IGCSE Home Tutor Fees in the UAE

IGCSE home tutor fees in the UAE are quoted in at least five different units - per 45-minute period, per clock hour, per 90-minute double, per calendar month and per prepaid block - which is why two quotes that look alike can differ by AED 120 a taught hour. This page converts every unit into one comparable figure, names the provider that published each market rate, and sets out what a visiting fee contains that a live-video fee does not. Lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Every AED band on this page carries the source that published it
  • All five quoting units converted to one figure: AED per taught hour
  • One-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time
  • Cambridge and Pearson entry deadlines named, with the official timetable pages

What sets the number on an IGCSE tuition quote in the Emirates

Published hourly rates for IGCSE support in the UAE run from AED 45 to AED 650. EdFlik advertises from AED 45-65 and Tutopiya from AED 33-52 at the budget end; Unitors states IGCSE tuition from AED 150; TutorChase publishes AED 270; BartyED publishes AED 650. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table puts a visiting one-to-one hour at AED 180-350 and a subject specialist at AED 200-450 and above. Those are the figures each of those providers put in public, read in October 2026. They are the market, not our price list, and a fourteen-fold spread between the bottom and the top of a market tells you the hourly number on its own decides nothing.

Four things move a quote before anyone looks at your child. The first is the unit of measure: a rate per 45-minute period is a different purchase from a rate per clock hour, and the arithmetic between them is worth AED 75 an hour at a quoted AED 225. The second is the syllabus code, because Cambridge Computer Science 0478 and Cambridge Mathematics 0580 are not supplied by pools of the same depth. The third is format - a tutor who drives to a villa in Arabian Ranches is paid for an hour and travels for another, and the rate absorbs both. The fourth is timing: an hour bought in September of Year 10 does work that the same hour cannot do in the fortnight before Paper 1.

Several costs in an IGCSE year are not the tutor's to charge. Exam entry sits with the centre, which sets and publishes its own fees, and the Cambridge entry deadline for the March 2027 series was 27 November 2026 - months before the papers. The MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, so no tutor has a licensing cost to pass on. And no authority approves a tuition rate anywhere in the country: KHDA, ADEK and the Sharjah authority approve school fees and curricula, not what a private tutor charges your family on a Tuesday evening.

IB Gram matches UAE families with IGCSE specialists who teach one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time and to the school's own assessment calendar. We do not send a tutor to an address anywhere in the Emirates; visiting tuition is something we offer only in India. The search term is IGCSE home tutor fees, so this page answers the home-tutoring question with the market numbers attached, then shows what the same money buys when the constraint of a drive is removed. The first lesson in a subject is at no charge - one lesson, one subject, no card details taken - which exists so you can judge a specialist before any money moves.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

An IGCSE fee is a fee for teaching a specific board's specification, at a specific tier, in a specific series. These are the programmes UAE schools enter students for, and each one prices differently because each one asks the tutor for a different skill.

IGCSEAges 14-16 - Years 10 and 11

Cambridge IGCSE

The dominant international route in UAE British-curriculum schools, examined by Cambridge International in a March, June or November series. Subjects carry four-digit codes - 0580 Mathematics, 0620 Chemistry, 0478 Computer Science - and the code, not the subject name, defines what a tutor has to know. Most subjects are tiered Core and Extended, with a grade ceiling attached to the Core entry. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that the correct zone timetable must be used.

In the UAE, Cambridge entries are made by the school as an exam centre, and the centre sets its own entry fees - no national figure exists to quote. The March series matters here because it gives a UAE family a third decision point in the year rather than a twelve-month wait. The practical consequence for a budget is that tier and subject count are locked at the entry deadline, which for the March 2027 series was 27 November 2026, so paid hours aimed at changing a tier have to come before that date.

IGCSEAges 14-16 - Years 10 and 11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Pearson's international route, examined in May/June and November each year, with codes in the 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1 and 4BI1 family. Several Pearson subjects can be sat in units rather than as one final block of papers, which spreads assessment across more than one sitting. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series and revises them, so a family planning spend around a date needs the live timetable page rather than a figure copied into a blog post.

A UAE household with two children at different schools can easily be paying for two boards at once, and the spending calendars differ. The Pearson November 2026 written papers ran from late October to 19 November 2026, so hours bought for that series had to be in place before the Cambridge March cohort had even started revising. Pearson released June 2026 results to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026 - dates that decide when a resit conversation, and its cost, actually happens.

O LEVELAges 14-16 - Years 10 and 11

Cambridge O Level

Cambridge runs O Level alongside IGCSE in the same June and November series, and some UAE schools enter students for O Level in particular subjects where the assessment pattern suits their cohort. The specification overlaps IGCSE in content but differs in components, and a tutor priced for IGCSE Extended is not automatically fluent in the O Level paper structure. Ask which qualification appears on the entry form before agreeing a rate for the subject.

This is where a UAE parent can quietly overpay. A tutor advertised at the specialist end of the band for IGCSE is being paid for specialism, and specialism means the exact components your child sits. If the school has entered an O Level code and the tutor has prepared IGCSE Extended candidates for nine years, the hour is still useful for content and weaker on component technique. The honest version is a lower rate or a different tutor, and a provider should say which.

A LEVELAges 16-19 - Years 12 and 13

Progression to AS and A Level

What comes after IGCSE changes what the IGCSE year is worth paying for. Cambridge International A Level and Pearson International A Level both sit in June and November series, and the Ministry of Education's British-track equivalency route asks for one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than grade E, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade, alongside five accredited IGCSE or GCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3.

That rule is the reason an IGCSE fee is not a standalone purchase. Arabic and Islamic Education are not counted among the five required subjects, which means the five have to come from the rest of the timetable and a weak result in one of them is expensive later. One ranking UAE competitor publishes a six-subject requirement; the sourced figure is five. Verify the current wording on moe.gov.ae before you plan a budget around it, and treat equivalency as a process you complete through the official channel, not a service anyone sells.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Rates do not vary by subject name. They vary by how many tutors in a time zone can teach a particular code at Extended tier, and by which component in that code is hardest to teach. These are the subjects UAE families most often buy hours for, with the codes that set the price.

Mathematics 0580 and Maths A 4MA1

Core and Extended (Cambridge); Foundation and Higher tier (Pearson)

The deepest tutor pool in the country, which is why quotes for it sit lowest in the published bands. Paper 2 and Paper 4 at Extended punish method marks lost to unshown working rather than wrong answers. An hour here is usually about writing a solution the way a marker credits it, not about new content.

International Mathematics 0607

Core and Extended

Cambridge only, and the calculator paper makes it a different teaching job from 0580. Tutors trained on 0580 are not automatically ready for 0607 graphic-display calculator technique, so the pool thins and quotes move towards the specialist band. UAE schools that teach 0607 as a bridge into the IB Diploma generate most of the demand for it.

Additional Mathematics 0606

Single tier, taken alongside Extended Mathematics

Taught in relatively few UAE schools and usually sat by students aiming at A Level Mathematics. Calculus and trigonometric identities arrive earlier than most Year 11 students expect. Because so few tutors teach it, this is one of the codes where availability, not experience, sets the rate you are quoted.

Physics 0625 and 4PH1

Core and Extended (Cambridge); single tier (Pearson)

Electricity and electromagnetism are where UAE candidates most often lose Extended marks, and Cambridge Paper 6 - the alternative to practical - asks about apparatus and method rather than content. That paper is teachable over video using the school's own practical sheets, which is why online delivery costs nothing in quality here.

Chemistry 0620 and 4CH1

Core and Extended (Cambridge); single tier (Pearson)

Organic chemistry and moles arithmetic thin the pool quickly at Extended tier, which pushes quotes into the middle and upper bands. The scarce skill is marking a six-mark extended-response answer the way a Cambridge examiner does, not explaining a reaction mechanism for the first time.

Biology 0610 and 4BI1

Core and Extended (Cambridge); single tier (Pearson)

A deeper pool than the other two sciences, so rates sit lower. The expensive gap is command-term discipline: describe, explain and suggest earn marks differently, and a student who answers all three the same way loses marks across every paper regardless of how well they know the content.

Computer Science 0478

Single tier, two papers

The thinnest pool of any IGCSE subject in this market. Paper 1 is theory and Paper 2 is algorithms and programming, and few tutors teach both with equal confidence. Families routinely pay towards the top of the published bands for it, and are sometimes offered a Paper 1 specialist at a Paper 2 rate.

Business Studies 0450 and 4BS1

Single tier

A deep pool, so a low-to-middle rate is reasonable. The scarce skill is case-study technique: applying a definition to the specific business in the insert, then evaluating with a judgement. Content-only teaching is cheap and does not move a grade 5 to a grade 7.

Economics 0455 and 4EC1

Single tier

Diagram accuracy and the eight-mark evaluation carry most of the marks that separate grades. A tutor who marks past-paper evaluations in writing between lessons is doing the work that justifies a middle-band rate; one who re-teaches elasticity from slides is not.

First Language English 0500 and English as a Second Language 0510

Single tier, different qualifications

These are two different purchases often quoted as one. 0510 has the deeper tutor pool and the lower rate; 0500 directed writing and the reading-response question need a marker who knows the band descriptors. Check which code your child is entered for before accepting a rate for English.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

There are four sensible ways to buy IGCSE hours in this market, and they are priced differently because they do different jobs. Every one of them is delivered one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, with the lesson recorded only where the family asks for it.

Weekly hour, bought by the hour

One 60-minute session a week in a single subject, paid per taught hour with no block commitment. This is the right starting purchase for almost every family, because it is the only format where you can stop after one lesson without an unused balance to argue about. It is also the format against which every other price should be compared.

  • Billed per taught hour, not per calendar month
  • Cancellation notice stated in hours, in writing, before the first paid lesson
  • Marking of one past-paper question between lessons, named as part of the hour or priced separately
  • Review at six paid hours against a written target, then decide whether to continue

A prepaid block aimed at one paper

Eight to ten hours bought at a block rate to fix a diagnosed problem: Paper 4 Extended method marks, Paper 6 alternative to practical, 0607 calculator technique, case-study evaluation. A block rate of roughly AED 205 against a single-hour rate of AED 225 is a reasonable shape for this. The discount is paid for by your commitment, so the expiry term matters more than the rate.

  • Hours valid for a named number of months, in writing
  • Usable across the child's subjects where the tutor covers more than one code
  • Tied to one named component, with the target written down before hour one
  • Unused hours carried forward rather than lapsing at month end

Exam-term intensive, priced by the week

Two or three sessions a week in the last eight to twelve weeks before a series, built around timed papers rather than topics. Bestimate's monthly estimates put specialist exam-year support at AED 1,000-2,000 and above for weekly one-hour sessions, so an intensive at two or three sessions a week is a materially larger commitment and should be bought with an end date attached.

  • An end date in the plan, usually the week before Paper 1
  • Each session anchored to a timed paper or a mark scheme, not a topic list
  • Written feedback on what cost marks, so the next hour has a target
  • Slots moved to post-Iftar timing during Ramadan without a change in rate

Sibling pair on the same code and tier

Two children in the same household sharing an hour, at roughly 60 to 70 per cent of the single rate each. This only works where both are entered for the same board, the same code and the same tier, and where both are within about a grade of each other. Where they are not, two correct hours beat one shared hour that fits neither child.

  • Same board, same syllabus code, same tier - checked against the entry, not the subject name
  • Attention per child is roughly 30 minutes in a 60-minute hour, and should be stated as such
  • Priced per child, with both figures on one invoice
  • Dropped back to one-to-one the moment the two diverge by more than a grade

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in the UAE

01

What a quoted IGCSE home tutor fee in the UAE is a fee for

  • Convert every quote to AED per taught hour before you compare anything
  • Ask whether marking between lessons is inside the figure or billed on top
  • A monthly package divides by the sessions delivered, not the sessions promised
  • A block discount is paid for with commitment, so read the expiry term first

An IGCSE home tutor fee in the UAE buys a unit of teaching time, and UAE providers quote in at least five different units. Until you convert them, the numbers are not comparable. At a quoted AED 225, a 45-minute period is AED 300 per taught hour, a clock hour is AED 225, and a 90-minute double is AED 150. Three identical-looking quotes, a spread of AED 150 an hour.

The confusion has a school-shaped origin. KHDA calculates mandatory-subject instructional time on a 40-minute lesson unit and advises that no mandatory lesson should run under 25 minutes, so UAE parents are used to thinking in periods rather than hours. A tutor who grew up teaching that timetable quotes per period without meaning to mislead anyone. The fix is one question: how many minutes of teaching, and does the figure include marking done between lessons? A provider who cannot answer that in a sentence has not thought about what it sells, and the arithmetic will be settled in their favour rather than yours every month for two academic years.

The second thing a fee is a fee for is the slot. An hour at 4pm Gulf Standard Time in April is scarce; an hour at 11am on a Saturday in October is not. Monthly packages blur this deliberately. An advertised AED 799 a month for eight online sessions is just under AED 100 a session if all eight run, and AED 133 a session if Eid and a school trip take two of them. Price the sessions you will actually take.

The published AED bands, and who put each number in public

Three of the six best-ranked pages in this market publish no price at all, and two of the three that do quote in US dollars - a currency a UAE family does not transact in. The figures below are the ones that exist in public, each attached to the provider that published it, read in October 2026. They are market rates. IB Gram does not publish a rate card on this page, because a rate quoted without the subject, the code, the tier and the hour is a number with no information in it.

Read the right-hand column of the table before the rate column. The gap between AED 150 and AED 450 for the same subject is rarely about seniority; it is about what sits inside the hour. Written marking of a past-paper question between lessons, familiarity with the exact component your child sits, and availability at a contested exam-term slot are the three things that genuinely cost more to supply. A provider that cannot name which of the three you are paying for is quoting a number, not a service.

One band deserves particular care. Premium rates at AED 500-650 are usually justified by examiner status, and no parent can verify current examiner status from a web page. Treat it as unevidenced unless the provider will say who, for which board, and in which year - and remember that examiner status gives nobody access to unreleased papers, mark schemes or grade boundaries. If it is being implied that it does, the premium is being charged for something that does not exist.

Syllabus code decides the rate long before your postcode does

Ask any UAE agency for a Maths tutor and you will be quoted near the bottom of the band. Ask for Computer Science 0478 and the same agency quotes near the top. Nothing about the children has changed. What changed is how many tutors in a workable time zone can teach that code at the tier your child is entered for, and how many of those are free at the hour you want. Scarcity of a code, not seniority of a tutor, is the single biggest driver of an IGCSE quote in this market.

This is also where a rate is most often quietly wrong in your favour and against your child. Cambridge International Mathematics 0607 is not 0580 with a different number; it carries a graphic-display calculator paper that a 0580 specialist may never have taught. Cambridge First Language English 0500 and English as a Second Language 0510 are different qualifications with different band descriptors, and the pool for 0510 is deeper and cheaper. A tutor quoted for one and supplied for the other is a mismatch no price can fix.

The defence is a single line of paperwork. Before you discuss money, ask the school for the exact code on the entry: 0580 or 4MA1, 0625 or 4PH1, Core or Extended, Foundation or Higher. Then ask the tutor to name the components of that code and where candidates lose marks in each. A specialist answers in a sentence. Anyone who answers with the subject name instead of the code should be priced as a generalist, whatever the advertised band says.

The travel hour inside a visiting fee, and what replaces it

A visiting arrangement in the UAE is priced at AED 180-500 an hour, against AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor working over live video. The gap is not a quality premium. A tutor leaving Mirdif for Arabian Ranches at 3pm is giving up something close to an unpaid hour of driving for every taught hour, and the rate has to absorb it. Nobody is overcharging; the journey is simply inside the number, and the family is the one paying for it.

Two consequences follow, and both cost money. Visiting slots carry minimum bookings of 90 or 120 minutes, because a single hour cannot justify the drive, so the smallest sum you can spend doubles. And a cancellation inside 24 hours is usually charged in full, because the slot and the journey were both already committed. Three cancelled visits across a term is close to a week of lessons paid for and not taught, which is a real number on a real invoice.

Removing the drive changes what the same money buys. A family in Khalifa City is no longer choosing between the tutors who can reach Khalifa City by 4.30pm; they are choosing from everyone free at 4.30pm Gulf Standard Time who teaches their code at their tier. That is why IB Gram delivers UAE tuition one-to-one over live video and offers visiting tuition only in India. A Fujairah household gets a Computer Science 0478 specialist rather than whoever lives within a sensible drive.

Group size, and the price of a minute of attention

A centre class is the cheapest live format per head, and the arithmetic of why is worth doing out loud. In a 60-minute class of twelve, each student's share of the teacher's direct attention is five minutes. In a group of four it is fifteen. In a sibling pair it is thirty. One-to-one is the only format where the whole hour is aimed at one child's own errors. Price per hour tells you almost nothing; price per minute of attention tells you what you bought.

That does not make groups bad value. It makes them good value for a specific job. If four Year 11 students all dropped the same marks on the same Paper 4 question, one hour spread across the four is efficient and sensible. The format breaks the moment the four need different things, because the teacher can only follow one mark scheme at a time, and the student whose error is unusual gets the least of the hour while paying the same share of it.

So buy the format that matches the diagnosis. Content you have never met is group work or a recorded course. Marks you keep losing are one-to-one, because somebody has to read your child's own script and say why it did not score. A reasonable pattern for a UAE family on a budget is a group or recorded course for coverage, plus a smaller number of one-to-one hours aimed at the two components that are actually costing grades.

The currency a quote is written in, and what reaches your card

Of the ranking pages researched for this market, the two that publish a price publish it in US dollars or pounds sterling. One routes UAE enquiries to a UK telephone number. For a family paying from a UAE account this is not a detail: a quote in a foreign currency is converted at the card issuer's rate on the day, with a foreign-transaction charge on top, and the figure that clears is not the figure on the page. Two identical-looking rates can differ by a tenth once the conversion lands.

There is a second effect, slower and more annoying. A rate fixed in sterling moves against the dirham every month, so a family that budgeted AED 1,000 for four hours in September can be paying more in February for the same four hours, with nobody having raised a price. Term-length budgeting in a foreign currency is guesswork. Ask for the quote in AED, ask whether the AED figure is the billed figure, and ask what happens if the currency moves.

Then ask who the money is actually going to. A UAE-based provider billing in AED to a named entity with an invoice is a different proposition from a transfer to a personal account for a tutor abroad. The invoice is what you hold if a block of paid hours goes unused or a tutor stops replying. It also settles the tax question honestly: ask whether the quoted AED figure is inclusive, and whether the provider holds a TRN, rather than accepting a figure with the tax position left unstated.

07

The fees that belong to the exam centre, not the tutor

Some of the most expensive dates in an IGCSE year carry no tutoring fee at all, and a family that budgets only for lessons gets caught by them. Exam entry sits with the centre, which is normally the school; centres set and publish their own entry fees, so no national figure can honestly be quoted here. Ask your school's exams officer for its fee list and its internal deadline, which always falls before the board's.

The entry deadline is the one that costs real money. Cambridge required final entries for the March 2027 series by 27 November 2026, with the exam period running 3 February to 4 March 2027 and forecast grades due 27 February 2027. Results reached centres on Cambridge Direct on 13 May, with certificates in late June. Read that sequence backwards and the planning point is obvious: the tier and the subject count are locked in November, so paid hours intended to change a tier have to come before November, not in January.

Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that the correct zone timetable must be used, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone version was used. Pearson publishes provisional timetables and revises them, which is why this page links the official timetable pages rather than restating dates. For a parent, the rule is simple: get the dates from the centre and the board, and treat anything in a blog post as unreliable.

The terms of business that change the real hourly cost

  • Cancellation window stated in hours, not described as flexible
  • Prepaid hours valid for a named number of months and usable across subjects
  • Billing on taught sessions, so a month with Eid is not a month of full fees
  • Rate fixed for the agreed block or term, with notice in writing before any review

Two providers quoting AED 250 an hour can cost a family AED 250 and AED 320 an hour respectively, and the difference is entirely in the terms. Cancellation notice, the shelf life of prepaid hours, how a month containing Eid is billed, whether the rate can move mid-year, and what happens when a match is wrong: these are the five lines that decide the real number. They are also the five lines most often agreed verbally and never written down.

The UAE calendar makes one of them particularly expensive. A monthly package priced for eight sessions delivers six in a month with Eid, a school trip or a half-term, and AED 799 over six sessions is AED 133 a session rather than just under AED 100. Billing on taught sessions rather than on a calendar month removes the problem completely, and any provider unwilling to do that is asking you to pay for weeks in which nobody teaches your child.

The rest is paperwork worth twenty minutes. Get the cancellation window in hours, the validity of prepaid hours in months, the position on a replacement tutor, and the invoice arrangement in writing before the first paid lesson. Lead forms on tutoring sites collect personal data about a minor, so ask what is collected, why, and how it is deleted - UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection is the reason that question is reasonable rather than awkward.

What no fee buys at any number

Three things in this market are offered for money and cannot legitimately be sold, and a UAE family should walk away from any of them regardless of price. The first is assessed work. Cambridge and Pearson coursework, like an IB Internal Assessment, has to be the student's own; one provider in this SERP sells finished Internal Assessments outright at AED 3,750. A tutor teaches the skill, reviews a draft the student has written, and gives feedback the student then acts on. That boundary is the service, and it should be written into the agreement.

The second is board material. Syllabuses, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables and subject guides belong to Cambridge, Pearson and the IB. A provider should cite them and link to the official pages, not supply them as downloads bundled into a package, and a charge for past papers is a charge for something the school and the board already make available through proper channels. If a rate is justified by a resource library of copied board material, you are paying for someone else's copyright risk.

The third is an outcome. No tutor can promise a grade, a tier change or a university place, and no fee makes such a promise enforceable. Ministry of Education equivalency and certificate attestation are processes families complete through the official channel; they are not services a tutoring provider performs, and nobody should be charging to arrange them. Nor can anyone sell regulator approval: KHDA's Educational Services Permit is issued to training institutes with premises, and IB Gram neither holds one nor claims any regulator's endorsement.

10

Where the fee goes when the specialist is not in the Emirates

IGCSE teaching for UAE families is delivered one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time, with the whiteboard, the past paper and the annotated script shared on screen. Visiting tuition is something IB Gram provides in India and does not provide at any UAE address. Saying so plainly is part of the price discussion: a family comparing AED 200 online against AED 400 visiting is comparing two different products, and only one of them is what we sell.

Coverage is the thing no competitor in this market discloses, so here it is. For common codes - 0580, 0610, 0450, 0510 - a UAE-based specialist is usually available inside a few days at the hour you want. For a thin code at Extended tier, such as 0478 Computer Science, 0607 International Mathematics or 0606 Additional Mathematics, the specialist who teaches both components may sit in India rather than the Emirates. We say which before you book, and the lesson is the same live video lesson either way.

What that changes is scheduling, not substance, and we will not pretend the two are identical. Gulf Standard Time runs ninety minutes behind Indian Standard Time, so an 8pm slot in Dubai is 9.30pm for a tutor in Mumbai and there is a limit to how late that works. During Ramadan, sessions move to post-Iftar timing without a change in rate. If nobody suitable is free at the only hour your family can use, the honest answer is to say so rather than to sell you an hour with the wrong person in it.

Where we tutor

What the market charges, emirate by emirate

Tuition rates are not set nationally and nothing about them is approved by a regulator. What changes across the seven emirates is which authority holds the school file, how deep the local tutor pool is, and what a drive across the emirate would have added to a visiting fee. Lessons are delivered online in all seven.

Dubai

KHDA oversees private education here, and Dubai held private school fees flat for 2026-27 under an economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. The tutoring market is the deepest and the most price-stratified in the country, which is where the AED 45-650 spread comes from.

Abu Dhabi

ADEK supervises licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate - an authority named by none of the competitors researched for this market. ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, which removes the cheapest option some families are quietly offered.

Sharjah

The Sharjah Private Education Authority regulates private education and approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. The local tutor pool is thinner than Dubai's at Extended tier, so a visiting quote for Computer Science 0478 here reflects scarcity rather than seniority.

Al Ain

Al Ain sits under ADEK with Abu Dhabi. The drive between Al Ain and the capital is long enough that a visiting arrangement for a niche code is rarely offered at all, and when it is, the travel is inside the rate. Online delivery removes that line from the quote entirely.

Ajman

The federal Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman. Families here are frequently quoted the Dubai specialist band for a tutor who then has no realistic way to reach them, which is the clearest case in the country for buying the hour over live video instead.

Ras Al Khaimah

The Department of Knowledge regulates private education in RAK and, like Sharjah, approves fees, curricula and assessment methods. RAK returned zero mentions across the entire competitor corpus researched for this market, so local families are usually working from Dubai pricing with no local reference point.

Fujairah

Private schools in Fujairah sit under the federal Ministry of Education. The east-coast location makes the travel component of any visiting fee the dominant cost rather than a surcharge, and a Saturday morning slot online is usually cheaper and easier to keep than a weekday visit.

Umm Al Quwain

Also under the federal Ministry of Education. The smallest market of the seven, with the thinnest supply of Extended-tier specialists. For a family here the useful question is not what a local tutor charges but which specialist is free at 5pm Gulf Standard Time.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in the UAE

Dubai

Dubai had 227 private schools and 387,441 students in 2024-25, teaching 17 curricula, with the UK curriculum the largest single share. The schools below enter Cambridge or Pearson IGCSE codes, and the entry fees for those codes are set by each school as the exam centre, not by the board.

  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Jumeirah College
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park
  • Kings' School Al Barsha
  • JESS Arabian Ranches
  • Dubai English Speaking College
  • Repton Dubai

Abu Dhabi and Al Ain

Schools in the capital and Al Ain sit under ADEK. Families here feel the travel component of a visiting fee hardest, because a specialist who lives in Dubai and quotes for Khalifa City is pricing two hours of driving into every taught hour, whether the invoice says so or not.

  • The British School Al Khubairat
  • Brighton College Abu Dhabi
  • Cranleigh Abu Dhabi
  • Al Yasmina Academy
  • GEMS Cambridge International School Abu Dhabi
  • Al Ain English Speaking School

Sharjah and the northern emirates

SPEA regulates Sharjah, the Department of Knowledge regulates Ras Al Khaimah, and the Ministry of Education covers Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. Across all of them the binding constraint on a tutoring budget is supply of the exact syllabus code, not the hourly rate advertised in Dubai.

  • Sharjah English School
  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • Ajman Academy
  • RAK Academy

Schools are named here as the ecosystem a UAE IGCSE family is already inside; no affiliation, partnership or endorsement is implied, and IB Gram holds none.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the entry, not just the subject

Give us the board and the four-digit or alphanumeric code from the school's entry, the tier, the series your child is entered for and the last two assessment marks. A quote built on Physics is guesswork; a quote built on 0625 Extended, Paper 4 and Paper 6, June series, last mock 48 per cent, is a real plan with a real hourly number attached.

  2. 02

One introductory lesson, at no charge

One lesson, in one subject, with no card details taken, before any payment. The point is not a sales call. It is a diagnostic: the tutor works through a question your child already got wrong, and you hear whether the explanation lands. If it does not, you have lost nothing and we will offer a different specialist.

  3. 03

One unit, one figure, in writing

Before the first paid lesson you get the rate per taught hour, what marking between lessons is included, the cancellation window in hours, the validity of any block in months and the replacement arrangement. Everything on this page that we ask you to demand of a provider is what we put in writing ourselves.

  4. 04

Buy a small block, aimed at one component

Start with six to ten hours pointed at one named component rather than a term of general support. Write the target down first: method marks on Paper 4, the Paper 6 apparatus question, the 0450 evaluation. A block with a target can be judged. A block of general help cannot, which is how families end up paying for months without knowing whether it worked.

  5. 05

    Review at six paid hours

At six hours you should be able to see a change in the thing you bought: marks on that component, in the child's own script. If you cannot, the sensible options are a different tutor, a different component or stopping. We would rather make that call with you at six hours than take payment for a term that is not working.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Every rate on this page carries its source

Each AED band here is attributed to the provider that published it and dated to October 2026. Three of the six best-ranking pages in this market publish no figure at all, and none of them cites a source for one. A number you can check is worth more to a family budgeting a Year 11 than a number that simply sounds reassuring.

One unit of measure, not five

We quote per taught hour and we convert anything else before comparing it. A rate per 45-minute period, a 90-minute double and a monthly package are three different purchases, and the arithmetic between them is worth AED 150 an hour at the same headline figure. Converting first is the cheapest thing a parent can do in this market.

Matched by syllabus code, not by postcode

The match is made on the exact code and tier on your child's entry - 0607 rather than 0580, 0500 rather than 0510, Extended rather than Core - and on who is free at your hour. Removing the drive from the equation is what makes a thin-code specialist reachable from Fujairah or Umm Al Quwain at all.

A written boundary on assessed work

A tutor here teaches the skill, reviews a draft the student has produced and gives feedback the student acts on. Nobody produces assessed work for a candidate, and nobody supplies copied board material as a download. In a market where one provider sells finished Internal Assessments, saying where the line sits is the service, not a disclaimer.

Delivery and coverage stated before you pay

Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. Where a thin-code specialist sits in India rather than the Emirates, we say so before a booking rather than after. Where nobody suitable is free at your only workable hour, we say that too, which is a worse sales line and a better answer.

Terms a parent can hold us to

Cancellation in hours, prepaid hours valid in months, billing on taught sessions rather than calendar months, a named replacement at the same rate, and an invoice from a named provider. These are the terms that decide the real hourly cost, so they are agreed in writing before the first paid lesson rather than discussed after a problem.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in the UAE: your questions answered

How do we turn three different IGCSE quotes into one number we can compare?+

Convert all three to AED per taught hour before anything else. At a quoted AED 225, a 45-minute period is AED 300 an hour, a clock hour is AED 225, and a 90-minute double is AED 150 - a spread of AED 150 between quotes that look identical. For a monthly figure, divide by the sessions you will realistically take, not the sessions advertised: AED 799 for eight sessions is just under AED 100 each, and AED 133 each if Eid and a school trip remove two. Then ask one more question of each provider: is marking between lessons inside the figure or billed on top?

Is an eight-session monthly package cheaper than buying single IGCSE hours?+

Only if all eight sessions happen. An advertised AED 799 a month for eight online sessions is just under AED 100 a session, which is well below the AED 150-300 band for a qualified subject tutor. Deliver six of them and it becomes AED 133. Lose three in a month containing Eid and a half-term and you are at AED 160, with the discount gone. Ask to be billed on taught sessions rather than on the calendar month. Any provider who will not do that is asking you to pay for weeks in which nobody teaches your child, and the UAE school year contains several of those.

Why does one IGCSE subject cost more per hour than another in the UAE market?+

Because the tutor pools are not the same depth. Cambridge Mathematics 0580 is covered by nearly every provider in the country, so quotes sit in the lower half of the published bands. Cambridge Computer Science 0478 needs someone fluent in both the theory paper and the algorithms and programming paper, and few tutors are, so quotes sit near the top. International Mathematics 0607 and Additional Mathematics 0606 are thin for the same reason. Scarcity of the exact code at the exact tier, not seniority, is the biggest single driver of an IGCSE rate here. Get the code off the school's entry form before you discuss money.

A provider quoted us in pounds sterling. What actually leaves our UAE account?+

More than the figure on the page. A foreign-currency quote is converted at your card issuer's rate on the day, usually with a foreign-transaction charge on top, so two rates that look equal can differ by a tenth once the payment clears. A sterling rate also moves against the dirham every month, which makes term-length budgeting guesswork: the same four hours can cost more in February than in September with nobody having changed a price. Ask for the quote in AED, ask whether the AED figure is the billed figure, and ask who the invoice comes from before any money moves.

Is a group of four genuinely a quarter of the one-to-one price?+

In money, roughly. In attention, exactly. A 60-minute group of four gives each student about fifteen minutes of direct attention, and the per-head rate in this market lands around AED 55-90 drawn from the budget and middle bands. That is good value where all four lost marks on the same question, because one explanation serves four children. It is poor value the moment they need different things, since a teacher can only follow one mark scheme at a time and the child with the unusual error gets the least of the hour while paying the same share.

How much direct attention does one child get in a centre class of twelve?+

About five minutes in a 60-minute lesson, which is the honest arithmetic behind the cheapest live format in the market. That is enough for a full-syllabus walkthrough before mocks, where every student needs the same coverage, and not enough to diagnose why your daughter keeps losing method marks on Paper 4. A sensible pattern on a tight budget is coverage in a class or a recorded course, plus a small number of one-to-one hours aimed at the two components actually costing grades. Price per hour tells you very little; minutes of attention per child tells you what you bought.

Who sets the IGCSE exam entry fee, and does tutoring include it?+

The exam centre sets it, which in practice means your child's school, and it is nothing to do with a tutoring fee. Centres set and publish their own entry fees, so no national UAE figure exists and anyone quoting one should be asked where it came from. Ask the school's exams officer for the fee list and for the internal deadline, which always falls before the board's. Cambridge required final entries for the March 2027 series by 27 November 2026. A tutoring provider that offers to handle or discount an entry fee is offering something that is not theirs to sell.

What does a late Cambridge entry decision cost a UAE family?+

The real cost is not a surcharge, it is a locked tier. Cambridge set final entries for the March 2027 series at 27 November 2026, with papers running 3 February to 4 March 2027. Tier and subject count are fixed at that deadline, so hours bought in January cannot change a Core entry into an Extended one, however good the tutor is. The planning move is to spend on diagnosis in October and November, when the entry decision is still open, rather than on intensive hours in January when it is not. Your school's own internal deadline will be earlier again.

Our prepaid IGCSE hours expired before we used them. Is that a normal term?+

It is a common term and a poor one. A block discount is paid for with your commitment, so the shelf life matters as much as the rate: two lapsed hours in a ten-hour block adds about a fifth to what you actually paid per taught hour. A reasonable version states validity in months, not at the end of a calendar month, and lets the hours move between your child's subjects where the tutor covers more than one code. Get both points in writing before the block is bought. If a provider will only commit verbally, buy single hours instead and lose the discount.

Can a tutoring rate be raised in the middle of Year 11?+

Nothing in UAE regulation prevents it. No authority approves private tuition rates: KHDA, ADEK and the Sharjah Private Education Authority approve school fees and curricula, not what a tutor charges your family. That is exactly why the term belongs in writing. Fix the rate for the agreed block or term and require written notice before any review. A rise justified by exam-season demand lands in February or March, which is the point in Year 11 when changing tutor costs the most, and a provider who knows that is choosing their moment rather than meeting a cost.

Is the AED rate we were quoted for IGCSE support inclusive of VAT?+

Ask the provider directly and get the answer on the invoice; do not accept a view on how tuition is treated for tax from a tutoring website, including this one. The two questions worth asking are whether the AED figure quoted is the figure that will be billed, and whether the provider holds a Tax Registration Number. A figure quoted exclusive and read as inclusive moves your real hourly cost, which is the whole reason it belongs in writing. For the tax treatment itself, the Federal Tax Authority is the only source worth relying on.

Can we watch a tutor teach before any money changes hands?+

You should insist on it. With IB Gram the first lesson in a subject is at no charge - one lesson, one subject, no card details taken - and it works best as a diagnostic rather than a conversation: the tutor takes a question your child already got wrong and teaches it. You are listening for whether the explanation lands and whether the tutor names the component and the mark scheme without being prompted. If it does not land, ask for a different specialist. A provider requiring a term in advance before you have seen a lesson is asking you to carry the whole risk.

Does a higher fee buy a better IGCSE grade?+

No, and no honest provider will promise one. What a higher rate can legitimately buy is three specific things: written marking of past-paper answers between lessons, fluency in the exact components your child sits rather than the subject in general, and availability at a contested exam-term slot. If a provider cannot say which of those three the premium is for, the premium is for nothing. Rates at the top of this market are often justified by examiner status, which a parent cannot verify from a web page and which gives nobody access to unreleased papers, mark schemes or boundaries.

Can one fee cover two children in the same household?+

Where both children sit the same board, the same syllabus code and the same tier, and are within about a grade of each other, a shared hour at roughly 60 to 70 per cent of the single rate each is sensible. Each child gets about thirty minutes of direct attention, and that should be said out loud rather than discovered. Where they are entered for different codes, different tiers or different boards, a shared hour fits neither of them and two correct hours are the better purchase. Ask for both figures on one invoice so you can see what each child's hour actually costs.

May a tutor charge for help with an IGCSE coursework piece?+

A tutor may legitimately charge for teaching the skills a coursework task needs, for explaining the assessment criteria, and for giving feedback on a draft the student has produced. What may not be sold at any price is the work itself: Cambridge and Pearson coursework must be the candidate's own, and one provider in this market sells finished IB Internal Assessments at AED 3,750, which is a malpractice trigger for the student rather than a shortcut. Expect the boundary in writing. A provider who is vague about it is being vague for a reason, and your child carries the consequence.

No UAE-based tutor is free for our subject at our hour. What happens to the fee?+

We tell you before you book rather than after. For common codes a UAE-based specialist is usually available within a few days at the hour you want. For a thin code at Extended tier - 0478, 0607 or 0606 - the person who teaches both components may be in India rather than the Emirates, and the lesson is the same one-to-one live video lesson at the same rate. What changes is scheduling: Gulf Standard Time runs ninety minutes behind Indian Standard Time, so a late Dubai slot is later still for the tutor. If nothing workable exists, we say so.

Does the fee change for the Cambridge March series rather than June?+

The tutoring rate does not, but the shape of the spending does. The March 2027 series had final entries on 27 November 2026, papers from 3 February to 4 March 2027, forecast grades on 27 February 2027 and results on 13 May 2027. That pulls every paid hour forward by roughly four months against a June cohort, so intensive weeks fall in January rather than May. Entry fees are set by your centre either way. If both your children sit different series, you are running two spending calendars in one household, which is worth mapping once in September.

Price the hour you will actually buy, then buy a small one

Published rates for IGCSE support across the UAE run from AED 45 to AED 650 an hour, and the headline figure is the least informative part of a quote. Convert every number to AED per taught hour. Get the syllabus code off the school's entry form before you discuss money. Read the cancellation window, the shelf life of a block and the billing basis, because those decide what the hour really costs. Then start small: one introductory lesson at no charge, a block of six to ten hours aimed at one named component, and a review at six hours against a target you wrote down first. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.
