IB Internal Assessment Help in the UAE

IB internal assessment help in the UAE usually means one thing: a Diploma student has an exploration, an investigation or a portfolio due, the school deadline is nearer than they admitted, and the component is worth a fifth of the final grade. This page prices that work honestly. Market rates in AED with the source named, the six variables that move the number, what one paid hour should produce, and the academic-honesty line no tutor may cross. Lessons run live online, one-to-one, in Gulf Standard Time slots built around a UAE school day.

IB & IGCSE in the UAE

What you are actually paying for when you buy coursework supervision

An internal assessment is the piece of Diploma coursework the student's own subject teacher marks and the IB then moderates. In most subjects it carries between 20% and 30% of the final grade, which makes it worth more than a whole examination paper in several courses. IB internal assessment help in the UAE is normally bought in blocks of three to eight hours, and rates for a qualified subject teacher across this market run from roughly AED 150 to AED 450 an hour, with named or examiner-experienced reviewers quoted well above that.

Families in the Emirates tend to buy that help at one of three moments. The first is topic selection, eight to twelve weeks before the school's own draft deadline, when an answerable research question costs an hour and an unanswerable one costs a term. The second is the data or analysis stage, when numbers exist but nothing has yet been concluded from them. The third is the week the draft is due, which is simultaneously the most expensive hour a family can buy and the hour least able to change the mark. The price you are quoted follows the stage far more closely than it follows the subject.

What moves the number is narrower than most quotes let on. A Maths AA exploration and a Physics investigation are marked against different criteria, carry different ceilings and demand different skills from whoever reads them. Somebody who can design a controlled experiment is not automatically somebody who can tell you whether a trigonometric model is at the level of Analysis and Approaches HL. The scarcity of that exact pairing of subject, level and component is what a higher AED figure is really buying in a market this size. Travel is the other input, and online delivery removes it entirely.

There is a line here that matters more than the price does. Under IB academic-honesty rules the work has to be the student's own. A tutor may teach the underlying content, question a method, name a criterion the student has not addressed and unpack what a command term is asking for. A tutor may not supply text, rework paragraphs or hand over a finished method. We state this on every page because at least one provider in this market sells finished coursework at a published figure, and a candidate who buys it puts the entire Diploma at risk.

Delivery is live online, one-to-one, over video, with the draft on a shared screen. For coursework that is a practical advantage rather than a compromise: the student scrolls, the tutor annotates inside the student's own file, and the student types the change while the reasoning is still warm. Sessions sit in Gulf Standard Time around a UAE school day, and they move for Ramadan, for the school's draft week and for the mock season. IB Gram does not send anybody to a UAE address. Home visits are a service we run only in India.

The rest of this page is the arithmetic. What each subject's internally assessed component is worth, what this market charges for help with it, which six variables move that figure, what a paid hour may and may not touch, and what a family should simply refuse to pay for.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Internal assessment is not only a Diploma word. Each IB programme carries work the school marks and a moderation process checks, and each one is priced differently because each one needs a different kind of reader. Here is what sits where, and what UAE schools actually do with it.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Every Diploma subject carries at least one internally assessed component: a mathematical exploration, a scientific investigation, a portfolio of three commentaries in economics, a historical investigation, an individual oral in the language courses. The subject teacher marks it against published criteria and the IB moderates a sample from each school. Above the subject components sit the three core pieces, the Extended Essay, the TOK essay and the TOK exhibition, plus the CAS portfolio. Almost all paid coursework supervision in the Emirates is bought for this programme, and the overwhelming majority of it in DP1 term two and DP2 term one.

UAE schools generally set final Diploma internal assessment deadlines between the end of DP1 and the February of DP2, months ahead of the May session families here sit. Because a Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah school year opens in late August or early September, DP1 students frequently have a first full draft due before the winter break. That is why December and January are the two tightest weeks in the year for supervision availability across the Emirates.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

MYP work is marked by the school against four criteria per subject, each out of eight, with the personal project in MYP5 assessed against criteria for planning, applying skills and reflecting. Where a school enters students for MYP eAssessment, the ePortfolios in design, arts, physical and health education and the personal project are externally moderated. The marks never reach a Diploma transcript, so the value of support here is habit-forming rather than grade-protecting: a student who learns to hold a process journal in MYP5 writes a far cheaper exploration two years later.

A large number of UAE through-schools run MYP into Year 11 and then switch families into the Diploma, which means the first real coursework a Dubai or Abu Dhabi student meets is often the MYP personal project rather than an IGCSE paper. Families who fund two or three hours of process coaching at that point tend to buy fewer emergency hours in DP2, which is the only genuinely cheap moment in the whole five-year sequence.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

The Career-related Programme pairs at least two Diploma courses with a career-related study and a core that includes the reflective project, a piece of work of around 3,000 words on an ethical dilemma arising from the student's career field. The reflective project is internally assessed and externally moderated, and it is the component CP students most often seek help with, because it asks for research discipline that the career-related study does not teach directly.

CP is offered by a small number of UAE schools compared with the Diploma, so the pool of people who have actually supervised a reflective project in this market is thin. That scarcity, not the difficulty of the work, is what pushes a CP quote above a Diploma one. We say plainly when a CP specialist is not free in the hour a family wants rather than substituting a Diploma tutor and hoping.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1-Year 6

Primary Years Programme

The PYP has no graded internal assessment, but it ends in the exhibition: a collaborative inquiry in the final year that the school assesses against its own criteria and that functions as a first encounter with independent research. Students present a question, gather evidence, and defend what they found. Support at this stage is about research habits, note-keeping and talking through an argument out loud, never about producing a polished artefact.

PYP exhibitions in UAE schools usually land in the spring term, when the weather still allows the fieldwork and community elements that make a strong exhibition. Families rarely need paid hours here, and we say so. Where a PYP student does work with somebody, it is normally one or two sessions on structuring a question, and that is the honest scope of it.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Below is what the internally assessed component actually is in the subjects UAE families ask about most, with the marks and the ceiling attached. Weightings and criteria change between syllabus cycles, so treat the current subject guide held by your school's IB coordinator as the authority and this grid as the orientation.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The mathematical exploration is 20 marks across criteria A to E and 20% of the grade at both levels. Criterion E, use of mathematics, carries six of those marks and is where HL students lose most: the working is correct but sits below the level of the course. Maths exploration support is overwhelmingly spent on topic choice and on criterion E.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

The same exploration, same 20 marks, same 20% weighting, but the strongest work here is modelling or data-led rather than proof-led. The common failure is an exploration that collects real data and then does nothing with it beyond a line of best fit, which satisfies neither personal engagement nor use of mathematics.

Biology

HL and SL

The scientific investigation is 24 marks across research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation, with a 3,000-word ceiling and a 20% weighting at both levels. Biology drafts most often lose marks in data analysis, where a mean is reported without a measure of spread and no statistical test is attempted on data that plainly needs one.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Same component, same 24 marks, same ceiling. Chemistry investigations fail in research design: an uncontrolled variable left unmentioned, a concentration range too narrow to show a trend, or an uncertainty budget that stops at the balance and ignores the burette. Science internal assessment feedback here is mostly method interrogation before any data exists.

Physics

HL and SL

The investigation again, 24 marks and 20%. Physics drafts are usually strong on apparatus and weak on evaluation, the fourth criterion: the student states that the result was close to the accepted value without discussing whether the uncertainty range actually overlaps it, which is the exact judgement the criterion asks for.

Economics

HL and SL

The portfolio is three commentaries on published news articles, each capped at 800 words, worth 45 marks in total, and weighted 30% at SL and 20% at HL. Economics IA commentaries lose marks for diagrams that are drawn but never referred to in the analysis, and for articles chosen so broadly that no single key concept can be applied properly.

History

HL and SL

The historical investigation runs to 2,200 words in three sections worth 6, 15 and 4 marks, weighted 25% at SL and 20% at HL. Historical investigation support is almost always needed in section one, where students summarise two sources instead of evaluating their origin, purpose and content, and in section three, which is a reflection and not a conclusion.

Geography

HL and SL

The fieldwork report runs to 2,500 words and 25 marks, weighted 25% at SL and 20% at HL, and it has to rest on primary data the student collected. UAE geography students often have a strong site and a weak question: a wadi or a creek-side survey is plentiful in raw data and short on a hypothesis that the data can actually test.

Language A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The individual oral is a ten-minute presentation plus five minutes of questions on a global issue, worth 40 marks and weighted 30% at SL and 20% at HL. Marks are lost on extract selection rather than delivery: two extracts that do not genuinely illuminate the same global issue cap the first two criteria before the student opens their mouth.

Business Management

HL and SL

The research project asks the student to investigate a real business issue and produce a report against published criteria, with a word ceiling and a weighting that differ by level and by syllabus cycle. The dependable failure is a project built on secondary data about a company the student cannot reach, where no supporting document can be verified.

Psychology

HL and SL

The internally assessed component is an experimental study written up against criteria covering the introduction, exploration, analysis and evaluation. Students lose marks by replicating a classic study without being able to state which theory their own data speak to, and by reporting descriptive statistics with no inferential test where the design demands one.

Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge

Core, all Diploma candidates

The Extended Essay is a 4,000-word independent research piece marked out of 34 and supervised by a school teacher; TOK is a 1,600-word essay on a prescribed title plus an exhibition of around 950 words. Together they carry the three core points. Supervision here is process coaching: a research question that can be answered in 4,000 words, and a reflection that is genuine rather than decorative.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Online IB coursework supervision is bought in three shapes in this market, and they are not interchangeable. One buys a diagnosis, one buys a term of discipline, and one buys a single expert read. Choosing the wrong shape is the most common way a family overspends on a component.

Single-draft review with written notes

One or two hours on a draft that already exists. The session runs on a shared screen, the student keeps the file, and the notes point at criteria rather than at sentences. This is the cheapest useful intervention and the one most families should buy first, because it tells you whether the draft needs an hour or needs a rebuild before you commit to a block.

  • Criterion-by-criterion read against the current subject guide
  • Written notes the student can show their own subject teacher
  • No text supplied, inserted or reworked at any point
  • Priced as one or two hours, not as a package

Full supervision from topic to final draft

Six to ten hours spread across a term, scoped backwards from the school's own deadline. The first session fixes the research question, the middle sessions sit on method and analysis, and the last sits on criteria the student has not yet evidenced. This is where science internal assessment feedback earns the most, because a method questioned in week two cannot be fixed in week ten.

  • Session plan built from your school's draft deadline, not a generic calendar
  • Method and ethics or safety questioned before data collection starts
  • Analysis taught on a parallel example, never run on the student's own data
  • A final pass on word ceiling, references and unaddressed criteria

Weekly subject tuition with coursework checkpoints

An ordinary weekly hour in the subject, with the component treated as a standing agenda item rather than a separate purchase. For a student who is behind in content as well as in coursework, this is better value than two parallel arrangements, because the same person sees both problems and can decide which one is actually holding the grade down.

  • One hour a week across a term, in a fixed Gulf Standard Time slot
  • Content gaps and the component addressed by the same person
  • Checkpoints set against the school's draft deadline
  • Moves to a post-Iftar slot through Ramadan at the same rate

IB and IGCSE tutors available to students in the UAE

The people below are matched by subject and by component, not by postcode. A Maths AA exploration needs someone who can judge whether the mathematics sits at the level of the course; a Chemistry investigation needs someone who will interrogate a method and an uncertainty budget. Send the subject, the level and your school's draft deadline, and the shortlist follows from those three facts.

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in the UAE

01

Which internal assessment your child is actually sitting

Before any price makes sense, you need to know which component you are buying help with and what it is worth. An internal assessment is not one thing. In mathematics it is a 20-mark exploration on a topic the student chooses. In the sciences it is a 24-mark investigation the student designs and runs, with a 3,000-word ceiling. In economics it is three separate commentaries on published news articles, each capped at 800 words. In history it is a 2,200-word investigation in three unequal sections. The hours needed, and therefore the cost, follow from that structure and not from the subject's reputation for difficulty.

The weighting is the number that should drive the decision. A component worth 20% of a Higher Level grade is worth more than most single papers in the same subject, and unlike a paper it is written over weeks with feedback available part-way through. That is an unusual combination: significant marks, a long runway, and a legitimate opportunity to be taught while the work is in progress. Families who understand that spend money early, on a question and a method. Families who do not spend more money later, on a draft that cannot be rescued.

The table below sets out what the component is, its ceiling, its marks and its share of the grade for the subjects UAE families ask about most. Treat it as orientation. IA criteria and mark allocations are revised between syllabus cycles, and the authority for your child is the current subject guide held by their school's IB coordinator, not any page on the internet. Ask the coordinator for the criteria sheet before you buy an hour; a specialist reading the same sheet the teacher marks against is worth considerably more than one working from memory.

What coursework supervision costs in the UAE, by what you actually buy

Nobody in this market publishes a price for coursework supervision specifically, so the figures below are built from the hourly rates UAE providers do publish, read in October 2026, plus Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table. They are market figures and not IB Gram prices. We quote them because three of the six strongest pages ranking for these searches publish no price at all, and two of the three that do quote in US dollars, a currency no family in the Emirates transacts in.

Read the table by the row that matches what you intend to buy rather than by the lowest number in it. A single read of a finished draft and full supervision from topic to submission are different products that happen to share an hourly rate, and the block totals are what a family actually pays. The budget band at the bottom is real and widely advertised, but at AED 45 to AED 65 an hour you are typically buying a current university student who has sat the examination rather than somebody who has marked against the criteria.

Two warnings about reading any quote in this market. First, ask whether the figure is per sixty minutes or per school period, because a 45-minute period priced as an hour is a 33% increase that never appears in the headline. Second, ask what happens to unused hours in a prepaid block, and get the answer in writing before you pay. Coursework blocks are especially exposed to this, because a school deadline can move and a block bought for March becomes a block that has to be used in February.

Six variables that move a coursework quote

Two families can be quoted AED 180 and AED 450 for help with the same subject in the same week, and both figures can be honest. What separates them is almost never the brand. It is the stage the draft has reached, the component in question, the level, how rare the required pairing of those three is in a market this size, the delivery format, and where in the school year the request lands. Everything else is packaging.

Stage is the dominant variable and the one families control. A research question fixed in an hour at week twelve costs the price of an hour. The same question left unexamined until week three before submission costs six hours and still caps several criteria, because personal engagement and reflection are marks for a process that did not happen. That asymmetry is why we push every enquiry towards an early, short diagnostic session rather than a large late block.

Scarcity is the variable families control least. There are plenty of people in the Emirates who can read a Biology investigation. There are very few who have supervised a Music, Film or Global Politics component, and the rate for those follows the pool rather than the difficulty. When nobody is free for a scarce pairing in the hour a family wants, we say so and offer the alternatives rather than substituting a general Diploma tutor and letting the family discover the gap in session two.

Criterion letters, and where the marks actually go missing

  • Mathematics, criterion E: six of 20 marks, awarded for mathematics commensurate with the level of the course
  • Mathematics, criterion C: personal engagement cannot be retrofitted into a draft in the final week
  • Sciences, research design: marks lost before data collection, and unrecoverable afterwards
  • Sciences, evaluation: a conclusion that ignores whether the uncertainty range overlaps the accepted value
  • History, section one: evaluation of origin, purpose and content, not a summary of two sources
  • Economics: a diagram drawn and then never referred to in the analysis costs marks in every commentary

A paid hour is worth what it changes. On a coursework component that means the hour has to move a specific criterion, and the only way to know which one is to read the criteria with the draft open. This is the single biggest difference between a session that is worth AED 300 and a session that is worth nothing: one works through the mark allocation letter by letter, the other talks about the subject in general and leaves the student feeling better and marked the same.

In the mathematical exploration the 20 marks split into presentation, mathematical communication, personal engagement, reflection and use of mathematics, with the last carrying six marks on its own. Most explorations that come to us scoring in the middle are well presented and under-mathematised: the topic is interesting, the writing is clear, and the mathematics used would be unremarkable at the level below. Fixing that is a topic conversation, not an editing conversation, which is why it has to happen early.

In the sciences the 24 marks split across research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation. Research design is where UAE students most often lose marks before they have collected a single data point, usually through a range too narrow to show a trend or a controlled variable that is named but not actually controlled. Evaluation is where the strongest students still lose marks, by asserting that a result was close to the accepted value without testing whether the uncertainty range genuinely overlaps it. Those are two different sessions, eight weeks apart.

05

The honesty line: what one paid hour may and may not touch

IA academic honesty rules are the reason this page exists in the form it does. A Diploma candidate signs a declaration that the work submitted is their own. A teacher signs to say they can authenticate it. If either signature is unsafe, the consequence falls on the student and it is not a mark deduction, it is a malpractice investigation. No price justifies exposing a candidate to that, and any provider willing to blur the line is selling you a risk rather than a service.

The line itself is clearer than nervous parents expect. Teaching is unrestricted. A tutor may explain the content, work a parallel example, question a method until the student finds the flaw themselves, name a criterion the draft has not addressed, teach a referencing style, and explain what a command term requires. What a tutor may not do is supply the words, the method or the analysis. The distinction is authorship, not assistance, and a student who has had excellent teaching and written every word themselves is in exactly the position the IB intends.

One structural point families miss: in most subjects the teacher may give formal written feedback on one draft only. That makes a second, earlier, non-school read genuinely valuable, because it means the student arrives at the teacher's single formal read with a stronger draft and does not waste that one opportunity on problems they could have found sooner. Used that way, outside supervision increases the value of what the school already provides instead of competing with it.

06

The coursework year, counted backwards from your school's deadline

IB internal assessment deadlines are set by your school, inside a window the IB fixes, which is why two Diploma students in the same emirate can be weeks apart. The only calendar that matters to you is the one your subject teacher issued. Build everything backwards from that date, because every stage below has a point past which money stops being able to help.

In the Emirates the compression is predictable. A school year that opens in late August or early September puts the first full Diploma drafts somewhere around the winter break, and the mock season lands on top of them in January. That is also when Ramadan falls in some years, shortening the school day and moving the whole evening. Families who plan the component into September and October are buying ordinary hours at ordinary rates. Families who start in January are competing for the same thin supply as everybody else in the country.

We publish no IB examination or results dates on this page. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so every date in this project would be second-hand, and a wrong date on a page like this is worse than no date. Confirm the session and results timing with your school's IB coordinator or on ibo.org directly. Where a family also sits Cambridge or Pearson qualifications, those boards publish their timetables openly, and the series a UAE family actually sits make the gap plain. Pearson's International GCSE November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, while the entry for it had to be with the centre long before the autumn term opened. Cambridge closes entries for its June and November series months ahead of the papers in the same way, on dates it publishes series by series. The February and March Cambridge sitting that surfaces in search results is offered to India only, so it is not a window a UAE candidate can plan an internal assessment around.

Online supervision against a visiting tutor for one draft

This is the comparison UAE families actually want, and it is the one the market avoids making in public. A draft is a file. The work of reading a file with a student is annotating it, asking questions about it and watching them rewrite it. Every part of that happens better on a shared screen than over a shoulder, because the student keeps the file, the changes are theirs, and the record of what was said stays inside the document rather than on a sheet of paper that goes missing before the teacher's read.

The costs are not comparable either. A visiting tutor in this market is quoted at AED 180 to AED 500 an hour, generally with a two-hour minimum, and the travel is inside that figure whether the journey from Jumeirah to Mirdif is taken at 4pm or 8pm. Online one-to-one is quoted at AED 150 to AED 450, billed in sixty-minute units, with no minimum driven by a car. For a family buying eight hours of supervision, that difference is normally four figures in AED across a term.

The decisive argument is not cost. It is who reads the draft. A family limited to people willing to drive to their community is choosing from whoever happens to live within a reasonable journey. A family working over video is choosing a specialist in the exact component, which for Music, Film, Global Politics or a Higher Level exploration with heavy modelling is often the difference between somebody who has supervised that component and somebody who has not. IB Gram delivers every UAE session live online for that reason; home visits are a service we run only in India.

Moderation, and four things you should not be paying for

  • A permit fee: the MoHRE private tuition work permit is issued free of charge for two years
  • Syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes: reference them and link to the board, never buy them from a tutor
  • Outcome promises on a moderated component: moderation is applied by somebody the family never meets
  • Any version of produced-for-you coursework, at any price, from any provider

The mark your child's teacher awards is not final. The IB moderates a sample from every school and can adjust the whole cohort's marks up or down to bring that school's judgement into line. This has two consequences a family paying for supervision should understand. The first is that buying a friendlier reader buys nothing, because the reader who matters is a moderator the family never meets. The second is that a draft which satisfies the published criteria in plain, checkable ways is more robust than a draft that charms, because moderation is a criteria exercise.

That makes the honest value proposition narrow and worth stating plainly: supervision helps by making the criteria legible to the student and the evidence visible to a stranger. No tutor is in a position to promise a grade, and anybody offering one on a moderated component is either confused about how moderation works or counting on you being so. Treat any outcome promise attached to coursework as a warning sign about the rest of the offer.

There are also charges in this market that should simply be refused. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and takes around two working days through MoHRE's own channels, so no provider should be passing a permit or licensing fee on to a family. Nobody should be charging for syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables, which belong to the boards and are not a provider's to sell. Nobody should be charging a premium for the same hour because a deadline is close. And nobody should be charging for work the student must produce themselves, because that purchase is not a service, it is an academic-honesty breach with the student carrying the consequence.

What the mark is worth after the Diploma: universities, the regulator and equivalency

Coursework marks matter beyond the subject grade because they feed the predicted grades on which UAE and overseas university applications are made, and because they arrive early enough to change those predictions. A student whose exploration lands at the top of criterion E in DP1 is in a different conversation with their counsellor from a student whose mark arrives in February of DP2. That is the clearest value argument for spending money early rather than late, and it is an argument about admissions rather than about marks.

For families planning to stay in the Emirates, the Ministry of Education equivalency process sits at the end of this. On the British track the published requirement is five accredited subjects at GCSE or IGCSE at no less than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count of five, plus one accredited Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. On the American track, English proficiency is evidenced by IELTS academic 5, TOEFL iBT 61 or 450 in SAT reading and writing, with at least 450 in SAT Math. We publish no IB points threshold for equivalency because the source we read does not state one. Check it on moe.gov.ae or with the attestation authority in your emirate, and treat equivalency as a process you complete rather than something any tutoring provider performs for you.

The regulator around all of this is the emirate's, not ours. KHDA oversees the quality of private education in Dubai, ADEK supervises licensing and accreditation in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, SPEA regulates Sharjah, the Department of Knowledge regulates Ras Al Khaimah, and the federal Ministry of Education supervises Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. KHDA also requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, which is why a Diploma timetable here carries subjects the IB does not set and why a UAE student's week is tighter than the programme on paper suggests. On cost context, KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under an economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion, so a tutoring budget in Dubai is being set against flat school fees for the first time in several years. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation or licence from any of these bodies and claims none.

Where we tutor

Where coursework deadlines land across the seven emirates

Internal assessment deadlines are set by the school, inside a window the IB fixes, which is why two families in the same emirate can be three weeks apart. Below is what the school calendar in each emirate does to the timing, and what that means for when hours are worth buying.

Dubai

Dubai had 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering 17 different curricula, with the International Baccalaureate accounting for 7% of enrolment. The scale is why IB internal assessment help in Dubai is the easiest match in the country, and why January draft week is also the hardest week to find an hour in.

Abu Dhabi

ADEK supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. Diploma coursework help in Abu Dhabi is shaped by longer commutes between Khalifa City, Saadiyat and Al Reem, which is precisely why evening video sessions here start on time when a car journey would not.

Sharjah

The Sharjah Private Education Authority regulates private education in the emirate and approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Sharjah's IB cohort is smaller than Dubai's, so a Diploma student needing a scarce component is almost always matched with somebody outside the emirate, over video.

Al Ain

Al Ain sits under ADEK alongside Abu Dhabi city. The smaller Diploma cohort means a school may run a single teacher per science subject, so a student wanting a second read on an investigation has nobody local to ask. That is the clearest case in the country for online supervision.

Ajman

The federal Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, alongside Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. Diploma provision here is limited, and families often commute to Sharjah or Dubai for school, which pushes any realistic session start past 6pm in Gulf Standard Time.

Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah's Department of Knowledge regulates private education in the emirate and, like Sharjah, approves curricula and assessment methods. RAK is one of three emirates that returned no mentions at all across the competitor pages we examined, which is a fair indication of how little local coursework support exists.

Fujairah

Fujairah sits under the federal Ministry of Education. The east-coast school day starts and ends early, so a Fujairah Diploma student can often take a 5pm slot that a Dubai student cannot, which occasionally makes a scarce specialist available to them first.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in the UAE

Dubai Diploma schools

These schools run the full Diploma and therefore set their own internal deadlines for every subject component. Students we support attend schools in this group; the pattern across them is a first full draft due in the weeks on either side of the winter break, with science investigations earlier than language orals.

  • Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills
  • GEMS World Academy Dubai
  • Deira International School
  • Uptown International School
  • Greenfield International School
  • Dwight School Dubai
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai

Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Diploma schools

Abu Dhabi Diploma cohorts are smaller per subject than Dubai's, which concentrates coursework pressure onto fewer teachers. Students we support attend schools in this group, and the recurring request here is a second read on a science investigation when the school has one teacher for the subject.

  • Cranleigh Abu Dhabi
  • Raha International School
  • GEMS World Academy Abu Dhabi
  • American Community School of Abu Dhabi
  • Al Yasmina Academy

Sharjah and the northern emirates

Diploma provision thins north of Dubai, so students here are the most likely in the country to be matched with a subject specialist outside their own emirate. Students we support attend schools in this group, and almost every one of those matches is delivered over video.

  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • The Sheffield Private School
  • RAK Academy

Named schools are context for the UAE Diploma landscape only; IB Gram claims no affiliation, partnership or endorsement from any school or school group listed here.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the subject, level and component

Three facts decide everything that follows: the subject, whether it is Higher or Standard Level, and which component is due. Add your school's draft deadline and, if you have it, the criteria sheet the teacher marks against. That is enough to say honestly whether an IB IA tutor for that pairing is free in the hour you want.

  2. 02

A specialist reads the brief before the call

The person who will take the session reads what you sent first, so the free trial is spent on the draft rather than on introductions. Where nothing has been written yet, they read the criteria and the research question instead. Either way the first conversation starts from your child's actual work.

  3. 03

A free trial session on the real draft

The trial is one session, at no charge, with no card required and nothing to cancel. It runs on the student's own file over a shared screen. Its purpose is diagnostic: to tell you whether this needs two hours or a rebuild, and whether this particular pairing of student and specialist works.

  4. 04

A block scoped backwards from the deadline

If you go ahead, the hours are scoped from your school's draft deadline rather than from a generic plan. Six to ten hours across a term for full supervision, one or two for a single read. The scope is written down, including what the sessions will not do, before anything is paid.

  5. 05

Written notes the teacher can see

Each session leaves notes that point at criteria rather than at sentences, written so your child can show them to their own subject teacher without awkwardness. Nothing is supplied that the student did not write. If a session finds nothing worth fixing, the notes say that too.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched by component, not by postcode

The variable that decides whether an hour is useful is whether the person reading the draft has supervised that exact component at that level. Because every UAE session runs over video, the pool is the whole network rather than whoever lives within a reasonable drive of your community.

Rates quoted against published figures

Every AED band on this page is attributed to a provider that published it or to Bestimate's Dubai 2026 rate table, read in October 2026, and is presented as the market rather than as our price. Three of the strongest pages competing for this search publish no figure at all.

The honesty line written down first

What a session will and will not do with a draft is agreed before the first hour, not discovered in it. Teaching, questioning and criteria feedback are unrestricted. Supplying text, methods or analysis is not on offer at any price, and the scope document says so in those words.

Built around a UAE school year

Sessions sit in Gulf Standard Time evenings, move to post-Iftar slots through Ramadan at the same rate, and pause for the school's own draft week and the mock season. Deadlines here cluster around the winter break, and a plan that ignores that is a plan for January.

Availability stated plainly, including when it is thin

For Music, Film, Global Politics and some Higher Level pairings, the pool in this region is genuinely small. When nobody is free for the hour you want we say so and set out the alternatives, rather than substituting a general Diploma tutor and letting you find out in week two.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in the UAE: your questions answered

How much does IB internal assessment help cost in the UAE, and what does the fee actually cover?+

Across this market, qualified online coursework support is advertised at roughly AED 150 to AED 300 an hour, specialists at AED 200 to AED 450, and named or examiner-experienced reviewers higher still, with one provider publishing AED 650. Those are other companies' figures, read in October 2026, not ours. What the hour should cover is a criteria-led read of your child's own draft, questions that make them find the flaw, and written notes naming the criteria not yet evidenced. It should never cover text, methods or analysis supplied on their behalf. Ask any provider to confirm, in writing, which of those two lists their fee buys.

Why is supervision sold as a block of hours rather than one session at a time?+

Because the work has stages that are weeks apart and each stage has a point past which money cannot help. A topic conversation at twelve weeks, a method clinic at ten, an analysis session at six and a criteria check at two are four different conversations with the same person, and the value comes from continuity between them. Buying them individually usually means buying them all late, from whoever is free. Even so, nobody should commit to a block before a diagnostic session. Buy one or two hours first, find out whether the draft needs a repair or a rebuild, and scope the block from that.

Does a Chemistry investigation absorb more paid time than a mathematical exploration?+

Usually, yes, and the reason is structural rather than about difficulty. The science investigation is a 3,000-word write-up of work the student has designed, run and evaluated, so the useful sessions sit before data collection as well as after it, which means at least two separate interventions weeks apart. A mathematical exploration is 20 marks and typically 12 to 20 pages, and its single highest-value session is the topic conversation, because criterion E asks whether the mathematics is at the level of the course. Six to ten hours is a realistic science figure. Three to six is realistic for an exploration caught early.

We left it until three weeks before the school deadline. Does that cost more?+

It costs more and buys less, which is the worst combination in this market. Demand across the Emirates peaks in the fortnight either side of school draft deadlines, so availability is thin and rates sit at the top of the band. More importantly, several criteria reward a process rather than a product. Personal engagement and reflection in the mathematical exploration, and research design in the sciences, are marks for decisions made weeks earlier. At three weeks a good session will protect what is there, tidy the criteria that are still open and stop the student making it worse. It cannot manufacture a process that did not happen.

What should the opening session on a draft actually deliver?+

A named verdict and a short list. By the end of the first hour you should know which criteria the draft currently evidences, which it does not, whether the research question is answerable within the ceiling, and whether this is a repair or a rebuild. You should also have written notes your child can take to their own subject teacher. What you should not have is a general discussion of the subject, a promise about a grade, or a recommendation to buy ten hours made before anybody has read the file. If the first session produces no list, do not buy the second.

Is an examiner-experienced reviewer worth the extra dirhams on a single component?+

Sometimes, and the test is specific. Somebody who has marked that component at that level reads a draft faster and names criteria more precisely, which can make one hour at AED 450 better value than three at AED 150. The caution is evidence: experience with a component is checkable, and current examiner status is not something a platform should assert on a tutor's behalf without it. Ask what they have marked and when, in which subject, at which level. If the answer is vague, you are paying a premium for a label rather than for the read, and the band below will serve you better.

Can we buy a single read of a finished draft instead of weekly sessions?+

Yes, and for many families it is the right purchase. One or two hours on an existing draft, on a shared screen, with written notes, is the cheapest useful intervention available and it is priced across this market at roughly AED 200 to AED 450 an hour. It works best before the student uses up the one formal feedback round their teacher normally gives, because it means they arrive at that round with a stronger draft. It works badly as a substitute for a method conversation that should have happened eight weeks earlier, since a read cannot fix a design.

Which criterion repays paid hours the most on a science investigation?+

Research design, and it has to be bought before any data exists. Of the 24 marks, research design is the criterion UAE students most often lose before collection starts, usually through a variable range too narrow to show a trend or a control that is named but not actually controlled. An hour spent interrogating the method at ten weeks protects marks in three criteria at once, because weak data limits the analysis and the conclusion as well. Evaluation is the second-best use of an hour, and it is the criterion where otherwise strong candidates still lose marks on uncertainty reasoning.

Our school marks the component and the IB moderates it. Does paying a tutor change that?+

It changes the draft, not the marking. The teacher awards the mark against published criteria and the IB moderates a sample from the school, adjusting the cohort where the school's judgement sits out of line. So the reader who ultimately matters is a moderator nobody in your household will meet. The practical consequence is that supervision is worth buying to make the criteria legible to your child and the evidence visible to a stranger, and worth nothing if it is bought in the hope of a sympathetic read. Any provider promising an outcome on a moderated component has that backwards.

My son is predicted a 6. Is coursework supervision still worth funding?+

Often it is the best-value hour available, for an admissions reason rather than a rescue reason. A component worth 20% to 30% of the grade is marked and known months before the examinations, so it feeds the predicted grades that UAE and overseas university applications are built on. A student sitting at the boundary between a 6 and a 7 frequently has a well-presented, under-mathematised exploration or an investigation that stops short on evaluation, and both are fixable with two or three well-aimed hours. Start with one diagnostic session; if the draft is already evidencing the top criteria, we will tell you to keep the money.

How do we spot a provider selling finished coursework rather than teaching?+

Three signals, all visible before you pay. The offer is priced per piece rather than per hour. The sales conversation asks for the task and the deadline but not for the student's current draft or the criteria sheet. And the scope is silent on what the provider will not do. At least one operation in this market advertises completed Diploma coursework at a published figure. Buying it is a malpractice matter for the candidate, not a quality complaint, and the consequence falls on your child rather than on the seller. Insist on a written scope that distinguishes teaching from authorship before any money moves.

Can one person cover the components for two different Diploma subjects?+

Occasionally, and it is worth asking, because continuity saves hours. Mathematics with Physics, or Biology with Chemistry, are pairings where one specialist can genuinely read both drafts well. Economics with History, or a science with a language oral, usually are not: the criteria are different enough that a competent reader in one is guessing in the other. Our habit is to match per component and tell you when one person honestly covers both, rather than bundling two subjects to make the booking tidier. Where two specialists are needed, the hours can still be scoped as one plan around a single deadline.

Does the price change if the topic has to be scrapped and started again?+

The hourly figure does not; the number of hours does, which is why the topic session is the cheapest thing in this process and the most valuable. A restart at ten weeks usually costs one extra hour and a difficult conversation. A restart at four weeks costs five or six hours and still caps personal engagement and reflection, because those criteria reward a process the student no longer has time to run. If a draft is heading for a restart, the honest answer is to say so in the first session rather than to sell hours that are salvaging the wrong question.

Where should AED 2,500 go if that is the whole coursework budget for the year?+

Against the market bands on this page, AED 2,500 buys roughly eight to ten hours of qualified online support, or five at specialist rates. The allocation that tends to work: one hour on the research question at twelve weeks out, two on method and feasibility before data collection, two on analysis once data exists, one on a full criteria read before the teacher's formal feedback, and the remainder held back for whatever that feedback exposes. Spending the same amount in the final fortnight buys the same hours at a worse moment, against criteria that have already closed.

Do Extended Essay and TOK sessions sit at the same rate as subject coursework hours?+

They sit in the same band and are scoped differently. The Extended Essay is 4,000 words marked out of 34 and already supervised by a school teacher, so outside hours are most useful on the research question and on the reflections, not on the prose. TOK is a 1,600-word prescribed-title essay plus an exhibition of around 950 words, and the common failure is an essay that discusses the title rather than argues a knowledge claim. Both are process coaching rather than content teaching, which means fewer hours than a science investigation and a different kind of specialist reading them.

What happens to booked hours during Ramadan and the school's draft week?+

They move, at the same rate. Through Ramadan sessions shift to post-Iftar slots in Gulf Standard Time, which in practice suits Diploma students better than a 5pm slot on a shortened school day. Draft week is different: that is the week your child should be writing rather than being taught, so we normally pause and bank the hour for the week after the teacher's feedback lands, when it is worth considerably more. Both changes are made by moving the booking, not by charging a rescheduling fee, and unused hours stay available for the term.

Start with one hour and a verdict, not a package

The useful first step on any Diploma component is small: one free trial session, on the draft that exists, with the criteria sheet open. At the end of it you will know which criteria the work currently evidences, whether the research question survives the ceiling, and whether this is two hours of repair or six of rebuilding. If the draft is already strong we will say so and you will spend nothing further. If it is not, the hours get scoped backwards from your school's own deadline and written down, including what the sessions will not touch. Send the subject, the level, the component and the deadline, and we will tell you honestly who is free.
