Tutoring

IB DP Economics tutor — Ahmedabad

IB Economics in Ahmedabad, taught in person or online: diagram technique, HL Paper 3 and the three Internal Assessment commentaries.

Ahmedabad, Gujarat (home, hybrid or online) Freelance, part time or full time IB DP Economics (HL and SL)

Role Overview

Ahmedabad's IB cohort is small enough that few tutors specialise in a single Group 3 subject, which is precisely why these students struggle with Economics. The role is built as hybrid so one specialist can cover families on both sides of the SG Highway without spending the evening in a car.

Job Description

Most families start in person and move to online for revision and commentary feedback, which is the pattern this role is designed around.

The three commentaries need scheduling across DP1 and DP2 rather than being written in one panicked month.

HL students need Paper 3 taught deliberately, since it is rarely given enough timetable in a small cohort.

You decide per student whether you teach at their home, online, or a mix of the two. Most engagements on this role start in person and move revision sessions online. In-person requests only come from Satellite, Bodakdev, Thaltej, Prahlad Nagar, SG Highway and the Shilaj to Sanand stretch.

In-person students follow the home tuition split: the first month is 50-50, then 100% is yours for as long as the engagement lasts. Online sessions pay you 70% of the fee with no first-month split. Both are paid out on the 1st of each month with an itemised statement.

Responsibilities

  • Agree in advance which sessions are in person and which are online, and keep to it.
  • Set the commentary calendar in the first month of the engagement.
  • Teach evaluation as a distinct skill, separate from explanation.
  • Plan each session around the student's current school unit rather than a syllabus order of your own.
  • Set and publish your own fee, and decline any student who is not a fit.
  • Report progress to the family at the review points agreed when the engagement starts.
  • Keep agreed session times and give at least 24 hours' notice through IB Gram if a session has to move.

Requirements

  • The full Economics course across all four units, HL quantitative content included.
  • Diagram accuracy to examiner standard.
  • IA commentary marking against the current criteria and key concepts.
  • A degree in the subject or a closely related one. Teaching experience counts, but subject knowledge is checked first.
  • Verified government ID and at least one credential we can confirm with the issuing institution.
  • Two references we can contact, at least one from a school, college or family you have taught.
  • Reliable travel to the listed areas at the times you have offered, in real traffic.

Nice To Have

  • Economics examining or moderation experience.
  • Experience with the specific school's internal assessment calendar.
  • Availability for a longer weekend slot in the eight weeks before mocks.

Benefits

  • You set your own fee and we publish it unchanged, so there is no negotiation after you have taught.
  • Students are matched to you by programme, subject and level before you accept.
  • No joining fee, no subscription and no exclusivity - teach elsewhere as well.
  • Monthly payouts on the 1st with an itemised statement.
  • You choose per student whether the engagement is in person, online or mixed.
