IB Tutor near me in Jebel Ali

The search "IB tutor near me in Jebel Ali" asks a distance question in order to solve a syllabus problem. What a Diploma student needs is someone who can read criterion C of their Internal Assessment and say what is missing. IB Gram matches Jebel Ali families to that specialist and teaches live one-to-one over video, on Gulf Standard Time, so the search radius stops deciding who teaches your child.

  • Internal Assessment criteria explained letter by letter, with mark ceilings
  • Command-term drills built from the subject guide, not from generic revision

IB & IGCSE in Jebel Ali

Why "near me" is the wrong search filter for a Diploma subject

A parent types "IB tutor near me" because that is how every other local service is found. A plumber near me, a dentist near me. The logic holds when the service requires presence and the supply is dense. It breaks for IB Diploma subjects, because the supply is thin and the thing you are buying is not presence.

Consider what you are actually looking for. Not a person who knows mathematics, but a person who knows how the IB marks mathematics: which Paper 1 answers earn method marks without a final answer, what criterion B of the Mathematics Internal Assessment is asking for, how the moderator reads a rationale. That is a narrow specialism. Filter it by a ten-kilometre radius around Jebel Ali and you may well have filtered it to zero.

The mathematics of this is unforgiving. Dubai has 227 private schools across 17 curricula, and KHDA reported that the International Baccalaureate accounts for 7% of private enrolment. Seven per cent of a large number is still a lot of students, but it is spread thinly, and the Jebel Ali and Dubai Investments Park catchment is not where the emirate's IB density is highest. The pool of people within driving distance who teach HL Chemistry to IB criteria is small.

So this page does the opposite of a radius search. It sets out what a Diploma subject specialist actually does - the criteria letters, the command terms, the component weightings, the core requirements - and then explains how a Jebel Ali family gets one. Lessons are live, one-to-one and over video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; that service runs only in India.

There is a second reason the distance filter misleads, and it is about time rather than skill. A tutor who agrees to drive to Jebel Ali Village or Emaar South cannot start before the traffic clears, which in term time means a 5.30pm or 6pm arrival. On a school night, for a Diploma student already carrying six subjects plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and a CAS commitment, the difference between a 4.30pm start and a 6pm start is whether the session happens while the student can still think. Dubai rate guidance puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350 an hour with independent tutors advertising up to AED 500, and a substantial part of that figure is the journey. You are paying a premium for the latest usable hour of the day.

If after reading it you still want someone in the room, that is a legitimate choice and this page gives you the AED bands and the permit questions to ask a local tutor. What it will not do is pretend that a tutor who happens to live in Al Furjan is, for that reason, the right person to read an HL Physics investigation.

At a glance

  • Diploma subject grades come from fixed component weightings, not general impressions
  • The Internal Assessment is marked against lettered criteria with individual mark ceilings
  • Command terms set the depth an answer must reach; mismatches cost marks silently
  • Online delivery removes the radius filter that empties the specialist pool out here
  • No IB Gram home visits in the UAE; in-home tutoring runs only in India
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three parts of the IB generate almost all the tutoring requests from this catchment, and they fail in different ways. The Diploma fails in components. The MYP fails in criteria that parents cannot interpret. The core fails on deadlines.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme subjects

Six subjects across six groups, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, each graded 1 to 7 from externally marked papers plus an internally assessed component moderated by the IB. HL carries additional content and, in the sciences and mathematics, an additional paper that rewards sustained problem-solving across linked parts.

Jebel Ali students reach the Diploma either through an IB continuum school in the Dubai Investments Park and Sustainable City belt, or by transferring from an IGCSE school at 16. The transfer route generates most requests, because an IGCSE grade 9 in a subject does not predict the HL grade in it.

COREAges 16-19 · Across both Diploma years

Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS

The core contributes up to three points on top of the 42 available from subjects, and it is where students lose points to deadlines rather than to difficulty. Theory of Knowledge is assessed by an essay and an exhibition. The Extended Essay is an independent research piece with a 4,000-word limit. CAS is not graded but must be completed for the Diploma to be awarded.

Core deadlines in this catchment are set by each school rather than by the IB, and they land earlier than families expect. The commonest failure we see is an Extended Essay research question that is too broad to answer in 4,000 words, chosen in a hurry and never narrowed before the first supervisor meeting.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria lettered A to D, each worth up to eight marks, with grades derived from descriptors rather than percentages. MYP 5 ends with the Personal Project, which has its own criteria, and some schools enter students for optional eAssessments.

Parents in Al Furjan and Green Community frequently ask whether an MYP criterion score of 5 out of 8 is a problem. The answer sits in the descriptor for that criterion in that subject, and reading it with a tutor is usually more productive than a term of general practice.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Below is what the internally assessed component looks like in each subject Jebel Ali families ask about, because that is the part of the grade a tutor can most directly help a student improve without touching their work.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The exploration is the internal component: a student-chosen mathematical investigation marked against criteria covering presentation, mathematical communication, personal engagement, reflection and the mathematics itself. Most lost marks sit in reflection, which students treat as a conclusion rather than as critical evaluation.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Same exploration criteria, different mathematics. Modelling and statistics dominate, and the common failure is quoting a regression output without stating the model, the variables or whether the fit is meaningful. Technology use must be purposeful rather than decorative.

Physics

HL and SL

The scientific investigation is internally assessed and marked on research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation. Uncertainty propagation and whether a gradient actually supports the claim being made are where strong candidates lose marks they never notice losing.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Same investigation structure as Physics. Chemistry drafts most often fail on a research question that cannot be answered by the data collected, and on conclusions that restate the trend without engaging with the chemistry that explains it.

Biology

HL and SL

The investigation plus heavy command-term sensitivity in the written papers. "Outline", "describe", "explain" and "discuss" set four different depths, and a student who answers all four at the same depth caps their paper mark regardless of content knowledge.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The Individual Oral links a global issue to two texts and is internally assessed. Paper 1 is unseen analysis, Paper 2 comparative essay, and HL adds the written essay. Marks follow analysis of technique and effect; paraphrase earns almost nothing.

Economics

HL and SL

The internal portfolio consists of commentaries on published news articles. Article choice decides the mark ceiling before any writing happens, because an article with no usable economics in it cannot support diagram-led analysis.

Business Management

HL and SL

A research project on a real organisation, marked on the quality of the question, the tools applied and the evaluation reached. Candidates who describe a company thoroughly and never evaluate score well below those who use less material better.

Visual Arts and Design Technology

HL and SL

Portfolio and process-journal components where documentation of thinking carries the marks as much as the finished object. Students in this catchment often under-document, then cannot evidence the development the criteria ask to see.

Arabic B

HL, SL and ab initio

Productive and receptive skills across prescribed themes, with an individual oral. Relevant because KHDA requires Arabic in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, so a Diploma language B grade sits alongside that mandatory provision.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Jebel Ali families use these sessions, chosen by whether the pressure is an internal deadline, a paper technique problem or a core requirement.

Criteria-led Internal Assessment coaching

Sessions built around the student's own draft read against the published criteria for that subject, criterion by criterion, with the mark ceiling for each stated out loud. The tutor explains and marks; the student writes every sentence. This is the format that most often moves a grade in the second Diploma year.

  • Each lettered criterion addressed separately
  • Draft marked against descriptors, with the reasoning explained
  • Research question narrowed until it is answerable
  • No drafting, rewriting or completion by the tutor

Command-term and paper technique drills

Short, repetitive work on the depth each command term requires, using real question stems from the subject guide. Dull and effective: most students can define the terms and still answer every question at the same depth, which caps the paper mark independently of content.

  • Question stems sorted by command term
  • Model answers built, then dismantled by the student
  • Timed single questions rather than whole papers
  • A written list of the terms the student under-answers

Core support: TOK and the Extended Essay

Process coaching on the two core components that cost points through deadlines rather than difficulty. The work is narrowing a research question, building a defensible structure and understanding what the assessment actually rewards, all on the student's own material.

  • Extended Essay research question narrowed to 4,000 words of scope
  • TOK knowledge questions anchored to real worked examples
  • School internal deadlines mapped backwards from submission
  • Referencing conventions checked against the subject guide

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Jebel Ali

01

Criteria by letter: the detail nobody in this market publishes

The internally assessed component of an IB subject is marked against criteria identified by letter, each with its own maximum mark. This sounds like administrative trivia and it is the most actionable fact about the Diploma. A student who has written a genuinely good investigation can still be capped because one criterion was never engaged with, and nothing in the quality of the rest recovers those marks.

That failure mode is invisible from the inside. The student reads their draft, sees good work, and cannot tell that a whole criterion is unaddressed, because they have nothing to compare it against. A teacher managing a full cohort flags it in a sentence on a feedback sheet. A tutor working on one document can go criterion by criterion and say: this one is worth marks, and your draft does not currently engage with it at all.

The second recurring failure is misreading what a criterion rewards. Reflection in the mathematics exploration is not a conclusion. Evaluation in a science investigation is not an apology for errors. Personal engagement is not enthusiasm. Each has a descriptor, and the descriptor is the specification. Students who read the descriptors once, early, outperform students who read the task sheet repeatedly.

None of this requires anyone in the room. It requires the draft on a shared screen, the published criteria beside it, and a reader who knows how the moderator will see it. That is why the radius around Jebel Ali is the wrong thing to be optimising.

HOW A LETTERED CRITERION IS ACTUALLY LOST
Criterion typeWhat the descriptor rewardsWhat students submit insteadFix in a session

02

Command terms set the depth, and most students answer at one depth

  • "State" wants a fact; length adds nothing
  • "Describe" wants an account; reasons are not required and do not earn
  • "Explain" wants a causal chain, not a correct formula
  • "Discuss" wants both sides and a destination
  • "Evaluate" wants a judgement with the evidence that supports it

Every IB subject guide publishes a list of command terms with definitions. "State" asks for a fact. "Describe" asks for an account without reasons. "Explain" asks for reasons or causes. "Discuss" asks for a balanced review leading somewhere. "Evaluate" asks for a judgement supported by evidence. The mark allocation follows the term, not the length of the answer.

What we see in students arriving from the Jebel Ali and Al Furjan schools is not ignorance of these definitions. Most can recite them. The problem is that under time pressure every answer comes out at the student's default depth, which is usually description. A student with a description default scores well on "describe" questions, loses half the marks on "explain", and loses most of them on "evaluate" - consistently, paper after paper, without ever identifying the pattern.

The drill that fixes it is unglamorous. Take twenty question stems from the subject guide, sort them by command term, and answer them in isolation with the term visible. Then the student marks their own answer against what the term demanded rather than against what they knew. Three or four sessions of this typically changes the default, because the student starts hearing the term before they start writing.

This matters more in the essay and science subjects than in mathematics, where the command terms are fewer and the marks follow method. In Biology, Economics, Business Management and History it is often the single largest recoverable block of marks in the whole paper.

03

The Extended Essay, counted backwards from 4,000 words

The Extended Essay has a 4,000-word limit and that limit is the design constraint everybody ignores at the start. A research question that would need a book cannot be answered in 4,000 words, and the essay that results reads as a survey rather than an investigation. It is the commonest reason a capable student scores a grade below their subject work.

Narrowing is therefore the first job and it is a job a tutor can do without touching the writing. The method is mechanical: take the question, ask what evidence would answer it, ask whether the student can get that evidence, and repeat until both answers are yes. A question about renewable energy policy becomes a question about one scheme, in one place, measured one way. The scope shrinks and the essay gets better.

The second job is the internal calendar. The Extended Essay deadlines in this catchment are set by each school, not by the IB, and they sit much earlier than families expect because the supervisor needs time and the school needs time before submission. A student who has not chosen a subject by the end of the first Diploma year is already compressing the research phase.

The third job is the boundary. A tutor may discuss the question, teach the subject content, explain the assessment criteria, check referencing conventions and read a draft against the descriptors. A tutor may not supply the question, write any part of the essay, or edit it to a finished state. Services in this market sell completed coursework, one advertising finished Internal Assessments at AED 3,750; submitting bought work risks the Diploma itself.

What a local search returns around Jebel Ali, and what it costs

Run the radius search honestly and here is the shape of what comes back. Plenty of general tutors offering homework help across all subjects. A reasonable number of IGCSE maths and science tutors, because the UK curriculum accounts for 37% of Dubai's private enrolment and the supply follows demand. Very few people who can read an HL Chemistry investigation against the criteria. Possibly none available at 5pm on a weekday.

The prices attach to the format rather than to the specialism, which is the trap. Published Dubai figures from October 2026: budget online tuition from AED 33-65 an hour at EdFlik and Tutopiya; qualified online subject tutors from AED 150-200 at Unitors; in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350 per Dubai rate guidance, with independent home tutors up to AED 500; specialists at AED 200-450 and above, with TutorChase around AED 270; and one premium provider, BartyED, at AED 650.

Notice that the in-home band overlaps the specialist band. A family in Emaar South can easily pay specialist money for a generalist, because the premium they are paying is for the drive rather than for criteria literacy. That is the specific inefficiency this page exists to point out, and it is worse the further south you live.

None of these are IB Gram prices; our fee is quoted after the free trial lesson because it depends on subject and level. The bands are here so that any quote you receive can be read against something published, which is more than three of the pages ranking for this search offer.

Online one-to-one from Jebel Ali: what it does well and where it fails

The format suits this work unusually well. Diploma tutoring is mostly reading documents together - a marked script, a draft investigation, a past-paper question - and a shared screen with both people annotating beats one paper copy between two people across a table. Sessions start at 4pm rather than 5.30pm because nobody is driving down Sheikh Zayed Road. Lessons do not cancel for traffic or road closures around the port.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE. In-home tutoring is a service we run only in India, and we say so here rather than leaving a parent to discover it after a booking. Two providers ranking for UAE searches route parents to an Indian phone number without mentioning that delivery is remote; naming the delivery model up front is the minimum.

The failures are specific and worth knowing. A student who will not begin work without an adult physically present does better with one. Younger children lose focus faster on screen. A shared or noisy study space - a real constraint in Discovery Gardens apartments - undermines any format but hurts online most, because the tutor cannot manage the room. And a weak connection turns a 60-minute lesson into 45 regardless of what the invoice says.

If one of those describes your household, hire locally and ask the tutor two questions: do they hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit, and have they taught that subject at that level to IB criteria before. Both are fair questions and a good tutor answers them without hesitation.

06

The honesty rules a Diploma family should hold a tutor to

  • Every sentence submitted must have been typed by the student
  • Criteria explanation, marking and method teaching are all legitimate
  • Drafting, rewriting and supplied data are not
  • Examiner claims should be evidenced or dropped
  • No tutoring service in this market is KHDA approved by default - ask for the permit number

The IB treats submitting work that is not the student's own as malpractice, and the consequence can be the loss of the Diploma rather than a mark penalty. That makes the honesty boundary the most important thing in any tutoring arrangement for a Diploma student, and it is routinely blurred by the services competing for this search.

The legitimate boundary is wide. A tutor may teach the subject content, explain each lettered criterion and its mark ceiling, help narrow a research question, discuss method design, explain referencing conventions, mark a draft against the descriptors and explain the marking. That covers almost everything a student genuinely needs.

What a tutor may not do is write, rewrite or complete any part of an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, TOK essay or Personal Project, supply the research question wholesale, produce the data, or edit the work to a finished state. The test is simple and worth applying after every session: has every sentence in the document been typed by your child? If a tutor offers more than that, decline and tell the school.

Two related claims to be sceptical of. First, examiner status: no tutoring service should describe a tutor as an IB examiner without evidence, and examiner status should never be used to imply access to marking, grade boundaries or paper content, because nobody has that. Second, regulatory endorsement: we are not KHDA approved, hold no ADEK, MoE, MoHRE, IB or Cambridge accreditation, and operate no UAE premises. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is issued to training institutes with premises; ask for the number from anyone claiming it.

07

Starting from Jebel Ali, including the honest unavailable case

Send three things: the subject and level, the school, and a photograph of the most recent marked assessment or the current draft of the internal component. The document is the useful part. Twenty minutes of conversation about how the term has gone tells us less than two minutes with a marked script.

We match on subject and level rather than on who is free. For SL subjects and the two mathematics courses that is usually a match within a day. For HL sciences, Arabic B or a less common language B it can be two or three days, and we say which case you are in rather than filling the slot with a near-miss. A general science tutor in front of an HL Physics investigation wastes the family's money and the student's time.

Sometimes the honest answer is that no suitable specialist has a slot at the hour you want. When that happens we offer the real options: a different weekday with the right tutor, a short block until a regular slot opens, or a recommendation to look locally with the two questions above in hand. No competitor in this market publishes what happens when they cannot help, which is exactly why it belongs on the page.

The trial lesson is free, is taught by the matched specialist rather than a salesperson, and ends with a written note of what the document showed and what the first month should target. No card details are required to book it and there is no package to commit to beforehand.

Where we tutor

The Jebel Ali search radius, and what is inside it

These are the communities a Jebel Ali "near me" search covers. They share a school catchment and a long drive to central Dubai, and none of them has a deep local pool of IB subject specialists.

Jebel Ali Village

Low-rise housing beside the port and free zone, with the oldest school sites in the cluster. A reasonable radius search from here returns mostly general tutors rather than Diploma specialists.

Al Furjan

The best-connected community in the cluster thanks to the metro extension, and the source of most Diploma maths and science requests from this catchment.

Discovery Gardens

Dense apartments, very mixed home languages, and strong demand for English A and language B support alongside the sciences.

Dubai Investments Park

Holds the catchment's IB continuum capacity along with American and SABIS schools, so Diploma students and IGCSE students live on the same streets.

Green Community

Villas and low-rise apartments with the shortest school run in the cluster. Families here notice the lack of local Diploma specialists earlier, because everything else is close.

Dubai South

Large, new and spread out around the Expo site and Al Maktoum airport. A radius search from Dubai South for an HL subject specialist routinely returns nothing usable.

Emaar South

Golf-course villas inside Dubai South, 20 to 30 minutes from most schools. Distance alone rules out most in-home Diploma tutoring on a school night.

Dubai Production City

Mixed residential and business district on the cluster's eastern edge, feeding into both the Jebel Ali and Motor City school sets.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Jebel Ali

IB provision in and around the Jebel Ali catchment

The IB schools serving this part of Dubai sit mainly in Dubai Investments Park, The Sustainable City and Al Furjan. Families often drive outward rather than inward for sixth form, which is the opposite of the pattern in central Dubai.

  • Greenfield International School, Dubai Investments Park
  • Fairgreen International School, The Sustainable City
  • Sunmarke School, Al Furjan

The surrounding non-IB school set

Most children in this catchment attend a UK, Indian or SABIS school, which is why a Diploma student here often has no classmates outside their own cohort and no local tutoring market built around IB criteria.

  • The Winchester School, Jebel Ali
  • Delhi Private School Dubai
  • The International School of Choueifat Dubai
  • Dove Green Private School
  • The Arbor School, Al Furjan
  • South View School, Remraam

Schools are named only to describe the local education context. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the subject, the level and the document

The marked script or the current draft of the internal component, plus the subject, HL or SL, and the school. The document is what makes the first session diagnostic rather than introductory.

  2. 02

Specialist matched by subject and level

Not the nearest available tutor. SL subjects and both mathematics courses usually match within a day; HL sciences and language B can take two or three, and we tell you which before you wait.

  3. 03

    Free diagnostic trial lesson online

A real one-to-one lesson on the document, taught by the matched specialist. It ends in a written note of what the draft or script showed and what the first month should target.

  4. 04

    Criteria-first plan for the term

For internal components, a plan organised by criterion rather than by topic, so each session has a named target and you can see which criterion moved. For papers, a timed-question cycle with external marking.

  5. 05

Weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time

The same tutor at the same hour each week, shifting for Ramadan, mocks and the examination session. Because no one is travelling, moving a slot is a calendar change rather than a renegotiation.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The radius stops filtering the specialist list

Diploma HL specialists are thin on the ground anywhere in Dubai and thinnest in the Jebel Ali and Dubai South belt. Teaching online removes the geographic filter that empties the list before you have even compared tutors.

Criteria literacy is what we select for

Knowing Chemistry and knowing how the IB marks a Chemistry investigation are different competencies. We match on the second, because that is the part of the grade a tutor can actually move without touching the student's work.

Published rates, attributed and dated

The AED bands here are attributed to the providers and rate guides that published them in October 2026. Three pages ranking for this search publish no price at all, and two quote US dollars to families who pay in dirhams.

A boundary we will not move

Tutors explain criteria, teach method and mark drafts. They never write, rewrite or complete assessed work. A service that will do more is offering your child a malpractice finding at a discount.

No claims we cannot evidence

No KHDA, ADEK, MoE, MoHRE, IB or Cambridge approval, no UAE office, no home visits in the UAE, no self-asserted ratings and no statistics without a source. Every delivery claim here is one we can meet.

We publish the unavailable case

If no specialist in that subject is free at your hour, we say so and offer alternatives rather than substituting a generalist. That disclosure is worth more to a family out at Emaar South than another promise about quality.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jebel Ali: your questions answered

Are there IB tutors actually based near Jebel Ali?+

There are tutors based nearby, and very few of them specialise in Diploma subjects at Higher Level. KHDA reported the International Baccalaureate at 7% of Dubai private enrolment, and that minority is not concentrated in the Jebel Ali and Dubai Investments Park belt, so the local market has grown around UK and Indian curricula instead. A radius search from here returns general tutors and IGCSE specialists in reasonable numbers and criteria-literate Diploma tutors rarely. That is the gap online delivery closes, by making geography irrelevant to the match.

What does "criterion C" mean on my child's IB feedback sheet?+

The internally assessed component of each Diploma subject is marked against criteria identified by letter, each with its own maximum mark, and the letters mean different things in different subjects. Criterion C in one subject may cover analysis and in another communication. The subject guide publishes the descriptor for each, and the descriptor is the specification. The practical move is to read the descriptor for the criterion your child scored lowest on, then compare it against what their draft actually does. That comparison is usually where the missing marks turn out to be.

Can a tutor help my child with their Internal Assessment without crossing a line?+

Yes, and the legitimate space is wide. A tutor can teach the subject content the investigation needs, explain each lettered criterion and its mark ceiling, help narrow a research question until the evidence can answer it, discuss method design, explain referencing conventions, and mark a draft against the descriptors. What a tutor cannot do is write, rewrite or complete any part of it, supply the question, or produce the data. The test after every session is whether every sentence in the document was typed by your child.

Why does my child keep losing marks on questions they understand?+

Usually because every answer is coming out at one depth. IB subject guides define command terms precisely: "state" wants a fact, "describe" wants an account, "explain" wants a causal chain, "evaluate" wants a judgement with evidence. A student whose default is description scores well on "describe" and loses most of the marks on "evaluate", consistently, without noticing the pattern. The fix is a drill rather than revision: question stems sorted by command term, answered in isolation with the term visible, until the student hears the term before writing.

How early should an Extended Essay question be settled?+

The subject should be chosen in the second half of the first Diploma year and the question narrowed before the long summer break. The limit is 4,000 words, and the commonest cause of a disappointing grade is a question that would need a book, which produces a survey rather than an investigation. School internal deadlines in this catchment are set by the school rather than the IB and land earlier than families expect, because the supervisor and the school both need time before submission. Narrowing early is the cheapest intervention available.

Is it worth paying in-home rates for a Diploma subject out in Dubai South?+

Look carefully at what the premium buys. Dubai rate guidance puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350 per hour with independent tutors to AED 500, against AED 150-300 for a qualified online subject tutor. Those bands overlap the specialist band of AED 200-450, which means a family far from the city can pay specialist money for a generalist, with the premium covering the drive rather than criteria knowledge. For HL sciences the specialist matters more than the presence. For a child who needs an adult in the room, presence wins.

Do your tutors have access to IB grade boundaries or marking information?+

No, and neither does anyone else offering you tutoring. We do not describe tutors as IB examiners, because current examiner status is not something we can evidence for individuals, and examiner status is routinely used in this market to imply access to marking, boundaries or paper content that nobody has. We also do not host or distribute IB papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables or subject guides, which are copyright material. We reference and link the official sources and work from your school's licensed copies.

My child moved from IGCSE to the Diploma and is struggling. What changed?+

The assessment changed more than the content did. IGCSE rewards accurate recall and clean method; the Diploma rewards judgement, evaluation and sustained argument, and it adds an internally assessed component marked against criteria the student has never seen before. A grade 9 at IGCSE predicts the content will be manageable and says nothing about whether the student can write an evaluation or design an investigation. Most transfer students in this catchment need criteria work and command-term work rather than more content, and that is diagnosable from one marked Diploma assessment.

Which schools near Jebel Ali teach the IB Diploma?+

The IB provision serving this catchment sits mainly outside Jebel Ali proper. Greenfield International School in Dubai Investments Park runs an IB continuum, Fairgreen International School in The Sustainable City is an IB school, and Sunmarke School in Al Furjan offers the Diploma alongside a UK-curriculum route. The surrounding schools - The Winchester School Jebel Ali, Delhi Private School Dubai, The International School of Choueifat Dubai, Dove Green Private School, The Arbor School and South View School - follow other curricula. Confirm current authorisation on each school's own site, since offerings change.

How long does it take to match an HL Physics or Arabic B tutor here?+

SL subjects and both mathematics courses usually match within a day. HL sciences, Arabic B and less common language B courses can take two or three days, because the pool is genuinely narrow and we will not fill the slot with a near-miss. We tell you which case you are in at the enquiry rather than after you have waited. If no suitable specialist has a slot at the hour you need, we say so and offer a different weekday, a short block, or an honest suggestion to look locally.

What does the free trial lesson for a Jebel Ali student actually involve?+

A real one-to-one lesson online, taught by the matched specialist rather than by a salesperson, built around the document you sent - the marked script or the current draft of the internal component. The tutor works through it with the student writing rather than watching, and finishes with a short written note of what the document showed and what the first month should target. No card details are needed to book it and there is no package to commit to beforehand. The written note is yours whether or not you continue.

Does Theory of Knowledge need tutoring, or is it just an essay?+

It needs process help more than content help. Theory of Knowledge is assessed through an essay on a prescribed title and an exhibition, and students lose marks by writing abstractly: large claims about knowledge with no worked example to test them against. The useful work is anchoring every knowledge question to a specific, real example the student can actually interrogate, and then checking the essay structure answers the prescribed title rather than the title the student wishes had been set. That is coaching on their own thinking, not writing it for them.

Can sessions work around a long school run from Emaar South?+

That is one of the clearer advantages here. Because nobody is travelling to your address, a slot can start as soon as your child is home and settled rather than after a tutor has crossed the city. Families in Emaar South and Dubai South typically take a 4.30pm or 5pm start that would not be offered by an in-home tutor at any price, and the lesson does not cancel when the port roads or Sheikh Zayed Road seize up. Slots also shift for Ramadan and examination weeks as a calendar change rather than a renegotiation.

What should I ask a local Jebel Ali tutor before hiring them directly?+

Two questions settle most of it. First, do they hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023? The UAE government states it is granted free of charge for two years, so there is no reason for a legitimate tutor to be without one, and tutoring without it carries fines and penalties under the applicable laws. Second, have they taught that specific subject at that specific level to IB criteria, and can they name the criteria? A good tutor answers both without hesitation.

Stop searching by distance and start with the document

A "near me" search around Jebel Ali will return general tutors in reasonable numbers and Diploma specialists rarely, which is a supply problem rather than a research failure on your part. Send the subject and level, the school, and the marked script or the current draft of the internal component. A specialist in that subject reads it, names the criterion or the command term that is costing marks, and teaches a free one-to-one trial lesson online at a Gulf Standard Time slot that fits the school run from Jebel Ali, Al Furjan or Dubai South. The written diagnosis is yours whether or not you go further.
