IB Home Tutor in Dubai Production City

Parents searching for an IB home tutor in Dubai Production City are usually comparing two things at once: who is physically close, and who actually teaches the Diploma. Those two answers rarely overlap in this corner of Dubai. IB Gram delivers every UAE lesson as one-to-one live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, so a Production City family picks a Chemistry HL or Analysis and Approaches specialist rather than whoever can reach IMPZ before six.

  • Live one-to-one video lessons on Gulf Standard Time, never a recorded course
  • Diploma, MYP and PYP subject specialists, matched by subject and level
  • Free trial lesson before any commitment, with no card held
  • Market AED rates published openly, attributed to the source

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Production City

Dubai Production City is a short drive from everything and close to nothing

Dubai Production City, still called IMPZ by almost everyone who lives there, sits west of Al Khail Road between Motor City and Dubai Investments Park. It is a compact grid of towers and low-rise clusters with a lake at the centre, and it has one quality that shapes every tutoring decision a family here makes: it is twelve minutes from a lot of places and thirty-five minutes from the schools that actually run the IB Diploma. There is no IB World School inside the community boundary. Children here commute out, in school buses that leave early and return late.

That geography is why a search for an IB home tutor in Dubai Production City behaves differently from the same search in Jumeirah. In Jumeirah, a parent is choosing between a dozen tutors who live within ten minutes. Here, the honest pool of IB Diploma specialists who will drive to IMPZ on a Tuesday at half past five is small, and it gets smaller the more specific the subject becomes. Economics SL is findable. Chemistry HL with Internal Assessment supervision, taught by somebody who has actually read the current assessment criteria, is a different question.

So this page is written as a comparison. We put Dubai Production City next to Al Furjan, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Investments Park, Dubai South, Emaar South, Jebel Ali and Green Community, because those are the communities a Production City family is realistically compared against when a tutor decides whether a journey is worth making. The useful finding is that the answer comes out the same in every one of them, and for the same reason: travel is the constraint, not talent. Removing the travel removes the constraint.

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE. Home visiting is a service we run in India only. Every UAE lesson is one-to-one over live video, which is why we can put a Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL specialist in front of a Production City student on a weekday evening without anybody crossing Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road at six o'clock. We say that plainly rather than burying it, because a parent who books expecting a doorbell has been misled, and because the online case stands up on its own merits once you see the numbers side by side.

What follows is the detail: what the Dubai market charges per hour and per month, with the source for each band; how the travel premium is constructed and what it buys; how Production City compares with the six communities nearest to it; the IB assessment structure your child is being measured against; the exam calendar counted backwards from the May session; what KHDA and the MoHRE permit actually govern; and the academic-honesty line that separates a tutor from an essay mill. Figures were reviewed in October 2026.

At a glance

  • No IB World School sits inside Dubai Production City; students commute to Al Barsha, Motor City, Dubai Investments Park or Jumeirah
  • Dubai market rates for an IB Diploma specialist run roughly AED 200-450 per hour online, and AED 200-500 in-home including travel
  • In-home visits in this part of Dubai carry a travel premium of roughly AED 50-150 per session, from published market rate differences
  • IB Gram delivers UAE tuition online one-to-one; home visits are an India-only service
  • Dubai private schools are regulated by KHDA, which inspects annually on a six-band scale
  • Individual private tutors in the UAE require a MoHRE private tuition work permit, issued free of charge for two years
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Production City families sit across the full IB continuum, usually at different schools, because there is no single-campus continuum provider inside the community. A family with two children can easily have one at PYP in Motor City and one at DP in Al Barsha, on two different bus timetables.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

The PYP is organised around six transdisciplinary themes rather than separate subjects, assessed continuously against learner-profile attributes and approaches to learning. There is no external examination. Support at this stage is about building the number sense, reading stamina and written fluency that the Middle Years Programme will later assume, and it works best in short, frequent sessions rather than long ones.

A Production City child in PYP is almost certainly bussed to Dubai Investments Park, Motor City or Al Barsha, which means a 7am pickup and a 4pm drop. Evening sessions have to start late or not at all, and that single scheduling fact is the most common reason local in-home arrangements collapse in the first month.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

The MYP assesses eight subject groups against four criteria each, scored one to eight, converted to a 1-7 grade by published subject boundaries. Criterion labels are letters, not topics: in Mathematics, Criterion A is knowing and understanding, Criterion C is communicating. Most lost marks are communication marks rather than content marks, which is a fixable problem once a student sees what the descriptor asks for.

MYP Year 11 is the pressure point for Production City families, because the jump into the Diploma is not mediated by an external exam the way IGCSE mediates it. Students arrive in DP1 having never sat a three-hour paper. We use the final MYP term to introduce timed conditions before the Diploma does it for them.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

The Diploma is six subjects across six groups, three at Higher Level and three at Standard, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. The maximum is 45: 42 subject points plus three from the TOK and Extended Essay matrix. Each subject carries an internally assessed component, typically 20-25 per cent of the grade, completed during the course rather than in the exam hall.

Diploma students from Production City lose the most usable study time to the commute. A 35-minute bus each way in Dubai afternoon traffic is roughly five hours a week, and those are the hours families try to buy back. Online sessions starting at 6pm or 7:30pm Gulf Standard Time are the slots Production City households actually book.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

The Career-related Programme combines at least two Diploma courses with a career-related study, a reflective project, a personal and professional skills course, service learning and language development. It is offered by a small number of UAE schools and suits a student with a defined vocational direction who still wants IB subject rigour in two or three areas.

CP provision near Dubai Production City is thin, so a family considering it is usually weighing a longer commute to a specific campus. Where a student takes DP courses inside a CP framework, the subject teaching is identical, and we tutor those courses on exactly the same basis as a full Diploma student's.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the Diploma subjects Production City and Jebel Ali families request most, with the component that most often decides the grade. The pattern across this cluster is science-heavy, which tracks the engineering and media employment base in and around the community.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Proof, calculus and algebraic fluency carry this course. HL adds Paper 3, a two-question problem-solving paper worth 20 per cent that rewards students who can read an unfamiliar structure and start anyway. Marks go missing in unjustified steps rather than wrong answers, because method marks need visible reasoning.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics, modelling and technology use dominate. The graphical calculator is assumed throughout, and a student who cannot run a chi-squared test or a regression on the device loses marks that have nothing to do with mathematics. HL adds a markedly harder statistics and probability strand.

Physics

HL and SL

The 2023 syllabus reorganised content into five themes with HL extensions. Paper 1 splits into multiple choice and a data-analysis section; Paper 2 is extended response. Students lose marks on uncertainty treatment and on explain questions where they describe what happens without naming the physical principle.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Structure and reactivity are now taught as two integrated strands. Organic mechanisms, energetics and equilibrium produce most of the lost marks, usually because a student states a product without a mechanism or an arrow. The scientific investigation is a single piece of internally assessed work worth 20 per cent.

Biology

HL and SL

Unity and diversity, form and function, interaction and interdependence, continuity and change are the organising themes. The volume of terminology is the real difficulty. Command terms matter more here than in any other science: outline, explain, distinguish and suggest each buy a different number of marks.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams are the grade. A correctly labelled and correctly shifted diagram with an explanation tied to it scores where a paragraph of prose does not. The internal assessment is a portfolio of three commentaries, each 800 words maximum, each on a different unit and a different article.

Business Management

HL and SL

Tools such as Ansoff, SWOT and the business management toolkit are examined for application, not recall. Paper 1 works from a pre-released case study. The HL extension adds a 1,800-word research project built on primary or secondary data about a real organisation's issue.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Assessment is Paper 1 guided analysis of unseen non-literary texts, Paper 2 comparative essay, the individual oral on a global issue, and at HL a 1,200-1,500 word essay. The individual oral is where confident students underperform, because it needs a defensible global issue, not a favourite text.

Computer Science

HL and SL

System fundamentals, computer organisation, networks and computational thinking, plus HL options including resource management and control. The solution development internal assessment is a working product with documentation, and scope control decides the mark more often than coding ability does.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

TOK is assessed by a 1,600-word essay on a prescribed title and an exhibition of three objects with 950 words of commentary. Together with the Extended Essay it contributes up to three points. Students treat it as an afterthought and then discover it is the difference between 38 and 41.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three delivery patterns cover almost every Production City enquiry. Which one fits depends on how far away the exam session is and whether the problem is content, technique or pace.

Weekly one-to-one, same tutor, same slot

One 60-minute live session a week with the same specialist, held at a fixed time so it survives the school bus timetable. This is the pattern for a student who is coping but underperforming: the tutor tracks the school's own scheme of work and arrives each week with the next thing rather than asking what happened.

  • Fixed weekly slot from 5:30pm Gulf Standard Time once buses are back
  • Session notes after each lesson, naming what was covered and what was set
  • Tutor works from your child's school assessment calendar, not a generic plan
  • Pause weeks around school trips and exam leave without losing the slot

Twice-weekly exam block

Two sessions a week for a defined run of six to twelve weeks before mock or final papers. One session covers content gaps, the second is pure timed-paper work marked against the published mark scheme, so the student sees the gap between what they wrote and what earned the mark. Most families book this in the second term of DP2.

  • Past-paper work under exam timing, marked against the official mark scheme
  • A written error log that carries from one session to the next
  • Command-term drilling, because wrong verb reading costs marks content knowledge would have earned
  • Fixed end date, so the block does not drift into an open-ended commitment

Internal assessment and core supervision

Scheduled sessions through an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or TOK essay, aligned to the school's internal deadlines rather than the IB's. The tutor teaches the criteria, questions the research design and gives feedback on the student's own drafts. The tutor does not write, rewrite or complete any part of the work.

  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback using the published assessment descriptors
  • Research question narrowing before weeks are spent on an unworkable topic
  • Draft review against school deadlines, with the student making every change
  • Written record of what support was given, which some schools ask to see

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Production City

01

What a home tutor in Dubai Production City really costs, once you count the road

A home tutor in Dubai Production City costs the published hourly rate plus a travel cost that nobody itemises. Market rates for in-home one-to-one tuition in Dubai run roughly AED 180-350 per hour on Bestimate's 2026 rate table, with individual home tutors quoting up to AED 500 for specialist levels, against roughly AED 150-300 for the same qualified subject tutor delivered online. That gap of AED 50-150 an hour is the travel premium, and it is the single largest line item in the decision.

The premium exists because a tutor driving to IMPZ cannot teach for the forty minutes they spend in the car, and they price that time into the lesson. From Al Barsha South, where several of the Diploma campuses sit, the drive to Production City is twenty minutes at ten in the morning and closer to forty between five and seven, which is exactly when a Diploma student is free. A tutor who teaches three Production City families in an evening spends more of the evening driving than teaching, and the rate reflects that arithmetic.

The second cost is invisible on an invoice. A tutor who can reach IMPZ in the window a Diploma student is awake is drawn from a geographic pool rather than a subject pool, so a family often ends up with a good general science teacher covering Chemistry HL instead of a Chemistry HL specialist. That trade is rarely made consciously. It is made by the map.

Published market figures below were read in October 2026 from competitor pages and the Bestimate Dubai rate table. They are the Dubai market, not IB Gram prices. Our own model starts with a free trial lesson and a conversation about how many hours the goal actually needs, which for most Diploma students is fewer than families expect and spread over longer.

Production City against the next community over, and why the answer does not change

Put Dubai Production City beside Al Furjan, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Investments Park, Dubai South, Emaar South, Jebel Ali and Green Community and a pattern appears immediately. The communities differ in density, in build type and in how long the school bus takes. They do not differ in the depth of the local IB Diploma tutor pool, because the pool is drawn from the same set of campuses and the same set of teachers, and those campuses are clustered in Al Barsha, Motor City and Dubai Investments Park regardless of which of these eight communities you live in.

That is the finding that matters. A family in Al Furjan sometimes assumes their shorter school run means a better local tutor market. It does not. It means a shorter school run. The Chemistry HL specialist who could teach your child is still a thirty-minute drive away in the evening, is still choosing between your 5:30pm and somebody else's, and is still pricing their car into the hour.

Discovery Gardens adds a wrinkle of its own: the clusters are dense, visitor parking is contested, and the last three minutes of a tutor's journey are often the slowest. Dubai South and Emaar South sit at the opposite extreme, with long distances between residential pockets and almost nothing in the way of established IB provision inside them. Both ends of that range point the same direction.

The table below is the comparison a tutor actually makes. Commute figures are indicative off-peak to peak ranges for a private car, not guarantees, and they move with road works on the Expo and Al Maktoum corridors.

Online against in-home for a Production City household, line by line

The comparison that decides this is not quality against convenience. Both formats are one-to-one with a human teacher. The comparison is about which constraints each format imposes, and for a community with no IB campus inside it, those constraints fall very differently.

In-home tuition gives you physical presence, which genuinely helps a younger child who needs a hand kept on the page, and it gives a tutor the ability to see a desk, a phone and a distraction pattern. It costs you the travel premium, a smaller specialist pool, fragile scheduling and a cancellation whenever the Al Khail slip road backs up. For a Year 4 PYP child in Production City, that trade can still be worth making with a local tutor.

Online one-to-one gives you the specialist pool of the whole platform, a session that starts on time because nobody is driving, a shared digital whiteboard that produces a saved record of every worked solution, and the ability to run a session from a hotel room in half-term. It costs you physical presence and it asks a thirteen-year-old to manage their own attention for an hour, which some can and some cannot.

For Diploma students specifically, the balance is not close. A DP2 student needs somebody who knows that Paper 3 in Analysis and Approaches is twenty per cent and what the examiner wants in the first two lines of an answer. Subject precision beats proximity at that level, every time. IB Gram delivers UAE lessons online for exactly this reason, and does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE.

What a Diploma student is actually measured on, component by component

Families often buy tutoring against a report-card grade without knowing which components produce that grade. In the Diploma, every subject carries an internally assessed piece completed during the course, and in most subjects it is a fifth to a quarter of the final mark. It is also the only part of the grade a student can bank calmly, months before the exam hall, which makes it the highest-leverage thing to get right early.

The externally assessed papers vary more than parents expect. In the sciences, Paper 1 now splits into a multiple-choice section and a data-analysis section, and the data section rewards a skill nobody teaches explicitly: reading a graph, deciding what the uncertainty is, and saying so in the language the mark scheme uses. In Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL, Paper 3 is a two-question extended problem-solving paper worth a fifth of the grade, and students who have never practised starting an unfamiliar structure lose that fifth before they begin.

Then there is the core. Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay together contribute up to three points on the 45-point scale. Three points is the difference between a conditional offer and a rejection at more universities than most families realise, and it is earned in writing done in DP1 and the first term of DP2, when nobody feels urgent.

The weightings below are the standard published structure for the subjects Production City families request most often. Schools confirm exact component weightings for the current syllabus version in their subject handbooks, and those handbooks are the document to ask for at the first parents' evening.

The exam calendar counted backwards from the May session

UAE IB schools sit the May examination session. That single fact restructures the whole of DP2, because the internal deadlines that actually govern a student's year sit months before it and are set by the school, not the IB. A family who starts planning in the spring term has already missed the two deadlines that mattered most.

Counting backwards is the useful exercise. The Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge essay are typically finished in the first half of DP2, while Internal Assessments across six subjects land in a cluster that schools stagger across the autumn and winter terms. Mocks usually sit in the winter term and are the first honest signal of where a student is. By the time May arrives, the internal component of the grade is already fixed and sitting on a server.

We do not publish specific IB session or results dates on these pages. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so every date in this project would be a date we could not verify, and a wrong date is a date a parent acts on. Confirm your child's exact windows with their IB coordinator or on ibo.org. What we can publish safely is the sequence and the lead times, which do not move.

For comparison, where a Production City student also sits Cambridge or Pearson qualifications, those calendars are published and verifiable. Cambridge runs June and November series for UAE candidates; the February and March series is offered to India only. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November, with the November 2026 final timetable running to 19 November 2026 and November 2025 results reaching students on 22 January 2026.

KHDA, the MoHRE permit, and how a Production City parent checks a tutor

  • KHDA inspection reports for every Dubai private school are published on the regulator's own site
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free and valid for two years under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023
  • No official fine schedule for unpermitted tutoring is published; treat any quoted figure as unverified
  • ADEK's ethics rules bar Abu Dhabi school staff from paid tutoring of students at their own school
  • IB Gram holds no regulator approval, accreditation or partnership and has no UAE office

Dubai's private schools are regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. KHDA inspects annually and publishes a rating on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak. Those reports are public, and they are the most useful free document a parent in this community can read before a school transfer.

Private tutoring is a separate regulatory question. Individuals offering private lessons in the UAE need a MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. The permit is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service page is Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, with a two-working-day completion time through the MoHRE app, website or e-services.

u.ae states that individuals offering private tutoring without a MoHRE permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so no amount should be quoted to you by anybody, including us. If a tutor tells you a specific figure, they are repeating something unverified.

What a parent can actually do: ask the tutor whether they hold the MoHRE private tuition permit and when it expires; ask which syllabus version and board they teach; ask for the mark scheme they marked your child's last paper against. IB Gram is not KHDA approved, ADEK approved, IB authorised or Cambridge accredited, and does not hold a KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is a specific licence issued to training institutes with physical premises in Dubai. We have no premises in the UAE.

Where the academic-honesty line sits on an IA, Extended Essay or TOK essay

  • A tutor teaches criteria, questions method and gives feedback on the student's own drafts
  • A tutor never writes, rewrites or completes assessed coursework, in whole or in part
  • Operators selling finished Internal Assessments expose the student to a malpractice finding
  • Official syllabus documents and past papers are referenced and linked, never redistributed
  • A written session record is available if a school asks what support was given

This is the part of the market that should worry a Production City parent most, because the search results for Diploma coursework help include operators who sell finished work. One page in our own competitor research advertises completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750. Buying that is an academic-malpractice finding against your child, and the consequence sits with the student, not the seller.

The line is clear once stated. A tutor may teach the subject content the assessment rests on, explain each assessment criterion and what the descriptors actually ask for, question a research question until it is answerable, discuss method and whether the data will support a conclusion, read a draft the student wrote and say where it falls short of a criterion, and teach referencing. Everything in that list is teaching.

A tutor may not write any part of the work, supply text to be pasted in, rewrite a paragraph into its final form, generate the data, choose the topic on the student's behalf, or edit a draft to completion. The distinction is authorship. Feedback that tells a student their Criterion C analysis does not interpret the uncertainty is legitimate; handing them two sentences of interpretation is not.

We also do not reproduce or supply IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables. Those are copyright material and our tutors reference the official source and link to it. Where a school asks what external support a student received, we can provide a written record of the sessions and what was taught, which is a reasonable thing for a school to ask and a reasonable thing for us to be able to answer.

After the Diploma: MoE equivalency, Arabic, and what the ministry actually counts

A Diploma earned in Dubai often needs an equivalency certificate from the UAE Ministry of Education before it can be used for a UAE university place or certain employment routes. Most families meet this for the first time in DP2, under time pressure, which is the worst moment to discover a missing document.

For the British track the requirements are published and specific. Gulf Today reported in July 2026 that students must show five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than grade E, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Critically, Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. One ranking competitor states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects, which does not match the published rule.

For the IB there is no equivalency points threshold we can responsibly publish. The source that sets out the British and American tracks states no IB figure, and we will not print a number read from a competitor page. Check moe.gov.ae or your emirate's attestation authority directly, and ask your school's university counsellor, who handles this every year. IB Gram does not perform, submit or guarantee equivalency for anybody.

Alongside all of this run the UAE's mandatory subjects. KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all Dubai private schools whatever the licensed international curriculum, with separate classes organised for Arabs and non-Arabs because the curriculum expectations and language of instruction differ, and combined classes strictly prohibited. KHDA calculates mandatory-subject instructional time on a 40-minute lesson unit and advises at least 25 minutes for any mandatory subject lesson. These are graded subjects on a Dubai report card and the reason many Production City families book Arabic support alongside Diploma subjects.

  • One free rematch if the first tutor is not the right fit
  • Tutor location disclosed before booking, whether UAE-based or not
  • Post-Iftar and holiday rescheduling handled as a normal request
  • No home visits anywhere in the UAE; that service runs in India only

The honest version of getting started has four steps and one caveat. You tell us the subject, the level, the school and what the last report said. We match a specialist in that exact subject and level. You take a free trial lesson, which is a real lesson and not a sales call, and you decide afterwards. If the match is wrong, you say so and we rematch once without charge.

The caveat is availability, and no competitor in our research discloses it. Some combinations are genuinely thin: Chemistry HL with Internal Assessment supervision in a specific evening slot, Computer Science HL, Arabic as a first language at Diploma level, Economics HL in the week before a mock. When that happens we say so and give you a date rather than putting a generalist in front of your child and hoping. Sometimes the honest answer is that the first available specialist slot is eleven days away.

Where a UAE-based tutor is not available for a niche subject, the specialist may be based outside the UAE and teaching into Gulf Standard Time. We tell you where your tutor is based before you book. Two of the competitor pages in our research route UAE parents to Indian phone numbers without disclosing delivery location at all; a parent should know, and should be able to ask.

On scheduling, Production City evenings are tight and we plan around that rather than against it. Buses return late, siblings have different pickup times, and during Ramadan families routinely move sessions to post-Iftar slots. All of those are normal requests. What is not normal, and what we will not do, is promise a tutor at your door in IMPZ. That is not a service IB Gram provides in the UAE, in this community or any other.

Where we tutor

Dubai Production City against the communities nearest to it

Each of these is a community a tutor would weigh against Production City when deciding whether an evening journey is worth making. The comparison is the point: the conclusion is identical everywhere, and it is about roads rather than ability.

Dubai Production City (IMPZ)

Towers and clusters around a central lake, west of Al Khail Road. No IB World School inside the boundary, so every Diploma student commutes. Evening sessions realistically start from 5:30pm once buses have returned.

Al Furjan

Villa and townhouse community between Discovery Gardens and Jebel Ali, served by two metro stations. Arbor School sits inside it. The school run is shorter than Production City's, but the Diploma pool is no deeper, because the campuses are the same ones.

Discovery Gardens

High-density apartment clusters directly east of Ibn Battuta. Parking and building access make in-home visits slow at the margin, and a tutor's twenty-minute drive can become thirty-five by the time they are at the door.

Dubai Investments Park

Industrial and residential mix south of Production City, and the location of Greenfield International School, an IB continuum campus. This is where a sizeable share of Production City's IB cohort actually studies.

Dubai South

The Al Maktoum airport district, still filling in. Residential clusters are spread out, journeys between them are long, and a tutor covering Dubai South and Production City in one evening is not a realistic proposition.

Emaar South

Golf-course villas inside Dubai South with a young family profile weighted to PYP and early MYP. Distance from established campuses makes it one of the strongest cases for online delivery in the whole emirate.

Jebel Ali

The older Jebel Ali Village and the port district, home to The Winchester School and Delhi Private School Jebel Ali. Largely British and Indian curriculum, so Diploma demand here is specific and concentrated.

Green Community

A low-density enclave within Dubai Investments Park with its own quiet road network. Short hop from Production City on paper; in practice the single access route makes timing unpredictable between five and seven.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai Production City

Dubai Investments Park, Motor City and Sports City

The nearest ring of campuses to Production City and where most of its secondary cohort studies. Greenfield International School runs the IB continuum; the others are British curriculum with sixth-form routes, which is why IGCSE-to-Diploma transition questions are common here.

  • Greenfield International School
  • GEMS Metropole School Motor City
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • Bradenham Preparatory School
  • Renaissance School Dubai
  • Dubai Heights Academy

Al Barsha, Jumeirah Park and Al Furjan

The second ring, roughly 25-40 minutes from Production City depending on the hour. It holds several of the emirate's established IB Diploma providers, which is why a Production City DP student's bus day is long at both ends.

  • Dubai International Academy Al Barsha
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • GEMS World Academy Dubai
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park
  • Arbor School
  • Sunmarke School

Jebel Ali and the southern corridor

Older established campuses serving Jebel Ali, Discovery Gardens and Dubai South. Predominantly British and Indian curriculum at secondary, with Fairgreen International School in The Sustainable City providing an IB continuum option to the south.

  • The Winchester School Jebel Ali
  • Delhi Private School Dubai
  • Fairgreen International School
  • The Apple International School
  • Bright Riders School

Schools are named here as the educational context families in this area actually work within. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any school named on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the subject, level and school

A short form or a WhatsApp message. The three things that make a match work are the exact subject, the exact level, and which school and board your child is on. A Production City family's answer to that third question is usually a campus in Al Barsha, Motor City or Dubai Investments Park, and it changes which tutor we propose.

  2. 02

We match one specialist, not a shortlist

You get one named tutor who teaches that subject at that level, with their background and where they are based. We do not send five profiles and ask you to choose, because choosing between strangers on paper is not a parent's job and it wastes a week you may not have before a mock.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson, then you decide

The trial is a genuine 60-minute teaching session on the topic your child is currently stuck on, not a consultation. Afterwards you get a short written note on what the tutor found. No card is held and nothing renews. If you do not want to continue, that is the end of it.

  4. 04

Fix the weekly slot around the bus

We set a repeating time that survives the school run, usually from 5:30pm Gulf Standard Time for Production City households. A fixed slot is what makes tutoring work over months. Ad hoc booking drifts, then stops, usually in the week the student most needed it.

  5. 05

Review against the school's own calendar

Every four to six weeks we look at whether the plan still matches what the school is assessing next. School assessment calendars move. If the Chemistry Internal Assessment deadline has shifted or a mock has been brought forward, the sessions change shape rather than continuing on a plan that no longer applies.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Subject match instead of postcode match

A Production City family searching locally is choosing from tutors who can reach IMPZ by six. Online, the pool is every specialist on the platform. For Analysis and Approaches HL or Chemistry HL, that difference is the whole quality of the teaching, and it is the clearest argument against the travel premium.

AED figures published with their source

Three of the six main competitor pages in our research publish no price at all, and two quote USD. We publish the Dubai market bands with the competitor or rate table each came from and the month they were read, so you can check them. We do not present market rates as our own price list.

Coursework handled the way the IB requires

Internal Assessment, Extended Essay and TOK support is teaching, criterion explanation and feedback on the student's own drafts. We never write or complete assessed work. That is stated plainly because operators in this same search sell finished Internal Assessments, and the student carries the consequence.

Availability disclosed before you commit

If no specialist in your subject and slot is free, we give you the date rather than a substitute. If the tutor is based outside the UAE, we say so before booking. Neither disclosure appears on any competitor page in our research, and both are things a parent is entitled to know.

No regulator claims we cannot evidence

We are not KHDA approved, ADEK approved, IB authorised or Cambridge accredited, and we hold no KHDA Educational Services Permit. We explain what each regulator does and link the official source. Phrases like KHDA-approved tutors are common in this market and, where untrue, are a real liability.

A written record that survives the year

Every session leaves notes and a saved whiteboard, so April revision can start from November's worked solutions rather than from memory. For a Diploma student across six subjects and six internal assessments, that record is the difference between revision and rediscovery.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Production City: your questions answered

Can I get an IB home tutor who comes to our villa in Dubai Production City?+

Not through IB Gram. We deliver every UAE lesson as one-to-one live video and do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visiting is a service we run in India only. Independent home tutors do operate in this area, and Dubai market rates for in-home one-to-one run roughly AED 180-350 an hour, rising to AED 500 for specialist levels. What you gain is physical presence. What you give up is the specialist pool, because the tutor has to be someone who can reach IMPZ in the evening, and for a Higher Level subject that constraint usually decides the teaching quality.

Is the tutor market in Al Furjan or Discovery Gardens any better than in Production City?+

No, and this is the most useful thing on this page. Those communities have shorter or longer school runs, different housing density and different parking, but the IB Diploma tutor pool is drawn from the same campuses in Al Barsha, Motor City and Dubai Investments Park whichever of them you live in. A Chemistry HL teacher is a thirty-minute evening drive from Al Furjan and from Production City alike. Moving community changes your commute, not your access to a specialist. Removing the drive from the equation is the only change that actually widens the pool.

How much should I expect to pay for IB Diploma tuition in this part of Dubai?+

Dubai market rates for an IB Diploma specialist run roughly AED 200-450 an hour, from the Bestimate 2026 rate table and TutorChase's published AED 270. Qualified subject tutors sit lower at AED 150-300 online. Monthly packages seen in the market include AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Those are market figures read in October 2026, not IB Gram prices. We start with a free trial lesson and a conversation about how many hours your actual goal needs, which is often fewer than a package assumes.

Which IB schools do Dubai Production City students usually attend?+

There is no IB World School inside the Production City boundary, so students commute. Greenfield International School in Dubai Investments Park is the nearest IB continuum campus. Beyond that, families use the Al Barsha ring, including Dubai International Academy Al Barsha, Nord Anglia International School Dubai and GEMS World Academy Dubai, while Fairgreen International School serves the southern corridor. Several nearby campuses are British curriculum with sixth-form routes, which is why IGCSE-to-Diploma transition questions are common here. We name these as context only and have no affiliation with any of them.

What time can an evening session realistically start for a Production City family?+

From about 5:30pm Gulf Standard Time for a secondary student, and later if there are siblings on different bus timetables. A Diploma student commuting to Al Barsha is typically on a bus that leaves early and returns between four and half past, and they need food and a break before anything useful happens. This is precisely why fixed online slots work here: the session starts at the booked minute because nobody is driving to it. Families who travel or who move to post-Iftar timing during Ramadan keep the same tutor and shift the slot.

Does my child need a MoHRE permit check before we hire a private tutor?+

You should ask about it. Individuals offering private lessons in the UAE need a MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged 15 to 18. u.ae states that tutoring without a permit attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, but no fine schedule is published, so treat any specific figure you are quoted as unverified. Ask the tutor directly whether they hold the permit and when it expires.

How many points are the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge worth together?+

Up to three, on the 45-point scale, awarded from a published matrix combining the two grades. Three points moves a student across most university offer thresholds, and it is earned by writing done in DP1 and the first term of DP2 rather than in the exam hall. The common Production City pattern is a strong science student who treats both as paperwork, finishes them late, and loses study time in the spring term writing what should have been finished in the autumn. Finishing the Extended Essay early is the cheapest grade improvement available in the Diploma.

Where exactly does legitimate Chemistry IA support stop for a Production City student?+

Yes, within clear limits. A tutor can teach the chemistry the investigation rests on, explain each assessment criterion and what the descriptors require, question the research question until it is answerable in the time available, discuss whether the method will produce usable data, and read a draft your daughter wrote and say where it falls short. A tutor cannot write any part of it, supply text, rewrite a paragraph to its final form, generate data or choose the topic. The test is authorship: every word and every number must be hers.

Why does online tuition cost less per hour than a home visit in Dubai?+

Because roughly AED 50-150 of an in-home hour is the car, not the teaching. A tutor driving from Al Barsha South to Production City between five and seven spends thirty to forty minutes each way and cannot teach in that time, so they price it into the lesson. Comparing the published bands makes it visible: qualified subject tutors at AED 150-300 online against AED 180-350 in-home for the same tier. The premium buys physical presence in the room. Whether that is worth AED 100 an hour depends far more on the child's age than on the subject.

When do UAE IB students sit their exams, and when should we start tutoring?+

UAE IB schools sit the May session. We do not publish specific IB session or results dates because the IB's own site blocks automated verification and a wrong date is one a parent acts on; confirm exact windows with your school's IB coordinator or on ibo.org. On timing, the leverage sits in DP1 and the autumn of DP2, when internal assessments and the Extended Essay are live and still fixable. Starting in the spring term of DP2 means the internal quarter of each grade is already banked and only the written papers remain to work on.

Does Cambridge's February and March exam series apply to my child in Dubai?+

No. The February and March series is offered to India only. UAE Cambridge candidates sit the June and November series, and Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, warning that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. Ask your school's exams officer which zone and which board your child is entered under, then read that specific timetable.

What is KHDA and does it regulate private tutors as well as schools?+

KHDA, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, is described by u.ae as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in Dubai. It inspects private schools annually and publishes ratings from Outstanding to Very Weak. It does not license individual private tutors; that sits with MoHRE. KHDA does issue an Educational Services Permit to training institutes with physical premises in Dubai. IB Gram does not hold one and has no UAE premises, so any provider describing itself as KHDA-approved for one-to-one tutoring is worth a direct question about which permit they mean.

My son is in MYP Year 11 and moves into DP next year. What should we work on now?+

Timed writing and Criterion C communication. MYP assesses four criteria per subject on a one-to-eight scale, and the marks students most commonly leave behind are communication marks rather than content marks. Because MYP has no external examination, students arrive in DP1 having never sat a three-hour paper, and the first mock is a shock that reads as a content problem when it is a pacing problem. We use the final MYP term to introduce exam timing, structured answers and command-term reading before the Diploma applies that pressure for the first time.

What happens if you do not have a tutor free in my child's subject?+

We tell you, and we give you a date. Thin combinations are real: Higher Level Chemistry with Internal Assessment supervision in a specific evening slot, Computer Science HL, Arabic as a first language at Diploma level. Rather than putting a generalist in front of your child, we say when the specialist is available, which is sometimes a week or more away. If the specialist is based outside the UAE and teaching into Gulf Standard Time, we tell you that before you book. No competitor page in our research discloses either limit.

Are Arabic and Islamic Education compulsory if my child is on the IB Diploma in Dubai?+

Yes. KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum. Schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs, because curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ, and combined classes are strictly prohibited. KHDA calculates instructional time on a 40-minute lesson unit and advises at least 25 minutes for any mandatory subject lesson. These subjects are graded on a Dubai report card, which is why families in this community frequently book Arabic support alongside Diploma subjects.

Will five IGCSEs be enough for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency later?+

For the British track, Gulf Today reported in July 2026 that students must present five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus one A Level at no less than E or two AS Levels at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. One ranking competitor states six subjects are required, which does not match that published rule. For the IB Diploma no points threshold appears in our sourced material, so check moe.gov.ae or your emirate's attestation authority. IB Gram does not perform or guarantee equivalency.

A Production City family's decision, reduced to one line

The choice here is not between a good local tutor and a distant stranger. It is between a tutor selected because they can reach IMPZ by six and a tutor selected because they teach your child's subject at your child's level. For a Primary Years child, presence in the room can still win. For a Diploma student working towards the May session with six internal assessments and an Extended Essay to land, subject precision wins and the comparison with Al Furjan, Discovery Gardens or Dubai South comes out the same. Book a free trial lesson, watch one hour of actual teaching, and decide from that rather than from a profile.
