Job Description

IB and IGCSE online tutor jobs at IB Gram are freelance remote engagements. You keep 70% of every fee and IB Gram takes a 30% platform fee, unchanged from your first class onwards with no first-month reduction. You set your fee, your hours and your time zone, and we match you with students whose preferred slots overlap yours. Payouts are monthly, on the 1st.

IB and IGCSE families are not distributed like a local tuition market. An international school in one city may have a single Physics HL teacher and forty students; the tutor who can genuinely teach that course might live two thousand kilometres away. Online is how that gap gets closed, and it is why the majority of what we place is remote.

For you, the practical consequence is that your reach is no longer limited by what you can drive to. A Maths AA HL specialist can fill a timetable from Dubai, Singapore, London and three Indian cities in the same week. That is not possible in home tuition at any rate.

The commercial terms are simpler too. Online is a flat 70/30 split in your favour from the first class to the last — there is no reduced first month the way there is with home tuition. For short engagements, which are common in Diploma work, that makes online meaningfully better paid.

What online tutors earn and when online beats home

You set your fee per class or per month and we publish it unchanged; the family sees it before booking the demo. Our 30% platform fee covers finding and matching students, arranging the demo, collecting fees from the family, chasing late payment, scheduling support, and finding you a replacement student if one stops.

The useful comparison is against home tuition, because the two splits reward different engagement lengths. Home tuition takes half of your first month and then nothing, so it wins decisively on long engagements. Online takes a steady 30% forever, so it wins on short ones. The crossover sits at around six weeks.

That matters because a lot of IB Diploma work is short by nature — four weeks of intensive revision before a session, six weeks of internal-assessment supervision, a predicted-grade push with a deadline attached. For those, online is the better-paid choice as well as the more practical one.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Online students one to one, matched to you by programme, subject and level before you accept.
  • Plan each session around the student's current school unit rather than a fixed syllabus of your own.
  • Prepare students for the assessment model of their stage, including internal assessment and exam technique where it applies.
  • Set and publish your own fee, and decline any student who is not a fit.
  • Keep agreed session times, and give notice through IB Gram if a session must move.
  • Report progress to the family at the review points agreed at the start of the engagement.
  • Teach online across time zones using your own device and connection.

Requirements

  • Subject command at the level you teach. A degree or teaching qualification in the subject, or a track record with IB or IGCSE students at that level. You should be comfortable a level above what you teach.
  • Knowledge of the IB or IGCSE assessment model. How your stage is actually marked: MYP criteria and task-specific clarifications, DP internal assessment and grade boundaries, or your IGCSE board's papers and mark schemes.
  • Stable broadband, camera and microphone. A dropped connection mid-explanation costs more goodwill online than a late arrival does in person. A wired connection or a reliable backup such as a mobile hotspot is strongly advised.
  • A quiet, professional space. A plain background, no interruptions, good lighting on your face. Your camera stays on for the whole class — that is a safeguarding requirement, not a style preference.
  • Government photo ID for verification. Reviewed before your profile goes live. An identity check, not a police or criminal-records check, and your profile states that plainly.

Nice To Have

  • A graphics tablet or document camera. Not required to be accepted, but for maths, physics and chemistry it is close to essential in practice. Teaching algebra with a mouse is slow, and students notice.

Benefits

  • Flat 70% to you every month — no first-month reduction
  • Teach across time zones; you set the hours you are available
  • No travel, so a full timetable has no dead time in it
  • Monthly payouts on the 1st with an itemised statement
  • Online classes: 70% to you, 30% platform fee
  • What the 30% actually covers
  • Paid monthly, on the 1st
  • If a student switches mode
