Role Overview
Pune splits into two tuition markets that barely touch: the Koregaon Park and Kharadi side, and the Baner and Balewadi side. Tutors do well here by owning one side completely, and badly by trying to serve both from the middle.
Job Description
Physics and mathematics are frequently taken together by the same student, and teaching them in one session block makes the mathematics in physics land faster.
Extended tier is assumed for both, including Paper 6 alternative to practical in physics.
Several Pune schools sit the October/November series, so confirm the series before any revision plan is written.
This is in-person teaching at the student's home. You list the areas you can genuinely reach and we only send you requests inside Koregaon Park, Kalyani Nagar, Kharadi, Balewadi, Baner, Aundh and Viman Nagar. Declining a location, a society or a timing costs you nothing and needs no explanation.
The first month's fee for each new student is split 50-50. That is our one-time charge for finding the family, arranging the demo and setting up the match. From the second month you keep 100% of the fee for as long as you teach that student, which works out at roughly 98% of a two-year engagement. Payouts land on the 1st of each month with an itemised statement.
Responsibilities
- Confirm the exam series in the first session and plan revision backwards from it.
- Use the physics content to reinforce the mathematics rather than teaching them as separate worlds.
- Practise alternative-to-practical questions from the start of the engagement.
- Plan each session around the student's current school unit rather than a syllabus order of your own.
- Set and publish your own fee, and decline any student who is not a fit.
- Report progress to the family at the review points agreed when the engagement starts.
- Keep agreed session times and give at least 24 hours' notice through IB Gram if a session has to move.
Requirements
- 0625 and 0580 at Extended tier, including Paper 6 for physics.
- The ability to teach the mathematics a physics student needs, inside the physics session.
- A defined side of the city you can reach reliably at 6pm.
- A degree in the subject or a closely related one. Teaching experience counts, but subject knowledge is checked first.
- Verified government ID and at least one credential we can confirm with the issuing institution.
- Two references we can contact, at least one from a school, college or family you have taught.
- Reliable travel to the listed areas at the times you have offered, in real traffic.
Nice To Have
- Experience preparing students for IGCSE to IB DP Group 4 transition.
- Experience with the specific school's internal assessment calendar.
- Availability for a longer weekend slot in the eight weeks before mocks.
