IB Physics Tutor in Sobha Hartland

An IB Physics tutor in Sobha Hartland costs somewhere between AED 150 and AED 650 an hour depending on who you ask, and the spread tells you almost nothing about the teaching. This page prices the market honestly, shows what each band actually buys a Diploma Physics student living between the Ras Al Khor creek and Al Khail Road, and names the three places Sobha Hartland parents most often spend money that changes no grade. Lessons are one-to-one and live online, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Sobha Hartland

What you are actually buying when you pay for Physics help

Start with the number, because that is what you came for. Private tuition in Dubai is quoted anywhere from AED 45 an hour to AED 650 an hour, and IB Diploma Physics sits in the upper half of that range for a reason that has nothing to do with marketing. Physics is one of the few DP subjects where a tutor has to hold three separate competences at once: the mathematics of the topic, the physical reasoning the examiner is testing, and the command-term discipline that decides whether a correct idea scores. A tutor who has only the first of those is cheap and often useless. A tutor who has all three is not cheap, and the honest version of this page is that you should expect to pay for the third one.

Sobha Hartland is a small, dense, recently built community on the Dubai Creek side of Ras Al Khor, with two substantial international schools inside the masterplan itself and a short drive to several more along Al Khail Road and into Meydan. That geography changes the economics of tutoring more than most parents realise. A neighbourhood with two schools has a shallow local pool of Physics specialists. The subject is already thin on the ground: a school with one DP Physics teacher has no spare capacity for paid support, and ADEK's professional-ethics rules for Abu Dhabi staff plus the conduct code attached to the MoHRE private tuition permit both point the same way on tutoring your own school's students. So the local market for Sobha Hartland Physics is small, which pushes travel-inclusive rates up, and the tutors who do travel are chosen for proximity rather than for knowing Topic D inside out.

That is the whole argument for delivering this subject online, and it is an argument about money rather than convenience. When a family in Sobha Hartland hires on a map radius, they are paying a premium between roughly AED 180 and AED 500 an hour, per Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table and the published in-home ranges, for a tutor selected from however many qualified Physics teachers happen to live within a twenty-minute drive. When the same family hires online, the travel component disappears from the invoice and the selection pool becomes every Physics specialist available in a Gulf Standard Time evening slot. You pay for teaching rather than for a car.

There is a second cost that never appears on an invoice and is usually larger. A Diploma Physics student who spends a term being re-taught content they already understand loses that term. The Internal Assessment is 20% of the grade at both levels and has a hard internal deadline set by the school, not by the IB. A tutor who starts the IA conversation in the final weeks is charging full rate for damage limitation. Sequencing is where the real money is made or lost, and it is the one thing an hourly rate tells you nothing about.

So the structure of this page is a price list first, then the syllabus the price is supposed to cover, then the three expenditures we think Sobha Hartland families should stop making. Every AED figure is the market's, attributed to whoever published it, with the date. IB Gram does not publish a rate card on these pages; a free trial lesson and a consultation are how you find out what a specific tutor and a specific schedule cost.

At a glance

  • Market online rates for qualified subject tutors run AED 150-300 an hour; Unitors publishes IB from AED 200
  • In-home visits carry a travel premium: Bestimate AED 180-350, independent home tutors AED 200-500
  • The Physics IA is 20% of the grade at HL and SL and is deadline-driven by your child's school
  • Paper 3 is 24% of the SL grade and 24% of the HL grade, and is the paper most students prepare last
  • A free trial lesson comes before any payment, so the first hour costs nothing to evaluate
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Sobha Hartland students reach Diploma Physics by two different routes, and a third group is still two or three years away from it. The programme notes below describe what each stage actually demands of a Physics student in this part of Dubai, rather than restating the IB's own brochure copy.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme Physics

Two years, taken at Standard Level over roughly 150 teaching hours or Higher Level over roughly 240. The assessed structure is Paper 1 (multiple choice plus data analysis), Paper 2 (extended response) and Paper 3, plus the scientific investigation worth 20%. The HL course adds depth across every theme rather than bolting on separate options, which is why a student who copes at SL can still be surprised by HL Paper 2. Command terms carry the marks: explain, deduce, determine and outline each want a different shape of answer.

Both schools inside the Sobha Hartland masterplan run Diploma Physics, and families here also travel to DP Physics at schools in Al Jaddaf, Nad Al Sheba and Al Garhoud. In Dubai, KHDA inspects these schools annually and publishes a report; the subject-level detail in it is thinner than most parents expect, so a school's overall band is a weak proxy for its Physics department.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme Sciences

Five years of integrated sciences assessed against four criteria: knowing and understanding, inquiring and designing, processing and evaluating, and reflecting on the impacts of science. MYP marks are criterion levels out of 8, not percentages, which is the single most common source of confusion in this age group. For a future Physics student the criterion that matters most is processing and evaluating, because it is the direct ancestor of the DP scientific investigation and the place where weak uncertainty handling first shows up.

Sobha Hartland's MYP cohort sits alongside KHDA's mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies requirement, which applies in every Dubai private school regardless of the licensed curriculum. That is real timetable pressure on a Year 10 student, and it is why science support for this age group in this neighbourhood usually has to fit a single weekday evening rather than spreading across the week.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE Physics as the DP entry route

Cambridge Physics 0625 or Pearson Edexcel 4PH1, sat at 16, is how most Sobha Hartland students arrive at Diploma Physics. The Extended tier of 0625 covers the algebraic treatment that DP assumes; the Core tier does not. A student entering DP Physics HL from Core has a genuine gap in kinematics algebra and electrical circuit analysis, and it is better closed in the summer before DP1 than discovered in October.

UAE candidates sit Cambridge in the June and November series. The February-March series is an India-only offering and does not apply to a student in Dubai. For MoE equivalency on the British track, a student needs five accredited IGCSE or GCSE subjects at no less than grade E or 3, with Arabic and Islamic Education excluded from that count of five.

PRE-DPAges 15-16 · The summer before DP1

Pre-Diploma bridging in Physics

A short, defined block of work rather than an open-ended commitment: vector resolution, rearranging multi-variable equations, graph gradients with units, and the difference between a random and a systematic error. Six to ten sessions covers it for most students. This is the cheapest useful money in the whole Physics pathway because it prevents the slow, expensive version of the same remediation spread across DP1.

Sobha Hartland families are often mid-relocation in that summer window, which is exactly when an online block works and a home visit does not. Sessions continue from a rented apartment in Business Bay, a hotel in Downtown, or a grandparent's house abroad, because nothing in the arrangement depends on a car reaching a specific villa.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Physics is the page, but almost no Sobha Hartland family buys one subject in isolation. The Diploma is six subjects and three core components sat together, and the realistic question is which combination to support. These are the subjects most often paired with Physics by students in this part of Dubai.

Physics

HL and SL

The subject of this page. Marks are lost in three predictable places: unit and significant-figure discipline in Paper 1 data questions, command-term mismatch in Paper 2 extended response, and uncertainty propagation in the investigation. All three are teachable in a fixed number of sessions rather than being a matter of aptitude.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The default pairing with Physics HL, and for good reason. Calculus fluency in AA HL feeds directly into the modelling and rate-of-change reasoning that Physics HL assumes. A student taking Physics HL with Maths AI SL is not doomed, but needs the algebraic manipulation covered explicitly.

Chemistry

HL and SL

The second science for most Sobha Hartland students aiming at engineering or medicine. Energetics and the mole concept carry arithmetic habits that transfer to Physics; organic mechanisms do not. The two IAs land in overlapping windows, which is a scheduling problem worth planning around in DP1.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Chosen by students whose university route does not demand AA. The statistical content is genuinely useful for the Physics investigation, particularly in choosing a sensible treatment of repeated measurements, but the algebra ceiling is lower and needs supplementing for Physics HL.

Biology

HL and SL

Common as the third science or as a Physics alternative for medicine applicants. The shared skill with Physics is the scientific investigation: the same criteria, the same uncertainty expectations, and the same habit of writing a conclusion that ignores the error bars just computed.

Computer Science

HL and SL

A rising pairing with Physics in Dubai, driven by engineering and data-science ambitions. The internal assessment is a solution to a client's problem, a very different animal from a Physics investigation, and students taking both frequently misjudge the time the CS product consumes.

Design Technology

HL and SL

Offered by fewer Dubai schools but a natural fit for Physics students. The design cycle shares its testing-and-iteration logic with experimental physics; the trap is a project whose engineering is sound but whose data collection would not satisfy a Physics examiner.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Not a science, but it is where Physics students most often lose aggregate points. The Paper 1 guided analysis rewards a structural argument rather than content recall, which is an unfamiliar mode for a student whose other subjects reward precision of fact.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

The TOK essay and exhibition are assessed and contribute to the bonus points alongside the Extended Essay. Physics students often have good raw material here and present it badly, treating a knowledge question as a science question with a right answer.

Extended Essay in Physics

Core · 4,000 words

A 4,000-word independent investigation supervised by a school teacher. The failure mode is a research question too broad to answer with available equipment. Narrowing it early is worth more than any amount of later writing support, and the supervision relationship belongs to the school, not to a tutor.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three delivery shapes cover almost every Sobha Hartland Physics enquiry. They differ in price, in who sets the agenda, and in how much of the work happens between sessions. Picking the wrong one is the most common way a family overspends without gaining a grade.

Weekly one-to-one across DP1 and DP2

A fixed slot each week for the full two years, tracking the school's own scheme of work rather than a generic syllabus order. This is the shape that makes the Internal Assessment manageable, because the investigation gets attention in the term it is actually set rather than in the fortnight before the school deadline. It is also the most expensive option in total and the cheapest per unit of grade movement.

  • One 60 or 90-minute session a week, same time, Gulf Standard Time
  • Session notes to the parent after each lesson
  • Pauses available for mock weeks and family travel
  • The IA timeline mapped against your school's internal deadline

A defined block before a paper

Eight to twelve sessions aimed at a specific component: Paper 1 data analysis technique, Paper 2 extended-response structure, or the Paper 3 experimental questions that most students meet last. The block has an end date, a syllabus checklist and a stated target, which is why it suits families who want a bounded spend rather than a standing commitment.

  • A named component and a fixed session count agreed up front
  • Past-paper practice from the student's own school resources
  • Mark-scheme language drilled explicitly, not implied
  • A written handover at the end listing what remains open

Investigation supervision support

Help with the scientific investigation that does not cross the academic-honesty line. A tutor teaches uncertainty propagation, interrogates whether a research question is answerable with available apparatus, and asks why a conclusion ignores its own error bars. The tutor does not write, edit to completion, or supply data. The school supervisor remains the supervisor.

  • Research-question feasibility challenged before data collection starts
  • Uncertainty and error analysis taught against the assessment criteria
  • Feedback given on the student's own draft, in the student's own words
  • No writing, no data, no editing to completion at any stage

Short-notice diagnostic

A single session that produces a written diagnosis rather than teaching. Useful when a report card has dropped and nobody in the family can tell whether the problem is content, technique or workload. It frequently ends with a recommendation to spend less than the parent expected, which is a legitimate outcome and the reason this option exists.

  • One session, one written diagnosis, no obligation to continue
  • Papers and class tests reviewed for the actual pattern of lost marks
  • An explicit statement of what tuition cannot fix
  • A recommended session count, which is sometimes zero

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Sobha Hartland

01

What an IB Physics tutor in Sobha Hartland costs, by tier

Market rates for Physics tuition reaching Sobha Hartland fall into five recognisable bands, and the gap between the cheapest and the most expensive is a factor of roughly fourteen. At the bottom, EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to AED 65 an hour and Tutopiya from AED 33 to AED 52; those rates buy a university student or a generalist, which can be the right answer for Year 8 science and is rarely the right answer for Diploma Physics HL. In the middle, Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200, which is the band where a genuine subject specialist starts to be plausible. At the top, BartyED publishes AED 650 for a premium named or examiner-led hour.

In-home delivery occupies its own band because the travel is priced in. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to AED 350, and independent home tutors advertise AED 200 to AED 500. For a Sobha Hartland family the arithmetic is unusually visible: the masterplan is compact and well connected, so a tutor coming from Downtown or Business Bay is a short drive, but one coming from Dubai Marina or Al Barsha is paying for Al Khail Road twice in an evening and that is in the quote whether or not it is itemised.

Monthly packages are where the comparison gets honest, because they expose how many hours a family is actually buying. Published examples include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour session run AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to AED 1,200 mid-market, and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Read those figures against each other and the in-home premium is roughly double for half the contact hours.

None of these are IB Gram's prices. They are what the market publishes, cited so you can check them, and they exist on this page because three of the six best-ranking competitor pages for this query publish no price at all. Our own figure comes out of a consultation after a free trial, because the honest answer depends on the level, the component and how many weeks remain.

The Physics assessment you are paying someone to know

A rate is only meaningful against a syllabus, so here is what a Diploma Physics tutor has to cover. The assessment is three papers plus the scientific investigation. The investigation is 20% of the final grade at both Standard and Higher Level, which surprises parents who assume coursework matters less at HL. The papers carry the remaining 80%, split so that Paper 1 combines multiple-choice questions with a data-analysis section, Paper 2 is extended response, and Paper 3 tests experimental technique and the analysis of unfamiliar material.

The themes run across both levels with HL going deeper rather than wider: space, time and motion; the particulate nature of matter; wave behaviour; fields; and nuclear and quantum physics. The HL additions are not a separable module a student can leave until last. They are extensions inside each theme, which is why a student comfortable with SL mechanics can still be caught by HL questions on the same topic that ask for a more complete treatment.

Where a tutor earns the upper band is in command terms. State, outline, describe, explain, deduce, determine, show that and comment each specify a different answer shape and a different mark allocation. A student who writes a correct physical explanation in response to determine has lost marks for a reason they will never diagnose alone, because the physics was right. This is the single most teachable thing in the subject and the thing a generalist tutor at the budget rate almost never addresses.

The second place the money shows is data. Significant figures, units, uncertainty propagation and the honest reading of a gradient are examinable in every paper and are the backbone of the investigation. They are also where a cheap hour and an expensive hour differ most visibly, because teaching them requires the tutor to have marked work against the criteria rather than merely to know the answer.

Online or a car: the comparison Sobha Hartland families should actually run

Parents in this neighbourhood search for a home tutor because that is the familiar phrase, and the question behind it is reasonable: will somebody competent sit with my child regularly. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE. Tutors do not travel to addresses in Sobha Hartland or anywhere else in the Emirates; home visiting is a service we run in India only. Everything here is one-to-one over live video, in a Gulf Standard Time slot.

We say that early rather than late because the comparison is one we are willing to have on cost. An in-home Physics hour in Dubai carries a travel premium of roughly AED 30 to AED 150 against the equivalent online hour, depending on which published range you take. For that premium the family gets physical presence and loses tutor selection, because the pool shrinks to qualified DP Physics teachers willing to drive to Ras Al Khor on a weekday evening. For a subject with as few specialists as Physics, that is a steep trade.

There is a scheduling cost too. A tutor with a 6pm booking in Al Barsha and a 8pm booking in Sobha Hartland has to protect the gap, so the slot a family is offered is the slot the route allows. Online, the slot is the slot the student wants, and a cancelled lesson can be moved to the next evening rather than to the next week. Over a two-year Diploma that difference compounds into a meaningful number of recovered sessions.

The case against online is worth stating fairly. A younger child who needs a physical presence to stay on task is better served in a room. A practical skill that requires handling apparatus cannot be fully taught through a screen, though the analysis of that practical work can. For a sixteen to nineteen year old working on Physics papers and a data-heavy investigation, the screen is not the constraint most parents fear it is.

Two years of Diploma Physics, costed honestly

Hourly rates are hard to act on. What a Sobha Hartland parent actually needs is the two-year total, because that is the decision being made when a family commits in DP1. The table below builds it from published market figures and sets it beside the other costs in a Dubai Diploma, so the tuition line has context rather than floating alone.

The context matters more than it sounds. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a family already paying senior-school fees in this emirate, a flat fee year is the first time in a while that a tuition decision can be made without a simultaneous fee rise to absorb.

Read the table and the pattern is clear: the expensive version of Physics support is not one-to-one teaching at a specialist rate. It is a late start. A family that begins weekly support in October of DP1 and runs it to the papers spends more in total than a family that buys a bridging block, a termly diagnostic and a focused run before each component, and the second family usually gets more because the work was sequenced to the school's own deadlines.

The figures are indicative market arithmetic, not a quote. They are built from the published bands above, so you can reconstruct them yourself, which is the point of printing them at all.

Where Sobha Hartland families waste money on Physics

  • Diagnose before you buy hours: one session of diagnosis beats four of guessing
  • Reserve the AED 450-plus band for diagnosed technique gaps, not content coverage
  • Group classes only work when every student in the room has the same gap
  • The school's own support sessions are the first thing to use and the last thing parents try
  • Ask any provider what happens to unused prepaid sessions before you prepay

Three expenditures come up repeatedly in first conversations with families here, and all three are avoidable. The first is buying hours before buying a diagnosis. A parent sees a 4 in Physics on a report, books ten sessions, and the tutor spends the first four working out what is wrong. That is four hours at AED 200 to AED 450 spent on information a single diagnostic session would have produced. The sequence should be diagnose, then decide how much to buy, and sometimes the honest answer is less than the parent expected.

The second is paying a premium rate for content delivery. The most expensive tutors are worth their rate for component technique, command-term discipline and investigation criteria. They are not worth it for re-teaching Topic A kinematics that the school already covered and the student partly understood. Content gaps can be closed with mid-band support or, often, with the school's own resources and a structured week. Reserve the top band for the diagnosed gap and the spend drops without the support getting worse.

The third is the group class bought as a substitute for one-to-one. A class of four students at a reduced per-student rate is good value when all four have the same gap, which is almost never true in Diploma Physics. One student cannot resolve vectors, one cannot structure a Paper 2 answer, one has an unanswerable research question, and the hour goes to whoever speaks first. The per-hour saving is real and the per-outcome cost is higher.

A fourth, smaller one: buying tuition in the final fortnight. At that point no new content can be learned securely and the useful work is paper technique and triage. It is worth doing, it is worth doing with a specialist, and it is worth being honest that it is a different product from two years of teaching. Any provider implying otherwise is selling you urgency.

06

The scientific investigation and the line a tutor must not cross

  • A tutor teaches criteria, technique and physics; the student writes every word
  • No data supplied, no drafting, no editing to completion, at any price
  • Research-question feasibility is the highest-value hour in the whole investigation
  • The school's internal deadline, not an IB date, is the one that governs the timeline
  • Buying a completed investigation puts the student's Diploma at risk, not the seller's

A fifth of the Physics grade sits in a piece of work that must be the student's own, which makes the academic-honesty boundary a practical matter rather than a legal footnote. A tutor may teach the physics, explain the assessment criteria, challenge whether a research question can be answered with the apparatus the school actually has, teach uncertainty propagation, and give feedback on a draft the student wrote. A tutor may not write any part of it, may not edit it to completion, may not supply data, and may not suggest a conclusion the student has not reached from their own results.

This matters in this SERP because the boundary is openly crossed. One site found in the research for these pages sells completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750. Buying one is an academic-honesty breach that triggers IB malpractice procedures against the student, not the seller. The student risks the whole Diploma for one component. We say this plainly on every Physics page because a parent comparing providers should be able to see which side of the line each one sits on.

What the honest version looks like in a session: the tutor asks what the independent variable is and how many values of it the student can realistically collect, which usually kills the first research question. Then the dependent variable and how it will be measured, which exposes the uncertainty problem. Then the controlled variables, which exposes whether the experiment means anything. By the time those three questions are answered the student has a plan they can defend, and they wrote it.

The supervision relationship stays with the school. Your child's supervising teacher signs the authenticity declaration and knows the school's internal deadline, which is usually months before any IB date. A tutor who does not ask for that deadline in the first session is not planning the work properly.

07

Exam sessions counted backwards from a Sobha Hartland desk

Nobody ranking for this query publishes a calendar, which is strange, because the calendar is what a parent needs to decide when to spend. The useful version runs backwards from the papers rather than forwards from today. UAE Diploma candidates sit the May session. Before the papers sit mock examinations, before those sits the school's internal investigation deadline, and before that sits the data collection that nobody schedules.

IB session and results dates are not restated here with specific dates, because ibo.org blocks automated verification and a date a parent acts on must be checkable. Confirm every IB date with your child's Diploma coordinator, who holds the school's own version of the schedule including the internal deadlines that matter more to your planning than the IB's do. For IGCSE students in the same household, Cambridge runs June and November series and Pearson Edexcel runs May/June and November; the Pearson November 2026 final timetable ran to 19 November 2026 and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, which gives you a realistic sense of the gap between paper and result.

Counted backwards, the spending decisions fall in a clear order. A bridging block belongs in the summer before DP1. Weekly support belongs in DP1 if the diagnosis says content. Investigation support belongs around the school's internal deadline, wherever the school puts it. Component technique belongs in the two terms before the papers. Anything bought outside that order is bought at the wrong time regardless of the rate.

The one date to find out this week is your school's internal deadline for the scientific investigation. It is set locally, it varies by several weeks between the schools serving Sobha Hartland, and it is the hinge the whole DP Physics timeline turns on.

KHDA, the schools around Sobha Hartland, and what a rating does not tell you

  • KHDA regulates Dubai; ADEK, SPEA, the RAK Department of Knowledge and the MoE cover the rest
  • An inspection band is a whole-school judgement, not a verdict on the Physics department
  • IB students were 7% of Dubai's private school enrolment in 2024-25, which is why DP specialists are scarce
  • Mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies lessons compete with Physics revision for the same week
  • IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, MoE, IB or Cambridge approval, accreditation or partnership of any kind

Dubai private schools are regulated by KHDA, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Abu Dhabi has ADEK, Sharjah has the Sharjah Private Education Authority, Ras Al Khaimah has its Department of Knowledge, and the federal Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. A Sobha Hartland family deals with KHDA, but the distinction matters if you relocate within the UAE mid-Diploma.

KHDA inspects annually on a six-band scale from Outstanding down to Very Weak and publishes the report. What the report will not tell you is whether the Physics department is any good. Inspection judgements aggregate across phases and subject groups, so a school rated Outstanding may still have a single DP Physics teacher covering both levels with no spare capacity, and a school rated Good may have an unusually strong science team. Parents treat the band as a proxy for subject quality more often than it deserves.

Scale is worth knowing too. Dubai had 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering 17 different curricula, with UK curriculum schools at 37% of enrolment, Indian at 26%, American at 14% and International Baccalaureate at 7%, per Dubai Media Office figures. The 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places; six opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6%. For Physics specifically, that 7% IB share explains why DP Physics tutors are scarcer than IGCSE ones.

One thing KHDA requires that affects a Physics student's week directly: Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum. KHDA calculates mandatory-subject instructional time on a 40-minute lesson unit and advises no mandatory lesson run shorter than 25 minutes. That time comes out of the same week as Physics revision, which is why realistic scheduling beats ambitious scheduling.

Permits, legality and what a Sobha Hartland parent can verify

  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free of charge and valid for two years
  • Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 is the instrument; MoHRE lists a two-working-day completion time
  • No fine amount is published, so treat any quoted figure as unverified
  • A training institute with premises needs a KHDA permit; an individual tutor does not
  • Asking your child's own teacher for paid tuition runs into the permit's code of conduct

Private tutoring in the UAE is permit-regulated, and a parent can check this themselves rather than taking a provider's word. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is issued through MoHRE, and u.ae states that it is granted free of charge for two years. Anyone quoting you a permit fee is either mistaken or inventing a cost. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students.

MoHRE's own service page for it is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, lists no fees and a two-working-day completion time, and is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. u.ae also states that individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so no amount should be quoted to you; a figure circulating online could not be verified against any official source and does not appear on this page.

There is a separate and often confused category. A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. That is a different thing from an individual tutor's MoHRE permit, and marketing copy in this market routinely conflates the two. IB Gram holds neither and does not claim to.

One more boundary worth knowing before you ask a school teacher privately. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff in Abu Dhabi prohibit paid private tutoring of students enrolled at the teacher's own school, and the code of conduct attached to the MoHRE permit also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. That is press-reported rather than quoted from the current policy document, so verify it against ADEK directly if it affects your decision.

Starting, and what happens when no Physics specialist is free

  • Tell us the level, the school, the hurting component and the internal deadline
  • A free trial lesson comes before any payment, with no card required
  • If no Physics specialist is free, you get a date rather than a substitute
  • Sessions are scheduled in Gulf Standard Time around the school run
  • Form data is used to make a match and deleted on request

The process is short. You tell us the level, the school, the component that is hurting and the school's investigation deadline. We propose a tutor and a slot. You take a free trial lesson with no payment. If the match is wrong, you say so and we propose someone else; if it is right, you decide how many sessions to buy, and we will tell you if we think that number is too high.

The part most providers leave out is availability. Diploma Physics HL is a narrow specialism and there are evenings when nobody who genuinely covers it is free in a Gulf Standard Time slot. When that happens we say so and give you a date, rather than filling the hour with a generalist at the same rate. For a family in Sobha Hartland that is occasionally an inconvenient answer and it is the honest one: a general science tutor taking a DP Physics HL session is a worse outcome than waiting a week.

Where tutors are based is a fair question and the answer is public. Our Physics specialists work across the UAE and India, and sessions are scheduled in your time zone. Nobody travels to a UAE address. There is no IB Gram office, centre or branch in the Emirates, and anyone implying otherwise about any provider is worth checking. The conversion path on this page is a UAE-appropriate enquiry form and a free trial, not an overseas phone number.

On data: a lead form here collects a child's name, year group, school and the subject that needs help, because a match cannot be made without them. It is used to propose a tutor and nothing else, and it can be deleted on request. Our privacy notice is linked from every page, consistent with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection.

Where we tutor

Sobha Hartland and the central corridor

Physics tuition demand in this part of Dubai clusters along the creek and the Al Khail Road spine rather than by emirate-wide averages. These are the communities whose students we most often teach alongside Sobha Hartland families, with what each one changes about scheduling and cost.

Sobha Hartland

Two international schools inside the masterplan, a compact footprint and a single main access route off Al Ain Road. Short school runs, which means a 4pm session start is genuinely available here in a way it is not in outer Dubai.

Mohammed Bin Rashid City

Directly adjacent, sharing the same school options and the same Meydan approach roads. Villa communities here spread the catchment wider, so families often travel further to school than Sobha Hartland residents do.

Business Bay

Apartment density with no large school inside it, so children commute outward in several directions. Session timing varies more between siblings here than almost anywhere else in Dubai.

Downtown Dubai

A short hop across the creek side of Al Khail. Parents commonly work within walking distance of home, which makes a parent present at a 5pm session more realistic than in commuter communities.

Meydan and Nad Al Sheba

Low-density villas with two well-established schools serving the area. The drive from Sobha Hartland is short in theory and unpredictable at pickup time, which is the single most common cause of a missed in-home slot.

Al Jaddaf and Culture Village

Home to an IB continuum school drawing students from across the creek corridor. A useful comparison point for Sobha Hartland families weighing a continuum school against a British-then-DP route.

Al Quoz

Industrial and residential mixed, with several large Indian-curriculum and British schools. Students from here often sit IGCSE before DP, and the Physics content gap at that transition is the most frequent reason for a first enquiry.

DIFC

Few families, late working hours, and a strong preference for sessions after 7pm. Worth naming because it is the clearest case where online delivery is not a compromise but the only workable option.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Sobha Hartland

Inside and beside Sobha Hartland

The two schools within the masterplan are the reason this neighbourhood exists as a tutoring market at all. Both run a British primary and secondary route into senior qualifications, both are inspected by KHDA, and both draw families who moved here specifically for the walk-to-school proposition.

  • Hartland International School
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Kent College Dubai

The wider creek and Al Khail corridor

Within a realistic school run of Sobha Hartland, these schools cover the IB continuum, British-then-DP and Indian-curriculum routes. Students we support in Physics come from across this group, and their school deadlines for the investigation differ by several weeks.

  • Deira International School
  • Credence High School
  • GEMS Our Own Indian School
  • JSS Private School
  • Horizon English School
  • Safa British School

Schools are named to describe the private-school market around Sobha Hartland. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any school named on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Say what is actually wrong

A ten-minute conversation about the level, the school, the last two assessments and the component that is losing marks. Bring the report and a marked paper if you have one. This is where a diagnosis starts, and it costs nothing.

  2. 02

Meet a Physics specialist for free

A trial lesson with a tutor who teaches Diploma Physics, not a sales call. The student works on something real and the tutor forms a view on whether the problem is content, technique or workload. No payment and no card.

  3. 03

Agree a shape and a session count

Weekly across the year, a defined block before a component, or investigation support. The count is agreed up front and written down, and we will say if we think you are buying more hours than the diagnosis justifies.

  4. 04

Fix the slot around the school run

A standing time in Gulf Standard Time that survives a Sobha Hartland pickup. Sessions move rather than vanish when a mock week or a family trip lands, and the rescheduled lesson usually sits in the same week.

  5. 05

Read the notes and change course when needed

Written notes after each session showing what was covered and what is still open. If the pattern of lost marks has not moved after six sessions, that is a signal to change the approach rather than buy more of it.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The price is on the page

Market AED bands with the source and the date attached, including the ones that make in-home look expensive. Three of the six strongest competitor pages for this query publish no price at all and one asks the question in its own FAQ without answering it.

Physics specialists, not science generalists

The tutor teaching Diploma Physics HL has taught Diploma Physics HL. Online delivery is what makes that possible for a Sobha Hartland family, because the pool is every available specialist rather than everyone within a twenty-minute drive.

The honesty line is stated, not implied

A tutor teaches the investigation and the student writes it. No data, no drafting, no editing to completion. In a search result where completed Internal Assessments are openly sold, saying so is a position rather than a disclaimer.

Availability disclosed before you pay

If no Physics specialist is free in your slot, you get a date instead of a substitute. The alternative is a generalist at a specialist rate, which is the quiet way this market overcharges families.

Regulatory claims we do not make

IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, MoHRE, IB or Cambridge approval, accreditation, licensing or partnership. We explain what those bodies do and link their own pages so you can check anything on this page yourself.

A free trial that is actually free

One lesson with a Physics specialist, no card, no minimum purchase and no obligation to continue. If the outcome of the trial is that your child does not need paid tuition, that is a legitimate result and we will say it.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Sobha Hartland: your questions answered

How much does an IB Physics tutor in Sobha Hartland cost per hour?+

Market rates for Diploma Physics reaching Sobha Hartland run from about AED 150 to AED 650 an hour. Unitors publishes IB tuition from AED 200, TutorChase AED 270, and BartyED AED 650 for premium examiner-led support; Bestimate's 2026 Dubai table puts specialist tuition at AED 200 to AED 450 or more. In-home delivery sits at AED 180 to AED 500 because travel is priced in. Those are published market figures as read in October 2026, not IB Gram's rates. Ours come out of a consultation after a free trial lesson, because the honest number depends on the level, the component and the weeks remaining.

Is paying AED 650 an hour for Physics ever worth it in Dubai?+

Sometimes, for a narrow purpose. A top-band hour is worth its price for a diagnosed technique gap at Higher Level: command-term discipline in Paper 2, uncertainty propagation, or an investigation whose research question will not survive contact with the apparatus. It is poor value for re-teaching content the school already covered, which mid-band support at AED 150 to AED 300 handles equally well. The expensive mistake is not the rate; it is buying ten premium hours before anyone has diagnosed what is wrong. One diagnostic session first usually reduces the total spend.

Is Sobha Hartland tuition delivered at our address or over video?+

Over video. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; nobody travels to addresses in Sobha Hartland, Mohammed Bin Rashid City or elsewhere in the Emirates. Home visiting is a service we run in India only. All UAE tuition is one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time. We are direct about it because the trade is worth seeing clearly: you lose a physical presence in the room and you gain the pick of every available Diploma Physics specialist rather than whoever can drive to Ras Al Khor on a weekday evening, and the travel premium leaves the invoice.

What does the Physics Internal Assessment count for, and can a tutor help with it?+

The scientific investigation is 20% of the final Physics grade at both Standard and Higher Level. A tutor can teach the assessment criteria, interrogate whether the research question is answerable with the apparatus your school has, teach uncertainty and error analysis, and give feedback on a draft the student wrote. A tutor cannot write it, cannot edit it to completion, and cannot supply data. Your child's school supervisor signs the authenticity declaration. The school's internal deadline governs the timeline and usually falls months before any IB date, so find it out early.

My child is at a Sobha Hartland school and dropped from a 6 to a 4 in Physics. Where do we start?+

With a diagnosis, not with hours. A drop of two grades is usually one of three things: a content gap opening in a specific theme, a command-term problem where the physics is right and the answer shape is wrong, or workload collapse where Physics is losing the week to five other subjects. Those need different responses and cost different amounts. A single diagnostic session reviewing the marked papers identifies which one it is, and it sometimes ends with a recommendation to buy fewer sessions than you expected.

Why is Diploma Physics tuition harder to find in Sobha Hartland than IGCSE science?+

Numbers. International Baccalaureate students were 7% of Dubai private school enrolment in 2024-25, against 37% for UK curriculum schools, so the pool of teachers who have actually taught Diploma Physics is a fraction of the pool who have taught IGCSE science. Sobha Hartland compounds it: a compact community with two schools inside the masterplan has a shallow local supply of any specialism. Hiring on a map radius makes the shortage worse, because proximity becomes the selection criterion. Online delivery is how the pool widens back out to every available specialist.

Is a group Physics class cheaper than one-to-one for a Diploma student?+

Cheaper per hour, often more expensive per outcome. A group of two to four costs less per student, and it works when every student in the room has the same gap. In Diploma Physics they rarely do: one student cannot resolve vectors, another cannot structure a Paper 2 answer, a third has an unworkable investigation question. The hour goes to whoever speaks first and the others pay for listening. Groups are reasonable for broad content revision. For component technique, one-to-one is the cheaper purchase even at a higher rate.

Does my Physics tutor need a UAE permit, and how would I check?+

Individuals providing private tuition in the UAE need the MoHRE private tutor work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. u.ae states it is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Anyone quoting a permit fee is mistaken. You can ask a tutor directly whether they hold it. Note that a tutoring operation with premises in Dubai needs a separate KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, which is a different thing entirely and is the distinction most marketing copy blurs.

How many Physics sessions a week should a DP1 student in Sobha Hartland have?+

One, in most cases. A weekly 60 or 90-minute session across DP1 gives enough contact to track the school's scheme of work and enough gap for the student to do the independent practice that actually moves a grade. Two sessions a week usually means the student has no time left to work alone, which is where learning happens in this subject. The exception is a diagnosed content gap with a deadline, where a short burst of two a week for a few weeks closes it faster, then drops back to one.

When do Physics exam sessions fall, and when should we start spending?+

UAE Diploma candidates sit the May session. We do not restate specific IB dates because ibo.org blocks automated verification, so confirm them with your school's Diploma coordinator, who also holds the internal deadlines that matter more to your planning. Counted backwards, the spending order is: a bridging block the summer before DP1, weekly support through DP1 if the diagnosis says content, investigation support around the school's internal deadline, then component technique in the two terms before the papers. Buying outside that order wastes money regardless of the hourly rate.

What is the difference between Physics HL and SL for tutoring purposes?+

Higher Level runs roughly 240 teaching hours against about 150 at Standard Level, and the extra depth sits inside each theme rather than in a separate module. That is why a student comfortable with SL mechanics can still be caught by an HL question on the same topic demanding a fuller treatment. The investigation is 20% at both levels and the paper structure is the same, so SL support concentrates on secure coverage and answer shape, while HL support spends more time on the extended reasoning that Paper 2 rewards.

Can one tutor cover both Physics and Maths for a Sobha Hartland student?+

Often yes, and for a Physics HL with Maths Analysis and Approaches combination it can be efficient, because the calculus and algebraic manipulation overlap substantially. It is worth checking that the tutor genuinely teaches both at Diploma level rather than teaching one and coping with the other. Where it works less well is Physics HL with Maths Applications and Interpretation, because the two subjects pull in different directions and a single tutor tends to default to whichever they know better. Two specialists are sometimes the cheaper answer.

Does online Physics tuition work when the subject needs practical apparatus?+

The practical work itself happens in your child's school laboratory, where the apparatus and the supervising teacher are. What online tuition handles is everything around it: whether the research question can be answered with the equipment available, how many values of the independent variable are realistic, how to treat repeated measurements, how uncertainties propagate through a calculation, and whether the conclusion is consistent with the error bars. Those are the parts the assessment criteria reward and the parts students most often get wrong, and none of them require the tutor to be in the room.

What does KHDA's school rating tell us about a school's Physics department?+

Less than most parents assume. KHDA inspects Dubai private schools annually on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak and publishes a report, but the judgements aggregate across phases and subject groups. A school rated Outstanding may run Diploma Physics with one teacher covering both levels and no spare capacity; a school rated Good may have an unusually strong science team. Read the report for what it says about secondary science specifically, ask the school how many teachers cover DP Physics, and treat the headline band as context rather than as a subject verdict.

What happens if no Diploma Physics specialist is available in our slot?+

You get a date rather than a substitute. Diploma Physics, particularly Higher Level, is a narrow specialism and there are evenings when nobody who genuinely covers it is free in a Gulf Standard Time window. When that happens we say so and tell you when it changes. The alternative, which this market does quietly and often, is to fill the hour with a general science tutor at the specialist rate. For a DP Physics HL student that is worse than waiting a week, so we do not do it.

Are there cheaper options before we pay for a Physics tutor at all?+

Two, and both are underused. The first is your school's own support sessions, which are usually free to enrolled students and run by the department that sets the assessments. Ask what is available for senior science before paying anyone. The second is structured independent practice using the school's own past-paper access, with a clear weekly plan. If a diagnostic session concludes that the problem is workload rather than content, those two cost nothing and work better than paid hours. We will tell you if that is what we see.

Price it properly, then buy only what the diagnosis justifies

The market will quote a Sobha Hartland family anything from AED 150 to AED 650 an hour for Diploma Physics, and the rate is a poor guide to what you get. What matters is whether the tutor can name the component losing the marks, whether the investigation is being handled in the term it was set, and whether anybody has told you the sessions you do not need. Start with a free trial lesson and a diagnosis. Decide the session count afterwards, with the market bands on this page in front of you and the source of every figure checkable. Lessons are one-to-one, live online, in Gulf Standard Time.
