Tutoring

IB PYP and early years online tutor — India (remote)

Online primary support for PYP students across India: reading, number sense and written expression in short, well-structured sessions.

India (online) Freelance, part time or full time IB PYP (Grades 1 to 5)

Role Overview

Teaching a seven-year-old online is a genuine skill, and most tutors are not good at it. Sessions have to be short, visual and interactive, and a tutor who talks for forty minutes will lose the child in five. Families book this where there is no suitable in-person option nearby.

Job Description

Sessions run 30 to 45 minutes, three times a week, with the screen used actively rather than as a talking head.

Reading fluency, number sense and written expression are the three areas that compound if left, and they take most of the time.

PYP works through units of inquiry, so sessions connect to the school's current unit rather than running a parallel curriculum.

All teaching on this role is online, from your own device and connection. Families expect a shared whiteboard, screen share and written working they can keep afterwards, not a camera pointed at a notebook.

Online classes pay you 70% of the fee every month, with no first-month split and no joining fee. You set the fee, we publish it unchanged, and payouts land on the 1st of each month with an itemised statement.

Responsibilities

  • Keep sessions to 30 to 45 minutes with frequent changes of activity.
  • Build sessions around the school's current unit of inquiry.
  • Tell parents honestly when tuition is not what the child needs.
  • Plan each session around the student's current school unit rather than a syllabus order of your own.
  • Set and publish your own fee, and decline any student who is not a fit.
  • Report progress to the family at the review points agreed when the engagement starts.
  • Teach from a quiet space with a stable connection, and send written working after each session.

Requirements

  • Primary teaching experience with genuine early-years pedagogy.
  • Online technique for young children: short tasks, visual tools, frequent interaction.
  • Reading intervention method including phonics where it is still needed.
  • A degree in the subject or a closely related one. Teaching experience counts, but subject knowledge is checked first.
  • Verified government ID and at least one credential we can confirm with the issuing institution.
  • Two references we can contact, at least one from a school, college or family you have taught.
  • A quiet room, a connection that holds a video call, and a device that handles screen share and a writing tablet.

Nice To Have

  • A primary teaching qualification or early-years specialist training.
  • Experience with the specific school's internal assessment calendar.
  • Availability for a longer weekend slot in the eight weeks before mocks.

Benefits

  • You set your own fee and we publish it unchanged, so there is no negotiation after you have taught.
  • Students are matched to you by programme, subject and level before you accept.
  • No joining fee, no subscription and no exclusivity - teach elsewhere as well.
  • Monthly payouts on the 1st with an itemised statement.
  • Teach from anywhere, in the hours you have told us you are available.
