Best IB Tutor in Fujairah

Every page returned by a search for the best IB tutor in Fujairah says it is the right answer, and almost none of them publish a figure, a date or a method you could check. This page takes the opposite approach: the eight things a parent can verify before paying, what a good match should look like in week one and week four, what the market charges in dirhams, and the claims worth walking away from. Lessons run live online, one-to-one, on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Eight checkable claims, with the verification route for each
  • AED market bands published with their source and date
  • A written diagnosis after the free trial, not a sales call
  • Rematch without a new fee if the first pairing does not work

IB & IGCSE in Fujairah

A question with no published answer, and what to ask instead

There is no register of tutor quality in the UAE, no inspection band for a tutoring provider, and no authority that ranks them. So when a page announces that it has the finest IB tutors on the east coast, the claim is not merely unverified; there is nothing it could be verified against. The research behind this site found competitor pages publishing a 4.92 rating from 480 reviews and a 4.93 from 850 on the same page, and another showing a perfect score from twenty reviews next to a claim of 2,500 students taught. Those are not evidence. They are decoration.

What does exist is a set of checkable facts. Whether the person teaching holds the MoHRE private tuition work permit. Whether they have taught the exact syllabus at the exact level. Whether they will mark your child's script against the published assessment criteria while you watch. What the market charges, with the source named. What happens if the match is wrong after two sessions. None of those require trust, and a provider who answers all five in writing has told you more than any rating could.

Timing is the other half of the question, because the best available tutor at the wrong point in the calendar is a poor purchase. A family in the first term of DP1 should be buying foundations and internal assessment design. A family eight weeks from the papers should be buying marked scripts and topic triage. A family in MYP 4 should be buying a criterion diagnosis. The same tutor, the same hourly rate, three different jobs - and a provider who does not ask the date before quoting has not started working yet.

This page is therefore organised as a verification checklist and a timeline rather than as a pitch. It sets out what to ask and what a non-answer tells you, what should be visibly different after four weeks and after a term, what the AED bands actually signal, and which claims are a reason to stop the conversation. Some of what follows argues against buying anything at all, which is the honest consequence of writing a checklist rather than an advertisement.

IB Gram works with Fujairah families online, one-to-one, over live video on Gulf Standard Time, starting with a free trial lesson. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE - home visits are a service we run only in India - and we hold no accreditation from KHDA, ADEK, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, because no such accreditation exists for a tutoring platform. What we publish instead is the market rate, the delivery format, the boundaries on coursework, and what happens when no specialist is free.

At a glance

  • No UAE authority rates or ranks private tutoring providers
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is checkable and free to the tutor
  • Two sessions is normally enough to judge whether a match works
  • A rating with no countable, attributable reviews behind it is not evidence
  • The right purchase depends on where the student sits in the school year
  • A good first session ends with a named weakness, not a recommendation to buy more
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

What counts as a good tutor changes with the programme, because the thing being assessed changes. These are the three stages east-coast families hire for, with the specific competence to look for in each.

PYPAges 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Inquiry-led with no criterion marking, so there is nothing to drill and no paper to practise. A good tutor at this stage is building reading fluency, number confidence and the habit of producing a structured written answer. The warning sign is a tutor who introduces worksheets and tests; the useful signal is one who can say what a six-year-old should be able to do by the end of a term.

Few Fujairah schools run a full Primary Years Programme, so local primary classes mix several curricula. Any plan should start from what the child's own school is teaching rather than from a generic year-group expectation.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

IB Middle Years Programme

Four criteria per subject marked out of eight. The competence to test for is whether a tutor can name the criteria in the subject group they are being hired for, and say which one your child is losing marks on from the marked work in front of them. A tutor who opens an MYP session with a past paper has misread the programme, because in MYP 1 to 3 no external paper exists.

In small Fujairah cohorts the same teacher often covers several MYP years, so a persistent criterion weakness can go unnamed for a long time. That makes the diagnosis itself the thing worth paying for first.

DPAges 16-19 · DP1-DP2

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three normally at Higher Level, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS. The test here is level-specific: has this tutor taught the subject at Higher Level, and will they mark a timed answer against the published criteria now. Internal assessment work raises an honesty question too, and a straight answer about what they will and will not do with a draft is part of the assessment.

Diploma provision on this coast is thin, so the subject a family most needs is often the one with no local specialist. For those requests the honest sequence is availability first, then price, then personality - not the reverse.

COREAcross both Diploma years

Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS

Supervised by the school, and the place where outside help is most easily misused. A competent tutor will ask what the school supervisor has already said, will teach the criteria, and will decline to supply text. One who offers to deliver a finished essay is not a better tutor; they are a risk to the candidate, since the work submitted must be the student's own.

Where a Fujairah school has one staff member supervising several essays across unfamiliar subjects, outside support is genuinely valuable. It should still sit behind the supervisor rather than in competition with them.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

A profile that lists twenty subjects tells you nothing. These are the subjects Fujairah families hire for most, each with the one question that separates a specialist from a generalist.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Ask which Higher Level paper they find students struggle with most and why. A specialist will talk about extended problem-solving and proof rather than about algebra in general. Ask also how they would structure the exploration without touching the student's own writing.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Ask how they teach graphic display calculator use for the modelling questions. The route is technology-centred, and a tutor trained only on Analysis and Approaches will undervalue exactly the skills this course assesses.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Ask how they mark a multi-step calculation that reaches the right answer with missing working. The answer reveals whether they teach to the mark scheme or to the subject. Ask separately what they will do with an internal investigation draft.

Physics

HL and SL

Ask which command terms students answer wrongly and what the difference between describe and explain costs in marks. A specialist answers in examples; a generalist answers in generalities about understanding concepts.

Biology

HL and SL

Ask how they handle data-based questions, since that is where prepared students separate from well-read ones. Also ask how they would narrow an over-ambitious investigation question without designing it for the student.

Economics

HL and SL

Ask what a diagram is worth in a long answer and how they teach evaluation. Then ask how they would help with the commentaries without selecting the articles or writing the analysis, which is the real boundary question in this subject.

Business Management

HL and SL

Ask how they teach application marks from stimulus material. Students from family-business households often write knowledgeably and answer the wrong question, and a tutor who recognises that pattern immediately is worth more than one with a longer subject list.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Ask them to analyse an unseen short extract in front of you. Five minutes of that is more informative than any amount of discussion about essay structure, and it is the fastest test available in any subject on this list.

English B and second languages

HL and SL

Ask which text types the course requires and how they teach register. Many east-coast students sit a second language alongside Arabic, so ask how they would sequence work when two language courses peak in the same weeks.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Ask what share of the marks sits in the written papers rather than in the solution. A tutor who talks only about code has misjudged the assessment, and this is one of the subjects most often thinly staffed in a small school.

Theory of Knowledge

Diploma core

Ask how an example earns marks in a knowledge argument. The essay is marked on the quality of argument about knowledge rather than on subject content, which is why strong subject teachers are not automatically good at teaching it.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways of starting, all live online and one-to-one on Gulf Standard Time. The first one is free and is the only one worth buying before the others are considered.

The trial, treated as an audition

One free lesson in which the tutor teaches rather than sells. Give them a marked piece of work beforehand and listen for whether they name a specific weakness by the end. A session that produces only encouragement and a recommendation to book a package has failed the audition, whatever it cost.

  • Send a marked script or report in advance
  • Most of the hour should be teaching, not conversation
  • Ends with a named weakness and a number of weeks
  • No card details required, one per student

A four-week trial block

Where the trial goes well, four weekly sessions is long enough to see whether anything changes and short enough that a wrong decision costs little. It also lets a family test the thing that actually matters over two years: whether the slot holds and the notes arrive.

  • Four sessions, same tutor, same subject
  • A written note after each one
  • Reviewed against a fresh marked piece at the end
  • Rematch without a new fee if it is not working

Term-long subject support

Only after the first two. A full term follows the school's own assessment calendar, with checkpoints on marked work agreed in advance rather than reviewed by feel. For a Diploma Higher Level subject this is the shape that matters, because continuity across two years outperforms any individual session.

  • Follows the school's internal deadlines
  • Checkpoints fixed in advance, on marked work
  • Slot can move permanently for Ramadan or transport changes
  • Same tutor through DP1 and DP2 where the match works

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Fujairah

01

What best can honestly mean when nobody publishes evidence

  • No UAE regulator rates tutoring providers; claims of endorsement are empty
  • Self-asserted ratings in schema breach Google's structured-data policy
  • A statistic without n, date and method is not evidence of anything
  • Verifiable beats impressive: permit, level history, marking, price, exit

No UAE authority inspects, rates or ranks private tutoring providers. KHDA inspects Dubai private schools and issues permits to training institutes with premises; ADEK does the equivalent in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain; the Sharjah Private Education Authority and Ras Al Khaimah's Department of Knowledge regulate their emirates; and the federal Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. None of them produces a league table of tutors. A provider claiming a regulator's endorsement is therefore describing something that does not exist.

That vacuum gets filled with self-generated proof. The competitor research behind this site found a page showing two different star ratings with two different review counts, another asserting a perfect score from twenty reviews while claiming a four-figure student total, and schema markup carrying ratings that contradicted the visible page. Google's own structured-data policy treats self-serving review markup as a violation, and in a UAE commercial context an unsupportable claim about a service is a consumer-protection exposure as well as a credibility problem.

So the sensible move is to stop looking for the best tutor and start looking for a verifiable match. Verifiable means the permit exists, the subject and level history is specific, the marking is demonstrated rather than described, the price is stated with its basis, and the exit terms are written down. A provider who meets that standard may or may not employ the finest teacher on the coast, but you will know what you are buying, which is more than any ranking offers.

02

The eight claims you can actually verify before paying

Each row in the table below is a claim tutoring providers make, with the way it is usually presented and the way to test it. None of the tests takes more than a message or two, and the pattern of answers is more informative than any single reply. A provider who answers six out of eight precisely and goes vague on the other two has told you exactly where the weakness is.

Two of the rows deserve emphasis. The permit question is factual: the private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is issued through MoHRE, and is granted free of charge for two years, so there is no cost reason for a legitimate tutor to be evasive. And the examiner question is one to approach carefully, because examiner status is widely claimed, rarely evidenced, and should never be presented as access to marking, boundaries or paper content.

The last row is the one families skip. Ask what happens when no suitable tutor is available for a narrow subject at a workable hour. Every provider has a coverage limit; the research found that none of the ranking competitors discloses one, and several route UAE parents to numbers in other countries without saying where the teaching happens. An honest answer to that question is worth more than a confident answer to the other seven. Run the whole list by message rather than by phone, for two reasons. A written reply can be compared against what happens later, and a provider who will put the permit, the level history and the exit terms in writing has already accepted that you may hold them to it. Anyone who insists on a call before answering any of the eight is managing the conversation rather than answering it.

03

Week one to week four: what a good match looks like early

  • Week one: most of the hour is teaching; it ends with a named weakness
  • Week two: work was set and the student did it
  • Week three: the student can explain what they are working on
  • Week four: a fresh marked piece shows movement in the targeted skill

In the first session, most of the hour should be teaching. A tutor reading a marked script, asking the student to attempt a question, and then explaining why two marks went missing is doing the job; one spending forty minutes on rapport and ten on a sales pitch for a package is not. By the end of the first hour you should have a named weakness - a topic, a question type, a criterion - rather than a general impression of ability.

By week two, the test is whether the session set work and whether the work came back. Teaching produces learning through what the student does afterwards, so a tutor who sets nothing has removed the mechanism. By week three the student should be able to explain, in their own words, what they are working on and why. That is a parent-administered test, it costs nothing, and it catches a poor match faster than any progress report.

By week four there should be a fresh marked piece and a comparison. Not necessarily a better grade - four weeks is short, and claiming otherwise would be a promise nobody can keep - but visible movement in the specific thing being targeted: working set out properly, a conclusion that evaluates, a data question attempted rather than abandoned. If none of that is visible and the tutor cannot say why, the conversation to have is about changing the approach or the tutor.

04

The first term: what should be different by the end of it

  • Did the slot hold through a difficult term?
  • Has the problem narrowed rather than broadened?
  • Does the tutor track the school's own calendar unprompted?
  • Is the student doing anything differently without being told?

A term is long enough to judge properly, and the things to judge are not all academic. Did the slot hold through the weeks when school assessments, a school trip and a public holiday all landed? Did the notes arrive? Did the tutor know, without being told, what the school's internal deadline was and when the next assessment fell? Reliability over twelve weeks is the strongest predictor of what the second year of a Diploma will look like.

Academically, a term should have narrowed the problem rather than widened it. Good diagnosis shrinks the work: a student who arrived failing at chemistry should by now be working on calculation layout and explanation questions, not on chemistry. If the description of the problem at week twelve is as broad as it was at week one, the sessions have been teaching the subject rather than fixing the weakness.

The third thing to look for is independence. The student should be doing something differently without being prompted - marking their own answer against criteria, writing a plan before a long task, attempting the data question first. A tutor whose student becomes more dependent across a term is producing a result that will not survive the examination hall, where nobody is available to prompt. That is the quiet failure mode in this market, and it looks like a good relationship from the outside. A simple check at the end of a term is to ask the student to work through a question with the tutor listening rather than teaching. If the student stalls and waits to be rescued, the dependence is real and it needs addressing now rather than in the examination term, when there is no time left to unwind it.

05

The exam term, when best means something narrower

Close to the papers, the definition of a good tutor changes. Breadth stops mattering and triage starts. The work is to read the mock scripts question by question, rank the topics by marks lost against the study time each would need, and then spend the remaining weeks on that ranking, keeping the final fortnight for timed papers rather than new content. A tutor who is still teaching the syllabus in order at this stage has misread the calendar.

A second change is honesty about what remains possible. Six to eight weeks can change examination technique, timing and performance on two or three high-yield topics in one subject, and that can be worth a grade. It cannot rebuild two years across six subjects, and it cannot touch an internal assessment mark already submitted. A provider who agrees to everything at this point is selling reassurance, and reassurance is the most expensive thing in this market per unit of benefit.

The third is scheduling discipline. Exam-term sessions have to hold against school revision programmes, Ramadan in some years, and a household under strain, and on this coast they have to hold without depending on anyone crossing the mountains. Where a family is choosing between a locally available generalist and an online specialist at this stage, the deciding question is simple: which of them will still be teaching your child in the last week before the first paper. The fourth change is in what a session should contain. New explanation shrinks and marked work grows, until the final weeks are mostly the student writing and the tutor showing them where the marks went. A family paying for teaching at that stage and receiving conversation should say so, because the weeks do not come back.

06

What the price actually signals

Published market rates in this country sort roughly into five bands, and the bands correlate with what the tutor brings rather than with how good they are. Budget online tutoring advertises from around AED 45 to 150 an hour, often university students or generalists. Qualified subject tutors online are quoted from AED 150 to 300. In-home visits run AED 180 to 500 once travel is included. IB and IGCSE specialists are quoted from AED 200 to 450 and beyond, and a premium named or examiner-led tier reaches AED 650. Monthly packages seen in this market include around AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four in-home sessions of two hours.

Those figures come from provider pricing pages and a published 2026 Dubai rate survey. They are the market, not an IB Gram price list, and the useful reading of them is directional. Paying budget rates for a Higher Level Diploma subject usually buys a generalist, which is a poor trade for a narrow problem. Paying the premium tier does not buy a different syllabus, and the research found the highest-priced claims in this market are also the least evidenced. The in-home band is the clearest case of paying for something other than teaching, since a large part of it is travel.

The honest guide is to pay the qualified specialist band for the one subject that is costing the most, and to buy fewer hours of it rather than more hours of something cheaper. A single well-targeted session a week that sets work the student then does will beat three sessions that replace the student's own practice time. That is also why a provider quoting a monthly package before asking what the problem is has the sequence backwards.

07

The claims that are a reason to stop the conversation

Some claims are not merely overcooked; they signal a provider who will create problems. A promise of a particular grade is the obvious one, because nobody controls a student's performance in an examination hall and a refund tied to an outcome is a promise with no mechanism behind it. Regulator approval is the second: there is no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA or federal ministry accreditation for a tutoring platform, so the phrase is either a misunderstanding or a fabrication.

The third is an offer to supply assessed work. Services in this search cluster sell completed internal assessments; the research found one advertising them at AED 3,750. For the student that is a malpractice trigger with the Diploma at risk, and no mark is worth that. A provider who markets coursework completion has told you what they are, and the correct response is to leave rather than negotiate the boundary.

The fourth is misdirection about where the teaching happens or who is responsible. A UAE address that is not occupied, a phone number in another country presented as a local line, a school listed as a partner without a relationship, or a statistic with no n, date or method attached. Each is a small thing; together they describe a provider whose published claims cannot be relied on, which is the single worst property a two-year academic relationship can have. None of this requires a judgement about teaching quality, which is the useful part. A parent can read a provider's own published pages, count the claims that could be checked, and see how many of them have a source, a date or a method attached. On the evidence of the pages ranking for these searches, that count is usually zero, and a provider who scores even four or five is operating differently from the market around it.

Fujairah: what best means on a small coast

Fujairah sits on the Gulf of Oman with the Hajar mountains separating it from the western emirates, and its private-school set is small. The practical result is generous access to teachers and limited depth in any one subject at the top level. A Higher Level Chemistry student may be one of four, taught by someone also carrying Standard Level and a lower-school course. That is arithmetic, not a failing, and it determines what outside help is for here.

It also means the best available tutor for a Fujairah family is frequently not on this coast, and pretending otherwise is the main way families get badly matched. A visiting tutor spends close to three hours on a one-hour lesson, which is why published in-home rates reach AED 500 and why the distant slot is the first casualty of a busy week. Across thirty teaching weeks, four lost sessions removes more than a month of teaching, usually from the term that mattered.

The honest position is therefore narrow and checkable. Lessons are delivered online, one-to-one, on Gulf Standard Time; a slot is chosen so it survives the whole year rather than the first month; and where no UAE-based specialist covers a subject at a workable hour, a family is told that and offered either a tutor elsewhere teaching into this time zone or an honest wait. None of that makes anyone the finest tutor on the east coast. It does make the claim checkable, which is the most any page in this search can offer.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Fujairah

What families ask for first differs across the emirate, mostly because of which schools and which subjects are involved. These notes describe the requests rather than the scenery.

Fujairah City

Most enquiries from here start with a single Diploma subject the school covers at Standard Level and the student wants at Higher Level. The verification question that matters is whether the tutor has taught the Higher Level course, not merely the subject.

Al Faseel

Requests cluster around MYP 4 and 5 reports, where a criterion has been low for several terms. The useful first purchase is a diagnosis rather than a package, and the trial session is usually enough to produce one.

Sakamkam

Later transport means an early evening slot rarely holds, so families here should be sceptical of any provider who will not commit to a 6pm start for the whole year. Consistency is a quality signal in itself.

Merashid

Students attend several different schools, so sibling requests often involve two curricula at once. Ask whether each child gets a subject specialist or whether one tutor is being stretched across both; the answer tells you how the provider actually matches.

Al Gurfa

Long school journeys make the in-home option particularly unattractive here once travel is priced, and published in-home bands reach AED 500 an hour. Enquiries from this stretch of coast are usually about reliability before they are about price.

Dibba Al-Fujairah

Families at the northern end sometimes use schools across the Sharjah boundary, which changes the regulator and the term calendar. A tutor who asks which school before quoting is doing the right thing.

Qidfa and Mirbah

The smallest communities generate the narrowest requests: one unusual Higher Level subject, no local specialist. Here the first honest answer is about availability, and a provider who promises a match without checking is telling you something.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Fujairah

Fujairah schools families are hiring around

Private schools in the emirate are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education. A tutor worth hiring will ask which school, because internal deadlines, option blocks and assessment calendars differ between them even within one district.

  • Our Own English High School, Fujairah
  • Fujairah Private Academy
  • Al Ameer English School, Fujairah
  • Indian School Fujairah

Schools outside the emirate in the same conversation

East-coast families comparing provision often have a second school in view, in Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah or Dubai, each under a different regulator. A provider should be able to work with either calendar rather than assuming a Dubai term structure.

  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • Scholars International Academy, Sharjah
  • RAK Academy
  • Raffles World Academy
  • Uptown International School

Schools are named only as context for the programmes available to families on this coast; no affiliation, endorsement or partnership with any school or group is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Ask the school first, before anyone else

Which criterion or topic is weakest, for how long, and what the school is already doing about it. That conversation is free, it is better informed than any provider, and it occasionally ends the matter. Bring its answer to every tutoring conversation afterwards as the brief rather than as a question.

  2. 02

Send the specifics, then judge the reply

The programme, the subject, the exact level, the school and the point in the term. A reply that asks what has already been submitted internally and when the next assessment falls is doing the job. A reply that quotes a monthly package without asking anything has answered a different question.

  3. 03

Use the free trial as an audition

Send a marked script in advance and listen for teaching rather than selling. By the end of the hour you want a named weakness, a view on how many weeks it needs, and a short written note. One lesson, no card details, and no obligation to continue afterwards.

  4. 04

Buy four weeks, not a term

Four weekly sessions with the same tutor is long enough to see movement on the targeted skill and short enough that a wrong decision costs little. Ask for a fresh marked piece at the end of it and compare. Only then commit to a term, and only for the subject where the evidence supports it.

  5. 05

Say it quickly if it is not working

Two poor sessions is enough. The subject gets rematched to a different tutor without a new fee, because an unsuitable pairing left in place out of politeness costs a family a term they cannot recover, particularly in DP2 or the spring of Year 11.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Claims that can be checked, not ranked

Every substantive claim on this page is either sourced to a named authority or testable in a single message: the permit, the market band, the delivery format, the exit terms. There is no rating, no review count and no student total, because we cannot show you the method behind one.

The diagnosis comes before the package

The first output is a written note naming the topic, question type or criterion where marks are going, with a realistic number of weeks attached. Sometimes it says the school already has it covered, which is a legitimate outcome of an honest first session.

Specialists rather than proximity

On this coast the required specialist frequently lives elsewhere. Online matching draws on everyone who teaches the subject at the level and can make a Gulf Standard Time slot, which is a larger pool than any twenty-minute radius around Fujairah City contains.

A stated coverage limit

Where no UAE-based tutor covers a narrow subject at a workable hour, you are told before paying and offered a specialist elsewhere teaching into this time zone, or an honest wait. The competitor research found no ranking page in this cluster that discloses a limit at all.

Coursework boundaries in writing

A tutor teaches the criteria, questions a research design and responds to the student's own drafts. No text, no sections, no editing to completion, and no redistribution of board papers or mark schemes. That protects the candidate, which is the only protection that matters.

Rematch rather than persuasion

If two sessions show the pairing is wrong, the subject moves to a different tutor without a new fee. No provider matches perfectly every time, and the useful question is what happens next rather than whether the first attempt was flawless.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Fujairah: your questions answered

Is there such a thing as a best IB tutor, or only a best match?+

Only a match, because no UAE authority rates or ranks tutoring providers and nothing would make a ranking checkable. What exists instead is fit: a tutor who has taught your child's subject at the exact level, who can mark a script against the published criteria, who holds the MoHRE private tuition permit, and whose slot suits your household. Those four things are verifiable in a couple of messages. A provider who answers them precisely has told you more than any superlative, and the pattern of what they avoid answering is informative too.

How should I read a tutoring site's star rating and review count?+

With scepticism, and preferably by ignoring it. The competitor research behind this site found one page displaying two different ratings with two different review counts, and another claiming a perfect score from twenty reviews alongside a four-figure claim for students taught. Self-asserted review markup breaches Google's structured-data policy and is unverifiable by design. A more useful request is to ask the tutor directly whether two current families would speak to you, and to judge the trial session you can observe yourself.

What qualifications actually predict good IB teaching?+

Subject depth at the level being taught, plus experience of the assessment. A degree in the subject matters more than a general teaching award, and having taught the specific course for several cohorts matters more than either. Ask how many years they have taught the Higher Level course, which papers students struggle with, and what a particular answer lost two marks on. Vague answers about passion for learning are not qualifications. The strongest single test is watching them mark your child's work and explain each lost mark.

How much weight should I give a tutor's claim to have marked IB papers?+

Treat it as neutral unless it is evidenced, and never as a route to inside knowledge. Examiner status is widely claimed and rarely demonstrable, and it should not be presented as access to marking, grade boundaries or paper content, which it is not. We do not describe tutors as examiners without evidence of current status. What correlates with results is whether the tutor marks your child's script against published criteria and teaches the gap. Ask them to do that in the trial, and judge the demonstration rather than the label.

How long should it take to be matched for a Fujairah student's subject?+

For mainstream subjects at the usual levels, a day or two. For narrow requests - Higher Level Computer Science, Additional Mathematics, a minority language - it can take longer or prove impossible at a workable hour, and that is the answer a family should get rather than a substitute. Ask the question directly: who exactly is available, at what times, with what history in this syllabus. A provider who promises a match before checking availability is making a commitment on someone else's behalf.

What should be visibly different four weeks into a good match?+

Not necessarily a better grade, because four weeks is short and anyone promising one is promising what they cannot control. What should be visible is movement in the specific thing being targeted: working set out so a mark scheme can follow it, a conclusion that evaluates rather than describes, a data question attempted instead of abandoned. The student should also be able to explain what they are working on and why. If neither is true and the tutor cannot say why, change the approach or the tutor.

How do I compare two tutors who both sound convincing on a call?+

Stop talking and watch them teach. Give each a copy of the same marked script in advance, and compare what they do with it in the trial: whether they name specific lost marks, whether they ask the student to attempt something, whether they set work at the end. Two trials is an hour each and it settles the question better than any amount of discussion. Also compare the written note afterwards, because the tutor who writes a clear one is usually the one who has an actual plan.

Does a higher hourly rate mean better teaching?+

Up to a point, then no. Published market bands run from roughly AED 45 to 150 for budget online help, AED 150 to 300 for qualified subject tutors online, AED 200 to 450 and beyond for IB and IGCSE specialists, and up to AED 650 at a premium named tier. Moving from the budget band to the specialist band buys genuine subject depth for a narrow problem. Moving to the premium tier buys reputation, and the research found those claims the least evidenced in this market. The in-home band largely buys travel.

Why will nobody quote me a price in dirhams?+

Because a vague price lets the quote adjust to the enquiry, which is why the figures on this page are published as market bands with their source stated instead. One competitor's own frequently-asked-questions section asks what tutoring costs and then declines to answer it. The questions to insist on are the hourly figure, the smallest unit you can buy, whether written notes are included, and whether the rate changes closer to the examination session. A provider unwilling to put those four in writing has given you an answer.

Is a Dubai agency better than an online match for an east-coast family?+

For teaching, it depends entirely on the individual tutor; for logistics, the arithmetic is against it. A tutor crossing the Hajar mountains spends close to three hours on a one-hour lesson, which is why published in-home rates reach AED 500 and why the far slot is the first one cancelled in a difficult week. Over thirty teaching weeks, four lost sessions is more than a month of teaching gone. Ask any agency quoting for travel what happens when the road is slow, and get the answer before the exam term.

What does a UAE address with an overseas contact number tell me?+

That the published claims are not reliable, which matters more than the detail itself. The competitor research found UAE pages routing parents to numbers in other countries and one showing a Dubai footer address on an Abu Dhabi page. A provider should be able to say plainly where lessons are delivered from and where the tutor is based. We state it: lessons are delivered online, we hold no UAE office or centre, and home visits are a service we run only in India.

Can one tutor cover all six Diploma subjects?+

No, and an offer to try is a warning rather than a convenience. Higher Level Chemistry, Mathematics Analysis and Approaches and English A are three different specialisms with three different assessment structures, and the tutor who claims all of them usually teaches none at depth. One subject properly supported, chosen because it is costing the most marks, outperforms three covered thinly. If a family needs two subjects, that is two matches, and a provider should say so rather than stretching one person across both.

How much of a first session should be teaching rather than selling?+

Most of it. A free trial is useful only if it functions as a lesson: the tutor reads a marked piece of work, teaches, asks the student to attempt something, and ends by naming the weakness and roughly how long it will take to address. Forty minutes of rapport-building followed by a package recommendation is a sales call with a lesson attached. Send the marked work in advance so there is no excuse for the hour to be spent on introductions, and judge what actually happened in it.

What should I do if the school says outside tutoring is unnecessary?+

Take it seriously and ask for the specifics behind it. A teacher who says a child is secure and simply needs to complete the set work is often right, and that answer saves a family money. Ask which assessment evidence supports it and what the next piece of marked work should show. If the evidence arrives and matches, do nothing. If the same weakness appears again in the next marked piece, you now have a documented pattern, which is a far better brief for a tutor than a general worry.

Who should hold the plan: the parent, the student or the tutor?+

The student, with the parent holding the evidence and the tutor holding the teaching. A plan that lives only in the tutor's head produces a student who performs well in sessions and poorly in an examination hall where nobody prompts them. By the end of a term the student should be able to say what they are working on, why, and how they will know it has worked. That is the quiet test of whether the money was well spent, and it costs nothing to run at any point.

Replace the ranking question with a checklist

There is no league table of tutors in the UAE, so the useful work is verification rather than comparison. Ask the school what is weakest and for how long. Ask the provider for the permit, the exact level history, the hourly figure and the exit terms. Then use the free trial as an audition: send a marked script in advance and judge whether the hour produced a named weakness or a sales pitch. Four weeks of evidence after that is enough to commit or to change course. Lessons run live online, one-to-one, on Gulf Standard Time, from Fujairah City to Dibba Al-Fujairah.
