Role Overview
Mumbai has a dense IB cohort and a dense traffic problem, so this role is built around a tutor choosing one corridor and staying inside it. A tutor who covers Bandra to Juhu well is more useful here than one who promises the whole city and arrives late.
Job Description
The teaching weight sits in organic chemistry, energetics and equilibrium, plus the Paper 1 calculation speed students underestimate.
IA supervision is a large part of the engagement, and the strongest grades come from investigations designed around equipment the student can realistically access.
Pick your corridor honestly: Bandra to Juhu, Powai, or south Mumbai. Crossing between them in one evening does not work.
This is in-person teaching at the student's home. You list the areas you can genuinely reach and we only send you requests inside Bandra, Khar, Juhu, Santacruz, Powai, Worli and the Lower Parel to Prabhadevi stretch. Declining a location, a society or a timing costs you nothing and needs no explanation.
The first month's fee for each new student is split 50-50. That is our one-time charge for finding the family, arranging the demo and setting up the match. From the second month you keep 100% of the fee for as long as you teach that student, which works out at roughly 98% of a two-year engagement. Payouts land on the 1st of each month with an itemised statement.
Responsibilities
- Agree a travel corridor at the start and decline matches outside it.
- Design IA support around apparatus the student can actually get hold of.
- Drill Paper 1 calculation under time, with the data booklet open.
- Plan each session around the student's current school unit rather than a syllabus order of your own.
- Set and publish your own fee, and decline any student who is not a fit.
- Report progress to the family at the review points agreed when the engagement starts.
- Keep agreed session times and give at least 24 hours' notice through IB Gram if a session has to move.
Requirements
- Full HL Chemistry including the organic mechanisms and at least one option.
- Chemistry IA supervision against the current criteria, especially Evaluation.
- A single chosen Mumbai corridor you can cover reliably at peak hour.
- A degree in the subject or a closely related one. Teaching experience counts, but subject knowledge is checked first.
- Verified government ID and at least one credential we can confirm with the issuing institution.
- Two references we can contact, at least one from a school, college or family you have taught.
- Reliable travel to the listed areas at the times you have offered, in real traffic.

- Experience with the IB Chemistry Extended Essay.
- Experience with the specific school's internal assessment calendar.
- Availability for a longer weekend slot in the eight weeks before mocks.
