IB Home Tutor in DAMAC Hills 2

Searching for an IB home tutor in DAMAC Hills 2 usually starts with one question: is there anybody out here who actually knows this syllabus? DAMAC Hills 2 sits deep in the Dubailand belt, and the pool of Diploma specialists living within a short drive is small. IB Gram answers that by matching your child to a subject specialist who teaches one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, rather than by sending whoever is nearest.

  • Matched by subject and level, not by driving distance from your villa
  • Live one-to-one video lessons timed to Gulf Standard Time
  • IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE
  • A free trial lesson before any commitment, with the same tutor

IB & IGCSE in DAMAC Hills 2

Is there an IB tutor near DAMAC Hills 2 who knows the Diploma?

The short answer is that the number of people living within fifteen minutes of DAMAC Hills 2 who have taught a specific IB Diploma course to final grade is very small, and for some subjects it is zero. That is not a criticism of the community. It is arithmetic. DAMAC Hills 2 is a villa development on the Dubailand side of the city, built out well after the school belt it sits beside, and the professional tutoring supply in Dubai is concentrated where the oldest international schools are. Asking for an IB home tutor in DAMAC Hills 2 and expecting a Chemistry HL specialist to live two streets over is asking a lot of a residential map.

What usually happens next is the compromise nobody plans for. A family that cannot find a Diploma specialist nearby hires a general science graduate who is willing to drive out, and pays the travel premium for the privilege. The tutor is capable and the sessions are pleasant, and three months later the student is still losing the same marks in the same place, because the problem was never explained content. It was that nobody had read the subject guide and knew which assessment objective Paper 2 was testing.

IB Gram was built to break that trade-off, and the way it does that is unglamorous: lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE. Home visits are a service we run in India only. That means a family in DAMAC Hills 2 is choosing from a specialist pool defined by subject and level rather than by road distance, and a Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL student gets somebody who has taught that course, not somebody who did engineering maths a decade ago.

This page answers the home-tutoring question properly before it makes that case. You will find what the Dubai market genuinely charges for an in-home visit versus an online session, attributed to the sources that published those figures. You will find how the private-tutor permit works, because any tutor who comes to a UAE address for money needs one and most parents have never been told that. You will find what the Diploma actually assesses, where marks go missing, and what a tutor is allowed to do with an Internal Assessment under IB rules.

Dubai's private schools are regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which inspects them annually on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak and publishes the results. KHDA reported 387,441 pupils across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering seventeen different curricula, with the International Baccalaureate accounting for 7% of enrolment. Seven per cent of a market that size is a substantial number of Diploma students, but they are spread thinly across the city, which is precisely why local supply for a single IB course is unreliable and a city-wide online pool is not.

If you want the practical version: read the rate table, read the permit section, take the free trial lesson with the tutor who would actually teach your child, and judge the match on that one hour rather than on anything written here.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

IB Gram covers the full International Baccalaureate continuum for DAMAC Hills 2 families, but the help a Primary Years pupil needs and the help a Diploma candidate needs have almost nothing in common. Here is what each programme asks of a student, and the part that specifically bites in a Dubai school year.

PYPAges 3-12 · Foundation to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

The PYP is organised around transdisciplinary units of inquiry rather than discrete subjects, and it is assessed continuously by the class teacher against learning outcomes rather than by examination. Children document thinking in portfolios and finish Year 6 with the PYP Exhibition, a self-directed inquiry presented to the school community. Support at this stage is about building the reading fluency, number sense and written explanation that the later programmes assume.

DAMAC Hills 2 families often arrive mid-primary from a different system, and the shift to inquiry-led learning is the shock. A child who was strong on drilled arithmetic can look weak in a PYP classroom because the task asks them to explain a method, not produce an answer. KHDA also requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies in all Dubai private schools from the start of primary, running alongside the PYP.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

The MYP marks every subject against four criteria, each on a 0-8 scale, and the criteria differ by subject group. Mathematics marks knowing and understanding, investigating patterns, communicating, and applying maths in real-life contexts. Sciences mark knowing and understanding, inquiring and designing, processing and evaluating, and reflecting on the impacts of science. Year 11 adds the Personal Project, assessed against its own criteria.

The MYP years are where DAMAC Hills 2 parents most often tell us the school report has stopped making sense. A 5 in criterion A and a 3 in criterion D is not an average of 4 in any useful sense; it is a specific instruction about what to fix. Our MYP tutoring works criterion by criterion, which is also the only honest preparation for the Diploma that follows.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

The Diploma is six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject carries an Internal Assessment marked by the teacher and moderated by the IB. The final score runs to 45, with up to three bonus points from the TOK and Extended Essay matrix. UAE schools sit the May session.

This is where DAMAC Hills 2 families search hardest for a home tutor, and where the local-supply problem is sharpest, because a Diploma subject at Higher Level is a narrow specialism rather than general secondary teaching. A Physics HL student needs somebody fluent in Paper 3 and the practical scheme of work. The chance that such a person lives in the Dubailand belt and has a free weekday evening is not high.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

The CP pairs at least two DP courses with a career-related study, a reflective project, a service-learning component, personal and professional skills, and a language development requirement. It suits a student who wants Diploma-standard academic subjects without the full six-subject load, and who has a clear applied direction such as business, hospitality or engineering technology.

The CP is offered by only a handful of Dubai schools, so most DAMAC Hills 2 families meet it as a mid-sixth-form option rather than a Year 11 choice. Where it matters for tutoring is the DP courses inside it: those are marked to exactly the same standard as a full Diploma candidate's, so a CP student taking Business Management SL needs the same depth of support as anybody else in that exam hall.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IB Diploma and MYP subjects DAMAC Hills 2 families request most, with the part that actually costs marks. Availability varies by level and by session, and the trial lesson is where you confirm the match rather than take our word for it.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebraic fluency carries this course. Marks go missing in proof, in calculus applications at HL, and in the unstructured Paper 2 questions where no scaffold tells the student which technique applies. The Exploration is a fifth of the grade and is lost on weak personal engagement far more often than on weak mathematics.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Lighter on proof, heavier on modelling, statistics and the graphical calculator. The common failure is treating it as the easy option and then meeting hypothesis testing and regression with no statistical vocabulary. HL adds matrices, graph theory and complex numbers, which surprises students who chose AI to avoid abstraction.

Physics

HL and SL

Paper 1 punishes loose definitions, Paper 2 rewards structured working, and Paper 3 tests experimental technique and data analysis in a way textbook practice never prepares a student for. Uncertainty propagation and graph linearisation are where DAMAC Hills 2 students most often arrive stuck.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic mechanisms and energetics are the two walls. Students who can recite reagents still lose marks because they cannot explain why a nucleophile attacks where it does. The Internal Assessment needs a question with a measurable variable and enough repeats to say something about uncertainty.

Biology

HL and SL

The content volume is the trap, not the difficulty. Command terms decide the mark: outline, explain, discuss and evaluate each want a different shape of answer, and a well-informed student writing the wrong shape scores low. Statistical treatment in the IA is routinely thin.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams must be drawn, labelled and then used in the prose, not decorated beside it. The three commentaries carry the internal mark and are assessed on application of a named real article, so the choice of article decides the ceiling before any analysis is written.

Business Management

HL and SL

Tools such as SWOT and Ansoff score nothing on their own; the marks sit in applying them to the case material and reaching a supported judgement. HL adds the research project, which needs a live organisation and a question narrow enough to answer in the word limit.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 is unseen textual analysis under time pressure, and most lost marks come from summarising the text rather than analysing how it produces meaning. The Individual Oral needs a global issue and two works prepared properly, and improvised attempts are audible.

Computer Science

HL and SL

The written papers test architecture, networks and abstract data structures as much as code. Students who are comfortable programming still lose marks on tracing algorithms by hand. The solution project needs a real client, documented criteria for success and evidence of testing.

Psychology

HL and SL

Every argument must be anchored in a named study with its method and findings, and vague recall of a famous experiment scores little. The HL extensions and the Internal Assessment experiment with its inferential statistic are where structured support changes the grade most.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

TOK is assessed by the exhibition of three objects and the prescribed-title essay, and it contributes to the three bonus points alongside the Extended Essay. The essay fails when it becomes general opinion rather than a claim-and-counterclaim argument grounded in specific areas of knowledge.

Extended Essay supervision support

Core

A 4,000-word independent research piece in a chosen subject, marked against five criteria. Most grades are decided by the research question: too broad and nothing is answered, too narrow and there is no argument. A tutor coaches the question, the method and the reflection — the writing stays the student's own.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways a DAMAC Hills 2 family works with us, all of them delivered online over live video. Which one fits depends on how far away the next assessment is and how much of the course is genuinely missing rather than merely rusty.

Weekly one-to-one, same tutor, same slot

The default and the one that works. A fixed sixty or ninety minute slot each week with one specialist, following your child's school scheme of work rather than a generic syllabus order. The tutor sees the same student long enough to know which mistakes are habits and which were a bad evening, which is the thing a rotating pool of tutors can never do.

  • Sixty or ninety minutes weekly, set after the trial lesson
  • Times fixed in Gulf Standard Time, typically between 4pm and 9pm
  • The tutor works from your child's own deadlines and assessment calendar
  • Rescheduling handled directly with the tutor, not through a queue

Intensive pre-assessment blocks

Short, dense runs of sessions before mocks or the May session. Two or three hours a week for six to ten weeks, built around past-paper technique and the specific topics a diagnostic shows are weak. This is the right mode for a student whose understanding is broadly sound but whose exam output does not reflect it, and the wrong mode for a student missing a year of foundations.

  • Diagnostic on real past-paper questions before the plan is written
  • Two or three sessions a week across six to ten weeks
  • Timed practice marked against the published assessment criteria
  • Scales back to weekly once the gap closes

Internal Assessment and Extended Essay coaching

Process support on the coursework that decides so much of a Diploma score. The tutor helps shape a workable research question, checks that the method can actually produce data, reads a draft against the criteria and explains what a criterion is asking for. Every word that goes in the submission is written by the student, and that boundary is not negotiable.

  • Research question narrowed until it is answerable in the word limit
  • Method reviewed for measurable variables and sufficient repeats
  • Feedback mapped to the published criteria and their mark allocations
  • No drafting, no ghost-writing, no editing to a finish — ever

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in DAMAC Hills 2

01

What searching for an IB home tutor in DAMAC Hills 2 actually turns up

  • Dubai tutor supply clusters around older school corridors, not newer Dubailand communities
  • An in-home rate to DAMAC Hills 2 includes travel time whether the invoice shows it or not
  • Proximity is rarely the scarce resource; subject-and-level specialism is
  • IB Gram delivers online only in the UAE; in-home visits are an India-only service

Type it into Google and you get three categories of result. Agencies with a Dubai landing page and no named neighbourhood. Marketplaces quoting prices in US dollars, which is not a currency any family in DAMAC Hills 2 pays school fees in. And classified listings from individuals, most of whom are general tutors rather than Diploma specialists, and a proportion of whom will not be able to tell you their permit position if you ask.

What almost none of them tell you is how the supply actually works. Private tutoring in Dubai clusters around the old school corridors — Jumeirah, Al Barsha, the Greens, Mirdif — because that is where the tutors live and where the density of clients justifies the driving. DAMAC Hills 2 is a long way from all of them. A tutor based in Al Barsha quoting you a home-visit rate is quoting a rate that has forty minutes of Al Qudra Road baked into it each way, and that time is being paid for by you whether the invoice itemises it or not.

So the honest answer to the parent's real question is layered. Yes, there are tutors who will come to DAMAC Hills 2. No, there is not a deep bench of them who have taught your child's specific Diploma course at your child's specific level. And the gap between those two sentences is where most of the wasted money in Dubai tutoring sits: families pay a travel premium for proximity and then discover proximity was never the thing in short supply.

IB Gram's position on this is deliberately plain. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE — that service exists only in India. For DAMAC Hills 2 we deliver one-to-one lessons over live video, which means the specialist pool is the whole of our teaching roster rather than the subset willing to drive to the Al Qudra corridor at 6pm. You lose the tutor in the room. You gain the one who has taught the course.

02

Counting the local specialist pool, subject by subject

It helps to replace the feeling of scarcity with a number. Dubai had 387,441 private-school pupils in 2024-25 across 227 schools, and the International Baccalaureate accounted for 7% of them. That is a meaningful Diploma population, but it is spread across the entire emirate, and only the final two years of it sit the Diploma at all. Now narrow to one subject at one level — Chemistry HL, say — and then to the fraction of that cohort living in or near DAMAC Hills 2.

The tutor side narrows faster. A person qualified to teach Chemistry HL to grade is typically either a current Diploma teacher at a Dubai school, a former one, or a graduate who has trained specifically on the course. Current school teachers are the largest group and the most constrained: Abu Dhabi's ADEK ethics rules bar school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit code of conduct carries the same restriction, so your child's own teacher is not the answer even where they are willing.

The table below is an estimate of the structure of that scarcity, not a census. The point of it is not the exact figures; it is the shape. For broad, early-years support, local supply is adequate. For a named Diploma subject at Higher Level, it collapses. That collapse is the whole reason online matching exists, and the reason a DAMAC Hills 2 family should stop optimising for distance and start optimising for whether the tutor has read the subject guide.

03

What home tutoring costs in this part of Dubai, and what the travel buys

Start with the monthly number rather than the hourly one, because that is the figure a household budget actually feels. Bestimate's Dubai rate research puts a weekly one-hour arrangement at roughly AED 240-600 a month for budget tutoring, AED 600-1,200 for mid-tier, and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Packages advertised in the Dubai market include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions.

Those two in-home figures are the interesting ones. Four two-hour visits a month at AED 1,699 works out near AED 212 an hour, and for a community as far out as DAMAC Hills 2 a tutor pricing that honestly is covering eighty minutes of driving per visit inside it. That is the travel premium, and it is worth being clear about what it buys: a person physically present, which matters for a young child who cannot self-manage, and almost nothing for a Diploma student who needs correct explanation of Paper 3 technique.

On the hourly view, the Dubai market splits into bands that the published sources broadly agree on. EdFlik advertises from AED 45-65 and Tutopiya from AED 33-52 at the budget end. Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200 for qualified online tutors. In-home one-to-one visits run AED 180-500 including travel, per Bestimate and the home-tutor listings. IB, IGCSE and A Level specialists sit at AED 200-450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270. At the top, BartyED publishes AED 650.

Every figure in the table below belongs to the organisation named beside it and was read from a published page in October 2026. None of them is an IB Gram price. We do not publish a rate card on these pages, because the right number depends on subject, level and how many weeks remain — take the free trial lesson and get a straight quote from the consultation.

Online one-to-one versus a tutor in your living room: the DAMAC Hills 2 version

This comparison is usually written as a list of online advantages. It deserves better, because in-home tutoring genuinely wins on some things and a parent should know which. A tutor in the room can see a child fidget and intervene before the attention goes. They can take a phone off the table. For a primary-age child with no self-regulation, that physical authority is worth real money, and any page that pretends otherwise is selling rather than advising.

What in-home loses on, from DAMAC Hills 2 specifically, is the pool and the clock. The pool, because you are choosing from the people willing to drive out here on a weekday evening, which for a Higher Level Diploma subject may be nobody. The clock, because a 4:30pm arrival home from a school in Motor City or Sports City plus a tutor fighting Al Qudra Road means a session that starts at 6pm and ends when a tired student has stopped absorbing anything.

Online removes both constraints and adds a few of its own. Screen sharing makes past-paper marking visible in a way a shared notebook does not. Sessions are recorded or notes are shared, so revision three months later has something to work from. Nothing is lost to travel, so a cancellation costs nobody ninety minutes of road. Against that: a weak internet connection ruins a lesson, and a student who will not engage with a screen will not engage with ours either. The trial lesson exists to find that out before you pay for a term.

The table sets both out honestly. IB Gram only occupies the first column — we do not send tutors to UAE homes — but the second and third columns are described as they are, not as a sales argument.

Is the tutor coming to your villa legally permitted to teach?

Most parents in Dubai have never been told that this is a regulated activity, and the people who most benefit from that silence are the ones operating without a permit. Private tuition in the UAE sits under a work-permit regime introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 Regarding the Introduction of Private Tuition Work Permits. The permit is issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, it is granted free of charge for two years, and the official route is MoHRE's own service, Issuance of a New Work Permit — Private Tutor Licensing, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system with a stated two-working-day completion time.

The eligibility list is broader than parents expect. It includes teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. So a university student tutoring your Year 9 child can hold a perfectly valid permit. What matters is whether they actually do. MoHRE states that individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, and Khaleej Times reported that the ministry did not specify the amounts, so treat any figure you see circulating as unverified.

There is a second restriction that catches well-meaning families. The permit's code of conduct bars a tutor from serving students affiliated with their own school, and press reporting on Abu Dhabi's ADEK professional-ethics rules describes the same prohibition for private and charter school staff there. The marketing line 'your child's own teacher, privately' is therefore not something any reputable provider should offer. If it is offered to you, that is information about the provider.

One more distinction worth holding. An individual tutor needs the MoHRE permit. An organisation running tutoring from premises in Dubai with staff is a different legal entity and needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute. IB Gram holds neither a KHDA institute permit nor any form of KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, IB or Cambridge approval, accreditation or partnership, and you should be sceptical of any provider claiming otherwise without showing you the permit number.

Where a DAMAC Hills 2 Diploma student actually loses marks

  • Command terms decide the shape of the answer, and the shape decides the mark
  • Paper 3 and practical technique are a separate skill from content revision
  • Most IA marks are lost at the design stage, not in the writing
  • Diagnose on real past-paper questions before buying a term of sessions

Parents usually describe the problem as the subject. The student says Chemistry is hard. The report says more effort needed in Physics. Neither statement tells a tutor anything useful, because a Diploma grade is not lost across a subject; it is lost in identifiable places, and those places repeat across students with remarkable consistency.

The first is command terms. The IB publishes them, every subject guide lists the ones that apply, and they are instructions rather than synonyms. State wants a bare answer. Outline wants a brief account. Explain wants causation. Discuss wants a balanced consideration. Evaluate wants a judgement supported by the balance. A student who understands the content and answers discuss with a list of facts will be marked down by somebody who can see that they understood it. This is the cheapest grade on the page to recover.

The second is Paper 3 and the practical scheme of work in the sciences. It is a different skill from the content papers: processing raw data, propagating uncertainty, linearising a graph, spotting that a method cannot answer the question it was set. Schools teach it, but they teach it inside a crowded practical timetable, and students who miss a few weeks of it rarely recover the technique from a textbook.

The third is the Internal Assessment, and it is the single largest recoverable block in most Diploma subjects. Marks are lost at the design stage, before any data exists — a research question with no measurable variable, too few repeats to say anything about reliability, an Exploration with mathematics that is technically fine and personal engagement that is absent. A tutor who reads the criteria with the student at week one is worth several who read the draft at week ten.

07

What a tutor may and may not do with an IA, EE or TOK essay

  • Permitted: teaching content, explaining criteria, coaching a research question, reviewing method, giving feedback on the student's own draft
  • Not permitted: writing, drafting, rewriting, templating or editing coursework to a finish
  • We do not supply past papers or mark schemes as downloads — we link the official source
  • Any provider selling a completed IA is selling the student a malpractice finding

This matters more in the UAE market than almost anywhere, because the search results for Dubai IB help include operators who sell finished coursework. One of them advertises completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750. Buying one is not a shortcut with a cost; it is an academic-honesty breach that puts the student's entire Diploma at risk, and the IB withdraws awards for malpractice.

The boundary itself is not vague, and it is easier to apply than parents fear. A tutor may teach the subject content the assessment rests on. They may explain what a criterion is asking for and what the mark allocation rewards. They may help narrow a research question until it is answerable. They may review a method and point out that it will not generate usable data. They may read a draft the student has written and give feedback on it. All of that is ordinary teaching and all of it is permitted.

What a tutor may not do is produce the work. Not write a section. Not supply a paragraph to insert. Not rewrite the student's prose into their own. Not provide a template that only needs numbers dropped in. Not edit a draft to a finish so the submitted text is substantially the tutor's. The student's own authorship has to be real, because they will sign a declaration saying so and the supervisor signs alongside them.

IB Gram's tutors work inside that line, and we say so in writing because in this particular SERP it is a differentiator rather than a disclaimer. We also do not supply IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables as downloads. Those are the awarding bodies' copyright. We reference them, we link to the official source, and we teach from them.

08

The Diploma year counted backwards from the May session

UAE schools sit the IB Diploma in the May session. The useful way to think about a Diploma year is therefore backwards from there, because almost every deadline that decides the grade falls months earlier and most of them are internal to the school rather than published by the IB.

One honesty note first. The IB does not permit automated retrieval of its pages, so no specific IB exam window or results date in this project has been confirmed from ibo.org. We therefore write about the May session as the one UAE schools sit, and we do not publish a specific date. Get the exact dates from your school's IB coordinator or from ibo.org directly — they are the only sources worth acting on, and a tutoring website is not one of them.

For IGCSE siblings in the same household, the Cambridge position is published and is worth stating precisely because it is widely got wrong. Cambridge runs its International GCSE and O Level exams in a June series and a November series. The February/March series is offered to India only; UAE candidates sit June and November. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for the zone, and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November.

The backwards table below is built from how a Diploma year actually runs rather than from published dates we cannot verify. Treat the milestones as the sequence to plan against and confirm every actual date with the school.

What happens when no specialist is free for your subject

  • Scarce areas include TOK at short notice, HL Computer Science and smaller language options
  • If the match needs a different time zone, we tell you before you book
  • No UAE home visits exist as a fallback — online is the only delivery model here
  • Rematch early rather than hoping; the first two weeks are the right time to say so

No tutoring provider covers every IB subject at every level at every hour, and the ones that imply otherwise are the ones you should distrust. Theory of Knowledge at short notice, Higher Level Computer Science, a less-taught Group 2 language, Music or Film — these are genuinely scarce, and a DAMAC Hills 2 family asking for one in March deserves a straight answer rather than a holding pattern.

So here is ours. If we have a specialist free who matches the subject and level, we propose them and you take a free trial lesson with that person. If the only available specialist works from a different time zone, we say so and offer the slots that exist, which for most of our roster means early morning or evening in Gulf Standard Time. If nobody suitable is free at all, we say that too, and we would rather lose the enquiry than put a general tutor in front of a Higher Level candidate eight weeks before a session.

There is one substitution we will never make, and it is worth stating because the market does make it: we do not offer a home visit in the UAE as a fallback when the online match is hard. There is no UAE visiting service to fall back on. IB Gram has no office, centre or branch in the UAE, and nobody on our roster will arrive at a DAMAC Hills 2 address. Everything we deliver here is one-to-one over live video.

If the match is wrong once it starts, say so early. A mismatch between a competent tutor and a particular student is common and is nobody's failure; it is a reason to change tutor, not a reason to spend a term hoping. Tell us in the first fortnight and we rematch.

Where we tutor

DAMAC Hills 2 and the Dubailand communities around it

DAMAC Hills 2 does not sit alone. It is part of a belt of villa and townhouse communities along the Dubailand and Al Qudra corridor, and families in all of them share the same problem: good schools are a drive away, and so is any tutor willing to make that drive. Online delivery makes the road irrelevant.

DAMAC Hills 2

A villa and townhouse community off the Al Qudra corridor, formerly marketed as Akoya Oxygen. Residents drive out for secondary schooling, which means a 3:30pm pickup can become a 4:30pm arrival home and a session that cannot start before five.

DAMAC Hills

The older and more built-out neighbour, home to Jebel Ali School. Families here often have a shorter school run than DAMAC Hills 2 households but request the same Diploma specialisms, particularly the HL sciences.

Arabian Ranches 3

The newest Ranches phase and the closest established community on the Emirates Road side. Shares the Dubailand school pool and the same evening traffic pattern on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.

Mudon

A Dubai Properties community on the Al Qudra side with a largely primary-age population moving up through MYP. Parents here tend to come to us at the MYP-to-DP transition rather than in the exam year.

Town Square

Nshama's development further along the corridor, dense with young families and the same thin local tutor supply. Sessions here commonly run after 6pm because both parents commute into the city centre.

Remraam

An apartment community near Dubailand served by South View School. Household budgets here are tighter than in the villa districts, which makes the travel premium on an in-home visit a real deciding factor.

Dubai Sports City

Fifteen to twenty minutes towards the city, with Victory Heights Primary, GEMS United and Bradenton Preparatory Academy. A genuine school cluster, and the nearest place a DAMAC Hills 2 family is likely to find an IB school run.

Motor City

Home to GEMS Metropole and a settled British-curriculum population. Many DAMAC Hills 2 students travel here daily, which is why our scheduling questions start with which school, not which community.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in DAMAC Hills 2

DAMAC Hills and the Al Qudra corridor

The schools a DAMAC Hills 2 family can actually reach on a daily run. Jebel Ali School sits inside DAMAC Hills itself; the rest are a ten to twenty-five minute drive depending on the hour. Named here as the local education landscape, nothing more.

  • Jebel Ali School
  • Fairgreen International School
  • South View School
  • The Aquila School
  • Ranches Primary School
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School, Arabian Ranches

Dubai Sports City, Motor City and Dubailand

The nearer end of the city's main school belt, and where most DAMAC Hills 2 secondary students end up enrolled. Several of these run the IB Diploma alongside or instead of A Levels, which is why Diploma demand from this corridor is heavier than the population would suggest.

  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • GEMS United School, Dubai Sports City
  • Bradenton Preparatory Academy
  • Dunecrest American School
  • Lycée Français Jean Mermoz

Wider Dubai IB provision

Where DAMAC Hills 2 families send a child who wants a specific Diploma subject combination that the nearer schools do not offer. These are a long commute from the Al Qudra corridor, and a long commute is exactly what rules out an in-home tutor on a school night.

  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • GEMS Wellington Academy, Silicon Oasis
  • Hartland International School
  • Dubai International Academy, Al Barsha

Schools are named here only to describe the education landscape around DAMAC Hills 2; IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the school, the subjects and the levels

Not just 'IB maths'. Which school in or near DAMAC Hills 2, which course, which level, and what the last report or mock actually said. Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL and Applications and Interpretation SL need different tutors, and the school's scheme of work decides the order topics are taught in.

  2. 02

    A diagnostic on real questions

Before any plan is written, the student works through past-paper questions at their own level while a specialist watches. That conversation is where the actual problem surfaces, and it is usually narrower than the school report implies — a command term misread, a technique never taught, a topic missed during a term abroad.

  3. 03

A free trial lesson with the tutor who would continue

Not a sales call and not a different person. The specialist proposed for your child teaches a full session, and you and the student judge the fit afterwards. If it is not right, nothing has been spent and we propose somebody else. This is the only part of the process that tells you anything reliable.

  4. 04

A fixed weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time

We set the time around the school run from Motor City, Sports City or wherever your child is enrolled, and around prayer times and family commitments. Most DAMAC Hills 2 sessions settle between 4:30pm and 9pm. The slot stays the same week to week, because a moving slot is the main reason tutoring quietly stops.

  5. 05

Review against the criteria, not against a feeling

Every few weeks the tutor reports in terms of the published assessment criteria and the marks they carry: which criterion has moved, which paper technique is now reliable, what is still weak. If progress stalls, that review is where we change the plan or change the tutor rather than carrying on.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched on the course, not the postcode

The constraint on good tutoring in DAMAC Hills 2 was never distance; it was whether anybody nearby had taught your child's specific Diploma course. Online delivery removes distance from the equation entirely, so the match is made on subject, level and assessment experience.

We say plainly that we do not visit UAE homes

Several providers leave the delivery model vague until a parent has paid. Ours is on every page: one-to-one over live video for the UAE, with home visits offered only in India. You will never be surprised by it, and you will never be waiting at the door.

AED figures with the source named

Three of six ranking competitors publish no price at all and two quote US dollars. We publish the Dubai market bands in AED with each figure attributed to the provider that published it and the month it was read, so you can check them. None of them is presented as our rate.

The academic-honesty line stated in writing

A tutor teaches, explains criteria, reviews method and gives feedback on the student's own draft. A tutor does not write, rewrite or finish coursework. In a search result that contains operators selling completed Internal Assessments, publishing that boundary is the useful signal.

No regulator claims and no invented statistics

IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, MoHRE, IB or Cambridge approval, accreditation or partnership, and does not imply one. Every number on this page carries its source and its date. We publish no self-generated star ratings and no satisfaction percentages.

The trial decides, not the brochure

A free trial lesson with the tutor who would actually teach your child tells you more in sixty minutes than any amount of copy. If the fit is wrong, you have spent nothing and we propose somebody else. That is the whole of our argument.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in DAMAC Hills 2: your questions answered

Can I get an IB home tutor who comes to our villa in DAMAC Hills 2?+

Not from IB Gram. We deliver one-to-one IB tuition to DAMAC Hills 2 families online, over live video, and we do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE — in-home visiting is a service we run in India only. Other providers in Dubai do offer home visits, at published market rates of roughly AED 180-500 an hour including travel. From the Al Qudra corridor that rate carries a long drive inside it. Our view is that for a Diploma subject the scarce thing is a specialist who has taught the course, not a person in the room, so we optimise for the specialist.

Are there really no IB Diploma specialists living near DAMAC Hills 2?+

There are some, and for broad MYP or primary support the local pool is adequate. It thins sharply for a named Diploma subject at Higher Level. Dubai's Diploma population is about 7% of 387,441 private-school pupils spread across the whole emirate, only the final two years of which sit the Diploma, so any single course at a single level is a small cohort citywide and smaller still in one community. Add that serving school teachers may not tutor students enrolled at their own school, and the realistic local supply for something like Chemistry HL is often zero.

How much should I expect to pay for IB tutoring from DAMAC Hills 2?+

Dubai market rates, read from published provider pages in October 2026: qualified online subject tutors run AED 150-300 an hour, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200; IB and IGCSE specialists run AED 200-450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270; in-home visits run AED 180-500 including travel. Monthly packages advertised include around AED 799 for eight online sessions. Those are market figures from the named providers, not IB Gram prices. Take the free trial lesson and get a direct quote, because the right number depends on the subject, the level and how many weeks remain.

Does a tutor working with a DAMAC Hills 2 family need a MoHRE permit?+

Yes. Any individual charging for private tuition in the UAE needs a MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's service page lists a two-working-day completion time through its smart app, website or e-services. Eligible applicants include school and sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged 15 to 18. Ask any tutor directly for their permit and verify it through MoHRE. MoHRE states that tutoring without one attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no amounts are published, so ignore figures circulating online.

Which schools do DAMAC Hills 2 children usually attend?+

Jebel Ali School sits in neighbouring DAMAC Hills, and families commonly travel to Fairgreen International School, South View School, The Aquila School, Ranches Primary School and JESS Arabian Ranches on the Al Qudra side. For secondary, many go towards Motor City and Dubai Sports City — GEMS Metropole, Victory Heights Primary, GEMS United, Bradenton Preparatory Academy, Dunecrest American School and Lycée Français Jean Mermoz. We name these to describe the local landscape; IB Gram has no affiliation with any of them. The school matters to us because it sets the scheme of work and the pickup time.

What time can lessons realistically start given the DAMAC Hills 2 school run?+

Most families here are collecting from schools ten to twenty-five minutes away, and in the evening peak that becomes longer, so a 3:30pm bell often means a 4:30pm arrival home. Because nobody is driving to you, an online session can start at 4:30pm or 4:45pm with no further wait. In practice DAMAC Hills 2 slots settle between 4:30pm and 9pm Gulf Standard Time, set around prayer times and other commitments. We fix the slot and keep it, because sessions that move every week are the ones that quietly stop happening.

How much help with an IB Internal Assessment is actually allowed?+

A tutor can help your child do it; a tutor cannot do it for them. Permitted support is teaching the underlying content, explaining what each criterion asks for and what marks it carries, helping narrow the research question until it is answerable, reviewing whether a method will produce usable data, and giving feedback on a draft your child has written. Not permitted: writing any part of it, supplying text to insert, rewriting the prose, or editing it to a finish. Operators in this market sell completed IAs. That is an academic-honesty breach and it puts the whole Diploma at risk.

Is online tutoring actually effective for an IB student who prefers face to face?+

For most Diploma students, yes, and for some younger children, no. The honest split is about self-regulation. A Year 12 or 13 student working through past-paper questions with a specialist on a shared screen loses nothing to the format and gains marking they can see annotated in real time. A primary-age child who needs a phone taken off the table benefits from physical presence. If your child is in the second group, be sceptical of any online provider, including us. The free trial lesson is how you find out which group they are in without spending anything.

When do IB and IGCSE exams happen for students in DAMAC Hills 2?+

UAE schools sit the IB Diploma in the May session. We deliberately publish no specific IB date, because ibo.org blocks automated checking and we will not put an unverified exam date in front of a parent — get it from your school's IB coordinator or ibo.org. For Cambridge, the position is published: International GCSE and O Level run in a June series and a November series, and the February/March series is offered to India only, so UAE candidates sit June and November. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November.

Who regulates my child's school, and does that affect tutoring?+

Dubai private schools, including every school a DAMAC Hills 2 family uses, are overseen by KHDA, which is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate and inspects annually from Outstanding to Very Weak. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain fall under ADEK, Sharjah under SPEA, Ras Al Khaimah under its Department of Knowledge, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah under the federal Ministry of Education. None of them regulates or approves private tutors — that is MoHRE's permit. Treat any provider that implies a regulator endorses its tutors with real caution.

Do DAMAC Hills 2 pupils take Arabic and Islamic Education as well as the IB?+

Yes. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA required its current requirements to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. KHDA also requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, stating that combined classes are strictly prohibited because the curriculum expectations and language of instruction differ. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. These subjects sit alongside the Diploma, not inside it, and they still appear on the school report.

What do the MoE equivalency rules ask of a British-track student here?+

For the British track the published requirement is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. For the American track, English proficiency is IELTS academic 5, TOEFL iBT 61 or SAT 450 in reading and writing, and mathematics requires at least SAT Math 450. No IB points threshold has been verified, so we publish none — check moe.gov.ae. IB Gram does not perform or guarantee equivalency.

How quickly can a tutor be matched for a DAMAC Hills 2 family?+

For common Diploma subjects at Standard Level and most MYP work, we usually propose a specialist and a trial slot within a few days. Higher Level sciences, Higher Level Computer Science, Theory of Knowledge at short notice and smaller language options take longer and sometimes cannot be covered at all in a given term. We tell you which case you are in rather than holding the enquiry open. If the only matching specialist is in another time zone, we say so and offer the slots that genuinely exist before you commit to anything.

What happens if we take the trial lesson and the tutor is not right?+

Nothing has been spent and we propose somebody else. A mismatch between a capable tutor and a particular student is common and is not a failure on either side — pace, explanation style and personality all matter more than credentials once a basic competence threshold is passed. If it only becomes clear two or three sessions in, tell us in the first fortnight and we rematch. The thing not to do is spend a term hoping it improves, which is how families lose both the money and the term.

Can one tutor cover two subjects for the same child?+

Sometimes, and it is worth asking, because a single tutor who sees the whole workload can balance an IA deadline in one subject against a mock in another. Maths and Physics overlap enough that one specialist often covers both credibly. Chemistry and Biology less so at Higher Level, where the content depth pulls apart. What we will not do is stretch one tutor across subjects they do not genuinely teach to save you a match — two competent specialists beat one generalist in every Diploma scenario we have seen.

Can sessions move during Ramadan or the school holidays?+

Yes, and most DAMAC Hills 2 families do move them. During Ramadan, school days shorten and evenings reorganise around Iftar, so sessions commonly shift to late morning, early afternoon or post-Iftar slots, and some families pause for part of the month and resume with a heavier block afterwards. Over summer and the winter break, we keep sessions running for students who are travelling, because the time zone of the tutor is already part of the arrangement rather than an obstacle to it. Tell us the new pattern and we reset the slot rather than cancelling.

Start with one hour, then decide

If you came here looking for an IB home tutor in DAMAC Hills 2, you now have the honest version: the local pool of Diploma specialists is thin, the travel premium on an in-home visit buys presence rather than expertise, and the market rates in this part of Dubai run AED 150-300 an hour online and AED 180-500 in-home according to the providers who publish them. IB Gram's answer is one-to-one tuition over live video, delivered to DAMAC Hills 2 on Gulf Standard Time, with no home visits anywhere in the UAE. The way to test that is a free trial lesson with the specialist who would teach your child. Tell us the school, the subject and the level, and we will arrange it.
