IB Physics Tutor in Jebel Ali

An IB physics tutor in Jebel Ali earns their fee by knowing which term it is. The Diploma physics course has three separate pressure points - the scientific investigation, the mock window, and the final run of timed papers - and each needs different work. IB Gram matches a physics specialist and teaches live, one-to-one, over video on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Term plan built around the investigation deadline and the mock window
  • Uncertainty, graph and data-analysis work drilled explicitly
  • Live one-to-one online; practicals stay in the school laboratory

IB & IGCSE in Jebel Ali

Diploma physics is a two-year calendar, not a list of topics

Physics tutoring usually begins in a panic about a topic. Fields went badly, or the student cannot do anything with uncertainties, and a tutor is booked to teach that thing. That is a reasonable response and it is also why a great deal of physics tutoring produces no change in the grade: the work is organised around the symptom instead of around the term the student is actually in.

The Diploma physics course has a shape with three hard edges. The scientific investigation has to be designed, run and written to a school-set deadline. The mock window sits roughly a term before the papers and exists to produce diagnostic data. The final eight weeks are for timed papers and nothing else, because new content introduced there displaces the practice that converts knowledge into marks. A session spent teaching fields in week four of that final run is a session spent wrongly.

This page is built on that calendar. It counts backwards from the May session, which is the one almost every UAE school enters its candidates for, and names what should exist at each point. Around that it sets out the content themes of the current physics guide, the data-and-uncertainty skills that quietly decide a grade, and the AED market bands with their sources.

Jebel Ali's geography is why the delivery model gets a section of its own. The district sits at the industrial western edge of Dubai, around the port and the free zone, with its residential communities spread through Al Furjan, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Investments Park, Green Community, Dubai South and Emaar South. A physics specialist who agrees to drive to any of those arrives at the end of the useful part of the evening, and the number who will agree at all shrinks the further south the address sits.

IB Gram teaches live, one-to-one, over video on Gulf Standard Time. We do not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. For physics the format fits the work: most of what a tutor does is read a marked script or a draft investigation on a shared screen, interrogate a graph, and check whether an uncertainty was propagated or guessed. The hands-on laboratory work stays with the school, as the IB requires.

One note on dates before the tables. Cambridge and Pearson publish their timetables and this page cites them where relevant. IB session and results dates cannot be confirmed from the IB by automated means, so this page names the May session and publishes no specific IB examination or results date. Your school's Diploma coordinator holds both the external dates and the internal deadlines, and the internal ones usually drive the term plan.

At a glance

  • Three pressure points: the investigation deadline, the mock window, the final eight weeks
  • Nothing new should be taught in the last eight weeks before the papers
  • Uncertainty treatment and graph work decide marks that content knowledge cannot recover
  • Practical procedures remain the school's responsibility under IB rules
  • No IB Gram home visits in the UAE; in-home tutoring runs only in India
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Physics requests from this catchment come from three stages, and the calendar pressure on each is completely different. Only one of them ends in an external paper.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme Physics

Available at Higher and Standard Level. The current guide organises content into themes running from space, time and motion through the particulate nature of matter, wave behaviour and fields to nuclear and quantum physics, with Higher Level extensions inside each. Assessment combines externally marked papers with an internally assessed scientific investigation moderated by the IB.

Most Jebel Ali physics candidates arrive from an IGCSE background, where physics rewarded recall and clean substitution. The Diploma rewards causal explanation, uncertainty handling and sustained reasoning across linked question parts, so a strong IGCSE grade predicts the content will be manageable and nothing about the first Diploma report.

COREAges 16-19 · Across both Diploma years

The scientific investigation and the Diploma core

The investigation is the internally assessed component, marked against criteria covering research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation. It carries a substantial share of the subject grade; confirm the exact weighting in your school's current subject guide. Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service compete for the same weeks.

The investigation deadline in this catchment is set by the school and lands in the same term as the Extended Essay deadline and the mocks. Students who chose a research question before the long summer break have time to evaluate; students who did not lose marks on the evaluation criterion because there is nothing left to think with.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

MYP Sciences

Assessed against four criteria lettered A to D, each worth up to eight marks, covering knowledge and understanding, inquiring and designing, processing and evaluating, and reflecting on the impacts of science. There is no external paper for most students, so the record is a set of criterion judgements.

MYP 5 students in Al Furjan and Green Community heading for Diploma physics are usually well prepared for the inquiry side and under-prepared for the algebra. Formula rearrangement under time pressure is the skill the Diploma assumes from the first week, and the MYP never required it at speed.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the parts of Diploma physics that generate requests from this catchment, each with the specific place marks go missing. Physics is diagnosable: a marked script usually shows the failure within two questions.

Space, time and motion

HL and SL

Kinematics, forces, momentum and energy, with Higher Level extensions into rotational and relativistic work. Marks go on free-body diagrams never drawn, so the forces are summed from memory of the situation rather than from the diagram.

The particulate nature of matter

HL and SL

Thermal physics, gas laws and the kinetic model. The recurring loss is unit mismatch: temperatures in Celsius where kelvin was needed, or a volume in litres entering an equation expecting cubic metres.

Wave behaviour

HL and SL

Oscillations, wave phenomena, superposition and standing waves, with Higher Level extensions. Diagram-based questions reward precision about phase and path difference, and vague descriptions of interference earn almost nothing.

Fields

HL and SL

Gravitational, electric and magnetic fields and the circuits that follow. The commonest single weakness in this catchment, because it requires holding an abstract model and a sign convention at the same time under time pressure.

Nuclear and quantum physics

HL and SL

Radioactivity, nuclear energy and quantum behaviour, with Higher Level extensions. Content-heavy and often taught late, which makes it the topic most likely to be unfinished when the mock window arrives.

The scientific investigation

HL and SL

Internally assessed and marked against criteria covering design, analysis, conclusion and evaluation. Most drafts fail on a research question the collected data cannot actually answer, and on conclusions that restate the trend without the physics.

Uncertainty and error propagation

HL and SL

Absolute and percentage uncertainty, propagation through calculations, and uncertainty bars on a graph. Guessed rather than propagated uncertainties cost marks on both the papers and the investigation, and almost nobody drills this.

Graph analysis and linearisation

HL and SL

Choosing what to plot so a relationship becomes linear, then extracting a gradient with units and interpreting it physically. A gradient quoted without units is a thrown-away mark, and it recurs on every data-based paper.

Command-term discipline

HL and SL

"State", "describe", "explain", "discuss" and "evaluate" set four different depths. A correct formula where "explain" was asked earns part marks at best, because the question wanted a causal chain in words.

Algebraic rearrangement under time

HL and SL

The skill that decides whether the back half of a multi-part question is reachable. Students who recognise an equation but cannot transpose it quickly lose marks that have nothing to do with their physics.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, each tied to a phase of the physics calendar rather than to intensity. Choosing the wrong one for the phase is the usual way a term of physics tutoring produces nothing.

Term-long content and explanation work

The right format through the first Diploma year and the first half of the second. Weekly sessions following the school's scheme, with the tutor enforcing causal explanation in words rather than accepting a correct formula as an answer. Slow, cumulative, and what makes the final run possible.

  • Follows the school's sequence rather than a parallel syllabus
  • Explanations written as causal chains, every time
  • Free-body and field diagrams drawn before any calculation
  • 60 or 90 minutes weekly at a fixed Gulf Standard Time slot

Investigation coaching, criterion by criterion

A short block around the school's internal deadline. The tutor reads the student's own draft against the published criteria and names what each one rewards. The student designs, runs and writes everything; the tutor explains, questions and marks.

  • Research question narrowed until the data can answer it
  • Uncertainty propagation checked rather than assumed
  • Conclusion tested against the evidence actually collected
  • No drafting, rewriting or completion by the tutor

The final run: timed papers and data questions

Intensive work in the last eight weeks with no new content. Full papers under real timing, marked against the official scheme, followed by sessions that attack the two or three habits the marking exposed. Data-based questions are drilled separately because they fail for their own reasons.

  • Full papers under exam timing, including the data-based sections
  • Marked externally, never self-marked
  • A ranked habit list after each paper
  • Official past-paper sources linked rather than distributed

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Jebel Ali

01

The physics year counted backwards from the session

Begin at the papers and walk back. The final eight weeks are for timed practice: papers sat under real conditions, marked by someone who is not the student, with each session attacking what the marking found. Before that sits the mock window, a term out, whose purpose is to produce data rather than a verdict. Before that, the scientific investigation has to be finished to a school deadline. Before that, it has to be designed, which means the first Diploma year should end with a workable research question.

Set out that way, the usual pattern of enquiries looks mistimed. Most physics requests from this catchment arrive after the mocks, when the content window has closed. A student who has not met nuclear and quantum physics by then cannot both cover it properly and do the timed practice that converts it into marks, and one of the two has to give. The honest conversation is about which, and it should happen in the first session rather than in April.

The second thing the backwards count exposes is the collision. School deadlines for the physics investigation, the Extended Essay and the mock papers frequently land within the same six weeks. Three substantial pieces of independent work and one calendar. Students who designed the investigation early survive it; students who did not lose marks on evaluation, because evaluation is the part that needs unhurried thought.

A note on precision: we name the May session as the one UAE schools sit and publish no specific IB examination or results date here, because IB dates are not confirmable from the IB by automated means. The dates that matter more to your term plan are internal anyway, and your school's Diploma coordinator holds them.

Uncertainty and graph work: the marks nobody revises for

Ask a Diploma physics student what they are weak at and they will name a theme. Ask their marked script and it will usually name uncertainty treatment and graph handling instead. These are cross-cutting skills that appear on every data-based question and inside the investigation, and they are rarely taught as a separate discipline because they do not belong to any one topic.

The specific failures recur. An uncertainty quoted as a round number because it looked reasonable, rather than derived from the instrument's resolution. A percentage uncertainty calculated once and then not propagated through the subsequent multiplication. Uncertainty bars drawn as a decorative constant width across a plot. A gradient quoted to four significant figures from a hand-drawn line of best fit whose own uncertainty is larger than the final digit.

Graph choice is the other half. The useful skill is deciding what to plot so that a non-linear relationship becomes a straight line, then recognising what the gradient and the intercept physically represent. Students who plot the raw variables and then describe a curve have thrown away the analytical mark that linearisation would have earned. This is learnable in three or four sessions and it pays on the papers and the investigation simultaneously.

There is a third, quieter skill: knowing when the data does not support the claim. A conclusion that asserts proportionality from five points with overlapping uncertainty bars is a physics error, not a writing error, and the evaluation criterion in the investigation is built precisely to catch it. Teaching a student to look for that is more valuable than another pass through fields.

03

The scientific investigation, and the line a tutor must not cross

  • Narrowing the question and teaching the physics: legitimate
  • Checking propagation and testing the conclusion against the data: legitimate
  • Writing, rewriting or supplying data: never
  • Laboratory work stays at school under the teacher's supervision
  • Every sentence submitted must have been typed by the student

The investigation is internally assessed and externally moderated, and it is the component where a tutor can do the most legitimate good. It is also where the academic-honesty boundary gets tested, because the work is a document and documents can be written by other people.

The legitimate space is wide. A tutor can help narrow a research question until the available apparatus can actually answer it, teach the physics the investigation needs, explain what each criterion rewards and what it caps, check whether uncertainties were propagated or guessed, question whether the conclusion follows from the data, and mark a draft against the descriptors. That covers nearly everything a student genuinely needs.

What a tutor cannot do is write, rewrite or complete any part of it, supply the research question wholesale, produce or adjust the data, or edit the document to a finished state. The test after every session is whether every sentence in the draft was typed by your child. There are services in this market selling completed Internal Assessments, one advertising them at AED 3,750; submitting bought work is a malpractice matter that can cost the whole Diploma, and no price makes that reasonable.

On the practical side, the division of labour is set by the IB rather than by us. The hands-on laboratory work happens at school, under the teacher's supervision and with the school's apparatus and risk assessment. A tutor works on the design before it, the analysis after it, and the writing throughout. We also do not distribute IB papers, mark schemes, boundary tables or subject guides, which are copyright material; we reference and link the official sources.

04

Why physics explanations lose marks when the physics is right

A large share of the marks a Jebel Ali physics student loses go on questions they could answer verbally. The reason is that "explain" in an IB physics paper means a chain: this changes, which causes that, which results in the stated outcome. A correct formula is not a chain. A restatement of the question in physics vocabulary is not a chain. Both are extremely common and both earn part marks at best.

The pattern comes from IGCSE, where a correct substitution and a correct answer usually carried the mark. The Diploma asks for reasoning in prose and marks it against the reasoning. A student whose default register is "state the formula and compute" scores well on calculation questions and consistently loses the explanation marks, paper after paper, without identifying the pattern - because each individual loss looks like bad luck.

The drill is specific and unglamorous. Take explanation questions only, strip the numbers out, and require the answer as a sequence of linked clauses with no equations permitted. Then add the equation back as supporting detail. After a handful of sessions students start hearing the command term before they start writing, which is the behaviour change that moves the mark.

The same discipline fixes the diagram problem. Free-body diagrams, field diagrams and ray diagrams are not illustrations; they are the working. A student who sums forces from their mental picture of the situation makes sign errors that the diagram would have prevented, and loses marks the examiner was waiting to award for the diagram itself.

What IB physics tutoring costs in Dubai, and what the premium buys

Published Dubai figures, read in October 2026 and attributed to whoever published them. At the entry level, Tutopiya advertises from about AED 33-52 an hour and EdFlik from AED 45-65, both online. A qualified subject tutor online is published at AED 150-300, with Unitors quoting IB from AED 200. In-home one-to-one sits at AED 180-350 per Dubai rate guidance, with independent home tutors advertising up to AED 500. Specialist exam-year work is published at AED 200-450 and above, TutorChase quotes around AED 270, and BartyED publishes AED 650.

For physics specifically, the entry band is close to irrelevant. A capable undergraduate at AED 50 an hour can supervise homework; they cannot tell a student that their uncertainty bars make the asserted proportionality indefensible. The useful comparison in physics is between the AED 150-300 online band and the AED 180-500 in-home band, and the difference there is largely travel.

What the travel premium buys from a Jebel Ali or Emaar South address is a person in the room, which matters for a student who will not start work unsupervised. What it costs is the later start and the narrower list, because only tutors willing to make that drive appear in it at all. For Higher Level physics in this catchment, that list is short enough that the specialist question usually outweighs the presence question.

None of these are IB Gram prices and this page has no rate card; our fee depends on level and is quoted after the free trial lesson. The bands are published so a quote can be judged against something real, which three of the pages currently ranking for this search do not permit, and two of the rest quote US dollars to families who pay in dirhams.

Online physics lessons from Jebel Ali, limitations stated plainly

The format fits the assessed work. Diploma physics tutoring is mostly document work: a marked script, a data question, a draft investigation, a graph that needs interrogating. A shared screen on which both people annotate the same plot is better than one paper copy across a table, and screen sharing lets a tutor rebuild a linearisation step by step while the student writes it.

The scheduling gain matters more in physics than in most subjects because of the algebra. A 4.30pm session catches a student who can still rearrange an equation accurately. A 6.15pm session, after a tutor has crossed Dubai in term traffic, catches one who makes transposition errors. Parents commonly read those errors as weak physics; they are frequently fatigue.

IB Gram offers no home visits in the UAE. In-home tutoring is a service we run only in India, and we put that near the top of the page because two providers ranking for UAE searches route parents to an Indian phone number without disclosing that delivery is remote. A family is owed that disclosure before booking rather than after.

The honest limitations: a student who needs an adult present to begin work is better served in person; a weak home connection shortens the hour regardless of the clock; a shared study space in a Discovery Gardens apartment undermines any lesson because the tutor cannot manage the room; and no online tutor substitutes for laboratory time, which under IB rules belongs to the school anyway. If one of those describes your household, hire locally and ask the tutor about the MoHRE private tuition work permit first.

07

The honesty rules worth holding a physics tutor to

  • No grade, points or improvement promised, in any phrasing
  • No examiner claims we cannot evidence, and no implied access to marking
  • Official papers and schemes linked, never distributed
  • No KHDA, ADEK, MoE, IB or Cambridge approval claimed, because we hold none
  • Ask any independent tutor about the MoHRE private tuition permit

Physics attracts overclaiming because its results look objective. Three claims are worth discounting immediately when hiring anyone for Diploma physics in Dubai.

Promised outcomes come first. No tutor can commit to a 7, a points total or a grade improvement, and grade boundaries are set after each session is marked, so even a well-informed prediction is a prediction. We publish no outcome promise, no success percentage and no self-asserted rating, because a statistic without n, date and method is a liability rather than evidence. Any page offering a figure of that kind should be asked to produce the underlying data.

Examiner claims come second. We do not describe tutors as IB examiners, because current examiner status is not something we can evidence for individuals, and in this market examiner status is routinely used to imply access to marking, grade boundaries or paper content that nobody has. We also do not host or distribute board papers, mark schemes, boundary tables or subject guides; we reference the official sources and work from the school's licensed copies.

Regulatory endorsement comes third. IB Gram is not KHDA approved - a KHDA Educational Services Permit is issued to training institutes with physical premises in Dubai, and we hold none and operate no UAE office. We claim no ADEK, MoE, MoHRE, IB or Cambridge accreditation or partnership. Separately, private tutoring in the UAE requires the MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, which the UAE government states is granted free of charge for two years, and tutoring without it carries fines and penalties under the applicable laws.

08

Starting mid-calendar, and what we say when we cannot help

Most families start somewhere in the middle of the calendar, which is workable as long as the plan reflects where that is. Send the level - Higher or Standard - the school, and a photograph of the most recent marked assessment, or the current draft of the investigation if that is the live deadline.

The first session is diagnostic, not introductory. The tutor reads the script against the mark scheme and tells you which of three positions you are in: habit marks recoverable in weeks, unfinished content needing a term, or both with a deadline too close to serve either properly. The third answer is the one families least want to hear and most need, because it determines what gets sacrificed and by whom.

Matching takes about a day for Standard Level physics. Higher Level in the second Diploma year can take two or three days, because the pool is genuinely narrow and a general science tutor in front of a Higher Level investigation is worse than a delay. We tell you the expected wait at the enquiry rather than letting you discover it.

When no suitable physics specialist has a slot at the hour you need, we say so and offer real alternatives: a different weekday with the right tutor, a short block until a regular slot frees up, or an honest recommendation to look locally with the permit question in hand. No competitor in this market publishes what happens when it cannot help, which is why that sentence is on this page rather than in a delayed reply.

Where we tutor

Where Diploma physics students in this catchment live

These communities share the Jebel Ali school catchment. They also share a very thin local supply of IB physics specialists, which is the practical reason this page talks about delivery.

Jebel Ali Village

Low-rise housing beside the port and free zone. Requests from here are usually late in the second Diploma year, which narrows what can honestly be promised.

Al Furjan

Metro-connected villas and townhouses, and the main source of Higher Level physics requests in this cluster, often tied to an investigation deadline.

Discovery Gardens

Dense apartments with mixed home languages. Command-term depth features heavily here: the physics is present and the answer is written at the wrong depth.

Dubai Investments Park

Holds the catchment's IB continuum capacity, so MYP 5 students preparing for Diploma physics are concentrated in this postcode.

Green Community

Villas and low-rise apartments with the shortest school run in the cluster, and the clearest view of how few local physics specialists exist.

Dubai South

Large and new, around the Expo site and Al Maktoum airport. A radius search here for an HL physics tutor commonly returns general science tutors only.

Emaar South

Golf-course villas deep inside Dubai South. By the time a tutor has driven out here on a school night, the student is past the point of useful algebra.

Dubai Production City

Mixed residential and business district on the eastern edge, feeding into both the Jebel Ali and Motor City school sets depending on the year group.

School ecosystem

Diploma physics provision around this catchment

The Diploma is taught at a small number of schools serving this part of Dubai, mostly in Dubai Investments Park, The Sustainable City and Al Furjan. Physics cohorts at Higher Level are small, which concentrates a lot on one teacher's availability.

  • Greenfield International School, Dubai Investments Park
  • Fairgreen International School, The Sustainable City
  • Sunmarke School, Al Furjan

Feeder and neighbouring schools

Most Diploma physics students in this catchment came from an IGCSE or CBSE physics background at one of these schools, which is why the first diagnostic is usually about explanation depth rather than about content coverage.

  • The Winchester School, Jebel Ali
  • Delhi Private School Dubai
  • Dove Green Private School
  • The Arbor School, Al Furjan
  • The International School of Choueifat Dubai
  • South View School, Remraam

Schools appear here as local education context only. IB Gram claims no affiliation, partnership, endorsement or client relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say the level and the live deadline

Higher or Standard, and whether the next pressure point is the investigation, the mocks or the papers. The same weakness needs different work in each phase, and misreading the phase is the usual cause of a wasted term.

  2. 02

Send a marked script or the investigation draft

A photograph of the most recent marked assessment, or the current draft if that is what is due. Physics is diagnosable from a script: explanation depth, diagram habits and uncertainty treatment all show within two questions.

  3. 03

Physics specialist matched at that level

Never a general science tutor. Standard Level usually matches within a day; Higher Level in the second Diploma year can take two or three, and we tell you which case applies before you start waiting.

  4. 04

    Free diagnostic trial lesson online

A real one-to-one lesson with the matched specialist, built on the script or draft you sent, ending in a written note of what it showed and what the next month should target. No card details and nothing to commit to.

  5. 05

Weekly slot, re-cut at each pressure point

The same tutor at the same Gulf Standard Time hour, with the plan rewritten after the mocks and again eight weeks out. Slots shift for Ramadan and examination weeks as a calendar change, since nobody is travelling.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The plan follows the calendar, not the complaint

Content in the first year, investigation around the school deadline, habit repair after the mocks, timed papers in the final eight weeks. Teaching new fields content in week four of the final run is the commonest wasted session in Diploma physics.

Data and uncertainty taught as a discipline

Propagation, uncertainty bars, linearisation and gradient interpretation appear on every data question and inside the investigation, and they belong to no single theme, which is exactly why they go unrevised.

Explanation marks targeted directly

An IB physics "explain" question wants a causal chain in words. Students arriving from IGCSE default to formula-and-answer and lose those marks consistently, and the fix is a drill rather than more content.

The investigation line held

Tutors narrow the question, teach the physics, check propagation and mark drafts. They never write, rewrite or supply data. Services selling finished coursework in this market put a student's whole Diploma at risk.

Figures attributed and dated

Every AED band here names its publisher and the month it was read. Three of the pages ranking for this search publish no price at all, and two quote US dollars to families transacting in dirhams.

Earliest usable hour of the day

Sessions start from about 4pm Gulf Standard Time because no tutor is driving to Jebel Ali or Emaar South. For physics that matters: transposition errors at 6.15pm look exactly like weak physics and are usually fatigue.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jebel Ali: your questions answered

When in the Diploma should a Jebel Ali physics student start tutoring?+

Earlier than most families do, because the constraint is calendar rather than content. The first Diploma year is when explanation habits and diagram discipline are cheap to build, and when the investigation can still be designed unhurriedly. Once the mocks are marked, the content window has effectively closed: a student who has not met nuclear and quantum physics by then cannot both learn it and do the timed practice that converts it into marks. Past that point the honest plan is habit repair and papers rather than new teaching.

Why does my child lose marks on physics questions they can explain out loud?+

Because "explain" in an IB physics paper means a written chain of causes, and a correct formula is not a chain. Students arriving from IGCSE default to stating an equation and computing, which scored well there and consistently loses the explanation marks here. Each loss looks like bad luck in isolation, so the pattern is rarely identified. The drill is to take explanation questions only, strip out the numbers, and require linked clauses with no equations permitted, then add the equation back as supporting detail.

How do online lessons handle the physics practical work?+

They handle the assessed thinking, not the apparatus. The internally assessed investigation is marked on research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation, and all of that is document work: checking whether an uncertainty was propagated or guessed, whether the chosen plot linearises the relationship, whether the conclusion follows from points with overlapping uncertainty bars. The hands-on procedure happens in the school laboratory under the teacher's supervision with the school's apparatus and risk assessment, as the IB requires, and no tutor substitutes for that.

What is the hardest part of IB physics for students in this catchment?+

Fields, consistently, because it requires holding an abstract model and a sign convention simultaneously under time pressure. Nuclear and quantum physics causes a different problem: it is often taught late, so it is the theme most likely to be unfinished when the mocks arrive. Beneath both sits the real difficulty, which is cross-cutting rather than topical - uncertainty treatment and graph analysis, which appear on every data question and inside the investigation and belong to no single theme, so nobody revises them.

Can a tutor help design my child's physics investigation?+

A tutor can help narrow the research question until the available apparatus can actually answer it, which is the single most valuable thing anyone does for an investigation. They can teach the physics it needs, explain what each criterion rewards, check whether uncertainties were propagated properly, question whether the conclusion follows from the data, and mark the draft against the descriptors. What they cannot do is supply the question, write any part of the document, or produce or adjust the data. Every sentence must be typed by the student.

Should a Jebel Ali student take physics at Higher or Standard Level?+

It is broader and it demands more sustained reasoning rather than simply more content. Higher Level adds extensions inside each theme and more questions requiring several linked steps to be carried through, which punishes students who abandon a question when one part does not resolve cleanly. The practical consequence for tutoring is the match: Standard Level physics specialists are reasonably available, while Higher Level in the second Diploma year has a narrow pool, and a general science tutor in front of Higher Level work is a false economy.

What should the last eight weeks before the physics papers look like?+

Timed papers and marking, with no new content. The student sits full papers under real conditions, including the data-based sections, and someone who is not the student marks them against the official scheme. The result is a ranked list of repeated habits, and the next session attacks those rather than moving to a fresh paper. New teaching in this window displaces the practice that converts existing knowledge into marks, which is why a late content push so reliably produces no change in the result.

Does my child need physics tutoring and maths tutoring separately?+

Sometimes one specialist covers both, and it works when the shared problem is algebraic - formula rearrangement failing in both subjects under time pressure. It works less well when the physics difficulty is really about causal explanation or about the investigation, which are different competencies from mathematical method. Our default is one subject per tutor, because the match is for component-level knowledge of a specific mark scheme. Tell us both subjects and we will say honestly whether one tutor fits your child's particular case.

How long does it take to match an HL physics tutor for Dubai South?+

Two to three days rather than one, and we say so at the enquiry rather than afterwards. Higher Level physics in the second Diploma year has one of the narrower specialist pools of any subject we cover, and substituting a general science tutor for a specialist wastes the family's money and the student's remaining weeks. A radius search from Dubai South or Emaar South for the same specialism commonly returns general science tutors only, which is why the delivery model changes the outcome here rather than only the price.

Why do uncertainties cost so many marks in Diploma physics?+

Because they are examined everywhere and taught nowhere in particular. Absolute uncertainty should come from the instrument's resolution rather than from a plausible-looking round number. Percentage uncertainty has to be propagated through each subsequent operation, not calculated once and forgotten. Uncertainty bars have to be real rather than a decorative constant width. And a gradient quoted to four significant figures from a hand-drawn line whose own uncertainty is larger than the last digit is simply wrong. Three or four focused sessions usually fix all of it.

My child is in MYP 5 and wants Diploma physics. What should we do now?+

Build the algebra rather than the content. The MYP assesses against four lettered criteria out of eight and rewards inquiry and communication, which is good preparation for the investigation. What it does not require is fast, accurate formula rearrangement, and Diploma physics assumes that from the first week. A summer of deliberate transposition practice, plus the habit of drawing a free-body or field diagram before any calculation, is worth more than reading ahead into themes the school will teach properly anyway.

Do you publish the IB physics exam dates?+

No, and the reason is worth stating. IB session and results dates cannot be confirmed from the IB by automated means, so this page names the May session as the one almost all UAE schools enter candidates for and goes no further. Cambridge and Pearson dates are published and we cite those where they are relevant. For your child's actual dates, the school's Diploma coordinator holds both the external session dates and the internal deadlines for the investigation and the Extended Essay, and the internal ones usually drive the term plan.

Can physics sessions move around Ramadan without losing ground?+

Yes, provided the frequency is protected rather than the length. School hours shorten, households reorganise their evening around iftar, and a weekday 5pm slot usually becomes early afternoon or post-iftar for the month. For physics the thing that decays fastest when sessions stop is algebraic fluency, so two shorter sessions a week hold more than one long one when a student is fasting. Because nobody is travelling to your address, moving a slot is a calendar change rather than a renegotiation of someone's commute.

What does the free trial physics lesson actually produce?+

A written diagnosis, and it is yours whether or not you continue. The matched specialist - not a salesperson - teaches a real one-to-one lesson online on the script or investigation draft you sent, and finishes by writing down what the document showed: whether the losses are explanation depth, diagram habits, uncertainty treatment or genuinely unfinished content, and what the first month should target. No card details are needed to book it and there is no package to commit to beforehand.

Tell us which term it is, and send one script

If you are looking for an IB physics tutor in Jebel Ali, the first question is not which theme went wrong but which pressure point is next: the investigation deadline, the mock window or the final eight weeks. Send the level, the school, and a photograph of the most recent marked assessment or the current investigation draft. A physics specialist reads it, names whether the losses are explanation depth, diagram habits or uncertainty treatment, and teaches a free one-to-one trial lesson online at a Gulf Standard Time hour that works from Jebel Ali, Al Furjan, Green Community or Dubai South.
