IB DP French B and Spanish ab initio tutor — Gurgaon
IB Group 2 teaching in Gurgaon, at home or online: French B at Standard or Higher Level and Spanish ab initio, with the individual oral and the five prescribed themes.
Role Overview
Group 2 is where otherwise strong Diploma students lose points, usually because speaking is practised only in the week before the oral. The assessment rewards sustained interaction across the prescribed themes, and that only comes from regular conversation with someone who corrects properly.
Job Description
The individual oral works from a visual stimulus linked to a theme and needs genuine unrehearsed conversation rather than a prepared monologue.
Paper 1 is a written task in a specified text type such as a blog, a formal letter or a speech, and students lose marks for register and conventions rather than grammar.
ab initio and B are different courses with different expectations, and a student in the wrong one should be moved early rather than carried.
You decide per student whether you teach at their home, online, or a mix of the two. Most engagements on this role start in person and move revision sessions online. In-person requests only come from Golf Course Road, DLF Phases 1 to 5, Sectors 42 to 57 and Sushant Lok, or online anywhere in Gurgaon.
In-person students follow the home tuition split: the first month is 50-50, then 100% is yours for as long as the engagement lasts. Online sessions pay you 70% of the fee with no first-month split. Both are paid out on the 1st of each month with an itemised statement.
Responsibilities
- Run every session substantially in the target language from the first month.
- Practise the individual oral with unseen stimuli, timed, with real follow-up questions.
- Teach text-type conventions and register explicitly for Paper 1.
- Plan each session around the student's current school unit rather than a syllabus order of your own.
- Set and publish your own fee, and decline any student who is not a fit.
- Report progress to the family at the review points agreed when the engagement starts.
- Keep agreed session times and give at least 24 hours' notice through IB Gram if a session has to move.
Requirements
- Near-native or native command of French or Spanish, with the IB Language B and ab initio assessment models.
- The five prescribed themes and the text types examined in Paper 1.
- The discipline to correct in the target language and keep the session mostly in it.
- A degree in the subject or a closely related one. Teaching experience counts, but subject knowledge is checked first.
- Verified government ID and at least one credential we can confirm with the issuing institution.
- Two references we can contact, at least one from a school, college or family you have taught.
- Reliable travel to the listed areas at the times you have offered, in real traffic.
Nice To Have
- A second Group 2 language, or DELF or DELE examining experience.
- Experience with the specific school's internal assessment calendar.
- Availability for a longer weekend slot in the eight weeks before mocks.
Benefits
- You set your own fee and we publish it unchanged, so there is no negotiation after you have taught.
- Students are matched to you by programme, subject and level before you accept.
- No joining fee, no subscription and no exclusivity - teach elsewhere as well.
- Monthly payouts on the 1st with an itemised statement.
- You choose per student whether the engagement is in person, online or mixed.
