IB Tutor near me in Dubai Sports City

Searching for an IB tutor near me in Dubai Sports City usually means the calendar has started to press: a mock report, a coursework deadline, a term that has three weeks left in it. This page is organised around time rather than geography. IB Gram matches Sports City, Victory Heights and Motor City students with Diploma specialists who teach live online in Gulf Standard Time, and plans the block around what the next eight weeks can actually achieve.

  • Blocks planned backwards from the school's own deadlines
  • Live one-to-one online lessons in Gulf Standard Time
  • Written review at four sessions against a stated target

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Sports City

The search is about time, not distance

Nobody types 'near me' at the start of the school year. The phrase appears when something has already happened: a grade dropped in a report, a coursework deadline missed, a mock paper that came back worse than expected. The word 'near' is standing in for 'now'. Distance feels like the thing that will make help arrive quickly, and for a visiting tutor in Dubai Sports City it genuinely is.

Once lessons are delivered online, distance stops being the constraint and the calendar becomes the only real one. The question that decides whether a block works is how many weeks are left before the thing that matters, and what can honestly be achieved in them. Eight weeks will move a paper technique. Eight weeks will not rebuild two years of absent algebra. Both statements are useful; only one of them gets said by most providers.

IB Gram delivers all UAE tuition live, one to one and online over video in Gulf Standard Time. No tutor is sent to a Sports City address, and in-home visiting is a service offered only in India. What that means for a family in a hurry is that matching takes hours rather than days, because the pool is not restricted to people who can reach Victory Heights by six o'clock on a Tuesday.

It also changes what the first session is for. A diagnostic built around the calendar asks three questions: what is the next fixed date, what has to be true by then, and what is the gap. The answer produces a block with a measurable target — a Paper 1 score, an Internal Assessment criterion, a topic rebuilt — rather than an open-ended weekly hour that drifts to the end of term.

Dubai's Diploma students sit the May session, and the school's own internal deadlines are the dates that bind in practice. Because IB session and results dates could not be verified from the IB directly, this page does not publish any, and recommends confirming every one with the school's Diploma coordinator. Cambridge and Pearson dates, which many Sports City households are also working to, are sourced and stated below.

The rest of the page is a calendar: the Diploma year in phases, what each term is for, what eight weeks can achieve, where Ramadan and summer sit, and what the market charges when you buy tutoring by the term rather than by the hour. If you read one section, read the one on the fortnight after mocks. It contains the only free diagnostic a family gets all year, it needs no tutor to carry out, and almost nobody in Sports City does it, which is why the same marks get lost twice in the same subject within a single academic year.

At a glance

  • Matching takes hours because the tutor pool is not limited by drive time
  • Every block carries a target tied to the next fixed date on the school calendar
  • Eight weeks moves technique; absent foundations need two terms
  • Lessons are live online in Gulf Standard Time; no UAE home visits
  • Confirm all IB dates with your school's Diploma coordinator
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The calendar differs sharply by programme, and so does the point at which tutoring is worth starting. These are the three stages that generate requests from Sports City families, described by their own timetable pressure.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Two years, six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. The calendar pressure is uneven: the first year looks spacious and the second year has internal coursework deadlines, mock examinations and written papers stacked into roughly six months. Students who use the first year badly meet all of it at once.

Dubai Diploma students sit the May session, so the second-year pressure lands between the winter break and the spring. Sports City families typically enquire in the fortnight after mock results, which is late but workable. Enquiring before the mocks, with the mock itself as the target, is the version that produces a better number.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Five years assessed against four criteria per subject, each marked out of 8 and converted by published boundaries. Deadlines are internal and continuous rather than concentrated, which makes drift easy and invisible. A student can hold a mid-range grade for two years while one criterion is never addressed.

The useful calendar moment here is the end of MYP 4, when there is still a full year to rebuild foundations before either IGCSE or the Diploma begins. Families in the Dubailand communities tend to act at the end of MYP 5 instead, which turns a rebuild into a bridge.

DP COREAges 16-19 · across both DP years

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

The exhibition, the prescribed-title essay and the 4,000-word Extended Essay, together worth up to three diploma points. All three are governed by school-set internal deadlines rather than by the examination window, and all three are routinely left until the term they are due.

In Dubai schools these deadlines usually sit before the mock window, which means the collision families complain about every spring is predictable in September. Blocking out the Extended Essay supervision meetings and the internal submission dates on a single calendar is the cheapest intervention available.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Requests from Sports City arrive in a seasonal pattern, and the subject usually tells you which part of the calendar the family is in. These are the Diploma courses asked for most, with the time pressure each one carries.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Enquiries peak twice: early in the first year when algebraic demand bites, and after mocks when Paper 1 scores come back. HL adds Paper 3, which almost nobody has sat to time before the mock. The exploration deadline usually sits in the middle of the second year.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Requests cluster around the exploration, because modelling work needs data and data collection fails at least once. Starting the exploration a term early is the difference between a second attempt and a submission that does not fit the criteria.

Physics

HL and SL

Demand concentrates after the first full Paper 2 under timed conditions, usually late in the first year. The scientific investigation is the other pressure point, and its data collection has to happen while laboratory access is still available.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic chemistry and equilibrium arrive late in the course, which is why Chemistry enquiries bunch in the second year. Students who have not revisited stoichiometry since the first term find that it underlies most of what they are now failing.

Biology

HL and SL

The content volume makes this a subject where late starts are survivable but expensive. Data-response technique can be taught in weeks; recalling the physiology of three systems cannot. The practical investigation is the deadline that drives spring enquiries.

Economics

HL and SL

The commentary portfolio is built from published articles over months, so the calendar matters more here than almost anywhere. A portfolio assembled in the final fortnight reads like one, and the criteria are written in a way that exposes it.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The Individual Oral has a fixed school date and is the component students prepare last. Paper 1 unseen analysis improves fastest with weekly timed practice, which makes it a good candidate for a short block in the term before mocks.

Business Management

HL and SL

Case-study analysis responds quickly to technique work, so an eight-week block before mocks is often enough. The internally assessed project is the slow component and needs a research question agreed in the first half of the second year.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

Two fixed internal deadlines, both ignored until they are close. Choosing a prescribed title that can actually be argued takes one session and saves a month. Students who leave the essay to the final weeks lose points that affect a university offer.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Each format below is defined by how much time is left rather than by how much a family wants to spend. All three are delivered live online, one to one.

Two-term rebuild

Weekly sessions across the back half of the first Diploma year and into the second, aimed at absent foundations rather than technique. The only format that genuinely fixes a gap carried forward from MYP or IGCSE, and the one families most often skip because the problem looks smaller in the first year.

  • Topic-by-topic rebuild against the syllabus content list
  • Reviewed each half-term against school assessment marks
  • Explicitly not an exam-technique block

Eight-week targeted block

The standard response to a mock result or a coursework deadline. One subject, one named target, eight sessions, reviewed at four. Enough time to change a paper technique, a timing strategy or an Internal Assessment criterion. Not enough time to teach a year of content, and sold on that basis.

  • A single measurable target agreed in session one
  • Weekly past-paper work marked against the published scheme
  • Written review at session four with a continue-or-change decision

Pre-paper triage

Two or three sessions a week in the final weeks, spent entirely on full timed papers and immediate mark-scheme review. The work is deciding which marks are recoverable in the time available and drilling only those. Content the student will not reach is left alone on purpose.

  • Full papers under exam conditions, marked line by line
  • Question-order and time-allocation strategy per paper
  • Deliberate decisions about what not to revise

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Sports City

01

What 'near me' means when the lesson arrives over video

  • Online matching removes the drive-time variable, so blocks start sooner
  • A specialist can usually be proposed within a day of the enquiry
  • Four days versus three weeks changes the ceiling of the whole block
  • Where no specialist is free, you are told rather than substituted

A parent searching for an IB tutor near me in Dubai Sports City is asking for help that can start quickly and fit around a school week. IB Gram answers that with live one-to-one online lessons in Gulf Standard Time rather than with a visitor to a Sports City address. In-home visiting is a service offered only in India, and no UAE page here promises otherwise.

The irony of the phrase is that proximity slows things down. A visiting tutor has to be available in the right corridor on the right evening, which is a two-variable problem that often takes a week to solve and breaks the first time a fixture moves. Matching online removes one variable entirely, so a specialist for a named course and level can usually be proposed within a day, with the trial lesson in the same week.

Speed is worth more than it sounds in this context, because the searches happen at bad moments in the calendar. A family that finds a tutor in four days after mock results has eight working weeks before the spring; one that takes three weeks has five. The second block is a different piece of work with a lower ceiling, and most of the difference was spent waiting.

What does not change is the honesty about availability. Specialist supply in Higher Level Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics tightens across every Dubai cohort at the same point in the year. Where nobody suitable is free, the answer is a stated wait or a referral elsewhere, because putting a general tutor into an eight-week exam block spends the one resource that cannot be replaced.

02

The Diploma year in four phases

A Diploma year is not a uniform stretch of time. It has four phases with different jobs, and knowing which phase a student is in tells you what tutoring should be doing. Treating September like March is the most common planning error in Sports City households, and it works in both directions: wasted months early and panic later.

Phase one, from the start of the academic year to the winter break, is for content and foundations. This is the only phase in which a genuine gap can be rebuilt without borrowing time from something else. Phase two, from January to the mock window, is for technique and for finishing internally assessed work. Phase three is the mocks themselves and the fortnight of review afterwards, which is the most information-dense part of the year.

Phase four is the run to the written papers, and the correct posture there is triage. Decisions about what not to revise are more valuable than extra hours, because the marks a student can still reach are a subset of the syllabus and the subset shrinks weekly. A plan that still aims at full coverage in the last six weeks will leave the recoverable marks undrilled.

The table below sets the phases against what should be finished by the end of each. It is deliberately written as a checklist rather than as advice, because the only useful version of this is one a parent can hold against their own child's position in November.

03

What eight weeks can honestly achieve

  • Movable in eight weeks: paper technique, command terms, timing, two or three topics
  • Not movable in eight weeks: absent foundations, a full year of content
  • Mechanical mark losses are the fastest return available
  • Coursework criteria are high-yield because almost nobody has read them
  • Target stated in session one, measured in session four

Eight weeks is the length most families ask about, usually because that is what sits between a mock result and the next fixed date. It is a real unit of work and it has a real ceiling. Within eight weekly sessions a student can change how they approach a paper, learn the command terms that recur in their courses, fix presentation habits that cost one or two marks per question, and rebuild two or three specific topics properly.

What eight weeks cannot do is teach a year of content, convert a Standard Level student into a Higher Level one, or repair algebraic foundations that were never laid. Providers who accept an eight-week booking for that work are selling hope. The honest version is to say what the block will target, say what it will leave untouched, and set the target in a form that can be measured at session four.

The arithmetic of marks matters here. Across six Diploma subjects, a habit that loses one mark per question costs more than a topic nobody understands. Units dropped before substitution, working held in a calculator instead of written down, an 'evaluate' question answered with a balanced list and no judgement — those are mechanical, teachable and fast. Content gaps are slow. A block with eight weeks should spend six of them on the fast category.

The exception is coursework. An Internal Assessment can move a long way in eight weeks, because the criteria are published, the mark ceilings are known, and most students have never read either. Teaching the criteria, having the student self-mark their own draft against them, and giving feedback on what they wrote is high-yield work. The tutor does not write, complete or produce any part of the submission; that boundary is an IB rule and breaking it is a malpractice finding against the student.

04

Cambridge and Pearson dates a Dubai family can rely on

Many Sports City households are running an IGCSE student and a Diploma student at the same time, which means two calendars. The Cambridge and Pearson dates are published and verifiable, so they can be stated here. Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October.

The February/March series is offered to India only. A UAE candidate plans around June, with November as the resit route, and advice found online that references a February window is written for a different country. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, states that using the correct zone timetable is essential, and says it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after working from the wrong version.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. For the most recently completed cycles, the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables before each series, so a school should always work from the live official timetable rather than a restated date.

For the Diploma itself, this page publishes no dates. IB session and results dates could not be verified from the IB directly, and a wrong date on a page a parent acts on is worse than no date at all. Dubai Diploma students sit the May session; everything else — the exact window, the results day, the review-of-marking deadline — should be confirmed with the school's Diploma coordinator and against the IB's own site.

What a term of tutoring costs, by the term rather than the hour

Hourly rates are the wrong unit for a calendar-led decision, because what a family commits to is a block. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai table gives monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions: roughly AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Over a three-month term those become AED 720 to 1,800, AED 1,800 to 3,600 and AED 3,000 to 6,000 or more respectively.

The hourly bands behind them are published too. Tutopiya advertises from AED 33 to 52 an hour and EdFlik from AED 45 to 65 at the university-student end. Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. TutorChase quotes AED 270, and Bestimate puts specialist rates at AED 200 to 450 and beyond, with BartyED at AED 650 for premium named tutors. In-home visiting is quoted at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate and AED 200 to 500 by independent tutors once travel is counted.

Packages advertised in this market include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home visits. All of these are figures published by the providers named and read in October 2026. None is IB Gram's price list, and the reason for printing them is that most pages competing for this search publish no price at all.

The calendar reading is the useful one. A two-term rebuild bought at the mid band costs more in total than an eight-week specialist block but less per week, and it is the only version that fixes foundations. A pre-paper triage block is expensive per week and cheap in total because it is short. The error families make is paying mid-band rates for three terms of unmeasured weekly support, which costs the same as a rebuild and achieves what a triage block would have.

Ramadan, summer and the three windows families waste

  • Ramadan: move the slot after Iftar and use it for coursework process work
  • Summer between DP1 and DP2: six sessions on known gaps, cheaply
  • The fortnight after mocks: the richest diagnostic data of the year
  • The final fortnight: triage only, and expectations set accordingly

Three parts of the Dubai academic year are routinely written off and should not be. The first is Ramadan. School days shorten and afternoon concentration drops, so the instinct is to pause. For Diploma students a session placed after Iftar generally produces more work than the same hour at four o'clock, and because lessons are online the slot can move without any journey being rearranged. Coursework process work suits the period better than timed papers.

The second is the long summer between the two Diploma years. It is the single largest block of uncommitted time a student will have, and it sits precisely at the point where first-year gaps are still cheap to fix. Six sessions across July and August, aimed at the two topics a student knows they never understood, removes a problem that would otherwise surface in a February mock.

The third is the fortnight immediately after mocks, which families spend being upset about the grades. That fortnight contains more diagnostic information than any other point in the year: a full set of papers, marked, with the student's own errors visible. Sorting those errors by cause rather than by subject produces the plan for the rest of the year. Left unexamined, the papers go in a drawer and the same marks are lost again in the spring.

Set against those three, the periods families do protect — the weeks immediately before a school assessment, the final fortnight before the papers — are the least movable. By then the work is triage. Spending the recoverable time earlier is the whole of good calendar planning, and it is why the first conversation here is about dates rather than about hours.

07

Mock season, and the review nobody does

Mocks exist to generate information, and most of that information is thrown away. A student receives six grades, a parent receives a report, and the papers themselves — which contain the actual evidence — go unread. The review that matters takes about ninety minutes per subject and produces a list of lost marks sorted by cause rather than by topic.

The categories are consistent across subjects. Content not known. Content known but not retrieved under time pressure. Command term misread, so a correct piece of knowledge answered the wrong question. Working not shown, so method marks were unavailable. Arithmetic, units or significant figures. Question not attempted because time ran out. Each category has a different remedy, and three of the six are faster to fix than any of them look.

Done properly, that review changes what the next block does. A student losing most marks to timing does not need more content; they need three papers sat to time with a stopwatch and a decision about question order. A student losing marks to command terms needs fifteen definitions and four weeks of applying them. A student with genuinely absent content needs a rebuild, and if there are eight weeks left, needs to be told which parts of the syllabus will be sacrificed.

This is the one piece of work that Sports City families can do themselves without paying anybody. Take the marked papers, sit with the student, and sort the lost marks into those six categories. If the biggest category is not content, the next block is a technique block, and it will be cheaper and faster than the one most providers would have proposed.

08

KHDA, mandatory subjects and the hours that are actually free

Dubai's private schools are overseen by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, described by u.ae as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Elsewhere the regulator differs: ADEK in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the Sharjah Private Education Authority in Sharjah, the Department of Knowledge in Ras Al Khaimah, and the federal Ministry of Education in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. A Sports City family reading an inspection report is reading a KHDA document.

KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, with requirements to be implemented from the start of the 2025-26 academic year. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, schools may vary lesson length provided total weekly time is met, and it is advised that any mandatory-subject lesson runs at least 25 minutes. Separate classes are required for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and combined classes are prohibited.

For calendar planning that is not a footnote. A Diploma student in Sports City carries more timetabled subjects than the six on the IB transcript, so the free hours in a week are fewer than a revision plan drawn from the IB subject list assumes. Plans that allocate study time per subject without accounting for the mandatory subjects run short by several hours a week, and the shortfall is absorbed by whichever subject the student enjoys least.

The wider context is worth one line. Dubai had 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25 across 17 curricula; seven new private schools arrive for 2026-27 creating 16,846 places, after six opened in 2025-26 with enrolment up 6%, and KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that fees would not rise for 2026-27. Against school fees at that scale, a well-timed eight-week block is a small cost. A badly timed year of weekly sessions is not.

Where we tutor

How the calendar looks from each community

Sports City sits in the Dubailand belt, and the communities around it run slightly different weekly rhythms. Those differences decide when a session can be booked and how resilient a block is to a busy term.

Dubai Sports City

Schools inside the master plan mean short journeys and the earliest workable slot in this belt. A 4pm start holds here through most of the year, which matters when a block has only eight weeks to run.

Motor City

Sport and swim training run into the early evening on weekdays, so blocks booked for 4pm here lose sessions. Weekend morning slots survive a fixture season better than weekday ones.

Victory Heights

Secondary students commute out to Al Barsha and Jumeirah, arriving home late. A five o'clock start is realistic; anything earlier gets missed in the second half of term when traffic worsens.

Arabian Ranches

Established school cluster with heavier second-year Diploma demand. Families here tend to enquire before mocks rather than after, which is why their eight-week blocks produce more visible movement.

DAMAC Hills

Longer bus journeys push start times towards 5.30pm. For exam-year students the saved travel is often the only way a third weekly session fits into the week at all.

Town Square and Mudon

Younger cohorts and heavier Middle Years demand. The valuable calendar moment here is the end of MYP 4, a full year before either IGCSE or Diploma content begins.

Remraam and Dubailand Residence

Commutes approaching an hour each way leave a narrow evening window. Blocks are built around two sessions a week rather than three, with longer homework tasks across the weekend.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai Sports City

Sports City, Motor City and Victory Heights

The schools whose internal calendars most Sports City enquiries are built around. Mock windows and coursework deadlines differ between them by several weeks, so a block has to be planned against the student's own school rather than a general Dubai timetable.

  • GEMS United School, Dubai Sports City
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City

Arabian Ranches, DAMAC Hills and wider Dubailand

Secondary destinations for many Sports City students, with Diploma cohorts small enough that one subject can have four candidates. That scarcity is why booking a specialist before the mock window rather than after it changes the outcome.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Name the next fixed date

The enquiry that works names the course, the level and the next immovable date: a mock window, a coursework deadline, the written papers. That single piece of information decides whether the right answer is a rebuild, an eight-week block or triage, and it is the question most providers never ask.

  2. 02

Trial lesson used as a diagnostic

A full online session with the proposed specialist, spent on the student's most recent marked paper. Lost marks are sorted by cause, and the session ends with a target that can be measured. Parents receive it in writing. No card is required and there is no obligation to continue afterwards.

  3. 03

Agree the target and the omissions

The block is defined by what it will move and by what it will deliberately leave alone. Stating the omissions is the part that makes the plan honest, particularly inside eight weeks, and it prevents the slow drift towards covering everything badly rather than something well.

  4. 04

    Weekly sessions against the calendar

Work is sequenced backwards from the fixed date rather than forwards from today, with past-paper tasks set and marked against the published scheme before the next session. The note home records what was covered, what was set and how far the target has moved.

  5. 05

    Review at four sessions

Halfway through an eight-week block the target is measured. If it has not moved, the honest options are a different diagnosis, a different tutor or a different frequency. Making that decision at week four rather than week eight is the difference between one wasted month and two.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Planned backwards from your school's dates

Mock windows and internal coursework deadlines differ by several weeks between schools in the same community. A block built against a general Dubai calendar misses them. The plan here starts from the student's own school dates, which is why the first enquiry question is about the next fixed deadline.

Honest about what a block can do

Eight weeks moves technique, timing and two or three topics. It does not rebuild absent foundations, and saying so costs a booking occasionally. The alternative is taking the money for work that cannot succeed in the time, which is the most common quiet failure in this market.

Fast matching because distance is irrelevant

A specialist for a named course and level can usually be proposed within a day, with a trial lesson in the same week. For a family searching after mock results, the days spent waiting come directly off the length of the block, and that is the part proximity was supposed to solve.

Board dates sourced, IB dates deferred

Cambridge's June and November series and Pearson's May/June and November windows are stated from the boards' own pages. No IB session or results date appears here, because none could be verified from the IB directly, and a wrong date a parent plans around does real damage.

A firm boundary on assessed work

Tutors teach criteria, question method and give feedback on the student's own drafts. They do not write, complete or produce any part of an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or TOK essay. Work a student did not produce is a malpractice finding against the student, whatever the deadline pressure.

Delivery and limits on the page

Lessons for UAE families are live, one-to-one and online in Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram sends no tutor to a home in Dubai or elsewhere in the UAE, holds no regulator or board accreditation, and claims none. Where no specialist is free, you are told rather than matched to a substitute.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Sports City: your questions answered

Is there an IB tutor near Dubai Sports City who can start this week?+

Usually yes, and faster than a visiting tutor could. Because lessons are delivered live online, matching does not depend on who is free within a drive of Sports City on a particular evening, so a specialist for a named course and level can normally be proposed within a day and a trial lesson held in the same week. The honest exception is Higher Level Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the second Diploma year, when demand across every Dubai cohort peaks at once and a short wait is sometimes unavoidable.

My child's mocks were three weeks ago. Is it too late to act on them?+

No, but the papers have to come out of the drawer. The review that matters takes about ninety minutes per subject: sit with the marked scripts and sort every lost mark by cause rather than by topic. Content not known, content not retrieved under time, command term misread, working not shown, arithmetic and units, question not attempted. If the largest category is not content, the next block is a technique block, which is faster and cheaper than the content block most providers would propose.

How long before the May session should a Diploma student start tutoring?+

If the problem is foundations, the back half of the first Diploma year, because that is the last point at which a rebuild does not borrow time from something else. If the problem is technique or timing, eight weeks before the target date is enough. If there are fewer than six weeks, the work becomes triage: decide which marks are recoverable, drill those, and accept explicit omissions. Each of those is a different block, and treating them as the same thing is the usual planning mistake.

What should a Sports City student do over the summer between DP1 and DP2?+

Fix the two topics they already know they never understood. The summer is the largest block of uncommitted time in the two years and it sits exactly where first-year gaps are still cheap to close. Six sessions across July and August, aimed at specific named topics rather than general revision, removes a problem that otherwise reappears in a February mock. Students who instead use the summer to read ahead usually arrive in the second year with the same gap plus more content on top.

Can tutoring continue through Ramadan in Dubai?+

Yes, and the timing usually improves rather than worsens. School days shorten and late-afternoon concentration drops, so a session placed after Iftar produces more work than the same hour at four o'clock. Because lessons are online, moving a slot requires no journey rearranged on either side. The period suits coursework process work and criterion review better than full timed papers, which is a reason to schedule the timed work either side of it rather than pausing entirely.

Which exam series do Cambridge candidates in the UAE actually sit?+

June and November. Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in those two series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. The February/March series is offered to India only, so a UAE family reading advice that references a February window is reading guidance for a different country. Cambridge also allocates each centre to one of six administrative zones and states that using the correct zone timetable is essential.

What does an eight-week block actually cost in Dubai?+

Using Bestimate's published monthly estimates for weekly hour-long sessions, two months at the mid band of AED 600 to 1,200 a month is roughly AED 1,200 to 2,400, and at the specialist exam-year band of AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more it is roughly AED 2,000 to 4,000. Those are market figures from a published rate table read in October 2026, not IB Gram's prices. Hourly bands behind them run from AED 33 to 65 at the university-student end up to AED 650 for premium named tutors.

How do I know whether to book one session a week or three?+

By how many weeks are left and what the target is. One a week suits a rebuild across two terms, because the limiting factor is how much a student can absorb rather than how much teaching is available. Two or three a week suits the final weeks, when the work is timed papers and immediate mark-scheme review and the limiting factor is how many papers can be sat and marked. Three a week for a foundations rebuild usually produces unmarked homework and no extra progress.

Will a tutor work to my child's school deadlines or to the exam board's?+

To the school's, because those are the dates that bind first. Internal coursework deadlines, the mock window and the Individual Oral date are all set by the school and usually sit well before the examination series. Schools in neighbouring Dubailand communities differ by several weeks on all three, so a block planned against a general Dubai calendar will miss them. The first thing asked in an enquiry is the next fixed date on the student's own school calendar.

Can a tutor help my child finish an Internal Assessment that is nearly due?+

A tutor can teach the assessment criteria, explain the mark ceiling on each, question the research design, discuss whether the data supports the conclusion and give feedback on what the student has already written. A tutor cannot write, complete or produce any part of it, however close the deadline. That is an IB academic-honesty rule, and work a student did not produce becomes a malpractice finding against the student rather than against whoever supplied it.

Does the school report tell me enough to plan a block?+

Rarely. A report gives a grade and a comment, and neither says which component produced the grade or which category the lost marks fell into. The marked paper does. A student can hold a 5 in a subject with strong coursework and weak timed papers, or the reverse, and the two situations need opposite blocks. Sending the most recent marked assessment rather than the report is the single most useful thing a parent can do when enquiring.

What happens at the four-session review?+

The target agreed in session one is measured, in writing. If it has moved, the block continues to its end. If it has not, there are three honest answers — the diagnosis was wrong, the tutor is not the right match, or the frequency is too low — and all three are changeable at no cost. Making that call at week four rather than week eight halves the time lost. Families who never review a block are the ones who pay for a term of no movement.

Are Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay worth spending sessions on?+

Yes, because together they carry up to three diploma points and both are governed by fixed internal deadlines that students leave late. The highest-return work is early and structural: choosing a prescribed title that can actually be argued, and settling a research question with a supervisor while there is still time to change it. That takes one or two sessions. Leaving both to the term they are due is how students lose points that affect a university offer.

Why does the number of timetabled subjects matter for a revision plan?+

Because a Dubai Diploma student is not studying six subjects. KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, with instructional time calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. A revision plan built from the six IB subjects therefore assumes free hours that do not exist, and the shortfall lands on whichever subject the student likes least. Counting the real timetable first makes the plan survivable.

Tell us the next date, not the postcode

If you are searching for an IB tutor near me in Dubai Sports City, the message that gets a useful answer names the course, the level and the next fixed date on your child's school calendar. From those three things it is possible to say which kind of block makes sense, what it can realistically move, and what it will have to leave alone. The trial lesson is a full teaching session with the proposed specialist, delivered live online in Gulf Standard Time, and it ends with a written target rather than a quote.
