IGCSE Home Tutor in Fujairah City

Looking for an IGCSE home tutor in Fujairah City means comparing the city against the coastal villages, and then against the Sharjah enclaves up the road, and then against driving to Dubai at the weekend. This page runs that comparison properly. IB Gram teaches Fujairah City students one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, matched to the Cambridge or Pearson code on the statement of entry. The first lesson is free.

IB & IGCSE in Fujairah City

Fujairah City, the coastal villages, and the drive nobody wants to make

An IGCSE search on the east coast runs through the same four options in the same order. First Fujairah City, because that is where the private schools are. Then the villages: Sakamkam, Al Faseel, Merashid, Al Gurfa, Dibba. Then the Sharjah enclaves up the coast, Khor Fakkan and Dibba Al-Hisn, on the theory that a different emirate might hold a different teacher. Then, reluctantly, the mountain road to Sharjah or Dubai for a weekend session. This page is that comparison, worked out, with the figures attached.

Here is the short version. Fujairah City is the only one of those options with a meaningful concentration of private-school teaching staff, and that concentration is small. The emirate's private schools run British, Indian and bilingual curricula with modest year groups, which means narrow option blocks and very little spare teacher capacity. Move out to the villages and you lose even that. Move up to Khor Fakkan or Dibba Al-Hisn and you change regulator without changing the labour market, because those towns are Sharjah territory under the Sharjah Private Education Authority while Fujairah sits under the federal Ministry of Education.

The Dubai option is the one families take most seriously and regret most often. A weekend session in Sharjah or Dubai costs two to three hours of driving on top of the hour of teaching, and the mountain road in the dark is not a trivial journey. Parents do it for one term and then stop, usually in the middle of the term that mattered.

What makes all four comparisons collapse into one answer is that the scarce thing is not proximity. It is a person who has marked the specific paper your child is entered for. Cambridge 0620 Paper 4 and Pearson 4CH1 Paper 1 are different instruments. A tutor who is strong on one is not automatically useful on the other, and the number of people on this coast who are strong on either is small enough to count. Driving further does not create one. A parent in Sakamkam and a parent in Al Faseel will be handed the same three or four names, because those names come out of the same staff rooms, and the schools those staff rooms belong to serve every district on this list.

So IB Gram's answer for Fujairah City is online, one-to-one, over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, with the tutor matched to the syllabus code rather than to the distance from your street. There are no home visits anywhere in the UAE; that is an India-only service, and a page that implied otherwise for the east coast would be selling something nobody can deliver. The rest of this page gives you the district-by-district comparison, the AED figures with sources, the online-against-in-home trade-off, and the exam calendar a Fujairah family has to track.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

An IGCSE enquiry in Fujairah City usually concerns one of three stages, and each needs something different from a tutor. The village pages on this site cover the same stages from their own angles.

KS3Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Lower Secondary (Years 7-9)

No external exam, which is why weak foundations travel forward unnoticed. The Year 10 repair work is almost always Year 8 content: indices and fractions in maths, rearranging formulae in science, paragraph control in English. Intervening here is cheaper than intervening in Year 11.

In Fujairah City year groups are small, so a student who is quietly behind is visible to the teacher but there is rarely a parallel set to move them into. That makes external support at this stage more useful here than in a larger market, where the school itself can absorb the problem.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

International GCSE (Years 10-11)

Two years, examined entirely at the end by Cambridge International or Pearson Edexcel. Each subject has its own paper structure and its own tiering. The grade on the certificate is what MoE equivalency and university admission read, so a near-miss in Year 11 has consequences a mock does not.

Option blocks on this coast are narrower than in Dubai, so Fujairah City students sometimes take a subject because it is timetabled rather than because it was chosen. That is a specific reason to check tier and board early, since a Core entry made for timetabling reasons caps the grade available.

POST-16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

A Level and Diploma routes after Year 11

IGCSE grades decide which post-16 courses are open. Most A Level sciences expect a grade 6 or 7 in the same subject, and Higher Level IB expects comparable attainment. A grade missed in June closes a door that was open in March.

Post-16 choice is where east-coast families most often leave the emirate, sometimes for weekly boarding in Sharjah or Ras Al Khaimah. That makes the Year 11 grade profile unusually decisive in Fujairah City, because it determines whether staying local is even an option.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IGCSE subjects Fujairah families ask about, each described by where marks actually go missing. Codes are named because paper structure follows the code, not the subject name.

Mathematics 0580 / 4MA1

Core and Extended / Foundation and Higher

Extended candidates lose most on functions, graph transformations and conditional probability in tree diagrams. Method marks sit on nearly every question, so unshown working is the biggest avoidable loss. Pearson supplies a formula sheet; Cambridge does not, which changes what has to be memorised.

Physics 0625 / 4PH1

Core and Extended / single tier

Circuits are the reliable failure point: potential dividers, and distinguishing potential difference across a component from current through it. The alternative-to-practical paper rewards writing a method with a named control variable, which students rarely practise.

Chemistry 0620 / 4CH1

Core and Extended / single tier

Moles calculations and the qualitative-analysis tables carry a disproportionate share of lost marks. Electrolysis half-equations must balance charge as well as atoms. Organic answers are usually fine on naming and weak on reaction conditions, which is what the longer questions ask for.

Biology 0610 / 4BI1

Core and Extended / single tier

Content volume rather than difficulty. Enzymes, transport and inheritance reward defined vocabulary used precisely, and examiners reject loose paraphrase of terms like active transport. Six-mark answers need a mechanism in sequence, not a list of facts.

English as a Second Language 0510 / 0511

Core and Extended

Comprehension marks are lost by lifting whole sentences when the question asks for two specific details. The summary task has a marked word limit. Speaking is assessed separately and is rarely practised under timed conditions until the final fortnight.

Business Studies 0450 / 4BS1

Single tier

Case-study application separates grades. Students know break-even and cash flow and then answer in the abstract when the scheme wants the figures from the stimulus used. Evaluation marks need a judgement with a stated condition.

Economics 0455 / 4EC1

Single tier

Diagrams are marked on labelled axes, labelled curves, the shift drawn and the new equilibrium identified. Fluent prose above an unlabelled diagram earns nothing for the diagram. Data-response answers must use the figures in the extract.

Computer Science 0478

Single tier

The board's own pseudocode conventions are examinable, so fluent Python coders still lose marks. Trace tables under timed conditions and the validation-versus-verification distinction are the two most reliable mark earners on the paper.

Additional Mathematics 0606

Single tier

Calculus, logarithms and the binomial theorem at a depth 0580 never reaches, taken as a bridge to A Level. Teaching capacity for this paper on the east coast is effectively nil, which is the clearest single case for online delivery in this emirate.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats a Fujairah City family can actually get. They differ on cost, on how quickly a specialist can be found, and on how much of the fee pays for a car journey.

Weekly one-to-one over live video

A fixed weekly slot with the same tutor on Gulf Standard Time, working from your child's own exercise book and past papers shared on screen. This is the format IB Gram delivers to Fujairah City and to every other UAE address, and it is the only one where the tutor is chosen for the paper rather than for the postcode.

  • Same tutor each week, so the diagnosis carries forward
  • Start time set by when your child is home, not by traffic
  • Free trial lesson before anything is agreed

An in-home tutor hired locally

What the search phrase describes. A tutor travels to your address in Fujairah City, usually for ninety minutes to make the journey worthwhile, at a rate that reflects the travel. IB Gram does not operate this model in the UAE, so the figures quoted below for it come from published market sources rather than from us.

  • Market rates sit above online for the same qualification level
  • Pool limited to people who can reach the city that evening
  • Anyone tutoring privately needs a MoHRE private tuition work permit

Intensive blocks before a series

A compressed run in the weeks before the June or November papers, two or three sessions a week on one subject. Best aimed at a diagnosed problem rather than general revision: a student who cannot handle circuit questions in 0625, or who writes well above an unlabelled economics diagram. Delivered online like the weekly format.

  • Two to three sessions a week on one named paper
  • Whole past papers under timed conditions, marked to the scheme
  • Stops when the specific weakness closes

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Fujairah City

01

Fujairah City against the villages, the enclaves and the Dubai drive

This is the comparison the search implies, so here it is in full. Four options, priced in time as well as money, with the variable that decides the outcome in the last column.

The pattern in the table is worth stating in words. Travel time rises steeply as you move out of Fujairah City, and the local teaching pool falls at the same time, because the schools and therefore the teachers are concentrated in the city. The Sharjah enclaves change the regulator and the school calendar without adding specialists, since Khor Fakkan and Dibba Al-Hisn draw on the same regional labour market. The Dubai weekend option adds a genuinely larger pool and a journey most families abandon within a term.

What does not appear in any row is the thing a Year 11 student actually needs: somebody who has marked their specific paper. There is no district on this coast where you reliably find a Pearson 4CH1 specialist, or anybody at all who teaches Additional Mathematics 0606. Moving along the coast rearranges the driving. It does not change the supply.

Use the table to see how much of what you are about to pay for is teaching and how much is transport. Then decide whether the transport is buying anything. For a Year 7 student who needs supervision, it may be. For a Year 11 student who needs paper-level diagnosis, it is money leaving the thing you are trying to buy.

What the UAE market charges, read from the bottom up

Three of the six pages ranking for these searches publish no price at all, and the two that do quote US dollars. Here are the AED bands with the source for each, so you can place any quote you receive on this coast.

Start at the cheap end, because that is where most families start. Budget online tutoring runs AED 45 to 150 an hour; EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52 on their own sites. That buys content re-teaching from a capable graduate. It is the right purchase if your child missed a fortnight of school and the wrong one if the problem is converting knowledge into marks under a mark scheme.

Above that, a qualified subject tutor online sits at roughly AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. In-home visits run AED 180 to 500: Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table puts in-home at AED 180 to 350, with independent home tutors reaching AED 500. Exam-year specialists run AED 200 to 450 and above, TutorChase listing AED 270, and the premium end is quoted at AED 650 by BartyED.

Monthly, Bestimate estimates a weekly one-hour session at AED 240 to 600 for budget tutoring, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-market, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year work. Advertised packages in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. None of those figures is an IB Gram price. Ours is confirmed in the conversation after the free trial lesson, with the session length and format stated first.

03

The travel premium, and what it is actually buying

The gap between the online band and the in-home band is not margin. It is the tutor's journey, and on this coast the journey is long enough to change the arithmetic of the whole evening.

A tutor driving from Fujairah City out to Al Gurfa or up to Dibba spends forty to ninety minutes in the car for one ninety-minute session. At AED 300 for the visit, they are being paid for roughly three hours of their evening. Nobody is overcharging. The travel is real and somebody has to pay for it, and in a small market that somebody is always the parent.

The question is therefore not whether in-home is more expensive but what the extra money buys. It buys a person in the room, which is genuinely valuable for a younger student who needs supervision as much as teaching, and for a student who will not engage with a screen. It does not buy subject expertise. If the choice on this coast is between an in-home generalist and an online specialist in your child's actual paper, the money spent on the car is money not spent on the thing that moves the grade.

IB Gram's position is stated rather than hedged: we run no home visits anywhere in the UAE, and Fujairah City students are taught one-to-one over live video. The comparison is published because the trade-off is real and a parent should see it, not because the conclusion is automatic.

The exam calendar counted backwards from a June series

Nobody ranking for these searches names an exam session, a registration deadline or a results date. That is the single most useful thing a tutoring page can give a Year 11 parent, so here it is, with the caveat that live dates must come from the board.

Cambridge International runs IGCSE and O Level exams in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. The February and March sitting is offered to India only: a Fujairah candidate sits June, with November as the resit route. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct timetable version for the zone, warning that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Your school's exams officer knows the zone.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE is available in May/June and in November. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. Results timing drives the resit decision: June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, while November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series and revises them, so build a plan against the live official timetable rather than against dates restated on a tutoring page.

Counted backwards, the year has a consistent shape and the table sets it out as milestones rather than dates. Entries are confirmed by the school months ahead. Mocks fall in the winter term. Content coverage finishes in spring. The last six to eight weeks are whole papers under timed conditions. Confirm each specific date with your school.

Two regulators on one coastline, and what that means for you

Fujairah families get a regulatory question nobody else in the UAE gets, because the coastline is not all one emirate. Understanding it saves confusion when comparing schools.

The UAE has five bodies regulating private schools. Dubai has the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain have the Department of Education and Knowledge, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools there. Sharjah has the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which regulates private education in that emirate. Ras Al Khaimah has its own Department of Knowledge. Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah sit under the federal Ministry of Education, which plays a pivotal role in supervising private schools in those three emirates.

So a school in Fujairah City is supervised federally, and a school half an hour up the same road in Khor Fakkan or Dibba Al-Hisn is regulated by Sharjah. The Sharjah authority's remit is broad: it approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. A family comparing two schools across that line is comparing two different approval regimes, two different reporting formats and two different internal calendars. If your household has children in both, you are running two school calendars in parallel, and that is worth putting on one sheet in September.

A caution belongs here because the opposite is commonly implied. IB Gram is not approved, accredited, licensed or endorsed by the Ministry of Education, SPEA, KHDA, ADEK, Cambridge International, Pearson or the IB. Naming a regulator and explaining its remit is information. Suggesting a regulator has blessed a tutoring company is not, and any provider making that claim should be asked for the permit number.

06

Is the tutor legally permitted to teach in the UAE?

  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and runs for two years
  • Applied for through MoHRE e-services; two working days quoted
  • Tutoring without a permit carries fines and penalties under the applicable laws
  • No official fine schedule exists; ignore the figures circulating online

This is a reasonable question and the UAE answer is specific. Private tutoring is permitted, and it is regulated by permit.

The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 Regarding the Introduction of Private Tuition Work Permits. The permit is granted free of charge for two years, so anyone who tells you it is expensive to obtain is mistaken. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. Applications go through MoHRE's own service, Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, via the smart app, website and e-services system, which lists no fees and a two-working-day completion time.

Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so the amounts circulating on tutoring blogs should be disregarded. There is also a professional boundary worth asking about: ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar Abu Dhabi private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. That is press-reported rather than quoted from policy, so treat it as a question to ask rather than settled wording.

Organisations are treated differently from individuals. A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. That is a specific permit for institutes with premises, and nobody should describe themselves as KHDA approved without holding it.

07

MoE equivalency: the five-subject rule, and the figure a competitor gets wrong

Families on the east coast planning a UAE university route need the Ministry of Education's equivalency requirements, and this is an area where a ranking page in this market publishes the wrong figure.

On the British track, students must submit proof of one accredited subject at the Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at the Advanced Subsidiary Level with the same grade, and must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. One competitor page states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects; the sourced requirement is five, and the exclusion of Arabic and Islamic Education from the count is the detail that changes an option-choice conversation in Year 9.

On the American track the same clarification sets English proficiency as a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT test, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and mathematics as at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying. No IB points threshold appears in that source, so no IB equivalency figure should be stated without a Ministry of Education page behind it. Diploma families should ask the Ministry or the emirate attestation authority directly.

Two honest caveats close this. Equivalency and attestation are run by the authority and not by any tutoring company; IB Gram can describe the requirement and point you to the official channel, and that is all. And tutoring is not required for equivalency, for university admission or for school progression. Anyone telling a Fujairah City parent otherwise has turned a regulatory process into a sales argument.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Fujairah City

This is the district comparison, with each place described by what it changes for a tutoring plan rather than by what it looks like. The variable that matters is the school run and what it does to an evening.

Fujairah City

Where the emirate's private schools are. A ten to fifteen minute run home for most central households, so a session can start by 4.15pm. The largest local teaching pool on this coast, which is still small once you specify a board and a paper.

Sakamkam

Residential district immediately inland of the city, feeding the same campuses. Adds a few minutes to the run home and nothing to the available tutor list. The schools are shared, so the shortlist is shared.

Al Faseel

Coastal district on the city's southern side, close to the corniche. Short school run, same campuses, same teachers. Families here often assume the city proper has more options; it has the same ones.

Merashid

District on the city's northern edge where the coast road begins. Journeys lengthen slightly and evening sessions tend to settle after 5pm once sport and Arabic commitments are accounted for.

Al Gurfa

Southern coastal settlement with a longer run into the city. A tutor travelling here is making a round trip most would price accordingly, which is why the in-home premium bites hardest in the outlying districts.

Dibba and the northern coast

Forty-five minutes to an hour north of the city. Children travel to Fujairah City or to the Sharjah enclave schools, so homework starts late and a session before 6pm is routinely missed.

Khor Fakkan and Dibba Al-Hisn

Sharjah territory on the Fujairah coast, so the schools there sit under the Sharjah Private Education Authority rather than the federal Ministry of Education. Different reports, different internal calendars, same regional labour market for tutors.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Fujairah City

Fujairah City private schools

British, Indian and bilingual programmes with small year groups. The consequence for a tutoring plan is specific: option blocks are narrow, and a subject may be taught by a teacher covering two or three others. Schools here are supervised under the federal Ministry of Education, which plays a pivotal role in supervising private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah.

  • Our Own English High School, Fujairah
  • Fujairah Private Academy
  • Al Ameer English School, Fujairah
  • Indian School Fujairah
  • Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Bangladesh Islamia School, Fujairah

The Sharjah enclaves and the inland routes

Khor Fakkan and Dibba Al-Hisn are Sharjah territory, so their private schools fall under the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which regulates private education in that emirate and approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Families comparing a Fujairah school with one of these are comparing two regulators as well as two schools.

  • Private schools in Khor Fakkan under the Sharjah Private Education Authority
  • Private schools in Dibba Al-Hisn under the Sharjah Private Education Authority
  • Sharjah city schools reached by the mountain road
  • Ras Al Khaimah schools reached by the inland route
  • Weekly boarding placements used by east-coast post-16 students

Schools are named only to describe the east-coast education context; IB Gram claims no affiliation with or endorsement from any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the syllabus code, not just the subject

Cambridge 0580 or Pearson 4MA1, 0620 or 4CH1. The statement of entry carries it, and your school's exams officer can confirm it before that arrives. This one detail decides whether a formula sheet applies and prevents a term spent coaching the wrong paper on the wrong board.

  2. 02

Use the free trial as a diagnosis

The first lesson costs nothing and is not a sales call. Your child brings marked work, ideally a mock, and the tutor works through the questions that lost marks to establish whether the gap is content, method, command term or timing. You get that in writing, naming the questions.

  3. 03

Set the slot against the real east-coast evening

Sessions run on Gulf Standard Time around the actual school run, Arabic assessments, sport and prayer times. Central Fujairah City households usually manage 4.15pm; families in Al Gurfa or Dibba settle later. Nothing is scheduled before your child is home and fed.

  4. 04

Work in blocks with a named target

Each block closes one specific gap: circuit questions in 0625, or data application in 0455. Progress is judged on marked past-paper questions rather than on how the hour felt. When the gap closes you can stop, change subject, or move into the timed-paper phase.

  5. 05

Rematch or hear the truth about availability

If the subject fit is right and the relationship is not, ask for a different tutor and the written diagnosis travels with you. If no specialist is free for a scarce paper such as Additional Mathematics 0606, you will be told rather than offered a near-enough substitute learning the paper alongside your child.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The comparison is published, not hidden

This page lays out the city, the villages, the Sharjah enclaves and the Dubai drive side by side with travel times attached. You can disagree with the conclusion and still use the table, which is more than the pages currently ranking for this search offer.

Matched to the code, not the subject

Cambridge 0620 and Pearson 4CH1 differ on structure, tiering and what has to be memorised. Tutors are assigned by board and paper, which is the difference between an hour that moves marks and an hour that feels productive.

Every AED figure carries its source

The rates above are the market's, attributed to the provider or rate table that published them. Three of six ranking pages in this market publish no price at all. Check ours against theirs and ask anyone else for the same.

Distance is removed as a filter

On this coast the local pool is tiny once you specify a paper and a time. Teaching over live video lifts the only filter a family can lift, so the shortlist becomes people who teach that paper rather than people who can reach Fujairah City by evening.

The coursework line is explicit

Tutors teach, review and give feedback on the student's own work. Nobody writes coursework for a student, and no mark schemes or past papers are redistributed, because they belong to the boards. That protects the qualification your child is working for.

No regulator is claimed as a sponsor

The Ministry of Education, SPEA, KHDA, ADEK, Cambridge, Pearson and the IB are described here because east-coast families need to understand them. None of them approves or endorses IB Gram, and we do not imply otherwise.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Fujairah City: your questions answered

Can an IGCSE home tutor come to our house in Fujairah City?+

Tutors who travel to homes do work in Fujairah City, and market rates for that service run roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour, with Bestimate's 2026 rate table putting in-home at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors reaching AED 500. IB Gram is not one of them. We teach Fujairah City students one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and home visits are a service we offer only in India. Better to know that before booking than after.

Is it worth driving to Sharjah or Dubai for a better IGCSE tutor?+

Rarely, and families who try it usually stop within a term. The mountain road adds ninety minutes to two and a half hours each way to a one-hour session, in the dark, after a full school day. The larger emirates genuinely do have a bigger tutor pool, which is the honest part of the argument. The dishonest part is pretending the journey is sustainable through a Year 11 winter. Live video gives you the same pool without the road.

Do Sakamkam, Al Faseel or Merashid have more tutors than Fujairah City?+

No. Those districts send children to the same Fujairah City campuses, and the teachers in those staff rooms are the local tutoring pool. Moving the search between them changes the length of the tutor's drive and nothing else. Al Gurfa and Dibba are further out again, which raises the travel premium without raising supply. The only variable that changes materially across these districts is what time a session can realistically start.

Which regulator oversees schools in Fujairah City?+

The federal Ministry of Education, which plays a pivotal role in supervising private schools in the emirates of Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. That differs from Dubai, which sits under KHDA, Abu Dhabi under ADEK, Sharjah under SPEA and Ras Al Khaimah under its own Department of Knowledge. It matters on this coast because Khor Fakkan and Dibba Al-Hisn are Sharjah territory, so a school half an hour up the road is approved and inspected under a different authority with its own calendar.

What do IGCSE tutors charge on the east coast?+

The figures published in this market are UAE-wide rather than Fujairah-specific. Budget online runs AED 45 to 150 an hour, with EdFlik from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. A qualified subject tutor online sits at AED 150 to 300, Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150. In-home runs AED 180 to 500, per Bestimate's 2026 rate table. Exam-year specialists reach AED 200 to 450 and above, TutorChase listing AED 270. IB Gram's rate is confirmed after the free trial.

When will my child in Fujairah City actually sit the IGCSE papers?+

Cambridge International runs IGCSE and O Level exams in a June series and a November series, and UAE candidates sit those two. The February and March sitting is offered to India only, which several tutoring sites get wrong for Gulf families. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and in November; its November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. Work from the board's live official timetable and your school's exams officer, since provisional timetables get revised.

Does a tutor working in Fujairah need a licence?+

Yes. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Applications go through MoHRE's own e-services, which list no fees and a two-working-day completion time. Anyone tutoring without a permit is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no fine schedule has been published.

Which IGCSE subject is hardest to get help with in Fujairah?+

Additional Mathematics 0606. The cohort anywhere is small, the content reaches calculus and logarithms that 0580 never touches, and on this coast the number of people who have taught the paper is effectively zero. Computer Science 0478 is close behind, because the board's own pseudocode conventions and trace tables need someone who has marked it. Pearson science codes are thinner than Cambridge ones locally, simply because fewer east-coast schools use that board.

My child is on Core and wants a higher grade. Can the tier be changed?+

Possibly, and it is worth asking the school early. A Cambridge Core entry caps the grade available, and tiering decisions are sometimes made in Year 10 on the basis of a weak term or a timetabling constraint rather than on current ability. If your child has since improved, ask whether an Extended entry is still possible and what the school needs to see. Extended questions are harder on the same topics, so the switch needs a plan behind it rather than optimism.

How many IGCSE subjects does a Fujairah student need for equivalency?+

Five. The sourced British-track rule is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus one Advanced Level subject at no less than E, or two Advanced Subsidiary Level subjects at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. A ranking competitor page states six, which is wrong. Equivalency is administered by the Ministry of Education, so confirm the current requirement through the official channel rather than any tutoring site.

Can online lessons work for IGCSE Chemistry practical skills?+

For the written assessment of practical skills, yes, and that is where the marks are. The paper asks candidates to identify variables, describe a method with a named control, read apparatus correctly, spot anomalous results and comment on reliability. All of it is taught with the student's own paper on screen. Laboratory handling itself stays with the school. The tutor's job is converting the practical time your child has already had into marks on the written paper, which is a different skill.

What time can a tutoring session start for a family in Fujairah City?+

Central households usually manage 4.15pm once the ten to fifteen minute run home is done. Sakamkam and Al Faseel are similar. Al Gurfa adds time, and families travelling from Dibba or the northern coast rarely start before 6pm. Because lessons run over live video, the only limit is when your child is home and ready rather than when a tutor could reach your street. Flag Arabic assessment weeks and sport fixtures when the slot is agreed.

Can one tutor take two IGCSE subjects for my child?+

Sometimes, and it should be checked rather than assumed. Maths and Physics pair naturally, as do Business Studies and Economics. Chemistry and Biology look adjacent but are often taught by different specialists, because their mark schemes reward different skills. The real test is whether the tutor has taught both papers to a scheme, not whether they feel confident in both subjects. Where the answer is no, two tutors in alternating weeks beats one tutor stretched across both.

What does a tutor do about coursework without crossing the line?+

A tutor teaches the method, models a worked example on a different question, marks your child's own attempt against the published criteria and explains where the marks went. A tutor does not write, draft or complete assessed work. At least one provider ranking for these searches sells finished Internal Assessments, which puts a student's qualification at risk rather than saving them time. Tutors should also reference rather than redistribute syllabus documents, past papers and mark schemes, which belong to the boards.

What if no tutor is available for the subject we need?+

You will be told. For a scarce paper there may be nobody free in the week you ask, and the honest options are to wait for the right match, to start on a related paper where the diagnosis still helps, or to look elsewhere. Being quietly handed a near-enough tutor on a scarce code is how a family loses a term they cannot get back, so availability is disclosed up front rather than smoothed over in a booking confirmation.

Finish the comparison, then book the free trial

If you have been weighing Fujairah City against Sakamkam, against Khor Fakkan, against the drive to Dubai, the table above is that comparison finished. Travel times differ enormously. The number of people who have marked your child's paper does not change at all. Send the syllabus code from the statement of entry, take the free trial lesson, read the written diagnosis, and decide from there. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and if no specialist is free for the paper you need we will say so plainly.
