IGCSE Tutor near me in Town Square

An IGCSE tutor near me in Town Square is an easy search for maths and a hard one for Arabic first language, Business Studies or a modular Pearson entry. This page audits the coverage subject by subject, says which requests are genuinely scarce, and names what counts towards Ministry equivalency. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Coverage stated subject by subject, including where it is thin
  • Matched to your school's board and syllabus code, never to a subject name
  • One-to-one live video; no home visits anywhere in the UAE

IB & IGCSE in Town Square

Which IGCSE subjects can you actually get a tutor for near Town Square?

The question behind the search is whether anybody nearby knows the syllabus, and the honest answer varies enormously by subject. For IGCSE maths and the three sciences, Dubai has a deep market and the only real question is whether a given tutor teaches your board. For Business Studies, Economics, Computer Science, Arabic first language or a Pearson modular entry, the market thins quickly, and in some terms a specific combination cannot be covered at all by anybody.

Nobody publishes that asymmetry, which is why families spend weeks discovering it. A parent in Town Square searching for a Business Studies tutor is not failing to search properly. They are looking for something that a Dubai market built around maths and science tuition does not supply in volume, and the sooner somebody says so the sooner the family can plan around it — a different subject prioritised, a November entry, or more weight on the school's own support.

Town Square compounds this. It is a Nshama community off Al Qudra Road, populated recently by younger families, and Dubai's tutoring supply clusters around the older school corridors rather than the newer Dubailand ones. So the subset of tutors willing to work out here is already smaller, and once you require the correct board, the correct tier and a less-common subject, the subset can be empty.

IB Gram does not solve the thin subjects by pretending. Lessons for Town Square families are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, which widens the pool from whoever will drive to Al Qudra Road to the whole roster — and that genuinely fixes maths, sciences, English and most mainstream subjects. For the scarce ones it improves the odds without guaranteeing them, and we tell you which case you are in before you commit to anything. We make no home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run in India only.

There is a second reason to think subject by subject rather than in general, and it is the Ministry of Education equivalency rule. The published British-track requirement is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five. That changes which subjects a plan actually depends on, and it is the kind of detail that should shape where tutoring money goes.

KHDA reported 387,441 pupils across Dubai's 227 private schools in 2024-25, with UK-curriculum schools at 37% of enrolment — the largest single bloc. A cohort that size is why general IGCSE tutoring is plentiful and why nobody bothers to tell you which specific subjects are not.

At a glance

  • Maths and the sciences are well covered; Business, Economics, Computer Science and Arabic first language are thin
  • Ask the school for the board and syllabus code per subject before hiring anybody
  • MoE equivalency needs five IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or 3
  • Arabic and Islamic education do not count towards those five
  • UAE candidates sit the June and November series; February/March is India-only
  • Online one-to-one only in the UAE; no IB Gram home visits anywhere here
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Coverage and need both change with the year group. These are the stages we cover for Town Square IGCSE families and what each actually requires.

Y9Ages 13-14 · Year 9

Year 9, option choices

The year subjects are chosen and tier placement begins. Nothing is examined externally, which makes it the cheapest point to influence the outcome and the easiest to skip. The subjects chosen here determine whether the five equivalency subjects will be comfortably available in two years or uncomfortably tight.

Town Square families often arrive mid-stage from another system, and option forms are signed in a hurry during a settling-in term. Worth checking before signing: whether the chosen set gives five countable subjects with room to spare, since Arabic and Islamic education do not count towards the Ministry's five.

Y10Ages 14-15 · Year 10

Year 10, the content year

Most of the syllabus is delivered across eight to ten subjects simultaneously, and tier entries are confirmed. The real difficulty is breadth rather than any individual subject being hard, and students who fall behind in one subject usually do so because the others were consuming the week.

This is the year to buy help in a thin subject if you are going to, because availability in Business Studies or Computer Science does not improve as Year 11 progresses. Waiting until February and then discovering nobody covers the subject is the specific failure this page exists to prevent.

Y11Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Year 11, mocks and the series

The work shifts to producing marks: command-term discipline, showing method, timing, reading a question for what it asks. Grades arrive as 9-1 or A*-G depending on subject and board, and both scales appear on UAE school reports side by side.

For a Town Square family in February, the useful conversation is which subjects can move and which should be re-entered in November. A subject nobody can tutor is a strong candidate for the November route, with the summer used for a narrow fixed-scope block rather than a diluted spring.

Post-16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

What the grades are for

Most UAE British-curriculum schools split after Year 11 into A Levels or the IB Diploma, and IGCSE grades gate the subject choices. Separately, the Ministry of Education equivalency route depends on five countable subjects at the published minimum grade plus an Advanced or Advanced Subsidiary Level requirement.

Two separate gates, often confused. School progression is set by the school; equivalency is a Ministry process that IB Gram neither performs nor guarantees, and no provider should imply tutoring is required for it. Verify the current rule on moe.gov.ae rather than on any tutoring site, this one included.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

This is the coverage audit. For each subject: the codes to check, where marks go, and how easy the subject genuinely is to cover from Town Square.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580; Pearson 4MA1

Deeply covered in Dubai and straightforward to match online, provided the board and tier are known. Marks go on non-calculator fluency, multi-step unstructured problems and method not written down. Tier decides the grade ceiling, so establish it first.

Physics

Cambridge 0625; Pearson 4PH1

Well covered. Precise definitions, units carried through and formula rearrangement under pressure. Where the Alternative to Practical route applies, it is reliably where the most marks sit relative to the preparation effort required.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620; Pearson 4CH1

Well covered. Moles and stoichiometry are the wall, and the required ion tests and qualitative analysis are heavily examined and quick to secure once identified as the gap.

Biology

Cambridge 0610; Pearson 4BI1

Well covered. Recall volume plus command-term precision — describe, explain and suggest want different answers, and a knowledgeable student writing the wrong shape scores low regardless of what they know.

English Language

Cambridge 0500 or 0990; Pearson 4EA1

Well covered. Directed writing and the extended response carry the marks and are won on structure and register rather than vocabulary. Reading questions reward precise textual reference, not retelling.

English as a Second Language

Cambridge 0510 and 0511

Reasonably covered and good value for targeted work, because the component skills are discrete and measurable. A short block aimed at one weak strand produces visible movement quickly.

Business Studies

Cambridge 0450

Thin. Dubai's tutoring market is built around maths and science, and Business Studies specialists are a much smaller group. Marks sit in applying a concept to the case material and reaching a judgement; definitions alone plateau at the lower bands.

Economics

Cambridge 0455

Thin. Diagrams must be drawn and then used in the answer, and data-response questions reward application over recall. Availability varies by term, so a Year 10 start is considerably safer than a Year 11 one.

Computer Science and ICT

Cambridge 0478 and 0417

Thin at the theory end. The written paper tests data representation, logic and networks at least as much as code, and students comfortable at a keyboard lose marks hand-tracing algorithms and writing pseudocode to convention.

Arabic as a first language

Cambridge first language routes

Scarce as a tutoring subject despite being mandatory in Dubai schools. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs because curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ, and support must match the stream the student actually sits.

Arabic as an additional language

Cambridge additional language routes

Also scarce, and a different course from the first-language route. Worth knowing that neither Arabic route counts towards the five subjects required for Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track.

Additional Mathematics

Cambridge 0606

Moderately covered, usually by maths specialists who also teach A Level or Diploma maths. Calculus and trigonometric identities arrive early and expose any residual algebraic weakness immediately. Worth buying only if the post-16 route needs it.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Town Square families use IGCSE tutoring, all online over live video. For a thin subject, the mode matters more because availability may not last a whole year.

Weekly in a well-covered subject

Maths, a science or English, with a fixed slot and one tutor following the school's topic order. Matching is reliable, substitution is possible if a tutor becomes unavailable, and the arrangement can start and stop without much planning risk.

  • Sixty minutes weekly in a fixed Gulf Standard Time slot
  • Matched to the exact board and syllabus code
  • Reliable availability across terms
  • Half-term reviews against specification objectives

Secured block in a thin subject

For Business Studies, Economics, Computer Science theory or an Arabic route, we book a defined block when a specialist is available rather than assuming they will still be free next term. Shorter, scoped, and arranged around the specialist's availability rather than around the school year.

  • Scope and dates agreed up front, because availability shifts
  • Usually six to twelve sessions in a defined window
  • We say plainly if nobody is free, rather than holding the enquiry
  • Better bought in Year 10 than in February of Year 11

November entry block

One subject, a defined topic list, a fixed endpoint at the November papers. The narrowest and cheapest purchase in the sequence, and the right answer for a subject that could not be covered in time for June or where the June result did not land.

  • Topic list agreed as scope before the first session
  • Six to ten sessions across the summer and first term
  • Results reach students in January, in time for applications
  • No automatic rollover into open-ended tutoring

01

The coverage audit: which IGCSE subjects are easy and which are not

This is the table nobody publishes, and it is the thing a Town Square family most needs before spending time searching. Dubai's tutoring market grew around maths and the three sciences, because that is where demand concentrates and where qualified supply followed. Everything else is thinner, and some things are very thin indeed.

The practical consequence is that the right strategy differs by subject. For maths or physics, you can afford to be fussy: insist on the correct board, the correct tier and a tutor who can describe where marks go, and there will be candidates. For Business Studies or Computer Science theory, the sensible approach is to secure a specialist when one is available rather than waiting for the ideal match, because the ideal match may not exist this term.

For Arabic, the picture is different again and worth setting out properly. It is mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of curriculum, so every student takes it, and yet it is one of the scarcest tutoring subjects in the market. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, stating that combined classes are strictly prohibited because the curriculum expectations and language of instruction differ, so support has to match the stream the student actually sits. KHDA also requires that teachers of Arabic and Islamic Education in schools hold appropriate approval to teach those subjects.

The table below states our coverage honestly, including the rows where the answer is sometimes no. No competitor in the researched set discloses a coverage limit anywhere, which is why the final column exists.

Five subjects at grade E: what actually counts

If a UAE university or an attested certificate is anywhere in the plan, the Ministry of Education's equivalency rules decide which grades matter, and they do not match the intuition that all passes are equal.

The published British-track requirement is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus either one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. The detail that catches families is which subjects count: Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. Both are mandatory in Dubai private schools under KHDA requirements, and neither counts here.

So a student holding five passes of which two are Arabic and Islamic education does not have five for this purpose. That is worth checking against an option form in Year 9 rather than against a results slip in Year 11, and it is a reason to think about tutoring spend subject by subject rather than in general. One competitor page currently ranking for UAE IGCSE queries states that candidates must take six subjects; that is not what the published rule says.

For comparison, the American track requires English proficiency of a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and mathematics requires at least 450 in SAT Math before applying. For the IB, no points threshold has been verified from an official Ministry source, so we publish none and you should ask anybody who quotes you one where they read it. IB Gram does not perform, process or guarantee equivalency, and no provider should imply tutoring is required for it.

Board and syllabus code, per subject, before anything else

  • One email to the school office returns every board and code
  • Cambridge four-digit codes versus Pearson 4-prefixed codes
  • Schools mix boards across departments routinely
  • Pearson modular entries change when a result can be banked

Whatever the subject, the first practical step is the same and it is free. Email the school office and ask for the exam board and syllabus code for each subject your child takes. One message returns all of them.

You are looking for either a Cambridge four-digit number — 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology, 0450 Business Studies, 0455 Economics, 0478 Computer Science — or a Pearson code such as 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1 or 4BI1. Dubai schools are not obliged to use one board across the curriculum and plenty do not, so a household can genuinely have maths on Pearson and sciences on Cambridge without anybody mentioning it.

Why it matters is paper structure. The content overlaps heavily between boards; tiering, paper pairing, formula provision, practical assessment route and the command-term vocabulary each board favours do not. A term of the wrong board's past papers teaches real and correct material while training the wrong instincts about what a question is asking for, and it is invisible until the real paper arrives. Pearson also offers modular assessment in some subjects, which changes when a result can be banked and therefore changes the whole planning picture.

Bring the codes to any tutoring conversation. A specialist will tell you immediately which specification they teach; a generalist will talk about the subject in general and move on. That is the fastest filter available, and it costs one email to obtain. Keep the reply, because you will use the same codes again when the November entry question comes up.

04

The June series, November as a route, and the series that is not ours

Start with the series that does not exist here, because a family with several weak subjects is the family most likely to be sold it. Cambridge's February/March series is offered to India only. In the UAE a candidate sits the June series and the November series, and there is no third date to spread subjects across. Anyone who has told you a March resit is available in Dubai is describing another country's provision, sometimes honestly, having moved from a school in India, and sometimes because a tutor would like the autumn booked without the June deadline doing the arguing. Either way the consequence is identical: a subject parked for March is a subject parked for a year.

The two series that do exist are June and November, covering Cambridge International GCSE and O Level, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October lower down the school. For a child entered in eight or nine subjects the shape of those weeks is the whole plan, and it is not a national document. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for the zone, and says it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. With nine subjects there are enough papers that one misread date is close to inevitable if the wrong version is the one circulating at home. Ask the school office which zone the centre sits in and work from the version it gives you, never from a timetable found by search.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. For how the November route times out: the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and November results reach students in January — the November 2025 results landed on 22 January 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables well ahead of each series, so always work from the live official PDF rather than any date restated on a tutoring site.

For a Town Square family with a thin subject, the November route is strategically useful rather than a consolation. If nobody can tutor Business Studies before June, entering it in November and using the summer for a secured fixed-scope block is a better plan than a diluted spring across five subjects. A January result still updates post-16 applications.

05

What to do when a subject genuinely cannot be covered

  • We decline rather than substitute a generalist in an exam year
  • Reprioritise, re-enter in November, lean on the school, or narrow the brief
  • Ask the department for specific support rather than general help — it is free
  • There is no in-home fallback at any price in the UAE

This is the section the market does not write, and it matters more than another description of how committed everybody is. Sometimes the answer is that no specialist is available, and a family deserves to hear it early enough to act.

Our sequence is this. If a specialist is free, we propose them and you take a free trial lesson with that person, no card required. If the only available specialist works from another time zone, we say so and offer the slots that genuinely exist. If nobody suitable is free, we say that too, and we will not substitute a general tutor for a subject specialist in an exam year — we would rather lose the enquiry, and we have.

What a family can do instead is usually one of four things. Reprioritise: concentrate the tutoring budget on a well-covered subject where a grade can move, and accept that the thin subject rests on the school. Re-enter: plan the thin subject for the November series with a secured block over the summer. Lean on the school: ask the department directly for additional support, which is free and frequently available if asked specifically rather than generally. Or narrow the brief: in Computer Science theory, for instance, hand-traced algorithms and pseudocode conventions are a narrow enough target that a non-specialist maths tutor can genuinely help, where the full syllabus would be beyond them.

What we will never offer as a fallback is a UAE home visit, because there is no UAE visiting service to fall back on. IB Gram has no office, centre or branch in the UAE and nobody on our roster will arrive at a Town Square address.

06

Is the tutor you find permitted to teach in the UAE?

A near-me search puts you in front of community noticeboards, building WhatsApp groups and classified listings, which is precisely where the licensing question gets skipped, and most parents have never been told there is one to ask. Private tuition in the UAE is a permitted activity rather than an unregulated one. The permit was created by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 Regarding the Introduction of Private Tuition Work Permits, it is issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and it is granted free of charge for two years. The process itself sits on MoHRE's own service, Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, applied for through its smart app, website or e-services, with a stated completion time of two working days.

Because it costs nothing and takes two working days, lacking one is a choice rather than an obstacle. Eligibility is wide: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. MoHRE states that individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, and Khaleej Times reported that the ministry did not specify the amounts, so disregard any figure circulating informally.

The permit's code of conduct bars a tutor from serving students affiliated with their own school, and press reporting on ADEK's professional-ethics rules describes the same prohibition for Abu Dhabi school staff. This is particularly relevant for the thin subjects, because the obvious local answer in a scarce subject is the school's own teacher, and that is exactly the arrangement the rules exclude.

There are two different licences behind the two things a near-me search returns, and conflating them is how a parent ends up reassured by the wrong document. An individual tutor needs the MoHRE permit. A business running tutoring from premises anywhere in Dubai, whether that is the small centre above the shops or the study club advertising in a community hall, needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit as a training institute, and KHDA asks for annual renewal to be requested at least thirty days before expiry, so a centre showing you a lapsed one has told you something useful. For our own part, IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson approval, accreditation or partnership, claims none, and has no UAE office or centre, which is why nothing on this page invites you to visit one.

07

What IGCSE tutoring costs, and what scarcity does to it

Read the published Dubai bands, all taken from provider pages in October 2026, by what each one can actually cover rather than by price order. Budget online tutoring from AED 33-65 an hour, with Tutopiya at AED 33-52 and EdFlik at AED 45-65, buys supervised practice in one subject the tutor already knows well, and covering four subjects at that band usually means finding four different people. Qualified online subject tutors at AED 150-300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150, is the band at which one tutor can plausibly hold two related subjects. Specialist IGCSE, IB and A Level tutors run AED 200-450 and above, with TutorChase at AED 270 and Bestimate putting the band at AED 200-450 plus, while BartyED publishes AED 650 at the premium end, where you are buying one subject properly rather than breadth. In-home visits are AED 180-500 including travel, and the travel is charged once whether the session covers one subject or three, which is the only argument for the format that survives contact with a Town Square timetable.

Scarcity affects price less than parents expect and availability far more. A Business Studies specialist does not generally charge double a maths specialist; they are simply harder to find and may not be free when you need them. That makes timing the real cost in a thin subject: a block secured in Year 10 is available, and the same request in February of Year 11 may not be fillable at any price.

The monthly numbers are where a multi-subject plan either works or quietly does not. Bestimate estimates AED 240-600 a month for one weekly hour at the budget band, AED 600-1,200 mid-tier, and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year work. The figure a parent searching for an IGCSE tutor near Town Square actually faces is that band multiplied by the number of subjects in trouble, which is rarely one: three weak subjects at the mid-tier band is AED 1,800-3,600 a month, not AED 600-1,200. Packaged offers compress it a little, at around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 for four in-home two-hour visits. Eight sessions spread across three subjects is under three hours per subject per month, which is a maintenance rate rather than a repair rate.

Each figure belongs to the provider named beside it. None is an IB Gram price — we publish no rate card on these pages, because the honest number depends on subject, board, tier and weeks remaining. Take the free trial lesson and get a quote after the diagnostic.

What we do not claim

  • No grade or improvement guarantees, and no equivalency urgency claims
  • No statistics without n, date and method — so none published
  • No past papers or mark schemes hosted; official sources linked
  • No regulator claims, no UAE office, no home visits, no implied school partnerships

Some things are absent from this page deliberately, and each is something a competitor in this search result does carry.

No guarantee of a grade or an improvement in any subject, and no suggestion that tutoring is required for Ministry of Education equivalency, university admission or school progression. That last one is a false-urgency claim about a regulatory process, and it is worth noticing whenever anybody makes it to you.

No statistics without a sample size, a date and a method, which in practice means none. No average grades achieved by students we have taught, no percentage improved, no satisfaction figure, no self-generated star rating. Competitors publish such numbers routinely, occasionally in two conflicting versions on the same page, and almost never state how any of them was produced.

No awarding-body material hosted or sold: past papers, mark schemes, syllabus documents and grade-boundary tables belong to Cambridge and Pearson, and we cite and link them instead. No regulator or awarding-body approval claimed, no UAE office or address, no examiner descriptions we cannot evidence, and no home visits anywhere in the UAE at any price. And no school named here as a partner or client — the lists above describe the landscape around Town Square, which is why a disclaimer sits under every one of them. Several competitors list twenty-five or more schools under a trusted-by heading with no relationship behind any of them, and one lists a school that appears not to exist at all.

We also publish no specific exam dates beyond naming the series. Awarding bodies revise timetables, Cambridge allocates centres to administrative zones with different versions of the same timetable, and a date restated on a tutoring page is the version a family should trust least of all the versions available to them.

Where we tutor

Town Square and the communities on this corridor

All of these share the same supply picture: well covered for maths and science, thin for the rest, and far enough from the older school corridors that distance filters the market further.

Town Square

A Nshama community off Al Qudra Road, mostly apartments and townhouses with a young population. Far enough out that a tutor's willingness to travel filters the available pool before subject expertise is even considered.

Mudon

The nearest Dubai Properties community, weighted towards Years 7 to 9. The best point on this corridor to secure a thin-subject tutor, because availability does not improve later.

Remraam

Apartment community served by South View School, with the shortest school run on this stretch and therefore the widest usable afternoon for a weekday session.

Serena

A quiet townhouse community with the same geography and the same subject-by-subject supply asymmetry as Town Square.

Arabian Ranches 3

Nearest established community towards Emirates Road, sharing the school pool and a slightly older parent network that Town Square families often draw recommendations from.

DAMAC Hills 2

Further along Al Qudra Road and villa-weighted. Identical supply picture for the thin subjects, because the scarcity is citywide rather than local.

The Sustainable City

Home to Fairgreen International School. A short run from Town Square, and the nearest school running the IB continuum alongside the UK-curriculum options nearby.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the subject list with boards and codes

All of them, not just the subject you are worried about, because the coverage picture differs sharply by subject and the sensible plan may involve a different one. One email to the school office returns every board and syllabus code.

  2. 02

We tell you the coverage position honestly

Which of your subjects we can match quickly, which depend on a specialist being free this term, and which we cannot cover at all. That conversation happens before any diagnostic, because it changes what is worth diagnosing.

  3. 03

Diagnostic on the correct board's paper

For the subjects we are taking on, the student works real questions from the specification and tier actually entered while a specialist watches. The gap that emerges is usually narrower than the school report implies.

  4. 04

Free trial lesson with the proposed specialist

One full lesson with the tutor who would continue, no card required and no obligation, at the time you intend to keep. If the explanation style does not suit your child, nothing has been spent and we propose somebody else.

  5. 05

Scope, dates and an honest stop

For a thin subject the block has dates agreed up front, because availability shifts between terms. For a core subject the slot is weekly and fixed. Either way progress is reported against specification objectives, and a block ends when its scope is covered.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

We publish the coverage asymmetry

Maths and the sciences are deeply covered in Dubai; Business Studies, Economics, Computer Science theory and the Arabic routes are not. No competitor in the researched set discloses a coverage limit anywhere, which is why families spend weeks discovering it.

Timing is the real cost in a thin subject

A Business Studies specialist does not charge double; they are harder to find and may not be free when you need them. A block secured in Year 10 exists; the same request in February of Year 11 may not be fillable at any price.

The equivalency five, stated correctly

Five IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from the count. One ranking competitor states six are required. Checking an option form in Year 9 beats checking a results slip in Year 11.

Matched by syllabus code, per subject

Dubai schools mix Cambridge and Pearson across departments, and a term of the wrong board's past papers trains the wrong instincts invisibly. We ask for the code before proposing anybody, for every subject.

We say what to do when we cannot help

Reprioritise onto a covered subject, re-enter in November with a secured block, ask the department for specific support, or narrow the brief to a part a non-specialist can genuinely teach. Four real options rather than a holding pattern.

AED figures attributed, no guarantees made

Every rate names the provider that published it and the month it was read, and none is an IB Gram price. No promised grades, no claimed regulator approval, no hosted past papers, no UAE home visits, no implied school partnerships.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Town Square: your questions answered

Which IGCSE subjects are hardest to find a tutor for near Town Square?+

Business Studies, Economics, Computer Science theory and both Arabic routes. Dubai's tutoring market grew around maths and the three sciences, where demand concentrates and qualified supply followed, so those are deep and reliable to match. The rest are thinner, and in some terms a specific combination cannot be covered by anybody. That asymmetry is not published anywhere, which is why families spend weeks discovering it rather than planning around it from the start.

Why is Arabic so hard to get tutoring for when every Dubai school teaches it?+

Because mandatory does not mean well supplied. Arabic is required in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, and KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, stating combined classes are strictly prohibited because curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ. So any support must match the stream the student actually sits, which narrows an already small tutoring pool. KHDA also requires school teachers of Arabic to hold appropriate approval to teach it.

Does Arabic count towards the five subjects for MoE equivalency?+

No, and neither does Islamic education. The published British-track rule requires five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and Arabic and Islamic education are not included among those five. Both are mandatory school subjects in Dubai and neither counts here, so a student with five passes of which two are Arabic and Islamic education does not have five for this purpose. Check an option form in Year 9 rather than a results slip in Year 11.

How many IGCSE subjects does the Ministry actually require?+

Five, plus an Advanced Level component. The published British-track requirement is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, together with either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. One competitor page currently ranking for UAE IGCSE queries states six subjects are required, which is not what the published rule says. Verify the current position on moe.gov.ae; IB Gram does not process equivalency.

What do I ask the school before looking for a tutor?+

The exam board and syllabus code for each subject. One email returns all of them. You are looking for Cambridge four-digit codes — 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology, 0450 Business Studies, 0455 Economics, 0478 Computer Science — or Pearson codes such as 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1 and 4BI1. Ask per subject rather than assuming one answer covers everything, because Dubai departments make independent board decisions and a household can genuinely be split across both.

Does a thin subject cost more to tutor?+

Generally no, and that surprises people. A Business Studies specialist does not charge double a maths specialist; the published Dubai bands apply to both, with qualified online subject tutors at AED 150-300 an hour and specialists at AED 200-450 and above. Scarcity shows up as availability rather than as price. The practical consequence is that timing is the real cost: a block secured in Year 10 exists, and the same request in February of Year 11 may not be fillable at any price.

What should we do if nobody can tutor my child's subject?+

Four things, in roughly this order. Reprioritise the budget onto a well-covered subject where a grade can still move. Plan the thin subject for the November series and secure a narrow block over the summer. Ask the school department directly for additional support, specifically rather than generally, because it is free and often available when asked properly. Or narrow the brief: hand-traced algorithms and pseudocode conventions, for instance, are a target a strong maths tutor can genuinely cover even without the full Computer Science syllabus.

Will you substitute a general tutor if no specialist is free?+

Not in an exam year. If a matching specialist is free we propose them and you take a free trial lesson with that person. If the only one available works from another time zone, we say so and offer the slots that genuinely exist. If nobody suitable is free, we say that and decline rather than putting a generalist in front of a Year 11 candidate. We have lost enquiries doing it, which is the only reason the commitment is worth stating.

Is it harder to find a tutor in Town Square than in older parts of Dubai?+

Yes, for two compounding reasons. Dubai's tutoring supply clusters around the older school corridors — Jumeirah, Al Barsha, Mirdif, the Greens — rather than the newer Dubailand communities, so the subset willing to work out along Al Qudra Road is already smaller. And Town Square is a recently populated Nshama development, so the informal parent network that recommends tutors elsewhere is still thin. Online matching removes the first constraint entirely, which is why we work that way.

Can my child resit a subject in the February or March series?+

Not in the UAE. Cambridge's February/March series is offered to India only, and UAE candidates sit the June and November series. The belief circulates widely here and planning around it costs a term, so confirm with your school. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. For a thin subject the November route is genuinely strategic rather than a consolation: enter it in November, secure a narrow block over the summer, and the January result still updates post-16 applications.

When do November IGCSE results arrive?+

In January. Pearson's November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and November results reach students in January; the November 2025 results landed on 22 January 2026. For context, June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026. Schools are used to receiving updated grades in January and post-16 applications can be amended then. Always work from the awarding body's live official timetable rather than dates restated on any tutoring site.

Does my child's tutor need a UAE permit?+

Yes. Any individual charging for private tuition in the UAE needs a MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years, with MoHRE listing a two-working-day completion time through its smart app, website or e-services. Eligibility covers school and sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged 15 to 18. Since it costs nothing and takes two days, lacking one is a choice. MoHRE states tutoring without one attracts fines and penalties; no amounts are published.

Can we ask my child's own teacher to tutor them privately?+

No, and this bites hardest in exactly the scarce subjects where it would be most tempting. The MoHRE permit's code of conduct bars a tutor from serving students affiliated with their own school, and press reporting on Abu Dhabi's ADEK professional-ethics rules describes the same prohibition for school staff there. What you can do instead is ask the department for additional support within school — specifically, naming the topic rather than asking generally — which is free and frequently available if requested properly.

Which schools near Town Square offer the broader IGCSE option blocks?+

The larger secondary schools in Motor City, The Villa and Dubai Sports City generally carry the wider option lists that include Business Studies, Economics and Computer Science: GEMS Metropole, GEMS FirstPoint, GEMS United, Safa Community School, Dubai Heights Academy. The nearer schools on short runs from Town Square — South View School, The Aquila School, Jebel Ali School, Ranches Primary, JESS Arabian Ranches, Fairgreen International School — vary. We name these as context and have no affiliation with any of them.

Will an IGCSE tutor visit our home in Town Square?+

Not one of ours. IB Gram delivers IGCSE tuition to Town Square one-to-one over live video and makes no home visits anywhere in the UAE — in-home tutoring is a service we run in India only, and there is no UAE visiting arrangement at any price. Other Dubai providers do visit, at published rates of AED 180-500 an hour including travel. Worth noting that in-home delivery narrows the available pool further before subject expertise is even considered, which matters most in exactly the thin subjects.
