IGCSE Tutor near me in DAMAC Hills 2

An IGCSE tutor near me in DAMAC Hills 2 is a search about two clocks at once: the school run that ends your child's day somewhere after half four, and the twenty-four months from the start of Year 10 to results day. IB Gram plans around both, teaching one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time so that no part of the evening is spent waiting for anybody to arrive.

  • Plans run from the start of Year 10, not from the mock results
  • Session times set from your school's actual finish time
  • One-to-one live video; IB Gram makes no UAE home visits

IB & IGCSE in DAMAC Hills 2

Two clocks decide whether IGCSE tutoring works out here

The first clock is the daily one. DAMAC Hills 2 sits out along the Al Qudra corridor, and almost every secondary student in the community is driven to a school somewhere else — Motor City, Dubai Sports City, deeper into Dubailand, sometimes further. A day ending at half three becomes a 4:30pm arrival home once the afternoon traffic on Hessa Street and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road is counted. Whatever happens next has to happen in a tired hour, and a tutor who still has to drive out here makes that hour later still.

The second clock is the one families notice too late. IGCSE is a twenty-four month qualification. Year 10 September to results day in August of Year 11 is the whole window, and most of what decides the grade happens in the first half of it — tier decisions, the topics that go past too fast, the habit of showing method or not showing it. By the time a mock result arrives in the middle of Year 11, roughly eighteen of those twenty-four months are spent.

Most tutoring in Dubai is bought on the second clock reading eighteen. A family searches after a disappointing mock, hires whoever can start quickly, and asks for a grade to move in a term. Sometimes that works, when the content is present and the output is poor. Often it does not, because what was actually missing was a year of algebra or a term of chemistry that nobody noticed going.

IB Gram's answer to the first clock is to remove travel from it. Lessons for DAMAC Hills 2 families are one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, and we make no home visits anywhere in the UAE — in-home tutoring is a service we run in India only. A session can therefore start at 4:30pm, while your child is still awake enough for it to stick, instead of at half six when a visiting tutor has cleared the traffic.

Our answer to the second clock is to ask what year group your child is in before anything else, and to plan differently for Year 10 than for February of Year 11. UK-curriculum schools account for 37% of Dubai's private enrolment, the largest single bloc of the 387,441 pupils KHDA reported across 227 schools in 2024-25, so there is no shortage of general IGCSE tutoring available. There is a shortage of plans that start early enough to be ordinary rather than urgent.

One practical note before the detail. Ask the school office for the exam board and syllabus code of every subject, because Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel set different papers and tier differently, and schools here routinely use both across different departments. A tutor who cannot say immediately which specification they teach is guessing, and a term of the wrong board past papers trains the wrong instincts about what a question is asking for.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

What stage your child is at changes the whole shape of the help. These are the stages we cover around IGCSE for DAMAC Hills 2 families and what each one actually needs.

Y9Ages 13-14 · Year 9

Year 9, the year before it counts

The year option choices are made and tier placement begins to be decided by class performance. Nothing is examined externally, which is exactly why it is undervalued: algebraic fluency, scientific explanation and extended writing are all cheaper to fix here than they will ever be again. Reports are internal and tell a parent little about readiness for an Extended-tier paper.

In DAMAC Hills 2 this is the commonest point of arrival from another system, and a child moving in from CBSE, an American school or a different UK school meets a new topic order halfway through. We diagnose on Year 9 material rather than trusting a report grade, because the report may be measuring a syllabus the child only met in March.

Y10Ages 14-15 · Year 10

Year 10, where the grade is decided

The first of the two examined years. Most of the syllabus content is taught here, tier decisions are confirmed, and the habits that produce or lose method marks are set. A student who ends Year 10 secure in each subject's foundations is in a completely different position from one who ends it a term behind in two of them.

This is the year DAMAC Hills 2 families most often skip and most often regret skipping. One session a week through Year 10 is ordinary, unurgent and considerably cheaper than the three-sessions-a-week rescue it prevents. It is also the only point at which a tier change is still realistic.

Y11Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Year 11 and the examined series

Mocks, then entries, then the series. The work shifts from learning content to producing marks: timing, command terms, showing method, reading a question for what it actually asks. Grades arrive as 9-1 or A*-G depending on subject and board, and both scales appear on UAE school reports side by side.

By February of Year 11 the honest conversation narrows. Some subjects can move a grade with focused work on technique; others need a November entry instead of a June one. We would rather have that conversation than sell a family sessions in six subjects when three of them cannot realistically move.

Post-16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

What the grades open up

Most UAE British-curriculum schools split after Year 11 into A Levels or the IB Diploma, and IGCSE grades are the gate. A maths-heavy A Level or Higher Level Diploma course expects a strong Extended-tier or high-grade maths result, and the sciences expect the equivalent in theirs.

DAMAC Hills 2 families usually have both routes within a reachable commute, which makes the Year 11 grade more consequential here than in a community with one option. It is worth deciding at the start of Year 10 which doors you intend to keep open, because tier placement closes some of them quietly.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IGCSE subjects DAMAC Hills 2 students most commonly need, with the board codes to check and the specific place marks go. Coverage is confirmed at the trial lesson rather than promised in advance.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended; Pearson 4MA1 Foundation and Higher

Non-calculator fluency and multi-step unstructured problems are where the marks go. Method marks are routinely lost by students who can reach a right answer but write nothing down. Tier matters more here than in any other subject because the grade ceiling differs.

Physics

Cambridge 0625; Pearson 4PH1

Precise definitions, units carried through every step, and the ability to rearrange a formula under pressure. Electricity, waves and energy transfer recur as weak topics. Where the school enters the Alternative to Practical route, that paper needs its own preparation.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620; Pearson 4CH1

Moles and stoichiometry are the wall almost every student hits. Balancing equations is not the same skill as converting between mass, moles and volume against a clock. Qualitative analysis and the required ion tests are heavily examined and quick to fix once named.

Biology

Cambridge 0610; Pearson 4BI1

Recall volume plus command-term precision. Describe, explain and suggest want different answers, and a knowledgeable student writing the wrong one scores low. Experimental design and data-interpretation questions respond well to structured weekly practice.

English Language

Cambridge 0500 or 0990; Pearson 4EA1

Directed writing and the extended response carry the weight, and both are won on structure and register rather than vocabulary. Reading questions reward precise textual reference against the mark scheme; retelling the passage scores almost nothing.

English as a Second Language

Cambridge 0510 and 0511

A common route for students newer to English in Dubai schools, assessed across reading, writing and listening with speaking in some variants. Progress is measurable and fast with targeted work because the component skills are discrete rather than diffuse.

Economics and Business Studies

Cambridge 0455 and 0450

Diagrams must be drawn and then used in the answer. Data-response questions reward applying a concept to the stimulus and reaching a judgement; definitions alone plateau at the lower bands. Memorising terminology is the commonest wasted revision strategy here.

Computer Science and ICT

Cambridge 0478 and 0417

The theory paper tests data representation, logic and networks at least as much as code, and students comfortable at a keyboard often lose marks hand-tracing algorithms or writing pseudocode to convention. The practical component needs documented evidence, not just working output.

Additional Mathematics

Cambridge 0606

A bridge to A Level or Higher Level Diploma maths, taken by stronger sets. Calculus and trigonometric identities arrive early, and any residual algebraic weakness is exposed immediately. The most frequent bridging request we receive from this corridor.

Arabic

Cambridge first and additional language routes

Mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of curriculum, with KHDA requiring separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs because curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ. Support has to match the stream the student actually sits.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways DAMAC Hills 2 families use us across the IGCSE years, all delivered online over live video. The right one depends almost entirely on which of the twenty-four months you are standing in.

Year 10 steady weekly

One fixed session a week through the first examined year, following the school's own topic order and closing gaps as they appear rather than after they have compounded. This is the cheapest version of IGCSE support and the most effective, and it is the one most families only wish they had bought once Year 11 has started.

  • Sixty minutes weekly in a fixed Gulf Standard Time slot
  • Paced against the school scheme of work, not a textbook order
  • Tier compatibility reviewed early, while the decision is still live
  • Half-term reviews against specification objectives

Year 11 mock-to-series block

From after the mocks to the series: correct-board past papers under timed conditions, marked to the published mark scheme, with the error pattern deciding what gets taught next. Effective where content is present and output is poor. Not a substitute for a missing year, and we will say so after the diagnostic rather than after the invoice.

  • Diagnostic on the correct board's papers before any plan
  • Two or three sessions weekly through the final term
  • Timed practice marked to the mark scheme
  • Honest subject triage: what can move, what should wait for November

Single-subject repair, fixed scope

One subject, one named gap, a defined endpoint. Moles in Chemistry, electricity in Physics, algebraic fractions in maths. Six to ten sessions, then a review and a deliberate stop. For a capable student with one hole in one subject this is usually all that is needed and it costs a fraction of a general arrangement.

  • Topic list agreed as scope before the first session
  • Six to ten sessions, then an honest review
  • No automatic rollover into open-ended tutoring
  • Also the right shape for a November resit entry

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in DAMAC Hills 2

01

The twenty-four months from Year 10 to results day

Nobody publishes this, and it is the most useful thing a Year 9 or Year 10 parent in DAMAC Hills 2 can read. IGCSE is not an exam you prepare for in the spring of Year 11. It is a two-year programme in which the content is largely delivered in the first year and the marks are produced in the second, and the decisions with the longest consequences are taken earliest.

Walk it forwards. September of Year 10: options settled, tiers provisionally set, content begins. Through Year 10: most of the syllabus taught, and the point at which a tier change is still realistic because it only requires covering extra content rather than cramming it. Summer between the years: the only unpressured block available, and the cheapest place to fix a foundation gap. Autumn of Year 11: remaining content, then mocks.

Then it accelerates. Mock results, usually mid Year 11, are the first external-feeling signal most families get. Entries are confirmed by the centre months before the papers. The June series runs, results arrive in August, and a November entry becomes the route for anything that did not land. Read backwards from results day and you can see that by the time a mock disappoints, about three quarters of the window has gone.

The table maps that out with what should already be done at each point. Use it to work out which row you are in, because the honest plan for a family in the second row and one in the sixth are not the same plan at all.

Where the usable hours are in a DAMAC Hills 2 week

Scheduling kills more tutoring arrangements than teaching does. A family agrees a time that works in September, then football moves to Tuesdays, a coursework deadline lands in November, and by February the sessions have quietly stopped without anyone deciding to stop them. Choosing the slot properly at the start is worth more than any amount of rescuing later.

Out here there are four real windows. Straight off the school run, between 4:15pm and 5:30pm, which only exists because nobody is driving to you. After dinner from seven, which competes with the student's own best independent hour. Late, from eight, which Year 11 students use well and younger students cannot. And weekend mornings, which are the most reliable and the least booked.

Which window to pick depends on age and on how many children are in the car. A Year 9 or Year 10 student usually does best straight after the run, while the day is still fresh enough to take new teaching. A Year 11 student in exam term often prefers the late slot and a longer session, because a full past-paper section plus marking does not fit comfortably into sixty minutes. A household running three school runs frequently finds that weekend mornings are the only honest answer, and we would rather say that than agree a weekday slot destined to collapse.

The table sets the four windows against what work each actually supports. Decide it with your child present; they know which hour they can think in better than either of us does.

What a Dubai school report does not tell you

  • A working grade means little without knowing the tier it was judged against
  • 9-1 and A*-G appear side by side on UAE reports and do not map neatly
  • Effort scores measure compliance, not readiness for a paper
  • A marked correct-board past paper is the only reliable diagnostic

A UK-curriculum report in Dubai typically gives a current working grade, a target grade, an effort score and a comment. Each of those is less informative than it looks, and families act on them anyway because there is nothing else to act on.

The working grade is the biggest trap, because it is usually a teacher's judgement against the tier the student is currently entered for. A 6 on Core and a 6 on Extended are not the same achievement, and the report rarely says which. Nor does it usually say what the tier caps at. A parent reading a steady run of 6s can reasonably assume things are fine and discover in Year 11 that the ceiling was below what the intended A Level course requires.

Grading scales add more confusion. Depending on subject and board, UAE reports carry 9-1 and A*-G side by side, sometimes in the same document, and the two do not map neatly. The effort score, meanwhile, measures compliance and is often the only column parents read closely, which is understandable and almost never diagnostic.

What is genuinely diagnostic is a marked past paper from the correct board at the correct tier. That is why our process starts with one rather than with the report. Twenty minutes of watching a student work through real questions tells a specialist more than a term of grades: whether method is being shown, whether command terms are being read, whether the failure is knowledge or timing or technique.

What IGCSE help costs around DAMAC Hills 2

The published Dubai market, read from provider pages in October 2026, sorts into clear bands. Budget online tutoring advertises from AED 33-65 an hour, with Tutopiya from AED 33-52 and EdFlik from AED 45-65. Qualified online subject tutors run AED 150-300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150. IGCSE, IB and A Level specialists run AED 200-450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270 and Bestimate's Dubai research putting the specialist band at AED 200-450 plus. At the top, BartyED publishes AED 650.

In-home visiting is priced separately rather than higher up the same ladder. Bestimate puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350, and UAE home-tutor listings reach AED 500, travel included. Monthly in-home packages advertised run AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour sessions, against around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour arrangement are AED 240-600 budget, AED 600-1,200 mid and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year work.

The part worth thinking about from this corridor is what the in-home premium buys. For a Year 9 or Year 10 student with poor self-regulation, physical presence is worth real money and online is the weaker option. For a Year 11 student working through Pearson Higher past papers, the premium is paying for a drive down Al Qudra Road and the person making that drive may or may not know the specification.

Every figure above belongs to the provider named beside it. None is an IB Gram price — we publish no rate card on these pages, because the honest number depends on the subject, the board, the year group and the weeks remaining. Take the free trial and get a quote.

The June series, the November route, and the series that does not apply here

Start with the correction, because it circulates among UAE parents constantly. Cambridge's February/March series is offered to India only. UAE candidates sit the June series and the November series. If anyone has told you a March resit is available, they are describing another country's provision, and planning around it costs a term.

Cambridge runs its International GCSE and O Level exams in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for the zone, and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Ask your school which zone it sits in rather than downloading a timetable from a search result.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. For the actual timing of a November route: the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and November results reach students in January — the November 2025 results landed on 22 January 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables well in advance, so always work from the live official PDF rather than a date restated on any tutoring site.

For a DAMAC Hills 2 family the practical consequence is that a disappointing June is not a lost year. It is a November entry in the subjects worth re-entering, a focused block over the summer and first term, and a result in January in time to update post-16 applications. That is a plan, and it beats the scramble that usually follows results day.

06

Is the tutor you hire permitted to teach in the UAE?

Private tuition here is a permitted activity rather than an unregulated one, and the silence about that mostly benefits people operating without a permit. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 Regarding the Introduction of Private Tuition Work Permits, is issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and is granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE's own service is Issuance of a New Work Permit — Private Tutor Licensing, applied for through its smart app, website or e-services with a stated two-working-day completion time.

Eligibility is broader than most families assume: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. So a university student tutoring your Year 10 child can hold a valid permit. The question is only whether they do. MoHRE states that individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, and Khaleej Times reported that the ministry did not specify amounts, so disregard any number circulating informally.

One boundary catches well-meaning families. The permit's code of conduct bars a tutor from serving students affiliated with their own school, and press reporting on ADEK's professional-ethics rules describes the same prohibition for Abu Dhabi school staff. If a provider offers your child's own classroom teacher privately, that tells you something about the provider.

An individual needs the MoHRE permit; an organisation running tutoring from premises in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson approval, accreditation or partnership and claims none.

07

Five subjects at grade E, and the two that do not count

If a UAE university or an attested certificate is anywhere in the plan, the Ministry of Education's equivalency rules change which grades matter. The published British-track requirement is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade.

The catch is which five. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. Both are mandatory in Dubai private schools — KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies regardless of the licensed curriculum, with its current arrangements to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year — and neither counts towards the equivalency five. A student with five passes of which two are Arabic and Islamic education does not have five for this purpose.

For comparison, the American track requires English proficiency of IELTS academic 5, TOEFL iBT 61 or SAT 450 in reading and writing, plus at least SAT Math 450. For the IB, no points threshold has been verified from an official Ministry source, so we publish none and you should ask anyone who quotes you one where they read it. One competitor page currently ranking for UAE IGCSE queries states that six subjects are required, which is not what the published rule says.

IB Gram does not perform, process or guarantee equivalency or attestation. It is a Ministry process and the Ministry is the only authority on it. What tutoring can do is make sure the five subjects a plan relies on are the five that will actually be passed.

08

What we do not claim

  • No self-generated ratings and no statistics without n, date and method
  • No regulator approval claimed, no UAE office, no home visits
  • No past papers or mark schemes supplied as downloads
  • No grade or improvement guarantees, in any subject, at any stage

Some things are absent from this page deliberately, and their presence elsewhere is worth noticing. The list is short, and each item on it is something a competing page in this search result does carry.

No star rating, no satisfaction percentage, no average grade achieved by students we have taught. Competitors publish figures like 4.9 from several hundred reviews, occasionally two conflicting versions in the same document, and none states a sample size, a date or a method. A statistic without those three is decoration, and we would rather publish none than publish decoration.

No regulator claim. IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson approval, accreditation, licence or partnership, has no office, centre or branch anywhere in the UAE, and will not send a tutor to a DAMAC Hills 2 address. No past papers, mark schemes, syllabus documents or grade-boundary tables are offered as downloads either; those belong to the awarding bodies, and we cite and link them instead.

And no guarantee of a grade or an improvement. Nobody can honestly offer one, the offer itself tells you what kind of operation is making it, and in a market where several ranking pages do offer one, declining to is information. What we will do is diagnose honestly, say which subjects can realistically move in the time available, and tell you when the answer is a November entry rather than more sessions. We also publish no specific IB or Cambridge exam date here beyond the series names, because dates get revised and the awarding body timetable is the only version worth acting on.

Where we tutor

DAMAC Hills 2 in the Dubailand belt, community by community

Each community along this corridor has a slightly different drive to its schools, and that difference decides which part of the evening is usable. Here is how the belt around DAMAC Hills 2 breaks down.

DAMAC Hills 2

Off the Al Qudra corridor, previously marketed as Akoya Oxygen. Secondary students travel out daily and a half three finish usually means a 4:30pm arrival, which is the number every schedule here should start from.

DAMAC Hills

Jebel Ali School sits inside the community, so families enrolled there have a short run and can use a 4pm session that DAMAC Hills 2 households generally cannot.

Remraam

Apartment community served by South View School, with the shortest school run in the belt for those enrolled there. Household budgets here weigh the in-home travel premium more carefully than the villa districts do.

Mudon

Al Qudra side, with a largely younger population moving up through Years 8 and 9. Enquiries here are usually readiness rather than rescue, which is the better and cheaper time to start.

Arabian Ranches 3

The nearest established community on the Emirates Road side, sharing the same school pool. Collection often runs twenty minutes earlier, which widens the usable evening noticeably.

Serena

A quieter Dubailand community on the same corridor with the same structure: housing here, schools a drive away, and a very thin local pool of board-specific IGCSE tutors.

Town Square

Further down the corridor and dense with British-curriculum families. Both parents commonly commute into the city, so sessions here settle after six or on weekend mornings.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the year group first

Year 9, Year 10 or Year 11 changes everything that follows, because the honest plan for a family with eighteen months left and one with four is not the same plan. Then the school, and what time your child actually reaches the door rather than the bell time.

  2. 02

Get the board and syllabus code per subject

One email to the school office returns them: Cambridge 0580, 0625, 0620, 0610, or Pearson 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1, 4BI1. Schools mix boards across departments, so ask per subject. We will not propose a tutor without the codes, because matching on subject alone is how the wrong paper gets practised.

Diagnostic on the correct board's paper

The student works through real questions from the specification they are actually entered for while a specialist watches. That is where the genuine gap appears, and it is usually narrower and more fixable than the school report implies — method not shown, a command term misread, one topic missed.

  4. 04

Free trial lesson in the slot you mean to keep

The proposed specialist teaches a full session at the time you intend to use, so you test the hour as well as the tutor. If either is wrong, nothing has been spent and we change it. This is the only part of the process that produces reliable information.

  5. 05

Fix the slot, review against the specification

The time stays the same week to week, around prayer times, sport and family commitments, with a deliberate reset for Ramadan. Every few weeks the tutor reports against specification objectives rather than feelings: what is secure, what technique is now reliable, what is still missing.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

We ask which of the twenty-four months you are in

A Year 10 plan and a February-of-Year-11 plan are different products. Most providers sell the same weekly session to both. We would rather tell a Year 11 family that three subjects can move and two should wait for November than quietly take the fee for five.

Planned from your school's finish time

The first question is what time your child reaches the door, because in DAMAC Hills 2 that number decides which of four usable windows exists. A session fifteen minutes after they get home is a different lesson from one at half six with a tired student.

Matched by syllabus code

Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 set different papers with different tiering. We ask which your school enters before proposing anybody, because a term of the wrong board's past papers trains the wrong instincts about what a question wants.

Correct UAE exam-series information

UAE candidates sit the June and November series; the February/March series is India-only, and we say so because planning a resit around it costs a term. Pearson International GCSE runs May/June and November, with November results reaching students in January.

AED rates with the publisher and the date

Three of six ranking competitors publish no price at all and two quote US dollars. Every figure here names the provider who published it and the month it was read, and none is presented as an IB Gram price.

Limits published before you commit

No home visits anywhere in the UAE, no office here, no regulator approval claimed, no downloads of awarding-body material, and no grade guarantees. None of that becomes apparent only after a term has been paid for.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in DAMAC Hills 2: your questions answered

When should a DAMAC Hills 2 family start IGCSE tutoring?+

Year 10, if the aim is a grade rather than a rescue. IGCSE is a twenty-four month programme: most content is taught in Year 10, tier decisions are confirmed there, and the habits that win or lose method marks are set there. One unurgent session a week through Year 10 costs considerably less than the three-a-week block it prevents in Year 11. By the time a mock result arrives mid Year 11, about three quarters of the window has already been spent, and some options are no longer available.

What time can an IGCSE session start after the school run out here?+

For a short run — Jebel Ali School in DAMAC Hills or South View in Remraam — around 4:00pm to 4:15pm. From GEMS Metropole in Motor City or the Dubai Sports City cluster in peak traffic, 4:45pm is realistic. From an inner-city school, closer to 5:15pm, and many of those families use an 8pm slot instead. These times are only possible because nobody is driving to you; a visiting tutor leaving another part of Dubai in the same traffic is realistically starting at half six.

Is there an IGCSE tutor actually living near DAMAC Hills 2?+

Some, and for general Year 9 support the local pool is adequate. It thins once you require the correct board and the correct tier for a Year 11 subject. Dubai's tutor supply clusters around the older school corridors rather than the newer Dubailand communities, so a tutor prepared to drive out along Al Qudra Road on a school night is a small subset, and a smaller one again after filtering for Pearson 4MA1 versus Cambridge 0580. Online matching removes the filter that was never relevant to the grade.

Which weekly window works best for a Year 11 student in this community?+

Usually the late one, 8pm to 9:30pm, and usually ninety minutes rather than sixty, because a full past-paper section plus marking does not fit comfortably into an hour. Year 11 students in exam term are often sharpest once the house is quiet. The 4:15pm window suits Years 9 and 10 better, while attention is still fresh enough for new teaching. The 7pm slot looks convenient but consumes the student's own most productive independent hour, which is a poor trade in an examined year.

Can my child resit IGCSE in the February or March series?+

Not in the UAE. Cambridge's February/March series is offered to India only, and UAE candidates sit the June and November series. The belief circulates widely here and acting on it costs a term, so it is worth checking with your school directly. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. A disappointing June result therefore means a November entry in the subjects worth re-entering, a focused block over the summer and first term, and a result in January.

What does my child's working grade on the school report actually mean?+

Less than it appears, because it is usually a judgement against the tier currently entered, and the report rarely states the tier or its ceiling. A 6 on Cambridge Core and a 6 on Extended are different achievements. UAE reports also carry 9-1 and A*-G side by side depending on subject and board, and the two scales do not map neatly. Effort scores measure compliance rather than readiness. The reliable diagnostic is a marked past paper from the correct board at the correct tier, which is where our process starts.

How much should a DAMAC Hills 2 family budget per month for IGCSE help?+

Bestimate's Dubai research puts a weekly one-hour arrangement at roughly AED 240-600 a month for budget tutoring, AED 600-1,200 for mid-tier and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year work. Advertised packages include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four in-home two-hour visits. Those figures belong to the providers who published them, read in October 2026, and none is an IB Gram price. We quote after the free trial, because subject, board and year group all change the answer.

Does the in-home travel premium buy anything useful in Year 11?+

For most Year 11 students, not much. In-home visits are published at AED 180-500 an hour including travel, and from the Al Qudra corridor a meaningful share of that is the drive. What it buys is physical presence — genuinely valuable for a younger or less self-managing student, where someone can take a phone off the table. For a Year 11 candidate working through correct-board past papers, the thing that moves the grade is whether the tutor knows the specification, and that is not correlated with how close they live.

How many IGCSE subjects should a Year 11 student take tutoring in?+

Fewer than most families start with. Three sessions a week across five subjects in Year 11 produces shallow coverage of all of them and a student too tired to use any of it. We would rather diagnose, name the two or three subjects where a grade can realistically move in the time available, concentrate there, and tell you plainly that the others are better served by a November entry or by the student's own revision. That conversation is unpopular and it is the honest one.

Do we need a licensed tutor, and how would we check?+

Yes, and you ask. Any individual charging for private tuition in the UAE needs a MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years, with MoHRE listing a two-working-day completion time through its smart app, website or e-services. Eligibility covers school and sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged 15 to 18. Request the permit and verify it with MoHRE. Tutoring without one attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no amounts are published.

Which IGCSE schools are within reach of DAMAC Hills 2?+

On the Al Qudra side: Jebel Ali School in neighbouring DAMAC Hills, South View School in Remraam, The Aquila School, Ranches Primary School, JESS Arabian Ranches and Fairgreen International School. Further in: GEMS Metropole in Motor City, the Dubai Sports City cluster including Victory Heights Primary and GEMS United, Safa Community School, Dubai Heights Academy and Dunecrest American School. UK-curriculum schools are 37% of Dubai private enrolment, the largest bloc. Named as context only; we have no affiliation with any of them.

How many IGCSE subjects count towards UAE equivalency?+

Five, at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus either one Advanced Level subject at E or two Advanced Subsidiary Level subjects at the same grade for the British track. Note which five, though: Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five, even though both are mandatory in Dubai private schools under KHDA requirements. So five passes including those two is not five for equivalency purposes. One ranking competitor states six subjects are required; that is not the published rule. Verify on moe.gov.ae — IB Gram does not process equivalency.

How do IGCSE sessions change during Ramadan here?+

They move, and planning the move beats improvising it. School days shorten and evenings reorganise around Iftar, so the usual six o'clock slot stops working. DAMAC Hills 2 families typically switch to a late-morning or early-afternoon session, move to a post-Iftar slot, or pause part of the month and resume with a heavier block. Content also shifts towards consolidation rather than new teaching. Tell us the pattern that suits and we reset the fixed slot deliberately rather than letting a run of cancellations end the arrangement by default.

Can we book a short block for one subject rather than a term?+

Yes, and for a capable student with one specific gap it is usually the right purchase. Moles in Chemistry, electricity in Physics, algebraic fractions in maths: we agree a topic list as the scope, run six to ten sessions, review honestly and stop. There is no automatic rollover into open-ended tutoring unless you ask for it. The same shape works well for a November resit entry, where the brief is narrow and the endpoint is a specific paper rather than a general improvement.

What if the DAMAC Hills 2 trial lesson does not go well?+

Nothing has been spent and we propose somebody else. A mismatch between a capable tutor and a particular student is common and is not a failure on either side, because pace, explanation style and personality matter more than credentials once basic competence is established. If it only becomes clear two or three sessions in, tell us within the first fortnight and we rematch. What not to do is spend a term hoping, which in an examined year costs the money and the term together.
