IB Home Tutor in Merashid

Most people pricing an IB home tutor in Merashid want one number and get none. Nobody in this search result publishes a rate in dirhams. This page does, with every figure attributed: what the market charges, which six variables move it, what a month actually costs, and where Fujairah families lose money. IB Gram teaches Merashid students one-to-one over live video rather than sending anyone to the door.

IB & IGCSE in Merashid

Nobody publishes a number, so here is one

Research on this search result produced an awkward finding. Of six pages competing for queries about tutoring in this market, three publish no price whatsoever, and the two that do quote in US dollars — a currency no family in Merashid pays school fees in, settles a utility bill in, or budgets a month in. One agency's own frequently asked questions asks what tutoring costs and then declines to answer. A parent trying to work out whether a Diploma subject is affordable has nothing to compare, which is presumably the intention.

So this page leads with money. Not a price list, because inventing one would be dishonest, but the market: what providers in the UAE publish, what band each provider model sits in, what a month costs at one session a week and at two, and the six specific variables that move a quote up or down. Every figure below was read from a published source in October 2026 and is attributed where it sits. None of them is an IB Gram price. Ours follows a free trial lesson and depends on what you actually need.

Merashid is an established residential district of Fujairah with a high proportion of long-term resident families, and the subject demand that comes out of it skews towards the harder end: sciences and mathematics at Higher Level, where local specialist supply across the emirate is thinnest. That combination is worth naming because it drives price. Scarcity is one of the six variables, and in a small school market it is the one that moves a quote most.

IB Gram delivers to Merashid as one-to-one online lessons over live video on Gulf Standard Time. It does not offer home visits in the UAE; home visits are a service that exists only in India, and the same statement appears on every country page this site publishes. The in-home market here is real and the published band for it is roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour. A later section breaks that premium into its parts, because once you can see what the extra is paying for, the comparison stops being a matter of preference.

A caution on two numbers you will not find here. No UAE VAT treatment of tuition is stated, because that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation and this page has none; ask any provider directly whether a quoted figure includes VAT. And no fine amount for unpermitted tutoring appears, because the ministry did not publish a schedule and the figure circulating online could not be verified against any official source. Those two absences are deliberate, and they are the kind of absence worth looking for on any page that quotes money at you. A provider willing to publish a number it cannot source will publish others, and a parent has no way to tell which figures on such a page were read from a document and which were estimated into existence. The simplest protection is to ask where a number came from and to treat a vague answer as the answer.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Cost varies by programme as much as by subject, because the assessment load differs. Three stages account for nearly every Merashid enquiry about Diploma pricing.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Four criteria per subject, each marked out of eight and converted to a 1-7 grade, with a Personal Project in the final year marked out of 24. No terminal papers in the earlier years, which means tutoring here is development rather than repair and is usually booked at one session a week.

This is the cheapest stage at which to buy tutoring and the one Merashid families most often skip. A criterion-level weakness identified in Year 9 costs a handful of sessions; the same weakness surfacing in the second Diploma year costs a term. Ask the school for the criterion breakdown behind a reported grade rather than the grade alone.

DP1Ages 16-17 · Year 12

Diploma Programme, first year

Six subjects begin, the Extended Essay is chosen, and the Internal Assessments are set up. One weekly session per subject at this stage runs ahead of the school's scheme of work rather than behind it, which is why the cost per grade gained is lowest here.

In Merashid, where demand concentrates on Higher Level sciences and mathematics, this is the year in which a scarcity premium can be avoided. Booking a Higher Level Chemistry specialist in the autumn of the first year is easier and usually cheaper than booking one in the spring of the second, when every family in the Gulf is looking for the same person.

DP2Ages 17-19 · Year 13

Diploma Programme, final year

Internal Assessment deadlines, the Extended Essay submission, mock examinations and the May session, usually in that order. Tutoring at this stage is repair under deadline pressure, which costs more per mark gained than the same work done a year earlier.

Market monthly estimates for specialist exam-year support run from roughly AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for a weekly hour, which is the highest band published for any kind of tutoring in this country. That premium is the price of lateness rather than of quality, and it is the single most avoidable cost in the entire Diploma.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Subjects are not interchangeable in price, because the specialist pool differs. The note on each one below says what drives its cost rather than only what it assesses.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The most requested Higher Level subject in the Gulf and consequently the one where booking early matters most. Papers 1 and 2 at thirty per cent each, Paper 3 at twenty, Exploration at twenty. Paper 3 is the least practised component and the one a specialist adds most value on.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Easier to staff than Analysis and Approaches because fewer families request it, which in practice means a shorter wait rather than a lower rate. Modelling questions require interpretation written in context, and calculator technique is examinable in itself.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Scarce at Higher Level across all the smaller emirates, which makes it the subject where a scarcity premium is most visible. Paper 1 at thirty-six per cent, Paper 2 at forty-four, Internal Assessment at twenty, capped at 3,000 words across four criteria.

Physics

HL and SL

Comparable scarcity to Chemistry at Higher Level. Mathematical fluency is the hidden cost driver: a Physics student who is also weak algebraically needs more hours, and a good tutor will say so in the first fortnight rather than the third month.

Biology

HL and SL

Easier to staff than the other two sciences and the heaviest on content, so the hours tend to be more numerous and individually less specialised. Systematic retrieval practice is cheaper than extra teaching and most of the gain comes from it.

Economics

HL and SL

Reasonably available and often efficient to tutor, because diagram accuracy is a narrow, teachable skill that carries a disproportionate share of the marks. The portfolio is three commentaries of no more than 800 words each.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Widely available, which keeps rates near the middle of the band. The Individual Oral is where hours convert fastest at Standard Level, because it is worth thirty per cent and is rehearsable in a way the written papers are not.

Business Management

HL and SL

Available and inexpensive to tutor relative to the sciences. The pre-released case for the Higher Level paper is the single best use of booked hours, because it can be worked through months ahead of the examination itself.

Computer Science

HL and SL

One of the scarcest Higher Level subjects in the smaller emirates, so expect a wait rather than a surcharge. The solution-development Internal Assessment assesses documentation alongside the product, which is where strong programmers lose marks.

Environmental Systems and Societies

SL and HL

Chosen as a lighter option and frequently found demanding, because it requires both data handling and evaluative writing about human systems. Scarce enough that availability rather than price is the binding constraint.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats at three price points, all delivered online and one-to-one. The cheapest is not the one with the lowest hourly rate; it is the one booked early enough to be development rather than repair.

One weekly session, booked in the first Diploma year

The lowest cost per grade gained of any arrangement, because the work runs slightly ahead of the school's scheme rather than behind it and nothing is being repaired against a deadline. Market monthly estimates for a weekly mid-range hour sit around AED 600 to 1,200.

  • A fixed weekly slot on Gulf Standard Time
  • Work set between sessions and marked before the next one
  • Booked in the autumn of the first year, before the scarcity season

Two sessions a week in the final stretch

Roughly double the monthly figure, and market estimates for specialist exam-year support run from about AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more a month. Worth it when a diagnostic shows a short, specific list of lost-mark causes. Poor value when the gaps run across the whole syllabus, because there is not enough time to close them.

  • Opens with a timed paper marked against the official scheme
  • Second session each week moves to full papers under timing
  • Ends without adding new content in the final fortnight

A short fixed block on one component

Four to six sessions aimed at a single thing: the Internal Assessment plan, the Individual Oral, the pre-released business case, or Paper 3 at Higher Level mathematics. The most efficient purchase available, because the component is identifiable and the work has a visible end point.

  • Scoped and priced as a block rather than open-ended
  • Targets a named component with a published weighting
  • Finishes rather than rolling on indefinitely

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Merashid

01

What the market charges, and which model charges what

Start with the band rather than a single figure, because the spread is wide and the reason for the spread is the useful part. Published rates read in October 2026 put budget online platforms and university-student tutors between roughly AED 45 and 150 an hour, with some platform entry rates quoted from AED 33. A qualified subject tutor working online sits at roughly AED 150 to 300, with one agency publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. A named IB, IGCSE or A Level specialist runs roughly AED 200 to 450 or more; one agency publishes AED 270. In-home one-to-one visits including travel run roughly AED 180 to 500. At the top, a single provider publishes AED 650 an hour for a premium named tutor.

Monthly packages advertised in the market include roughly AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and roughly AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Those two figures are worth comparing carefully, because the second buys eight hours of contact and the first buys eight sessions, and a session is not always an hour. Always convert a package to a cost per contact hour before comparing it with an hourly rate.

Every one of those numbers belongs to the provider who published it, and quoting one is not an endorsement of the provider or a comment on their quality. They are here because a Merashid parent needs a reference range and the pages competing for this search decline to give one. IB Gram's own figure is not in this table, because a single number would be misleading: what we charge depends on the subject, the level and the frequency, and it follows the free trial lesson.

One practical instruction before you compare anything. Ask every provider, including us, whether the quoted figure includes VAT. This page states nothing about the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees because doing so responsibly requires a Federal Tax Authority citation, and we have none to offer. What a parent can always do is require the answer in writing from whoever is quoting.

The six variables that move a Diploma tutoring quote

A rate is not a property of a tutor. It is the output of six things, and knowing which ones apply to your request tells you whether a quote is reasonable before you have anything to compare it with. Most families only know about the first.

The first is level. Higher Level costs more than Standard Level because the pool of people who have taught it is smaller and the preparation per session is longer. The second is subject scarcity, which in the smaller emirates is the dominant factor: Higher Level Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and Environmental Systems and Societies are harder to staff than English or Business Management, and scarcity shows up as a longer wait or a higher figure or both.

The third is timing, and it is the one families control and routinely waste. A Higher Level Chemistry specialist booked in the autumn of the first Diploma year is easier to find than the same specialist in the spring of the second, when every family in the Gulf is looking. Market estimates for specialist exam-year support are the highest published band for any tutoring in this country, and a good share of that premium is the price of lateness rather than of expertise.

The fourth is frequency: two sessions a week is not double the value of one, because the work between sessions is where most of the consolidation happens and a student can only absorb so much. The fifth is format, covered in its own section below. The sixth is scope — a defined block on one component is priced differently from an open-ended weekly commitment, and for a specific need the block is almost always better value.

What a month actually costs, in three realistic scenarios

Hourly rates are a poor planning tool because nobody buys an hour. Families buy months, and a month has four or five sessions in it depending on the calendar. Published monthly estimates for a single weekly one-hour session run roughly AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, roughly AED 600 to 1,200 for a mid-range qualified tutor, and roughly AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Those are the three bands worth planning against.

The first scenario is a first-year Diploma student with one weak subject, taking one session a week with a qualified subject tutor. That is the mid-range band, and over an academic year it is the lowest-cost route to a grade change because the work is developmental. The second is a final-year student with a short, specific list of lost-mark causes, taking two sessions a week for eight to ten weeks. That is a concentrated spend in the exam-year band, and it is justified only when a diagnostic has produced that list.

The third is a defined block: four to six sessions on one component, such as the Internal Assessment plan, the Individual Oral or Paper 3 at Higher Level mathematics. Priced as a block rather than monthly, it is the most efficient purchase available, because the target has a published weighting and a visible finish. Many families would be better served by two of these a year than by an open-ended weekly commitment they stop examining after the first term.

The scenario to avoid is the fourth one, which nobody plans and many end up in: two subjects at two sessions a week each, started in the spring of the final year, with gaps across the syllabus in both. That is four sessions and four sets of homework a week on top of a Diploma workload, at the highest published band, with insufficient time to close the gaps. It is the most expensive arrangement available and among the least effective.

04

What the in-home premium buys in Merashid, broken into parts

  • The premium pays for presence, a shorter subject list and a drifting start time
  • Only presence is a benefit; the other two are costs
  • A late start is a shorter session, not a delayed one
  • Mitigate a screen with shorter sessions and live written working

The in-home band and the online band overlap, which makes the comparison look like a matter of taste. It is more useful to split the in-home figure into what it pays for. A travelling tutor is paid for the teaching, for the journey, and for the scarcity of people willing to make that journey on a weekday evening. In a dense city the second component is small and the third barely exists. In Merashid both are substantial.

So the premium buys three things here and only the first is a benefit. A person physically present, which is genuinely valuable for a younger child who needs supervision as much as teaching. A shorter list of available subjects, because the set of people who will drive to Merashid and who have also taught Higher Level Chemistry is very close to empty. And a start time that drifts, because an arrival is not a slot and over a term the drift compounds.

For a Diploma student working towards a May session, the third is the one that costs marks. The weekly homework cycle only works if the sessions land where they were booked: work set, work done, work marked, next session built on the marking. A session that starts twenty minutes late and finishes on time has lost a third of itself, and a session cancelled because of traffic has broken the cycle for a fortnight.

The honest counterweight is that some students genuinely concentrate better with somebody at the table. The mitigations for a screen are practical rather than rhetorical: shorter sessions with a break, a shared document the tutor writes on live so the student watches working appear, a visible worked page rather than a talking head, and a parent within earshot for the first few weeks. Merashid families with a younger child should weigh that seriously; for a Year 13 student it is usually a secondary consideration.

05

Tutoring cost in context: fees, entries and the two-year plan

Tutoring is rarely the largest education line in a Merashid household budget, and seeing it against the others changes how it gets decided. School fees dominate. Examination entry fees for a private candidate are a real cost that families forget until the invoice arrives. And a two-year Diploma plan at one session a week in one subject is a different kind of commitment from a short block, even though the hourly rate is identical.

For context on the wider picture, Dubai's authority confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private-school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under an economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. Fujairah's private schools are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education rather than by that authority, so the freeze does not apply here. It is still a useful data point: when the biggest line is held flat somewhere, the discretionary lines get examined more closely everywhere.

The Dubai market numbers give a sense of scale that is otherwise hard to picture. In 2024-25 the emirate had 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering seventeen different curricula, with the UK curriculum at thirty-seven per cent of enrolment, Indian at twenty-six, American at fourteen and the International Baccalaureate at seven. Seven new private schools were announced for the 2026-27 intake, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places. Fujairah operates at a fraction of that, which is precisely why its specialist supply is thin.

The planning conclusion is boring and correct. Decide the annual tutoring budget as a line in the household education budget, before choosing a provider, and then choose the arrangement that fits it. A family that decides it can spend the mid-range monthly band on one subject for a year will make better decisions than one that starts with two sessions a week in two subjects and reviews it when the figure becomes uncomfortable in March.

Where Merashid families waste tutoring money

  • Starting in the final spring pays a scarcity premium, not a quality premium
  • Hours bought before a diagnostic go wherever the anxiety points
  • Two subjects at once usually produces two half-improvements
  • Ask monthly for the updated risk list and the marked work behind it

Five patterns account for most of the wasted spend, and none of them involves a bad tutor. The first is starting late. Market estimates for specialist exam-year support are the highest published band for any tutoring in the country, and a good part of that premium is the cost of scarcity in the spring rather than any difference in teaching. Booking the same specialist eighteen months earlier buys the same person at a lower band with more time to work in.

The second is buying hours without a diagnostic. If nobody has sat a timed paper, marked it against the official scheme and attributed every lost mark to a cause, then the plan is a guess and the hours go wherever the student's anxiety points. The six causes — content not known, content not recalled under pressure, question misread, command term misread, method not written, time ran out — need completely different remedies, and five of six are not fixed by more teaching.

The third is spreading across too many subjects. Two subjects at two sessions a week each is four sessions plus four sets of homework on top of a Diploma load, and the usual result is two half-improvements. Sequencing produces better outcomes for the same money: the subject with the shortest loss list first, banked, then the hours move. The fourth is paying for presence a student does not need, which is the in-home premium analysed above.

The fifth is the quietest and the most common: not reviewing. An arrangement that made sense in October is rarely examined in February. The thing to ask for is the written risk list from the diagnostic, updated, with each item marked closed, improving or unchanged. An item that has not moved in three weeks is a conversation. Three unchanged items after two months is a reason to change something, and the something is not always the tutor.

07

Free trials, permits and the questions to ask about any price

A free trial lesson should be free without conditions attached that only appear later, and if any condition exists it should be stated on the same screen as the word free. Ours is one lesson with the matched tutor before anything is paid, with the parent able to listen in. What it is for is a test of explanation: whether your child can follow this person, and whether the tutor thinks in weightings, criteria and command terms rather than in enthusiasm.

On permits, the cost is zero and that is worth knowing because it removes an excuse. The UAE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. It is applied for through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation's own service, with a stated two working days to complete. Individuals tutoring without a permit face fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and because the ministry published no schedule, no amount appears here.

There is also a rule a Merashid parent should know before approaching a school teacher privately. Abu Dhabi's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the teacher's school. Treat that as press-reported rather than as exact regulatory wording and check the current policy, but the underlying principle holds across the country.

Five questions settle most price conversations. Does the figure include VAT, in writing. Is the rate per hour or per session, and how long is a session. What happens if we stop after one month. Who marks the work between sessions, and is that time included. And what happens if the matched tutor becomes unavailable. A provider that answers all five plainly is giving you more information than any of the pages competing for this search.

08

Academic honesty, and why a cheap Internal Assessment is the most expensive thing available

There is one purchase in this market that costs more than every premium rate combined, and it is advertised as a bargain. A page in this search result sells completed Internal Assessment work at a fixed price. Under the board's own rules, submitting work that is not the candidate's own is malpractice, and the consequence falls on the student's qualification rather than on the seller's business. Measured against two years of Diploma work and a university offer, that is the highest-cost item on any menu in this market.

The legitimate boundary is drawn by authorship. A tutor may teach the content, explain each assessment criterion in the board's published wording, show how a comparable task is approached, read a draft the student has written and name which criterion it misses, and teach the student to fix it themselves. A tutor may not write the Internal Assessment, draft the Extended Essay, or edit a piece to completion so that the words become the tutor's own.

Knowing the limits is part of a specialist's competence and a cheap thing to test. The Extended Essay is capped at 4,000 words, the Theory of Knowledge essay at 1,600, the exhibition commentary at 950, the sciences investigation at 3,000, and each Economics commentary at 800. A tutor who does not know those figures is not working from the subject guide. A tutor who offers to supply the guides, past papers or mark schemes as downloads is redistributing the board's copyrighted material rather than teaching from it.

Finally, position. IB Gram is not approved, accredited, licensed or partnered by the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge International, Pearson, the Ministry of Education, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, the Department of Education and Knowledge, the Sharjah Private Education Authority or the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. It holds no such relationship, claims none, and operates no premises in the UAE. Any price quoted here belongs to the provider who published it, and ours arrives after a trial lesson rather than before one.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Merashid

Merashid and the districts around it. The comparison that matters for cost is scarcity of local specialists rather than distance, and it runs the same way across all of them.

Merashid

Established residential district with many long-term resident families, and demand weighted towards Higher Level sciences and mathematics. That is the band where Fujairah's specialist supply is thinnest, so scarcity drives price more than anything local does.

Fujairah City centre

Most of the emirate's private-school capacity and the widest local subject range. Proximity to the schools shortens commutes but does not widen the pool of Higher Level specialists, which is the variable that sets a Diploma quote.

Sakamkam

Inland and north-west, with the longest afternoon return among the inner districts. Longer journeys push an in-home tutor's effective hourly cost up even when the quoted rate stays the same.

Al Faseel

Coastal, near the corniche and the port, roughly fifteen minutes from the city schools. The shortest drive of the inner districts, which is the only respect in which an in-home quote should be cheaper here.

Al Gurfa

South along the coast road and more dispersed, frequently with two school runs per household. Families here often buy two subjects at once, which is where a package rate becomes worth asking about.

Dibba Al Fujairah

Around ninety minutes north, with the fewest local secondary options in the emirate. An in-home quote to Dibba carries a travel component large enough that online delivery is the only economically sensible route.

Khor Fakkan

A Sharjah enclave on this coast, so its schools answer to the Sharjah Private Education Authority. School fee structures differ from Fujairah's as a result, which changes the household budget tutoring sits inside.

School ecosystem

Fujairah city and the residential districts

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Decide the annual budget before choosing anyone

Set the tutoring line in the household education budget first, then choose the arrangement that fits it. Families who pick a provider first and discover the annual figure in March make worse decisions than those who decide they can spend the mid-range monthly band on one subject for a year.

  2. 02

Send the subject, the level and how soon the deadline is

Higher or Standard Level, which subject, and whether the pressing thing is a paper, an Internal Assessment or the core. Those three facts drive both the match and the quote, because level and scarcity are two of the six variables that move a price.

Take the free trial lesson before discussing money

One lesson with the matched tutor, with you able to listen in, before anything is paid. If the explanation does not land with your child, the price is irrelevant. If it does, the quote that follows can be judged against the market bands published on this page rather than against nothing.

  4. 04

Ask the five price questions in writing

Does the figure include VAT. Per hour or per session, and how long is a session. What happens if we stop after a month. Who marks work between sessions and is that time included. What happens if the tutor becomes unavailable. Answers in writing are the point.

  5. 05

Insist on a diagnostic before buying a block of hours

A timed paper marked against the official scheme with every lost mark attributed to a cause. Without it the plan is a guess and the hours follow the student's anxiety. With it, a short specific list makes a concentrated spend rational and a long diffuse list tells you to spread the work over longer instead.

  6. 06

Review the risk list monthly, not at the end of term

Ask for the updated list with each item marked closed, improving or unchanged, and the marked work behind it. An item unchanged for three weeks is a conversation. Three unchanged after two months means something should change, and it is not always the tutor.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

A number, with its source attached

Three of six ranking pages in this market publish no price and two quote in dollars. Every figure here is a published market rate read in October 2026 and attributed to the model that publishes it, so a Merashid parent has a reference range instead of a sales conversation with no anchor.

The six variables made explicit

Level, subject scarcity, how late you book, frequency, format and scope. Three of those are entirely within a family's control, and the largest avoidable premium in the Diploma is simply booking in the final spring instead of the first autumn.

Monthly budgets rather than hourly rates

Nobody buys an hour. Market monthly estimates for one weekly session run roughly AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-range and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more in the exam year. Those bands are what a household budget can actually be built against.

The in-home premium broken into parts

It pays for presence, a shorter subject list and a drifting start time. Only presence is a benefit. For a Merashid family with a younger child that may still be the right trade; for a final-year Diploma student it rarely is, and the reasoning is set out rather than asserted.

Waste named rather than implied

Starting late, buying hours with no diagnostic, spreading across subjects, paying for presence nobody needs, and never reviewing. Four of the five are decisions rather than accidents, which is why they are listed where a parent can act on them.

No invented figures, anywhere

No VAT treatment is asserted, because that needs a Federal Tax Authority citation. No fine amount for unpermitted tutoring, because the ministry published no schedule. No IB points threshold for equivalency, because no official source could be verified. Absences on this page are deliberate.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Merashid: your questions answered

What does an IB tutor cost per hour for a family in Merashid?+

Published market rates read in October 2026 put a qualified online subject tutor at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, a named IB specialist at roughly AED 200 to 450 or more, in-home visits including travel at roughly AED 180 to 500, and budget platforms between AED 45 and 150. One provider publishes AED 650 an hour at the premium end. Those belong to the providers who published them and are not IB Gram prices; ours follows a free trial lesson and depends on subject, level and frequency.

Why does Higher Level cost more than Standard Level?+

Because the pool of people who have actually taught the course is smaller and the preparation per session is longer. Level is one of six variables that move a quote; the others are subject scarcity in your emirate, how late you book, how often you meet, the format, and whether the engagement is a defined block or open-ended. In the smaller emirates scarcity is usually the dominant one, and it tends to show up as a longer wait rather than purely as a higher figure.

Is it cheaper to buy a monthly package or pay by the hour?+

It depends on what a session is, which is why the first step is converting a package to a cost per contact hour. Advertised packages in this market include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and roughly AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. The second buys eight hours of contact; the first buys eight sessions of unstated length. Ask how long a session runs before comparing either with an hourly figure.

How much should a Merashid family budget per month for one Diploma subject?+

Published monthly estimates for a single weekly one-hour session run roughly AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 for a mid-range qualified tutor, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. The mid-range band taken across the first Diploma year is the lowest cost per grade gained, because the work is developmental rather than repair. Set that line in the household budget before choosing a provider rather than after.

Does the quoted tutoring price include VAT?+

Ask whoever is quoting, in writing, and require the answer before paying. This page deliberately states nothing about the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees, because doing so responsibly requires a Federal Tax Authority citation and there is none on offer here. What a parent can always do is make the inclusive or exclusive position explicit in the quote. It belongs alongside four other questions: per hour or per session, session length, cancellation terms, and whether marking time is included.

Why is starting in the final spring the most expensive option?+

Because the premium you pay then is scarcity, not quality. Market estimates for specialist exam-year support are the highest published band for any tutoring in this country, and in the spring every family in the Gulf is looking for the same Higher Level specialists. Booking the same person in the autumn of the first Diploma year costs less per month, buys more time to work in, and turns the engagement from repair under deadline pressure into development. It is the single most avoidable cost in the Diploma.

Which Diploma subjects are most expensive to tutor in the smaller emirates?+

Higher Level Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science and Environmental Systems and Societies, because the number of people who have taught those courses recently is smallest. English A, Business Management and Economics are easier to staff and therefore sit nearer the middle of the band. In Merashid, where demand skews towards Higher Level sciences and mathematics, scarcity is the variable most likely to be binding, and it often appears as a waiting period rather than a surcharge.

Is two sessions a week twice as good as one?+

No, and the reason is where consolidation happens. Most of the gain from tutoring comes from the work done between sessions, marked and then built on, and a student can only absorb so much of that alongside a Diploma load. Two sessions a week is the right purchase for a defined eight to ten week run after a diagnostic has produced a short list of causes. As a permanent arrangement it tends to produce diminishing returns at double the monthly cost.

What is the cheapest useful thing I can buy for a Diploma student?+

A defined block of four to six sessions on one named component with a published weighting: the Internal Assessment plan, the Individual Oral, the pre-released business case, or Paper 3 at Higher Level mathematics. Priced as a block rather than monthly, with a visible end point. Many families would do better with two of those a year than with an open-ended weekly arrangement nobody re-examines after the first term. The component is identifiable, so the result is too.

Does the in-home premium make sense for a younger child in Merashid?+

Sometimes, and more often than it does for an older one. The premium pays for three things: physical presence, a shorter list of available subjects, and a start time that drifts with the traffic. Presence is a real benefit for a child who needs supervision as much as teaching. For a final-year Diploma student the drift is the problem, because a session beginning twenty minutes late and ending on time has lost a third of itself and broken the weekly homework cycle.

How does tutoring compare with school fees in a Fujairah household?+

Fees dominate in almost every case, which is why tutoring is the line families examine and fees the line they absorb. For scale, Dubai had 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25 offering seventeen curricula, and its authority confirmed in May 2026 that fees would not rise for 2026-27 under an incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. Fujairah sits under federal Ministry of Education supervision, so that freeze does not apply, but the climate it reflects does.

What does the UAE private tutoring permit cost a tutor?+

Nothing. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years, applied for through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation's own service with a stated two working days to complete. Because it is free and fast, there is no good reason for a tutor working in the UAE not to hold one. Tutoring without it brings fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though the ministry published no schedule so no figure is quoted.

Can I pay less by sharing a tutor with another Merashid family?+

The cost per student falls and the attention each child receives falls with it, which is the trade. Group pricing is genuinely lower per head and works where two students are at the same level in the same subject with similar gaps, which is rarer than it sounds. It works poorly when one student needs content taught and the other needs technique fixed. In Fujairah the binding problem is usually timing: aligning two school runs to one slot is harder than finding the saving.

What should make me stop paying and change something?+

Three items on the risk list unchanged after two months, with marked work to show it. That is a concrete signal rather than a feeling, which is why the diagnostic and the written list matter from the start. The change is not always the tutor: it can be the subject being prioritised, the frequency, or the format. What should not happen is continuing an arrangement nobody has examined since October because the monthly figure has become a habit.

Set the budget, take the trial, then ask the five questions

For a Merashid family the order matters more than the provider. Decide the annual tutoring line first. Send the subject, the level and how near the deadline is. Take the free trial lesson and judge the explanation rather than the enthusiasm. Then ask whether the figure includes VAT, whether it is per hour or per session, what happens if you stop after a month, whether marking time is included, and what happens if the tutor becomes unavailable — all in writing. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. Nobody is sent to a Merashid address, and every rate above belongs to the provider that published it.
