IGCSE Tutor near me in Jebel Ali

Typing "IGCSE tutor near me in Jebel Ali" returns people who teach maths. What a Year 11 needs is someone who teaches Cambridge 0580 Extended Paper 4, or Edexcel 4MA1 Higher, and knows which topics each one actually asks about. IB Gram matches by syllabus code and teaches live, one-to-one, over video on Gulf Standard Time across Jebel Ali and Dubai South.

IB & IGCSE in Jebel Ali

Start from the code on the exam entry, not the subject on the report card

There is a small piece of paper that makes most IGCSE tutoring decisions straightforward, and almost no parent reads it before hiring. It is the exam entry statement, and it carries a syllabus code against each subject. 0580 is Cambridge Mathematics. 4MA1 is Pearson Edexcel Mathematics A. 0620 is Cambridge Chemistry, 4CH1 the Edexcel equivalent. Those are different qualifications with different papers.

Hire a tutor on the subject name alone and you may get three months of excellent teaching aimed at the wrong specification. It happens most often in the sciences, where topic coverage genuinely diverges between boards, and in mathematics, where the paper structures differ: Cambridge Core candidates sit Papers 1 and 3 while Extended candidates sit Papers 2 and 4, and Edexcel runs two equally weighted papers across Foundation and Higher tiers.

This page is built around that detail. It maps the subjects a Jebel Ali Year 11 actually sits onto their codes, sets out where the marks live inside each paper, and names the topics that consistently cost marks in this catchment. The UK curriculum accounts for 37% of Dubai's private school enrolment, so IGCSE is the single largest qualification in the emirate by student numbers, and the tutoring market around it is wide but shallow.

Geography is the other half of the problem. Jebel Ali sits at the industrial western edge of Dubai, with its residential communities spread out through Al Furjan, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Investments Park, Green Community, Dubai South and Emaar South. A "near me" search from here returns tutors who will drive, priced for the drive, and the further south you live the shorter that list gets. For a subject like Additional Mathematics 0606 or Further Pure 4PM1, the list is often empty.

IB Gram teaches live, one-to-one, over video on Gulf Standard Time. We do not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India, and that is stated here rather than discovered later. The practical effect is that the code on the exam entry decides the tutor, instead of the driving distance deciding it.

One more reason to lead with the code: it tells you how many papers there are, and therefore how the available weeks should be divided. A Cambridge science candidate has theory papers and a practical paper assessed in writing, and the practical paper is the one nobody revises separately even though it is the cheapest set of marks on the table. A Cambridge Extended maths candidate has a short paper and a long paper that reward different habits. Dividing eight weeks of preparation evenly across a subject, without knowing its paper structure, is how a conscientious student ends up with the same mark they started with.

What follows is the code map, the paper anatomy, the topics that recur as weaknesses in this catchment, the AED market bands with their sources, and the questions to ask any tutor before the first lesson. Read it with your child's exam entry statement and most recent marked paper in front of you.

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

An IGCSE student in Jebel Ali is working inside one of two syllabus families, in one of two routes within it, heading for one of two sixth forms. Each choice narrows what a paper can ask.

0580Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE, Core and Extended

Subjects carry four-digit codes: Mathematics 0580, Chemistry 0620, Physics 0625, Biology 0610, English as a First Language 0500, Economics 0455. Most run a Core route and an Extended route, with Core candidates sitting one pair of papers and Extended candidates another. The Core route carries a lower maximum grade, which is the whole point of it.

Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Ask your Jebel Ali centre which zone it sits in; the answer changes which PDF applies to your child.

4MA1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Codes such as Mathematics A 4MA1, Physics 4PH1, Chemistry 4CH1, Biology 4BI1, English Language A 4EA1 and Further Pure Mathematics 4PM1. Tiered subjects run Foundation and Higher papers. Mathematics A sits as two equally weighted papers rather than a short-and-long pair.

Pearson's dates are checkable and recent: the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students the next day, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson revises provisional timetables, so work from the live PDF rather than any restated date.

AFTER16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

A Level or IB Diploma after Year 11

Both routes are available inside this catchment without moving house. A Levels take three or four subjects in depth with published entry grades. The IB Diploma takes six subjects plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service, graded out of 45. The decision is made during Year 11 on predicted grades, before results arrive.

The Winchester School Jebel Ali and Dove Green Private School run the A-Level route, while Greenfield International School, Fairgreen International School and Sunmarke School offer IB Diploma provision. Entry grades matter here because some of them are not reachable from a Core or Foundation entry, which is why the tier decision in Year 10 deserves evidence.

KS3Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Years 7 to 9, the two years that decide Year 10

Nothing in these years appears on a certificate, with optional Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests available in March, May and October. That invisibility is the hazard: algebraic fluency, equation rearrangement and reading stamina formed here determine how Year 10 feels.

Families in Al Furjan and Green Community often begin tutoring in Year 9 after a Checkpoint report, and it is the cheapest intervention point in the school career. Rebuilding algebra at 13 costs a term of weekly sessions. Rebuilding it in Year 11 costs marks on every paper that uses it, which is most of them.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Each subject below carries its codes and the specific place marks go missing in this catchment. These are the patterns our tutors see repeatedly in marked papers from the Jebel Ali and Dubai Investments Park schools.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended; Edexcel 4MA1 Foundation and Higher

Cambridge Core sits Papers 1 and 3, Extended sits Papers 2 and 4; Edexcel 4MA1 runs two equally weighted papers. Marks go on unwritten method lines, rounding applied at an intermediate step, and multi-part questions abandoned after part (a).

Additional Mathematics and Further Pure

Cambridge 0606; Edexcel 4PM1

Taken alongside the main course by students heading for A Level Maths, Further Maths or IB Higher Level. Calculus and trigonometric identities dominate. The local tutor pool for these codes is the thinnest of any subject in this catchment.

Physics

Cambridge 0625; Edexcel 4PH1

Electricity and circuits is the recurring weakness, followed by moments, pressure and the equations that need rearranging before they can be used. Students who recognise a formula but cannot transpose it under time pressure lose the back half of every multi-part question.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620; Edexcel 4CH1

Moles and stoichiometry, then organic chemistry. The practical paper rewards precision about apparatus choice and about why a step controls a variable, which is rarely taught as explicitly as it is examined.

Biology

Cambridge 0610; Edexcel 4BI1

Content-heavy and command-term sensitive. Transport in plants, homeostasis and inheritance generate most questions, and six-mark answers written as unlinked bullet lists cap the mark regardless of how much the student knows.

English as a First Language

Cambridge 0500; Edexcel 4EA1

Reading passages and directed writing. The audience and form specified in the question carry marks, so a strong piece written in the wrong register scores below a competent one in the right register.

English as a Second Language

Cambridge 0510 and 0511

Reading, writing, listening and an assessed speaking component. Very common in Discovery Gardens and Jebel Ali given the mix of home languages, and writing marks rise fastest with structured paragraph planning rather than vocabulary drills.

Economics and Business Studies

Cambridge 0455 and 0450

Economics turns on labelled, correctly shifted diagrams; Business Studies turns on using the case-study data provided. The top-tariff questions ask for evaluation, and candidates listing advantages against disadvantages without reaching a judgement cap themselves.

Computer Science and ICT

Cambridge 0478 and 0417

Pseudocode, data representation, networks and the practical ICT tasks. Confident Python coders still lose theory marks on binary and hexadecimal conversion and on network concepts, because those are examined in prose rather than in code.

Arabic

Cambridge 0508 and 0544; school-set MoE streams

Arabic is required in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, and KHDA mandates separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language. Identify the stream before the first lesson; the streams are not interchangeable.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, chosen by the gap the marked paper exposes rather than by how worried the household is.

Code-matched weekly subject tuition

One tutor, one subject, one specification, one fixed weekly slot. The tutor works from the specific syllabus your child's centre entered them for and from the school's own scheme of work, so the sequence matches the class rather than running alongside it.

  • Syllabus code confirmed before the first lesson
  • 60 or 90 minutes, same tutor and hour each week
  • Written note after each session naming what was covered
  • Slots from 4pm Gulf Standard Time

Topic-to-paper repair blocks

Short runs aimed at one weak topic, worked only through the question types the paper actually uses for it. Electricity in Physics, moles in Chemistry, algebraic manipulation in Mathematics: each has a characteristic question shape, and practising the shape is faster than rereading the chapter.

  • One topic, four to six sessions
  • Question types drawn from the relevant paper only
  • Marked against the official scheme each time
  • Ends when the topic stops losing marks

Practical and alternative-to-practical preparation

Work on the assessed practical paper, which is examined in writing and is where science candidates in this catchment lose the most unexpected marks. Apparatus choice, variable control, table and graph conventions, and precision of description are all learnable in advance.

  • Apparatus and measurement choices justified
  • Variable control written in the paper's own language
  • Results tables and graph conventions drilled
  • Practical procedures remain the school's responsibility

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Jebel Ali

01

The code map: what your child is actually entered for

Every IGCSE subject has a code and the code is the specification. Two children in the same Al Furjan street can both be sitting "IGCSE Chemistry" and be preparing for different topic lists, different paper counts and different question styles. Until the code is confirmed, tutoring is guesswork dressed up as teaching.

The codes also decide how many papers there are and how they are weighted. Cambridge Mathematics 0580 splits by route: Core candidates sit Papers 1 and 3, Extended candidates sit Papers 2 and 4. Pearson Mathematics A 4MA1 sits two papers of equal weight across Foundation and Higher tiers. In the sciences, Cambridge 0620, 0625 and 0610 each include an assessed practical paper examined in writing, which is a distinct skill from the theory papers and is rarely revised separately.

Where to find the code: the exam entry statement the school issues, the subject pages in the school's curriculum section, and the top of any past paper your child has been given. If all three are unavailable, the subject teacher will tell you in one email. It is a thirty-second question that prevents a term of misdirected work.

Our first message to a Jebel Ali family always asks for the code rather than the subject. When a parent does not have it, we ask for a photograph of a marked paper instead, because the code is printed on the front of it.

One practical warning about codes and timetables together. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states plainly that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong version. So the code tells you what will be asked, and the zone tells you when. Both come from the centre rather than from a tutoring page, and both are worth confirming in writing.

Where the marks sit inside a paper, and why revision misses them

Students revise content because content is what a textbook is organised around. Papers are not organised around content; they are organised around question types. A Physics paper will ask about electricity by giving a circuit and asking for a calculation, then a rearrangement, then an explanation of what happens when one component changes. Rereading the electricity chapter prepares a student for none of those three moves.

This is why a student can revise conscientiously for a fortnight and score the same mark. The content was already mostly there. What was missing was fluency in the question shapes, and the only way to build that is to attempt the shapes and have someone mark them against the official scheme.

The marking is the part students cannot do for themselves. Self-marking systematically over-rewards, because the student knows what they meant to write and reads their own shorthand generously. An examiner-literate reader marks what is on the page: no unit, no mark; no method line, no method mark; "it gets bigger" where "explain" was asked, part marks at best. Seeing that applied three times changes the habit.

In this catchment the most common recoverable blocks are the same every year: method lines in maths, rearrangement in physics, moles set-up in chemistry, command-term depth in biology, and diagram labelling in economics. None of them are content problems and all of them respond to drilling inside eight weeks.

The practical consequence for a Jebel Ali family is that the first session should be spent marking rather than teaching. An hour of external marking against the official scheme produces a ranked list of habits, and that list is what the following six weeks attack. Teaching before the marking is teaching in the dark.

TOPIC TO QUESTION SHAPE - WHAT THE PAPER ACTUALLY ASKS

03

The science practical paper, which almost nobody revises for separately

  • Apparatus choices must be justified, not just named
  • Variable control is marked in operational terms, with a measurement
  • Units belong in the table headings, not the cells
  • Graph scales must use most of the grid and the line must respect the data
  • A procedure must be followable by a stranger without inference

Cambridge and Pearson both assess practical skills in writing, and that paper is where science candidates in this catchment shed the most marks per hour of effort available. Students treat it as the easy paper because there is no content to learn. The mark scheme treats it as a test of precision, and precision is a trained habit.

What it actually asks: choose apparatus and justify the choice; identify the independent, dependent and controlled variables in the scenario given; state how a variable is controlled in operational terms rather than in principle; tabulate results with correct headings and units; plot a graph with sensible scales and a line that respects the data; and describe a procedure another person could follow without guessing.

Each of those has a conventional form the examiner expects. "Keep the temperature the same" earns less than "keep the water bath at 30 degrees Celsius, measured with a thermometer, for every run". A results table with units in the cells instead of the headings loses marks that nothing in the student's understanding justifies losing. These are rules, and rules can be taught in four sessions.

To be explicit about the division of labour: the hands-on practical work happens in the school laboratory under the teacher's supervision, as the specification requires. A tutor prepares the written skills the paper examines and reviews the student's own write-ups. We do not distribute board papers or mark schemes, which are copyright material; we link the official sources and work from the school's licensed copies.

04

The grade scale, the tier ceiling, and what a boundary really means

Most IGCSE subjects now report on a 9 to 1 scale, with some still using A* to G depending on the subject and the centre's choice. Parents who grew up with letters often misread the numbers in both directions: a 7 sounds worse than an A and is broadly comparable, while a 4 sounds like a pass and sits at the lower boundary of what many sixth forms will accept for a subject they intend to continue.

More important than the scale is the tier ceiling. A Cambridge Core entry or a Pearson Foundation entry caps the maximum attainable grade. That is the function of the route, and it is the right choice for a student who cannot access the higher paper at all. It becomes a problem when it is chosen as a confidence measure in Year 10 and discovered as a constraint in Year 11, after the sixth-form entry requirement has been read.

Grade boundaries themselves move between series, because they are set after the papers are marked to keep standards comparable. That has two consequences for tutoring. First, a raw mark from a past paper cannot be converted confidently into a grade, so anyone quoting you a precise conversion is guessing. Second, the marginal marks matter more than they feel: the gap between two grades is often a handful of marks spread across habits rather than a chunk of missing content.

We do not publish or distribute grade-boundary tables, since they are the boards' copyright material. What we do is tell a family plainly whether the marks lost on the paper in front of us are habit marks or content marks, because those have different prognoses and different costs.

What IGCSE tutoring costs around Jebel Ali, cheapest first

Read the market from the bottom and the structure becomes clear. The cheapest published online tuition in Dubai starts at about AED 33-52 an hour at Tutopiya and AED 45-65 at EdFlik, as advertised in October 2026. That band buys supervision: someone capable, usually early-career, who will keep a Year 9 working through a worksheet and answer questions as they arise. For a confident student who simply does not sit down, it can be enough.

The next band up, AED 150-300 an hour online, is where a trained subject teacher appears. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. This is the band in which someone knows that 0580 Paper 4 is a different animal from 0580 Paper 2, and plans accordingly. For most Year 10 and 11 work this is the right place to be.

Above that, specialists are published at AED 200-450 and beyond, with TutorChase quoting around AED 270 and one premium provider, BartyED, at AED 650. In-home one-to-one sits at AED 180-350 per Dubai rate guidance, with independent home tutors advertising up to AED 500, and the travel is inside those figures. Monthly packages seen in the market: around AED 799 for eight online sessions, and AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits.

None of these are IB Gram prices and this page carries no rate card, because the fee depends on subject and level and is quoted after the free trial lesson. The bands are published so that a quote can be judged. A family in Emaar South offered AED 450 an hour for Cambridge 0580 is paying specialist money in the subject with the deepest supply in the market, and is entitled to ask what the premium covers.

Online one-to-one from Jebel Ali, with the drawbacks stated

For code-matched IGCSE work the online format is a good fit, because most of the work is a marked paper on a shared screen. The tutor and the student annotate the same question at the same moment, which is better than one paper copy passed across a table. Sessions can start at 4pm rather than 5.30pm, and they do not cancel when the port roads or Sheikh Zayed Road seize up.

The selection effect is the larger benefit and it is strongest for the narrow codes. For Cambridge 0580 the local pool is reasonable. For 0606 Additional Mathematics, 4PM1 Further Pure, Cambridge 0511 speaking components or a first-language Arabic stream, a radius search from Dubai South can return nothing at all. Online, those codes are coverable.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE. In-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. We state it at the top of the page because two providers ranking for UAE searches route parents to an Indian phone number without disclosing that delivery is remote, and the disclosure is the minimum a family is owed before booking.

The real drawbacks: a student who will not start work without an adult present does better with one in the room; children under about ten lose focus faster on screen; a shared study space in a Discovery Gardens apartment undermines the hour; and a weak connection shortens the lesson regardless of the invoice. If that is your household, hire locally and ask two questions first - the MoHRE permit, and whether they have taught that exact syllabus code.

07

Permits, honesty and the claims to check before you pay anyone

  • MoHRE private tuition work permit, free of charge for two years
  • Applied for via the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system
  • Tutoring without it carries fines and penalties; no schedule is published
  • Never engage your child's own class teacher for paid private tuition
  • Ask for a permit number from anyone claiming regulator approval

Private tutoring in the UAE requires a permit. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and the UAE government states that it is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18.

MoHRE's own service page is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, publishes no fee, lists a two-working-day completion time and is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. The government states that individuals offering private tutoring without a permit will be subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so any page quoting an amount is quoting something unverified.

One thing never to arrange: paid private tuition from your own child's class teacher. The permit carries a code of conduct and ADEK's professional-ethics rules for Abu Dhabi private and charter school staff are reported as barring paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school. The principle is the same in Dubai even where the regulator differs.

Finally, the claims to discount. IB Gram is not KHDA approved; a KHDA Educational Services Permit is issued to training institutes with physical premises, we hold none and operate no UAE office. We claim no ADEK, MoE, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson accreditation or partnership, publish no self-asserted star rating, and quote no statistic without its source. Ask any tutoring service for the same.

08

How to start, and what we do when we cannot help

Send the syllabus code, the subject, the year group and a photograph of the most recent marked paper. If you do not have the code, the marked paper carries it on the front cover. That one photograph is worth more than a long conversation about the term, because it shows where the marks actually went rather than where the student felt uncertain.

We match a specialist to that code. Mathematics and the separate sciences on either board usually match within a day. Additional Mathematics 0606, Further Pure 4PM1, first-language Arabic streams and the speaking components can take two or three days, and we tell you which case you are in before you start waiting rather than afterwards.

The trial lesson is free and taught by the matched specialist, not by a salesperson. It is built on the paper you sent: the tutor works through the lost marks with your child writing rather than watching, and finishes with a short written note of what the paper showed and what the first month should target. There is no card required to book it and nothing to commit to beforehand.

When no suitable specialist has a slot at the hour you need, we say so. The options we offer are real ones: a different weekday with the right tutor, a short block until a regular slot frees up, or a recommendation to hire locally with the permit and code questions in hand. No competitor in this market publishes what happens when they cannot help, which is precisely why it is written here.

Where we tutor

What a Jebel Ali "near me" search covers

These communities share the Jebel Ali school catchment. They differ in housing type and school run; they share a thin local market for the less common syllabus codes.

Jebel Ali Village

Older low-rise housing next to the port and free zone. Internal journeys are quick, but port-road congestion deters tutors taking evening bookings from elsewhere in the city.

Al Furjan

Townhouses and villas with metro access, and the densest source of Year 10 and 11 maths and science requests in this cluster.

Discovery Gardens

High-density apartments with very mixed home languages. English as a Second Language and mathematics dominate requests, and shared quiet space is a scheduling constraint.

Green Community

Low-rise villas and apartments inside Dubai Investments Park, with the shortest school run in the cluster for most families.

Dubai Investments Park

Holds much of the catchment's school capacity across UK, Indian, American, SABIS and IB routes, so neighbours often sit entirely different qualifications.

Dubai South

Newest and most spread out, around the Expo site and Al Maktoum airport. In-home tutors commonly decline or surcharge bookings at this distance.

Emaar South

Golf-course villas deep inside Dubai South. A weekday in-home start before 6pm is not realistic from most of the city, whatever the rate.

Dubai Production City

Mixed residential and business district on the eastern edge, feeding both the Jebel Ali and Motor City school sets depending on the year group.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Find the syllabus code

It is on the exam entry statement, the school's curriculum pages and the front of any past paper your child has been set. Cambridge 0580 and Edexcel 4MA1 need different preparation, so this is the first question rather than an afterthought.

  2. 02

    Send one marked paper

A photograph is enough. It carries the code, the route or tier, and the evidence of where marks were lost, which is almost never where the student thinks it was. This is what makes the first lesson diagnostic.

  3. 03

    Code-matched specialist assigned

A tutor who teaches that specification, not the nearest available person. Core subjects match within a day; 0606, 4PM1, Arabic streams and speaking components can take two or three, and we say which applies.

  4. 04

    Free diagnostic trial lesson

A real one-to-one online lesson on the paper you sent, ending in a written note of what it showed and what the first month should target. No card details, no package commitment and the note is yours either way.

  5. 05

Weekly slot, reviewed at the mocks

The same tutor at the same Gulf Standard Time hour each week, with the plan reviewed against mock results and the live series. Slots shift for Ramadan and examination weeks as a calendar change, since nobody is travelling.

The code leads, not the subject name

We confirm whether your child sits 0620 or 4CH1 before assigning anyone, because the specifications diverge topic by topic and a term aimed at the wrong paper cannot be recovered in Year 11.

Narrow codes become coverable

Additional Mathematics 0606, Further Pure 4PM1 and first-language Arabic streams have almost no local supply in the Jebel Ali and Dubai South belt. Online delivery is the difference between a specialist and nobody.

Papers marked by someone who is not the student

Self-marking over-rewards because the student knows what they meant. External marking against the official scheme turns vague underperformance into a ranked list of habits, which is what actually changes in eight weeks.

AED bands published with sources and a date

Every figure here is attributed to the provider or guide that published it in October 2026. Three pages ranking for this search publish no price, and the two that do quote dollars to families paying in dirhams.

Copyright and honesty lines held

We link official past papers and mark schemes rather than distributing them, publish no grade-boundary tables, and never write or complete assessed work. Those are the lines two competitors in this market cross.

Claims limited to what we can evidence

No KHDA, ADEK, MoE, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson approval, no UAE premises, no home visits in the UAE, no self-asserted ratings and no statistic without its source and date.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jebel Ali: your questions answered

Where is the syllabus code printed for a Jebel Ali IGCSE candidate?+

Three places carry it. The exam entry statement the school issues lists a code against each subject. The school's curriculum pages usually state the board and often the code. And the front cover of any past paper your child has been set prints it. Codes beginning 0 are Cambridge - 0580 Mathematics, 0620 Chemistry, 0625 Physics, 0610 Biology - while codes like 4MA1, 4CH1 and 4PH1 are Pearson Edexcel. If none of those are to hand, one email to the subject teacher settles it in a sentence.

Does it really matter whether we hire a 0580 tutor or a 4MA1 tutor?+

It matters enough to ask before the first lesson. The paper structures differ: Cambridge 0580 Core candidates sit Papers 1 and 3 and Extended candidates sit Papers 2 and 4, while Pearson 4MA1 runs two equally weighted papers across Foundation and Higher tiers. Question styles and the weighting of topics differ with them. A capable tutor can teach either, but one preparing a student on the wrong specification spends weeks on question shapes the paper will not use. The code takes thirty seconds to confirm and saves a term.

Which IGCSE topics cause most trouble in the Jebel Ali schools?+

The pattern is consistent across the marked papers we see from this catchment. In Physics, electricity and circuits, then anything requiring a formula to be rearranged before use. In Chemistry, moles and stoichiometry, then organic. In Mathematics, algebraic manipulation buried inside geometry and statistics questions, plus rounding applied too early. In Biology, command-term depth rather than content: six-mark answers written as unlinked lists. None of these are knowledge gaps in the ordinary sense, and all of them respond to drilling the specific question shape inside eight weeks.

Why does my child lose marks on the science practical paper?+

Because it is marked on precision rather than knowledge, and precision has conventions nobody teaches explicitly. "Keep the temperature the same" scores less than "hold the water bath at 30 degrees Celsius, checked with a thermometer, for every run". Units belong in table headings, not in the cells. Graph scales must use most of the grid, and the line must respect the data rather than the expectation. A described procedure has to be followable by a stranger. These are rules, and four focused sessions typically fix them.

Is a grade 4 at IGCSE good enough for sixth form here?+

It depends entirely on the subject and the destination. A 4 sits at the lower edge of what many sixth forms accept, and for a subject the student intends to continue - maths into A Level or IB Higher Level, a science into either - the stated entry grade is often higher. Within this catchment both A Level and IB Diploma routes are available, and each school publishes its own entry requirements. Read the requirement for the subjects your child wants to continue before deciding whether a grade needs work.

Can a tutor tell us what grade my child's past-paper mark converts to?+

Not reliably, and anyone offering a precise conversion is guessing. Grade boundaries are set after each series is marked, to keep standards comparable between sittings, so the same raw mark can fall either side of a boundary in different years. We also do not publish or distribute boundary tables, which are the boards' copyright material. What a tutor can tell you honestly is whether the marks lost on the paper in front of them are habit marks or content marks, because those two have very different prognoses.

How quickly can you find an Additional Mathematics 0606 tutor for Dubai South?+

Usually two to three days rather than one, because 0606 and Pearson's Further Pure 4PM1 have the narrowest specialist pool of any code in this catchment. A radius search from Dubai South for either often returns nothing usable, which is exactly the case where online delivery changes the outcome rather than merely the price. We tell you the expected wait at the enquiry rather than after you have waited, and if nobody suitable has a slot at your hour we say so and offer alternatives.

Do you cover both Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel science papers?+

Yes, and we treat them as separate jobs rather than one. Cambridge Physics 0625, Chemistry 0620 and Biology 0610 each include an assessed practical paper examined in writing; the Pearson equivalents 4PH1, 4CH1 and 4BI1 handle practical skills differently and their topic coverage diverges from Cambridge in places. A tutor is assigned to the code your child is entered for. If your school enters different subjects with different boards, which happens, each subject gets a tutor matched to its own specification.

Can tutoring happen online if we live in Emaar South with a long school run?+

That is the case where the format helps most. Because no tutor is travelling, a session can start as soon as your child is home rather than after someone has crossed the city, and families here commonly take a 4.30pm or 5pm slot that no in-home tutor would offer at any rate. Lessons also do not cancel for traffic or road closures. The practical requirements are a reliable connection and a quiet space for the hour, which in a villa is usually easier than in a shared apartment.

My child is in Year 10. Is it too early to start IGCSE tutoring?+

Year 10 is the cheapest useful point, and the reason is the tier decision. Core and Foundation entries cap the attainable grade, and they are frequently chosen in Year 10 as a confidence measure then discovered in Year 11 as a constraint on sixth-form entry. Sitting a timed paper at each route and having it marked externally gives the family evidence rather than impressions. Beyond that, habits formed in Year 10 - writing method lines, rounding at the end - are much cheaper to build than to repair.

Do you supply past papers, mark schemes or revision notes?+

We do not host or distribute board material. Cambridge and Pearson papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables and specifications are copyright, and circulating unreleased material is a malpractice exposure for the student. We reference and link the official sources on cambridgeinternational.org and qualifications.pearson.com, and we work from the copies your child's school is licensed to provide. A service offering you a complete paper library, or material not yet released, is worth declining on those grounds alone.

What should I ask a Jebel Ali tutor before the first paid lesson?+

Three things. Which syllabus code have they taught, and can they name the papers in it? Do they hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, which the UAE government states is granted free of charge for two years? And how will they mark your child's work - against the official scheme, or by impression? A tutor who answers the first two without hesitation and has a clear answer to the third is usually worth a trial.

Will our weekly lesson time survive Ramadan and the mock period?+

It will move, and the move is planned rather than improvised. School hours shorten during Ramadan and households reorganise their evening around iftar, so a weekday 5pm slot usually shifts to early afternoon or post-iftar for the month. Mock and examination weeks need the opposite: sessions clustered ahead of papers and paused after them. Because nobody is driving to your address, changing a slot is a calendar adjustment rather than a renegotiation of a commute, and it shifts back just as easily afterwards.

How many subjects should we tutor at once in Year 11?+

One to start with, two at most. A Year 11 is already carrying eight or nine subjects and a mock cycle, and adding three tutors adds three sets of homework to a timetable that has no space in it. The first month is diagnostic in any case, and a marked paper in one subject usually reveals habits - method lines, command-term depth, rounding - that transfer to the others once corrected. Families who begin with three subjects most often reduce to one or two by half term.

Send the code and the marked paper

If you have been searching for an IGCSE tutor near me in Jebel Ali, the quickest way past the generic results is to lead with the syllabus code. Send the code, the year group and a photograph of your child's most recent marked paper, and a specialist on that specification will read it, tell you whether the lost marks are habits or content, and teach a free one-to-one trial lesson online at a Gulf Standard Time hour that works from Jebel Ali, Al Furjan, Green Community or Dubai South. The written diagnosis is yours whether or not you continue, and there is no card required to book.
