IGCSE Business Studies tutor — Lucknow

Cambridge Business Studies and Economics in Lucknow, taught at home or online, built around the case-study answer structure these papers are marked on.

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh (home, hybrid or online) Freelance, part time or full time IGCSE Business Studies 0450 and Economics 0455

Role Overview

Business Studies is treated as a reading subject by students who then write definitions in an applied paper. The marks live in applying theory to the specific business in the case study and reaching a justified recommendation, and that is a structure that has to be taught rather than absorbed.

Job Description

Paper 2 is an unseen case study, so the preparation is repeated unseen practice rather than content revision.

Economics 0455 is often taken alongside, and students blur the two answer styles unless the distinction is taught explicitly.

Lucknow's international schools are concentrated in Gomti Nagar and along Sultanpur Road, which makes a hybrid week realistic.

You decide per student whether you teach at their home, online, or a mix of the two. Most engagements on this role start in person and move revision sessions online. In-person requests only come from Gomti Nagar, Hazratganj, Vibhuti Khand, Aliganj and the Sultanpur Road corridor.

In-person students follow the home tuition split: the first month is 50-50, then 100% is yours for as long as the engagement lasts. Online sessions pay you 70% of the fee with no first-month split. Both are paid out on the 1st of each month with an itemised statement.

Responsibilities

  • Work unseen case studies under timed conditions from the second month.
  • Teach the four-part answer structure until students use it without prompting.
  • Keep the Business and Economics answer styles distinct.
  • Plan each session around the student's current school unit rather than a syllabus order of your own.
  • Set and publish your own fee, and decline any student who is not a fit.
  • Report progress to the family at the review points agreed when the engagement starts.
  • Keep agreed session times and give at least 24 hours' notice through IB Gram if a session has to move.

Requirements

  • 0450 and 0455 to full paper standard, including the Paper 2 case study.
  • Teaching applied and evaluative answer structures, not content alone.
  • Command of Cambridge command terms and what each is marked for.
  • A degree in the subject or a closely related one. Teaching experience counts, but subject knowledge is checked first.
  • Verified government ID and at least one credential we can confirm with the issuing institution.
  • Two references we can contact, at least one from a school, college or family you have taught.
  • Reliable travel to the listed areas at the times you have offered, in real traffic.

Nice To Have

  • Commercial or management experience you can draw real examples from.
  • Experience with the specific school's internal assessment calendar.
  • Availability for a longer weekend slot in the eight weeks before mocks.

Benefits

  • You set your own fee and we publish it unchanged, so there is no negotiation after you have taught.
  • Students are matched to you by programme, subject and level before you accept.
  • No joining fee, no subscription and no exclusivity - teach elsewhere as well.
  • Monthly payouts on the 1st with an itemised statement.
  • You choose per student whether the engagement is in person, online or mixed.
