IB and IGCSE tutors for Fujairah City families

IB and IGCSE tutors in Fujairah City are reached over live video rather than by road, because the Hajar mountains sit between the east coast and every large private-school belt in the country. Households here are shaped by the port, the free zone and the airport, and their children sit a narrower range of courses than families in Dubai. One-to-one online teaching is what makes a Higher Level or Extended-tier specialist reachable at all from this side of the range.

  • Live one-to-one video lessons on Gulf Standard Time, no travel either way
  • Private schools in Fujairah are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education
  • Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel syllabus codes confirmed before a tutor is matched
  • Tutors mark and feed back on the student's own work, never author it

IB & IGCSE in Fujairah City

Fujairah City is on the wrong side of the mountains, and that is the whole academic problem

Fujairah is the only emirate with its coastline on the Gulf of Oman, and the Hajar mountains run between it and everywhere else. A parent in Fujairah City looking west at the private-school density of Dubai or Sharjah is looking at a ninety-minute to two-hour drive through Al Dhaid or over the Sharjah-Kalba road, which is not a school run and not a tutoring commute either. Every practical decision about a child's academic plan on this coast starts from that fact.

The households are distinctive too. A large share of working residents are tied to Port of Fujairah and the bunkering trade, to the Fujairah Free Zone, to the airport, or to the emirate's quarrying and cement operations. Shift patterns are common, which matters more for tutoring than people expect: a father on nights cannot supervise a 17:00 lesson, and a family where both parents work rotating shifts needs a slot that can move within an agreed window rather than one fixed for two years.

Then there is the resident mix. Fujairah City has a substantial Emirati population alongside long-settled Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Filipino and Egyptian communities, and the private-school offer reflects that: Indian-curriculum and British-curriculum schooling dominate, with the International Baccalaureate continuum barely represented in the emirate. A child here on an IB route is frequently at a school that does not run the programme their parents assumed would be available locally, or is enrolled west of the mountains with a weekly commute.

The three academic pressure points follow directly. The first is narrow subject choice: a school with one cohort per year group cannot offer six options at Higher Level, so a student's combination is constrained by timetable rather than by ability. The second is the specialist gap, which is sharper here than anywhere else in the country. The third is the transfer question, because many Fujairah City families change curriculum at least once, usually moving from an Indian board into International GCSE, or from International GCSE towards a sixth form west of the range.

IB Gram works on all three over live video, one to one. We do not send tutors to addresses anywhere in the UAE; home visits are an India-only service. For a family in Al Faseel or Sakamkam the gain from that is not comfort. It is that a student taking Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Physics, or Diploma Biology at Higher Level, is taught by someone who has marked that exact component, which is not a person who was ever going to drive over the mountains on a Tuesday evening.

What follows is written for this coast rather than for the UAE in general: who lives here and what their week looks like, what the drive times really are, which programmes exist locally and what to do when yours does not, how the private candidate route works when a school cannot offer a subject, what the federal Ministry of Education supervises, what the market charges, and how the Pearson Edexcel November series gives east-coast students a second attempt inside the same academic year.

Four routes cover nearly every Fujairah City student we work with. The useful question is not which is best in theory, but which one the local school can actually deliver at the level your child needs.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Terminal written papers at the end of two years, with syllabus codes that decide everything about preparation: Cambridge 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology; Pearson Edexcel 4MA1 Mathematics A, 4PH1 Physics. Cambridge splits several subjects into Core and Extended tiers, and the Core tier caps the grade a candidate can be awarded. Pearson offers some subjects in a modular structure, which changes when marks are banked.

This is the best-supported route on the east coast and the one most Fujairah City families on a British curriculum follow. The first job of any tutor here is to establish which board the school entered the student for and, in Cambridge subjects, which tier, because the two boards set different papers for identically named subjects.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria per subject, each marked out of eight, with the four totals converted into a single grade from one to seven. The later criteria reward investigation, communication and reflection rather than recall, so a student who knows the content can still score moderately if they cannot structure a written response to a command term.

Programme provision in the emirate is limited, so Fujairah City students on this route are often enrolled west of the mountains or at one of very few local sites. Parents here contact us mostly to interpret a criterion-based report, because letters and marks out of eight look nothing like the percentages an Indian or British report card shows.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects across three Higher Level and three Standard Level choices, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Every subject carries an internally assessed component marked by the school against published criteria and then moderated externally, alongside terminal papers that in most Higher Level courses include an extra paper not sat at Standard Level.

The scarcest route on this coast. A Fujairah City student taking Diploma Higher Level sciences or Economics is unlikely to find a local teacher who has marked that component before, which is exactly the situation remote one-to-one teaching exists to solve. We say how long a match will take before anything is booked.

CBSE-TO-IGCSEAges 13-16 · Years 9-11

Indian board to International GCSE transfer

Not a programme in itself, but the most common curriculum change on the east coast and one that needs planning rather than optimism. The content overlap in mathematics and the sciences is large; the assessment style is not. International GCSE papers reward structured extended answers, data interpretation and command-term precision, where an Indian board rewards accurate recall and worked solutions.

Fujairah City has long-established Indian-curriculum schools, and families who move a child towards a British sixth form usually do it at the start of Year 10. A transfer handled in the first term rarely costs a grade; one handled in Year 11 usually does, because the written-response habit takes a term of weekly practice to build.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the subjects east-coast families ask about most, with the specific point at which marks go missing. The pattern here differs from Dubai: more transfer students arriving from an Indian board, and more students taking a subject their school teaches to a single small cohort.

Mathematics (International GCSE)

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended; Pearson 4MA1 Foundation and Higher

Algebraic manipulation, trigonometry, probability and graph work. Transfer students from an Indian board usually arrive strong on computation and weak on the multi-step contextual questions that carry the top marks, where the method has to be chosen rather than applied.

Physics

IGCSE, DP SL and HL

Forces, electricity, waves and energy, with electricity the reliable stumbling block. Marks disappear on circuit reasoning and on the three-mark explanation, where students describe what happens without saying why it follows from a stated principle.

Chemistry

IGCSE, DP SL and HL

Bonding, moles, rates, equilibrium and organic reactions. The mole calculation is where International GCSE students lose most, and at Diploma level organic mechanisms reward recognising a pattern across reactions rather than memorising each one separately.

Biology

IGCSE, DP SL and HL

Cells, transport, genetics, physiology and ecology, with a heavy load of data and graph interpretation. Students who revise by rereading score on recall and lose on experimental design, control variables and the written evaluation of a method.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

DP HL and SL

Calculus, algebra and proof under time pressure. Two recurring losses: unjustified steps in a proof, and an exploration topic chosen so broadly that the student cannot treat it properly within the page allowance.

Economics

DP HL and SL

Micro, macro, the global economy and additional quantitative work at Higher Level. Diagram accuracy decides grades here: an unlabelled axis or a missing shift arrow converts a correct chain of reasoning into a partial mark.

Business Management

DP HL and SL

Marketing, operations, finance and organisational structure, with a case-study paper that penalises generic answers. The skill is applying a tool to the specific firm in the extract, which only develops through practice on unseen material.

English Language (International GCSE)

Cambridge and Pearson specifications

Reading comprehension of unseen non-fiction plus directed and extended writing. For students whose home language is not English, the directed-writing task is where structure, register and audience awareness are either visible or absent.

English: Language and Literature

DP HL and SL

Close analysis of literary and non-literary texts, an individual oral and, at Higher Level, a comparative essay. The usual east-coast gap is unseen commentary: plenty of rehearsal on studied texts, almost none on a passage met for the first time.

Arabic as a First Language

MYP and IGCSE

Standard Arabic grammar, literary analysis and extended writing at a markedly higher standard than the additional-language route. Demand for this stream is proportionally higher in Fujairah than in the western emirates, and it is one of the harder matches to make.

Arabic as an Additional Language

MYP and IGCSE

Listening, speaking, reading and writing at the level the school's licensed curriculum sets, running alongside the international programme. Weekly structured practice on the school's own material moves this line on a report faster than almost any other subject.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three patterns cover almost every east-coast request. All of them are one student with one tutor over live video, working from the student's own exercise book, past paper or draft on a shared screen.

Weekly one-to-one with a movable window

A standing session each week, but booked as an agreed two-hour window rather than a fixed minute, which is what shift-work households in Qidfa, Mirbah and Al Hail actually need. The tutor holds the window, the family confirms the exact start by the day before.

  • Same tutor and same day each week for the whole course
  • Start time confirmed within an agreed window, not renegotiated from scratch
  • Written note after every session naming what was covered and what to practise
  • Window re-based for Ramadan to post-Iftar hours before the month begins

Transfer bridge from an Indian board to International GCSE

A defined block of lessons for a student moving curriculum, usually at the start of Year 10. The aim is not more content; it is converting accurate recall into the structured extended answers that International GCSE papers reward.

  • Diagnostic on command terms and mark-scheme language in the first two sessions
  • Weekly timed written response marked against the board's own criteria
  • Topic gaps identified against the school's scheme of work, not a generic list
  • Steps down to maintenance once the written-response habit holds

Single-subject specialist cover for a scarce option

For the student whose school teaches their Higher Level subject to a cohort of two or three, or who is sitting something nobody local has taught. The lesson carries the specialist load the timetable cannot, alongside rather than instead of the school.

  • Match by assessment component, not by subject name alone
  • Honest match date given before payment, including when it is three weeks out
  • Work sequenced to the school's own deadlines and internal assessment calendar
  • Option to add a second subject with the same tutor where the pairing is genuine

IB and IGCSE tutors available to students in Fujairah City

Matching here is done on syllabus code and assessment component rather than location. An east-coast student sitting Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Chemistry is paired with someone who knows that paper structure, which is a different question from finding a chemistry graduate who lives within an hour of Fujairah City.

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Fujairah City

01

What a search for IB and IGCSE tutors in Fujairah City actually returns

The direct answer: IB and IGCSE tutors in Fujairah City are available from IB Gram as one-to-one lessons over live video, matched to the exact board, syllabus code and level the student sits, with a free first lesson before any commitment. Nobody attends a Fujairah address. Home visits are a service we run only in India, and that is true for every emirate.

A parent typing this search is usually asking one of two things. Either they have tried to find a local specialist and discovered how short the list is, or they have been quoted by somebody willing to drive from Sharjah and realised what that adds to the hourly rate and to the chance of a cancelled lesson. Both roads lead to the same place, which is why the honest version of this page is about supply rather than convenience.

The second thing worth saying immediately is that the subject matters more than the location. A Year 10 mathematics or English request from Fujairah City can usually be filled in a few days. A Diploma Higher Level Chemistry or Economics request takes one to three weeks, and Arabic as a first language can take longer. We give that date up front, because a parent planning around a real timeline makes better decisions than one reassured in October and disappointed in November.

Everything below is structured around the east coast specifically. The mountain barrier and what it does to planning, which programmes exist locally, the private candidate route when a school cannot offer a subject, what the federal Ministry of Education supervises and requires, the market rate in AED, and the Pearson Edexcel November series as a second attempt inside the same year.

02

Who lives in Fujairah City, and what each household needs from a timetable

Fujairah City households are organised around a small number of employers: the port and the bunkering trade, the free zone, the airport, the power and desalination plants up the coast at Qidfa, the quarries inland, and the emirate's government and services sector. That is a very different mix from Dubai's, and it produces a very different week.

Shift work is the single biggest scheduling variable. A household where one or both parents rotate shifts cannot reliably supervise a fixed 17:00 lesson for a twelve-year-old, and a slot that fails twice a month stops being a slot. Our answer here is a window rather than a minute: the tutor holds a two-hour band on a fixed day, and the family confirms the start the day before. It sounds administratively fussier and in practice it is the thing that keeps attendance at the level where progress happens.

The second variable is curriculum mix inside one family. It is common in Merashid or Sakamkam to find one child on an Indian board, a second on International GCSE and a third in a Ministry-supervised school with a different timetable again. Parents sometimes ask for a single shared session to cover two children. We decline that, because two syllabuses in one hour halves the teaching for both, and instead set separate shorter slots on different days.

The third is language. Many Fujairah City students are working in English as an additional language while also carrying Arabic as a first language to a high standard. That combination is demanding in a way a report card does not show, and it is the reason extended-writing support in English and in Arabic are two of the most requested lines on this coast rather than niche extras.

The Hajar mountains: real drive times and what they rule out

Distance on this coast is not measured in kilometres. It is measured in mountain road, and the numbers decide which options are genuinely open to a family in Fujairah City. The drive west towards Sharjah and Dubai runs either through Al Dhaid or over the Sharjah-Kalba road, and in both cases it is an hour and a half to two hours each way in normal conditions.

That rules out a daily commute to a Dubai campus for all but a handful of determined households, and it rules out a car-borne tutor almost entirely. A tutor willing to drive from Sharjah for a sixty-minute lesson is spending three hours in a car for one hour of teaching, and the hourly rate reflects that whether it is itemised or not. It also makes the lesson fragile, because rain in the mountains, a wadi crossing or an accident on a single-carriageway stretch can remove a session with no notice.

There is a quieter consequence that matters more. Because the drive is what it is, the local pool of people who teach a specific syllabus is effectively the local pool, full stop. In Dubai a scarce subject is a search problem. On the east coast it is a supply problem, and no amount of searching changes the answer. That is the reason online delivery here is not a cheaper version of something better; it is the thing that makes a specialist reachable at all.

We plan around the geography rather than pretending it is not there. Lesson slots are set against the actual local school day. Travel weeks, long weekends away from the emirate and school trips are built into the topic sequence in advance. And for families with a child enrolled west of the range, the useful sessions are Friday afternoon and the weekend, because a two-hour return journey leaves nothing in a Tuesday evening.

Which programmes exist on the east coast, and what to do when yours does not

Programme availability in Fujairah is genuinely narrow, and a page that implies otherwise is not helping. Indian-curriculum schooling is well established in and around Fujairah City. The British route through International GCSE is available. The IB continuum is barely present in the emirate, so a child on a Primary Years or Middle Years route is often either at one of very few sites or enrolled west of the mountains.

The structural reason is cohort size. A school running a single class per year group cannot timetable six Diploma options at Higher Level, or offer three separate sciences and two mathematics routes, because the staffing arithmetic does not work. That is not a criticism of any school; it is what a small catchment does. The consequence for a parent is that a child's subject combination may be decided by the timetable grid before anybody discusses ability or ambition.

There are three honest responses. The first is to accept the local combination and use specialist one-to-one teaching to carry the subject the school teaches thinly. The second is to use the private candidate route for a subject the school cannot offer at all, which is covered in the next section. The third is to move the child west, which is a relocation or boarding decision rather than an academic one and should be costed as such.

What we will not do is suggest that remote tutoring substitutes for a programme the school does not run. A tutor cannot enter a candidate for an examination, cannot supervise a practical scheme of work, and cannot award an internally assessed mark. Those are the school's functions as an examination centre, and any service implying otherwise is misdescribing what it sells.

05

The private candidate route when a school cannot offer the subject

This is the section nobody in this market writes, and on the east coast it is the one with the most practical value. If a Fujairah City school does not timetable a subject your child wants to sit, International GCSE boards allow entry as a private candidate through a registered examination centre, subject to the board's own rules and the centre's willingness to accept external entries.

The mechanics matter. The centre, not the family and not a tutor, makes the entry, which means the first task is finding a centre that accepts private candidates and confirming in writing that it will take the specific syllabus and series. Some subjects are effectively closed to private candidates because they carry a coursework or practical component that requires supervision by the teaching school, so the subject list available to an external candidate is shorter than the full catalogue.

Timing is unforgiving, and it runs on the board's calendar rather than the school's. A UAE candidate sits Cambridge IGCSE, O Level and International A Level in a June series or a November series; the February sitting Cambridge also runs is offered in India only, so it is not a route from Fujairah. Count a June series backwards and the sequence is plain: entries are made by the centre, and closed, months before the first paper, which means the decision to enter sits in the spring term rather than the week revision starts. The exact closing date is published in Cambridge's exams officers' guide and repeated on the candidate's own statement of entry, so take it from there rather than from a tutor. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series and a live final timetable per series. A family that starts looking for a centre in May for a June series has already missed the step that mattered.

A tutor's role in this is teaching and nothing else. We can cover the full syllabus content and paper technique for a private candidate, mark timed papers against the published mark scheme and sequence the work towards the series date. We cannot enter the candidate, cannot act as a centre, cannot supply board past papers or mark schemes as downloads, and cannot supervise a practical component. Those limits are worth hearing before the plan is built on them.

Federal supervision, and what the Ministry of Education will want later

Fujairah does not have its own emirate-level education authority. Private schools in Fujairah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education, while Dubai answers to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to the Department of Education and Knowledge, Sharjah to the Sharjah Private Education Authority, and Ras Al Khaimah to its Department of Knowledge. A family moving from Fujairah City to Dubai changes regulator as well as address.

What this means in practice is that parents here will not find a local inspection brand with a six-band published rating the way Dubai families do. The federal baseline still applies: private schools are not obliged to follow a specific national curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but they must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations. That is the rule which puts Arabic and Islamic Education onto an International GCSE timetable in Fujairah City just as firmly as anywhere else.

The Ministry matters a second time, years later, at equivalency. A student finishing an international qualification in Fujairah and applying to a UAE university needs their certificate recognised, and the published British-track requirement is specific: five accredited subjects at GCSE or International GCSE with a grade no lower than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count of five, plus one accredited Advanced Level subject at grade E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. One ranking competitor states six subjects; that does not match the published rule.

For the American track the published detail is different again: English proficiency through a score of 5 in the academic IELTS, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and mathematics through at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying. No IB points threshold is published in that source, so no figure for the IB route appears on this page. Equivalency is a process the Ministry runs and a parent applies for; IB Gram neither performs it nor guarantees it, and tutoring is not a requirement for it.

What tutoring costs on the east coast, in AED

Most visible tutoring sites in this market publish no price, and the ones that do quote in US dollars, which is not a currency a Fujairah family transacts in. The figures below are market rates taken from published competitor pages and from Bestimate's 2026 Dubai tutoring cost table. They describe the market, not an IB Gram price list, and they are here because a family planning two years of support needs something to plan against.

Rates on the east coast behave in a way that surprises people. Generalist homework support is cheap and easy to find. Specialist teaching costs the same as it does in Dubai, because the scarcity setting that price is national. And anything involving a car costs more here than anywhere else in the country, since a tutor driving from Sharjah is pricing three hours of travel into a one-hour lesson whether the invoice says so or not.

Session length changes the arithmetic more than families expect. A sixty-minute lesson is the right unit for maintenance and for younger students. Ninety minutes is the right unit for extended writing, for a case study, for marking a full paper together, and for any week where the student has a draft to work through. Two sixty-minute sessions in a week cost more than one ninety-minute session and are usually the better buy during a transfer or a catch-up block; the reverse is true in a steady exam year.

One cost note specific to Fujairah. Families who stop lessons over a long summer absence and restart in September usually spend more across a two-year course than those who keep a reduced schedule, because re-diagnosis eats lesson time that teaching should have had. If budget is the constraint, a fortnightly slot held continuously beats a weekly slot that stops for two months.

The Pearson Edexcel November series as a second attempt inside one year

No competitor page in this cluster names an examination session at all, which means the single most useful planning fact for an east-coast family goes unmentioned: Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs two series each academic year, so a disappointing summer result does not have to cost a full year.

The published pattern is clear. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations are available in May or June and in November each year. The November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson also publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, which is why the live official timetable is the only document worth working from.

Read those dates in sequence and the planning window appears on its own. A student who receives a summer result on 20 August and wants to improve it has roughly nine weeks before a November paper begins. That is enough time to move a grade on a single subject with concentrated weekly work on past papers, and it is not enough to re-teach three subjects from scratch. Choosing one subject rather than three is usually the decision that makes the difference.

Cambridge sits on a different rhythm, with a June series and a November series for UAE centres, alongside Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October that are not IGCSE papers and should not be read as one. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states plainly that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. IB session and results dates are set by the IB; confirm those with your school's coordinator, which is why none are printed here.

Where east-coast students lose marks, subject by subject

  • Command-term precision: evaluate, justify, compare and suggest demand different structures
  • Timed extended writing, marked against the board's criteria rather than read and praised
  • Mole calculations and circuit reasoning, the two reliable International GCSE science losses
  • Diagram labelling in Economics: an unlabelled axis turns a correct argument into a partial mark
  • Experimental design and method evaluation, the questions transfer students have met least

Lost marks on this coast follow a pattern that differs from the western emirates, because the student population differs. A high proportion of Fujairah City candidates are working in English as an additional language, and a high proportion have transferred from a board that rewarded accurate recall. Both of those show up in predictable places on an International GCSE or Diploma paper.

The first is command terms. A question that says evaluate, justify, compare or suggest is asking for a specific structure, and a student who answers all four verbs the same way loses marks they have the knowledge to earn. This is the single highest-yield thing to teach a transfer student, and it moves a grade faster than any amount of additional content.

The second is extended written response under time pressure. Students who can explain a concept out loud frequently cannot produce three linked paragraphs about it in fifteen minutes, and no amount of rereading notes fixes that. The only remedy is writing to time, weekly, with the response marked against the board's own criteria and returned annotated so the next attempt starts from the correction.

The third is data and practical work. Diploma sciences and International GCSE sciences both carry a heavy load of graph reading, experimental design, control variables and method evaluation, and these are the questions transfer students have usually met least. We work from the student's own laboratory write-ups and the school's own data rather than inventing exercises, which keeps the teaching tied to what the school will actually assess.

Online delivery and the honesty line, stated plainly

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE. No tutor will arrive at a house in Al Faseel, Sakamkam or Dibba, and there is no office or centre in the country to visit. Home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Writing that clearly on a page reached by a parent searching for a tutor in their own city is better than leaving it to a phone call.

A lesson is a live one-to-one video session. The student joins from a laptop or tablet, the tutor shares a whiteboard, and the student's own exercise book, past paper or draft is on screen. Written work is photographed, uploaded, marked against the published mark scheme or assessment criteria and returned annotated. For sciences the tutor works through the school's own practical write-ups and data; a tutor does not run an experiment, and neither does a classroom teacher when marking a laboratory report.

On assessed work the line is firm. The student is the sole author of a Middle Years Personal Project, a Diploma internal assessment, an Extended Essay, a Theory of Knowledge essay or any International GCSE coursework. A tutor may teach the published criteria, model the thinking on an unrelated example, question whether a conclusion follows from the data, and comment on a draft the student has already written. A tutor may not supply text for submission, rewrite a paragraph into its final form, or select and develop the research question on the student's behalf. One site ranking in this market sells finished internal assessments; under IB rules that is malpractice and the student carries the consequence.

Two further limits belong in the open. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated: individuals giving private lessons need the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, which is granted free of charge for two years and applied for through the Ministry's own smart app and e-services system. Those operating without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published, so no figure appears here. Separately, we do not arrange for a child to be taught privately, for a fee, by a teacher at their own school.

Where we tutor

Fujairah City and the east coast communities around it

The emirate is long and narrow, strung along the Gulf of Oman coast with enclaves inland and to the north. Each district has a different relationship to the city centre and to the mountain road, which changes what a workable lesson time looks like.

Fujairah City centre

The corniche, Hamad Bin Abdullah Road and the commercial core, with most of the emirate's private-school provision within a short drive. Students here have the widest choice of weekday slots, usually from 16:30.

Al Faseel

Coastal district north of the centre, largely residential with a mix of villas and low-rise apartments. Short runs to school, so an afternoon slot is realistic even for younger students.

Sakamkam

Established residential area inland from the corniche with a long-settled population. Arabic as a first language and Islamic Education requests cluster here more than on the newer coastal plots.

Merashid

Residential district close to the city with a mix of local and expatriate households. Families here frequently have children on two different curricula, which rules out a shared lesson slot.

Madhab

Inland towards the mountains and the hot springs, with longer school runs and almost no margin before 17:30. Evening slots at 18:30 or later are the reliable option for secondary students.

Al Gurfa

South along the coast road towards Kalba, with a longer commute into the city for school. A single ninety-minute weekly session often works better here than two shorter ones.

Qidfa and Mirbah

Coastal settlements north of the city near the power and desalination plants. Shift-work households are common, so lesson times are agreed as a window rather than a fixed hour.

Dibba Al Fujairah

The northern enclave on the Musandam border, a genuine distance from the city and with its own small school provision. Students taking less common subjects here have the thinnest local options in the country.

Al Hail

Inland district with industrial and quarrying employment nearby. Parents often work rotating shifts, and a slot that can move within an agreed two-hour band keeps attendance consistent.

Fujairah City and the coastal districts

The emirate's private provision is concentrated here and is dominated by Indian curricula and the British International GCSE route. A single cohort per year group is normal, which is the structural reason subject choice narrows at sixteen.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the school, the board and the syllabus code

Subject alone is not enough on this coast. A Fujairah City student taking chemistry could be on Cambridge 0620 Core, Cambridge Extended, Pearson 4CH1 or Diploma Standard Level, and those are four different preparations. We ask for the school, the code if you have it, and the most recent report.

  2. 02

Hear the honest match date before you pay

Core International GCSE subjects are usually matched within a few days. Diploma Higher Level sciences, Economics, Business Management and Arabic as a first language take one to three weeks or longer. We give that date up front rather than filling the slot with a generalist and hoping.

  3. 03

    Take the free first lesson

The first lesson costs nothing and carries no obligation to continue. It is diagnostic rather than promotional: the tutor works through something the student finds hard and sends a short written note afterwards naming the actual gap. If the match is wrong we change the tutor instead of asking you to persevere.

  4. 04

Agree a window, not a minute

For shift-work households the slot is a fixed day and a two-hour band, with the exact start confirmed the day before. For families with a child enrolled west of the mountains, Friday afternoon and the weekend are where the useful ninety-minute sessions live. Ramadan timings are re-based before the month starts.

  5. 05

Work from marked papers towards the series date

Lessons are built on questions the student has got wrong, marked against the board's own scheme and returned annotated. Progress is reviewed every six to eight weeks against what the examination series needs by that date, including entry deadlines, so extra hours are a decision taken early rather than a scramble.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The mountains stop deciding who teaches your child

A car-borne tutor on the east coast is choosing from whoever will drive the Sharjah-Kalba road for one hour of teaching. A live video lesson is chosen from everyone who teaches that syllabus on Gulf Standard Time. For a scarce Higher Level option that is not a preference, it is the difference between a specialist and nobody.

Scheduling built for shift work

A fixed minute fails in a household where a parent rotates shifts, and a slot that fails twice a month stops producing progress. A fixed day with a two-hour window, confirmed the day before, keeps attendance where it needs to be without constant renegotiation.

Availability stated before the invoice

If the subject and level you need has no tutor teaching from inside the UAE, we say so and offer the alternative. No competitor in this market publishes a coverage limit, which is why families so often meet one after they have paid rather than before.

Board and tier confirmed first

Cambridge and Pearson set different papers for identically named subjects, and the Cambridge Core tier caps the grade available. A term spent preparing the wrong paper is the most expensive mistake in this market and it is entirely avoidable with one written confirmation from the school.

Dates and figures carry their source

Every examination date on this page comes from Cambridge or Pearson and is attributed. Every AED figure is attributed to the provider or survey that published it. No IB session date appears here because the IB's own calendar should be confirmed with your school's coordinator rather than copied from a tutoring page.

The student remains the author

Tutors teach criteria, mark timed work and comment on drafts the student wrote. They do not supply text for submission or develop a research question for a student, and we explain why: under IB rules the consequence of that kind of help falls on the candidate, not on the tutor.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Fujairah City: your questions answered

Is there IB Diploma provision in Fujairah, or do we have to look west of the mountains?+

The International Baccalaureate continuum is barely represented in the emirate, so most Fujairah City families on an IB route are either at one of very few local sites or enrolled west of the Hajar range. The structural reason is cohort size: a school with one class per year group cannot timetable six Higher Level options. If your child is already on the Diploma, one-to-one specialist teaching can carry a thinly taught subject alongside school. If they are not yet enrolled, a continuum place is a relocation decision rather than an academic one.

How long is the drive from Fujairah City to the Dubai school belt in practice?+

Allow 100 to 140 minutes each way, either over the Sharjah-Kalba road or inland through Al Dhaid, and more after heavy rain in the mountains. Sharjah city is 90 to 120 minutes. Those numbers rule out a daily commute for all but a few determined households and they rule out a car-borne tutor almost entirely, because three hours of driving gets priced into a one-hour lesson whether the invoice itemises it or not. It is the single clearest argument for teaching over live video here.

Who supervises private schools in Fujairah City?+

The federal Ministry of Education, which supervises private schools in Fujairah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain. The other emirates each have their own body: the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, the Department of Education and Knowledge in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the Sharjah Private Education Authority, and the Department of Knowledge in Ras Al Khaimah. Practically, this means Fujairah parents will not find a local inspection brand with a published six-band rating. IB Gram holds no approval or licence from any of these bodies and does not claim one.

Can my daughter sit a Cambridge subject as a private candidate if her Fujairah school does not teach it?+

Often yes, subject to the board's rules and to finding a registered centre willing to accept external entries. The centre makes the entry, not the family and not a tutor, so the first step is written confirmation that a centre will take that specific syllabus and series. Subjects carrying a supervised coursework or practical component are usually closed to private candidates, so the available list is shorter than the full catalogue. Start six to nine months ahead. For a Pearson Edexcel International GCSE November sitting the papers themselves are late: the November 2026 timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, and results reached students on 22 January 2026 for the equivalent 2025 series. The entry, though, is lodged by the centre long before the papers, which is why a family deciding in September is usually too late for that November.

Does a tutor travel to our house in Al Faseel or Sakamkam?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE, and there is no office or centre in the country either. Home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Lessons are one to one over live video, with a shared whiteboard and the student's own exercise book, past paper or draft on screen, and written work photographed, uploaded, marked and returned annotated. We put this in writing before a first lesson is booked, because it is a real difference between us and a local agency rather than a detail.

My son is on an Indian board but wants a British sixth form - what actually has to change?+

Less content than you would think and more technique than most families expect. The overlap in mathematics and the sciences is large, but International GCSE papers reward structured extended answers, command-term precision and data interpretation, where an Indian board rewards accurate recall and clean worked solutions. The practical fix is a weekly timed written response marked against the board's own criteria. Handled at the start of Year 10 the transfer rarely costs a grade; left until Year 11 it usually does, because the writing habit needs a term.

What does a ninety-minute session cost on the east coast?+

Using published market figures rather than our own price list: a budget or university-student tutor works out around AED 70 to 225 for ninety minutes, a qualified subject tutor around AED 225 to 450, and an IB or IGCSE specialist around AED 300 to 675 and above, with one provider publishing AED 650 an hour. Ninety minutes is the right unit for extended writing, case studies and marking a full paper together; sixty minutes suits maintenance and younger students. Our own pricing conversation starts with the free first lesson.

When do Pearson Edexcel November results actually reach students?+

The published precedent is January. November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, and the November 2026 examination window runs from late October to 19 November 2026. Working forward from the summer, June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, which leaves roughly nine weeks before November papers begin. That is enough to move one subject with concentrated past-paper work and not enough to re-teach three, so choosing a single subject is usually the decision that matters.

The mountain road closes after heavy rain - does weather disrupt lessons?+

Not for an online lesson, which is one of the quieter advantages here. Rain in the Hajar range, a flooded wadi crossing or an accident on a single-carriageway stretch can remove a car-borne session with no notice, and on this coast that happens often enough to matter across a two-year course. A video lesson needs a connection and a quiet room, not a road. Where a power or connectivity interruption does hit, the session is rescheduled within the same week rather than written off.

Which subjects can you not reliably staff from inside the UAE?+

Diploma Higher Level sciences, Economics, Business Management, Psychology and Arabic as a first language are the thin ones, with typical match times of one to three weeks and sometimes longer. Core International GCSE mathematics, English and the separate sciences are usually matched within a few days. When no tutor teaching from inside the UAE covers your subject and level, we say so and offer a specialist based elsewhere working on Gulf Standard Time. The format is identical, because every UAE lesson is online anyway.

Does a Fujairah private school still have to teach Arabic and Islamic Education?+

Yes. The federal position is that private schools are not obliged to follow a specific national curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, while adhering to the Ministry's general regulations. Dubai's authority publishes the clearest working detail and it is instructive nationally: Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies run as separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students, combined classes are prohibited, and for mandatory subjects the use of different or additional content without prior Ministry permission is prohibited. A tutor therefore works from the school's own material.

What does the Ministry of Education require for equivalency on the American track?+

The published requirement covers English and mathematics separately. English proficiency is shown through a score of 5 in the academic IELTS, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT. Mathematics requires at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying. No International Baccalaureate points threshold appears in that published source, so no IB figure is quoted on this page. Equivalency is a Ministry process that the family applies for, not something a tutoring service performs, and tutoring is not required for it.

Can one tutor take two of my children on different curricula in the same session?+

We do not do that, and the reason is arithmetic rather than policy. Two syllabuses in one hour halves the teaching for both children, and the one who is behind gets the attention while the other sits through material they already know. What works instead is separate shorter slots on different days, which is what most Merashid and Sakamkam households with children on an Indian board and an International GCSE route end up with. The same tutor can often take both subjects where the pairing is genuine.

We work rotating shifts at the port - can the lesson time move week to week?+

Yes, and it is the standard pattern for port, bunkering and free-zone families here. The slot is booked as a fixed day with an agreed two-hour window, and you confirm the exact start the day before. The tutor holds the window rather than a single minute. It is slightly more administration and it is the thing that keeps attendance at the level where progress actually happens, because a fixed 17:00 that fails twice a month stops being a lesson plan.

If a coursework deadline is tomorrow, will a tutor help get it finished?+

Not in the way the question implies, and the answer does not change when the deadline is close. A tutor may teach the published criteria, model the thinking on an unrelated example, ask whether a conclusion follows from the data, and comment on a draft the student has already written. A tutor will not supply text for submission or rewrite a paragraph into its final form. The test we use: after the session, could the student explain every sentence in their own document unaided? Under IB rules the consequence of crossing that line falls on the candidate.

How do I check that a private tutor is permitted to teach in the UAE?+

Private tutoring here is regulated by permit. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is applied for through the Ministry's smart app, website and e-services system under the service name for private tutor licensing. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Ask any tutor teaching from inside the UAE to show you theirs.

Tell us the subject and we will tell you how long the match takes

Families in Fujairah City, Al Faseel, Sakamkam, Madhab and Dibba get the same first answer from us: the school, the board, the syllabus code, and then an honest date for when a specialist in that exact course is available. Sometimes that is a few days. For Higher Level sciences, Economics or Arabic as a first language it is one to three weeks, and we would rather say so than fill the slot with a generalist. The first lesson is free and ends with a written note on the real gap. Every lesson is one to one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with the time set as a window if shift work needs it.
