Tutoring
IB DP History and Global Politics online tutor — India (remote)
Online teaching for IB History and Global Politics: source paper technique, essay argument, and the internal assessments both courses carry.
Role Overview
History is marked on argument, not on knowing more. Students who revise by learning more facts and keep getting 4s are the typical starting point here, and the fix is structural: a thesis, evidence selected to serve it, and counter-argument answered rather than mentioned.
Job Description
Paper 1 is a source paper with its own technique, including the origin, purpose, value and limitation analysis that students reduce to a formula.
The History IA is a 2,200-word investigation with a section on method and sources that is marked separately and is frequently rushed.
Global Politics carries the engagement activity and, at HL, the extension, both of which need planning in DP1.
All teaching on this role is online, from your own device and connection. Families expect a shared whiteboard, screen share and written working they can keep afterwards, not a camera pointed at a notebook.
Online classes pay you 70% of the fee every month, with no first-month split and no joining fee. You set the fee, we publish it unchanged, and payouts land on the 1st of each month with an itemised statement.
Responsibilities
- Teach thesis-first essay construction and hold students to it in every piece.
- Supervise the IA's method section as carefully as its argument.
- Plan the Global Politics engagement activity in DP1, not DP2.
- Plan each session around the student's current school unit rather than a syllabus order of your own.
- Set and publish your own fee, and decline any student who is not a fit.
- Report progress to the family at the review points agreed when the engagement starts.
- Teach from a quiet space with a stable connection, and send written working after each session.
Requirements
- At least two History prescribed subjects or world history topics to exam standard.
- Source analysis and essay argument taught as technique rather than content.
- Global Politics assessment including the engagement activity, where you take that subject.
- A degree in the subject or a closely related one. Teaching experience counts, but subject knowledge is checked first.
- Verified government ID and at least one credential we can confirm with the issuing institution.
- Two references we can contact, at least one from a school, college or family you have taught.
- A quiet room, a connection that holds a video call, and a device that handles screen share and a writing tablet.
Nice To Have
- History or Global Politics examining experience.
- Experience with the specific school's internal assessment calendar.
- Availability for a longer weekend slot in the eight weeks before mocks.
Benefits
- You set your own fee and we publish it unchanged, so there is no negotiation after you have taught.
- Students are matched to you by programme, subject and level before you accept.
- No joining fee, no subscription and no exclusivity - teach elsewhere as well.
- Monthly payouts on the 1st with an itemised statement.
- Teach from anywhere, in the hours you have told us you are available.
