IB IGCSE Tuition near me in Fujairah

Search IB IGCSE tuition near me from a Fujairah address and the map returns four answers: a tuition centre in Fujairah City, a freelance tutor willing to drive over the Hajar mountains, a school teacher with free evenings, and online one-to-one lessons. This page prices all four honestly and explains which of them survives a Year 11 timetable. IB Gram teaches live online, one subject at a time, on Gulf Standard Time, and the first lesson is a free trial.

  • Lessons run live online on Gulf Standard Time, never at a UAE address
  • Published AED market bands for the east coast, with the source named
  • Cambridge and Pearson syllabus codes named, not just subject titles

IB & IGCSE in Fujairah

Four kinds of help, one search box

A parent on the east coast types IB IGCSE tuition near me and expects a short list of people living within ten minutes of the house. The results are a mixture instead: a tuition centre in Fujairah City running group classes, two or three freelance profiles carrying Sharjah mobile numbers, a Dubai agency that will quote for travel, and online platforms with no address at all. Every listing uses the same vocabulary about experienced teachers and proven methods. None of them explains what the practical difference is on a wet Tuesday in February.

That difference matters more here than it does in Dubai Marina. Fujairah sits on the Gulf of Oman with the Hajar mountains between it and the western conurbation, and the private-school set on this coast is small. A student sitting Chemistry at Higher Level, or Business Studies at IGCSE Extended, may be one of four in the teaching group. The person who knows that syllabus properly is usually not resident on this coast. Proximity and subject fit therefore pull in opposite directions, and a near-me search quietly resolves the conflict in favour of proximity.

This page refuses to do that. It prices the four options in dirhams using rates their own providers publish, sets out who is legally permitted to give private lessons in the UAE and how a parent verifies it, and does the drive-time arithmetic that decides whether a twice-weekly slot is still running at half term. It then separates the two different jobs hiding inside one search: supporting a child in the IB Middle Years Programme, and supporting a child two terms from an IGCSE paper.

IB Gram delivers one-to-one tuition to Fujairah families live online, over video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE - that is a service we run only in India - and no line on this site should be read as a promise that someone will knock on the door in Al Faseel. The reason is not cost. It is that an online match draws on a pool of subject specialists which a twenty-minute radius around Fujairah City cannot contain.

What follows is written for the decision, not for the brochure. If you read one table, read the second one: it is the only place in this search cluster where the four options sit side by side with their AED rates, their travel cost in minutes, the tutor pool each one draws on, and the kind of student each actually suits. Bring your child's school report and the syllabus codes from their option sheet, and the page will tell you which column you belong in. Everything after that is detail: the permit rules, the exam calendar and the questions worth asking before any money moves.

At a glance

  • Market rate for a qualified online subject tutor: AED 150-300 an hour, from published provider pricing
  • In-home visits anywhere in the UAE are outside what IB Gram sells, on this coast included
  • Fujairah private schools are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education, not KHDA or ADEK
  • A Cambridge IGCSE entry closes months before the paper is sat, not weeks
  • Arabic and Islamic Education do not count towards the five subjects the MoE requires for British-track equivalency
  • Group classes and one-to-one lessons fix different problems and should not be priced against each other
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three programmes account for almost every IB IGCSE tuition near me search placed from Fujairah. They sit at different ages, they are assessed in completely different ways, and a tutor who is strong in one is not automatically useful in another.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

IB Middle Years Programme

The MYP assesses four criteria per subject, each marked out of eight, and converts those into a single 1-7 subject grade through published boundaries. There is no paper to past-paper your way through in MYP 1-3. Progress comes from understanding what a criterion rewards: criterion C in sciences wants processing and analysis of data, not a tidy write-up. Most Fujairah students meeting an MYP grade drop are losing marks in one criterion consistently.

Fujairah has few MYP cohorts, so a student can spend three years without ever being taught by a specialist in their weakest subject group. That is the single most common reason east-coast families start looking for outside help in MYP 4, a year before the Diploma choices land.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson International GCSE

Two boards, two sets of rules. Cambridge tiers many subjects into Core and Extended, caps the Core grade at C, and runs June and November series with six administrative timetable zones. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE offers May/June and November entries and uses Foundation and Higher tiers in maths. The syllabus code on the option sheet - 0580, 0620, 4MA1, 4CH1 - tells a tutor more than the subject name does.

Most private schools on this coast run a British or Indian curriculum, so IGCSE entries are the bulk of external exam traffic in Fujairah. Entry decisions are made by the school as the exam centre, which is why a parent should ask for the centre zone and the entry deadline in writing rather than guessing from a UK timetable.

DPAges 16-19 · DP1-DP2

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internal assessment carries real weight in every subject, and its deadlines are set by the school rather than by the IB. UAE schools sit the May session. The Diploma punishes a weak Higher Level choice harder than IGCSE punishes anything, because the grade is built from papers and internal work across two years.

Diploma provision in Fujairah is thin enough that families routinely compare a local sixth form against weekly boarding in Sharjah or a daily run west. Tuition is often what makes the local option viable, by covering the Higher Level subject the school cannot staff deeply.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the subjects Fujairah parents ask about first, with what each one actually assesses. A tutor is matched to the level and the board, because the gap between IGCSE Core and Extended is wider than the gap between two different subjects.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580 / Pearson 4MA1)

Core and Extended · Foundation and Higher

Two papers in most routes, no coursework. Extended adds functions, calculus-adjacent gradient work, vectors and harder trigonometry. Marks are lost on method presentation in multi-step questions, not on arithmetic. A Core entry caps the grade, so the tier decision needs checking against sixth-form entry requirements before the entry closes.

Physics (Cambridge 0625 / Pearson 4PH1)

Core and Extended · single award

Papers cover motion, electricity, waves, thermal physics, magnetism and atomic physics, with a practical or alternative-to-practical component depending on the route. Electricity and moments are the reliable weak points. The command terms matter: a question asking to explain and one asking to describe are marked against different criteria.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620 / Pearson 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Mole calculations, electrolysis, rates, organic families and qualitative analysis. Students who can recite the content still lose marks because they cannot set out a calculation the mark scheme can follow. Practical skills are assessed on paper for most UAE candidates, which makes question-style practice more valuable than extra lab time.

Biology (Cambridge 0610 / Pearson 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Content-heavy and deceptively easy to under-prepare. Transport in plants, homeostasis, inheritance and ecology carry most of the marks that students drop. The skill being tested is precise terminology under time pressure, so written answers marked against the real scheme are worth more than another read-through of notes.

English as a Second Language (Cambridge 0510/0511)

Core and Extended

Reading, writing, listening and an oral component. For many east-coast students this sits alongside Arabic as a first language, and the two compete for revision time. Writing marks come from register and task fulfilment as much as accuracy, which is coachable quickly once a student sees a marked script.

Business Studies (Cambridge 0450)

IGCSE · written papers

Case-study based, with application marks that reward using the stimulus material rather than reciting theory. Fujairah students with a family business often over-rely on real-world knowledge and under-answer the case. Teaching the mark allocation inside a six-mark evaluate question is usually the fastest available gain.

Economics (Cambridge 0455)

IGCSE · written papers

Diagram accuracy carries marks that prose cannot recover. Demand and supply analysis, elasticity and government intervention are where answers drift into description. The Fujairah port and the wider logistics economy give usable local examples, which strengthens the application marks examiners look for.

Arabic as a First Language

IGCSE and school streams

A mandatory subject in UAE private schools and taught in separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students under the regulator's rules. It is examined seriously and it eats revision time in Year 11. Support here is about examination technique in Arabic, not conversational fluency.

Additional Mathematics and Further Pure

Cambridge 0606 · Pearson 4PM1

Taken by students heading for Mathematics at Higher Level or A-Level. Small cohorts mean this is often the subject no local tutor covers. It is the clearest case for an online match, because the teaching requirement is narrow and specific rather than general.

Computer Science (Cambridge 0478)

IGCSE · theory and problem solving

Pseudocode, data representation and logic gates make up more of the mark total than coding does. Students who program confidently still lose marks on trace tables and binary conversion. A tutor should be marking written answers against the scheme rather than reviewing project code.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways of working, chosen by what the student needs rather than by what is easiest to sell. All three run live online, one-to-one, on Gulf Standard Time.

Diagnostic first session

One hour with a marked piece of the student's own work in front of the tutor. The output is a written note naming the topics and the question types where marks are being dropped, with a view on how many weeks the fix needs. Families use this to decide whether to buy anything else at all.

  • Bring a marked paper, a school report and the syllabus code
  • Ends with a named weakness, not a general impression
  • Free as a trial lesson, with no card details required to book

Weekly one-to-one through the term

A fixed slot, same tutor, same subject, following the school's own scheme of work and internal deadlines rather than a generic course. Sessions move around prayer times, Ramadan hours and school trips because the slot belongs to the family. Progress is reviewed against marked work every few weeks instead of by feel.

  • 60 or 90 minutes, once or twice a week per subject
  • Tutor follows the school's assessment calendar
  • Written note after each session so parents can see the trajectory
  • Slot can shift permanently if school transport times change

Pre-series intensive

Short blocks of work in the weeks before a Cambridge or Pearson series, built around timed questions and marked scripts rather than new content. The value is in question selection: a student with six weeks left should not be revising evenly across a syllabus they have already half-secured.

  • Timed papers marked against the published scheme
  • Topic triage based on where the marks actually sit
  • Runs through school holidays and the half-term break

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Fujairah

01

What a near-me search actually returns on the east coast

  • Distance-ranked results favour an address, not a subject specialism
  • Centre, freelancer, agency and platform are four different products
  • Ask for the smallest purchasable unit before discussing price
  • Ask who teaches and on what permit before the first payment

A near-me query is a location query, so the results are ranked largely by distance and by how aggressively a provider has filled in its address fields. That rewards whoever has a Fujairah City pin on the map, and it quietly removes from view every tutor who could teach the subject but lives elsewhere. For a general Year 8 maths catch-up, the trade is fine. For Chemistry at Extended tier eight weeks before a paper, the trade is expensive.

The second thing the search hides is what kind of thing each result is. A tuition centre with premises and staff is a licensed business and sells group classes by the month. A freelance tutor is an individual who needs a private tuition work permit from MoHRE. An agency sells a matching service and may or may not employ the person who turns up. An online platform sells the same matching service without the travel. Four different products, one result page, no labels.

Reading the results properly takes two questions. First, what is the smallest unit you can buy - an hour, a month, a term - because that tells you how much risk you are carrying if the match is wrong. Second, who exactly is teaching, and can you check their permit and their subject level before paying. Anything that cannot answer both in writing is not a cheap option; it is an unpriced one. A provider that will put the tutor name, the permit status and the syllabus code in a single message has already told you most of what the search engine could not.

02

The four options a Fujairah family is really choosing between

Set side by side, the four options separate cleanly. A tuition centre in Fujairah City is the cheapest per hour and the weakest on subject depth, because a group class has to move at the pace of the group. A freelance tutor who drives from Sharjah or Dubai is the most expensive per contact hour once travel is priced, and the most fragile: one road closure and the week is gone. A school teacher with free evenings is the best informed about the school and the most constrained by the rules governing who they may teach. Online one-to-one costs less than a visit, holds its slot, and draws on a pool no local radius contains.

The AED figures below are market rates published by providers, not IB Gram prices. The budget band sits where university-student and generalist online tutors advertise, from roughly AED 45 upwards. Qualified subject tutors online are quoted from AED 150 to 300. In-home visits are quoted from AED 180 to 500 including travel, and IB or IGCSE specialists from AED 200 to 450 and beyond. Those bands come from provider pricing pages and from a published 2026 Dubai rate survey, and a Fujairah family should expect the travel element of the in-home band to sit at the top of its range rather than the bottom.

The column that decides most Fujairah cases is the fourth one. A tuition centre draws on whoever it employs locally. A visiting tutor draws on whoever is willing to spend two hours in a car for a one-hour lesson. Online one-to-one draws on every tutor who teaches that syllabus at that level and can make a Gulf Standard Time slot. For a mainstream subject at Core tier the three pools overlap. For Additional Mathematics, Higher Level Chemistry or Further Pure, they do not overlap at all.

03

Is the person teaching your child legally permitted to do it?

Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit, and the rule is specific. Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 introduced the private tuition work permit, issued through MoHRE. The permit is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published, so anyone quoting you a figure is guessing.

This is not a technicality a parent can leave to the tutor. The permit carries a code of conduct, and one of its effects is to limit a teacher tutoring students affiliated with their own school. Abu Dhabi press reporting describes ADEK professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff along the same lines, prohibiting paid private tutoring of students enrolled at the teacher's own school. Fujairah schools answer to the federal Ministry of Education rather than ADEK, but the MoHRE permit conditions apply across the country, so the question is worth asking in every emirate.

A tuition centre with premises and staff is a different legal animal from an individual tutor. In Dubai that means a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first and annual renewal. IB Gram holds no regulator accreditation of any kind and does not claim one: no KHDA permit, no Ministry of Education endorsement, no board affiliation. What a parent can verify is the individual - the permit, the subject, the level - and that is the verification worth doing before money changes hands.

The drive-time arithmetic nobody does before signing up

  • One hour of in-home teaching in Fujairah costs the tutor roughly three hours
  • Four lost sessions a year is more than a month of teaching gone
  • Two short sessions usually beat one long one for a Year 11 student
  • Shared screen work keeps a marked script available all year

A visiting tutor is a transport problem wearing an education label. From Fujairah City to the Sharjah and Dubai school belt is a mountain crossing, and the return leg in the evening is the slower one. A one-hour lesson therefore costs the tutor the better part of three hours. Rational tutors price that in, which is why published in-home bands reach AED 500 an hour and why the first thing to go when the tutor has a busy week is the Fujairah slot rather than the one ten minutes from their flat.

The fragility shows up in the calendar rather than the price. Across a thirty-week school year, a weekly in-home slot that loses four sessions to weather, traffic and the tutor's own commitments has lost over a month of teaching, usually in the weeks that matter most. Rain on the mountain road and a cancelled Thursday are not dramatic events; they are the normal operating condition of an east-coast schedule. A plan that only works when nothing goes wrong is not a plan for Year 11.

Online removes the variable entirely, and it changes what a session can be. A tutor who is not driving can run two forty-five-minute sessions on different evenings instead of one marathon, which suits a tired fifteen-year-old better. Work can be shared on screen and kept, so a marked script from October is still available in March. The trade is real - a screen is not a kitchen table - and it is a trade most Fujairah families make once they count the lost weeks rather than the hourly rate.

05

IB or IGCSE: the two jobs hiding inside one search

The phrase IB IGCSE tuition near me is typed by two different parents. One has a child in the Middle Years Programme being assessed against criteria, with no external paper in sight and a report full of numbers out of eight. The other has a child in Year 10 or 11 heading for a Cambridge or Pearson series with a published entry deadline. The subject may be the same. The teaching job is not, and a tutor who treats the first as early exam preparation wastes a year.

In the MYP, the work is to find which criterion is costing marks and teach to it. A science student losing marks in criterion C needs practice in processing and analysing data, which no amount of content revision supplies. In IGCSE, the work is question technique against a published mark scheme, tier choice while the entry can still be changed, and triage across topics with the series date fixed. One is diagnostic and developmental; the other is engineering against a deadline.

The transition between them is where east-coast families most often lose ground. A student arriving in Year 10 from an MYP cohort meets tiering, command terms and timed papers at the same moment, and the school has one term to settle thirty of them. This is where a few weeks of targeted help pays for itself, and where the table below is worth reading against your child's own option sheet rather than in the abstract.

What a Fujairah City tuition centre can and cannot do

  • Best centre use case: a student who will not start work without a room and a timetable
  • A group class averages across its students by design
  • Check which board the class is actually taught to before enrolling
  • Monthly packages remove the option to stop after one session

A centre class has genuine advantages, and parents who dismiss it are usually wrong about the cheapest useful option. It gets a student out of the house and away from a phone, it imposes a routine that homework at the kitchen table does not, and it is the best value per hour on this coast for a student whose problem is work habits rather than content. For a Year 9 student who simply is not sitting down to study, two hours at a centre every week solves more than an expensive specialist would.

What a group cannot do is teach to one student's gap. A class of eight moving through a scheme of work has to pick a pace, and the student who is behind in one topic and ahead in two gets the average of their needs. Centres also tend to teach a subject rather than a board, which matters when half the room sits Cambridge 0580 and the rest sit Pearson 4MA1 with different question styles and tiering rules. A monthly package also removes the ability to stop after one session.

The honest split is this. Use a centre for structure, discipline and routine subjects at the mainstream tier. Use one-to-one, online or otherwise, for a diagnosed weakness, for Extended or Higher Level work, and for anything where the specialist does not exist locally. Families who do both are not overspending; they are buying two different things, and the total is usually less than the in-home rate for a single subject.

07

The school-teacher option and the rules around it

Asking a teacher at the school for private lessons is the most natural move a parent makes and the one most likely to run into a rule. The MoHRE private tuition permit carries a code of conduct whose effect is to bar serving students affiliated with the teacher's own school, and Abu Dhabi reporting describes ADEK professional-ethics rules prohibiting Abu Dhabi school staff from paid private tutoring of their own enrolled students. The intention is obvious: a teacher should not be paid twice for the same child, and a child should not be advantaged by paying their own assessor.

There is a quieter problem as well. The teacher who set the internal assessment, marks it and predicts the grade is not a neutral second opinion. The value of outside help is that it tells you something the school has not told you - that the content is secure but the exam technique is not, or that the tier is wrong, or that a criterion has been misunderstood for two years. A second voice from inside the same staffroom rarely delivers that.

A teacher from a different school in the emirate is a legitimate option, provided the permit is in place and the student is not theirs. That is worth asking about directly rather than assuming. The questions are simple: do you hold the MoHRE private tuition permit, which school are you at, and have you taught this syllabus code at this tier. A tutor who answers all three without hesitation is a reasonable bet whatever their postcode.

08

What to ask before paying for anything

  • Start with a diagnosis, not a package
  • Ask what the smallest purchasable unit is
  • Ask what happens if the first match is wrong
  • Ask for the permit, the syllabus code and the tier in one message

The first question is about the problem rather than the provider. If you cannot say which topics and which question types are costing marks, no purchase will be well targeted, and that is what a diagnostic session is for. Ask for a marked piece of the student's own work to be read in front of you and for the output to be written down. An hour that ends with a named weakness and a realistic number of weeks is worth more than a month of general sessions.

The second question is about exit. What is the smallest unit you can buy, what happens if the match is wrong after two sessions, and is there a replacement without a new fee. Any provider confident in its matching will answer plainly. A monthly package with no replacement policy puts all the risk on the family, and on this coast, where the alternative tutor may be ninety minutes away, that risk is not small.

The third is verification. The MoHRE private tuition work permit, the syllabus code the tutor has taught, the tier, and whether they have marked against the published scheme rather than simply taught the subject. IB Gram claims no accreditation from KHDA, ADEK, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, because it holds none. What it does publish is the market rate, the delivery format and the fallback when no specialist is free - and those are the three things parents on this coast are least often told.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Fujairah

Fujairah is a strip of coast and a set of inland and northern communities, and the distance between them changes what a weekday session can look like. The notes below are about session timing, not scenery.

Fujairah City

The administrative and school centre of the emirate, and where the tuition centres are. A student living here can reach a centre class after school, which is exactly why group classes feel like the default option even when one-to-one is the better fit.

Al Faseel

Close to the corniche and to the main school run, so late-afternoon traffic is short. Families here often start with a 4.30pm slot and shift it later once they see how long homework actually takes on a Tuesday.

Sakamkam

Inland from the city, with school transport that arrives home later than parents expect. A 5pm start is usually optimistic in term time; 6pm holds through the year, which matters more than it sounds for consistency.

Merashid

A residential district whose students are spread across several private schools, so two neighbours can be sitting different boards in the same subject. Any outside help has to be matched to the school's own syllabus code rather than the area.

Al Gurfa

South along the coast road, far enough that a visiting tutor would be charging for the drive in both directions. This is the point on the map where online one-to-one stops being a compromise and starts being the only sensible arithmetic.

Dibba Al-Fujairah

At the northern end of the coast, with a jurisdictional complication: neighbouring Dibba Al-Hisn is Sharjah territory and its private schools answer to the Sharjah Private Education Authority instead. Families here should confirm which regulator covers their own school.

Qidfa and Mirbah

Smaller coastal communities between the city and Dibba. Students travel for school, so the useful question is not where a tutor is but what time the bus actually gets back and whether a session can start before fatigue wins.

School ecosystem

Fujairah City and the coastal districts

The schools below sit inside the emirate and are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education. Between them they cover British, Indian and bilingual routes, which is why a single area can produce IGCSE candidates on two different boards in the same street.

Schools on the Sharjah and northern side of this coast

East-coast families regularly choose a school outside the emirate, which changes the regulator as well as the commute. Private schools in Khor Fakkan and Dibba Al-Hisn fall under the Sharjah Private Education Authority, and Ras Al Khaimah schools under its Department of Knowledge.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the syllabus code, not just the subject

Send the subject, the board and the code from the option sheet - 0580, 4CH1, 0625 - plus the level or tier and the school. On this coast the same subject is taught to two different boards within one street, and the code is what makes a match specific rather than approximate.

  2. 02

Free trial lesson with a marked piece of work

The first session is a free trial and runs online at a time that fits the school transport. Bring a marked paper or report. The tutor reads the work, teaches for most of the hour and finishes by naming the weakness. No card details are needed to book it.

A written plan with a number of weeks on it

After the trial you get a short written plan: the topics and question types to fix, the order to fix them in, and a realistic number of weeks. If the honest answer is that the school is already handling it, the plan says so and you spend nothing further.

  4. 04

Fixed weekly slot, reviewed against marked work

Sessions run at a set time on Gulf Standard Time, same tutor, following the school's own deadlines. Every few weeks the tutor marks a fresh timed piece against the published scheme so progress is measured rather than assumed, and the plan is adjusted from the evidence.

  5. 05

Say so early if the match is wrong

Two sessions is enough to know whether the fit works. If it does not, say so and the subject is rematched to a different tutor without a new fee. Families on the east coast have too little slack in the calendar to spend a term being polite about a bad match.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The pool, not the postcode

A twenty-minute radius around Fujairah City contains a limited number of people who can teach Additional Mathematics or Chemistry at Extended tier. An online match draws on everyone who teaches that syllabus and can make the slot. For mainstream subjects this changes little; for narrow ones it changes everything.

Rates published, with the source named

The AED bands on this page come from provider pricing pages and a published 2026 Dubai rate survey, and are presented as the market rather than as our price list. Five of six pages ranking for these searches publish no figure at all, and the one that does contradicts itself.

Written diagnosis before a package

The first output is a note naming the topics and question types where marks are going, with a number of weeks attached. That is checkable, and it lets a family decide against buying more. A plan a parent cannot read is not a plan.

Scheduling that respects the east coast

School transport from Sakamkam and the northern coast arrives later than a Dubai timetable assumes, Ramadan hours change the evening, and prayer times are fixed points. Slots are built around those realities and can be moved permanently, not just once as a favour.

Clear boundaries on assessed work

A tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback on work the student has done. Nobody at IB Gram supplies finished internal assessments or coursework, and we do not reproduce board papers or mark schemes as downloads. Those boundaries are why the support is safe to use under IB and Cambridge honesty rules.

An honest fallback when nobody is free

If no UAE-based tutor covers a narrow subject at the level needed, you are told that and offered a specialist elsewhere teaching into your time zone, or told to wait. Silence or a weak substitute costs a family more than an awkward message does.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Fujairah: your questions answered

What does a near-me search for IB and IGCSE tuition actually return in Fujairah?+

Four different products ranked mostly by distance: tuition centres with a Fujairah City address, freelance profiles that often carry Sharjah or Dubai numbers, agencies that will quote for travel, and online platforms with no address at all. The ranking rewards whoever filled in their location fields, not whoever teaches your child's syllabus at the right tier. Before comparing prices, work out which of the four each result is, because an hour at a centre and an hour of one-to-one teaching are not the same unit. Then ask who is teaching and on what permit.

Is a group class in Fujairah City cheaper than one-to-one online lessons?+

Per hour, almost always. Centre and budget-tier rates start from around AED 45 to 150 an hour per student, where qualified one-to-one online tutors sit in a published band of roughly AED 150 to 300. The two are not substitutes though. A group moves at the pace of the group and usually teaches a subject rather than a specific board, so a diagnosed gap at Extended tier is not what it fixes. Many east-coast families use a centre for routine and structure and one-to-one for the one subject that is actually costing grades.

Which exam boards do private schools in Fujairah use for IGCSE?+

Both Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel appear on this coast, and the school is the exam centre that makes entries. That matters because the rules differ: Cambridge tiers many subjects into Core and Extended and runs June and November series across six administrative timetable zones, while Pearson offers May/June and November entries with Foundation and Higher tiers in maths. Ask the school for the syllabus code, the tier and the entry deadline in writing. A tutor matched to 0580 Extended is a different match from one used to 4MA1 Higher.

How do I check that a tutor holds the MoHRE private tuition permit?+

Ask for it directly, in a message you keep. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is issued through MoHRE and is granted free of charge for two years, so there is no reason for a legitimate tutor to be vague about it. Eligible categories include school and sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged 15 to 18. Anyone offering private lessons without a permit is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no published fine schedule exists.

Can a tutor living in Sharjah realistically hold a twice-weekly Fujairah slot?+

Rarely, for a whole school year. The crossing to the western emirates is a mountain route and the evening return is slower, so a one-hour lesson costs the tutor close to three hours. Published in-home bands of AED 180 to 500 reflect that, and so does the cancellation pattern: when the tutor has a difficult week, the far slot goes first. Across thirty teaching weeks, losing four sessions to weather and traffic removes more than a month of teaching, usually in the term where it mattered most.

Which authority supervises private schools on the Fujairah coast?+

The federal Ministry of Education. Under the UAE government's own description, the Ministry plays a pivotal role in supervising private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah, while Dubai has KHDA, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain have ADEK, Sharjah has the Sharjah Private Education Authority and Ras Al Khaimah has its Department of Knowledge. The practical consequence for a Fujairah parent is that you will not find a KHDA inspection report for your school, and a provider advertising KHDA approval is telling you nothing relevant to this emirate.

My son is at an Indian-curriculum school in Fujairah. Can he add IGCSE subjects?+

Sometimes, and the answer comes from the school rather than from a tutor. Entries are made by a registered exam centre, so the first question is whether his school enters candidates for Cambridge or Pearson at all, and whether it will enter him for a subject it does not teach. Where it will not, families look at another centre in the northern emirates. Start that conversation early: final entries close months before the paper, not weeks, so a decision taken in the spring is usually a decision taken too late.

How many hours a week of IGCSE tuition make sense alongside a full school day?+

One 60 to 90 minute session per subject through most of the year, rising to two in the target subject from January of Year 11. More than that and the student stops having time to do the work the session sets, which is where the learning actually happens. Two shorter sessions on separate evenings generally beat one long block for a tired fifteen-year-old, particularly where school transport from inland districts gets home late. The limiting factor is independent practice time, not teaching time.

If nobody in the UAE teaches the subject, who ends up teaching my child?+

You get told, in plain words, before you pay. Narrow subjects at the top tier - Further Pure Mathematics, some Higher Level sciences, a minority language - may have no UAE-based specialist available at a workable hour. The options are then a specialist outside the UAE teaching into Gulf Standard Time, or waiting until one is free. Both are better than a generalist who has never taught the syllabus. No competitor page in this cluster discloses a coverage limit at all, which does not mean they do not have one.

Are online lessons workable if our home internet on the east coast is slow?+

Usually yes, because a one-to-one lesson is mostly voice plus a shared writing surface, which needs far less bandwidth than video streaming does. Where the connection is unreliable, the practical fixes are to use a phone hotspot as a backup, keep the camera off during written work, and have the tutor share a document that survives a dropout so nothing is lost. Ask for the lesson notes to be written up afterwards as well, so a bad connection costs a few minutes rather than the session.

Can we begin with one subject and add a second later in the year?+

Yes, and that is usually the better order. Taking two subjects at once halves the independent practice time available for each and makes it hard to tell which intervention is working. Fix the subject that is costing the most, confirm the change on marked work, then decide. Adding a second tutor mid-year is straightforward; each subject gets its own specialist rather than one person covering both, since a Chemistry match and a Mathematics match are different teaching jobs.

Does the free trial lesson need card details or a commitment to a package?+

No. The trial is one lesson, booked without card details, and it is a real teaching session rather than a sales call: the tutor reads a marked piece of the student's work, teaches for most of the hour, and names the weakness at the end. The output is a short written plan with a realistic number of weeks on it. If the plan says the school is already handling the problem, that is an acceptable result and nothing further is owed. The condition attached is simply one lesson per student.

What should a first paid session produce if we are paying for a diagnosis?+

Something written and specific. Not a general impression of ability, but the topics and question types where marks are being dropped, evidence from a marked script, and a view on how many weeks the fix needs. A good diagnosis often reduces the plan rather than expanding it - one topic and two question styles rather than a whole syllabus. If a session ends with nothing more precise than a recommendation to book more sessions, you have learned something about the provider instead of about your child.

Which evening slots survive prayer times and school transport in Fujairah City?+

A 4.30pm start works for families close to the corniche and the city schools, while students travelling back to inland districts like Sakamkam are more reliably settled by 6pm. Keeping the slot after Maghrib suits many families, and during Ramadan the whole pattern shifts to a post-Iftar session, which online delivery makes straightforward. The point of a fixed slot is that it should hold for the year, so it is worth choosing the later time that always works over the earlier one that works in October.

Start with the diagnosis, then decide what to buy

A near-me search is a reasonable way to find a room and a bad way to find a specialist. On this coast the two are rarely the same thing. Send the subject, the syllabus code and the tier, book the free trial, and let an hour with a marked script tell you where the marks are actually going. The written plan afterwards will say how many weeks the fix needs, and sometimes it will say the school has it covered. Lessons run live online, one-to-one, on Gulf Standard Time, from Fujairah City to Dibba Al-Fujairah, and the slot can move when school transport or Ramadan hours change.
