Women tutors tutoring
What control actually means here
Plenty of tutoring platforms say you can choose your own hours. Fewer are specific about what else you can refuse, and that is usually the part that matters. So, plainly: you choose your mode, and online-only is a perfectly normal choice that costs you nothing in matching. If you do take home students, you list the exact areas you will travel to and we never send you a request outside them. You can refuse any society, any address, any timing and any student, and you never have to explain the reason.
That right to decline is written into our tutor policy rather than left to the goodwill of whoever is staffing matching that day. There is no penalty, no drop in how often you are shown to families, and no record held against you.
A real part of the demand works in your favour, too. A meaningful share of families specifically ask for a woman tutor — most often for daughters, for younger PYP and MYP students, and for home tuition. If you teach a subject in demand and you are available in the after-school window, you will not be short of requests.
Online-only is a normal choice and does not reduce your matches
For home students, you list the exact areas — nothing comes from outside them
Decline any student, address, society or timing, no reason required

You set your own fee and we publish it unchanged; families see it before booking, so nobody negotiates with you after a class. What we take depends only on the mode you choose, never on your subject or your level.
Online is a flat 70% to you every month, with no reduced first month. It is the better fit if your availability is in scattered blocks, if you would rather not travel at all, or if you are fitting tutoring around a household and school run.
Home tuition is split 50-50 for the first month with each new student and is then 100% yours for as long as you teach them — about 92% of everything the family pays over six months, and roughly 98% over two years. It is the better-paid option if you can hold a regular slot nearby, and families requesting a woman tutor for home tuition are a large part of what comes in.

Eligibility
What we look for in an IB or IGCSE tutor
The bar is subject knowledge, not a continuous CV. We accept a great many tutors who have been out of paid work for several years, and a career break is not a mark against an application.
Subject command at the level you teach
A degree or teaching qualification in the subject, or a demonstrable track record with students at that level. You should be comfortable a level above what you teach.
Knowledge of the IB or IGCSE assessment model
How your stage is marked: MYP criteria and task-specific clarifications, DP internal assessment and grade boundaries, or your IGCSE board's papers and mark schemes. This is learnable, and we will point you at what to read.
Government photo ID for verification
Reviewed before your profile goes live. An identity check, not a police check, and your profile says exactly that. Families see that you are verified, which matters in both directions.
A setup for your chosen mode
Online needs stable broadband, a camera, a microphone and a quiet space you control. Home tuition needs reliable travel to the few areas you choose to list.
A continuous teaching recordHelps, not required
Not required. A break for family, relocation or caring responsibilities is common among our tutors and does not count against you. What we assess is whether the subject knowledge is still there.
Prior IB or IGCSE school experienceHelps, not required
Valued and weighted in review, but we take strong subject specialists from national-curriculum and university backgrounds who learn the assessment model.
How to start
From application to your first paid class
The application takes about twenty minutes and a person reads it. If you are returning after a break, say so — it changes nothing about how we assess the subject, and it helps us pitch your first matches sensibly.
1
Send your profile
List your subjects and levels, pick your mode, and if you want home students, list only the areas you will genuinely travel to. Set your available hours and your fee.
2
Upload your ID and credentials
A government photo ID plus your degree or teaching qualification. Your documents are used only to verify, match and pay you, and are never sold or shared.
3
Academic review
We check subject depth against the level you claimed. If it has been a while, we may suggest starting at a level below your ceiling and moving up once you have results on the platform.
4
Your verified profile goes live
Showing your subjects, levels, mode, chosen areas, availability and fee, with the verification badge from the ID check.
5
We send you matched requests
You see the student's stage, subject, level, area, timing and mode before you accept. Families who have asked for a woman tutor are matched to you first. Decline anything, without a reason.
6
Free demo, then you start
The first class is a free demo — at the home with a parent present, or over video. The family already knows your fee. If you took a home student, this is also your look at the journey and the room before you commit.
Teaching detail
Teaching online only, if that is what suits you
A large share of our women tutors teach exclusively online, and it is worth saying clearly that this is not a lesser option. The majority of IB and IGCSE work we place is online anyway, because subject specialists and the students who need them are rarely in the same city. Choosing online-only does not reduce how often you are matched.
What it does remove is all of the travel: no evening journeys, no unfamiliar addresses, no gate routines, no waiting outside a society while someone answers a phone. You teach from a space you control, on a platform we agree, with your camera on and a professional background.
It also widens your reach enormously rather than narrowing it. Online you are matched on subject and on whether a family's preferred slots overlap your published hours — not on distance. Tutors teaching from one Indian city routinely hold students in Dubai, Singapore, London and three other Indian cities in the same week.
For anyone fitting tutoring around a school run, a household or caring responsibilities, online is usually the mode that makes the arithmetic work, because an hour of availability is an hour of paid teaching rather than forty minutes of traffic either side of it.
Online-only does not reduce your matches — most of our work is online
No travel, no addresses, no gates, no waiting outside a building
Matched on subject and slot overlap, not on distance
An hour free becomes an hour paid, with no travel either side
What to expect
If you do teach at homes: choosing areas on your own terms
Some tutors want home students, and the economics are genuinely better over a long engagement — 100% of the fee from the second month. The way to do that comfortably is to be narrow and deliberate about where.
List only the areas you would be happy travelling to on a weekday evening, and keep them close together. Many of our home tutors list only the societies and neighbourhoods within a short distance of where they live, and nothing else. A tightly drawn list with a full timetable earns far more than a wide one that produces requests you keep refusing.
You can go further and restrict yourself to daytime slots only, or weekend mornings only, and still be matched — IB and IGCSE families include a lot of younger PYP and MYP students whose sessions happen in the afternoon rather than late evening. Setting your availability honestly is what makes those the requests you receive.
Arrange the gate or visitor-app routine with the parent before the first visit rather than at the gate, and carry the same photo ID you verified with us so the names match. For a recurring slot, ask in the first week whether the society will issue a long-term visitor pass.
List only nearby areas you are comfortable with — narrow beats wide
Daytime-only or weekend-only availability is a valid choice and still gets matched
Agree the gate or app entry routine with the parent before the first visit
Carry the photo ID you verified with us; ask about a long-term pass early

Safeguarding rules that protect you as well as the student
Nearly every IB and IGCSE student is under 18, so our child-protection rules are not advisory. They also happen to be the clearest protection you have, which is worth understanding before your first class.
In a home, you teach in a common area — a living room, a dining table, a study with the door open — with a parent, guardian or another adult in the house. You never teach a minor alone behind a closed door. If the only room offered is a bedroom or the house is empty, you ask to move, and if that is not possible you do not teach that session. Tell us when it happens.
Online, your camera stays on in a professional setting for the whole class, classes run on the agreed platform rather than a personal account, and nothing is recorded without the parent's written consent. Either way, communication about classes goes through the parent or guardian or in a chat that includes them — never private social-media contact with a student under 18.
And the rule that runs the other way: if a family or student is abusive, harasses you or discriminates against you, tell us. We step in, and you are free to stop teaching that student with no penalty of any kind. Before we would ever act on a concern about your own account, we tell you what it is and listen to your side first.
Home: common area, adult in the house, never behind a closed door
Online: camera on, agreed platform, no recording without written consent
All communication via a parent or a chat that includes them
Harassment or abuse from a family: tell us, we step in, you can stop teaching
Your ID, CV and bank details are used only to verify, match and pay you
What to expect
Coming back to teaching after a break
A good number of the tutors we take on have not been in paid work for a while — a few years out for family, a relocation that ended a teaching post, caring responsibilities that made a school timetable impossible. We assess whether you know your subject, not whether your CV has a gap in it.
What we would suggest, honestly, is starting slightly below your ceiling. If you taught Physics HL five years ago, begin with IGCSE Physics and DP Standard Level, get a term of results on the platform, and then ask us to raise your level. That is a far better experience than taking an HL student chasing a 7 in your first month and finding the syllabus has moved.
Two syllabus changes are worth knowing about if you have been away: IB mathematics was restructured into Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, which replaced the older Studies and Methods routes entirely, and most international IGCSE variants now report on the 9–1 grade scale rather than A*–G. Neither takes long to pick up, but both will come up in a demo class.
Start with two or three students rather than a full timetable. Online is usually the easier re-entry, because it removes travel from the variables you are managing in your first term back.

Tutor policy
The terms you are agreeing to
Summaries of our tutor policy. The protection and safeguarding clauses are the two worth reading in full before you accept a first student.
Your right to say no
You may decline any student, location, society, timing or subject without penalty and without giving a reason — explicitly including home-tuition locations you are not comfortable travelling to. This is a written clause, not a courtesy.
If a family or student is abusive, harasses you or discriminates against you, tell us. We step in and you are free to stop teaching that student. Before any action against your account we tell you the concern and listen to your side.
Teach in a common area with a parent, guardian or other adult in the house. Never alone with a minor behind a closed door. Ask to move rather than accept a bedroom or an empty house.
Camera on in a professional setting, classes on the agreed platform, no recording without parental consent, and all communication through a parent or a chat that includes them. No private social-media contact with a minor.
Your phone number, CV, ID and bank details are used only to verify you, match you and pay you, under our privacy policy and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We never sell your data.
Home tuition: 50-50 for month one, then 100% yours
Each new home student's first month fee is split evenly as our one-time fee for the match. From month two we take nothing for as long as you keep teaching them, per student.
A flat 70/30 in your favour, every month, with no reduced first month. The platform fee covers matching, demo scheduling, fee collection, chasing late payment and replacing a student who stops.
Fees for a calendar month's classes are paid on the 1st of the next month, by bank transfer or UPI to the account you give us, with an itemised statement. We collect from families and chase late payment.
Most of our IB and IGCSE work is online anyway. Choosing to teach exclusively online does not reduce how often you are matched or what you can charge.
Declining is a written right
Any student, address, society or timing, with no reason required and no penalty. It is a clause in the tutor policy rather than something you have to negotiate each time.
Families ask for women tutors
A meaningful share of requests specify a woman tutor — often for daughters, for younger PYP and MYP students, and for home tuition. Those requests are matched to you first.
A career break is not a problem
We assess subject knowledge, not CV continuity. Many of our tutors came back after several years out, and we will suggest a sensible level to restart at rather than reject the application.
You never discuss money with a family
Your fee is published before the demo, and we invoice, collect and chase late payment. No negotiating in someone's living room and no asking a parent for overdue fees.
Paid into your own account
Monthly, on the 1st, by bank transfer or UPI to the account you give us, with an itemised statement showing every student, class and fee.
Tutor questions
Questions from applying tutors
Can I teach only online and never travel?
Yes, and it is a completely normal choice here. Most of the IB and IGCSE work we place is online because subject specialists and the students who need them are rarely in the same city. Online-only does not reduce how often you are matched or what you can charge.
Can I restrict home tuition to areas near my own home?
Yes. You list the exact areas, societies or neighbourhoods you will travel to and we never send you a request from outside them. Many of our home tutors list only what is within a short distance of where they live. A narrow list with a full timetable earns more than a wide one you keep refusing.
Can I refuse a student or an address without explaining why?
Yes. The right to decline any student, location, society, timing or subject without giving a reason and without penalty is a written clause in our tutor policy. There is no drop in how often you are shown to families and nothing is recorded against you.
Do families specifically ask for women tutors?
A meaningful share do — most commonly for daughters, for younger PYP and MYP students, and for home tuition. Those requests are matched to women tutors first, so if you teach a subject in demand and are free in the after-school window you should expect steady requests.
I have not taught for several years. Will that count against me?
No. We assess whether you know your subject, not whether your CV is continuous. Breaks for family, relocation or caring responsibilities are common among our tutors. We would suggest restarting slightly below your ceiling and asking us to raise your level after a term of results.
What changed in the syllabuses while I was away?
Two things most likely to come up. IB mathematics was restructured into Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, replacing the older Studies and Methods routes. And most international IGCSE variants now report on the 9–1 grade scale rather than A*–G. Neither takes long to pick up.
Can I teach only in the daytime or only at weekends?
Yes. Set your availability honestly and those are the requests you will receive. There is real daytime and weekend-morning demand, particularly from younger PYP and MYP students whose sessions do not run late. There is no minimum number of hours.
What are the safeguarding rules in a family home?
You teach in a common area — living room, dining table, study with the door open — with a parent, guardian or another adult in the house, never alone with a minor behind a closed door. If only a bedroom is offered or the house is empty, ask to move; if that is not possible, do not teach that session and tell us.
What if a family is disrespectful or makes me uncomfortable?
Tell us. If a family or student is abusive, harasses you or discriminates against you, we step in and you are free to stop teaching them with no penalty. And before we would ever act on a concern about your own account, we tell you the concern and listen to your side first.
Who sees my phone number and address?
Your phone number, CV, ID and bank details are used only to verify you, match you and pay you, under our privacy policy and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. We never sell your data. Your contact details are not published on your public profile.
How and when am I paid?
On the 1st of the month after the classes, by bank transfer or UPI to the account you give us — never through an intermediary. September's fees are deposited on 1 October, with an itemised statement listing every student, class, fee and split.
Is there any fee to join?
No. No joining fee, no subscription, no charge to appear in matches and no charge to receive a request. We earn only from the commission split on classes that actually took place.
Pick your subjects, your mode, your hours and — if you want home students at all — only the areas you are comfortable with. Everything you decline costs you nothing. A person reads every application.
