IGCSE Tutor near me in Dubai Production City

Families searching for an IGCSE tutor near me in Dubai Production City usually start in the week a report card lands. The more useful question is where that week sits in the Dubai school year, because a November start, a February start and an April start call for three different plans. IB Gram teaches Production City students one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with the term calendar built into the plan from the first session.

  • Plans written to the Dubai three-term year, not a generic twelve-month package
  • Ramadan and holiday scheduling agreed before the first session, not improvised
  • Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE taught separately by board
  • Free trial lesson first, no card held, nothing renews on its own

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Production City

The report card arrives in a particular week, and the week decides the plan

Dubai Production City has no secondary school inside it. Students bus out to Motor City, Dubai Investments Park, Al Barsha or Jebel Ali, and most of them are on the standard Dubai academic year: late August or early September to late June or early July, in three terms with a long winter break around the turn of the year and a spring break in the second half of the year. That calendar, far more than the neighbourhood, determines what a tutor should be doing with a student in any given month.

Search for an IGCSE tutor near me in Dubai Production City and the results are ranked by distance. What they cannot tell you is whether now is the right moment to start, what the next eight to twelve weeks should achieve, or whether the problem your child has is one that a particular term can fix. A family arriving in October has the whole of Year 11 available. A family arriving after the spring break has weeks, and the right plan is narrower and more selective.

We write plans to that structure. First term of Year 10 is foundation work: tiering decisions, study habits, and closing the gaps that followed a student up from Year 9. Second and third terms of Year 10 are content consolidation while it is still being taught, which is the cheapest marks available in the whole qualification. First term of Year 11 is mock preparation. Second term is paper technique and entry confirmation. Third term, where it exists before the series, is pure past-paper volume.

Two local factors change the shape of that. Ramadan moves earlier by roughly eleven days each Gregorian year, so the weeks it overlaps with mock season shift annually, bringing shortened school days and post-Iftar study with them. And the Production City bus day is long, which compresses weekday evenings and makes long single sessions a poor investment compared with shorter, more frequent ones. Both get planned in rather than discovered.

One more thing a distance-sorted search cannot show you. The two IGCSE boards running in Dubai schools set different papers, different tiers and different grading scales, and in a school entering candidates with both, the pattern differs subject by subject. A term plan written without that information is a term plan written for the wrong exam, so the first thing we ask any Production City family for is the board and the syllabus code, straight from the exams officer, in writing.

Delivery is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visiting is a service we run in India only. Everything on this page was reviewed in October 2026, and where an exam timetable is involved, read the board's own live PDF rather than any restatement, including ours. Where we quote a date it is a past one, because a past date is checkable and a future one eventually stops being true without anybody editing the page.

  • The standard Dubai school year runs late August to late June or early July, in three terms
  • Cambridge IGCSE for UAE candidates: June series, November resit route; no February or March sitting is available to UAE candidates
  • Pearson Edexcel International GCSE: May/June and November; the November 2026 timetable ran to 19 November 2026
  • Ramadan shifts earlier by about eleven days a year, moving which school weeks it affects
  • Dubai market rate for a qualified IGCSE subject tutor online: roughly AED 150-300 an hour
  • Production City students bus out; weekday sessions realistically start from 5:30pm

Cambridge IGCSE

Mostly tiered into Core and Extended, with Core capped at grade C and Extended reaching A*. Syllabus codes are worth knowing: 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology, 0500 First Language English. Assessment is linear and sat at the end of the course, with practical or alternative-to-practical routes in the sciences decided by the school.

Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for the zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam otherwise. Ask your Production City child's exams officer which zone the school sits in, in writing, before planning a single revision week.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Uses 4-prefix codes such as 4MA1 Mathematics A, 4PH1 Physics, 4CH1 Chemistry and 4EA1 English Language, graded 9-1. Mathematics A is tiered Foundation and Higher; the International GCSE sciences are untiered. Some subjects are available in a modular pattern, which spreads assessment across sessions rather than concentrating it in one terminal run.

Pearson publishes provisional timetables for sessions a year ahead and revises them, so the live official PDF is the only version to plan a term against. January results matter locally too: November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, which is what makes the second half of the winter term a decision point for Dubai families.

AS and A Level progression

Most Dubai British-curriculum schools move students into AS and A Level at sixteen, with subject-specific IGCSE grade requirements for entry. Mathematics and the sciences typically need a grade 6 or B. The step in abstraction from IGCSE Extended to AS is steeper than anything a student has met, particularly in Mathematics where early calculus arrives immediately.

For UAE Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3 are required, plus one A Level at no less than E or two AS Levels at the same grade, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from the five. Verify on moe.gov.ae.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Eight subjects, with the term in which work on each usually pays best. The pattern is that content-heavy subjects reward early consolidation and technique-led subjects respond late, which is the single most useful planning fact at this level.

Mathematics

Core and Extended, or Foundation and Higher

Cambridge 0580 or Pearson 4MA1. Responds quickly at any point in the year because a large share of lost marks are method marks the student earned mentally and never wrote down. Bounds, algebraic manipulation and vectors are the recurring content gaps.

Physics

Core and Extended

Cambridge 0625 or Pearson 4PH1. Best worked on in the second and third terms of Year 10, while electricity and moments are being taught. Late work on Physics is possible but selective, and should target two topics rather than the syllabus.

Chemistry

Core and Extended

Cambridge 0620 or Pearson 4CH1. Moles and stoichiometry are the gate: a student who cannot do mole calculations reliably will lose marks across every paper. Fix that early, because everything downstream assumes it.

Biology

Core and Extended

Cambridge 0610 or Pearson 4BI1. The highest content volume of the three sciences, so it rewards steady work across both years and punishes a late sprint. Transport in plants, homeostasis and genetics are the usual trouble spots.

English Language

First Language and Second Language

Cambridge 0500 and 0510, or Pearson 4EA1. The fastest-moving subject in a short block, because directed writing and the summary task are governed by a structure a student can learn once and apply in every paper.

Mathematics: Additional

IGCSE

Cambridge 0606. Taken by a small, strong cohort as a bridge to AS Level, covering early calculus, trigonometric identities and series. The best preparation available at sixteen for A Level Mathematics, and the subject where local specialist tutors are genuinely scarce.

Economics

IGCSE

Cambridge 0455 or Pearson 4EC1. Diagram accuracy decides the grade, and data response questions need figures quoted from the extract rather than paraphrased. Both are technique rather than content, so late work is effective here.

Business Studies

IGCSE

Cambridge 0450 or Pearson 4BS1. Students reliably reach the analysis band and stop short of the evaluation band, which is where the top marks sit. Teaching a justified judgement is a few sessions of work and it transfers to every extended answer.

Arabic

First Language and Foreign Language

Cambridge 0508 or 0544. For Dubai students this runs alongside KHDA's mandatory Arabic requirement, which is a different syllabus from the examined IGCSE. Families here often need support on both streams in the same term.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three patterns, chosen by where in the school year you are starting. Picking the wrong one is the most common and most expensive planning error at this level.

Year 10 weekly consolidation

One session a week through Year 10, following the school's own teaching order so topics are consolidated while they are still being taught. This is the least dramatic and most effective pattern available, and it is the one that prevents the Year 11 emergency rather than treating it. It also costs less per mark recovered than any late intervention.

  • Session content follows the school scheme of work week by week
  • Tiering decision supported with evidence before the school asks for it
  • Short written note after each session on topic covered and work set
  • Slot held across half-terms and the winter break

Mock-term intensive

Two sessions a week through the first term of Year 11 and into the mock window. One repairs content, one is a timed paper marked against the published mark scheme, with a categorised error log carried between them. This is the pattern that converts a student who knows the material into one who can show it inside the time limit.

  • Diagnostic timed paper before any teaching begins
  • Error log categorised by command term, topic and pacing
  • Mock results reviewed at component level, not grade level
  • Plan adjusted immediately after mocks rather than at the next term

Final-term paper volume

A short, narrow block in the weeks before the series, built almost entirely from timed questions on two or three identified topics. By this point content teaching has limited returns and technique has high ones, so the sessions are deliberately repetitive. This pattern is chosen by what the mock paper showed, not by what feels unfinished.

  • Two or three target topics only, chosen from the mock script
  • Timed questions every session, marked point by point
  • Command-term drilling across all papers in the subject
  • Fixed end date at the series, with nothing renewing afterwards

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Production City

01

The Dubai school year, term by term, for a Year 10 and Year 11 student

The standard Dubai academic year opens in late August or early September and closes in late June or early July, split into three terms with a long winter break and a spring break. Within that, a British-curriculum student's two IGCSE years have a predictable rhythm, and it is a rhythm that most tutoring arrangements ignore entirely in favour of a flat weekly hour that means the same thing in October as in April.

First term of Year 10 is the only moment when tiering is genuinely open. Core or Extended, Foundation or Higher: that decision should be made on evidence from timed work rather than on optimism or anxiety, and a student who is moved to Extended in the second term of Year 11 has a very hard year. Work in this term should be diagnostic and habit-forming rather than exam-focused.

The middle of the two-year course, from the second term of Year 10 to the first term of Year 11, is where the cheapest marks live. Consolidating a topic in the fortnight after the school teaches it takes a fraction of the time it takes to reconstruct it eighteen months later. Almost no family starts here, which is why almost every family pays more than they needed to.

The last two terms are technique. Mocks arrive in the first or second term of Year 11 depending on the school, and they are the first honest signal of where a student actually is. Everything after that should be chosen from the mock script rather than from a syllabus checklist.

02

Ramadan, holidays and the weeks a plan actually loses

  • Ramadan moves about eleven days earlier each Gregorian year, changing which school weeks it affects
  • Post-Iftar sessions are a normal request and the slot is held, not cancelled
  • A full intensive across the winter break usually produces a tired January
  • The spring break is for timed papers, not for new content
  • Bring school term dates and travel plans to the first conversation

Any plan written across a Dubai school year has to survive Ramadan, and the complication is that Ramadan moves. It shifts earlier by roughly eleven days each Gregorian year, which means the school weeks it overlaps with change annually. A plan copied from a previous year's calendar will be wrong about which term is affected, and that is not a small error when it lands on a mock window.

During Ramadan, school hours in Dubai are shortened and family routines move substantially later. Study happens after Iftar for many households, which is workable and in some ways better: a student studying at nine in the evening with the household awake around them is more focused than one studying at five while fasting. Sessions move to post-Iftar slots as a normal request, and the slot is held rather than quietly dropped.

The other calendar losses are more predictable and more often mishandled. The long winter break tempts families into booking a full intensive programme, which usually produces a tired January. One or two targeted sessions on a single weak topic achieves more. The spring break typically sits uncomfortably close to the series, and the right use of it is timed paper work rather than new content.

The practical step is to put the dates on the table at the first conversation. Your school's term dates, your travel plans, and the Ramadan window for the year ahead. A plan built around those is a plan that still exists in week nine, which is more than can be said for most weekly arrangements.

03

What the distance-sorted search result cannot tell you

A near-me search ranks by proximity and then by whoever has invested most in local listings. Neither signal correlates with the thing you need, which is a tutor who teaches your child's board at your child's tier and is free in a slot your child is actually awake for. In Production City, where no secondary campus sits inside the community, those three conditions rarely coincide in the same person locally.

The structural reason is simple. IGCSE teachers cluster at the campuses that teach IGCSE, in Motor City, Dubai Investments Park, Al Barsha and Jebel Ali. A teacher finishing at four in Al Barsha does not reach IMPZ before five, and between five and seven the drive is closer to forty minutes. The Dubai travel premium of roughly AED 50-150 an hour, visible in the difference between published online and in-home bands, is that journey priced into your invoice.

It gets worse for the specific requirements that matter. Additional Mathematics 0606, a Pearson modular entry pattern, Arabic as a first language: these have small cohorts in any one community, so the number of local specialists is small, and the number free at half past five on a Tuesday in the mock term is smaller still. Online, the only filter left is subject and board knowledge.

We are explicit about this rather than coy, because IB Gram does not offer UAE home visits at all. Independent home tutors operate here and for a younger child needing physical supervision they can be the right choice. For a Year 10 or Year 11 student working to a term plan, what you want protected is the hours, and the journey is what spends them.

04

Mock results read at component level

  • Ask the school for component marks, not just the overall mock grade
  • Blank or abandoned questions indicate content gaps needing taught order
  • Low marks on attempted questions usually indicate command-term misreads
  • A script that thins towards the end is a pacing problem, not a knowledge one
  • Each of the three calls for a different plan and a different number of hours

A mock grade is almost useless on its own. A mock script is the most valuable document a Year 11 family will see all year. The grade tells you there is a problem; the script tells you which of three completely different problems it is, and the three need completely different plans.

The first is content: whole topics the student cannot attempt. These show as blank or abandoned questions clustered in particular areas, and they need teaching, in a fixed order, starting with whatever the other topics depend on. In Chemistry that is almost always moles. In Mathematics it is usually algebraic manipulation.

The second is technique: questions attempted and marked low despite the student knowing the material. These show as answers that describe when the command term said explain, or that stop at analysis when the band needed a judgement. This is the fastest thing to fix, often within a handful of sessions, and it is where most of the recoverable marks in a mock script sit.

The third is pacing: a script that is strong at the start and thin at the end, or whole final questions untouched. That is a timing problem and it is solved by practising question allocation by mark value, not by learning more content. Ask the school for the component breakdown, bring it to the first session, and let it choose the plan rather than deciding in advance. Schools provide component marks on request and are usually glad to be asked, because it is the conversation they would rather have than one about grades.

05

What a term of tuition costs in Dubai, and when the spend works hardest

Think in terms rather than hours. A term is roughly twelve weeks, so one weekly session is twelve hours and a twice-weekly mock-term pattern is twenty-four. At the Dubai market band for a qualified IGCSE subject tutor online, roughly AED 150-300 an hour, a single term at one session a week is AED 1,800 to AED 3,600. The twice-weekly mock term runs double that.

The return on that spend is not constant through the year, which is the part no package page tells you. Twelve hours spent in the second term of Year 10 consolidating content as it is taught recovers more marks than twenty-four hours spent in the final weeks of Year 11 trying to reconstruct the same material. The same money does different amounts of work depending on when it is spent.

The Dubai market bands, read in October 2026: budget or university-student tutors at AED 45-150, with EdFlik listing from AED 45-65 and Tutopiya from AED 33-52; qualified subject tutors online at AED 150-300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150; specialists at AED 200-450, with TutorChase at AED 270; premium or examiner-led at AED 500-650 or more, with BartyED at AED 650. Monthly packages seen include AED 799 for eight online sessions.

Worth adding as context: KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in Dubai private school fees for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. These are market figures and not IB Gram prices. We start with a free trial lesson and a conversation about how many hours the goal actually needs.

Boards, codes and the email to send this week

  • Ask the exams officer for board, syllabus code, tier and series per subject, in writing
  • Ask which Cambridge administrative zone the school sits in
  • Cambridge Core is capped at grade C; Pearson Mathematics A is Foundation and Higher on 9-1
  • Cambridge sciences have a practical or alternative-to-practical route chosen by the school
  • Some Pearson subjects are modular, which reshapes a revision term

A term plan written without knowing the board is a term plan written for the wrong exam. In a Dubai school running both Cambridge and Pearson, entries genuinely differ by subject, which is why a report card can show 9-1 grades beside A*-G grades with nothing wrong. Parents routinely do not know, and nobody tells them unless they ask.

The differences are not cosmetic. Cambridge 0580 Mathematics is tiered Core and Extended with Core capped at grade C; Pearson 4MA1 is Foundation and Higher on a 9-1 scale. Cambridge sciences offer a practical paper or an alternative-to-practical route and the school chooses; Pearson International GCSE sciences are untiered. Pearson offers some subjects modularly, which changes the shape of a revision term entirely.

So send one email to the exams officer and ask for four things per subject: the board, the syllabus code, the tier, and the series the student is entered for. Ask also which Cambridge administrative zone the school sits in, because Cambridge states that using the correct zone timetable is essential and that it cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who misses an exam after using the wrong one.

Bring that list to the first tutoring conversation. We match on board and tier as well as subject, and the reason is practical: a student revising from the wrong board's past papers is practising for an exam nobody is sitting, and that is a term lost rather than a session lost.

07

Permits, regulators and the honesty boundary

  • KHDA inspection reports for every Dubai private school are public and free
  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free, valid two years, under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023
  • No official fine schedule for unpermitted tutoring exists; distrust any amount quoted
  • Tutors give feedback on the student's own work and never produce assessed work
  • IB Gram holds no regulator approval, accreditation or UAE premises

Dubai private schools are overseen by KHDA, described by u.ae as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate, with annual inspections published on a six-band scale. Those reports are public and free, and the single most useful document available to a family considering a school move at the end of Year 9.

Individual tutors need a MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's service page lists a two-working-day completion time through its app, website or e-services system, and u.ae states that tutoring without the permit attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so no figure should be quoted to you.

On the academic side, the boundary is the same at IGCSE as at Diploma level. A tutor teaches the skills an assessment examines, explains what the criteria reward, and gives feedback on drafts the student wrote. A tutor does not write, rewrite or complete assessed work. We also do not reproduce or distribute board syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables, which are copyright material; we reference and link the official source.

IB Gram is not KHDA approved, ADEK approved, Cambridge accredited or Pearson approved, holds no KHDA Educational Services Permit, and has no UAE office. Ask any provider describing itself as approved which permit it means, because the phrase is used loosely in this market and the precise answer is informative.

08

Starting this term rather than next

  • Send board, syllabus code, tier, next assessment date and a recent marked script
  • Free trial lesson first, with a written note on what the tutor found
  • One free rematch if the first tutor is not the right fit
  • Availability given as a date, never filled with a substitute
  • No UAE home visits; that service runs in India only

The sequence is short and the first step is the one families skip. Send the board, the syllabus code, the tier, the next assessment date and, if there is one, a recent marked script. Those five things let us match a specialist precisely and write a plan that fits where you are in the year rather than a generic programme.

Then take the free trial lesson, which is a real teaching hour on the current sticking point rather than a consultation. Afterwards you get a short written note on what the tutor found. No card is held, nothing renews, and if the match is wrong we rematch once at no charge. For Production City households the slot usually lands at 5:30pm or later on weekdays, and weekend mornings work well for anything demanding.

On availability we give dates rather than substitutes. In the four weeks around mocks, early evening slots go first, and some subjects are thin year-round: Additional Mathematics, Arabic as a first language, and board-specific modular entries. If the specialist is a week away we say the date. If they are based outside the UAE and teaching into Gulf Standard Time, we say that before you book.

What we will not do, in Production City or anywhere else in the UAE, is send a tutor to your address. Home visiting is an India-only service for us. For a plan that has to survive a full term, the online format is what keeps the sessions happening when the bus is late, the road is closed or the family is away for half-term.

School-run timings around Production City

Six neighbouring communities, noted for when a student is actually home. These are the figures that decide whether a plan survives contact with a Tuesday.

Dubai Production City (IMPZ)

No campus inside the community, so every secondary student commutes. Year 11 students are typically home between four and half past, which puts the first workable weekday slot at 5:30pm.

Dubai Investments Park

Greenfield International School on site means some students are home before four. The one adjacent community where a 4:45pm weekday session is realistic across the term.

Al Furjan

Arbor School inside the community plus good metro access. Households here often run split timings, with a primary child home an hour before a Year 11 sibling, which complicates a shared study evening.

Discovery Gardens

Dense clusters east of Ibn Battuta with a large Year 10 and 11 cohort. Demand concentrates on Mathematics and the sciences, and evening slots here fill earliest in the mock term.

Jebel Ali

The Winchester School Jebel Ali and Delhi Private School Dubai serve this area on long bus routes. Students often arrive home after five, making 6pm the honest first slot during term.

Dubai South and Emaar South

The longest bus day in the cluster, with spread-out residential pockets. Weekend morning sessions work better here than weekday evenings for anything demanding.

Green Community

Low-density enclave inside Dubai Investments Park with a short run to Greenfield. Quiet and close, with a single access route that makes five-to-seven timing unpredictable for anybody driving in.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai Production City

Motor City, Sports City and Dubai Investments Park

The closest ring of campuses and where much of Production City's Year 10 and 11 cohort studies. Mostly British curriculum at secondary with sixth-form routes, which is why board and tier confirmation is the first thing we ask for from families in this area.

Jebel Ali, Al Furjan and Discovery Gardens

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Pin down where you are in the year

Tell us the term, the next assessment date and whether mocks have happened. A plan written in the second term of Year 10 looks nothing like one written after mocks in Year 11, and the most expensive mistake at this level is buying the wrong pattern at the right price.

  2. 02

Get the board and tier in writing

One email to the exams officer asking for board, syllabus code, tier and series per subject. We match tutors on board as well as subject, because revising from the wrong board's past papers is practice for an exam your child is not sitting and it costs a term rather than a session.

  3. 03

    Free trial lesson, then decide

A real teaching hour on the current sticking point, followed by a short written note on what the tutor found. No card held, nothing renews. If the match is wrong you say so and we rematch once at no charge, which is a better arrangement than comparing five profiles beforehand.

  4. 04

Set the slot around the bus and the calendar

Usually 5:30pm or later on weekdays for Production City, with weekend mornings for demanding work. School term dates, travel plans and the Ramadan window all go into the schedule at the start, so the plan still exists in week nine instead of quietly lapsing.

  5. 05

    Rebuild from the mock script

When mocks arrive, we read the component marks rather than the grade and rewrite the plan from what the script shows. Content gaps, command-term misreads and pacing failures look similar on a report card and need entirely different work, and only the script distinguishes them.

A flat weekly hour means something different in October than in April, and almost no provider changes it. We write to the three-term year, so Year 10 work consolidates content as it is taught and Year 11 work is chosen from a mock script rather than from a syllabus checklist.

Ramadan and holidays planned, not improvised

Ramadan shifts about eleven days earlier each Gregorian year, so the weeks it touches change annually. We agree post-Iftar slots and holiday handling at the start. A plan that assumes a fixed calendar loses sessions in exactly the weeks a student can least afford to lose them.

Board and tier matched, not just subject

Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 are different exams with different tiering and different grading scales. We ask for the syllabus code before matching anybody, and we tell you which board a tutor actually teaches rather than describing them as an IGCSE tutor generally.

Mock scripts read at component level

A grade says there is a problem; the script says which of three problems it is. Content gaps, technique failures and pacing failures need different work and different hours. We ask for component marks before writing a post-mock plan, which schools provide on request.

Rates published with their source

Every AED band here carries the competitor or rate table it came from and the month it was read. Three of the six main competitor pages in our research publish no price at all and two quote USD, which UAE families do not transact in. We do not present market rates as our own.

Hours protected across a whole term

A term plan only works if the sessions happen. Online delivery means a late bus, a closed road or a half-term abroad shifts a session rather than cancelling it. We do not offer UAE home visits, and across twelve weeks that reliability is worth more than physical presence for a Year 11 student.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Production City: your questions answered

When in the Dubai school year should we actually start IGCSE tutoring?+

The second term of Year 10, if the choice is free. Consolidating a topic in the fortnight after the school teaches it takes a fraction of the hours needed to reconstruct it eighteen months later, so the same money recovers more marks. Almost no family starts there, because nothing feels urgent yet. The next best moment is the first term of Year 11, before mocks, when there is still time to repair content as well as technique. Starting after the spring break is possible but the plan has to be narrow and selective rather than comprehensive.

How do we keep a tutoring plan running through Ramadan?+

Move the sessions after Iftar and agree it in advance. School hours shorten and household routines move later, so a nine o'clock session with the family awake is usually more productive than a five o'clock one while fasting. The planning trap is that Ramadan shifts about eleven days earlier each Gregorian year, so the school weeks it overlaps with change, and a schedule copied from last year will be wrong about which term is affected. We hold the slot rather than dropping it, and we put the window into the plan at the first conversation.

Why does a near-me search not find the right IGCSE tutor here?+

Because it ranks by distance and local listing spend, and neither predicts whether somebody teaches your child's board at your child's tier in a slot your child is awake for. Dubai Production City has no secondary campus inside it, so IGCSE teachers cluster at the campuses in Motor City, Dubai Investments Park, Al Barsha and Jebel Ali. One finishing at four in Al Barsha does not reach IMPZ before five, and the published travel premium of roughly AED 50-150 an hour is that journey priced into your invoice.

What should we ask the school's exams officer, and when?+

This week, in one email, for four things per subject: the board, the syllabus code, the tier and the series your child is entered for. Also ask which Cambridge administrative zone the school sits in, because Cambridge states it is essential to use the correct zone timetable and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. In a school running both boards, entries differ by subject, which is why a report card can carry 9-1 grades beside A*-G grades without any error in it.

Our child's mock grade was a 4. What do we do with that?+

Ask for the component marks, because the grade alone cannot tell you which of three problems you have. Blank or abandoned questions mean content gaps and need teaching in dependency order. Attempted questions marked low usually mean command-term misreads, which is the fastest thing to fix and where most recoverable marks sit. A script that thins towards the end is a pacing problem solved by allocating time against mark value. Those three need different plans and different numbers of hours, and only the script distinguishes them.

Is a winter-break intensive programme worth booking?+

Usually not as a full programme. Families book ten to twenty hours across the long break with good intentions and produce a tired January, which costs more than it gains in a term where mocks are often close. One or two targeted sessions on a single weak topic, with real rest around them, achieves more. The spring break is different: by then content teaching has limited returns and timed paper work has high ones, so a short burst of papers over that break is usually a sound use of the time.

What does one term of weekly tuition cost in Dubai?+

A Dubai term is roughly twelve weeks, so one weekly session is twelve hours. At the market band for a qualified IGCSE subject tutor online, roughly AED 150-300 an hour, that is AED 1,800 to AED 3,600 for the term. A twice-weekly mock-term pattern doubles it. Specialists sit higher at AED 200-450, with TutorChase publishing AED 270. Those figures were read in October 2026 from competitor pages and the Bestimate Dubai rate table, and they describe the market rather than our price list, which is why we start with a free trial lesson instead.

Can my child still move from Core to Extended partway through?+

Sometimes, and it gets harder every term. The tiering decision is genuinely open in the first term of Year 10 and should be made on evidence from timed work rather than on optimism or anxiety. A student moved up in the second term of Year 11 faces a very hard year, because Extended content they never met has to be learned alongside revision of everything else. If a move is being considered, ask the school for a timed Extended paper first and decide from the script, not from classwork.

What time do sessions start for a Year 11 student commuting from IMPZ?+

Realistically 5:30pm Gulf Standard Time or later on weekdays. With no secondary campus inside Dubai Production City, students bus to Motor City, Dubai Investments Park, Al Barsha or Jebel Ali and are typically home between four and half past, needing food and a break first. Students in Dubai South and Emaar South often need six o'clock or later. Because the lesson is online it starts at the booked minute rather than when somebody arrives, and weekend mornings work well for anything that demands concentration.

Does a Pearson modular entry change how we plan the year?+

Considerably. Where a subject is offered modularly, units can be sat across sessions rather than in a single terminal run, so revision is sequenced unit by unit instead of building to one peak. That suits a student who struggles to hold a whole syllabus in view and disadvantages one who needs a single deadline to work. Pearson publishes provisional timetables a year ahead and revises them, so plan against the live official PDF and confirm the entry pattern with the exams officer before writing any term schedule around it.

Which IGCSE subject gives the quickest improvement late in the year?+

English Language, usually, because the directed writing and summary tasks are governed by a structure a student can learn once and then apply in every paper. Mathematics is close behind, since a large share of lost marks are method marks the student earned mentally and never wrote down. Economics and Business Studies move on the evaluation band, which most students never reach despite knowing the content. The sciences are slower and should be targeted at two or three specific topics rather than attempted whole.

Are private tutors in Dubai legally required to be licensed?+

Yes. A MoHRE private tuition work permit is required, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service page lists a two-working-day completion time through its app, website or e-services system. u.ae states that tutoring without a permit attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, but no fine schedule is published, so treat any quoted amount as unverified.

Do you visit homes in Dubai Production City for weekly sessions?+

No. IB Gram delivers all UAE lessons as one-to-one live video, and home visiting is a service we run in India only. Across a twelve-week term the online format is what keeps the sessions happening: a late bus, a closed road on the Expo corridor or a half-term trip shifts a lesson rather than cancelling it. Independent home tutors do work in this area, with market in-home rates of roughly AED 180-350 an hour, and for a younger child who needs physical supervision they can genuinely be the better choice.

Will a tutor help with school-set projects or controlled assessments?+

A tutor will teach the skills the task assesses, explain what the criteria actually reward, question the approach before weeks go into something unworkable, and give feedback on drafts the student wrote. A tutor will not write, rewrite or complete any part of it, because the line is authorship and it is not negotiable. We also do not reproduce or distribute board syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables, which are copyright material. We reference the official source and work from papers the school or student legitimately holds.

How quickly can you match a tutor in the mock term?+

Usually two to four days for mainstream subjects, and we give a date rather than a substitute when it is longer. Early evening slots go first in the four weeks around mocks, and some subjects are thin all year: Additional Mathematics 0606, Arabic as a first language, and board-specific modular entries. If the available specialist is based outside the UAE and teaching into Gulf Standard Time, we say so before you book rather than afterwards. No competitor page in our research discloses a coverage limit of any kind.

Find the week you are in, then choose the pattern

Everything useful about IGCSE tutoring in this community follows from one question: where in the Dubai school year are you standing? Second term of Year 10 means weekly consolidation while content is fresh and cheap. First term of Year 11 means twice weekly, content plus timed papers, before mocks measure anything. After mocks means reading the component marks and working only on what the script shows. Get the board and tier from the exams officer, put the term dates and the Ramadan window on the table, and take a free trial lesson before committing to anything.
