Role Overview
Geography is a small-cohort subject at most Indian international schools, which means limited specialist teaching and almost no fieldwork support. The Internal Assessment at both levels depends on fieldwork, and helping a student design something feasible where they actually live is most of the value here.
Job Description
IGCSE 0460 includes a geographical skills paper and either coursework or the alternative paper, and the two routes need different preparation.
The DP Geography IA is a fieldwork investigation with primary data, so the question has to suit the student's own location.
Both courses reward case studies used precisely, with real places and real figures, rather than general description.
All teaching on this role is online, from your own device and connection. Families expect a shared whiteboard, screen share and written working they can keep afterwards, not a camera pointed at a notebook.
Online classes pay you 70% of the fee every month, with no first-month split and no joining fee. You set the fee, we publish it unchanged, and payouts land on the 1st of each month with an itemised statement.
Responsibilities
- Design IA fieldwork around what the student can genuinely access locally.
- Teach map and graph skills as examined techniques.
- Build a case study bank with precise detail rather than general examples.
- Plan each session around the student's current school unit rather than a syllabus order of your own.
- Set and publish your own fee, and decline any student who is not a fit.
- Report progress to the family at the review points agreed when the engagement starts.
- Teach from a quiet space with a stable connection, and send written working after each session.
Requirements
- IGCSE 0460 including the skills paper, and the DP Geography course with its options.
- Fieldwork methodology and data presentation for both IA routes.
- Case study teaching with specific places, figures and dates.
- A degree in the subject or a closely related one. Teaching experience counts, but subject knowledge is checked first.
- Verified government ID and at least one credential we can confirm with the issuing institution.
- Two references we can contact, at least one from a school, college or family you have taught.
- A quiet room, a connection that holds a video call, and a device that handles screen share and a writing tablet.
Nice To Have
- GIS experience, or Geography examining experience at either level.
- Experience with the specific school's internal assessment calendar.
- Availability for a longer weekend slot in the eight weeks before mocks.
