Tutoring
IGCSE Business Studies and Economics tutor — MG Road and DLF, Gurgaon
Cambridge Business Studies and Economics for Years 10 and 11, taught at home or online, with the case-study technique that decides the grade.
Role Overview
Both of these papers are passed or failed on application, not knowledge. A student who can define elasticity but cannot apply it to the case study business in front of them gets a 5. Teaching the applied answer structure is nearly the whole job.
Job Description
Business Studies Paper 2 is a case study, and the marks sit in applying theory to that specific business and reaching a justified recommendation at the end.
Economics 0455 overlaps enough with Business that students confuse the two answer styles, so the distinction has to be taught deliberately.
Students on this route often move into IB Business Management or Economics, so Year 11 should leave them with evaluation habits that transfer.
You decide per student whether you teach at their home, online, or a mix of the two. Most engagements on this role start in person and move revision sessions online. In-person requests only come from MG Road, DLF Phases 1 to 4, Sector 28, Qutab Plaza and the Sikanderpur to Sector 29 stretch.
In-person students follow the home tuition split: the first month is 50-50, then 100% is yours for as long as the engagement lasts. Online sessions pay you 70% of the fee with no first-month split. Both are paid out on the 1st of each month with an itemised statement.
Responsibilities
- Teach answer structure explicitly: point, application to this business, evaluation, judgement.
- Work unseen case studies under timed conditions from the second month onwards.
- Keep the two subjects' answer styles separate in the student's head.
- Plan each session around the student's current school unit rather than a syllabus order of your own.
- Set and publish your own fee, and decline any student who is not a fit.
- Report progress to the family at the review points agreed when the engagement starts.
- Keep agreed session times and give at least 24 hours' notice through IB Gram if a session has to move.
Requirements
- Both 0450 and 0455 to full paper standard, including the Paper 2 case study format.
- The ability to teach applied and evaluative answer structures rather than content alone.
- Command of the Cambridge command terms and what each one is actually marked for.
- A degree in the subject or a closely related one. Teaching experience counts, but subject knowledge is checked first.
- Verified government ID and at least one credential we can confirm with the issuing institution.
- Two references we can contact, at least one from a school, college or family you have taught.
- Reliable travel to the listed areas at the times you have offered, in real traffic.
Nice To Have
- Commercial experience you can draw real examples from.
- Experience with the specific school's internal assessment calendar.
- Availability for a longer weekend slot in the eight weeks before mocks.
Benefits
- You set your own fee and we publish it unchanged, so there is no negotiation after you have taught.
- Students are matched to you by programme, subject and level before you accept.
- No joining fee, no subscription and no exclusivity - teach elsewhere as well.
- Monthly payouts on the 1st with an itemised statement.
- You choose per student whether the engagement is in person, online or mixed.
