IB Home Tutor in Town Square

An IB home tutor in Town Square is harder to find than the search volume suggests, and the reason is not that nobody tutors in Dubailand. It is that a Diploma subject at a named level is a narrow specialism, and Town Square is a young apartment and townhouse community a long way from where Dubai's tutors cluster. IB Gram answers that with specialists teaching one-to-one over live video.

  • Specialist chosen by subject and level, never by driving distance

IB & IGCSE in Town Square

Is there an IB tutor near Town Square who knows the course?

Town Square is a Nshama community off Al Qudra Road, built out recently and populated largely by younger families in apartments and townhouses rather than by the long-established villa households of inner Dubai. It is a good place to live and a difficult place to find a Diploma specialist, because those two facts are connected. Dubai's professional tutoring supply grew up around the oldest international schools — Jumeirah, Al Barsha, Mirdif, the Greens — and the Dubailand corridor filled with residents faster than it filled with tutors.

There is a second constraint most parents never hear about. The people genuinely qualified to teach a named Diploma course to final grade are mostly serving school teachers, and both the MoHRE private tuition permit's code of conduct and, in Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar a teacher from paid tutoring of students enrolled at their own school. So the obvious local answer — your child's own teacher, privately — is not available, and any provider offering it is telling you something about itself.

The third constraint is the apartment. Home tutoring assumes a spare room with a door, and in a Town Square two or three bedroom apartment the realistic venue is the dining table with the rest of the household around it. Parents rarely raise this in advance and frequently discover it in week two. It is one of the quieter reasons online delivery suits this community: a laptop and a pair of headphones in a bedroom is more private than a stranger at the kitchen table.

IB Gram's model follows from all three. Lessons for Town Square families are delivered one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; in-home visiting is a service we run only in India. That means the pool your child is matched from is defined by which course a tutor has actually taught rather than by who will drive down Al Qudra Road at six in the evening.

This page does not skip the home-tutoring question, though. You will find what the Dubai market genuinely charges for a visit versus an online session, attributed to the providers who published those figures. You will find how the private-tutor permit works and how to check one. You will find who regulates what across the UAE, because the five emirate regulators are named by almost nobody in this search result. And you will find what happens when no specialist is free, which is a thing providers prefer not to describe.

KHDA reported 387,441 pupils across Dubai's 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering seventeen different curricula, with the International Baccalaureate at 7% of enrolment. Dubai is also adding seven new private schools for 2026-27 — four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate — creating 16,846 new places. The Diploma population is growing. The local specialist supply in a community like Town Square is not growing at the same rate, which is the gap this page is about.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

IB Gram covers the full IB continuum for Town Square families, and what a Primary Years pupil needs shares almost nothing with what a Diploma candidate needs. Here is what each programme asks and the part that bites in a Dubai school year.

PYPAges 3-12 · Foundation to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Organised around transdisciplinary units of inquiry and assessed continuously by the class teacher against learning outcomes rather than by examination. Children document thinking in portfolios and finish Year 6 with the PYP Exhibition, a self-directed inquiry presented to the school community. The real outputs are reading fluency, number sense and written explanation.

Town Square has a young population, so PYP enquiries outnumber Diploma ones here. The commonest issue is a child arriving mid-primary from another system who computes quickly and is marked down because the task wanted a method explained. That is a mismatch of expectation rather than ability, and it is cheap to fix at this age.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Every subject marked against four criteria, each 0-8, differing by subject group. Sciences mark knowing and understanding, inquiring and designing, processing and evaluating, and reflecting on the impacts of science. Year 11 adds the Personal Project with its own criteria. Reports show criterion profiles rather than a single grade.

Town Square families often meet the MYP after a move from a British or Indian curriculum school, and the four-letter report is the first shock. A profile of 7, 4, 5, 3 is an instruction rather than a middling result, and reading it properly usually identifies one transferable skill dragging several subjects at once.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three Higher Level and three Standard, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject carries an Internal Assessment marked internally and moderated by the IB. The total runs to 45 including up to three bonus points from the TOK and Extended Essay matrix. UAE schools sit the May session.

Diploma students from Town Square are usually travelling a considerable distance to school, because the community's own provision is primary-weighted and IB Diploma schools sit further in. That commute is one of the reasons we work online: it has already taken an hour out of the day before any tutoring is considered.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

At least two DP courses paired with a career-related study, a reflective project, service learning, personal and professional skills and a language requirement. A route for a student who wants Diploma-standard academic subjects with an applied direction rather than the full six-subject load.

Few Dubai schools offer the CP, so Town Square families typically meet it as a mid-sixth-form option rather than a Year 11 choice. The DP courses inside a CP are marked to the same standard as any Diploma candidate's, so the tutoring requirement for those subjects is identical.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IB subjects Town Square families request most, with the part that actually costs marks. Availability varies by level and term, and the trial lesson is where the match is confirmed rather than promised.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebra carries this course. Marks disappear in proof, in HL calculus applications and in unstructured Paper 2 questions with no scaffold indicating a technique. The Exploration is a fifth of the grade and fails more often on absent personal engagement than on weak mathematics.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and confident calculator work. The common error is choosing it as the lighter option and then meeting regression and hypothesis testing without statistical vocabulary. HL adds matrices, graph theory and complex numbers.

Physics

HL and SL

Loose definitions cost marks on the short-answer paper, and unshown working costs them on the structured paper. Uncertainty propagation and graph linearisation are the recurring gaps, and the HL practical paper is met late in most schools.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic mechanisms and energetics are the two walls, with moles underneath both. Reciting reagents is not explaining why a nucleophile attacks where it does, and sign conventions quietly destroy otherwise sound thermodynamics answers.

Biology

HL and SL

Volume of content is the trap rather than difficulty. Command terms decide the mark, and a knowledgeable student answering discuss with a list of facts scores low. Statistical treatment in the investigation is routinely thin.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams must be drawn, labelled and then used in the prose rather than placed beside it. Commentaries are assessed on application to a named real article, so the article choice sets the ceiling before any analysis is written.

Business Management

HL and SL

Frameworks score nothing alone; the marks sit in applying them to the case material and reaching a supported judgement. The HL research project needs a live organisation and a question narrow enough for the word limit.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 is unseen analysis under time pressure and most lost marks come from summarising rather than analysing how meaning is produced. The Individual Oral needs a real global issue and two works properly prepared.

Psychology

HL and SL

Every claim must be anchored in a named study with its method and findings; vague recall of a famous experiment scores little. The HL extensions and the experimental investigation with its inferential statistic reward structured support.

Computer Science

HL and SL

The written papers test architecture, networks and abstract data structures as much as code, and comfortable programmers still lose marks tracing algorithms by hand. The solution project needs a real client and documented success criteria.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

Assessed by the exhibition of three objects and the prescribed-title essay, feeding the three bonus points with the Extended Essay. The essay fails when it becomes general opinion rather than claim and counterclaim grounded in areas of knowledge.

Extended Essay supervision support

Core

Four thousand words of independent research against five criteria. The research question decides most of the grade. A tutor coaches question, method and reflection; the writing remains entirely the student's own.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways a Town Square family works with us, all delivered online over live video. Which fits depends on how far away the next assessment is and whether the gap is knowledge or technique.

Weekly one-to-one, same tutor

A fixed slot each week with one specialist, following your child's school scheme of work rather than a generic syllabus order. The value compounds: by the third month the tutor knows which mistakes are habits, which deadline is quietly being avoided, and which subject the school report overstates.

  • Sixty or ninety minutes weekly, set after the trial lesson
  • Fixed in Gulf Standard Time, typically between 4:30pm and 9pm
  • Works from your child's own deadlines and assessment calendar
  • Rescheduling handled with the tutor directly, not through a queue

Pre-assessment intensive block

Short, dense runs before mocks or the May session. Two or three hours a week across six to ten weeks, built around past-paper technique and whichever topics a diagnostic shows are weak. Right for a student whose understanding is sound and whose output is not; wrong for one missing a year of foundations.

  • Diagnostic on real past-paper questions before the plan is written
  • Two or three sessions a week for six to ten weeks
  • Timed practice marked against the published criteria
  • Scales back to weekly once the gap closes

Internal Assessment and Extended Essay coaching

Process support on the coursework that decides so much of a Diploma score. The tutor helps shape a workable research question, checks the method can produce usable data, reads a draft against the criteria and explains what each criterion asks for. Every word submitted is written by the student.

  • Research question narrowed until it is answerable in the word limit
  • Method reviewed for measurable variables and sufficient repeats
  • Feedback mapped to the criteria and their mark allocations
  • No drafting, no ghost-writing, no editing to a finish

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Town Square

01

What a home tutor actually means in a Town Square apartment

  • In-home tutoring assumes a private room most Town Square apartments do not have
  • The dining-table session costs concentration on both sides and nobody raises it
  • A closed bedroom door plus headphones is more private than a visitor
  • In-home still wins for young children who cannot self-manage

This is the part of the home-tutoring question nobody writes about, and in a community built mainly of apartments and townhouses it deserves to be first. A home tutor needs a working space. In a three-bedroom villa that is a study with a door. In a Town Square two-bedroom apartment it is the dining table, with a younger sibling in the next room, a television somewhere and the ordinary noise of a household at six in the evening.

Families discover this in week two rather than week zero. The tutor is competent, the student is willing, and the session is being conducted in the busiest room in the home while everyone else tiptoes around it. Concentration suffers on both sides, and nobody says anything because the arrangement was expensive and the problem feels petty.

An online session inverts that geometry. The student takes a laptop and headphones into a bedroom, closes the door, and has a genuinely private hour. Nobody else in the household has to adjust their evening. For a Diploma student working through a Chemistry past paper or talking through an Extended Essay research question, privacy is not a luxury: it is the difference between admitting what they do not understand and pretending they do.

None of which means in-home tutoring is bad. For a younger child who cannot self-regulate, a person physically present who can take a phone off the table is worth real money, and any page claiming otherwise is selling rather than advising. But the trade-off in Town Square specifically is sharper than in a villa community, and it is worth knowing before you pay a travel premium for a tutor to sit at your dining table.

02

Counting the specialist supply honestly

Replace the feeling of scarcity with structure and the decision becomes easier. Dubai had 387,441 private-school pupils in 2024-25 across 227 schools, with the IB at roughly 7% of enrolment. That is a substantial Diploma population, spread across the whole emirate, and only its final two years sit the Diploma at all. Narrow to one subject at one level and the citywide cohort is small; narrow to Town Square and it is very small.

The tutor side narrows faster than the student side. Somebody qualified to teach, say, Physics Higher Level to final grade is typically a current Diploma teacher at a Dubai school, a former one, or a graduate who has trained specifically on the course. Current school teachers are the largest group and the most constrained, because the MoHRE permit's code of conduct bars serving students affiliated with their own school and press reporting on ADEK's professional-ethics rules describes the same prohibition in Abu Dhabi.

Then geography removes most of the remainder. A tutor based in Al Barsha or Jumeirah will work locally before driving to Al Qudra Road, and the ones who will make that drive price the journey into the rate. What is left, for a named Higher Level subject on a specific weekday evening, is frequently nobody.

The table below describes the shape of that scarcity rather than claiming a census. The figures are estimates of structure, and the point is the pattern: for broad early-years support, local supply is adequate; for a named Diploma subject at Higher Level, it collapses. That collapse is the entire argument for matching online.

LOCAL VERSUS CITY-WIDE SPECIALIST SUPPLY, TOWN SQUARE

03

Who regulates what, and who regulates tutors

This is published by almost nobody in this search result, and it is the context that makes every other claim checkable. Private schools in the UAE are regulated by the emirate, not federally, and there are five bodies rather than one.

In Dubai, which covers every school a Town Square family uses, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. In Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the Department of Education and Knowledge supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools. In Sharjah, the Sharjah Private Education Authority regulates private education. In Ras Al Khaimah, the Department of Knowledge does. And the Ministry of Education plays a pivotal role in supervising private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. Sharjah's and Ras Al Khaimah's authorities also approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods — so curriculum approval, not only inspection, sits at emirate level there.

What matters for tutoring is that none of those bodies regulates private tutors. That sits with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, through the private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. An organisation running tutoring from premises in Dubai is a different legal animal and needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry.

So the common market phrase describing a tutor as approved by KHDA points at nothing that exists. IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE, MoHRE, IB or Cambridge approval, accreditation, licence or partnership, has no office or centre in the UAE, and claims none. The table sets out the map so you can test any claim anyone makes to you.

04

What the market charges, and what the travel premium buys

Start with what the extra money buys rather than with the rate card, because that is the question a Town Square family is actually asking. The gap between an online qualified tutor and an in-home visit is roughly AED 30-200 an hour depending on where you look, and it is worth knowing precisely what sits inside that gap.

It buys physical presence. Somebody in the room who notices attention drifting, takes a phone off the table and holds the authority a screen cannot. For a nine-year-old that is genuinely valuable. It also buys, for a community as far out as Town Square, a driver's time: a tutor coming from Al Barsha or Jumeirah is spending seventy to ninety minutes on the road for a single session, and that time is being paid for whether the invoice itemises it or not. What it does not buy is more subject expertise. Expertise correlates with who has taught the course, not with who lives within reach.

The published Dubai numbers, read from provider pages in October 2026: budget online tutoring from AED 33-65 an hour, with Tutopiya at AED 33-52 and EdFlik at AED 45-65. Qualified online subject tutors AED 150-300, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200. IB, IGCSE and A Level specialists AED 200-450 and above, with TutorChase at AED 270 and Bestimate putting the band at AED 200-450 plus. In-home one-to-one AED 180-500 including travel, per Bestimate and UAE listings. Premium named tutors AED 500-650 and above, with BartyED publishing AED 650.

Every figure belongs to the organisation named beside it. None is an IB Gram price — we publish no rate card on these pages, because the honest number depends on subject, level and weeks remaining. Take the free trial lesson and get a quote from the consultation.

Is a visiting tutor legally permitted to teach in the UAE?

  • MoHRE private tuition work permit: free of charge, valid two years, two working days to issue
  • Eligible: school and sector employees, unemployed residents, university students, students aged 15-18
  • Ask to see it and verify through MoHRE's e-services
  • No fine amounts are published — ignore any figure circulating informally

Most parents in Dubai have never been told this is a regulated activity, and the people who benefit from that silence are the ones operating without a permit. Private tuition in the UAE sits under a work-permit regime introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 Regarding the Introduction of Private Tuition Work Permits. The permit is issued by MoHRE, is granted free of charge for two years, and the official route is MoHRE's own service, Issuance of a New Work Permit — Private Tutor Licensing, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system with a stated two-working-day completion time.

Because it costs nothing and takes two working days, there is no legitimate reason for any tutor to lack one. Eligibility is broader than parents expect: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. So a university student tutoring your Year 9 child can hold a perfectly valid permit — the question is only whether they do.

MoHRE states that individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published. Khaleej Times reported that the ministry did not specify the fine amounts or detail the penalties, so a figure circulating informally as a specific dirham amount should be disregarded; we are not going to repeat an unverified number.

The code of conduct attached to the permit bars a tutor from serving students affiliated with their own school, which is the point worth repeating because it closes off the option families most want. If a provider offers you your child's own classroom teacher privately, that is information about the provider rather than a convenience.

06

What a tutor may and may not do with Diploma coursework

  • Permitted: teaching content, explaining criteria, coaching a question, reviewing method, feedback on the student's own draft
  • Not permitted: writing, drafting, rewriting, templating or editing coursework to a finish
  • No past papers or mark schemes supplied as downloads — official sources linked
  • A provider selling a completed IA is selling the student a malpractice finding

This has to be stated plainly on a UAE IB page, because the search results for Dubai IB help contain operators who sell finished coursework. One advertises completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750. Buying one is not a shortcut with a price attached; it is an academic-honesty breach, and the IB withdraws awards for malpractice.

The permitted ground is wide and genuinely useful. A tutor may teach the content the assessment rests on. They may explain what each criterion asks for and what marks it carries. They may help narrow a research question until it is answerable within the word limit. They may review a method and say that it will not generate usable data. They may read a draft the student has written and give feedback on it. All of that is ordinary teaching and all of it is permitted.

What a tutor may not do is produce the work. Not write a section. Not supply a paragraph to insert. Not rewrite the student's prose into their own. Not provide a template needing only numbers. Not edit a draft to a finish so that the submitted text is substantially theirs. The student signs a declaration that the work is their own and the supervisor signs alongside them, so this is a practical line rather than a procedural one.

We also do not supply IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables or subject guides as downloads. Those are the awarding bodies' copyright, and for unreleased material there is a malpractice exposure as well. We reference them, cite the official source and teach from them, which is lawful and more useful than a folder of files.

07

When no specialist is free for your subject

No provider covers every IB subject at every level in every term, and the ones implying otherwise are the ones to distrust. Theory of Knowledge at short notice, Higher Level Computer Science, smaller Group 2 languages, Music and Film are genuinely scarce, and a Town Square family asking in March deserves a straight answer rather than a holding pattern.

So here is ours. If a matching specialist is free, we propose them and you take a free trial lesson with that person, not with a salesperson and not with a different tutor. If the only available specialist works from another time zone, we say so and offer the slots that genuinely exist, which for most of our roster means early morning or evening in Gulf Standard Time. If nobody suitable is free at all, we say that too, and we would rather lose the enquiry than put a general tutor in front of a Higher Level candidate eight weeks before a session.

There is one substitution we will never make, and it is worth stating because the market does make it. We do not offer a UAE home visit as a fallback when the online match is hard, because there is no UAE visiting service to fall back on. IB Gram has no office, centre or branch in the UAE, and nobody on our roster will arrive at a Town Square address. Everything delivered here is one-to-one over live video.

If the match turns out wrong after it starts, say so early. A mismatch between a competent tutor and a particular student is common and is nobody's failure — pace, explanation style and personality matter more than credentials once basic competence is established. Tell us in the first fortnight and we rematch.

What is deliberately missing from this page

  • No unverified IB dates; the May session named, specifics from your school
  • No self-generated ratings and no statistics without n, date and method
  • No regulator claims, no UAE office, no home visits, no grade guarantees
  • No suggestion that tutoring is required for equivalency or admission

Several things that competitors in this search result do publish are absent here on purpose, and the omissions are worth naming.

There is no specific IB exam date. The IB's own site blocks automated retrieval, so no IB session or results date in this project has been confirmed from ibo.org, and we will not put an unverified date in front of a parent who will plan around it. UAE schools sit the May session; get exact dates from your school's IB coordinator or ibo.org. Cambridge and Pearson dates are published and we do use them: Cambridge runs June and November series with the February/March series offered to India only, and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November, with November results reaching students in January.

There is no star rating, no satisfaction percentage and no average score achieved by students we have supported. Competitors publish figures like 4.9 from several hundred reviews, sometimes in two conflicting versions on the same page, and none states a sample size, a date or a method. A number without those three is decoration, and self-asserted review markup is also against Google's structured-data policy.

There is no regulator claim, no UAE address, no examiner description we cannot evidence, and no grade guarantee. We also use no non-UAE phone number as the conversion path on a UAE page, which two ranking competitors do. And we will not imply that tutoring is required for Ministry of Education equivalency, university admission or school progression, because that is a false-urgency claim about a regulatory process.

Where we tutor

Town Square and the Dubailand communities around it

Town Square sits in a corridor of newer communities that share one feature relevant to tutoring: a young population, long school runs, and a tutoring supply that has not caught up. These are the neighbours.

Town Square

A Nshama development off Al Qudra Road, mostly apartments and townhouses with a young demographic. Secondary students travel out, and the lack of a spare study room is a real constraint on in-home tutoring here.

Mudon

The nearest Dubai Properties community, similarly weighted towards primary and lower-secondary families. Enquiries from Mudon tend to be readiness rather than rescue, which is the better point to start.

Remraam

Apartment community served by South View School, which gives it the shortest school run in this part of Dubailand and the widest usable afternoon.

Serena

A quiet townhouse community on the same stretch, with the same structure and the same absence of any local pool of Diploma specialists.

Arabian Ranches 3

The newest Ranches phase, closest established community towards Emirates Road. Collection runs earlier than from Town Square, which widens the evening by twenty minutes or so.

DAMAC Hills 2

Further along the Al Qudra corridor, villa-weighted rather than apartment-weighted, but facing the same scarcity of named-course specialists at Higher Level.

The Sustainable City

Home to Fairgreen International School, which runs the IB continuum and is the nearest IB provision to Town Square for many families here.

Where Town Square families go for a Diploma subject combination the nearer schools do not run. These are long runs, and a long run is exactly what makes a visiting tutor impractical on a school night.

  • Dubai International Academy, Al Barsha
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • GEMS Wellington Academy, Silicon Oasis
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • Hartland International School

Schools are named only to describe the education landscape around Town Square; IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the school, the subjects and the levels

Not just IB maths. Which school, which course, which level, and what the last report or mock actually said. Analysis and Approaches HL and Applications and Interpretation SL need different tutors, and the school's scheme of work sets the order topics are taught in.

  2. 02

    A diagnostic on real questions

Before a plan exists, the student works through past-paper questions at their own level while a specialist watches. That conversation surfaces the actual problem, which is usually narrower than the school report implies — a command term misread, a technique never taught, a topic missed during a move.

  3. 03

A free trial lesson with the tutor who would continue

Not a sales call and not a different person. The specialist proposed teaches a full session, no card required and no obligation, and you and the student judge the fit afterwards. If it is wrong, nothing has been spent and we propose somebody else.

  4. 04

A fixed weekly slot in Gulf Standard Time

Set around the school run, prayer times and family commitments. Most Town Square sessions settle between 4:30pm and 9pm, with younger students earlier and Diploma students often later. The slot stays put, because a moving slot is the main reason tutoring quietly stops.

  5. 05

Review against the criteria, not against a feeling

Every few weeks the tutor reports in terms of the published assessment criteria and the marks they carry: which criterion has moved, which paper technique is reliable, what is still weak. If progress stalls, that review is where the plan or the tutor changes.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched on the course, not the postcode

The constraint in Town Square was never distance; it was whether anybody nearby had taught your child's specific Diploma course. Online delivery removes distance entirely, so the match is made on subject, level and assessment experience.

A private hour, which an apartment rarely offers

In a community built mostly of apartments and townhouses, an in-home session usually happens at the dining table. A closed bedroom door and headphones gives a Diploma student the privacy to admit what they do not understand.

The regulator map published, not implied

Five bodies regulate private schools across the emirates and none of them regulates private tutors — that is MoHRE's permit. We publish the map so you can test any claim, including ours, rather than inheriting authority we do not hold.

Coverage limits stated before you commit

Where a subject is scarce we say so, and where nobody is free we decline rather than substituting a general tutor for a Higher Level specialist. No competitor in the researched set discloses a coverage limit at all.

AED figures with the publisher and the month

Three of six ranking competitors publish no price and two quote US dollars. Every rate here names the provider that published it and the month it was read, and none is presented as an IB Gram price.

The trial decides, not the brochure

A free trial lesson with the specialist who would actually teach your child tells you more in sixty minutes than any amount of copy. If the fit is wrong, you have spent nothing and we propose somebody else.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Town Square: your questions answered

Can I get an IB home tutor to come to our apartment in Town Square?+

Not from IB Gram. We deliver one-to-one IB tuition to Town Square online, over live video, and make no home visits anywhere in the UAE — in-home visiting is a service we run in India only. Other Dubai providers do visit, at published market rates of roughly AED 180-500 an hour including travel, and from Al Qudra Road a real share of that is the drive. There is also a practical point: in most Town Square apartments the only available venue is the dining table, which is rarely a good hour for either party.

Is online tutoring better than a home tutor for a Town Square apartment?+

For a Diploma student, usually yes, and the reason is privacy rather than technology. An in-home session in a two or three bedroom apartment happens in the busiest room of the home, with a sibling next door and the household adjusting around it. A student with a laptop and headphones behind a closed bedroom door has a genuinely private hour, which matters because admitting what you do not understand is easier without an audience. For a young child who cannot self-regulate, physical presence still wins.

Are there IB Diploma specialists living near Town Square?+

Some, and for primary or general MYP support the local pool is adequate. For a named Diploma subject at Higher Level it is frequently empty. The IB is roughly 7% of Dubai's 387,441 private-school pupils across 227 schools, spread across the whole emirate, and only the final two years sit the Diploma. Most qualified people are serving school teachers, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct bars tutoring students enrolled at their own school. Town Square is also a newer community where residential build-out outran tutoring supply.

Who regulates my child's school, and does anyone regulate tutors?+

Dubai private schools, including every school a Town Square family uses, come under KHDA, which is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate and inspects annually from Outstanding to Very Weak. Elsewhere it is ADEK in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, SPEA in Sharjah, the Department of Knowledge in Ras Al Khaimah, and the federal Ministry of Education for Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. None of them regulates private tutors — that is MoHRE permit territory — so a tutor described as holding regulator approval is describing nothing that exists.

How do I check a tutor is permitted to teach in the UAE?+

Ask for the permit and verify it with MoHRE. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's service page lists a two-working-day completion time through its smart app, website or e-services. Because it costs nothing and takes two days, there is no legitimate reason to lack one. Eligible applicants include school and sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE states tutoring without one attracts fines and penalties; no amounts are published.

Why can't we just hire my child's own teacher privately?+

Because the rules bar it. The MoHRE private tuition permit carries a code of conduct that prohibits serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school, and press reporting on Abu Dhabi's ADEK professional-ethics rules describes the same prohibition for private and charter school staff there. It is the option families most want and the one least available. A provider marketing your child's own teacher privately is telling you something about how carefully it reads the rules, which is worth knowing before anything else.

What does the in-home travel premium actually buy in Town Square?+

Two things, and not the third you might expect. It buys physical presence — somebody who notices attention drifting and can take a phone off the table — which is genuinely valuable for a younger child. And it buys a driver's time, because a tutor coming from Al Barsha or Jumeirah spends seventy to ninety minutes on the road for one session, paid for whether the invoice itemises it or not. What it does not buy is more subject expertise, which correlates with who has taught the course rather than who lives nearby.

What should a Town Square family expect to pay for IB tutoring?+

Published Dubai figures read in October 2026: budget online AED 33-65 an hour (Tutopiya, EdFlik), qualified online subject tutors AED 150-300 with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200, IB specialists AED 200-450 and above with TutorChase at AED 270, in-home visits AED 180-500 including travel, and BartyED at AED 650 premium. Advertised monthly packages include around AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 for four in-home two-hour visits. Those belong to the providers named, not to us; we quote after the free trial.

Which schools do Town Square children usually attend?+

On the shorter runs: South View School, Fairgreen International School in The Sustainable City, The Aquila School, Jebel Ali School, Ranches Primary School and JESS Arabian Ranches. For secondary, many travel to GEMS Metropole in Motor City, GEMS FirstPoint in The Villa, GEMS United in Dubai Sports City, Victory Heights Primary, Dunecrest American School or Safa Community School. For a specific Diploma combination, families go further to schools in Al Barsha and Silicon Oasis. We name these as context and have no affiliation with any of them.

What happens if you have no tutor for my child's subject?+

We say so. Theory of Knowledge at short notice, Higher Level Computer Science, smaller Group 2 languages, Music and Film are genuinely scarce, and in some terms we cannot cover them at all. In that case we decline rather than putting a general tutor in front of a Higher Level candidate, and we have lost enquiries doing it. If the only matching specialist works from another time zone, we say that too and offer the slots that actually exist. There is no in-home fallback, because no UAE visiting service exists to fall back on.

Can a tutor write part of my child's Internal Assessment or Extended Essay?+

No, and the boundary is easier to apply than parents fear. Permitted: teaching the underlying content, explaining what each criterion asks and what it is worth, helping narrow a research question until it is answerable, reviewing whether a method will produce usable data, and giving feedback on a draft your child has written. Not permitted: writing any part, supplying text to insert, rewriting the prose, or editing to a finish. Operators in this market sell completed Internal Assessments at around AED 3,750, which risks the student's entire Diploma.

Do you supply past papers and mark schemes to Town Square students?+

No, and the reason is copyright rather than reluctance. IB, Cambridge and Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables and subject guides belong to the awarding bodies, and reproducing them is infringement — for unreleased material there is a malpractice exposure as well. We reference them, cite the official source and teach from them. In practice that works better than a folder of files, because the value was never in possessing the paper; it was in having somebody mark the attempt properly.

When is the IB exam session for Town Square students?+

UAE schools sit the May session. We deliberately publish no specific IB date, because ibo.org blocks automated checking and we will not put an unverified exam date in front of a parent who will plan around it — get it from your school's IB coordinator or ibo.org directly. For Cambridge the position is published: International GCSE and O Level run in June and November series, and the February/March series is offered to India only, so UAE candidates sit June and November. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November.

Can lessons continue while we travel out of the UAE?+

Yes, and this is one of the real advantages of the model for Town Square families, many of whom travel during school breaks. Because the tutor's location is already part of the arrangement rather than an obstacle to it, a student can keep a weekly session running from another country with only the time of day adjusted. We reset the slot for the period rather than cancelling it, which matters most during a term carrying an Internal Assessment or Extended Essay deadline.

What if the trial lesson is fine but it stops working after a month?+

Tell us and we rematch. A mismatch between a capable tutor and a particular student can take a few sessions to surface, and it is nobody's failure — pace, explanation style and personality all matter more than credentials once basic competence is established. The first fortnight is the right time to say so, and a stalled review at the three-week mark is exactly where we would change the plan or the tutor. What not to do is spend a term hoping, which costs the money and the term together.

One hour with the right specialist, then decide

If you came looking for an IB home tutor in Town Square, you now have the honest picture: the local pool of Diploma specialists is thin, the travel premium buys presence and a long drive rather than expertise, an apartment rarely offers the private room in-home tutoring assumes, and nobody regulates tutors except MoHRE through a permit that costs nothing. IB Gram's answer is one-to-one tuition over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with no home visits anywhere in the UAE. Tell us the school, the subject and the level, and we will arrange a free trial lesson with the specialist who would teach your child.
