IB and IGCSE tutors for DAMAC Hills 2 families

Parents looking for IB and IGCSE tutors in DAMAC Hills 2 usually start the search in week six of a term, when a report arrives and the distance between what was taught in class and what their child can do unaided becomes measurable. IB Gram matches that child to a subject specialist who teaches the exact syllabus they sit, one to one over live video, in a slot that survives the bus ride home from Dubai Investments Park or Motor City.

  • Lessons run online over live video, never at a UAE address
  • Matched by syllabus code, not by subject name alone
  • Sessions placed after the Dubailand school bus, from 17:00

IB & IGCSE in DAMAC Hills 2

The part of the course your child has to carry alone

A DAMAC Hills 2 family almost never needs a tutor because a school is teaching badly. The schools this community buses into are inspected annually and most teach the specification competently. The problem is structural: both the Diploma Programme and IGCSE hand a large, graded portion of the course to the student to complete outside lesson time, and nothing in the school day is designed to supervise that part. A Chemistry teacher with twenty-two students has four lessons a week to cover a two-year specification. The exploration, the forty hours of independent practice, the past-paper discipline and the reading that turns a six into a seven happen at a desk in Dubailand, alone, at eight in the evening.

That is where the gap opens, and it opens quietly. Class marks stay respectable because class tasks are scaffolded. Mock marks fall because mock papers are not. Parents see a report that says 'working at expected level' in March and a mock grade two bands lower in December, and conclude something changed. Nothing changed. The assessment simply stopped carrying the student and started testing them.

Measuring that gap is the useful thing a tutor does first. An hour of diagnosis on an unseen paper tells you which of four failure modes you are dealing with: content never secured, content secured but not retrievable under time, command terms misread, or working shown so thinly that method marks are lost on correct answers. Those four problems need four different remedies, and buying generic weekly tutoring for the wrong one wastes a term. A student who loses marks on presentation does not need more content; they need six supervised papers with a marker sitting beside them pointing at the line where a mark went.

DAMAC Hills 2 adds a practical constraint on top. The community sits out on the Al Qudra side of Dubailand, and the schools its children attend are in Dubai Investments Park, Motor City, Arabian Ranches, Dubai Sports City and The Sustainable City. A secondary bus route home is rarely under forty minutes and frequently longer in term time. A 16:00 session that would work in Jumeirah does not work here, and a tutor driving out from Deira makes it worse rather than better. Online delivery removes the whole problem: the lesson starts when the child is through the door and fed, not when a car finishes a journey.

IB Gram is a tutor-matching platform, not a centre. There is no IB Gram building in Dubai, and lessons for UAE families are delivered as one-to-one online tuition over live video with a shared whiteboard and a recording the student keeps. Home visits are a service we offer only in India; we do not send a tutor to any UAE address. What that buys a DAMAC Hills 2 family is choice of specialist rather than choice of whoever lives within a twenty-minute drive of Al Qudra Road, which on a Physics HL or Economics HL request is the difference between a subject teacher and a generalist.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

DAMAC Hills 2 children sit three broad routes, and the tutoring each one needs differs more than the brochures suggest. The notes below say what each programme actually assesses and what a student in this community typically carries home.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Each subject carries an internal assessment worth roughly 20 to 25 per cent of the final grade, written by the student over several months. The external papers are sat in a single session, which means two years of content is examined across a fortnight. Grades run 1 to 7 per subject with a maximum of 45 points including three bonus points from TOK and the Extended Essay.

DAMAC Hills 2 students reach the DP mostly through Greenfield International School in Dubai Investments Park and Jumeirah English Speaking School in Arabian Ranches, with others moving across from British-track schools after IGCSE. That second group starts DP1 having never written an internal assessment and often needs the first term purely on research method and criterion language rather than on subject content.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria each, marked 0 to 8, with teacher judgement converted to a 1 to 7 grade. There is no external paper until the optional eAssessment at the end of MYP 5. The criteria reward inquiry, communication and reflection as much as right answers, which is a genuine shift for a child arriving from a British primary where accuracy was most of the mark.

The MYP question that recurs in this part of Dubailand is whether to continue into the DP or move to IGCSE at 14. Families weigh the bus distance to an IB continuum school against the British schools nearer Motor City and Sports City. Tutoring in MYP 4 and 5 is most useful when it builds the algebraic fluency and the lab-write-up discipline that the DP assumes already exists.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE

Typically eight to ten subjects examined at the end of Year 11, graded 9 to 1 or A* to G depending on the board and subject. Cambridge offers Core and Extended tiers in several subjects, where Core caps at grade C and Extended runs to A*. Papers are short, numerous and heavily pattern-based, which makes past-paper discipline the single highest-return activity in Year 11.

Most DAMAC Hills 2 children in Years 10 and 11 attend British-curriculum schools around Dubai Investments Park, Motor City and Dubai Sports City. The practical risk here is tier: a child entered for Core Mathematics cannot be awarded above a C, and a UAE Ministry of Education equivalency file needs five accredited subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, so a tier decision taken in Year 10 constrains options years later.

PYPAges 3-11 · FS2 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Transdisciplinary units of inquiry with no external examinations, ending in the Year 6 Exhibition. Reporting is descriptive rather than numerical, which is why parents moving in from a graded system often cannot tell whether their child is behind. Reading fluency, number bonds and written stamina are the three things worth checking independently.

Primary provision is the part DAMAC Hills 2 feels most, because the youngest children take the longest bus ride relative to their day. Tutoring at this stage is short and infrequent by design: two twenty-five to thirty-minute sessions a week on reading or number, placed before dinner rather than after it.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the subjects DAMAC Hills 2 families ask for most, with the specific place each one usually goes wrong. A tutor who cannot name that place is guessing.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Paper 1 is sat without a calculator, which exposes any weakness in algebraic manipulation that a graphing display has been hiding. HL adds proof by induction, complex numbers and a far heavier calculus load. Most marks are lost on unjustified steps rather than wrong answers.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Calculator-permitted throughout, with statistics, modelling and financial mathematics carrying the weight. Students who chose it to avoid algebra are caught by the HL statistics content and by the need to interpret output in words rather than just produce it.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms account for most lost marks. The data booklet is permitted but rarely practised with, so students waste minutes hunting values. HL organic requires mechanism arrows drawn precisely enough to earn the mark, which is a drawing skill as much as a chemistry one.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics and fields are usually secure; thermal physics, waves and the HL option paper are not. The recurring failure is treating a derivation as a formula to recall rather than a chain to reconstruct, which collapses as soon as the examiner changes the variable being solved for.

Biology

HL and SL

A content-heavy course where the marks sit in command terms. 'Outline', 'explain' and 'evaluate' demand different structures, and a student who writes everything they know about a topic will score below one who answers the verb asked. HL biochemistry and plant science are the usual weak zones.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy decides Paper 1. Axes mislabelled, a shift drawn without a new equilibrium marked, or a welfare area left unshaded all lose marks that the written analysis cannot recover. HL adds quantitative Paper 3, where the arithmetic is easy but the interpretation is not.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 is an unseen guided analysis under timed conditions, and the Individual Oral is internally assessed against a global issue the student chooses. Most students can analyse; fewer can structure an argument in seventy-five minutes without a plan they have practised.

IGCSE Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended · Pearson 4MA1

Extended tier questions in the last third of each paper combine two topics, usually geometry inside algebra. Students lose marks by abandoning a question after one line instead of extracting the method marks available for a correct start.

IGCSE Physics

Cambridge 0625 · Pearson 4PH1

Electricity and the alternative-to-practical paper cause most of the damage. Circuit questions require reading a diagram carefully before calculating; the practical paper requires knowing how a named apparatus is used, which cannot be revised from a textbook alone.

IGCSE Chemistry

Cambridge 0620 · Pearson 4CH1

Moles calculations, qualitative analysis tests and electrolysis products are the three reliable mark-losers. The qualitative tests are pure recall and are worth drilling to automaticity, which is an efficient use of early sessions.

IGCSE Biology

Cambridge 0610 · Pearson 4BI1

Transport in plants, homeostasis and genetics crosses. The genetic-cross questions are procedural and highly scorable once the layout is fixed; students lose marks by omitting gamete rows or failing to state the ratio asked for.

IGCSE Business Studies

Cambridge 0450 · Pearson 4BS1

Case-study application is the whole paper. A technically correct definition scores one mark; the remaining marks require the answer to refer to the named business in the insert, which students consistently forget under time pressure.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats cover almost every DAMAC Hills 2 request. All three are delivered online over live video; the difference is cadence and purpose, not medium.

Weekly one-to-one, term-long

The default for a student with a measurable gap and time to close it. One or two sessions a week with the same tutor, working a term plan built backwards from the school's own assessment calendar. The tutor sees the student's marked class work between sessions, so a lesson responds to this week's evidence rather than to a generic scheme.

  • 60 or 90 minutes, same tutor each week
  • Session recording retained for the student's revision
  • Written note after each session naming the next task
  • Plan rebuilt after every school assessment point

Internal assessment and Extended Essay supervision

A short, intensive block timed to the school's internal deadlines rather than to the exam. The tutor teaches research method, reads the student's own drafts and gives criterion-referenced feedback on them. The student writes every word that is submitted; the tutor's role is teaching, questioning and feedback, which is what IB academic honesty rules permit and what a school coordinator expects to see.

  • Four to eight sessions clustered around a school deadline
  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own draft
  • Research question narrowed before any writing begins
  • No text supplied for inclusion, ever

Exam-run intensive

Booked eight to ten weeks before a session for students whose content is largely secure but whose paper technique is not. Each session is a timed paper or paper section, marked live, with the student watching where marks were awarded and withheld. This is the format that moves a grade fastest when the diagnosis says technique rather than content.

  • Two to three sessions a week in the final six weeks
  • Timed conditions, marked against the official criteria
  • Error log maintained across sessions to spot repeats
  • Final two sessions spent only on the weakest paper

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in DAMAC Hills 2

01

What a DAMAC Hills 2 parent is actually buying

  • School-carried work is scaffolded; solo work is not, and only solo work is tested cold
  • An IGCSE student who has worked six past series properly is in a different position from one who has not
  • The Diploma hands roughly a fifth to a quarter of each subject grade to independent research
  • Tutoring is worth most where supervision is absent, not where teaching is weak

Searching for IB and IGCSE tutors in DAMAC Hills 2 returns pages that talk about passion and commitment. What a parent in this community needs is narrower: someone who will take over the part of the course the school cannot supervise, and who can be reached at 18:30 on a weekday without anyone driving on Al Qudra Road. That is the whole proposition, and it is worth stating before the marketing starts.

Both qualifications are built on the same assumption, which is that a motivated student will do substantial independent work. The IGCSE assumption is past papers: the papers are formulaic, the mark schemes are public, and a Year 11 student who has worked through six series properly will outperform an equally able student who has worked through none. The Diploma assumption is heavier still, because the internal assessment in each subject is a multi-month research task carried out largely outside lesson time, and Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay sit on top of six subjects.

No school timetable in Dubai supervises that work closely, because no timetable can. A teacher with four lessons a week and a two-year specification to deliver has to choose, and they choose content delivery. The student is left with the practice, the drafting and the revision. For a self-organising sixteen-year-old that is fine. For most, it is the point at which the grade separates from the ability.

The table below sets out which parts of the course the school carries and which parts land on the student, with a realistic estimate of solo hours. It is the clearest way to see where a tutor earns their fee and where they are redundant.

The four places the gap opens in the Diploma

  • Content never secured: reteach plus spaced retrieval, two to three weeks
  • Not retrievable under time: timed sections with an enforced stop, six to eight weeks
  • Command terms misread: sort past questions by verb, two sessions
  • Thin working: line-by-line marking of the student's own script against the mark scheme

A Diploma grade that sits below a student's apparent ability almost always traces to one of four causes, and they are distinguishable within a single marked paper. The first is content never secured. A topic was taught in DP1, understood at the time, and never retrieved since. The student recognises the question and cannot produce the method. The remedy is cheap and boring: a reteach of the topic followed by spaced retrieval over a fortnight.

The second is content secured but not retrievable under time. The student can do every question given twenty minutes and none given eight. This is the most common cause in Dubai cohorts and the most frequently misdiagnosed, because the student honestly believes they do not understand the material. They do. What they lack is automaticity, which only comes from timed practice with a stopwatch running and someone enforcing the stop.

The third is misread command terms. The Diploma uses a published list of command terms with precise meanings, and the mark schemes follow them literally. A student asked to 'outline' who 'explains' wastes four minutes and gains nothing; a student asked to 'evaluate' who 'describes' loses most of the marks on an eight-mark question. This is a vocabulary problem masquerading as a subject problem and can be fixed in two sessions of sorting past questions by verb.

The fourth is thin working. Correct answers lose method marks when the intermediate steps are absent, and in Mathematics Paper 1 that can cost several marks across a paper without a single wrong answer. Diagnosis here needs someone to mark the student's actual script against the actual mark scheme, line by line, which is precisely what a school teacher with twenty-two scripts to return cannot do at that resolution.

03

IGCSE in Years 10 and 11: where independent practice decides the grade

The IGCSE is a pattern-recognition examination, and this is not a criticism of it. Each paper has a stable structure, a published mark scheme and a question bank that recycles the same assessment objectives in different clothing. A student who has worked through several past series under timed conditions, marked them honestly and logged their errors, walks into the real paper having already met every question type. A student who has revised by rereading notes has not.

Board and syllabus code matter more than parents expect, because the same subject is assessed differently by Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel. Cambridge tiers several subjects into Core and Extended, and the Core tier caps the available grade; Pearson generally does not tier the same way and uses different paper structures. Buying a tutor who teaches 'IGCSE Maths' without knowing whether the child sits 0580 Extended or 4MA1 is how a family ends up paying for practice on the wrong paper format.

A second, quieter issue is tier placement. Schools set tiers in Year 10 on the basis of Year 9 attainment, and the decision is reversible only within a window. A child capped at Core Mathematics cannot be awarded above a grade C, which has consequences for A Level and Diploma entry and for the five-subject count a UAE Ministry of Education equivalency file requires. If there is a case for moving tier, it has to be made with evidence early in Year 10, not argued in Year 11.

The table maps the four subjects DAMAC Hills 2 families request most against both boards, with the specific thing that solo practice fixes in each. Confirm your child's code on their school entry sheet before booking anything.

What tutoring costs around Dubailand, and who charges what

Most pages competing for this search publish no price at all, and two of the larger ones quote in US dollars, a currency no Dubai family pays school fees in. The figures below are market rates in AED, taken from providers' own published pages and from Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table, read in October 2026. They are the market, not an IB Gram price list.

The pattern across providers is consistent. Online lessons with a qualified subject specialist cluster between AED 150 and AED 300 an hour. In-home visits carry a travel premium and sit between AED 180 and AED 500, with the upper end reflecting distance as much as expertise. IB and IGCSE specialists command AED 200 to AED 450 and above; one premium provider publishes AED 650. At the budget end, platforms advertise from AED 33 to AED 65 an hour, which generally buys a university student working from a textbook rather than a subject specialist working from a mark scheme.

For a DAMAC Hills 2 family the travel premium is the number worth attending to. The community is far enough out that an in-home tutor is pricing a round trip of well over an hour into the fee, and is drawn from whoever is willing to make that trip. That is a small pool, and it is selected for geography rather than for subject. Online delivery removes the premium and widens the pool to anyone who teaches the specification, which is why an HL Physics or HL Economics request is answerable here at all.

Set the rate against the rest of the bill before deciding what is reasonable. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, so a tutoring budget is the variable part of an otherwise fixed education cost. One session a week for a school year is a different financial object from two sessions a week plus an exam-run intensive, and it is worth modelling both before committing.

Counting backwards from the exam instead of forwards from today

Families plan tutoring from the date they decide to start. Examination boards plan from entry deadlines, which sit months before the papers. The two calendars do not meet, and the result is a family booking in April for a June session whose entry closed weeks earlier. Working backwards from the exam is the single most useful planning habit available, and no competing page in this market does it.

The sourced Pearson example makes the point, because it is the one with firm published dates: the International GCSE November 2026 papers ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and the November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Cambridge, which a Damac Hills 2 family is just as likely to be dealing with, runs only a June and a November series here, and the same long lead applies: a June entry closes in the spring, months before the first paper, with the centre's own cut-off earlier again and the exact day printed on the statement of entry. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct zone timetable, noting that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong version.

Pearson Edexcel runs International GCSE in May or June and again in November. Its November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series and revises them, so the live official PDF is the only version worth planning from.

IB session dates are the exception on this page. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so no IB examination or results date here has been confirmed from the IB itself. UAE schools sit the May session; for the exact window, the school's IB coordinator and ibo.org are the only sources worth relying on, and both should be checked before a revision plan is fixed.

What a tutor may and may not touch on an internal assessment

This is the section the essay mills in this search result hope nobody reads. One provider in the researched set sells finished Internal Assessments outright. That is academic malpractice under IB rules, it is an expulsion risk for the student, and it is the opposite of tutoring. A family paying for coursework support deserves a plain account of where the line sits, because the student is the one who signs the authenticity declaration.

The permitted territory is wide and genuinely valuable. A tutor may teach research method, interrogate a research question until it is narrow enough to answer, explain what each assessment criterion is actually asking for, read a draft the student has written and say which criterion is underserved and why, teach the statistics or the referencing conventions the task needs, and ask the questions that make a student notice a flaw in their own argument. All of that is teaching.

The prohibited territory is narrow and absolute. A tutor does not supply sentences for inclusion, does not restructure a draft by rewriting it, does not provide data the student did not collect, and does not produce any part of a submitted document. The student's work must be the student's own, and the distinction is not a matter of degree: feedback describes what is wrong; authorship fixes it for them.

There is a related constraint worth knowing in Abu Dhabi, reported by Gulf News: ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE private tuition work permit carries a code of conduct that also restricts serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Verify the current wording against ADEK's own policy document before relying on it, but the direction of travel is clear enough that 'your child's own teacher, privately' should never be the proposition.

KHDA, the inspection bands and what a school report really tells you

  • KHDA for Dubai; ADEK for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain; SPEA for Sharjah; Department of Knowledge for Ras Al Khaimah; Ministry of Education for Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah
  • Six inspection bands from Outstanding to Very Weak, published annually
  • Read the phase and subject judgements, not the headline band
  • The Educational Services Permit applies to institutes with premises, not to individual online tutors

Dubai's private schools are overseen by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. KHDA inspects annually and publishes a judgement on a six-band scale running from Outstanding down to Very Weak. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain are regulated by ADEK, Sharjah by the Sharjah Private Education Authority, Ras Al Khaimah by its Department of Knowledge, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah by the federal Ministry of Education.

The scale of the Dubai market explains why the inspection report matters. Government figures for 2024-25 record 387,441 pupils across 227 private schools offering seventeen different curricula, with the UK curriculum at 37 per cent of enrolment, Indian at 26 per cent, American at 14 per cent and the International Baccalaureate at 7 per cent. KHDA has also confirmed seven new private schools for the 2026-27 intake, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places.

What a band does not tell you is how your child is doing. An Outstanding school contains students who are struggling and a Good school contains students achieving sevens. The useful reading of an inspection report is diagnostic rather than evaluative: look at the judgement for the specific phase and subject your child sits, because a school can be strong in primary and merely acceptable in post-16 science, and that distinction is what determines whether a tutor is worth hiring.

Two structural points follow from this for DAMAC Hills 2 families. First, read the report for the school, phase and subject, not the headline band. Second, no tutoring provider holds KHDA approval in any meaningful sense. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific licence issued to training institutes with premises in Dubai, with initial approval, a six-month window to complete the steps and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram has no Dubai premises and holds no such permit, and any provider describing its tutors as carrying KHDA approval is making a claim worth checking.

08

Mandatory UAE subjects the tutoring budget usually forgets

Every Dubai private school teaches Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies regardless of which international curriculum it is licensed for. KHDA's mandatory-subjects guidelines required implementation by the start of the 2025-26 academic year, with April 2026 for schools whose year begins in April. These subjects appear on the report card and consume timetable hours, and families focused on Chemistry and Mathematics routinely discover the Arabic grade late.

The organisational rules are specific. KHDA requires separate classes by group: for Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs, and combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited because the curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs and for Arabic as a first language, Arabic is the primary language for Social Studies for Arab students, and the school's licensed-curriculum language is used for non-Arabs in Islamic Education and in Moral, Social and Cultural studies.

Instructional time is calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit. Schools may vary lesson length provided the total weekly time is met, and KHDA advises that any mandatory-subject lesson should run at least twenty-five minutes. There is also a content constraint that matters for tutoring: for these subjects, the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry of Education is strictly prohibited, so support here means helping a student with the school's own material rather than introducing an alternative course.

Schools must also ensure that all teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic have appropriate KHDA approval to teach those subjects, which is a checkable credential and a reasonable question to ask the school. For a DAMAC Hills 2 family the practical planning point is simple: when you build an evening timetable around two tutored subjects, leave a slot for Arabic rather than discovering in May that it needed one.

09

When no local tutor covers the subject, and what happens then

  • Deep pools: IGCSE Maths, separate sciences, English, Business Studies
  • Thin pools: HL Physics, HL Economics, HL Psychology, HL second languages
  • Online delivery widens the pool beyond driving distance of Dubailand
  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free for two years; ask any tutor whether they hold one

Every tutoring provider has coverage limits and almost none publish them. The honest position for a DAMAC Hills 2 request is that common subjects at common levels are matched quickly, and narrow combinations are not. IGCSE Mathematics, the three separate sciences and English are deep pools. Diploma Higher Level Physics, Higher Level Economics, Higher Level Psychology, Business Management, Mathematics Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, and second languages at Higher Level are thin pools everywhere, not only in Dubai.

Because lessons are delivered online over live video rather than at an address, the pool is not restricted to tutors living within driving distance of Al Qudra Road. That is the practical argument for the format. A DAMAC Hills 2 family requesting Higher Level Chemistry is choosing from specialists who teach that specification, instead of from the small set of people willing to drive out to the far side of Dubailand on a Tuesday evening.

When a specialist genuinely is not available for a requested slot, the useful response is to say so and offer the alternatives rather than fill the slot with a generalist. The alternatives are usually a different time with the right tutor, a short diagnostic block with a related-subject specialist to establish exactly what is needed, or a wait with a stated date. A family that is told the truth can plan; a family given a generalist discovers the mismatch three weeks later, having lost three weeks.

One further point on legality, because it bears on availability. Individuals providing private tuition in the UAE need a MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. The permit is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, school students aged fifteen to eighteen and university students. MoHRE's service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through its app, website or e-services. Those offering private tuition without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no amount should be quoted to you by anyone.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around DAMAC Hills 2

DAMAC Hills 2 sits in the outer Dubailand belt, and its academic life is shared with the communities around it. Tutoring patterns differ measurably between them, mostly because of what school run each one is doing.

DAMAC Hills

The older and more established of the two DAMAC communities, with Jebel Ali School inside it. Families here have a short school run and tend to book tutoring for subject depth rather than for logistics, which means later-evening sessions are less common.

Mudon

A townhouse and villa community on the Al Qudra side with a younger average cohort. Primary-stage reading and number support dominates requests, and parents often ask about session length for children under nine rather than about syllabus codes.

Remraam

Apartment-only and priced lower than its neighbours, Remraam generates a high proportion of IGCSE requests concentrated in Year 11. Budget sensitivity is real here, and the market rate table below matters more to these families than the tutor's university.

Town Square

Dense townhouse stock with a large school-age population and no secondary school inside the community. Sessions tend to start late because the bus from Motor City or Arabian Ranches is long, and sibling scheduling is a common complication.

Arabian Ranches 2 and 3

Served by Jumeirah English Speaking School Arabian Ranches and Ranches Primary School. The IB continuum presence raises the proportion of MYP and PYP enquiries relative to the rest of this belt, and Extended Essay supervision questions arrive earlier in the year.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

GEMS Metropole, Victory Heights Primary and Bradenton Preparatory sit here, so this is where many DAMAC Hills 2 children are actually schooled. Traffic on Hessa Street and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road at pickup is what pushes evening sessions past 17:30.

Dubai Investments Park

Greenfield International School and Durham School Dubai draw heavily from this part of Dubailand. Greenfield running the IB continuum means some DAMAC Hills 2 children sit the Diploma locally rather than relocating schools at 16.

The Sustainable City

Fairgreen International School makes this a short reverse commute for a handful of DAMAC Hills 2 families. The IB continuum there produces MYP-to-DP transition questions that rarely appear from the British-track schools nearby.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in DAMAC Hills 2

Dubai Investments Park and the inner Dubailand schools

The closest secondary provision to DAMAC Hills 2 and the destination of most buses leaving the community before 07:00. The mix matters: an IB continuum school and several British-curriculum schools sit within a few kilometres of each other, so two neighbours' children can be sitting entirely different assessments in the same year group.

  • Greenfield International School
  • Durham School Dubai
  • South View School
  • The Aquila School
  • Jebel Ali School
  • Fairgreen International School

Motor City, Dubai Sports City and Arabian Ranches

The second bus corridor, running north from DAMAC Hills 2 towards Hessa Street. These schools account for a large share of this community's Year 10 and Year 11 cohort, and their IGCSE entries split between Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel depending on the subject and the department.

  • GEMS Metropole School Motor City
  • GEMS Metropole Al Waha
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • Bradenton Preparatory Academy
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School Arabian Ranches
  • Ranches Primary School

Schools are named here purely as local context for parents working out where their child's syllabus comes from. IB Gram has no affiliation with, and claims no relationship to, any school listed.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the syllabus, not just the subject

The first message should name the school, the year group, the board and the code if you have it, and the two or three specific topics where marks are being lost. A request that says 'IGCSE Chemistry 0620 Extended, Year 11, struggling with moles and electrolysis' is matched accurately. One that says 'science help' is not.

  2. 02

One diagnostic session on real work

The first session is spent on an unseen paper or a marked school assessment rather than on teaching. The tutor marks it against the official criteria and reports which of the four failure modes is in play. That single hour usually changes the plan a parent arrived with, and it is the cheapest useful thing available.

  3. 03

Fix the slot around the Dubailand bus

Sessions are agreed in Gulf Standard Time around the actual arrival of the school bus in DAMAC Hills 2, not around a nominal school finish time. Most families here settle on 17:30 or 18:30 on weekdays, with weekend mornings used for longer internal assessment or exam-paper blocks.

  4. 04

Work a plan built backwards from the exam

The tutor builds the term plan from the entry deadline and exam window backwards, interleaved with the school's own assessment dates. Content work front-loads; timed practice takes over in the final eight to ten weeks. The plan is rewritten after each school assessment rather than followed blindly.

  5. 05

Review the evidence, not the feeling

Every six to eight weeks the question is whether marks on comparable tasks have moved. If they have not, the diagnosis was wrong and the plan or the tutor changes. A free trial session is available before any commitment so a family can test the match before spending; the trial length and terms are stated when it is booked.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched by syllabus code

A tutor is assigned against the specification your child's school entered them for, including the Core or Extended tier and the board. Cambridge 0620 and Pearson 4CH1 are not the same paper, and practising the wrong format is a term wasted on something that looks like progress.

Online delivery, stated plainly

Lessons for UAE families run one to one over live video with a shared whiteboard and a recording the student keeps. IB Gram does not run home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; home visits are a service we offer only in India. The format is published here so nobody books expecting a car.

Diagnosis before scheduling

The first session establishes whether the problem is content, speed, command terms or presentation. Those four need different remedies, and selling weekly tutoring for an undiagnosed problem is how families spend a year on the wrong intervention.

Prices in AED with sources

Market rates on this page carry the provider that publishes them and the month they were read. Several of the pages competing for this search publish no price at all, and two quote in US dollars. A parent deciding on a budget deserves numbers in the currency they pay in.

Coursework support that keeps the student safe

Internal assessment and Extended Essay work is teaching, questioning and criterion-referenced feedback on the student's own drafts. Nothing is supplied for submission. The student signs the authenticity declaration, and our role has to be compatible with that signature.

Coverage limits disclosed

When no specialist is free for a requested subject and slot, we say so and give the options rather than placing a generalist. Thin-pool Higher Level subjects are named on this page so a family can plan around availability instead of discovering it later.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in DAMAC Hills 2: your questions answered

Can a DAMAC Hills 2 family book an in-home tutor through IB Gram?+

No. IB Gram does not provide home visits in DAMAC Hills 2 or anywhere else in the UAE; that service exists only in India. Lessons for Dubai families are delivered one to one over live video, with a shared whiteboard and a session recording the student keeps. For a community this far out on the Al Qudra side of Dubailand, the online format is also the better deal: it removes the travel premium an in-home tutor prices into the fee, and it widens the choice from whoever will drive to DAMAC Hills 2 to any specialist who teaches your child's syllabus.

How much do IB and IGCSE tutors cost for a DAMAC Hills 2 family?+

Market rates in Dubai, read in October 2026, run roughly AED 150 to AED 300 an hour for a qualified subject tutor online and AED 200 to AED 450 and above for an IB or IGCSE specialist. In-home visits sit higher, at AED 180 to AED 500, because travel is priced in. Budget platforms advertise from AED 33 to AED 65, which usually buys a university student rather than a specialist. Those figures are the market, taken from providers' own pages and Bestimate's 2026 rate table, not an IB Gram price list. Ask for the trial session before fixing a budget.

Which schools do DAMAC Hills 2 children usually travel to?+

The nearest provision sits in Dubai Investments Park and the inner Dubailand corridor: Greenfield International School, Durham School Dubai, South View School, The Aquila School and Jebel Ali School in neighbouring DAMAC Hills, with Fairgreen International School in The Sustainable City. A second corridor runs north to Motor City and Dubai Sports City for GEMS Metropole, Victory Heights Primary and Bradenton Preparatory, and to Arabian Ranches for Jumeirah English Speaking School and Ranches Primary. These names are local context only; IB Gram has no relationship with any of them.

What time can a session realistically start in DAMAC Hills 2?+

Most families here settle on 17:30 or 18:30 on weekdays. The secondary bus run from Dubai Investments Park, Motor City or Arabian Ranches rarely takes under forty minutes and often longer in term time, so a 16:00 slot that suits an inner-city community does not work in DAMAC Hills 2. Because lessons are online, the session begins when the child is home and fed rather than when a car completes a journey. Weekend mornings are the usual choice for longer internal assessment or full timed-paper blocks.

My child's class marks are fine but mocks are poor. What is going on?+

Almost certainly the difference between scaffolded and unscaffolded assessment. Class tasks come with structure, hints and a known topic; mock papers come with none of those. The most common cause in Dubai cohorts is content that is understood but not retrievable under time pressure, which feels to the student like not understanding the material. It is fixed by timed practice with an enforced stop, not by reteaching. A single marked unseen paper will usually distinguish this from the three other causes: unsecured content, misread command terms, or working shown too thinly to earn method marks.

Can a tutor help with my child's Diploma internal assessment without breaking IB rules?+

Yes, within clear limits. A tutor may teach research method, narrow an over-broad research question, explain what each assessment criterion is asking for, read a draft the student has written and name which criterion is underserved, and teach the statistics or referencing the task requires. A tutor may not supply sentences for inclusion, rewrite a draft, provide data the student did not collect, or produce any part of what is submitted. The student signs an authenticity declaration, and any provider offering a finished assessment is creating an expulsion risk for your child.

Does my child's IGCSE syllabus code actually matter when choosing a tutor?+

It matters more than the subject name. Cambridge 0620 Chemistry and Pearson Edexcel 4CH1 assess the same discipline with different paper structures, different practical arrangements and different question styles. Cambridge also tiers several subjects into Core and Extended, where Core caps the grade at C. A tutor working from the wrong specification will teach competent chemistry and the wrong exam. The code is on the school's entry sheet or available from the examinations officer, and it is the first thing worth establishing before any booking.

Why does the entry deadline matter if the exam is months away?+

Because the entry deadline, not the exam, is the point after which choices close. A Cambridge June entry closes in the spring, roughly four months before the first paper, and the school sets its own internal cut-off ahead of that; the Pearson side of the calendar shows the same gap in print, with the International GCSE November 2026 papers running from late October to 19 November 2026 and the results not reaching students until the following January. Tier changes, subject changes and private-candidate arrangements all have to be settled before the entry closes. Working backwards from the exam window rather than forwards from today is the planning habit that prevents a family discovering a closed door in the spring.

Are there Arabic and Islamic Education requirements my child has to meet in Dubai?+

Yes. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools whatever international curriculum the school is licensed for, and KHDA required implementation by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. KHDA mandates separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and prohibits combined classes. Instructional time is calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit. For these subjects, additional or different content without Ministry of Education permission is prohibited, so support means working with the school's own material.

Is IB Gram approved by KHDA to tutor in Dubai?+

No, and any provider claiming that status is worth questioning. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific licence issued to training institutes with premises in Dubai, involving initial approval, a six-month window to complete the steps and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram has no Dubai premises and holds no such permit. Separately, individuals providing private tuition in the UAE need a MoHRE private tuition work permit under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, which is granted free of charge for two years.

What do the KHDA inspection bands tell me about whether my child needs a tutor?+

Less than parents assume. KHDA inspects Dubai private schools annually and publishes a judgement across six bands from Outstanding to Very Weak. That band describes the school, not your child: Outstanding schools contain students who are struggling and Good schools produce sevens. The useful reading is granular. Look at the judgement for the specific phase and subject your child sits, because a school can be strong in primary and merely acceptable in post-16 sciences, and that gap is where tutoring either earns its fee or does not.

Which Higher Level subjects are hardest to find a tutor for?+

Higher Level Physics, Higher Level Economics, Higher Level Psychology, Business Management, Mathematics Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, and second languages at Higher Level are thin pools everywhere, not only in Dubai. IGCSE Mathematics, the three separate sciences and English are deep pools and are matched quickly. When a specialist is not free for a requested slot, the options are a different time with the right tutor, a short diagnostic block with a related-subject specialist, or a wait with a stated date. We say which applies rather than placing a generalist.

How many sessions a week should a Year 11 student in DAMAC Hills 2 have?+

One session a week per weak subject through most of Year 11, rising to two or three a week in the final six to eight weeks when the work shifts to timed papers. More than that early in the year usually reduces the student's own independent practice, which is the activity that actually moves an IGCSE grade. The honest sequencing is one diagnostic hour, then weekly work on the diagnosed problem, then an exam-run intensive. Reviewing marks on comparable tasks every six to eight weeks tells you whether the cadence is right.

Does the UAE Ministry of Education equivalency process affect IGCSE subject choices?+

It can. For the British track, the Ministry requires five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. That makes a Core-tier cap or a dropped subject a decision with later consequences. One ranking competitor publishes a six-subject requirement, which is wrong. Verify your own case with the Ministry rather than with any tutoring page.

What happens in the very first session, and is there a trial?+

The first session is diagnostic rather than instructional. The student works an unseen paper or brings a marked school assessment, and the tutor marks it against the official criteria and reports which failure mode is in play: unsecured content, poor retrieval under time, misread command terms or thin working. A free trial session is available before any commitment, with its length and conditions stated at the time of booking so there is nothing to discover afterwards. Most families change the plan they arrived with after that hour.

Start with the gap, not with the timetable

The useful first step for a DAMAC Hills 2 family is not booking a weekly slot. It is finding out, from one marked piece of real work, which part of the course your child is carrying alone and failing to carry. Send the school, the year group, the board and the syllabus code if you have it, plus the two or three topics where marks are going. We will match a specialist who teaches that exact specification and run a diagnostic session over live video at a time that works after the Dubailand bus. If no specialist is free for your subject and slot, we will tell you that instead of filling it.
