IGCSE Home Tutor in Dubai Sports City

Families searching for an IGCSE home tutor in Dubai Sports City are usually comparing two things at once: this community against Motor City or Arabian Ranches, and a tutor in the room against a specialist on screen. This page answers both with numbers. IB Gram matches Sports City and Victory Heights students with one-to-one Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel subject teachers who work live online, in Gulf Standard Time, after the school run.

  • Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel syllabuses taught by code, not by board name
  • Live one-to-one online lessons timed to Gulf Standard Time
  • Rates on this page attributed to the provider that published them
  • Trial lesson with the proposed tutor before any block is booked

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Sports City

The two comparisons behind this search

A parent in Dubai Sports City typing this phrase is almost always running two comparisons in parallel. The first is geographic: is a tutor easier to arrange here than in Motor City across Hessa Street, or in Arabian Ranches down the road, and does living inside a master-planned sports community help or hinder? The second is about format: does a tutor need to be in the room at all?

The geographic comparison resolves more simply than most families expect. Sports City has schools inside its own boundary, Motor City has one minutes away, Victory Heights has a primary school on the doorstep, and Arabian Ranches has a long-established British and IB cluster. What differs between them is not the availability of tutors but the shape of the afternoon: bus routes, fixture timetables, and how late a Year 11 student gets home. Those differences change the hour a session is booked. They do not change which syllabus the student is sitting.

The format comparison is the one with money attached. Published market rates in Dubai put in-home one-to-one tuition between roughly AED 180 and 500 an hour once travel is in the figure, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor working online. The gap is a car journey. For a Year 10 student in Mudon or Remraam, the second journey of the day lands on the student rather than the tutor, which makes the arithmetic worse again.

IB Gram resolves the format question by stating it rather than negotiating it. Lessons for every UAE family are live, one-to-one and online over video. No tutor is sent to a Dubai address, and in-home visiting is a service offered only in India. What the online model buys in exchange is the ability to match a student to the exact syllabus they sit — Cambridge 0580 or Pearson 4MA1, Cambridge Chemistry 0620 Extended or Combined Science 0653 — rather than to whoever teaches science within a twenty-minute drive.

That distinction is sharper at IGCSE than families realise, because two schools in neighbouring communities can enter the same subject with different boards, different paper structures and different tiering rules. A tutor who has taught one and not the other will teach good content against the wrong mark scheme. The section on boards below sets out what actually differs.

The rest of this page is built as the comparison the search is asking for: community against community, board against board, format against format, and cost against what the cost buys. Every AED figure is attributed to the provider who published it, and every examination date is either sourced from Cambridge and Pearson or left out. Read the tiering section before the rate tables if your child is in Year 10, because the Core or Extended entry has a longer effect on the final grade than the hourly rate ever will.

At a glance

  • Sports City, Motor City and Victory Heights differ in timing, not in tutor supply
  • Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel run different papers for the same subject
  • In-home market rates carry a travel premium of roughly AED 30 to 200 an hour
  • Lessons here are delivered live online; no UAE home visits are offered
  • Year 11 students are usually booked from 4.30pm GST onwards
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three stages generate IGCSE tutoring requests from this part of Dubailand. The years before the course matter more than most families expect, because the gaps that surface in Year 10 were usually left behind in Year 9.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

A two-year course per subject, examined by written papers at the end, with most students entering eight to ten subjects. Cambridge grades on A* to G or 9 to 1 depending on the syllabus; Pearson International GCSE uses 9 to 1. Some Cambridge syllabuses are tiered into Core and Extended, which caps the attainable grade, and that decision is made by the school long before the papers.

The UK curriculum is the largest single curriculum by enrolment in Dubai's private schools, which is why almost every community around Sports City has an IGCSE cohort. UAE candidates sit the June and November series only; Cambridge offers the February/March series to India alone, so a Sports City family should never plan around it.

LSECAges 11-14 · Years 7-9

Lower Secondary and Checkpoint years

The three years before IGCSE, assessed internally and, in many schools, by Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests, which Cambridge runs in March, May and October. Algebraic manipulation, scientific explanation and extended writing are built here. A student who leaves Year 9 unable to rearrange a formula will meet the same weakness in six IGCSE subjects.

Families in Town Square, Mudon and Remraam most often enquire at this stage, because the communities are younger and the cohorts are heavier in Years 7 to 9. The useful intervention is short and specific rather than open-ended weekly support.

POST16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

Post-16 progression from IGCSE

After IGCSE, students in this part of Dubai split between A Level and the IB Diploma, and the split often happens between schools rather than inside one. Subject choices at 16 close doors at 18, so the grade that matters is not the average but the one in the subject a student intends to continue. Entry requirements are set by the receiving school.

Several Sports City families move a child from an IGCSE school to a Diploma school in the same year, which means meeting two sets of expectations at once. A bridging block over the summer between Year 11 and Year 12 is the common request, focused on the specific subjects being continued.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IGCSE courses Sports City and Motor City families ask for most, named with the syllabus codes that actually determine what a student sits. The code is the first thing worth checking on a school's subject information sheet.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580 / Pearson 4MA1)

Core and Extended, or Foundation and Higher

Two written papers in both boards. Cambridge Extended reaches further into algebra, functions and trigonometry than Core, and Core caps the attainable grade. Marks go missing on method never written down, premature rounding, and a final answer given without units.

Physics (Cambridge 0625 / Pearson 4PH1)

Core and Extended, or single tier

Forces, energy, waves, electricity, magnetism and atomic physics. Cambridge includes a practical component with an alternative-to-practical option. The reliable losses are unit conversion before substitution, treating vectors as scalars, and explanation answers that recite a formula instead of giving a cause.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620 / Pearson 4CH1)

Core and Extended, or single tier

States of matter, atoms and bonding, stoichiometry, acids and bases, electrolysis, organic chemistry and chemical analysis. Mole calculations and ionic equations produce the widest mark spread, and most of the recoverable marks are in setting out the calculation rather than in the arithmetic.

Biology (Cambridge 0610 / Pearson 4BI1)

Core and Extended, or single tier

Cells, transport, respiration, reproduction, inheritance and ecology. Heavily assessed on data and diagram interpretation. Long answers reward precise terminology: osmosis described without mentioning a partially permeable membrane scores lower than the student expects.

Combined and Coordinated Science (Cambridge 0653 / 0654)

Core and Extended

The two-award and double-award routes for students not taking three separate sciences. Content is lighter per subject but the papers mix disciplines, so revision has to be organised by paper rather than by science. Progression to a Higher Level or A Level science from this route needs checking with the receiving school.

English Language (Cambridge 0500 / 0990, Pearson 4EA1)

First Language

Reading response and directed writing, with marks for register, audience and structure as much as for accuracy. Students lose marks by summarising when asked to analyse, and by writing a correct text in the wrong form — a report when a letter was specified.

Business Studies and Economics (Cambridge 0450 / 0455)

Single tier

Case-study based papers requiring application to the given business or economy. Definitions earn little; applied analysis and a supported judgement earn most. Diagram accuracy in Economics is the single largest avoidable loss, usually axes left unlabelled.

Computer Science (Cambridge 0478)

Single tier

Data representation, hardware, networks, security and algorithm design across two papers. Pseudocode questions are marked on logic rather than syntax, which students who have only written in one programming language often misread entirely.

Additional Mathematics (Cambridge 0606)

Single tier

Taken alongside 0580 by students heading for A Level or Higher Level mathematics. Covers calculus, functions and trigonometry at a level closer to AS, and is the best single preparation for the step up at 16. Requests for it from Sports City cluster in the second half of Year 11.

Geography and History (Cambridge 0460 / 0470)

Single tier

Skills papers and case-study based extended writing. Both reward named, dated, located examples; a generic answer about urbanisation or revolution without a specific case earns a fraction of the available marks. Source questions in History are a technique rather than a knowledge test.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

All three formats below run live online. The choice usually depends on whether the student is two years out from the papers or two months, and on whether the shortfall is content or technique.

Single-subject weekly tuition

A fixed slot with one tutor for one syllabus, tracked against a topic checklist drawn from the subject's content list. The standard choice from the start of Year 10, and the format that leaves room for gaps to be rebuilt rather than patched before a mock.

  • Matched to the syllabus code, not the subject name
  • Past-paper questions set and marked against the published scheme
  • Topic checklist shared with parents and updated weekly

Two-subject science or maths pairing

Separate tutors for two related subjects, scheduled back to back on different evenings so the student is not carrying two sets of homework into one night. Common for triple-science students in Year 11 who are solid in one science and losing marks in another.

  • A specialist per syllabus rather than one tutor across both
  • Homework spaced across the week on purpose
  • Shared view of which topics overlap, such as moles and quantitative physics

Pre-series intensive

Short, high-frequency work in the weeks before the June or November papers, built on full timed papers and immediate mark-scheme review. Bought in short blocks and reviewed, because at that stage the question is which marks are recoverable in the time left.

  • Whole papers sat to time, then marked line by line with the student
  • Paper-specific timing and question-order strategy
  • Reviewed after four sessions before any extension

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Sports City

01

What an IGCSE home tutor in Dubai Sports City means here

  • The search names a category of tuition, not a promise of a doorstep visit
  • Delivery is live, online and one-to-one in Gulf Standard Time
  • Matching is by syllabus code rather than by distance from Sports City
  • No specialist free means a wait or a referral, not a general tutor

An IGCSE home tutor in Dubai Sports City means private one-to-one tuition in a Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel subject, arranged outside school, for a student living in or around the Sports City master plan. IB Gram supplies that teaching live online over video. It does not send a tutor to a Dubai address; in-home visiting is a service offered only in India, and that is stated on every UAE page on this site.

The word 'home' in the search is describing a category of tuition rather than a delivery method, and it has survived because for twenty years in Dubai the two were the same thing. They stopped being the same thing when the binding constraint changed. A tutor no longer has to be within driving distance of Victory Heights to teach a Victory Heights student, but the cost of driving has not fallen.

What that frees up is the matching criterion. A request for Cambridge Chemistry 0620 Extended can be matched to a teacher who has taught 0620 Extended, instead of to the nearest available science graduate. For a Year 11 student eight weeks out from the papers, that is the difference between recovering marks and being taught content they already have.

The practical arrangement is plain enough to describe in a sentence: a fixed weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time, one named tutor per syllabus, homework set from past papers and marked against the published scheme, and a written note after each session. Where no specialist is free for a syllabus, the honest answer is a stated wait rather than a substitution.

02

Sports City against Motor City, Victory Heights and the Ranches

Families comparing communities usually want to know whether one is better served than another. For tutoring delivered online, the honest answer is that the communities differ in timing and in cohort composition, not in access. The table below sets out what actually changes between them, which is the shape of the weekday afternoon and the mix of subjects requested.

Sports City itself has the earliest usable slot of any community in this belt, because its schools sit inside the master plan and students are often home before half past three. Motor City loses that advantage to sport: fixtures and swim training run into the early evening on weekdays, and a 4pm booking there gets cancelled more often than it gets kept. Victory Heights families send secondary students out of the community, which costs the end of the afternoon.

Arabian Ranches and DAMAC Hills behave differently again. Both have substantial school clusters, both sit further from the Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed interchange, and both generate heavier Year 11 triple-science demand than Sports City does. Remraam and Dubailand Residence sit at the far end of the commute, and for those families the removal of a second journey is the whole value of the online format.

The cohort composition matters as much as the clock. A community with a primary school inside it and secondary commuting out produces a different enquiry pattern from one with a through-school: Victory Heights generates triple-science and Additional Mathematics requests from students taught elsewhere, while Town Square and Mudon generate Year 7 to Year 9 catch-up work. Knowing which pattern a community sits in is why the first question in any enquiry is the year group and the syllabus code rather than the postcode. The answer to 'which community is better served' is that none of them is underserved once the drive-time filter is removed, and the only community-level variable left is what time the session can realistically start.

Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel: what actually differs

Two schools in neighbouring Dubailand communities can enter the same subject with different boards, and the difference is not cosmetic. Papers differ in number and structure, tiering rules differ, and practical assessment is handled differently. A tutor teaching Cambridge content against a Pearson paper will cover the right chemistry and drill the wrong technique.

The first thing to find is the syllabus code, which appears on the school's subject information sheet and on every past paper. Cambridge Mathematics is 0580, Physics 0625, Chemistry 0620, Biology 0610. Pearson International GCSE uses 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1, 4BI1. Once the code is known, everything else — paper structure, tiering, formula sheet, calculator rules — follows from the official specification rather than from guesswork.

The second thing to find is whether the school has entered a tiered or single-tier route, because Cambridge Core caps the grade a student can achieve. A Year 10 student placed in Core who intends to take an A Level or Higher Level science has a decision to make, and it is better made in Year 10 than discovered in Year 12. The table sets out the comparison by subject.

The third difference is how practical science is handled. Cambridge sciences carry a practical component with an alternative-to-practical option, and the question style on that paper is distinctive: variable control, apparatus choice, tabulating results, spotting the flaw in a described method. Pearson handles the same skills differently within its own papers. A student drilled on one board's practical paper and then entered for the other will know the science and misread the questions, which is exactly the failure that looks like carelessness in a mock report and is actually a mismatch.

None of this is an argument that one board is harder. Both are respected, both feed the same post-16 routes, and the grade on the certificate does not record which paper structure produced it. The argument is only that tutoring has to be matched to the specification the student is actually entered for, and that a parent can establish which one that is in about two minutes by looking at a past paper header.

Core, Extended and the grade ceiling nobody mentions in Year 10

  • Core and Foundation entries cap the grade available, whatever the performance
  • The entry decision is the school's and is usually made in Year 10
  • A diagnostic against the Extended content list shows absent versus weak topics
  • Ask at parents' evening which tier, what ceiling, and what would change it

Cambridge tiering is the decision with the longest shadow in the IGCSE years. Where a syllabus is split into Core and Extended, the papers differ and so does the range of grades available. A student entered for Core cannot reach the top grades however well they perform, and the entry is made by the school, often quietly, on the basis of Year 9 and Year 10 attainment.

That is not an argument for pushing every student to Extended. A student placed on Extended who cannot handle the algebraic demand will lose more marks on harder papers than they would have gained from the higher ceiling, and the experience of sitting a paper they cannot attempt does real damage in the weeks before the series. The decision is a genuine judgement, and it should be made with the student's actual Year 10 mark profile on the table.

What a tutor can do is make the judgement informed. A diagnostic against the Extended content list shows which topics are absent rather than weak, and whether the gap is six weeks of work or two years of foundations. Where the gap is closable, the useful move is a targeted block in the first half of Year 11 and a conversation with the school. Where it is not, the honest advice is Core with a plan for the subject at 16.

Pearson's Foundation and Higher structure behaves similarly but not identically, so the same conversation has to be held against the specification the school actually entered. Either way the question to ask at the Year 10 parents' evening is specific: which tier has my child been entered for, what grade does that cap, and what would have to change for that to be revisited?

What IGCSE tuition costs across this belt, cheapest first

Start at the bottom of the market, because that is where most searches start. Tutopiya advertises online tuition from AED 33 to 52 an hour and EdFlik from AED 45 to 65, both at the university-student end of the market. That tier is real and it has a use: homework supervision, content recap, keeping a Year 9 student moving. It is not the tier that recovers marks on a Year 11 Extended paper.

The next band up is qualified subject teaching delivered online, which Unitors publishes from AED 150 for IGCSE and from AED 200 for IB. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai table puts the mid band at roughly AED 600 to 1,200 a month for weekly one-hour sessions, and the budget band at AED 240 to 600. Specialist exam-year support sits at AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more a month in the same table.

Above that, specialist rates run from AED 200 to 450 and beyond — TutorChase quotes AED 270 — and the premium named end reaches AED 650, which is BartyED's published figure. In-home visiting is quoted at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate, and independent home tutors at AED 200 to 500 once travel is included. Monthly packages advertised in this market include around AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits.

All of those are market figures published by the providers named, read in October 2026, and none of them is IB Gram's price list. They are printed because three of the six best-ranking pages for these searches publish no price at all and the two that do quote US dollars. A Sports City family should be able to see where a quote sits in the market before agreeing to it.

What the travel premium buys, and what it costs you instead

Set the two bands side by side. In-home tuition in this part of Dubai is published at AED 180 to 500 an hour. Qualified online subject teaching is published at AED 150 to 300. The overlap is narrow and the top of the in-home range is well above the top of the online one, and the reason is not that the teaching is better. It is that somebody drove to Victory Heights and will drive back.

The cost of that journey is not only money. A tutor who spends eighty minutes travelling for a sixty-minute lesson can teach fewer students, so their availability is thinner and their cancellation rate is higher. A session that depends on the Hessa Street interchange at six in the evening starts when it starts. And the pool a family is choosing from shrinks to people who happen to be free in that corridor on that evening.

There are things a person in the room genuinely does better, and it would be dishonest to pretend otherwise. A nine-year-old is easier to keep on task in person. Apparatus handled in real life is not the same as apparatus on a screen. For Year 10 and Year 11 students working through past papers, the balance runs the other way: annotating a mark scheme on a shared screen is better than annotating it upside down across a table, and the session can be rewatched before a mock.

IB Gram's position needs no hedging. There are no home visits in the UAE, India is the only country where that service runs, and the case for the online format is in the comparison rather than in a promise. What the saved travel premium buys is specialist selection, and at Extended tier in a science that is the variable that moves the grade.

June, November, and the date that actually binds

Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. The February/March series is offered to India only. A UAE candidate plans around June, with November as the resit route, and a Sports City family reading advice written for Indian candidates will be working to the wrong calendar.

Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for the centre's zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong one. That is a sentence worth taking literally: the timetable a parent finds through a search is not necessarily the timetable the school's centre is working to.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. In the most recent completed cycles, the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, so a school should always work from the live official timetable rather than a restated date.

The binding date, though, is not the examination. It is the final entry deadline, which sits months earlier and is the point at which the subject, the board and the tier are fixed. A tiering conversation held after entries have closed is a conversation about next year. That is the single most useful thing on this page for a Year 10 family in Sports City: find out when your school's entries close, and have the tier discussion before it.

Five subjects, equivalency, and what comes after the grades

  • British track: five IGCSE or GCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3
  • Arabic and Islamic Education sit outside that count of five
  • Plus one A Level at E, or two AS Levels at the same grade
  • American track: IELTS 5, TOEFL iBT 61 or SAT 450 reading-writing; SAT Math 450
  • No IB points figure is published here; confirm it on moe.gov.ae

For UAE Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, the published requirement is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, plus either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or no less, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic Education are not included among the five required subjects. One competitor page ranking for these searches states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects; the sourced figure is five.

For the American track the same guidance sets English proficiency at an IELTS academic score of 5, a TOEFL iBT score of 61, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, with mathematics requiring at least 450 in SAT Math. No verified IB points threshold is published here, because none could be read from a Ministry source, and publishing an unsourced one across thousands of pages would be worse than omitting it.

Equivalency is a Ministry process. IB Gram does not perform it, influence it or guarantee an outcome, and no tutoring is required for it. The reason it belongs on this page is that most Sports City families discover it in Year 12 or later, by which point the subject count and the grades are fixed. Knowing in Year 10 that five subjects at grade 3 or above must sit outside Arabic and Islamic Education occasionally changes a subject choice, which is the point of saying it early.

Verify the current requirement on moe.gov.ae or with the emirate's attestation authority before acting on it. Rules change, and a tutoring page is not the authority on them.

09

KHDA, the mandatory subjects and the real Year 11 timetable

Dubai's private schools are overseen by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Across the other emirates the map is ADEK in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the Sharjah Private Education Authority in Sharjah, the Department of Knowledge in Ras Al Khaimah, and the federal Ministry of Education in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. In Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah the authority approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, so the emirate regulator does more than inspect.

KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, with the requirements to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. Schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and combined classes for both groups are prohibited because curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, and schools are required to ensure teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic hold the appropriate KHDA approval to teach those subjects.

For a Year 11 student in Sports City, the consequence is arithmetic. The eight or nine IGCSE subjects on the entry sheet are not the whole timetable, and the mandatory subjects take real lesson time. Revision plans built on the assumption that school hours map onto examined subjects run short, and the shortfall usually shows up in the subject the student likes least.

The market context explains the rest. Dubai had 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25 offering 17 curricula; seven new private schools are being added for 2026-27, creating 16,846 new places, after six opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6%. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year under Dubai's second economic incentives package. Against fees at that scale, a targeted eight-session tutoring block is a small line item, which is an argument for spending it precisely rather than spreading it across a year.

These are the communities whose students share bus routes, fixtures and school gates with Sports City. The notes below are about what each one does to the shape of a weekday afternoon, because that is what actually differs.

Dubai Sports City

Schools inside the master plan and a mix of apartment towers and the Victory Heights villas. Most students are home before 3.30pm, so this is one of the few Dubailand communities where a 4pm slot works on a weekday.

Motor City

Across Hessa Street, with its own British-curriculum school. Weekday afternoons are heavier with sport and swim squads, so Year 11 bookings here usually start at 5.30pm or later.

Victory Heights

Villas inside Sports City with a primary school at the centre. Secondary students commute out towards Al Barsha and Jumeirah, which adds thirty to forty minutes to the end of the day.

Arabian Ranches and Ranches 2

A short drive south-west with an established school cluster of its own. IGCSE requests here skew towards triple science and Additional Mathematics in the second year of the course.

DAMAC Hills

Further south with a British-curriculum school inside the community. Bus journeys are longer than Sports City's, which pushes session times back and makes the removal of a second journey more valuable.

Town Square and Mudon

Younger communities with more primary and lower-secondary demand. Enquiries here tend to follow a Year 9 report rather than a Year 11 mock, and short diagnostic blocks suit them better.

Remraam and Dubailand Residence

Out along the Dubai-Al Ain corridor with commutes that can run close to an hour each way. Online delivery is not a preference here so much as the only format that leaves usable time in the evening.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai Sports City

Inside and beside Sports City

Schools within or minutes of the Sports City and Motor City boundary. Between them they enter Cambridge and Pearson syllabuses, which is why the board question has to be asked per school rather than per community.

  • GEMS United School, Dubai Sports City
  • Bradenton Preparatory Academy, Dubai Sports City
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Dubai Heights Academy
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai

The Ranches and DAMAC Hills side

The secondary destinations many Sports City and Victory Heights students travel to. These cohorts are where triple-science and Additional Mathematics requests concentrate in Year 11.

  • Jumeirah English Speaking School, Arabian Ranches
  • Ranches Primary School
  • Jebel Ali School, DAMAC Hills
  • The Aquila School, Dubailand
  • South View School
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park

Schools are named only to describe the curriculum mix around Dubai Sports City; no affiliation, endorsement or relationship with any named school or group is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the syllabus code, not just the subject

An enquiry that says 'Cambridge Chemistry 0620 Extended, Year 11, last mock a 5' can be answered properly. One that says 'science help needed' cannot. The code is on the school's subject information sheet and on every past paper, and it decides which tutors are a genuine match.

  2. 02

Trial lesson with the tutor who would teach

A full online session with the proposed specialist rather than a call with a coordinator. The tutor works through the student's own marked paper, sorts the lost marks by cause, and sends a written summary with the topics to rebuild. No card is required and there is no obligation to continue.

  3. 03

Fix a target and a block length

Work is booked against a named objective — mole calculations, Paper 2 timing, directed writing forms — in a block short enough to judge. A target makes the block reviewable; an open-ended weekly hour tends to continue on momentum regardless of whether marks have moved.

  4. 04

Weekly sessions with marked past-paper work

Each session sets questions from past papers, marked against the published scheme before the next one. The topic checklist is updated and shared, and the note home says what was covered and what was set rather than reporting that the session went well.

  5. 05

Review at four sessions, change if needed

At four sessions the block is measured against its target. If the marks have not moved, the answer is a different diagnosis, a different tutor or a different frequency, and changing the match costs nothing. Families who never review a block are the ones who pay for a year of no movement.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched to a syllabus, not a subject

Cambridge 0620 Extended and Pearson 4CH1 are different papers with different question styles. A tutor who has taught one and not the other will teach correct chemistry against the wrong mark scheme, and that is the most common way a Year 11 block produces no movement at all.

Rates printed with their source

Every AED figure here names the provider that published it and the month it was read. Most pages competing for this search publish no price, and the two that do quote US dollars. A family in Sports City deserves to see the bands before the conversation about fees, not afterwards.

The tiering conversation, held early

Core and Foundation entries cap the grade a student can reach, and the entry is usually made in Year 10 without much discussion. A diagnostic against the Extended content list shows whether the gap is weeks of work or years of foundations, which is what makes that conversation useful.

Dates taken from the boards

Cambridge's June and November series, the six administrative zones, and Pearson's May/June and November windows are stated from the boards' own pages. The February/March series is not mentioned as an option because Cambridge offers it to India only, and advice written for Indian candidates misleads UAE families.

Delivery stated on the page

Lessons for UAE families are live, one-to-one and online over video in Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram sends no tutor to a home in Dubai or anywhere in the UAE, and home visiting runs only in India. That is on the page rather than discovered after a deposit has been paid.

No accreditation claimed

IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, Ministry of Education, Cambridge or Pearson approval and claims none. The regulators and boards named here are described so parents know who does what. Any provider describing its tutors as regulator-approved is making a claim worth checking before paying.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Sports City: your questions answered

Does IB Gram send an IGCSE tutor to a villa in Dubai Sports City?+

No. Every UAE lesson is delivered live online, one to one, over video in Gulf Standard Time, and in-home visiting is a service offered only in India. Independent tutors in this part of Dubai do visit homes, and published market rates for in-home one-to-one sessions run roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour once travel is in the figure, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online subject tutor. The difference pays for the journey. The online model is offered instead because it allows matching by syllabus code.

Where exactly do I look to see which IGCSE board my child's Sports City school entered?+

Look for the syllabus code rather than the board name. It appears on the school's subject information sheet, on the exam entry confirmation, and on the top of every past paper the student has been given. Cambridge codes look like 0580, 0620 or 0625; Pearson International GCSE codes look like 4MA1, 4CH1 or 4PH1. Schools in neighbouring communities around Sports City sometimes enter different boards for the same subject, so the answer cannot be inferred from where you live.

Is Sports City better served for tutors than Motor City or Arabian Ranches?+

For online tuition, access is the same across all three; what differs is the shape of the afternoon. Sports City students are often home before 3.30pm because their schools sit inside the master plan, so a 4pm slot holds. Motor City loses the early slot to sport and swim training. Victory Heights secondary students commute out towards Al Barsha, and DAMAC Hills and Remraam have longer bus journeys again. The practical answer is that the community sets the session time, not the tutor supply.

If my child is entered for Core, what is the highest IGCSE grade still available?+

Where a Cambridge syllabus is tiered, Core and Extended sit on different papers and Core caps the grade that can be achieved however well a student performs. Pearson's Foundation and Higher structure works similarly. The entry is made by the school, usually during Year 10, on the basis of attainment to that point. If your child intends to continue the subject at A Level or Higher Level, ask which tier they have been entered for and what would have to change for that to be revisited.

How much should I expect to pay for IGCSE tuition around Dubailand?+

Published rates run from roughly AED 33 to 65 an hour at the university-student end, where Tutopiya and EdFlik advertise, through AED 150 to 300 for qualified online subject teaching, which is where Unitors publishes its IGCSE rate from AED 150. Specialist rates reach AED 200 to 450 and beyond, with TutorChase at AED 270. Bestimate's monthly estimates for weekly hour-long sessions are AED 240 to 600 budget, AED 600 to 1,200 mid and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more in an exam year.

Which IGCSE subjects do families in this part of Dubai struggle with most?+

Mathematics at Extended tier, Chemistry, and English Language, in roughly that order of enquiry volume. In Mathematics the losses cluster in algebraic manipulation and in method never written down. In Chemistry they cluster in mole calculations and ionic equations, where most recoverable marks sit in how the calculation is set out. In English Language the common failure is writing a competent text in the wrong form, which no amount of content knowledge rescues.

When should a Year 10 student in Sports City start tutoring?+

Early enough for the tiering decision to still be open, which in practice means the first half of Year 10. That is when a diagnostic against the Extended content list is most useful, because absent topics can still be rebuilt rather than patched. Waiting until the Year 11 mock results means working inside whatever tier was entered, with weeks rather than terms available. A short diagnostic block in Year 10 is cheaper than an intensive in Year 11.

Can one tutor cover maths and two sciences for the same student?+

It is possible but rarely the better arrangement. Each syllabus has its own paper structure, command terms and mark scheme, and a tutor strong in one is usually average in another. The approach here is a specialist per syllabus, with sessions spaced across different evenings so the student is not carrying three sets of homework into one night. For a triple-science student in Year 11, two tutors on separate evenings produces more movement than one tutor across three subjects.

Are science practicals a problem if lessons are online?+

Practical skills are assessed through written components, and Cambridge offers an alternative-to-practical route in several sciences, so the examinable skill is largely about experimental design, variable control, data handling and evaluating method. All of that can be taught on screen using real past-paper data. What online lessons cannot do is replace handling apparatus in a school laboratory, which is the school's job. The honest division of labour is that the school supplies the bench and the tutor supplies the technique.

Do tutors working in Dubai Sports City need a government permit?+

Private tutoring in the UAE requires a MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is granted free of charge for two years and is open to school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Applications are made through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published.

How many IGCSE subjects does a Dubai student need for Ministry equivalency?+

On the British track, five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic Education excluded from that count, plus one Advanced Level subject at grade E or two Advanced Subsidiary Level subjects at the same grade. A competitor page ranking for these searches states six; the sourced requirement is five. Confirm the current rule on moe.gov.ae or with the emirate's attestation authority, because equivalency is a Ministry process and no tutoring provider decides it.

What happens if we try a tutor and the match is wrong?+

You ask for a different one, and that is treated as normal rather than awkward. The trial lesson exists to make the mismatch visible before money is committed, and blocks are reviewed at four sessions so a quiet lack of progress gets caught. The failures worth avoiding are the silent ones: a pleasant weekly hour that nobody measures, continuing for a term because changing felt like a complaint. Reviewing a block against a stated target removes that problem entirely.

Can sessions be rescheduled around fixtures and swim training?+

Yes, and in Motor City and Sports City that comes up most weeks. Because lessons are online, moving a slot needs no journey rearranged on either side, so a Tuesday session can become Wednesday within the same week without anybody losing travel time. The limit is the tutor's own timetable rather than geography. Families with a weekly fixture clash usually settle on a fixed weekend morning slot instead, which holds better through a season than a weekday evening.

Does a tutor help with coursework for IGCSE subjects?+

A tutor teaches the assessment criteria, questions the method, discusses whether evidence supports a conclusion and gives feedback on what the student has written. A tutor does not write, complete or produce any part of assessed work. That line is a board rule rather than a house preference, and work a student did not produce becomes a malpractice finding against the student. Any provider offering finished coursework is selling a risk that lands on the candidate, not on them.

Is it worth starting tuition eight weeks before the June papers?+

Often yes, but the plan has to change. Eight weeks is not enough to rebuild absent topics across a syllabus, so the work becomes triage: identify which marks are recoverable in the time available, drill those, and stop spending sessions on content the student will not reach. Full timed papers with immediate mark-scheme review is the format that works at this range. What does not work is starting at topic one and hoping to arrive at the end before the series.

Send the code, the year and the last paper

If you want an IGCSE home tutor in Dubai Sports City, the useful first message names the syllabus code, the year group and the most recent marked paper. From that it is possible to say honestly whether a specialist in that exact syllabus is free, what the first block should try to move, and whether the tier your child has been entered for is the right one. The trial lesson is a full teaching session with the tutor who would do the work, delivered live online in Gulf Standard Time, and it ends with a written list of topics to rebuild rather than a quote.
