IGCSE Home Tutor in DAMAC Hills 2

Most families hunting for an IGCSE home tutor in DAMAC Hills 2 ask about availability first and board second. It should be the other way round. Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel set different papers, number their syllabuses differently and tier differently, and a tutor who does not know which one your DAMAC Hills 2 school enters is guessing. IB Gram matches by syllabus code and teaches one-to-one over live video.

IB & IGCSE in DAMAC Hills 2

Does anyone near DAMAC Hills 2 actually know your child's IGCSE syllabus?

Here is the question under the question. A parent in DAMAC Hills 2 searching for an IGCSE home tutor is rarely worried that nobody can teach Year 10 maths. They are worried that the person who turns up will teach Year 10 maths in general, miss the fact that the school enters Pearson Edexcel 4MA1 rather than Cambridge 0580, and spend six months drilling the wrong paper structure. That worry is well founded, and it is the thing this page is about.

IGCSE is not one qualification. Cambridge International runs its own IGCSE syllabuses, numbered in that familiar four-digit way — 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology. Pearson runs International GCSE with its own codes and its own structure, 4MA1 for maths and 4PH1 for physics among them. The content overlaps heavily. The papers do not. Tiering works differently, the number of papers differs, and the way a grade is arrived at differs. A tutor fluent in one and unfamiliar with the other will teach competently and still cost your child marks.

The second part of the honest answer is about geography. DAMAC Hills 2 sits well out along the Al Qudra corridor, in a belt of newer villa communities where the professional tutoring supply has not caught up with the residential build-out. Dubai's tutors cluster near the older school districts. A tutor prepared to drive out to DAMAC Hills 2 on a Tuesday evening is a smaller group than a tutor prepared to work in Al Barsha, and once you narrow that group to the correct board and the correct subject, it can empty out entirely.

IB Gram does not solve this by finding somebody closer. We solve it by removing distance from the problem. Lessons for DAMAC Hills 2 families are delivered one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE — in-home visiting is a service we run in India only. That means the pool you choose from is defined by which specification a tutor teaches, which is the variable that actually decides the grade.

KHDA reported 387,441 pupils across Dubai's 227 private schools in 2024-25, with UK-curriculum schools accounting for 37% of enrolment — the largest single bloc. That is a very large IGCSE cohort, which is exactly why the market is full of general tutors advertising to it and short of tutors who will tell you which specification they teach. Ask the question. A specialist answers it in one sentence.

There is a timing point too, and it is the one DAMAC Hills 2 parents most often wish they had heard a year earlier. Tier decisions in Cambridge and Pearson subjects are taken during Year 10, and they set the grade ceiling for the rest of school. A child placed on Core or Foundation cannot reach the top grades however well they are taught, and moving tier means covering content the reduced route never included. So the first question we ask a Year 10 family is not about grades at all. It is which tier each subject is entered for, and whether that is compatible with what the child wants to do after sixteen. The answer decides whether the next twelve months are urgent or ordinary, and both of those are useful things to know.

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

DAMAC Hills 2 families meet IGCSE as one stage in a longer route, and what comes after it changes what good support looks like now. These are the stages we cover and what each actually demands.

KS3Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Key Stage 3, the years before IGCSE

The two years before option choices are where IGCSE grades are quietly decided. Algebraic manipulation, scientific explanation and extended writing all have to be secure before a specification is layered on top. Schools assess internally and report in levels or percentages, which tells a parent very little about readiness for a Cambridge Extended tier paper.

In DAMAC Hills 2 this is the most common point of arrival from another system. A child moving in from CBSE, an American school or a different UK school meets a new topic order mid-stream. We use a diagnostic on Year 9 material rather than a report grade, because the report is measuring a syllabus the child may only have met in March.

IGCSE and International GCSE

Two years, typically eight to ten subjects, examined externally at the end. Cambridge offers many subjects in Core and Extended tiers with different grade ranges; Pearson structures its International GCSE differently and offers modular assessment in some subjects. Grades are 9-1 or A*-G depending on subject and board, and both scales appear on UAE school reports.

Dubai schools do not all use the same board, and some use both across different departments — maths with Pearson, sciences with Cambridge, for instance. That is normal and it is why we ask for the code per subject rather than per school. It also means a single household can need two differently specialised tutors.

A Level / DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

What IGCSE feeds into

Most UAE British-curriculum schools split after Year 11 into A Levels or the IB Diploma. The IGCSE grades a student holds decide which subjects are open to them: a maths-heavy A Level or Higher Level Diploma course usually expects a strong Extended-tier or higher-grade maths result, and sciences expect the equivalent.

DAMAC Hills 2 families frequently have both routes available within a reachable commute, with British-curriculum schools nearby and IB Diploma provision towards Motor City and the wider city. That makes the Year 11 grade more consequential here than in a community with only one option, because it is the gatekeeper to both.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IGCSE subjects DAMAC Hills 2 families request most, with the specification detail that matters and the place marks actually go. Board coverage is confirmed at the trial lesson, not promised in advance.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended; Pearson 4MA1 Foundation and Higher

The two boards diverge most here. Cambridge Extended caps higher than Core and the paper count differs; Pearson Higher tier covers content Cambridge Core never touches. Marks are lost on non-calculator fluency, on unstructured multi-step problems, and on failing to show method where method carries the marks.

Physics

Cambridge 0625; Pearson 4PH1

Definitions must be precise and formulae must be applied with units carried through. Electricity, waves and energy transfer are the recurring weak areas. Where a school cannot run every practical, the Alternative to Practical paper becomes the assessed route and needs its own preparation.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620; Pearson 4CH1

Moles and stoichiometry are the wall. Students who can balance an equation still lose marks converting between mass, moles and volume under time pressure. Qualitative analysis and the required ionic tests are heavily examined and easy to drill once identified as the gap.

Biology

Cambridge 0610; Pearson 4BI1

Volume of recall plus precision of command term. Describe, explain and suggest want different answers, and a student who writes a description where an explanation is asked loses the mark regardless of knowledge. Experimental design and data interpretation questions reward structured practice.

English Language

Cambridge 0500 and 0990; Pearson 4EA1

Directed writing and the extended response carry most of the marks, and both are won on structure and register rather than vocabulary. Reading questions test selection and inference against a mark scheme that rewards precise textual reference, not retelling.

English as a Second Language

Cambridge 0510 and 0511

A common entry for students newer to English in Dubai schools. Assessment is split across reading, writing, listening and, in some variants, speaking. Progress is fast with targeted work because the skills are discrete and measurable rather than diffuse.

Economics and Business Studies

Cambridge 0455 and 0450; Pearson equivalents

Diagrams must be drawn and then used. Data-response questions reward applying a concept to the stimulus and reaching a judgement; definitions alone score low. Students who revise by memorising terms plateau quickly and need case-based practice instead.

Computer Science and ICT

Cambridge 0478 and 0417

The theory paper tests data representation, logic and networks as much as programming, and the practical component needs documented evidence rather than working code alone. Students comfortable at a keyboard often lose marks on hand-traced algorithms and pseudocode conventions.

Additional Mathematics

Cambridge 0606

Taken by stronger cohorts as a bridge to A Level or Higher Level Diploma maths. Calculus and trigonometric identities appear earlier than in standard IGCSE, and students carrying small algebraic weaknesses find them exposed immediately. This is the single most common bridging request we see.

Arabic

Cambridge first and additional language routes

Arabic is mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of curriculum, and KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs with different curriculum expectations. Support must match which stream the student sits, because the two are not interchangeable.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three working patterns for DAMAC Hills 2 IGCSE students, all delivered online over live video. The right one depends mostly on how far through Year 10 or 11 you are.

Weekly one-to-one across Years 10 and 11

A fixed slot with one board-specific tutor, following the school's own topic order rather than a generic syllabus sequence. Over two years this is what produces a grade rather than a rescue. The tutor tracks which specification objectives have been covered in class and fills the ones that went past too quickly.

  • Sixty or ninety minutes weekly in a fixed Gulf Standard Time slot
  • Tutor matched to the exact syllabus code your school enters
  • Work paced against the school scheme of work, not a textbook order
  • Half-term reviews against specification objectives

Year 11 examination block

A denser run from after the mocks to the series. Past papers from the correct board under timed conditions, marked against the published mark scheme, with the error pattern driving what gets taught next. This works when understanding is broadly present and output is not, and it does not work as a substitute for two missing years.

  • Diagnostic on correct-board past papers before anything is planned
  • Two or three sessions weekly through the final term
  • Timed practice marked to the mark scheme, not to a feeling
  • Explicit coverage of the Alternative to Practical paper where relevant

Single-subject repair

One subject, one term, a specific gap. Moles in Chemistry. Electricity in Physics. Algebraic fractions in maths. A narrow brief with a defined endpoint, which is often all a capable student needs and is considerably cheaper than a general arrangement running all year.

  • Scope agreed as a topic list before the first session
  • Six to ten sessions typical, then a review and an honest stop
  • No rollover into open-ended tutoring unless you ask for it
  • Suited to resit candidates targeting the November series

Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel? Find out before you hire anyone

This is the first question to ask your school office, and it takes one email. Which board, and which syllabus code, for each subject. Schools in Dubai are not obliged to use one board across the curriculum, and plenty do not — a maths department on Pearson and a science department on Cambridge is an ordinary arrangement, and the school report will not usually tell you.

Why it matters comes down to paper structure. Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 splits into Core and Extended, with Core capped at a lower grade and a different paper pairing from Extended. Pearson International GCSE Mathematics 4MA1 runs Foundation and Higher tiers with its own paper structure. Both assess broadly similar mathematics. Neither prepares a student for the other's paper. A tutor drilling Cambridge Extended past papers at a child entered for Pearson Higher is teaching useful mathematics in an unhelpful shape.

The sciences repeat the pattern. Cambridge numbers them 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry and 0610 Biology; Pearson uses 4PH1, 4CH1 and 4BI1. Practical assessment differs, the balance between recall and application differs, and the command-term vocabulary each board favours differs. Pearson also offers modular assessment in some subjects, which changes when a student can bank a result — a genuinely different planning picture from a single terminal series.

So the single most valuable thing on this page is not a rate or a testimonial. It is the instruction to get the codes first, bring them to the conversation, and refuse to hire anyone who cannot immediately say which specification they teach.

Core, Extended and the grade ceiling parents are not told about

Tiering is the most consequential thing on a Dubai IGCSE report that nobody explains at parents' evening. Cambridge offers many subjects in Core and Extended versions. They are different papers with different content coverage, and the Core route cannot reach the top grades at all. Pearson's Foundation and Higher tiers work on the same principle. A child sitting Core who needs a high grade for a Higher Level Diploma course is not going to get there, no matter how well they are tutored.

Tier decisions are usually made by the department during Year 10, based on class performance, and they are often reversible for a while. That window is the point at which tutoring has the most leverage it will ever have. A student moved from Core to Extended in Year 10 has a different ceiling for the rest of their school career. A student moved in February of Year 11 is being set up to sit a harder paper with no time to cover the extra content.

So the first conversation we have with a DAMAC Hills 2 family in Year 10 is not about grades. It is about tier, and whether the current tier is compatible with what the child says they want to do at sixteen. If it is not, there is a window and it is closing. If it is, the work is ordinary and steady and does not need urgency manufactured around it.

The table below sets out what the tier decision actually governs. The point of it is the last column: the tutoring implication is different in each row, and treating a tier question as a grades question wastes the window.

What IGCSE help costs around DAMAC Hills 2, cheapest option first

Start at the bottom of the market, because that is where most families start and it is where the most money is wasted. Budget online tutoring in Dubai advertises from AED 33-65 an hour — Tutopiya from AED 33-52, EdFlik from AED 45-65. At that price you are buying homework supervision from somebody capable and generalist. For a Year 9 student who needs company and structure, that can be genuinely good value. For a Year 11 student sitting Pearson Higher tier in eight weeks, it is money spent on the wrong thing.

The next band up is where IGCSE work properly belongs. Unitors publishes qualified online IGCSE tutoring from AED 150 an hour. Specialist IB, IGCSE and A Level tutors run AED 200-450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270 and Bestimate's Dubai research putting the specialist band at AED 200-450 plus. Premium named tutors go further, with BartyED publishing AED 650.

In-home visiting sits apart from that ladder rather than above it. Bestimate puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350, and home-tutor listings go to AED 500, travel included. Monthly in-home packages advertised in the Dubai market run AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour sessions. From DAMAC Hills 2 that premium is paying for a drive down the Al Qudra corridor, and the thing to ask is whether the tutor who makes that drive is the one who knows your syllabus code.

Every figure here was read from the publishing provider's own page in October 2026 and belongs to them. None is an IB Gram price — we do not publish a rate card on these pages, because the honest number depends on the subject, the board and the weeks remaining. Take the free trial and get a quote.

The November series as a resit route, and the deadlines nobody mentions

One correction first, because it circulates widely among UAE parents and it is wrong. Cambridge's February/March series is offered to India only. UAE candidates sit the June series and the November series. If anyone has told you your child can resit in March, they are describing a different country's provision, and planning around it costs a term.

Cambridge runs its International GCSE and O Level exams in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for the zone — and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Check your school's zone, not a timetable found by search.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. For a sense of how the November route actually times out: the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and results for a November series reach students in January — the November 2025 results landed on 22 January 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables well ahead of each series, so always work from the live official PDF rather than any date restated on a tutoring site, including this one.

The practical consequence for a DAMAC Hills 2 family is that a disappointing June result does not mean a whole year lost. It means a November entry, a defined block of work across the summer and first term, and a result in January. That is a real plan, and it is a better one than the panic that usually follows results day.

Five subjects at grade E: the equivalency rule most parents get wrong

If there is any chance of a UAE university, or of needing a UAE-attested certificate, the Ministry of Education's equivalency requirements change which subjects matter. The published British-track rule is that a student must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must additionally show one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than grade E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade.

The detail that catches families is which subjects count. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. They are mandatory school subjects — KHDA requires them in all Dubai private schools regardless of curriculum — and they still do not count towards the equivalency five. So a student with five passes of which two are Arabic and Islamic education does not have five for this purpose. One competitor page currently ranking for UAE IGCSE queries states that candidates must take six subjects; that is not what the published rule says.

For the American track, for comparison, English proficiency is a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and mathematics requires at least 450 in SAT Math before applying. For the IB, no points threshold has been verified from an official Ministry source, so we publish none — anyone who quotes you an IB equivalency figure should be asked where they read it.

IB Gram does not perform, process or guarantee equivalency or attestation. It is a Ministry process and the Ministry is the only authority on it. What we can do is make sure that the five subjects your child is relying on are the five they are actually going to pass, which is a tutoring question with a clear answer.

How science practicals work if the tutoring is online

  • The Alternative to Practical paper is a written paper and responds well to one-to-one work
  • Hands-on bench technique happens at school and no tutor substitutes for it
  • Prediction, anomaly handling and write-up to the mark scheme are where marks concentrate
  • Ask the school which practical route each science subject is entered for

This is the sensible objection to online IGCSE science tuition and it deserves a real answer rather than a reassurance. Practical skills are assessed, and a tutor on a screen is not standing next to a burette.

What matters is how the boards actually assess practical work. For many Cambridge science entries the assessed route is a written Alternative to Practical paper, which tests the understanding behind experimental work: reading a measuring instrument, spotting a flawed method, identifying a control variable, drawing and using a results table, plotting and interpreting a graph. Every one of those is a paper skill, and paper skills are exactly what one-to-one screen work improves. Students routinely lose more marks on that paper than on any content topic, because schools under practical-timetable pressure teach it last.

Where a school does run assessed laboratory work, the hands-on part happens at school and cannot be replaced by any tutor, in person or online. What a tutor contributes is the preparation and the analysis around it: predicting what the experiment should show, handling anomalous results, propagating uncertainty into a conclusion, and writing up to the mark scheme's expectations. That is where the marks sit even for a student whose technique at the bench is fine.

So the honest position: online tuition cannot teach bench technique, and bench technique is a small share of the assessed marks. It can teach the Alternative to Practical paper and the analysis, which together are a large share. If your child's school enters a practical-assessed route, ask them which, and we will match a tutor who has prepared students for that specific component.

07

Is the tutor you hire permitted to teach in the UAE?

Private tuition in the UAE is a permitted activity rather than an unregulated one, and most parents have never been told. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 Regarding the Introduction of Private Tuition Work Permits, is issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and is granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE's own service is Issuance of a New Work Permit — Private Tutor Licensing, applied for through its smart app, website or e-services, with a stated two-working-day completion time.

Eligibility is wider than most families expect: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. A university student tutoring your Year 10 child can hold a valid permit. The question is only whether they have one. MoHRE states that individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published — Khaleej Times reported that the ministry did not specify amounts, so disregard any figure circulating informally.

There is also a boundary worth knowing. The permit's code of conduct bars a tutor from serving students affiliated with their own school, and press reporting on ADEK's professional-ethics rules in Abu Dhabi describes the same restriction for school staff there. If a provider offers you your child's own classroom teacher privately, that is a fact about the provider.

For completeness: an individual needs the MoHRE permit, while an organisation operating tutoring from premises in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson approval, accreditation or partnership and does not claim one.

Why we deliver online to DAMAC Hills 2 and what you give up

  • In-home wins on physical presence and attention management for younger students
  • Online wins on board-specific specialist choice and an earlier start time
  • Screen sharing makes marked past-paper work visible and reviewable later
  • We make no home visits in the UAE; the trial lesson tests the format for free

A page arguing only one side of this is not worth reading, so here is the trade honestly. An in-home tutor can take a phone off the table, notice a child disengaging before the parent does, and exert a physical presence that a screen cannot. For a younger or less self-managing student, that is worth paying for and no amount of online convenience replaces it.

What you give up for it, from DAMAC Hills 2 specifically, is the pool and the hour. The pool, because the people willing to drive out along Al Qudra Road on a school night are a fraction of the market and a smaller fraction once filtered to the correct board. The hour, because the same traffic that pushes your school run to a 4:30pm arrival also pushes the tutor's arrival, and a session that starts at six and finishes at half seven is being taught to a tired child.

Online delivery inverts both. The tutor is chosen on whether they teach Pearson 4MA1 or Cambridge 0580, and the lesson can start the moment your child is home and fed. Screen sharing makes past-paper marking visible and annotatable, and notes persist for revision months later. Against that, a poor connection ruins a lesson, and a student who will not engage with a screen will not engage with ours.

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE. There is no UAE visiting service, no office and no centre here; in-home tutoring is something we offer in India only. That is a limit, we publish it on every page, and the free trial lesson is how you find out whether it is a limit that matters for your child before you spend anything.

Where we tutor

Where DAMAC Hills 2 sits, and why that changes the tutoring question

The Al Qudra and Dubailand communities share one feature relevant to tutoring: schools and tutors are both a drive away. These are the neighbourhoods around DAMAC Hills 2 and what differs between them.

DAMAC Hills 2

Villa and townhouse community off the Al Qudra corridor, previously marketed as Akoya Oxygen. Secondary schooling means a daily drive, and an evening return that pushes any in-home session past six o'clock.

DAMAC Hills

The more established neighbour, with Jebel Ali School inside it. IGCSE demand here concentrates on maths and the separate sciences in Year 11, a pattern the newer community mirrors a year or two behind.

Mudon

Largely primary and lower-secondary families on the Al Qudra side. Enquiries from Mudon tend to be Year 9 readiness rather than Year 11 rescue, which is the better time to start.

Remraam

Apartment community served by South View School. Budgets here make the travel premium on an in-home visit a decisive factor rather than a detail, which is why online rates get a fair hearing.

Arabian Ranches 3

The newest Ranches phase, closest to DAMAC Hills 2 on the Emirates Road side. Shares the same school pool and the same Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road evening pattern.

Town Square

Nshama's community further down the corridor, dense with British-curriculum families. Sessions commonly run after six because both parents commute into the city centre.

Dubai Sports City

The nearest real school cluster towards the city, fifteen to twenty minutes out. Several schools there enter mixed boards across departments, which is exactly why we ask per subject.

Ask the school office for the exam board and syllabus number for each subject — Cambridge 0580 or Pearson 4MA1, 0625 or 4PH1. One email gets all of them. We will not propose a tutor without it, because matching on subject alone is how the wrong specification gets taught for a term.

  2. 02

Diagnostic on the correct board's past paper

The student works through real questions from the specification they are actually entered for, while a specialist watches. This surfaces the genuine gap, which is usually narrower than the school report suggests: a technique never covered, a command term misread, a topic missed during a move.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson with the tutor proposed

The same specialist who would continue teaches a full session. You and your child judge the fit afterwards. If it is not right, nothing has been spent and we propose somebody else. This is the only part of the process that tells you anything you can rely on.

  4. 04

A fixed slot that fits the DAMAC Hills 2 school run

Set around pickup from Motor City, Sports City or wherever your child is enrolled, and around prayer times. Most slots here settle between 4:30pm and 9pm Gulf Standard Time, and they stay put, because a slot that moves weekly is the main reason tutoring quietly stops.

  5. 05

    Review against specification objectives

Every few weeks the tutor reports in terms of the specification: which objectives are now secure, which paper technique is reliable, what remains weak. If nothing has moved, that review is where the plan or the tutor changes rather than where reassurance is offered.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched by syllabus code, not by subject name

Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 are different papers. We ask which one your school enters before proposing anybody, because a tutor drilling the wrong board's past papers is teaching real mathematics in a shape that will not be examined.

The tier conversation, early enough to matter

Core versus Extended decides the grade ceiling, and the decision window is in Year 10. We raise it at the first conversation rather than discovering it in February of Year 11, because by then the tier is fixed and the options have narrowed.

Correct exam-series information for the UAE

UAE candidates sit the June and November Cambridge series. The February/March series is India-only, and we say so plainly because planning a resit around it costs a term. Pearson International GCSE runs May/June and November.

Rates in AED with the publisher named

Three of six ranking competitors publish no price at all and two quote US dollars. Every figure here carries the provider who published it and the month it was read, and none of them is presented as our rate.

No regulator claims, no invented numbers

IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson approval or partnership, has no UAE office, and publishes no self-generated star ratings or satisfaction percentages. Every figure on this page has a source and a date.

The limit stated up front

We deliver online one-to-one to DAMAC Hills 2 and we make no home visits anywhere in the UAE. You will never be waiting at the door, and you will never discover the delivery model after paying for it.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in DAMAC Hills 2: your questions answered

Will an IGCSE tutor come to our home in DAMAC Hills 2?+

Not one of ours. IB Gram delivers one-to-one IGCSE tuition to DAMAC Hills 2 online, over live video, and makes no home visits anywhere in the UAE — in-home visiting is an India-only service for us. Other Dubai providers do visit, at published market rates of roughly AED 180-500 an hour including travel, and from the Al Qudra corridor that rate carries a long drive inside it. Our argument is that the scarce thing is a tutor who teaches your child's actual specification, and distance is what was stopping you getting one.

How do I find out which IGCSE board my child's school uses?+

Email the school office and ask for the exam board and syllabus code for each subject. You are looking for either a Cambridge four-digit number such as 0580 for Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry or 0610 Biology, or a Pearson code such as 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1 or 4BI1. Schools can and do mix boards across departments, so ask per subject rather than assuming one answer covers everything. Bring those codes to any tutoring conversation. A specialist will tell you immediately which they teach; a generalist will change the subject.

How much does the Cambridge or Edexcel distinction change the tutoring itself?+

It matters at the paper, which is where the grade is decided. The underlying content overlaps heavily, so a capable tutor will teach your child real and correct subject material either way. What differs is tiering, paper pairing, formula provision, practical assessment route and the command-term vocabulary each board favours. A term of past-paper practice from the wrong board trains the wrong instincts about what a question is asking for. Pearson also offers modular assessment in some subjects, which changes the planning picture entirely compared with a single terminal series.

Is my child on Core or Extended, and can that change?+

Ask the department, because it is rarely stated clearly on a report. Cambridge Core and Pearson Foundation tiers cover a reduced syllabus and cap below the top grades; Extended and Higher cover the full syllabus with the full grade range. The decision is usually made during Year 10 on class performance and is often reversible for a while. That window is where tutoring has the most leverage, because moving up requires covering extra content, not merely practising harder. By February of Year 11 the window has effectively closed.

What do DAMAC Hills 2 families typically pay for IGCSE tutoring?+

Published Dubai figures, read in October 2026: budget online tutoring from AED 33-65 an hour (Tutopiya, EdFlik), qualified online IGCSE tutors from AED 150 (Unitors), IGCSE and A Level specialists at AED 200-450 and above (TutorChase AED 270, Bestimate 200-450+), and in-home visits at AED 180-500 including travel. Monthly in-home packages advertised run AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour sessions. Those are the publishing providers' figures, not ours. We quote after the free trial, because the honest number depends on subject, board and weeks remaining.

Can my child resit IGCSE in February or March?+

Not in the UAE. Cambridge's February/March series is offered to India only, and UAE candidates sit the June and November series. This is worth stating plainly because the belief circulates widely and planning a resit around a March sitting costs a term. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. A disappointing June result therefore means a November entry, a focused single-subject block over the summer and first term, and a result in January — the November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026.

When do November IGCSE results arrive and what can we do with them?+

In January. Pearson's November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and results for a November series reach students in January; November 2025 results landed on 22 January 2026. For context, June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026. A January grade is still useful for post-16 applications, and schools are used to receiving updated grades at that point. Always work from the awarding body's live official timetable rather than dates restated on any tutoring site.

How many IGCSE passes does a DAMAC Hills 2 student need for MoE equivalency?+

Five. The published British-track requirement is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus either one accredited Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary Level subjects at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects, which catches families out because both are mandatory in Dubai schools. One competitor page currently states six subjects are required; that is not the published rule. Verify on moe.gov.ae — we do not process equivalency.

If our lessons are online, how does the practical side of IGCSE science get covered?+

Depends on the entry. For many Cambridge science entries the assessed route is a written Alternative to Practical paper, which tests reading instruments, spotting flawed method, identifying control variables, tabulating results and interpreting graphs — all paper skills that one-to-one screen work improves directly, and often where students lose the most marks because schools teach it last. Where a school runs assessed laboratory work, the bench technique happens at school and no tutor replaces it. The tutor's contribution there is prediction, anomaly handling, uncertainty and writing up to the mark scheme.

Does a private IGCSE tutor in Dubai need a licence?+

Yes, a permit. Any individual charging for private tuition in the UAE needs a MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE lists a two-working-day completion time through its smart app, website or e-services. Eligible applicants include school and sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged 15 to 18. Ask any tutor for the permit and verify it with MoHRE. Tutoring without one attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no amounts are published.

Which schools near DAMAC Hills 2 run IGCSE?+

The UK-curriculum schools along the Al Qudra corridor and into Dubailand: Jebel Ali School in neighbouring DAMAC Hills, South View School, The Aquila School, Ranches Primary School and JESS Arabian Ranches on the nearer side, and GEMS Metropole in Motor City, Victory Heights Primary, Safa Community School and Dubai Heights Academy further in. UK-curriculum schools account for 37% of Dubai private enrolment, the largest bloc. These are named as local context; IB Gram has no affiliation with any of them. The school matters because it sets the board and the topic order.

My child is in Year 11 with mocks done badly. Is it too late?+

It depends on what the mock actually showed, which is why we diagnose before quoting. If the content has been taught and the output is poor — timing, command terms, method marks not shown, wrong-board instincts — a focused block through the final term moves a grade realistically. If a year of foundations is missing in a subject, a term will not replace it, and we will say so rather than sell you sessions. The second case is usually better served by narrowing to fewer subjects and entering the November series for the rest.

Can one tutor cover maths and a science for the same child?+

Often yes, and it has a real advantage: a single tutor who sees the whole workload can balance a maths mock against a Chemistry topic test instead of each tutor optimising for their own subject. Maths and Physics pair particularly well because the algebraic and graphical demands overlap. Chemistry and Biology pair less naturally. What we will not do is stretch one tutor across subjects they do not genuinely teach in order to save you a second match — two correct specialists beat one willing generalist in every case we have seen.

Do Arabic and Islamic Education still have to be taken alongside IGCSE?+

Yes. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, and KHDA required its current arrangements to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. KHDA also requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, stating combined classes are strictly prohibited because curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. These subjects sit alongside IGCSE and do not count towards the equivalency five.

Can lessons shift during Ramadan or while we are travelling?+

Yes, and most DAMAC Hills 2 families change the pattern at least twice a year. During Ramadan school days shorten and evenings reorganise around Iftar, so sessions commonly move to late morning, early afternoon or post-Iftar slots, and some families pause part of the month and resume with a heavier block. While travelling, sessions continue, because the tutor's location is already part of the arrangement rather than an obstacle to it. Tell us the new pattern and we reset the fixed slot rather than letting sessions lapse.

Get the syllabus codes, then get the right tutor

If you are looking for an IGCSE home tutor in DAMAC Hills 2, the most useful ten minutes you will spend is an email to the school office asking for the board and syllabus code of every subject.
