Role Overview
Chennai families often come to IB Biology from a strong NEET-style background, where recall is everything. The Diploma marks interpretation and experimental design instead, and the first job is usually convincing a very hard-working student that their revision method is the thing holding the grade down.
Job Description
Content volume has to be handled with recall structures rather than repeated re-reading, which is the habit most of these students bring with them.
The IA needs statistics the student can justify, and a sampling design that works in Chennai's climate and with school lab access.
The OMR corridor and central Chennai are separate travel problems. Pick one and keep the slots.
This is in-person teaching at the student's home. You list the areas you can genuinely reach and we only send you requests inside Adyar, Besant Nagar, Nungambakkam, Alwarpet, Thiruvanmiyur and the OMR up to Sholinganallur. Declining a location, a society or a timing costs you nothing and needs no explanation.
The first month's fee for each new student is split 50-50. That is our one-time charge for finding the family, arranging the demo and setting up the match. From the second month you keep 100% of the fee for as long as you teach that student, which works out at roughly 98% of a two-year engagement. Payouts land on the 1st of each month with an itemised statement.
Responsibilities
- Replace re-reading with active recall structures in the first month.
- Approve the IA sampling design before data collection starts.
- Set unfamiliar data-based questions regularly through DP2.
- Plan each session around the student's current school unit rather than a syllabus order of your own.
- Set and publish your own fee, and decline any student who is not a fit.
- Report progress to the family at the review points agreed when the engagement starts.
- Keep agreed session times and give at least 24 hours' notice through IB Gram if a session has to move.
Requirements
- Full HL Biology plus one option, taught to the IB assessment model rather than a national one.
- Statistics for the IA: standard deviation, t-test, chi-squared, and when each applies.
- Data-based question technique for Paper 2.
- A degree in the subject or a closely related one. Teaching experience counts, but subject knowledge is checked first.
- Verified government ID and at least one credential we can confirm with the issuing institution.
- Two references we can contact, at least one from a school, college or family you have taught.
- Reliable travel to the listed areas at the times you have offered, in real traffic.

- Experience with students moving between NEET preparation and the IB Diploma.
- Experience with the specific school's internal assessment calendar.
- Availability for a longer weekend slot in the eight weeks before mocks.
