IB IGCSE Tuition near me in the UAE

Search IB IGCSE tuition near me from a villa in Khalifa City or an apartment in Dubai Marina and the results list whoever paid for the postcode, not whoever knows your child's syllabus. IB Gram answers the question differently. Lessons run one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time around a UAE school day, matched to the board your child is actually entered with anywhere in the UAE. The calendar, not the distance, decides what a tutor can still change.

IB & IGCSE in the UAE

Distance is the one variable that stopped mattering

A parent typing IB IGCSE tuition near me is usually answering a practical question: who can reach us, and when. That question made sense in 2015, when a tutor's reach was the radius of a car journey after Maghrib. It makes much less sense now. The binding constraint on a UAE tutoring plan is not kilometres. It is the date printed on an examination timetable, and the number of teaching weeks left between tonight and that date. Those weeks are the resource that runs out.

This page is built on that arithmetic. It sets out the IGCSE and IB Diploma years as two calendars that share one household, names the entry deadlines and results dates the boards themselves publish, and counts backwards from each of them. Where a date is sourced, the source is named. Where a date is not verifiable, the page says so rather than inventing one, because a wrong date on a revision plan costs a family far more than a missing one.

The delivery model is simple and worth stating before anything else. IB Gram matches students to specialist tutors and lessons run one-to-one over live video. Home visits are part of what IB Gram offers in India; they are not offered anywhere in the Emirates. That is a deliberate choice rather than a limitation. A family in Al Reef looking for a Chemistry HL specialist should not be restricted to the handful of people who happen to live within a twenty-minute drive of Al Reef.

There is a second reason the online format suits this particular search. Most UAE households running both boards at once need two tutors on two different timetables, often for two children with different school-day end times. Matching that by geography means compromising on subject depth. Matching it by syllabus and by available slot means the Year 11 Cambridge Physics hour and the DP2 Maths Analysis hour can sit in the same evening without anyone getting into a car.

What follows is organised as a countdown rather than a brochure. The series tables come first, then the handover between IGCSE results and the first Diploma year, then the daily clock, the market rates other providers publish in AED, the coursework ceilings and who owns each internal deadline, the examination-zone trap that catches private candidates, and the Ministry of Education equivalency file that should be opened before results day rather than after it.

One more thing is worth saying at the top, because it shapes every number below. The rates quoted on this page are what other UAE providers have published, each attributed and dated. They are not IB Gram's price list. A figure quoted before anyone knows the subject, the level, the board and how many teaching weeks remain is a guess with a currency symbol in front of it, and a family comparing quotes deserves a reference band rather than a sales number.

At a glance

  • Entries for the June series close in the spring, months before the first paper, and the date is held by your centre rather than by Cambridge
  • Pearson released June 2026 International GCSE results to centres on 19 August and to students on 20 August 2026
  • No IB session or results date is published on this page; ibo.org blocks automated checking, so confirm with your school's coordinator
  • Every Cambridge centre sits in one of six administrative zones, and the wrong zone timetable is the candidate's problem, not the board's
  • Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track counts five IGCSE subjects, and Arabic and Islamic education are not among them
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three programmes account for almost every enquiry that starts as a search for IB IGCSE tuition near me: the IGCSE years themselves, the Middle Years Programme that feeds the Diploma in IB schools, and the Diploma. Each runs on its own clock, and the interesting work is at the joins between them.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Two years, eight or nine subjects, and almost all the marks sat in written papers at the end. Cambridge runs a June series and a November series for UAE centres; Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. The two boards use different codes for the same subject, different paper structures and, in Pearson's case, a modular option that Cambridge does not mirror. The grade a student leaves Year 11 with sets the Diploma routes that remain open.

In the UAE the choice of board is made by the school and by the examination centre, not by the family, so the first question in any IGCSE tuition conversation here is which code appears on the entry: 0580 or 4MA1, 0625 or 4PH1. Centres also decide which practical route a science subject takes, and that decision changes what a tutor should be practising.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

IB Middle Years Programme

The MYP assesses against criteria rather than against a paper, which changes what a strong student looks like on paper. MYP 5 students in UAE IB schools sit no external IGCSE unless the school chooses to enter them, so the first fully external examination many of them meet is a Diploma paper two years later. Criterion-referenced marking is excellent training for Internal Assessment work and poor training for timed recall under pressure.

Several UAE schools run MYP alongside an IGCSE cohort in the same year group, so siblings in one household can be assessed in two completely different ways at the same age. Where that happens, the useful tuition work in MYP 5 is building examination stamina and timed technique before DP1 starts, rather than more criterion practice.

DPAges 16-19 · DP1-DP2

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects at Higher or Standard Level, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS. Internal components are marked by the school and moderated by the IB, and their deadlines are set by the school rather than by the board, which is why two children in the same city can face the same Internal Assessment four months apart. UAE schools overwhelmingly enter candidates for the May session.

Diploma candidates in the UAE sit papers while Ramadan, Eid and the National Day break move around the academic year, so the usable revision weeks are not evenly spaced. Counting the real teaching weeks between now and the May session, rather than the calendar months, is the single most useful thing a parent can do in DP1 and it is where most planning conversations here start.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

These are the IB Diploma subjects UAE families most often put under one-to-one tuition, with what the examiner is actually testing and where marks tend to go. Matching is done by subject and level, so a Physics HL request is not filled by a general science tutor.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The route most UAE engineering and economics applicants need. HL adds proof, deeper calculus and a demanding Paper 3. Marks are lost on unjustified steps rather than on arithmetic: an answer with no visible reasoning scores the answer mark and nothing else. The exploration is a separate skill again, assessed against criteria the student can read in advance.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and technology use, with a graphical calculator assumed throughout. Students who choose it to avoid proof often underestimate the statistical inference at HL. Common losses are interpretation marks: the calculation is right, the sentence explaining what the number means in context is missing, and that sentence is where the mark sits.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics and fields reward precise definitions; the rest rewards unit discipline. Where students lose marks is in extended explanation questions, where a correct idea is written in two words instead of the three steps the mark scheme wants. The internal investigation needs a measurable, controllable variable chosen early, not a topic chosen because it sounds interesting.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Bonding and energetics early, organic mechanisms and equilibrium later, and a steady demand for mole arithmetic under time pressure. HL deepens almost every topic rather than adding new ones. The investigation needs an uncertainty treatment that is planned before the first measurement, because uncertainty cannot be reconstructed afterwards from a results table.

Biology

HL and SL

Volume of recall plus a demanding data-analysis paper. Students who revise by rereading notes plateau quickly; those who practise command terms separately move. Outline, explain, distinguish and evaluate each earn marks differently, and treating them as synonyms is the most common single cause of lost marks across both levels.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams carry marks in their own right: axes labelled, curves named, the shift shown and the new equilibrium marked. Evaluation is the separating skill at HL, where a judgement has to be supported rather than asserted. The internal portfolio commentaries need real published articles and a tight word discipline.

Business Management

HL and SL

Tool application rather than tool recall. A student who can draw a decision tree but cannot say what the result means for the firm in the case study scores poorly. HL adds depth in operations and finance. The internal work requires primary or secondary research chosen with the assessment criteria in view from the start.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Unseen analysis, the individual oral and, at HL, an essay on a studied text. The oral is a global-issue argument built on two extracts and it is often the component UAE students prepare last and should prepare first. Marks come from sustained analysis of technique, not from summary of content.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Half theory, half programming logic, with a solution project that has to document a real client need. Students lose marks by building something impressive and documenting it thinly. HL adds abstract data structures and a case study released each year, which needs reading as a set text rather than skimming.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IGCSE side of the same household runs on syllabus codes. These are the subjects most often requested across UAE centres, with the code a parent should check on the entry before the first lesson.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580 / Pearson 4MA1)

Core and Extended, or Foundation and Higher

Tiered, and the tier decision sets the grade ceiling before any revision begins. Cambridge 0580 carries no coursework, so every mark is sat in written papers. Marks go on method presentation and on unrounded working, and a Cambridge IGCSE tutor should be marking timed papers rather than teaching topics in isolation by the final term.

Physics (Cambridge 0625 / Pearson 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Electricity and waves produce the widest spread of marks in UAE classrooms. The practical route matters: a centre entering Paper 5 needs apparatus practice, while Paper 6 needs the alternative-to-practical skills of reading scales, spotting anomalies and describing a method precisely enough to be repeated.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620 / Pearson 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Moles, electrolysis and organic families. Extended asks for calculation that Core does not, and the step up between tiers is steeper here than in most subjects. Equation balancing under time pressure, and state symbols, account for a surprising number of lost marks that revision rarely targets directly.

Biology (Cambridge 0610 / Pearson 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Large recall load with precise terminology. Transport in plants, enzymes and inheritance recur in every series. Students who write around a term instead of using it lose the mark, so vocabulary drilling pays more here than extra content coverage in the last eight weeks before a series.

English Language (Cambridge 0500 / Pearson 4EA1)

First Language

Directed writing and extended response, assessed on reading comprehension and on writing accuracy in parallel. The directed task fails most often on audience and form rather than on content. Timing is the other frequent loss: a strong first answer and an unfinished second answer scores worse than two complete middling ones.

Business Studies and Economics (Cambridge 0450 / 0455)

Core and Extended

Case-study comprehension as much as subject knowledge. Candidates who answer in general terms rather than about the business in front of them lose application marks. Calculation questions on ratios and break-even are reliable marks that go missing when working is not shown line by line.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats cover almost every plan that starts as a search for IB IGCSE tuition near me. All three run one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time, and all three are chosen against the examination date rather than against a package length.

Weekly one-to-one, split by board

The default for a household running IGCSE and the Diploma at once. One hour per subject per week, each hour owned by a tutor matched to that syllabus code, with the two children's slots deliberately placed in different parts of the evening. Content is sequenced to arrive before the school teaches it where there is time, and to repair it where there is not.

  • One tutor per subject and level, not one tutor for a household
  • Slot fixed to the school day, not to the tutor's convenience
  • Written note after each session naming what was covered and what is next
  • Board and syllabus code confirmed from the entry before the first lesson

A dated revision block

Booked backwards from a specific series rather than open-ended. The block starts by establishing where the marks currently go, using a returned mock or a timed paper, then allocates the remaining weeks to the topics with the most recoverable marks. The last fortnight is reserved for full papers under examination conditions, because nothing new can be learned there.

  • Diagnostic timed paper first, topic plan second
  • Weeks allocated by recoverable marks, not by syllabus order
  • Final fortnight reserved for complete papers against the clock
  • Reviewed at the halfway point and reallocated if the pattern has changed

Internal assessment and coursework process coaching

Structured conversations about the student's own work: narrowing a research question, testing whether a variable is measurable, reading one draft and commenting against the published criteria. A tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback. A tutor produces no part of an assessed submission, and that line is explained to the student in the first session rather than assumed.

  • Criteria read together before the student starts, not after
  • Research question narrowed until it is answerable in the word limit
  • Feedback given on the student's own text, never written over it
  • School's internal deadline, not the board's, used as the planning date

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in the UAE

01

What a search for IB IGCSE tuition near me actually returns

  • Proximity sorts a tutor list by travel time, which is not a measure of subject fit
  • Two boards in one household means two specialists on two timetables
  • Live video removes the drive radius without changing the school-day clock
  • Delivery format is stated before any plan is discussed, not after a deposit

A search for IB IGCSE tuition near me in the UAE returns three kinds of result: agencies buying the location term, centres with premises in one community, and freelance tutors listing a drive radius. None of those three is sorted by whether anyone in the list has taught your child's syllabus code at the level required. The ranking is by marketing spend and proximity. The thing a parent actually needs is sorted by neither.

IB Gram answers the same search with one-to-one tuition delivered over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time. Home visits are part of what IB Gram offers in India and are not offered anywhere in the Emirates. That is stated here early and plainly so no family discovers it late. The trade being made is explicit: you give up a tutor in the room, and in exchange the pool you are choosing from stops being everyone within a twenty-minute drive and starts being everyone who teaches that subject at that level.

For a single-board household that trade is debatable. For the household this page is written for, running IGCSE tuition in the UAE for one child and IB Diploma Programme tuition for another, it is not close. Two specialists on two different timetables cannot both live nearby, and compromising on subject depth to keep the geography tidy is how a Year 11 Physics plan ends up in the hands of someone who last taught 0625 four series ago.

02

Two boards on one kitchen calendar

The hardest thing about running IGCSE and the Diploma in the same house is not the content. It is that the two calendars peak at the same time and nobody publishes them together. A Pearson November paper is sat in the same fortnight as a Diploma mock. The spring entry confirmation for the June series falls in the same weeks as the final Internal Assessment versions. Families meet these collisions one at a time, as surprises, because nobody laid the two years side by side in advance.

The table below does that. It is built from dates the boards publish themselves, and where a date belongs to the IB it is left as a coordinator question rather than filled in, because ibo.org blocks automated checking and an unverified examination date on a revision plan is worse than no date at all. Read it as a planning document: the right-hand column is the only one that describes what a tutor should be doing in that month.

Two patterns show up every year. The first is that the months with the most collisions, November and February, are also the months when families start looking for help, which is the latest useful moment rather than the earliest. The second is that the handover summer between IGCSE results and the start of DP1 is almost always left empty, and it is the cheapest eleven weeks of the entire two-board sequence. Nothing is being examined in those weeks, so nothing has to be rescued in them either, and work done there is the only work in the whole two years that costs no other deadline anything.

Picking the series, and what each one does to the year

Most UAE Year 11 cohorts sit a June series, but that is a default rather than a rule, and the alternatives change the shape of the year substantially. Cambridge International runs IGCSE and O Level examinations in a June series and a November series; the February/March series is offered to India only and is not available to a UAE candidate. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations are available in May/June and November each year. A retake, a late arrival into the UAE or a January school start can all make a non-June series the better choice.

The planning consequence is that the entry deadline, not the paper, is the date that constrains a family. Count the June series backwards and the shape is clear: papers in May and June, revision blocks from March, forecast grades submitted by the centre before that, and the final entry list closed in the spring, roughly four months ahead of the first paper. That entry date is held by the school's examinations officer rather than published as one national deadline, and the exact day appears on the statement of entry. The November route is the one with a published window: Pearson's November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. A family that starts deciding in the spring which subjects to enter has usually already missed the only date that mattered.

For the Diploma, this page publishes no session or results date. The IB's own site returns an error to automated checking, so nothing in this project is confirmed from the IB itself, and secondary sources disagree. The honest planning instruction is to treat the May session as the one UAE schools sit, and to get the exact window and results date from your school's Diploma coordinator, who holds the registration anyway.

The eleven-week handover from IGCSE results to the first Diploma lesson

Pearson released June 2026 International GCSE results to students on 20 August 2026. DP1 in most UAE schools starts in the first days of September. That gap is the one stretch of the two-board sequence with no examination pressure in it, and it is almost universally wasted. Families treat it as a holiday, which it should partly be, and then DP1 term one arrives with three subject gaps and an unfamiliar assessment vocabulary at the same time.

The useful work in those weeks is narrow and finite. It is not pre-teaching the Diploma syllabus. It is closing the two or three specific places where IGCSE content stops short of where DP1 begins, and learning how Diploma work is actually judged before anything is judged. Chemistry is the clearest example: 0620 covers moles, but DP1 opens on quantitative chemistry and bonding at a depth the IGCSE never reaches, and a student who meets that in week three of term is already behind.

The second piece of handover work is vocabulary. IGCSE marking rewards an answer; Diploma marking rewards an answer presented against a criterion. A student who has never read a criterion descriptor cannot aim at one. Reading the criteria for one subject, with a tutor, before DP1 starts is a two-hour job that pays back across two years, and it costs nothing in a week where no other deadline exists. The student who has seen a criterion descriptor in August writes a different first draft in November from the student meeting one for the first time under a deadline.

05

Proximity, the four o'clock problem and Gulf Standard Time

The real argument for a tutor nearby was never geography. It was the clock. A UAE school day that ends between 14:30 and 15:30, a bus journey, and a parent back from work at 18:30 leave a narrow band of hours in which a session can happen at all, and a visiting tutor's travel time eats into it from both ends. Removing the journey does not add hours to the evening, but it does stop the two ends of the slot being negotiable.

What matters more is which hour gets used for what. Online IB tuition in Gulf Standard Time can be placed precisely, which means the slot can be chosen for the task rather than for the drive. A returned paper is worth going through within an hour of the school day ending, while the student still remembers the questions. A full timed paper is worth a weekend morning and is close to worthless at 20:00 on a Wednesday. Most families discover this by accident in DP2.

Ramadan moves the whole structure, and it moves it predictably enough to plan for. Sessions shift later in the evening, often after Iftar, and the school day compresses. Families who decide in advance which subject keeps its slot and which pauses come out of the month with a plan intact. Families who improvise lose four weeks, which in a DP2 spring is the difference between a finished revision block and an abandoned one.

What tuition within driving distance costs, and what the market actually publishes

The striking thing about this search is how few providers answer it. Of the UAE tutoring pages reviewed for this project in October 2026, one competitor's own frequently-asked-questions section asks what tutoring costs and then declines to answer. Another publishes a price range in its page markup that contradicts the figure printed on the page itself. The rates below are what providers have published, each attributed to the provider and dated, so a parent can price the market before speaking to anyone.

These are market figures, not IB Gram's. They are here because a parent comparing quotes needs a reference band, and because the single largest hidden variable in a quote from a visiting tutor is whether the drive is inside the hour or billed beside it. A tutor quoting AED 250 for sixty minutes and arriving forty minutes late from another community in Dubai has quoted a different product from a tutor giving sixty taught minutes over video.

The monthly packages seen across these pages run from around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions to AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour visits in the home. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 estimates for a weekly one-hour session put a budget plan at AED 240 to 600 a month, a mid-range plan at AED 600 to 1,200, and a specialist examination-year plan at AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above. For IB Gram's own plan, the honest answer is a trial lesson and a conversation about the series date rather than a number on a page.

Coursework ceilings, deadline owners and the line a tutor does not cross

Internal components are where a two-board household is most exposed, because the deadlines are set by schools rather than by boards and therefore differ between two children in the same city. The IB publishes the ceiling for each component and the criteria it is marked against. The school decides when the draft is due, when the final version is due, and how many rounds of feedback sit between them. Planning against the board's calendar instead of the school's is the most common scheduling mistake in DP1.

The second exposure is honesty, and it is worth being blunt because this part of the search results is genuinely unsafe. At least one provider ranking for UAE IB queries sells finished Internal Assessments. Submitting one is malpractice under IB rules and the consequence falls on the student, not on the seller. A tutor teaches the subject, questions the research design, reads a draft and comments against the published criteria. A tutor produces no part of an assessed submission, and that boundary is explained to the student at the start.

On the IGCSE side the shape is different. Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580 carries no coursework at all, so every mark is sat in a written paper. The sciences carry a practical requirement whose route is chosen by the centre: a Paper 5 practical test needs apparatus work, while a Paper 6 alternative to practical needs scale reading, anomaly spotting and method description. A tutor who does not know which route the centre entered is practising the wrong skill.

Examination zones, centres and the timetable version that matters

  • Six Cambridge administrative zones, each with its own timetable version
  • The timetable comes from the centre's examinations officer, in writing
  • Private candidates meet the centre's deadline, which sits before the board's
  • Confirm the practical route for each science subject at the same time

This is the most expensive small detail in the IGCSE year and almost nobody mentions it. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, and its own guidance to examinations officers is unambiguous: it is essential that the correct version of the timetable for the zone is used, and Cambridge cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after the wrong zone's timetable was used. A parent downloading a timetable from a search result has roughly a one in six chance of holding the right one.

The practical instruction is short. Get the timetable from your child's examinations officer, not from a search engine, and confirm the zone in writing. Then build the revision plan on those dates. A plan built on a neighbouring zone's timetable can be wrong by several days on individual papers, which is enough to put a final revision session after the paper it was meant to prepare.

Private candidates face a longer version of the same problem, because they have no examinations officer. A student sitting as a private candidate has to find a centre willing to accept external entries, meet that centre's own deadline rather than the board's, and pay the centre's fee alongside the entry fee. Those arrangements are made months ahead. For a family arriving mid-year in the UAE, the centre search is the first task and the tutoring is the second, because a brilliantly prepared candidate with no centre to sit in has nothing to sit.

The Ministry of Education equivalency file, opened before results day

Equivalency is the deadline no two-board household counts backwards from, and it is the one that affects what a certificate is worth inside the UAE. The Ministry of Education's clarification of equivalency requirements, reported in July 2026, sets out the British track precisely: five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade.

Two details inside that matter more than the headline. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects, which changes the counting for a large number of UAE candidates. And the figure is five, not six. One provider currently ranking for UAE IGCSE queries publishes a requirement of six subjects; the sourced figure in the ministry's clarification is five. Getting that wrong at subject-choice time in Year 9 is expensive to fix in Year 11.

On the American track the same clarification gives English proficiency as a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, with mathematics requiring at least 450 in the SAT Maths test before applying. For the IB Diploma, no points threshold is published here, because none has been read on the ministry's own site. Verify it on moe.gov.ae. IB Gram describes this process and points to the official channel; it does not perform, submit or guarantee any part of it.

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies: the third timetable

  • Mandatory in all Dubai private schools whatever the licensed curriculum
  • Separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs; combined classes are prohibited
  • Instructional time counted in forty-minute units, with twenty-five minutes the advised floor
  • Additional or different content needs prior Ministry of Education permission

Every household running IB and IGCSE in Dubai is also running a third set of subjects, and it is the set least discussed by tutoring providers. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA's requirements were to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year, or April 2026 for schools whose year begins in April. These subjects sit alongside the examined curriculum, not inside it.

The rules around them are specific enough to plan against. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and combined classes for the two groups are strictly prohibited because the curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs and for Arabic as a first language. Instructional time is calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit, and KHDA advises that no mandatory-subject lesson runs shorter than twenty-five minutes.

Two consequences follow for tuition. First, for the mandatory subjects the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry of Education is strictly prohibited, so support here means working with the school's prescribed material rather than importing a syllabus. Second, schools are required to ensure that all teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic have appropriate KHDA approval to teach these subjects, which is a checkable credential and a reasonable question to ask of anyone offering help with them.

When no specialist is free in your week

Every tutoring provider implies infinite availability and none has it. The subjects where this bites are predictable: Further Pure Mathematics at IGCSE, Computer Science at Higher Level, Economics at Higher Level in a narrow evening window, and any Diploma subject needed at 15:30 on a weekday by a family in Fujairah. A platform that answers every such request immediately with a yes is either very large or not telling you something.

The honest sequence is this. A request is matched against tutors who teach that subject at that level, in that board, in a slot that fits. If more than one fits, the family sees a choice. If exactly one fits, the family is told that. If none fits, the family is told that too, with the realistic wait and the alternatives: a different slot, a different week, a broader subject specialist for the content gap while a specialist is found, or a recommendation to look elsewhere if the wait is longer than the calendar allows.

That last option is said out loud because of the dates at the top of this page. A family eight weeks from a June series cannot wait three weeks for a perfect match, and a provider that holds the enquiry rather than saying so has spent weeks that belonged to the student. The trial lesson exists for the same reason: it is a check on fit before money changes hands, not a sales appointment, and a family that ends it with a no has lost an hour rather than a term.

Where we tutor

Where IB and IGCSE families are, emirate by emirate

A search for tuition near me means something different in each emirate, because each one has its own regulator, its own school density and its own school-run timings. What stays constant is the examination series, which is why a plan built on the calendar travels between them.

Dubai

The largest market by a wide margin: 227 private schools and 387,441 students in 2024-25, with seventeen curricula licensed and the International Baccalaureate accounting for seven per cent of enrolment. KHDA regulates it, and the 2026-27 intake adds seven schools and 16,846 places.

Abu Dhabi

Regulated by ADEK, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar school staff from paid private tutoring of students at their own school, so the tutor a family hires here should be unconnected to the child's classroom.

Sharjah

The Sharjah Private Education Authority regulates private education in the emirate and approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Evening session timing matters here: a Sharjah-to-Dubai school commute can cost an hour each way and swallow the usable study slot.

Al Ain

Also under ADEK, with a smaller and more spread-out school network than the Abu Dhabi corniche cluster. Families here feel the specialist shortage first, because a niche Higher Level subject may have no local teacher at all. Online delivery removes that constraint without changing the timetable.

Ajman

Supervised by the federal Ministry of Education rather than by an emirate authority. Returns zero mentions across the competitor pages researched for this project, which tells you how little published guidance Ajman families have had about either board.

Ras Al Khaimah

The Department of Knowledge regulates private education in the emirate and, like Sharjah's authority, approves fees, curricula and assessment methods. Distances between communities are real here, which is exactly where a kilometre-based tutor search produces the thinnest result.

Fujairah

Under the Ministry of Education's supervision, on the east coast and two hours from the Dubai school cluster. For an IGCSE or Diploma family here, a drive-time tutor search returns almost nothing, and a live video lesson in Gulf Standard Time returns the specialist instead.

Umm Al Quwain

The smallest private-school market in the country and also Ministry-supervised. Families often commute into Sharjah or Ras Al Khaimah for school, which pushes the realistic start of a weekday tuition slot past 17:00 and makes weekend morning sessions disproportionately valuable.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in the UAE

Dubai

The densest IB and IGCSE cluster in the country, and the one where both boards most often appear in the same household. Students we support attend schools across this group, sitting Cambridge or Pearson papers in Year 11 and the Diploma above it. All are KHDA-regulated, and inspection reports for each are published by KHDA rather than by any tutoring provider.

  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Dubai College
  • Jumeirah College
  • Repton School Dubai
  • Kings' School Al Barsha
  • Dubai English Speaking College
  • JESS Arabian Ranches

Abu Dhabi and Al Ain

ADEK-regulated, and the emirate whose regulator is named by none of the competitor pages researched for this project. Students we support here run the same two-board pattern, often with a Year 11 sibling and a Diploma candidate in the same house. Session timing has to survive an Abu Dhabi commute, which is why slots are set around the school day rather than against it.

  • Cranleigh Abu Dhabi
  • Brighton College Abu Dhabi
  • Al Yasmina Academy
  • GEMS American Academy Abu Dhabi
  • Raha International School
  • Al Ain English Speaking School

Sharjah and the Northern Emirates

Regulated by SPEA in Sharjah, the Department of Knowledge in Ras Al Khaimah and the Ministry of Education in Ajman, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain. Specialist subject coverage thins out quickly north of Sharjah, which makes the fallback question in this cluster unavoidable: what happens when no tutor within reach teaches the subject at the level required.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Start from the date, not from the subject

The first question is which series or session your child is entered for, and which board. From that date the number of real teaching weeks is counted, allowing for Ramadan, the National Day break and school holidays. Everything after this is allocation of a known quantity of hours rather than an open-ended plan.

  2. 02

Confirm the board, the code and the route

Check the entry rather than assuming. Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel, 0580 or 4MA1, Core or Extended, Paper 5 practical or Paper 6 alternative to practical. For the Diploma, the subject, the level and the school's own internal deadlines. A tutor matched against the wrong code will practise the wrong paper structure.

  3. 03

Diagnose with a timed paper before teaching anything

One paper under timed conditions, marked question by question, shows where marks are going in a way that a school report cannot. The pattern matters more than the total: lost method marks, unfinished final questions and misread command terms each need a different response and a different number of weeks.

  4. 04

Take a trial lesson and check the fit

A single session with the matched tutor, over live video, before any commitment. The point is to see whether the student talks in it. A student who stays silent for an hour with a technically excellent tutor is not matched, and finding that out in session one is the difference between a plan and a wasted term.

  5. 05

Hold one slot and review at the halfway point

Sessions are placed in a fixed weekly slot chosen for the task, in Gulf Standard Time, and each is followed by a short written note. At the midpoint of the block the diagnostic is repeated and the remaining weeks are reallocated to whatever is still costing marks rather than to the original plan.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The calendar is the plan

Sessions are counted backwards from the series your child is entered for, using dates the boards publish. Where a date cannot be verified, it is left as a question for the coordinator instead of being filled in. A revision block built on an invented date is worse than no block at all.

Two boards, two specialists

A household running IGCSE for one child and the Diploma for another gets a tutor matched to each syllabus code, not one generalist covering both. The two slots are placed in different parts of the evening so neither child is tutored at the hour their attention is lowest.

Rates are attributed, not asserted

Every AED figure on this page is a published market rate with the provider and the month of reading attached. IB Gram's own position is a trial lesson and a conversation about the date, because a price quoted before anyone knows the subject, level and weeks remaining is a guess dressed as a quote.

The academic-honesty line is drawn in session one

A tutor teaches the subject, questions the research design, reads a draft and comments against the published criteria. A tutor produces no part of an assessed submission. That is stated to the student at the start, because the consequence of malpractice falls on the candidate and nobody else.

Availability is disclosed, including when the answer is no

If no tutor covers the subject at the level and in the slot required, the family is told, with a realistic wait and the alternatives. Where the wait is longer than the examination calendar allows, the right advice is to look elsewhere, and it is given.

Independent, with no regulator or board affiliation claimed

IB Gram is a tutor-matching platform. It holds no accreditation from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and claims none. Regulators and boards are named on this page to explain what they do and where to verify a fact, never to imply an endorsement.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in the UAE: your questions answered

Is there an IB and IGCSE tutor near me in the UAE, or do lessons have to be online?+

Lessons with IB Gram are delivered one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time around a UAE school day. Home visits are part of what IB Gram offers in India and are not offered anywhere in the Emirates. The UAE market does have visiting tutors, and published rates for that format run roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel often outside the quoted hour. The trade is straightforward: you give up a tutor in the room and choose from everyone who teaches that subject at that level, rather than from whoever lives within a short drive of your community.

We have one child in Year 11 IGCSE and another in DP1 — can one plan cover both?+

One calendar, two tutors. The calendar is shared because the collisions are the problem: a November series paper and a Diploma mock window land in the same month, and internal assessment deadlines land in the same weeks as the spring entry confirmation for the June series. The tutoring is split because the boards are different and one generalist covering both will be weaker at each. In practice the two weekly slots are deliberately placed in different parts of the evening, so neither child is being taught at the hour their concentration is lowest.

Which IGCSE exam series should my child sit, the June one or the November one?+

Most UAE Year 11 cohorts sit a June series and that is usually right. The only alternative open to a UAE candidate is November: Cambridge runs a June and a November series here, and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. There is no February or March option in this country, whatever a search result suggests, because Cambridge offers that series to India only. A November entry suits retakers, mid-year arrivals and students whose school year does not finish in June. Either way the decision is constrained by the entry deadline rather than by the paper, and that deadline is held by your centre and set months ahead of the first paper.

How far before the exam does the Cambridge entry deadline actually fall?+

Further ahead than most families expect. For both series a UAE candidate can sit, the entry list closes months before the first paper and the deadline is held by the centre rather than published as one national date, so the examinations officer is the person to ask and the statement of entry is where the day is confirmed. The published end of the chain gives a sense of the distance involved: Pearson's November 2026 timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026 and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, while June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August and to students on 20 August 2026. From entry list to certificate is most of an academic year, which is why a subject added late is the one that goes wrong.

What should we actually do in the weeks between IGCSE results and the start of DP1?+

Three things, and none of them is pre-teaching the Diploma syllabus. Read the results subject by subject rather than as an average, because a 6 in Extended Maths and a 6 in Physics carry different signals for Higher Level choices. Close the two or three specific gaps where IGCSE content stops short of DP1 term one, with Chemistry the usual example. Then read the assessment criteria for one subject with a tutor, so the student has seen how Diploma work is judged before any of it is judged. Pearson sent June 2026 results to students on 20 August 2026, which leaves about eleven weeks.

Does searching for tuition near me get us a better hourly rate in the UAE?+

Not reliably. Proximity sorts a list by travel time, which is unrelated to subject fit, and the local options that appear are not necessarily cheaper. Published UAE rates run from about AED 33 to 52 an hour at the budget online end, AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online, AED 180 to 500 for a visiting tutor in the home, and AED 500 to 650 and above at the premium end. Those figures were read from provider pages in October 2026 and are the market, not IB Gram's prices. The variable that moves a quote most is whether travel sits inside the hour.

What is a Cambridge exam zone, and why does it change my child's timetable?+

Cambridge allocates every examination centre to one of six administrative zones, and each zone has its own version of the timetable. Cambridge's guidance to examinations officers states that using the correct version for the zone is essential, and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after the wrong zone timetable was used. Practically, this means the timetable should come from your child's examinations officer in writing, not from a search result. A revision plan built on a neighbouring zone's dates can place a final session after the paper it was meant to prepare for.

Which months are worst for a household running both boards at once?+

November and February, by a clear margin. November puts November series papers and a DP2 mock window inside the same four weeks. February is when final internal assessment versions are submitted while the June entry list is being confirmed subject by subject at the centre. Those are also the two months in which families typically start looking for help, which makes them the latest useful moment rather than the earliest. The fix is unglamorous: in September, put every internal deadline from both schools onto one shared calendar, and protect one evening slot per child before anything is competing for it.

Are Arabic and Islamic education included in those five required subjects?+

No. The July 2026 clarification states that Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects for the GCSE and IGCSE count. That matters at subject-choice time in Year 9, because a student who assumes those two count towards the five can end Year 11 one accredited subject short. It does not reduce the importance of those subjects themselves: Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools whatever international curriculum the school is licensed to teach, and they run on their own timetable alongside the examined one.

Can a tutor help with an Internal Assessment without breaking IB honesty rules?+

Yes, within a clear boundary. A tutor can teach the subject content the investigation needs, question whether a research question is answerable in the word limit, test whether a variable is actually measurable, read one draft and comment against the published criteria. A tutor produces no part of an assessed submission and does not rewrite the student's text. At least one provider ranking for UAE IB searches sells finished Internal Assessments; submitting one is malpractice under IB rules and the consequence falls on the candidate. The boundary is explained to the student in the first session rather than assumed.

What time can lessons start if school finishes at half past two in Gulf Standard Time?+

Any slot from about 15:30 onwards, and the choice of slot should follow the task. The hour right after school is the best time to go through a returned paper, while the questions are still fresh, and the worst time to introduce new Higher Level content. Late afternoon suits teaching and worked examples. Early evening suits timed questions. Weekend mornings are the only slot where a complete past paper under examination conditions genuinely works. During Ramadan sessions shift later, often after Iftar, and deciding in advance which subject keeps its slot protects the month.

Is nine weeks before the first paper too late to start tuition?+

It is late, not too late, and the honest version is that the plan has to change shape. Nine weeks is enough to diagnose where marks are going with a timed paper, repair two or three high-yield topics, and spend the final fortnight on complete papers under examination conditions. It is not enough to cover a syllabus that was never learned. The first session should be a marked timed paper rather than a teaching hour, because the allocation of nine weeks depends entirely on whether marks are being lost to content gaps, to method presentation or to running out of time.

How are IGCSE science practicals handled when the tuition is online?+

By teaching the assessed skill, which is not the same as handling the apparatus. The centre chooses the route: a Paper 5 practical test, taken in the school laboratory, or a Paper 6 alternative to practical, which is a written paper. Paper 6 assesses reading scales, spotting anomalous results, plotting and interpreting graphs, and describing a method precisely enough that someone else could repeat it. All of that is taught well over video with shared data and real past questions. For Paper 5 the laboratory work stays with the school and tuition covers technique, recording and analysis.

Does the tutor need a MoHRE permit to give private lessons in the UAE?+

Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is open to teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. MoHRE's own service page is the application route, and the permit position is a fair question to ask any tutor before booking.

Which authority regulates my child's school in Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah?+

Ras Al Khaimah's Department of Knowledge regulates private education in that emirate and, like the Sharjah Private Education Authority, approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Fujairah, along with Ajman and Umm Al Quwain, is supervised by the federal Ministry of Education. Dubai sits with KHDA and Abu Dhabi and Al Ain with ADEK. Knowing which body holds the file matters because inspection reports, fee approvals and complaint routes all sit with the emirate authority rather than with the school, and because the school's own answer to a question may be checkable.

What happens if no tutor is free for our subject in the slot we need?+

You are told, with a realistic wait and the alternatives rather than an open enquiry that sits unanswered. The subjects where this happens are predictable: Further Pure Mathematics at IGCSE, Computer Science at Higher Level, and any subject needed at half past three on a weekday in a northern emirate. The options offered are a different slot, a different week, a broader subject specialist to close a content gap while a specialist is found, or a recommendation to look elsewhere. Where the wait is longer than the examination calendar allows, that last answer is the right one and it is given.

Start from the date on the timetable

If you take one thing from this page, take the arithmetic. Find the series or session your child is entered for, confirm it with the examinations officer or the Diploma coordinator, and count the real teaching weeks between tonight and the first paper. That number decides what tuition can still change and what it cannot. Then book a trial lesson, watch whether your child talks in it, and decide. Lessons run one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time, matched by board and syllabus code, anywhere in the UAE. If nobody is free for the subject you need, you will be told that rather than left waiting.
