Job Description
IB and IGCSE tutor jobs in the UAE at IB Gram are freelance engagements across Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates. You teach in person in areas you choose or online across the Gulf, set your own fee in AED, and keep 100% of home-tuition fees from the second month. You are responsible for holding whatever work authorisation your own visa status requires. Payouts are monthly on the 1st.
A very large majority of schoolchildren in the UAE attend private schools, and those schools run a wide spread of international curricula — British, IB, American, Indian and others — often several within a few kilometres of each other. For an IB or IGCSE specialist that density is rare and valuable: the students who need you are concentrated rather than scattered.
Private tutoring is also a normal, openly discussed part of how UAE families support their children's schooling, rather than something arranged quietly. Families are generally direct about what they want, specific about the board and level, and willing to pay for a tutor who clearly knows the syllabus.
The market is correspondingly demanding. Parents compare tutors, ask about qualifications and examiner experience directly, and expect a demo class to demonstrate real command. If you have genuine depth in a Higher Level Diploma subject or an IGCSE science, this is among the better places in the world to be tutoring.
What UAE tutors earn and what we take
You set your own fee in AED and we publish it unchanged; families see it before booking the demo. UAE rates are generally well above Indian rates for equivalent work, and the premium is highest for Diploma Higher Level subjects and for in-person teaching in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Our share depends only on the mode. Home tuition is split 50-50 for the first month with each new student and is then 100% yours for as long as you keep teaching them. Online classes are a flat 70/30 in your favour, every month, with no reduced first month.
We invoice and collect from the family and pay you monthly on the 1st, with an itemised statement showing every student, class, fee and split. You never invoice a family and you never chase a late payment.
Responsibilities
- Teach UAE students one to one, matched to you by programme, subject and level before you accept.
- Plan each session around the student's current school unit rather than a fixed syllabus of your own.
- Prepare students for the assessment model of their stage, including internal assessment and exam technique where it applies.
- Set and publish your own fee, and decline any student who is not a fit.
- Keep agreed session times, and give notice through IB Gram if a session must move.
- Report progress to the family at the review points agreed at the start of the engagement.
Requirements
- Subject command at the level you teach. A degree or teaching qualification in the subject, or a strong track record with IB or IGCSE students. For Higher Level subjects UAE families expect depth and will ask about it.
- Knowledge of the relevant assessment model. Your IGCSE board's papers and mark schemes, or the Diploma's internal assessment, HL and SL distinctions and grade boundaries. Examiner experience is the strongest credential you can hold here.
- Valid work authorisation for your own situation. This is yours to establish, not ours to grant. Tutoring in the UAE is regulated, and whether you need a freelance permit, a work permit or sponsor permission depends on your visa status and emirate. Confirm your position before you accept paid work.
- Government photo ID for verification. Emirates ID or passport, reviewed before your profile goes live. An identity check, not a police or criminal-records check, and your profile states that plainly.
- A setup for your chosen mode. Online needs stable broadband, a camera, a microphone and a quiet professional space. In-person needs reliable travel to the communities you list, which in UAE terms usually means a car.
Nice To Have
- Experience in a UAE or international school. Weighted heavily in review and the first thing many UAE parents ask about. Not essential if your subject depth and assessment knowledge are strong.
