IB Home Tutor in Fujairah City

Parents searching for an IB home tutor in Fujairah City are usually searching for one specific thing: somebody who knows the syllabus their child is sitting, paper by paper. IB Gram teaches that one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, from a free trial lesson. We do not send tutors to addresses in Fujairah City or anywhere else in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. What you get instead is a Chemistry HL or Maths AA specialist rather than whoever happens to live within driving distance of the corniche.

  • Lessons delivered live, one-to-one, over video on Gulf Standard Time
  • Subject specialists by syllabus, not general all-rounders
  • Cambridge UAE candidates sit June and November, never February or March

IB & IGCSE in Fujairah City

Start from the syllabus, not the postcode

Fujairah City sits on the Gulf of Oman, on the far side of the Hajar mountains from Dubai. That geography decides almost everything about tutoring here. The emirate's private-school set is small, federal Ministry of Education territory rather than KHDA or ADEK, and the number of adults within half an hour of Al Faseel who have taught IB Chemistry HL to examination standard is very low. A parent who searches for an IB home tutor in Fujairah City and then restricts the search to people who can drive to the house has narrowed a thin pool to almost nothing.

So this page does not lead with the drive. It leads with the syllabus. An IB Diploma subject is a published document with named topics, named assessment objectives, fixed paper durations and fixed weightings. Marks are lost in predictable places: a Mathematics AA student who cannot set out a proof by contradiction, a Chemistry student who writes an equilibrium answer without stating the direction of shift, an Economics student who draws a diagram and then forgets to label the welfare loss. Those are diagnosable faults. Fixing them needs a teacher who has read that mark scheme, not a teacher who lives nearby.

IB Gram matches students in Fujairah City to that teacher and runs the lesson over live video. The tutor shares a screen, works through the student's own script, annotates the student's own past-paper attempt, and leaves a written note of what to do before the next session. Nobody travels. The hour you would have spent waiting for a tutor to come down from Masafi or over from Khorfakkan is an hour of teaching instead.

The honest comparison matters, so the page sets it out properly. In-home one-to-one tuition in the UAE is quoted on published market pages at roughly AED 180 to AED 500 an hour, with travel already folded into the figure; Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table puts the in-home band at AED 180 to AED 350 and independent home tutors at AED 200 to AED 500. Online qualified subject tuition sits lower, at roughly AED 150 to AED 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Those are market rates from other providers, cited so you can check them, not an IB Gram price list.

What follows is subject-level detail: the papers your child actually sits, the weightings behind them, the mark-scheme traps that recur year after year, the Internal Assessment criteria by letter, and the past-paper method that turns revision into something measurable. There is also a plain account of what a tutor may and may not do with assessed coursework, because that line is where several providers in this market quietly cross into malpractice.

At a glance

  • Federal Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Fujairah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain
  • Diploma Programme candidates in the emirate are few, so subject specialists are rarely local
  • Market in-home rates carry the travel cost inside the hourly figure
  • Every session runs over live video with screen sharing on the student's own work
  • A free trial lesson comes before any commitment
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The IB is three separate programmes with three separate assessment logics. A Fujairah City family moving a child from one to the next is usually surprised by how little carries over. Here is what each one asks for and what it means locally.

PYPAges 3-12 · Foundation to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

The PYP has no external examination. Progress is judged through transdisciplinary units, documented inquiry and an exhibition in the final year. Tutoring at this stage is almost never about content coverage; it is about reading fluency, number sense, written structure and the habit of explaining reasoning out loud. A tutor who tries to teach PYP like a syllabus has misread the programme.

Fujairah City primary pupils sitting the PYP also carry the federally mandated Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies strands, which run alongside the licensed curriculum rather than inside it. Those classes are organised separately for Arab and non-Arab pupils, and the content is fixed by the Ministry, so any tutoring support must follow the school's own scheme of work.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

MYP grades run 1-8 against four criteria per subject, each criterion carrying its own descriptor band. A student can be strong on knowledge and weak on criterion D communication and still lose a whole grade. The Personal Project in the final year is assessed on process rather than product. MYP maths splits into standard and extended pathways, and that choice shapes which Diploma maths course is realistic.

Because Fujairah has few MYP-to-DP continuum schools, students here more often switch systems between Year 11 and Year 12 than continue. That transition is the single most common reason a Fujairah City family looks for an IB home tutor in Fujairah City: the child has arrived in DP1 from a different board and the assessment vocabulary is unfamiliar.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject carries an Internal Assessment worth a fixed share of the final grade, and the written papers carry the rest. Points run to 45. The structural difficulty is not any single subject; it is six Internal Assessments and an Extended Essay landing in the same ten weeks.

UAE schools sit the May examination session. A Fujairah City student who needs a subject their school does not offer, or who wants to resit, has to work through their school's IB coordinator, and the coordinator is the only person who can confirm session dates. We do not publish IB examination dates on this page because the IB's own site blocks automated checking and an unverified date is worse than no date.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Below are the Diploma Programme subjects Fujairah City students most often ask for, with what each one assesses and where marks go missing. The descriptions are deliberately specific: a tutoring hour is only worth buying if it targets a named weakness.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Paper 1 is non-calculator, Paper 2 is calculator, and HL adds Paper 3, a long two-part problem worth a fifth of the HL grade. Marks go missing in proof, in complex numbers at HL, and in the habit of writing a numerical answer with no supporting line of working. Paper 3 rewards students who can read an unfamiliar structure and keep going.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics, modelling and technology sit at the centre. The usual fault is treating the graphic display calculator as the answer rather than the tool: a regression line quoted without interpreting the coefficient earns little. HL adds matrices, graph theory and vectors. Choosing AI over AA is a route decision with university consequences, not an easier option.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Paper 1 is multiple choice, Paper 2 is structured, and the Internal Assessment carries a fifth of the grade. Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms are where students stall. The recurring mark-scheme trap is the explanation question: stating that a rate increases without naming collision frequency and activation energy scores nothing at all.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics and electricity dominate the early course; fields, induction and nuclear physics arrive later and are where HL grades are decided. Students lose marks on unit conversion, on significant figures in data questions, and on describing a graph instead of deriving a relationship from its gradient. Practical skills are assessed through the Internal Assessment.

Biology

HL and SL

The content volume is the hazard. Cell respiration, photosynthesis, genetics and physiology each carry dense terminology, and command terms separate outline from explain from discuss. A student who writes everything they know about a topic rather than answering the verb in the question will cap out well below their understanding.

Economics

HL and SL

Microeconomics, macroeconomics and the global economy, assessed through written papers and a portfolio of commentaries built on real published articles. The commentary is where the marks are most winnable and most often wasted: students summarise the article instead of applying a diagram and evaluating. HL adds policy calculation and a quantitative paper.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Two written papers, an Individual Oral on a global issue, and at HL a formal essay. The Individual Oral is the component students practise least and panic about most: ten minutes of structured analysis across one literary and one non-literary extract, followed by questions. Preparation is rehearsal, not reading.

English B

HL and SL

Receptive, productive and interactive skills across five prescribed themes. Paper 1 asks for a written text in a specified type, so a student who writes a strong essay when the task demanded a blog post loses conceptual-understanding marks immediately. The oral relies on describing a stimulus image accurately before interpreting it.

Business Management

HL and SL

Human resources, finance, marketing and operations, with a case study released in advance for Paper 1. The written answers reward tool-based analysis: a student who names a model and then applies it to the stimulus material outscores one who writes general commercial common sense. HL adds extended response on a longer case.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

An exhibition of three objects with written commentaries and a prescribed-title essay. Both are assessed on the quality of the knowledge question being explored, not on the student's opinion. Tutoring here is argument coaching: finding the real question inside the title and keeping examples doing analytical work rather than decoration.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways a Fujairah City student works with us, all delivered over live video. The right one depends on how far from the examination the student is and whether the problem is content, technique or coursework.

Weekly subject teaching

One or two fixed hours a week on a single subject, running alongside the school's scheme of work. The tutor stays a step ahead of the class so the lesson pre-teaches rather than repairs. This is the mode that suits a DP1 student who is coping but not secure, and it is the cheapest per unit of progress because nothing has to be rebuilt.

  • Same slot each week, set in Gulf Standard Time
  • Tutor works from the student's own school scheme of work
  • Written note after each session naming the next task
  • Marked work returned before the following lesson

Past-paper and technique blocks

Short intensive runs of four to eight sessions built entirely around timed questions. The student attempts a paper under conditions, the tutor marks it against the published criteria, and the lesson is spent on the specific losses rather than on general revision. Most students gain more here than in twice as many content lessons.

  • Timed attempts marked to the real criteria
  • Error log kept across sessions so patterns show
  • Command-term drills for outline, explain, discuss and evaluate
  • Papers sourced by the family from the school or official site

Internal Assessment and Extended Essay supervision

Process coaching on coursework, scheduled around the school's internal deadlines. The tutor helps the student narrow a research question, plan a method, interrogate their own data and read their draft against the criteria. The student does every piece of the writing. We will not draft, complete or supply assessed work, and we say so before the first session.

  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own draft
  • Research question narrowed until it is answerable
  • Referencing and citation practice to the school's required style
  • No writing, no editing to completion, no supplied text

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Fujairah City

01

What an IB home tutor in Fujairah City actually has to teach

An IB home tutor in Fujairah City has to teach a named syllabus to a named level, and that is a narrower job than it sounds. Diploma Programme Chemistry HL is not school chemistry with extra hours; it is a defined set of topics assessed through two written papers and an Internal Assessment with its own criteria. A tutor who has not taught that specification cannot diagnose why a student who understands equilibrium still scores four out of eight on an equilibrium question.

This is where the local-search instinct works against the family. The pool of adults in Fujairah City who have taught Diploma Chemistry to examination standard is small, and the pool who are free at 17:00 on a Tuesday is smaller again. The same is true of Mathematics AA HL, of Economics HL and of English B. Restricting the search to people who can drive to Al Faseel is a filter applied to competence, and it usually removes the candidates who would have been most useful.

IB Gram answers the search by matching the syllabus first and delivering the lesson over live video. The tutor and the student share a screen, work on the same script, and annotate the same past-paper attempt. We do not send tutors to UAE addresses: home visits are an India-only service, and no page on this site promises otherwise. The table below sets the two formats against each other on the terms that actually differ.

Read the rate columns as market information rather than as our prices. They come from published provider pages and from Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table, and they are quoted here because the travel premium inside the in-home figure is the whole of the argument.

Mathematics AA and AI: the papers, the weightings, the traps

Diploma mathematics is two separate courses that share a name. Analysis and Approaches is the algebraic route: proof, calculus, functions and, at Higher Level, complex numbers. Applications and Interpretation is the statistical and modelling route, with matrices and graph theory arriving at HL. Both sit Paper 1 and Paper 2; both HL courses add Paper 3, a long two-part investigation. The Internal Assessment, a mathematical exploration, carries a fifth of the final grade in every version of the course.

The weighting pattern is where tutoring hours earn their keep. A Standard Level student is sitting two papers of equal weight, so a non-calculator weakness is worth the same as a calculator weakness and should get equal attention. A Higher Level student has a third paper that behaves differently from the first two: it is unfamiliar by design, it rewards persistence, and students who have only ever practised short questions tend to abandon it halfway. Paper 3 practice is a distinct skill and needs its own sessions.

The recurring mark-scheme losses are specific enough to list. Writing an answer with no working attracts the method penalty even when the number is right. Quoting a calculator regression without interpreting the coefficient earns the mark for the mechanics and nothing for the mathematics. Proof by contradiction is attempted without stating the assumption being contradicted. Trigonometric identities are used in the correct direction but with the domain quietly ignored. Each of those is correctable inside two or three sessions once somebody has seen the student's actual script.

Route choice matters more than most families realise, and it is a decision taken in Year 11 with consequences in Year 13. Engineering, physics and most mathematics degrees expect Analysis and Approaches, frequently at Higher Level. Business, psychology, design and many social-science routes accept Applications and Interpretation. Check the published entry requirements of the specific universities on the shortlist before the school's option form goes in, because switching course mid-Diploma is difficult and switching level is not always possible.

Sciences: where Chemistry, Physics and Biology marks really go

  • Chemistry: state the direction and the variable in every equilibrium explanation
  • Physics: convert units before substituting, not after
  • Biology: answer the command term, then stop writing
  • All three: the Internal Assessment rewards method, not spectacular results

The three Diploma sciences fail students in three different ways, and a tutor who treats them as one subject wastes the first month. Chemistry punishes imprecision in explanation. A student can describe a shift in equilibrium position correctly and still score nothing because the answer never named the direction of the shift or the variable being changed. Energetics questions want the sign convention stated. Organic mechanism questions want the curly arrow starting at the right place, not a general account of what happens.

Physics punishes carelessness with data. Unit conversion errors, significant figures carried wrongly through a calculation and gradient questions answered by describing the shape of the graph instead of extracting a relationship account for a large share of lost marks at both levels. Fields and electromagnetic induction are where Higher Level grades separate, partly because they arrive late in the course and partly because the mathematics behind them is heavier than anything earlier. A student who is comfortable with mechanics can still be in trouble by the second year.

Biology punishes imprecise reading. The content volume is genuinely large, and students compensate by writing everything they know. The command term is the instruction: outline wants a brief account, explain wants causes, discuss wants a balanced argument, and evaluate wants a judgement supported by evidence. Marks for a correct fact written under the wrong command term are simply not available. Terminology discipline is the other half: osmosis, diffusion and active transport are distinguished in the mark scheme even when a student's answer treats them loosely.

All three carry an Internal Assessment built on the student's own investigation, and that is the one component a tutor can support without going near the examination. The support is methodological: is the research question answerable, is the independent variable genuinely controlled, is the uncertainty treatment honest, does the conclusion follow from the data collected rather than from the textbook. A Fujairah City student working online can do all of that with a specialist while running the practical work in their own school laboratory.

04

The Internal Assessment, criterion by criterion

Every Diploma subject carries an Internal Assessment, marked by the school against published criteria and then moderated. Students lose marks there for process reasons rather than knowledge reasons, which is why criterion-level feedback is worth more than general encouragement. The criteria are lettered, each carries its own maximum, and a student who scores well on three and ignores the fourth has capped their grade before the examination starts.

The pattern is consistent across subjects. There is a criterion for the framing of the question or focus, one or two for the handling of evidence or mathematics, one for analysis and evaluation, and one for communication. Communication is the criterion students treat as presentation and examiners treat as structure: a report that never signposts its own argument loses marks that have nothing to do with the quality of the work underneath.

A tutor's role here is bounded, and the boundary is not negotiable. The tutor may discuss a topic until the research question is narrow enough to answer, may ask why a method controls a variable, may read a draft and say which criterion is underserved, and may show the student how a referencing style works. The tutor may not write, rewrite, complete, draft or supply any part of the text. No IB Gram tutor will write the IA for a student, and anyone offering to is exposing that student to a malpractice finding that no grade is worth.

The table sets out the usual criterion shape so a parent can read their child's feedback sheet with some idea of what the letters mean. Exact criteria and maxima are published in each subject guide, which is held by the school's IB coordinator; we reference those documents rather than reproducing them.

HOW IA CRITERIA ARE USUALLY LETTERED AND WHAT EACH ONE WANTS
CriterionWhat it is called in most guidesWhat the examiner is looking forThe usual reason marks are lost
AFocus, research question or presentationA question narrow enough to be answered in the word limitA topic rather than a question
BExploration, context or backgroundRelevant background that earns its place in the argumentA textbook summary with no link to the question
CAnalysis, data or mathematical processingCorrect handling of the student's own evidenceRaw data presented without processing or uncertainty
DEvaluation, conclusion or reflectionA judgement that follows from the evidence collectedA conclusion the data does not support
ECommunication and structureA report a reader can follow without re-readingNo signposting; references incomplete
05

Past papers: the only revision method that reads like the examination

  • Attempt under timing, not open-book
  • Mark against the published criteria, not against the answer key alone
  • Keep one error log for the whole course, not one per paper
  • Fix the pattern in the log before adding new content

Most students revise by reading. Reading produces recognition, and recognition feels like knowledge until a timed paper asks for recall under pressure. The method that works is attempt, mark, log, repeat. The student attempts a paper or a section under real timing. The tutor marks it against the published criteria. The losses go into an error log that persists across sessions. The next lesson targets the pattern in that log rather than the next topic in the book.

The log is the part families skip and the part that does the work. After four papers it stops being a list of mistakes and becomes a diagnosis: this student loses marks on explanation verbs, not on content; this one loses them in the last twenty minutes of every paper, which is a pacing problem; this one loses them in the first question of Paper 2 because they start before reading the stimulus. Each of those has a different fix, and none of them is more content teaching.

Sourcing matters and has a legal edge. Papers, mark schemes and subject guides are copyright material belonging to the IB, and we do not host, reproduce or supply them. The student's school holds what the student is entitled to use, and the IB's own store sells past papers to families directly. Your tutor will work from whatever the student legitimately has and will tell you plainly if a resource cannot be used.

For a Fujairah City student, the practical advantage of doing this online is that the marking is visible. The tutor annotates the scanned or photographed script on screen, the student watches the mark being awarded or withheld, and the annotated version is saved. That record is more useful at parents' evening than any verbal account of how the sessions are going.

06

Academic honesty: the line a tutor does not cross

IB academic-honesty rules make the student the author of their own assessed work. That applies to the Internal Assessment in every subject, to the Extended Essay, to the Theory of Knowledge essay and exhibition, and to any coursework submitted for a grade. A breach is investigated as malpractice and the consequence falls on the student, not on whoever supplied the text. This matters in the UAE market because at least one provider in this search space openly sells completed Internal Assessments.

The permitted support is wide and genuinely useful. A tutor may teach the content, model how an argument is built, question a method until its weaknesses show, read a draft and name the criterion that is underserved, demonstrate a referencing style, and run the student through the school's own deadline sequence. All of that leaves the student as the author. What it does not include is drafting a paragraph, rewriting a section, supplying a research question fully formed, or editing a text to a finished state.

We state the boundary before the first coursework session, and we put it in writing. If a family asks for the other thing, the answer is no, and the reason is not squeamishness: an IB malpractice finding can cost a student the Diploma, and no amount of marks is worth that exposure. The tutor's declaration of support is also something the school may ask for, and a tutor who has stayed inside the line has nothing awkward to declare.

There is a second honesty question that gets less attention: who is allowed to tutor at all. A school teacher in Abu Dhabi is barred by ADEK's professional-ethics rules from taking paid private work with students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE private tuition permit carries a code of conduct pointing the same way. Fujairah sits under federal Ministry of Education supervision rather than ADEK, but the permit rule is federal and applies here too.

07

The permit question, and how a Fujairah parent can check it

  • Permit route: Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, issued by MoHRE
  • Validity two years, granted free of charge per u.ae
  • No published fine schedule, so no amount is quoted here
  • A training institute with premises needs a separate emirate-level permit

Private tutoring in the UAE is not an unregulated activity. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The u.ae federal portal records that the permit is granted free of charge for two years, and that eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18.

The portal is equally direct about the other side: individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so this page does not quote an amount; a figure circulating online could not be verified against any ministry source and is left out deliberately. What a parent needs to know is that the permit exists, that it costs nothing, and that asking about it is reasonable rather than rude.

A tutoring operation with premises and staff is a different legal animal from an individual tutor. In Dubai that requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first and annual renewal. IB Gram does not hold that permit and does not describe itself as approved by KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, because it is not. We match tutors and deliver lessons online; the regulatory position is what it is and the page says so.

The practical check for a Fujairah City family is short. Ask what the tutor's status is, ask whether they hold the MoHRE permit if they are UAE-based, and apply the MoHRE service page as the reference point: the service is called Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, it lists no fee, and it quotes a two-working-day completion time through the MoHRE app, website and e-services system.

08

Ministry of Education equivalency for a Fujairah City IB student

Equivalency is the process that turns a foreign school certificate into something a UAE university or employer can accept. It is run by the Ministry of Education, not by the school and certainly not by a tutoring platform, and it is worth understanding early because the requirements are about subject counts and minimum grades rather than about overall strength.

For the British track the published rules are specific. A student must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must submit proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level with the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. One competitor page ranking for these queries states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects; the sourced figure is five.

For the American track the requirement is a test score rather than a subject count: English proficiency through a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and mathematics through at least 450 in the SAT Math test. For the IB there is no points threshold published on this page, because none has been read on a Ministry source, and publishing an unsourced number would be worse than leaving the row marked for verification.

Nothing about this process requires tutoring, and no page on this site will suggest otherwise. Equivalency is a documentation exercise with published rules. What tutoring can do is make sure the grades a student submits clear the thresholds comfortably, which is a different claim and an honest one.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Fujairah City

Fujairah City is the emirate's administrative centre, and the surrounding localities sit along a single coastal road or up the wadis behind it. Where a student lives changes the evening timetable far more than it changes the teaching.

Fujairah City

The emirate capital, with the port, the corniche and most of the private-school capacity. Diploma Programme candidates here are a small cohort, so a specialist in a minority subject is almost never a local hire.

Al Faseel

The coastal strip immediately north of the city centre, built around villa compounds. Short school runs in, long waits out, and a session at 16:30 is realistic for most families here.

Sakamkam

Residential and inland from the corniche, feeding the same school set as the city centre. The drive is short but the single-carriageway sections at the end of the school day are slow enough to push a session back half an hour.

Merashid

A quieter residential district with a mixed Emirati and expatriate population. Families here often run two children on different school timetables, which is the main scheduling constraint on evening lessons.

Al Gurfa

South along the coast road towards Kalba, with a longer run into the city schools. An in-home tutor billing travel to Al Gurfa is charging for the Hajar foothills, not for teaching.

Dibba

The emirate's northern town, around 45 minutes up the coast. The distance is why online delivery is not a compromise here: it is the only way a Dibba student reaches a Physics HL specialist at all.

Qidfa and Mirbah

Small coastal settlements between the city and Dibba. School transport dominates the day, and a fixed late-afternoon video lesson is easier to protect than a tutor's arrival time.

Masafi and Bithnah

Inland, up the mountain road towards Ras Al Khaimah. Any in-home arrangement here means a tutor driving a wadi road after dark, which is exactly the cost online delivery removes.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Fujairah City

Fujairah emirate

Fujairah's private schools sit under federal Ministry of Education supervision rather than an emirate-level regulator. The set is small and weighted towards Indian and British curricula, which is why a Diploma Programme student in the emirate often has no subject-level peer group at all.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the subject, the level and the paper

Not the year group alone. Chemistry HL with a weak Paper 2 and an unstarted Internal Assessment is a brief a specialist can act on. The more precise the starting description, the shorter the diagnostic phase and the fewer hours you pay for somebody finding their bearings.

  2. 02

    Take the free trial lesson

A full session, at no cost, on a topic the student is currently stuck on. You are watching for whether the tutor diagnoses rather than lectures, and whether the student talks. If the match is wrong, say so and we change it rather than persuading you to continue.

  3. 03

Fix a weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time

Sessions are scheduled in local time, so school pickups, prayer times and sibling timetables are all accounted for. Most Fujairah City families settle on a late-afternoon or post-dinner slot and keep it for the term, because an unmoved slot is the thing that keeps attendance honest.

  4. 04

Work from the student's own material

The tutor teaches against the school's scheme of work and marks the student's own scripts. Each session ends with a written note naming the next task and the criterion it targets, so there is a record a parent can read without having to sit in on the lesson.

  5. 05

    Review at the half-term

Every six to eight weeks the error log is read as a whole, not session by session. That is where a pacing problem or a command-term habit becomes visible, and it is the point at which the plan changes: more past papers, fewer content hours, or a shift onto coursework supervision.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The specialist is not local, and that is the point

A Diploma Programme minority subject has few teachers anywhere and almost none within a short drive of Fujairah City. Matching by syllabus and teaching over video is how the student reaches the right teacher instead of the nearest available one.

Market rates are published here, with sources

Three of six researched competitor pages publish no price at all and two quote US dollars. This page quotes AED bands, names the providers and the rate table behind them, and states plainly that they are market figures rather than ours.

The exam calendar is handled correctly

Cambridge offers the February and March series to India only. UAE candidates sit June and November. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May to June and November. Any session table on this site links the live official timetable instead of restating dates that get revised.

The coursework boundary is written down

We teach, question and give criterion-level feedback on the student's own draft. We do not draft, complete or supply assessed work, and the boundary is stated before the first coursework session rather than discovered halfway through.

No accreditation we do not hold

IB Gram is not approved, licensed or endorsed by KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and no page here implies otherwise. The regulators are explained because parents need to understand them, not borrowed as credentials.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Fujairah City: your questions answered

Will a tutor come to our house in Fujairah City for IB lessons?+

No. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we run only in India. Lessons for Fujairah City students are one-to-one over live video, with screen sharing on the student's own scripts and past-paper attempts. The reason is availability rather than preference: the number of people within driving distance of the corniche who have taught Diploma Chemistry or Mathematics AA to examination standard is very small, and insisting on travel would mean choosing the nearest tutor instead of the right one. You can test the format on a free trial lesson before deciding.

What does the market charge for an IB home tutor around Fujairah City?+

Published UAE market figures put in-home one-to-one tuition at roughly AED 180 to AED 500 an hour with travel included, and Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table gives AED 180 to AED 350 for in-home work rising to AED 200 to AED 450 and above for IB specialists. Online qualified subject tuition is quoted lower, around AED 150 to AED 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Those are other providers' figures, cited so you can check them. For Fujairah the travel component is larger than in Dubai because the distances are longer.

Which IB maths course should a Fujairah City student choose, AA or AI?+

It depends on the degree, not on which looks easier. Analysis and Approaches is the algebraic route with proof and calculus at its centre, and engineering, physics and mathematics degrees commonly require it, often at Higher Level. Applications and Interpretation is the statistical and modelling route and is accepted for business, psychology, design and many social sciences. Check the published entry requirements of the specific universities on the shortlist before the option form is submitted in Year 11. Changing course mid-Diploma is difficult, and a student who picked on perceived difficulty can find a target degree closed.

How much of the IB grade does the Internal Assessment carry?+

It varies by subject, and the subject guide held by your school's IB coordinator is the authority. In the sciences and in mathematics the Internal Assessment commonly carries around a fifth of the final grade, which makes it the single largest component a student controls outside the examination hall. That is also why marks are lost there for process reasons: a research question that is a topic rather than a question, data presented without processing, or a conclusion the evidence does not support. Criterion-level feedback on the student's own draft is the most efficient tutoring any Diploma student can buy.

Can a Fujairah City tutor help with my child's IB Internal Assessment without breaking the rules?+

Yes, within a boundary we state before the first session. A tutor may teach the content, help narrow a research question until it is answerable, question a method until its weaknesses show, read a draft and name which criterion is underserved, and demonstrate a referencing style. A tutor may not write, rewrite, complete or supply any part of the text. IB academic-honesty rules make the student the author, and a breach is investigated as malpractice with the consequence falling on the student. Any provider offering a finished Internal Assessment is selling your child an expulsion risk.

Does Fujairah have an education regulator like KHDA or ADEK?+

No. Dubai's private schools are overseen by KHDA and Abu Dhabi's by ADEK, while the federal Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Fujairah, Ajman and Umm Al Quwain. Sharjah has SPEA and Ras Al Khaimah has its Department of Knowledge. For a Fujairah City family that means inspection reports and curriculum approvals come through the federal route rather than an emirate authority. The federal baseline also explains the mandatory subjects: private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must follow the Ministry's general regulations.

When do UAE students sit Cambridge IGCSE and IB examinations?+

Cambridge International runs a June series and a November series for IGCSE, O Level and International A Level, with Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. The February and March series is offered to India only, so a UAE centre does not use it. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May and June and again in November. For the IB, UAE schools sit the May session, and the only reliable source for session dates is the school's IB coordinator or the IB directly. We do not publish IB dates on this site because the IB's own site blocks automated verification.

My child is in DP1 and arrived from a different curriculum. Is that fixable?+

Usually, and the fix is less about content than about assessment vocabulary. Students arriving in DP1 from another board typically know more than their marks suggest and lose grades to command terms, to criterion-based coursework they have never met, and to the habit of writing everything they know. The first sessions are diagnostic: a timed question, marked against the real criteria, with the losses logged. Most students see the pattern in their own script within three or four sessions, and from that point the work is targeted rather than general catch-up.

How do past papers work if we cannot download them from you?+

Papers, mark schemes and subject guides are copyright material belonging to the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and we do not host, reproduce or supply them. Your child's school holds what the student is entitled to use, and the IB sells past papers to families through its own store. The tutor works from whatever the student legitimately has: the attempt is scanned or photographed, annotated on screen during the session, and saved. That annotated script is the record of what was marked and why, which is more useful than a general progress report.

Do private tutors in Fujairah need a permit from the authorities?+

Yes. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued through MoHRE. The federal u.ae portal records that it is granted free of charge for two years and that eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. The same portal states that anyone tutoring without a permit is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so no amount is quoted here. MoHRE's application route is its app, website and e-services system.

Is one hour a week enough for an IB Higher Level subject?+

For a student who is coping but not secure, one well-used hour a week alongside school teaching is often enough, because the hour pre-teaches rather than repairs. For a student who has fallen behind in a Higher Level subject with a third paper to sit, one hour a week will hold the line but rarely close a gap. The honest answer depends on the error log: if the losses are technique and command terms, a short intensive block of timed papers moves more marks than months of weekly content. We would rather tell you that than sell more hours.

What happens if no specialist is free for a minority IB subject?+

We say so rather than substitute. Some Diploma subjects have very few teachers anywhere, and if nobody with the right syllabus experience has a slot that fits a Fujairah City family's timetable, the useful answer is a date when one will, or a referral. What we will not do is put a general science teacher in front of a Chemistry HL student and hope. Availability transparency is uncomfortable to publish and almost nobody in this market does it, which is precisely why it is worth saying out loud on the page.

Can a Fujairah City session move during Ramadan or the school's own examination weeks?+

Yes, and most families change the slot rather than pause. During Ramadan the usual pattern in the Northern Emirates is a shortened school day and a shift of study into the post-Iftar evening, so a late slot replaces the late-afternoon one. During the school's own internal examination weeks many students want fewer content lessons and more marked practice, which is a change of mode rather than frequency. Because nothing depends on travel, moving a video session is a calendar change and nothing more.

How will I know the tutoring is working?+

Through three things you can read yourself. First, the written note after each session naming the task set and the criterion it targets. Second, the annotated scripts, which show the mark being awarded or withheld rather than describing it. Third, the error log reviewed every six to eight weeks, which turns a list of mistakes into a diagnosis: a pacing problem in the last twenty minutes of a paper, a command-term habit, a topic genuinely not understood. If the log stops changing, the plan needs to change, and that review is where we say so.

Does IB Gram have an office or centre in Fujairah?+

No. IB Gram has no office, centre or branch in Fujairah or anywhere else in the UAE, and no page here claims one. We are a tutor-matching platform delivering one-to-one lessons over live video, and the administrative contact is online. Two providers ranking for these searches show a UAE footer address on pages for emirates they do not operate in, and one routes UAE parents to an Indian phone number without saying so. We would rather state the position plainly: online delivery, no UAE premises, no regulator accreditation claimed.
