor about whom a misunderstanding cannot easily develop.
Common area only, with an adult in the house — never behind a closed door
Ask to move rather than teach in a bedroom or an empty house
Communicate via the parent, or in a chat that includes them
No gifts, loans or money either way; no recording without parental consent
A breach ends the engagement, and where law requires it we report it
What to expect
Building a home timetable that actually holds together
The tutors who earn most from home tuition are not the ones charging the highest rate. They are the ones with a geographically tight timetable and students who stay for terms rather than weeks, because every student past their first month is paying them in full.
Two patterns work. The first is clustering: take students in two or three adjacent areas and schedule them back to back, so one journey covers two or three paid hours. The second is anchoring: hold weekend mornings for home students in your nearest zone and keep weekday evenings for the shortest journey you have.
A lot of our home tutors also take online students to fill the gaps that travel creates — a home student at 5pm and an online student at 8pm, with no second journey. The split is applied per class by mode, so you always know what you are keeping, and it hedges you against one home student stopping.

Tutor policy
The terms you are agreeing to
Summaries of our tutor policy. The safeguarding clause carries more weight in home tuition than anywhere else — read it in full before your first visit.
50-50 for the first month, then 100% yours
Each new home student's first month fee is split evenly as our one-time fee for the match. From month two we take nothing for as long as you keep teaching them. Per student, so each new student has their own first month.
The 50-50 split applies only to fees actually paid for classes that took place. You are never charged against work you did not do, and finding you a replacement is part of what the platform does.
Teach in a common area of the home with a parent, guardian or other adult in the house. Never teach a minor alone behind a closed door. Ask to move rather than accept a bedroom or an empty house. A breach ends the engagement.
Communication about classes goes through a parent or guardian, or a chat that includes them. No private social-media contact with a minor, no gifts, loans or money in either direction, and no recording without parental consent.
You may refuse any area, society, timing or student without giving a reason and without penalty — explicitly including home-tuition locations you would rather not travel to. This is written into the policy.
Fees for a calendar month's classes are paid on the 1st of the following month by bank transfer or UPI, with a statement listing every student, class, fee and split. We collect from the family and chase late payment.
Do not move a student we introduced to a private arrangement or take fees directly from the family. Home tuition is already 100% yours from month two, so there is nothing to gain; doing it leads to removal.
If a family or student is abusive, harasses you or discriminates against you, tell us. We step in and you are free to stop teaching that student. Before any action against your account we tell you the concern and hear your side.
Unusual, and deliberate. From the second month the whole fee is yours, which means the only way we stay useful is by introducing you to more students.
Requests never come from outside your zones
You define the areas you can genuinely reach and matching respects the list strictly. No requests from across the city that you have to turn down.
You never ask a family for money
We invoice, collect and chase late payment. A late-paying family becomes a line on your next payout once received, not a conversation you have to have in their living room.
The demo is your assessment too
The first class is a free demo at the home. You see the room, the gate routine and the real journey before committing to a recurring slot.
Declining costs you nothing
No penalty, no ranking drop, no reason required — for a location, a society, a timing or a student. The right to say no is in the policy, not just in practice.
Long engagements, not one-off sessions
IB and IGCSE are multi-year courses, so home engagements tend to run for terms. That is exactly the shape the 100%-from-month-two split rewards.
Tutor questions
Questions from applying tutors
Do I really keep 100% of the fee after the first month?
Yes, for home tuition. The first month with each new student is split 50-50 as our one-time fee for the match, and from the second month we take nothing for as long as you keep teaching them. Over two years that is about 98% of everything the family pays.
How do you decide which areas to send me?
You list them. Matching shortlists tutors already in the area first, then tutors who have said they travel there, then wider zone and city options. You never receive a request from outside the zones you listed, and you can change them at any time.
What if the journey turns out to be impossible?
Tell us and narrow your zones. The demo class is free and at the home precisely so you can test the real journey before committing. Declining a location carries no penalty, and over-listing zones is the most common reason a home engagement fails.
Can I teach in the student's bedroom or study if the parent suggests it?
No. You teach in a common area with a parent, guardian or other adult in the house, never alone with a minor behind a closed door. If a closed room is the only option offered, ask to move; if that is not possible, do not teach that session and tell us.
Do I need my own transport?
Not required, but it widens your viable zones considerably and makes weekday evening slots in outer areas workable. Many tutors without transport build a tight cluster of two or three nearby areas instead, which works well.
What about entry to gated societies?
Most IB and IGCSE families live in gated developments with their own visitor routines — app approval, a register, or a repeat-visitor pass. Agree the method with the parent before the first visit, carry the photo ID you verified with us, and ask about a long-term pass in your first week.
Can I teach two subjects to the same student?
Yes, and it is the most efficient thing you can do in home tuition — one journey, one engagement, your combined fee. It raises what you earn per visit without adding travel. Siblings are separate students, each with their own first month.
What if a student stops after two weeks?
The 50-50 first-month split applies only to the fees actually paid for the classes that took place, so you are never billed against work you did not do. Tell us and we will put you back into matching — finding you a replacement is part of what the platform fee covers.
Can I do home tuition and online classes at the same time?
Yes, and most of our home tutors do. The split is applied per class by mode, so home classes follow the 50-50-then-100% rule and online classes are a flat 70/30. Filling travel gaps with online students is the fastest way to a full timetable.
When do I get paid?
On the 1st of the month after the classes were taught — September's fees are deposited on 1 October. If the 1st is a Sunday or bank holiday the transfer goes the next working day, by bank transfer or UPI, with an itemised statement per student.
Is the verification a police check?
No. You upload a government photo ID which our team reviews before your profile goes live, and the badge reflects that identity check only. We do not describe it as a criminal-records check. The safeguarding rules — common area, adult present, no private contact — carry the rest.
What if a family is rude or makes me uncomfortable?
Tell us. If a family or student is abusive, harasses you or discriminates against you we step in, and you are free to stop teaching them with no penalty. Before any action is ever taken against your own account we tell you the concern and listen to your side.
List your subjects and the areas you can genuinely reach, set your fee and your hours, and we will send you students inside those zones. From the second month, every rupee of the fee is yours.
