IGCSE Science Tutor in Sobha Hartland

Booking an IGCSE science tutor in Sobha Hartland fails on logistics more often than on teaching. A Year 11 timetable with mandatory Arabic and Islamic Education in it, a pickup that lands between 3pm and 4pm depending on which school, homework, and a 90-minute window before fatigue makes the session worthless. This page starts from the clock rather than the syllabus: when the day ends across the schools this neighbourhood feeds, and when a science session realistically fits. All lessons are one-to-one and live online in Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Sobha Hartland

Science tuition fails on the clock before it fails on the teaching

Most families in Sobha Hartland who stop paying for a science tutor do not stop because the teaching was poor. They stop because the arrangement did not survive a normal week. The session was set for 4pm and pickup from a school off Al Khail Road lands at 3.45pm on a good day. The tutor had a slot after their previous booking and the previous booking was in Al Barsha. The child arrived at the session having already done an hour of homework and spent forty minutes of a paid hour being tired. None of that is a teaching problem and all of it is a money problem.

So this page starts with the timetable. Sobha Hartland is a compact masterplan on the Ras Al Khor side of the creek, with two substantial international schools inside it and a short drive to several more through Meydan, Nad Al Sheba, Al Jaddaf and Al Quoz. That geography is unusually favourable: a family whose child attends a school inside the masterplan has one of the shortest school runs in Dubai, which makes an early evening slot genuinely available. A family driving to Al Garhoud or Al Quoz does not, and should not book as though they do.

The second thing shaping the week is one most tuition providers ignore entirely. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum. KHDA calculates the instructional time for those subjects on a 40-minute lesson unit, allows schools to vary lesson length provided the weekly total is met, and advises that no mandatory subject lesson run shorter than 25 minutes. For a Year 10 or Year 11 student sitting three separate sciences, those lessons occupy real timetable space and real homework time. A science revision plan that assumes a British school week is planning for a week this child does not have.

Third is the shape of IGCSE science itself. Most Sobha Hartland students sit Biology, Chemistry and Physics as three separate qualifications, which means three specifications, three sets of papers and three practical components landing in the same series. Revision cannot be spread evenly because the content volume differs and because the papers themselves are not evenly spaced in the timetable. Knowing which science is closest to its paper is worth more than knowing which science the student finds hardest.

The practical answer we have landed on is online delivery in a slot the family actually controls. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; nobody travels to an address in Sobha Hartland or elsewhere in the Emirates, and home visiting is a service we run in India only. The reason this matters for the school run is specific: a tutor driving between bookings offers the slot their route allows, while an online tutor offers the slot the student can use. Over a two-year IGCSE course that difference is a large number of recovered sessions.

At a glance

  • Schools inside the Sobha Hartland masterplan give one of Dubai's shortest school runs
  • Mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies lessons occupy real weekly time
  • Most students sit three separate sciences, so three specifications run in parallel
  • UAE candidates sit Cambridge in the June and November series, not February-March
  • A free trial lesson comes before any payment, so testing a slot costs nothing
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three stages matter to a Sobha Hartland science student, and the scheduling problem changes at each one. The notes below describe what each stage does to the week rather than restating course content you can read on a specification.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE Biology, Chemistry and Physics

Usually three separate qualifications sat at 16, on Cambridge 0610, 0620 and 0625 or Pearson Edexcel 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1. Cambridge tiers at Core and Extended; the Extended tier carries the algebraic and quantitative treatment that A Level and the IB Diploma assume. Each science has written papers plus a practical component, which on most routes is an alternative-to-practical written paper rather than a timed laboratory examination.

Across the schools serving Sobha Hartland the senior day ends between roughly 2.45pm and 3.30pm, and the drive adds anything from five minutes to forty. That spread decides whether a 4pm session is realistic or whether 5.30pm is the first honest option, and it is the question we ask before proposing a slot.

LOWERAges 11-14 · Years 7-9

Lower secondary science, Years 7 to 9

Integrated science before the IGCSE split, usually taught as one subject with three strands. The decision that matters here is the one made in Year 9: three separate sciences, a double award, or a single combined qualification. That choice narrows what a student can take at 16 to 19, and it is made at an age when most students have no view about it.

Dubai students in this band also carry the KHDA mandatory subjects, and in Years 7 to 9 the homework load from those sits alongside a wide option set. A weekly science session at this stage is as much about building a working week as about content, and an early slot is easier to protect than it will be in Year 11.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

What IGCSE science leads into

IB Diploma sciences or A Level. Both assume the quantitative treatment carried by the Extended tier, and both assume a student can handle multi-step calculation without prompting. The Diploma adds a scientific investigation worth 20% of the subject grade at both Standard and Higher Level, which draws directly on the experimental reasoning IGCSE practical papers assess.

Several schools within a Sobha Hartland school run offer the Diploma, and others run A Level, so the decision at 16 is a live one here rather than automatic. For MoE equivalency on the British track, five accredited IGCSE or GCSE subjects at no less than grade E or 3 are required, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that five.

RESITAges 16-17 · The autumn after the papers

The November resit route

Cambridge runs IGCSE and O Level in a June series and a November series, so a grade that misses a requirement can be retaken in the autumn. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE is available in May/June and November. This matters to planning because a November entry means a defined eight to twelve week block of work rather than an indefinite commitment.

Dubai's academic year makes November resit preparation awkward, because the student is simultaneously starting a new course. Scheduling becomes the whole problem rather than part of it, and an online slot that can move inside the week is the difference between finishing the block and abandoning it.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Science is three subjects at this level, and most Sobha Hartland enquiries involve two of them. These are the subjects we support alongside, with the specification detail a parent needs rather than a course summary.

IGCSE Physics

Cambridge 0625 Core and Extended · Pearson 4PH1

The science Sobha Hartland parents enquire about most. Marks concentrate in electricity and circuit analysis, equation rearrangement, and graph work with units. Extended-tier questions assume algebra the Core tier never requires, which is why a tier change mid-course needs a planned bridge rather than optimism.

IGCSE Chemistry

Cambridge 0620 Core and Extended · Pearson 4CH1

Mole calculations carried through several steps are the dividing line between a grade 6 and a grade 8 here. Organic chemistry is usually learned as a list and then collapses when a paper asks for reasoning. Both are technique problems with a fixed number of sessions behind them.

IGCSE Biology

Cambridge 0610 Core and Extended · Pearson 4BI1

Content volume is the challenge rather than difficulty. Students lose marks to imprecise terminology and to describing a process when the question asked them to explain it. A revision plan that sequences topics against the paper order beats one that starts at the front of the book.

IGCSE Combined and Co-ordinated Science

Cambridge 0653 and 0654

Taken where a school offers a double award rather than three separate sciences. The content is a selection from all three sciences, so a tutor needs to know which topics are in and which are not, and parents should check before buying a full triple-science revision plan.

IGCSE Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended · Pearson 4MA1

Bought alongside science more often than any other subject, and frequently the real cause of a physics or chemistry grade. Rearranging formulae, standard form, ratio and graph gradients appear in science papers, and weakness there reads as a science problem on a report card.

IGCSE English Language

Cambridge 0500 and 0990 · Pearson 4EA1

Relevant to science because extended-response marks depend on precise written explanation. A student who writes vaguely under time pressure loses biology marks for reasons that have nothing to do with biology, and it is often the cheapest grade in the set to move.

IB MYP Sciences

Criterion-assessed, Years 7-11

Supported for students at continuum schools within a Sobha Hartland school run. Marks are criterion levels out of 8, not percentages, and the processing and evaluating criterion is the one that predicts later success in Diploma sciences.

IB Diploma Biology

HL and SL

Where a Sobha Hartland IGCSE biologist often goes next. The investigation is 20% of the grade at both levels, and the experimental reasoning assessed in IGCSE practical papers is its direct foundation, which is a reason to take those papers seriously rather than as a formality.

IB Diploma Chemistry

HL and SL

Restructured for first teaching in 2023 into structure and reactivity themes. The quantitative gap between IGCSE Core and this course is the single most common reason a strong IGCSE student struggles in DP1, and it is closed in the summer rather than in October.

IB Diploma Physics

HL and SL

Higher Level runs roughly 240 teaching hours against about 150 at Standard Level, with depth added inside each theme. An IGCSE Extended physicist arrives prepared; an IGCSE Core physicist arrives with a specific algebra gap in kinematics and circuits.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements work for IGCSE science in this neighbourhood, and the right one depends on the school run as much as on the grade. Picking the wrong shape is the usual reason a family pays for hours the child cannot use.

One weekday evening, all three sciences rotating

A single standing slot each week that moves between Biology, Chemistry and Physics according to what is closest to an assessment. It suits families with a long school run, because one protected evening is easier to defend than three. The tutor keeps a running record of which science is behind, so the rotation is driven by need rather than by turn-taking.

  • One 60 or 90-minute slot weekly in Gulf Standard Time
  • Subject chosen each week by what is closest to a test or paper
  • Written notes to the parent after every session
  • Rescheduling inside the same week rather than losing the lesson

Two short sessions on the strongest-energy evenings

Two 45 or 60-minute sessions rather than one long one, placed on the two evenings the family knows the child arrives home earliest. This is the shape that works for students whose attention is gone by 6.30pm, which is most Year 11 students in exam term. It costs the same for the same hours and loses far less of them.

  • Two shorter sessions placed where the school run is shortest
  • Each session has a single objective rather than a broad agenda
  • Suited to Year 11 in the spring term before the papers
  • Either session can move without disturbing the other

A weekend block before a series

A defined run of longer weekend sessions in the eight to twelve weeks before a June or November series, when weekday evenings are already saturated with school revision. Weekend mornings in Dubai are the most reliably free hours in a Year 11 week and the most underused.

  • Longer weekend sessions when weekday evenings are full
  • A fixed session count tied to the series, with an end date
  • Past-paper work from your child's own school access
  • A written handover at the end listing what remains open

A single scheduling and diagnosis session

One session that produces a written plan rather than teaching: which science is furthest behind, which evenings are realistically usable, and how many hours the gap actually needs. It frequently recommends fewer hours than the parent expected, which is a legitimate outcome and why it is offered separately.

  • One session, a written plan, no obligation to continue
  • Marked papers and reports read for the real pattern
  • An honest statement of which evenings will not work
  • A recommended session count, sometimes zero

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Sobha Hartland

01

When the school day actually ends, and when a session fits

The first question we ask a Sobha Hartland family is not about grades. It is which school, and how long the drive takes at pickup. Across the schools in and around this neighbourhood the senior day ends somewhere between roughly 2.45pm and 3.30pm, and the journey home ranges from a five-minute hop inside the masterplan to forty minutes crossing Al Khail Road at the wrong moment. That spread decides whether 4pm is a real option or a fiction, and it is the single most useful piece of information in booking tuition.

The arithmetic parents rarely run is what happens after arrival. A student who gets home at 3.20pm can eat, change and start a session at 4.15pm with their attention intact. A student arriving at 4.10pm cannot start at 4.30pm in any useful sense, and a session booked there will quietly become forty minutes of teaching inside a paid hour. Booking later is not a compromise; it is how the hour gets used.

The second thing to place in the week is school homework. Three separate sciences plus mathematics plus English generates a predictable load, and most Sobha Hartland schools set it on a fixed cycle. A tuition session that lands on the heaviest homework evening competes with work the student must do, and the student will either skip the homework or arrive at the session having done it badly. Ask the school which evenings are heaviest, then book around them.

The table below sets out the realistic session windows by where the school sits relative to Sobha Hartland. It is not a timetable for any named school, because those change; it is the pattern of the catchment, and it is the shape of the question we work through before proposing a slot.

02

Three sciences, three specifications, one week

Most Sobha Hartland students sit Biology, Chemistry and Physics as three separate IGCSEs, which is three specifications running in parallel with three sets of papers in the same series. Parents sometimes treat science as one subject with a single grade problem, and that framing produces a revision plan that spends equal time on all three regardless of which is closest to an examination or which has the largest remaining content.

Content volume differs substantially. Biology is the widest and the most memory-dependent, so it rewards early, spaced coverage and punishes a late sprint. Chemistry has the heaviest quantitative spine, concentrated in mole calculations carried through several steps, so it rewards targeted technique work. Physics is the most algebra-dependent, which means weakness there often turns out to be a mathematics problem wearing a physics label. Those three profiles call for different session shapes, not equal time.

Tiering is the other structural fact. Cambridge offers Core and Extended tiers, and the Extended tier carries the algebraic and quantitative treatment that A Level and the IB Diploma assume. A student entered for Core has a ceiling on the available grade, and a student moved from Core to Extended mid-course has a specific, closable gap rather than a general weakness. Confirm with the school which tier each science is entered for before buying any revision plan, because it changes what the plan should contain.

The practical component is the piece most often misunderstood. On most routes the practical skills are assessed through a written alternative-to-practical paper rather than a timed laboratory examination, which means the examinable skill is reading and interpreting an experiment on paper: identifying variables, spotting a flaw in a method, reading a scale correctly, and explaining why a result is anomalous. Those are teachable in a handful of sessions and are routinely left untouched until the fortnight before the series.

Cambridge or Edexcel: find out which, because it changes the work

A surprising number of parents paying for IGCSE science tuition cannot say which board their child sits, and it is the first thing a tutor should ask. The two main routes for Sobha Hartland students are Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, and they differ in ways that affect how a revision block should be built, not just in paper numbering.

Cambridge tiers at Core and Extended, which determines the grade ceiling and the depth of quantitative work expected. Cambridge also runs a June series and a November series for IGCSE and O Level, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. Every Cambridge centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, and Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong zone timetable. That is a real administrative risk and it sits with the centre, so ask your school which zone it is in.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE is available in May/June and November each year. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson also publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, which is why any plan should link the live official timetable rather than rely on dates restated elsewhere.

One thing to rule out immediately. The Cambridge February and March series is offered to India only. A student in Dubai does not sit it, and any revision plan built around a February-March window is built for the wrong country. UAE candidates sit June and November, and November is the resit route.

The mandatory UAE subjects nobody factors into a revision plan

  • Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in every Dubai private school
  • KHDA calculates the time on a 40-minute lesson unit and advises no lesson under 25 minutes
  • Separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs are required; combined classes are prohibited
  • Teachers of Arabic and Islamic Education must hold the appropriate KHDA approval
  • Plan science revision around three usable evenings, not five

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA's requirements were to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year, or April 2026 for schools whose year begins in April. For a Sobha Hartland Year 11 sitting three sciences and mathematics, that is not a footnote. It is several lessons a week plus the homework attached to them, inside the same week the science revision has to happen.

The mechanics are specific. KHDA calculates mandatory-subject instructional time on a 40-minute lesson unit, permits schools to vary lesson length provided the total weekly time is met, and advises that the length of any mandatory subject lesson be at least 25 minutes. Schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and KHDA states that combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited because the curriculum expectations and language of instruction differ.

Language of instruction follows the same logic. KHDA requires Standard Arabic as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs and for Arabic as a first language, Arabic as the primary language for Social Studies for Arab students, and the school's licensed-curriculum language for non-Arabs in Islamic Education and in Moral, Social and Cultural studies. Schools must also ensure that all teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic hold the appropriate KHDA approval to teach those subjects, which is a checkable credential point if your child needs support in them.

For a science revision plan the practical consequence is simple and usually ignored. The usable week is smaller than a British-curriculum planning template assumes, so a plan built on five free evenings is a plan for a week this student does not have. We build around three, and we ask which evenings carry the mandatory-subject homework. For these subjects themselves, note that KHDA states the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry of Education is strictly prohibited, which constrains how any tutoring material for them can be described.

05

The series counted backwards from a Year 11 desk

No competitor page found in the research for this project publishes a calendar, which is odd, because the calendar is what decides when a family should spend. The useful version runs backwards from the papers. UAE candidates sit Cambridge in June with November as the resit route, and Pearson Edexcel in May/June with a November series. Before the papers sit the school's mock examinations, and before those sits the point at which an entry decision including tier is effectively locked.

Entry deadlines sit months before the exam, which is the part parents find counterintuitive. The published Pearson pattern gives a sense of the real distances: the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. So a November resit decision is effectively made in the weeks after August results, while the student is beginning a new academic year.

Counted backwards, the spending order is clear. Diagnosis belongs early in Year 10, when a tier decision is still open. Content support belongs across Year 10 and the autumn of Year 11. Paper technique and the alternative-to-practical paper belong in the spring term before the series. A resit block belongs in the eight to twelve weeks after results, with an end date attached. Anything bought outside that order is bought at the wrong time regardless of the rate.

One administrative item to settle this term rather than later: ask your school which Cambridge zone it sits in and which timetable version it uses. Cambridge states that using the wrong zone timetable can cause a missed exam and that it cannot accept responsibility in that case. It is a five-minute question with a serious tail risk.

Ramadan, holidays and the rest of the Dubai calendar

  • Ramadan shortens school hours; a post-Iftar slot is usually the workable one
  • Online sessions follow a family abroad without rescheduling travel
  • A break block needs a named objective, not general revision
  • Short winter and spring breaks are the most underused hours in the year
  • The series dates do not move, so build the plan around them

A revision plan that ignores the UAE academic calendar collapses twice a year. During Ramadan school hours shorten and the whole family's day reorganises around Iftar, which makes a late-afternoon session impractical and a post-Iftar session straightforward. Families regularly ask whether lessons can move to a later evening slot for that period, and the answer is yes. This is one of the clearest practical advantages of online delivery, because a shifted slot requires no change to anybody's travel.

The summer break is long and families in Sobha Hartland frequently spend part of it outside the UAE. That creates two options and one trap. The options are to pause and restart, or to continue from wherever the family is, which online delivery allows without renegotiating anything. The trap is a plan that assumes an uninterrupted summer of catch-up and then loses six weeks of it to travel, arriving in September with the gap untouched and the budget spent.

Winter and spring breaks are shorter and more useful than families expect, because they fall at the right distance from the papers. A short, defined block of work across a break can close a specific content gap without competing with school homework, which is the scarce resource during term. The condition is that the block has a named objective: this student finishes the break able to do multi-step mole calculations, not having generally revised chemistry.

Public examinations do not move for any of this, which is the whole point of counting backwards. The papers sit where Cambridge and Pearson place them. Everything else in the year is negotiable, and a plan that treats the negotiable parts as fixed and the fixed parts as negotiable is the most common planning error we see in this neighbourhood.

07

What the market charges, cheapest band first

Start at the bottom of the market, because for IGCSE science the bottom of the market is sometimes the right answer and nobody says so. Budget online tuition runs from roughly AED 45 an hour, with EdFlik advertising from AED 45 to AED 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to AED 52. For a Year 9 student who needs homework structure and someone to keep them honest, that band does the job. It is not the right band for Extended-tier quantitative chemistry, and the honest line between those two cases is drawn by a diagnosis rather than by a price list.

Above it, qualified subject tutors online sit at AED 150 to AED 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE tuition from AED 150. That is the band where a tutor who knows the specification, the tier and the alternative-to-practical paper becomes plausible, and for most Year 10 and Year 11 science enquiries from Sobha Hartland it is the right one. Specialist IB and IGCSE tutors run AED 200 to AED 450 or more, with TutorChase publishing AED 270 and Bestimate's 2026 Dubai table putting specialists at AED 200 to AED 450 or above.

In-home delivery sits at AED 180 to AED 350 per Bestimate, with independent home tutors advertising AED 200 to AED 500, and the premium is travel. For a Sobha Hartland family that premium buys a car crossing Al Khail Road, and it buys it at the most congested hour of the day, which is also the reason the slot on offer is the slot the route allows. Monthly comparisons make it starker: published packages include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions.

None of these are IB Gram's prices. They are the market's, cited with the publisher and read in October 2026, and they are on this page because three of the six strongest competitor pages for this query publish no price at all. What we cost follows a consultation after a free trial lesson, because it depends on the tier, the number of sciences and the weeks left before the series.

KHDA, the schools this neighbourhood feeds, and what an inspection says

  • KHDA regulates Dubai; ADEK, SPEA, the RAK Department of Knowledge and the MoE cover the rest
  • An inspection band aggregates across phases and says little about the science team
  • Ask how many teachers cover each IGCSE science and which tiers they enter
  • KHDA confirmed no private school fee increase for 2026-27 on 22 May 2026
  • IB Gram claims no regulator or examination board approval, accreditation or partnership

Dubai private schools are regulated by KHDA, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, described by u.ae as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Abu Dhabi has ADEK, Sharjah the Sharjah Private Education Authority, Ras Al Khaimah its Department of Knowledge, and the federal Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. Sharjah's and Ras Al Khaimah's authorities also approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, so the emirate regulator's role goes beyond inspection.

KHDA inspects annually on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak and publishes the report. For a science parent the limitation is that judgements aggregate across phases and subject groups, so the headline band says little about whether the IGCSE science team is strong or whether it is one teacher covering three specifications. Read the secondary science commentary specifically, and ask the school how many teachers cover each science at IGCSE.

The market around Sobha Hartland is growing rather than static. Dubai had 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25 offering 17 different curricula, with UK curriculum schools at 37% of enrolment, Indian at 26%, American at 14% and International Baccalaureate at 7%, per Dubai Media Office figures. The 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places; six opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6%.

On cost context, KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not increase for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For a family weighing science tuition against the rest of the education budget, a flat fee year is the first time in a while that decision can be made without a simultaneous fee rise to absorb. IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, MoE, IB, Cambridge or Pearson approval, accreditation, licensing or partnership of any kind.

Starting, and what we tell you about the slot before you pay

  • Start with the school, the drive and the heaviest homework evenings
  • Trial the real slot, not a convenient one, so a bad time shows up free
  • Free trial lesson with no card and no obligation to continue
  • If a science is uncovered in your slot you get a date, not a substitute
  • Form data is used only to make a match and deleted on request

The sequence is short and starts with the clock. Tell us which school, how long the pickup run takes, which evenings carry the heaviest homework, and which of the three sciences is furthest behind. We propose a tutor and a slot that fits that picture rather than one that fits our diary. You take a free trial lesson with no payment and no card, at the time you would actually use.

That last point matters more than it sounds. A trial run at a convenient Saturday morning tells you whether the teaching is good and nothing about whether a Tuesday at 4.30pm works for your child after a drive from Al Quoz. We would rather you trialled the real slot and discovered it is too early, because then we move it before anybody has paid for a term of half-attention.

Where tutors are based is a fair question with a public answer. Our science specialists work across the UAE and India and sessions run in your time zone. Nobody travels to a UAE address. There is no IB Gram office, centre or branch in the Emirates, and the conversion path here is a UAE-appropriate enquiry form and a free trial rather than an overseas phone number, which two ranking competitors use on UAE pages. If no specialist covers a particular science in your slot, we tell you the date it changes rather than substituting a generalist.

On data: the form collects your child's name, year group, school and the subject needing help, because a match and a realistic slot cannot be proposed without them. It is used for that and nothing else, and it can be deleted on request. The privacy notice is linked from every page, consistent with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection.

Where we tutor

The school run from Sobha Hartland, area by area

What follows is the geography that actually decides your session time. These are the communities Sobha Hartland families drive to and from, noted for what each one does to the end of the school day and to the first realistic slot of the evening.

Sobha Hartland

Two international schools inside the masterplan and a single main access off Al Ain Road. For families attending one of them, a walk or a five-minute drive makes a 4pm start genuinely workable, which is rare in Dubai.

Mohammed Bin Rashid City

Immediately adjacent, sharing the same school options and the Meydan approach roads. Villa plots spread the catchment, so pickup from the same school takes noticeably longer than for a Sobha Hartland resident.

Meydan and Nad Al Sheba

Two established schools in low-density villa country. The drive looks short on a map and is unpredictable at pickup, which is the usual reason a fixed in-home slot collapses in this corridor.

Al Jaddaf and Culture Village

An IB continuum school drawing from across the creek. Crossing to it from Sobha Hartland is quick outside peak and slow inside it, so afternoon sessions here are best booked after 5pm.

Al Quoz and Al Quoz 4

Several large British and Indian-curriculum schools. The run from Sobha Hartland crosses Al Khail Road, which adds the least predictable twenty minutes in this whole catchment, so 5.30pm is the honest first slot.

Al Garhoud

Reached via the creek crossings, serving families who chose a school before moving to Sobha Hartland. The return leg lands late enough that a weekday session before 6pm is rarely worth booking.

Business Bay

Dense apartments with no large school inside the district, so siblings commute in different directions. Household timetables diverge more here than anywhere else in this corridor, which is why staggered slots matter.

Downtown Dubai

A short hop across the creek side of Al Khail. Parents frequently work within walking distance of home, so an adult being present at a 5pm session is more realistic here than in commuter communities.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Sobha Hartland

Schools inside and beside Sobha Hartland

These are the schools a Sobha Hartland family can reach without crossing a major interchange, which is why families move here. A short run is the single biggest factor in whether an early evening tuition slot survives the term.

  • Hartland International School
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Kent College Dubai
  • GEMS Modern Academy
  • Swiss International Scientific School Dubai

Schools across Al Khail and the creek

Reached by Sobha Hartland families who chose the school before the neighbourhood, or who need a specific curriculum. Each of these adds twenty to forty minutes to the afternoon, which moves the first workable session into the evening.

  • Deira International School
  • Credence High School
  • JSS Private School
  • GEMS Our Own Indian School
  • Horizon English School
  • Safa British School

Schools are named to describe the private-school market around Sobha Hartland. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any school named on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Map the week before the syllabus

Which school, how long the pickup run takes, which evenings carry heavy homework, and whether a sibling's timetable competes. Ten minutes on this prevents the most common failure, which is a good tutor in an unusable slot.

  2. 02

Name the science that is furthest behind

Not the hardest one. Bring the last two reports and a marked paper if you have them. Biology, chemistry and physics fail for different reasons, and the plan differs depending on which, so this is where a diagnosis starts.

  3. 03

    Trial the actual slot, free

A free lesson at the time you intend to use, not at a convenient weekend hour. If the student arrives too tired for that slot to work, we both find out before any money moves and we move the slot.

  4. 04

Agree a rotation and a session count

Which science gets each week, driven by what is closest to an assessment rather than by turn-taking. The count is agreed up front and written down, and we say so if the diagnosis does not justify the hours you had in mind.

  5. 05

Protect the slot and move it when needed

Written notes after each session. Lessons move inside the same week when a mock, a trip or Ramadan reshapes the evening, rather than being lost, because nothing in the arrangement depends on a car.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The slot is designed before the syllabus

We ask which school, how long the drive is and which evenings carry homework before proposing anything. A tutor in an unusable slot is wasted money, and that is the most common way IGCSE science tuition fails in this corridor.

Both boards, by specification code

Cambridge 0610, 0620 and 0625 and Pearson Edexcel 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1, with past-paper practice matched to the specification your child actually sits. Research for these pages found exactly one syllabus code across a whole seven-page competitor area cluster.

The calendar is on the page

UAE candidates sit June and November with Cambridge and May/June and November with Pearson. The February-March series is India only, and a plan built around it is built for the wrong country. No competitor page in the research names a series at all.

Sessions move, they do not vanish

A mock week, a family trip or Ramadan reshapes the evening and the lesson moves inside the same week. Over two years of IGCSE that is a large number of recovered sessions, and it only works because no tutor is driving anywhere.

Prices with their sources

Market AED bands with the publisher and the date, including which band is right for which year group and which is overkill. Three of the six strongest pages for this query publish no price at all.

Claims we do not make

No regulator or board approval, no school partnerships, no guaranteed grades, no self-asserted ratings, and no statistic without its source and date. Everything checkable on this page links to the body that published it.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Sobha Hartland: your questions answered

What time can a science session realistically start after the Sobha Hartland school run?+

It depends entirely on which school. For a family attending one of the schools inside the Sobha Hartland masterplan, pickup is a five to ten minute hop and a 4pm or 4.15pm start works. For a run to Mohammed Bin Rashid City or Meydan, 4.45pm is the honest first option. Crossing Al Khail Road to Al Quoz pushes it to 5.30pm, and Al Garhoud to around 6pm. Booking earlier than those windows does not gain a family teaching time; it converts a paid hour into forty minutes of tired attention.

My child does three separate sciences. How should we split tuition time between them?+

Not evenly. Drive the rotation by what is closest to an assessment and by where the remaining content sits, not by which science feels hardest. Biology is the widest and most memory-dependent, so it rewards early spaced coverage. Chemistry concentrates its difficulty in multi-step mole calculation, which is a technique block rather than a long slog. Physics difficulty is frequently an algebra problem wearing a physics label, which a diagnosis catches in one session. One protected weekly slot that rotates by need beats three fragmented ones.

Does a science tutor come to our home in Sobha Hartland?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; nobody travels to an address in Sobha Hartland, Mohammed Bin Rashid City or elsewhere in the Emirates. Home visiting is a service we run in India only. UAE lessons are one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time. For the school run specifically that is the point: a tutor driving between bookings offers the slot their route allows, while an online tutor offers the slot your child can actually use, and a missed lesson moves to the next evening rather than the next week.

How do I find out whether my child sits Cambridge or Edexcel science?+

Ask the school directly, and ask for the specification code rather than the board name. Cambridge sciences are 0610 Biology, 0620 Chemistry and 0625 Physics, each tiered Core and Extended. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE sciences are 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1. The code matters because past-paper practice from the wrong specification wastes the student's time and can teach content that is not examinable. While you are asking, also ask which tier each science is entered for, since Core caps the available grade.

Does the February-March exam series apply to a student in Dubai?+

No. The Cambridge February and March series is offered to India only. UAE candidates sit the June series, with November as the resit route, and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. Any revision plan built around a February-March window is built for the wrong country, which is worth checking if a provider has given you one. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that using the wrong zone timetable risks a missed exam, so ask your school which zone it is in.

How does the practical component work if lessons are online?+

On most IGCSE science routes the practical skills are assessed through a written alternative-to-practical paper rather than a timed laboratory examination, so the examinable skill is interpreting an experiment on paper. That means identifying independent and dependent variables, spotting a flaw in a stated method, reading a scale or instrument correctly, explaining an anomalous result and suggesting an improvement. All of that is taught perfectly well online. The hands-on laboratory work continues at your child's school, where the apparatus and the supervising teacher are.

Do mandatory Arabic and Islamic Education lessons affect how we plan science revision?+

Yes, more than most plans allow for. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in every Dubai private school regardless of the licensed curriculum. KHDA calculates the instructional time on a 40-minute lesson unit and advises no mandatory lesson run shorter than 25 minutes. Those lessons and their homework occupy real space in a Year 11 week. A revision plan assuming five free evenings is planning for a week your child does not have, so we build around three and ask which carry the heaviest load.

How does the Ramadan timetable change a weekly science session in Sobha Hartland?+

Yes, and most families ask for it. School hours shorten during Ramadan and the household day reorganises around Iftar, which makes a late-afternoon session impractical and a post-Iftar session straightforward. Because nobody is travelling to your address, shifting the slot requires no change to anyone's route and can be arranged for the period and then reversed. The same flexibility covers family travel: sessions continue from wherever you are, in your time zone, rather than pausing for six weeks and arriving in September with the gap untouched.

What should we pay for IGCSE science tuition in Dubai?+

It depends which band the diagnosis points to, and sometimes the cheapest band is correct. Budget online tuition runs from about AED 45 an hour, with EdFlik from AED 45 to AED 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to AED 52, which is adequate for Years 7 to 9 homework structure. Qualified subject tutors online sit at AED 150 to AED 300, Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150, and that is the right band for most Year 10 and 11 work. Specialists run AED 200 to AED 450 or more. Those are market figures read in October 2026, not IB Gram's prices.

For a Year 11 science student, is a single 90-minute slot or two shorter ones the better buy?+

For a Year 11 in the spring term, two short sessions usually beat one long one, and the cost for the same hours is identical. Attention for a student who has done a full school day plus a drive is typically good for 45 to 60 minutes and poor after 90. Two 45 or 60-minute sessions placed on the two evenings the child arrives home earliest lose far less of the paid time. One longer session is the better shape when the school run is long and defending a single evening is already hard.

Which IGCSE science causes the most trouble for students in this part of Dubai?+

Physics generates the most enquiries from Sobha Hartland families, and in a large share of cases the underlying problem is mathematics rather than physics. Rearranging formulae, standard form, ratio and reading a graph gradient all appear in physics papers, and weakness there reads as a physics problem on a report card. Chemistry comes second, concentrated in multi-step mole calculation. Biology generates fewer enquiries but more surprise grades, because content breadth punishes a late sprint and students mistake familiarity with the material for recall under timed conditions.

When should we start if the papers are in the June series?+

Counted backwards, diagnosis belongs early in Year 10 while a tier decision is still open, content support across Year 10 and the autumn of Year 11, and paper technique plus the alternative-to-practical paper in the spring term before the series. School mocks sit in the Year 11 winter and are the best available diagnostic you will get for free. Starting in the final fortnight is still worth doing, but it is triage rather than teaching, and any provider implying otherwise is selling urgency rather than a plan.

My child missed a grade in June. How does a November resit block work?+

As a defined eight to twelve week block with an end date rather than an open commitment. The awkward part is the calendar: Pearson's November 2026 final timetable ran to 19 November 2026 and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, while June 2026 results went to students on 20 August 2026. So the decision is made within weeks of August results, and the work happens while the student is also starting a new course. That is a scheduling problem first, which is why a slot that can move inside the week matters.

Do we need a tutor at all, or is the school's own support enough?+

Try the school first, and most families do not. School support sessions are usually free to enrolled students and run by the department that sets the internal assessments and knows the paper timetable. Ask what exists for senior science. The second free option is structured independent practice using the school's own past-paper access with a weekly plan attached. If a diagnosis concludes that the problem is workload or scheduling rather than science, those two work better than paid hours, and we will say so when that is what we see.

What does a school's KHDA inspection band tell us about its science teaching?+

Less than parents expect. KHDA inspects Dubai private schools annually on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak and publishes a report, but the judgements aggregate across phases and subject groups. A school rated Outstanding may have one teacher covering three IGCSE science specifications; a school rated Good may have a deep science department. Read the secondary science commentary specifically rather than the headline band, then ask the school how many teachers cover each science and which tier each is entered for.

Can one tutor cover all three sciences for the same student?+

Often yes at IGCSE, and it is usually efficient because one tutor can see which science is drifting and rotate towards it without anybody coordinating. The question to ask is which of the three they have taught to the end of a specification and which they are covering competently. Where a single tutor stops being the right answer is Extended-tier chemistry calculation or physics algebra sitting alongside a weak mathematics grade, because that needs the mathematics addressed directly rather than worked around inside a science hour.

Fix the slot first, then the science

IGCSE science support in this neighbourhood succeeds or fails on whether the session lands in a window your child can actually use. So tell us the school, the length of the pickup run and which evenings are already full, and we will propose a slot built around that rather than around a diary. Then take a free trial lesson at that exact time, so if it turns out to be twenty minutes too early you find out before paying for a term. Both boards, all three sciences, one-to-one and live online in Gulf Standard Time.
