IB MYP tutor — Indore

Middle Years Programme teaching across Indore, in person or online, covering mathematics, sciences and the criterion-based assessment parents here rarely have explained to them.

Indore, Madhya Pradesh (home, hybrid or online) Freelance, part time or full time IB MYP Years 1 to 5

Role Overview

Indore's international school cohort is young and growing, and most parents have come from a state or CBSE background. The commonest problem is not the content but the reporting: nobody has told them what the four criteria mean, so they cannot tell whether their child is doing well.

Job Description

Students span Years 1 to 5, so the role needs genuine range rather than a single year group's depth.

Criterion-based tasks, including written reflection, are where marks are lost, not in computation or recall.

Hybrid matters here because the IB schools are spread along AB Road and the Bypass, with long gaps between them.

You decide per student whether you teach at their home, online, or a mix of the two. Most engagements on this role start in person and move revision sessions online. In-person requests only come from Vijay Nagar, AB Road, Scheme 54 and 78, Bicholi Mardana and the Rau to Bypass stretch.

In-person students follow the home tuition split: the first month is 50-50, then 100% is yours for as long as the engagement lasts. Online sessions pay you 70% of the fee with no first-month split. Both are paid out on the 1st of each month with an itemised statement.

Responsibilities

  • Match session length to the student's year group rather than using one default.
  • Teach to the school's live unit plan and statement of inquiry.
  • Explain the criterion scores to the family in writing at each review point.
  • Plan each session around the student's current school unit rather than a syllabus order of your own.
  • Set and publish your own fee, and decline any student who is not a fit.
  • Report progress to the family at the review points agreed when the engagement starts.
  • Keep agreed session times and give at least 24 hours' notice through IB Gram if a session has to move.

Requirements

  • MYP criteria A to D across Mathematics and Sciences, with the command terms.
  • The range to teach Years 1 to 5, adjusting session length and method by age.
  • The ability to make criterion reporting understandable to a first-generation IB parent.
  • A degree in the subject or a closely related one. Teaching experience counts, but subject knowledge is checked first.
  • Verified government ID and at least one credential we can confirm with the issuing institution.
  • Two references we can contact, at least one from a school, college or family you have taught.
  • Reliable travel to the listed areas at the times you have offered, in real traffic.

Nice To Have

  • Experience supporting the MYP Personal Project in Year 5.
  • Experience with the specific school's internal assessment calendar.
  • Availability for a longer weekend slot in the eight weeks before mocks.

Benefits

  • You set your own fee and we publish it unchanged, so there is no negotiation after you have taught.
  • Students are matched to you by programme, subject and level before you accept.
  • No joining fee, no subscription and no exclusivity - teach elsewhere as well.
  • Monthly payouts on the 1st with an itemised statement.
  • You choose per student whether the engagement is in person, online or mixed.
