IGCSE Home Tutor in Dubai Production City

Most families looking for an IGCSE home tutor in Dubai Production City are looking at a date. A mock in three weeks, a June series entry already submitted, a Year 11 report that arrived in November. This page is built around that calendar rather than around a tutor's postcode. IB Gram teaches Production City students one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, so the eight weeks you have left are spent on papers rather than on traffic.

  • Eight-week and twelve-week exam blocks with a fixed end date
  • Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE both covered
  • Timed past-paper work marked against the published mark scheme
  • Free trial lesson before any payment, no card held

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Production City

Work backwards from the series, not forwards from today

Dubai Production City, which residents still call IMPZ, holds a large British-curriculum cohort and no secondary campus inside its own boundary. Students bus out to Motor City, Dubai Investments Park, Al Barsha and Jebel Ali, and they come back late. That shapes when tutoring can happen. But the thing that shapes what tutoring should cover is not the community at all. It is the exam series, and the deadlines sitting months in front of it.

Cambridge International runs IGCSE and O Level examinations in a June series and a November series. The February and March series is offered to India only, so a Production City candidate sits June, with November as the resit route. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. Those are the two calendars almost every Dubai British-curriculum student lives inside, and the entry deadlines that govern them sit with the school's exams officer, not with the parent.

The practical consequence is that the useful question is never "should we get a tutor". It is "what do the next eight weeks have to achieve, and is that achievable". Eight weeks before a mock is a different brief from eight weeks before a terminal paper, which is different again from eight weeks after disappointing results when a November resit is on the table. Each one calls for different work: content repair, technique repair, or a narrow push on two specific papers.

This page lays out that calendar counted backwards, the AED cost of buying those weeks in Dubai, and the honest position on home visits. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE. Home visiting is a service we run in India only, and every UAE lesson is one-to-one live video. We say so early because the alternative is a family booking on a false expectation, and because for exam-block work the online format is the one that actually protects the hours. A session that starts at the booked minute, twice a week, for eight weeks, is fifteen hours. The same arrangement with a thirty-minute drive at each end loses several of those hours to Al Khail Road before anybody opens a paper.

One more calendar fact shapes revision in this community specifically. The Dubai academic year runs from late August or early September to late June or early July, and Ramadan moves earlier by roughly eleven days each year, which means the weeks it overlaps with mock season shift from one year to the next. Families here plan around shortened school days and post-Iftar study, and a tutoring block written without reference to that is a block that will lose sessions. We build the schedule around it rather than discovering it in week three, and we hold the slot rather than quietly dropping it.

Figures and timetable references on this page were reviewed in October 2026. Where a date can be revised, link and read the official timetable rather than trusting any restatement of it, including ours. Pearson in particular publishes provisional timetables for sessions a year ahead and then revises them, so the live PDF on the Pearson support site is the only version worth planning against.

Cambridge IGCSE

Cambridge IGCSE subjects are mostly tiered into Core and Extended, with Core capped at grade C and Extended reaching A*. Syllabus codes matter: 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology. Assessment is linear, sat at the end of the course, with practical or alternative-to-practical papers in the sciences. Grading in the UAE is generally reported on the A*-G scale.

Cambridge allocates every UAE centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, warning it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam otherwise. Your child's exams officer knows the zone. Ask for it in writing before planning revision around any published date.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Pearson International GCSE uses 4-prefix codes such as 4MA1 Mathematics A, 4PH1 Physics and 4CH1 Chemistry, graded 9-1. Mathematics A is tiered Foundation and Higher; the sciences are untiered. Pearson offers some subjects in a modular pattern where units can be sat across sessions, which changes revision planning entirely compared with a single terminal run.

Pearson publishes provisional timetables well ahead of each series, including International GCSE sessions a year out, and revises them. For a Production City family this means the timetable to plan against is the live PDF on the Pearson support site, and the resit decision in January is informed by results that reached November 2025 students on 22 January 2026.

AS and A Level progression

Most Dubai British-curriculum schools move students from IGCSE into AS and A Level at 16, usually requiring specific IGCSE grades for entry to each subject. Mathematics and the sciences typically need grade 6 or B as a minimum, and the step up in abstraction between IGCSE Extended and AS is the steepest most students will have met.

For UAE Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, students must show five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus one A Level at no less than E or two AS Levels at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. Verify current rules on moe.gov.ae.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma progression

A proportion of Production City IGCSE students move into the IB Diploma rather than A Levels, usually at a different campus. The Diploma asks for six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Breadth replaces the narrowing most IGCSE students expect at sixteen.

The transition subjects that cause the most trouble locally are Mathematics and the sciences, because IGCSE Extended does not cover the calculus or the uncertainty treatment a Higher Level course assumes from week one. Families here often book a short summer block between Year 11 and DP1 specifically to close that gap.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IGCSE subjects Production City and Jebel Ali families most often ask about near an exam series, with the component where the marks are usually lost. Each is board-specific in practice, so the tutor is matched to the board as well as the subject.

Mathematics

Core and Extended, or Foundation and Higher

Cambridge 0580 Extended and Pearson 4MA1 Higher both reward method marks for visible working. Algebraic manipulation, bounds and vectors cause most of the damage. Students who answer mentally and write only the answer lose marks they had already earned in their heads.

Physics

Core and Extended

Cambridge 0625 and Pearson 4PH1. Electricity, moments and the equations of motion are where grades are decided. The common failure is describing an outcome without naming the principle, which scores nothing on an explain question however correct the description is.

Chemistry

Core and Extended

Cambridge 0620 and Pearson 4CH1. Moles and stoichiometry, electrolysis and organic chemistry carry the paper. Students lose marks on state symbols, on unbalanced equations, and on failing to show the calculation steps the mark scheme awards separately from the answer.

Biology

Core and Extended

Cambridge 0610 and Pearson 4BI1. The content volume is the problem rather than its difficulty. Transport in plants, homeostasis and genetics generate the most lost marks, and command-term discipline matters: describe, explain and suggest each buy different things.

English Language

First Language and Second Language

Cambridge 0500 and 0510, Pearson 4EA1. Directed writing and the summary question are the most teachable components in the whole qualification, because both are governed by a structure that can be learned in a handful of sessions once a student sees the mark scheme.

Economics

IGCSE

Cambridge 0455 and Pearson 4EC1. Diagram accuracy decides the grade: a correctly labelled, correctly shifted diagram with analysis attached scores where prose alone does not. Data response questions need figures quoted from the extract, not paraphrased.

Business Studies

IGCSE

Cambridge 0450 and Pearson 4BS1. Evaluation marks are the bottleneck. Students describe advantages and disadvantages competently and then do not reach a justified judgement, which is where the top band sits in every extended-answer rubric.

Computer Science

IGCSE

Cambridge 0478 and Pearson 4CP0. Paper 1 theory covers data representation, hardware, networks and security; the programming component rewards pseudocode discipline. Trace tables and binary conversion are high-frequency, high-return topics close to an exam.

Arabic

First Language and Foreign Language

Cambridge 0508 first language and 0544 foreign language. For Dubai students this sits alongside KHDA's mandatory Arabic requirement, and the two are not the same syllabus. Families frequently need support on the school's mandatory stream as well as the examined IGCSE.

Additional Mathematics

IGCSE

Cambridge 0606. Taken by stronger mathematicians as a bridge to AS, covering early calculus, trigonometric identities and series. It is the single most useful preparation for A Level Mathematics available at sixteen, and the cohort taking it is small enough that specialist tutors are scarce locally.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three patterns, chosen by how far away the exam is. The mistake families make is booking an open-ended weekly arrangement when the calendar called for a defined eight-week block, or the reverse.

The eight-week block before a mock or a terminal paper

Two sessions a week for eight weeks, with a fixed end date. The first session each week repairs content; the second is a timed paper marked against the published mark scheme, with an error log carried forward. Sixteen sessions is enough to move technique reliably and not enough to drift, which is exactly why the end date is written in at the start.

  • Diagnostic paper in week one, before any teaching, to find the real gap
  • One content session and one timed paper session each week
  • Running error log, reviewed at week four and week eight
  • Defined finish, so nothing renews quietly after the exam

Weekly across the Year 10 and Year 11 course

One session a week through the two-year course, tracking the school's own scheme of work. This is the pattern that prevents the eight-week panic rather than treating it. The tutor arrives knowing what the school taught last week and what the next school assessment covers, so the hour is spent ahead of the problem rather than behind it.

  • Session plan follows your child's school assessment calendar
  • Topic consolidation while it is still being taught, not a year later
  • Short written note after each session on what was covered and set
  • Slot held through school trips and exam leave

The January resit decision block

A short, narrow block for a student weighing a November resit after summer results, or a Pearson candidate who has January results in hand. The work is specific: identify which two or three papers actually moved the grade, and target only those. Resit planning is the clearest case in the whole calendar for buying a small number of hours rather than a package.

  • Paper-by-paper breakdown of where the grade was lost
  • Entry deadline confirmed with the school's exams officer first
  • Targeted work on the two papers with the most recoverable marks
  • Honest advice when a resit is not the right decision

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Production City

01

The IGCSE calendar counted backwards, for a UAE candidate

Start with the series, then count. A Production City candidate sitting Cambridge IGCSE sits the June series; November is the resit route. There is no February or March series available to UAE candidates, that series being offered to India only. A Pearson Edexcel International GCSE candidate sits May/June or November, and the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026.

From the exam window, every other date moves backwards and is set by somebody other than the parent. The final entry deadline sits with the school's exams officer, months ahead. Coursework or practical assessment windows sit earlier still. Mocks are internal and usually land in the winter term for a June candidate, which is the first honest signal of where a student actually is rather than where their classwork suggests they are.

Results then set the next decision. Pearson's June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026; November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those two dates are why the resit conversation in this community happens twice a year, in late August and in late January, and why an eight-week block starting in September or February is the most commonly booked thing we do.

One operational warning worth repeating. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states plainly that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Ask your school which zone it sits in, and read that timetable rather than a generic one.

What eight weeks of tutoring costs in Dubai, and what it buys

Price the block, not the hour. An eight-week block at two sessions a week is sixteen hours. At the Dubai market band for a qualified IGCSE subject tutor online, roughly AED 150-300 an hour, that is AED 2,400 to AED 4,800 for the whole intervention. At the in-home band of roughly AED 180-350, the same block is AED 2,880 to AED 5,600, and the difference is the car.

Seeing it as a block changes the decision in a useful way. A monthly package of AED 799 for eight online sessions, a figure seen on competitor package pages in October 2026, looks cheap per session until you ask what the eight sessions are for. Sixteen targeted hours with a defined outcome is a better purchase than forty unfocused ones, and it is also easier to stop.

The figures below are the Dubai market, drawn from competitor pages and the Bestimate 2026 Dubai rate table and read in October 2026. They are not IB Gram prices. Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200; EdFlik lists from AED 45-65 for budget online; TutorChase quotes AED 270; BartyED quotes AED 650 at the premium end. Three of the six main competitor pages in our research publish no price at all.

What the money does not buy is worth stating. It does not buy a grade, and we will not promise one. Sixteen hours of specialist teaching in the right eight weeks reliably improves technique, exam pacing and command-term reading, which is where most recoverable marks sit. It does not substitute for two years of content a student did not learn.

Why a home visit costs the exam block hours it cannot afford

In an eight-week block, hours are the scarce resource, and a home visit spends them in a place no mark scheme rewards. A tutor travelling to Production City from the Al Barsha or Motor City campuses faces twenty minutes off-peak and closer to forty between five and seven, which is exactly the window a Year 11 student is available. Over sixteen sessions that is a substantial amount of time priced into your invoice and none of it is teaching.

The second cost is reliability. A block only works if the sessions actually happen on schedule, because each one builds on the error log from the last. A cancelled session in week five of eight is not one lesson lost; it breaks the sequence. Road closures on the Expo corridor, a late school bus, a sandstorm afternoon: each becomes a cancellation when the lesson depends on somebody arriving.

The third is the pool. The narrower the requirement, the worse the local map performs. Additional Mathematics 0606, Pearson modular units, Arabic as a first language: these have small cohorts, and a tutor who both knows the syllabus and will drive to IMPZ in the evening may simply not exist. Online, the requirement is subject knowledge and a shared hour.

IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE, so this is not a sales comparison between two things we sell. It is the reason we do not sell one of them here. Independent home tutors work in this area and for a younger child who needs physical supervision they can be the right answer. For a Year 11 exam block, the format that protects the hours is the one that does not require a journey.

What eight weeks can realistically achieve, subject by subject

  • Week one is diagnostic: a timed paper before any teaching, to find the real gap
  • Technique-led subjects such as Mathematics and English move fastest in a short block
  • Science blocks should target two or three topics, never the whole syllabus
  • Evaluation bands in Economics and Business Studies are the most commonly missed easy marks
  • No tutor should promise a specific grade from a fixed number of hours

The honest answer differs by subject, and any provider who gives you one number for all of them is selling rather than teaching. Technique-heavy components move fast. Content-heavy ones do not, because there is no way to compress two years of biology terminology into sixteen hours and no tutor should claim otherwise.

Mathematics responds quickly, because a large share of lost marks are method marks the student had already earned mentally and did not write down. Teaching a student to show bounds, to set out an algebraic rearrangement line by line, and to read whether a question wants an exact value or three significant figures is the work of a few sessions and it is worth marks across every paper.

English Language responds quickly for the opposite reason: the directed writing and summary tasks are governed by a structure. Once a student sees what the mark scheme is actually counting, their output changes within two or three sessions. Economics and Business Studies move on evaluation technique, which is the specific band most students never reach despite knowing the content.

The sciences are slower and more selective. Electricity in Physics, moles in Chemistry and genetics in Biology are each worth targeting individually, and a sensible eight-week plan picks two or three topics rather than attempting the syllabus. That is a decision made with a past paper and a highlighter in week one, not with a brochure. A student who tries to revise all of Cambridge 0620 in sixteen hours will cover everything shallowly and recover nothing.

05

Cambridge or Pearson: find out which one your child is actually sitting

A surprising number of Dubai parents do not know which board their child is entered under, and in a school running both it can differ by subject. It matters because the papers differ. Cambridge Mathematics 0580 is tiered Core and Extended with Core capped at grade C; Pearson Mathematics A 4MA1 is tiered Foundation and Higher and graded 9-1. A past paper from the wrong board is practice for an exam your child is not taking.

The sciences differ further. Cambridge 0625 Physics offers a practical paper and an alternative-to-practical route, and which one a school enters candidates for changes what needs practising. Pearson's International GCSE sciences are untiered. Pearson also offers some subjects in a modular pattern where units can be sat across sessions, and that single structural fact reshapes a revision plan more than any teaching method does.

Grading scales add confusion on a report card. A student with 9-1 grades in two subjects and A*-G in three is not inconsistent; they are entered with two boards. For UAE Ministry of Education equivalency, the sourced rule refers to five accredited subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, which covers both scales.

The practical step is a one-line email to the exams officer asking for the board, syllabus code and tier for every subject, in writing. Take that list to any tutoring conversation. We match tutors to the board as well as the subject, and the first thing we ask for is that list.

Permits, KHDA and the questions to ask before you book anyone

  • Ask the tutor whether they hold the MoHRE private tuition permit and when it expires
  • Ask which board, syllabus code and tier they teach, and ask to see a marked paper
  • KHDA school inspection reports are public and free to read
  • No official fine schedule for unpermitted tutoring exists; distrust any quoted amount
  • IB Gram holds no regulator approval and has no premises in the UAE

Dubai's private schools are regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, described by u.ae as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. KHDA inspects annually and publishes a rating from Outstanding to Very Weak. Those reports are free and public, and worth reading before a Year 10 transfer decision.

Individual tutors are a different matter. A MoHRE private tuition work permit is required, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's service page is Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, with a two-working-day completion time via the MoHRE app, website or e-services system.

u.ae states that individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No schedule of fines is published anywhere official, so any specific figure quoted to you is unverified and should be treated as such. One further point relevant to Abu Dhabi families reading this: ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school.

IB Gram is not KHDA approved, ADEK approved, Cambridge accredited or Pearson approved, and holds no KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is a specific licence for training institutes with physical premises. We have no UAE office. Ask any provider which permit they mean when they describe themselves as approved, because the phrase is used loosely in this market.

07

Coursework, practicals and the line a tutor must not cross

  • Tutors teach practical technique on paper: design, variables, error, evaluation
  • Laboratory hours remain the school's responsibility and cannot be replaced online
  • No syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes are reproduced or supplied by us
  • Assessed work is written by the student, with feedback only on their own drafts
  • Any provider offering completed coursework is exposing the student, not themselves

IGCSE carries less assessed coursework than it once did, but practical assessment, controlled components and school-set projects still exist, and the honesty rules around them are the same as at Diploma level. A tutor teaches the skill and gives feedback on the student's own work. A tutor does not produce it.

On practicals specifically, a common question from Production City families is whether online tuition can prepare a student for a laboratory paper. It can, for the parts that are examined: experimental design, variable control, tabulating results, calculating gradients, identifying sources of error and evaluating a method. Those are paper skills and they are where the marks are. What online tuition cannot do is substitute for time holding a burette, which is the school's job and which schools do.

We also do not reproduce or supply Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables. Those are copyright material. Our tutors reference the official source, link to it, and work with papers the student or school already holds legitimately.

One competitor in our research sells completed Internal Assessments. That market exists at IGCSE level too, under other names. Buying a piece of assessed work puts the student at risk of a malpractice finding, and the consequence falls on the child rather than the seller. We state this plainly on every page because the search results a worried parent sees in week six of eight do not, and because a parent under deadline pressure is exactly who those operators are written for.

08

Starting an eight-week block this week

  • Send subject, board, tier and the next assessment date to start
  • Free trial lesson first, then a written note on what the tutor found
  • Diagnostic timed paper in week one, before the plan is written
  • Checkpoint at week four, defined finish at week eight, no automatic renewal
  • Tutor location and availability disclosed before any payment

The sequence is short. Send the subject, the board, the tier and the date of the next assessment. We match one specialist in that subject on that board. You take a free trial lesson, which is a real teaching hour on whatever the student is currently stuck on, and you decide afterwards. If the match is wrong, we rematch once at no charge.

Week one of the block is a diagnostic paper under timed conditions before any teaching happens, because a plan built on a report card is a plan built on an average. The paper shows which topics and which question types are costing marks, and the eight-week plan is written from that. Week four is a checkpoint and week eight is the end, with no quiet renewal.

On availability, we tell you the truth rather than filling the slot. Some combinations are thin in the exam term, particularly Additional Mathematics, Arabic as a first language, and anything needing a 5:30pm Gulf Standard Time slot in the four weeks before a series. If the first specialist opening is a week away, we say so and we say the date. If your tutor is based outside the UAE and teaching into Gulf Standard Time, we tell you before you book.

During Ramadan, sessions move to post-Iftar timing as a normal request and the slot is held. What we will not do, in Production City or anywhere else in the UAE, is send a tutor to your door. That service runs in India only, and an eight-week block is precisely the case where the journey would cost you the hours you are buying.

Where we tutor

Where Production City students come home from, and when

Session timing in this cluster is set by the bus, so these notes are about the school run rather than the architecture. Each is a community a Production City family is routinely grouped with when a tutor plans an evening.

Dubai Production City (IMPZ)

No secondary campus inside the community. Year 11 students are typically home between four and half past four, which puts a workable session at 5:30pm or later on a weekday.

Dubai Investments Park

Holds Greenfield International School on site, so some DIP students are home by four. Shorter run, earlier session, and the one nearby community where a 4:45pm start is realistic.

Al Furjan

Arbor School sits inside the community and metro access is good. Families here often run a split timetable, with a primary child home early and a Year 11 sibling home an hour later.

Discovery Gardens

Dense clusters with contested visitor parking, which is why an in-home tutor's last three minutes often take as long as the previous fifteen. Online sessions remove that variable entirely.

Jebel Ali

The Winchester School Jebel Ali and Delhi Private School Dubai serve this area, both large and both on long bus routes. Evening availability here is tight and books out early in the exam term.

Dubai South and Emaar South

Long distances between residential pockets and limited campus provision inside them. Students here have the longest bus day in the cluster, and a 6pm start is often the first honest slot.

Green Community

Low-density enclave within Dubai Investments Park with a single main access route. Pleasant to live in, awkward to reach between five and seven on a weekday.

Motor City and Sports City

Directly north of Production City across Al Khail Road, and where several Production City families' children actually attend school. Ten minutes on a Sunday morning, thirty on a Tuesday evening.

The nearest ring of campuses to Production City and where much of its IGCSE cohort studies. Predominantly British curriculum at secondary with sixth-form routes, which makes Cambridge and Edexcel entry questions the most common ones we field from this area.

  • GEMS Metropole School Motor City
  • Greenfield International School
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • Renaissance School Dubai
  • Dubai Heights Academy
  • Bradenham Preparatory School

Jebel Ali, Al Furjan and the southern corridor

Large established campuses serving Jebel Ali, Discovery Gardens, Al Furjan and Dubai South. A mix of British and Indian curriculum at secondary, so a single household sometimes has one child on IGCSE and one on CBSE in the same term.

  • The Winchester School Jebel Ali
  • Delhi Private School Dubai
  • Arbor School
  • The Apple International School
  • Bright Riders School
  • Fairgreen International School

Schools are named as the educational context families in this area work within. IB Gram claims no affiliation, partnership or endorsement from any school listed here.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the board, not just the subject

Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 are different exams. Tell us the subject, the syllabus code if you have it, the tier and the next assessment date, and the match becomes specific rather than approximate. Your school's exams officer can confirm all four in one email, and it is worth having in writing.

  2. 02

One matched specialist on that board

You get one named tutor who teaches that subject on that board at that tier, with their background and where they are based. Not a shortlist of five profiles to compare, because in the weeks before a series a week spent choosing is a week not spent on papers.

  3. 03

    Diagnostic paper before the plan

The free trial is a teaching hour. The first paid session is a timed past paper under exam conditions, marked against the published mark scheme. The eight-week plan is written from what that paper shows, which is routinely different from what the school report implied.

  4. 04

Two sessions a week, fixed slot, fixed end

One content session and one timed-paper session each week, at times that survive the Production City bus timetable, usually from 5:30pm Gulf Standard Time. The block has a written finish date so it concludes rather than drifts, and nothing renews unless you ask.

  5. 05

    Week four checkpoint

Halfway through, we look at the error log and decide whether the plan still holds. If the diagnostic underestimated a gap, the remaining sessions change shape. If the student has moved faster than expected, the back half shifts to paper volume rather than content.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The calendar drives the plan

We ask for the series and the next assessment date before anything else, because eight weeks before a mock and eight weeks before a terminal paper call for different work. No competitor page in our research names a single exam series, deadline or results date, which is why their advice cannot be timed.

Board-specific teaching

A tutor matched to Cambridge 0625 is not interchangeable with one who teaches Pearson 4PH1. Tiering, grading scale, practical routes and modular options all differ. We match on board and tier as well as subject, and we ask for the syllabus code at the first conversation.

Blocks with an end date

An eight-week block is sixteen hours with a written finish. That is easier to judge, easier to budget and easier to stop than an open-ended monthly arrangement. Market monthly packages run from AED 799 for eight online sessions; a defined block is usually the better purchase.

Prices published with their source

Every AED band on this page carries the competitor or rate table it came from and the month it was read. Three of the six main competitor pages in our research publish no price at all and two quote USD, which is not a currency UAE families transact in.

Hours protected, not spent on the road

In a short block the scarce resource is time. Online delivery means every booked hour is a taught hour and the sequence survives a late bus or a closed slip road. We do not offer UAE home visits, and in an exam block that is a feature rather than a limitation.

No grade promises

We will not tell you sixteen hours produces a grade 7. Technique, pacing and command-term reading improve reliably in a short block, and those hold most of the recoverable marks. Content a student never learned across two years does not compress into eight weeks, and saying so is the only honest position.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Production City: your questions answered

Is eight weeks enough time to change my child's IGCSE grade?+

It depends entirely on which subject and which marks are missing. Technique-led components move fast: Mathematics method marks, English directed writing structure, and the evaluation bands in Economics and Business Studies all respond within a few sessions because they are governed by a mark scheme a student can learn to read. Content gaps move slowly, and two years of unlearned biology terminology will not compress into sixteen hours. We find out which it is with a timed diagnostic paper in week one rather than guessing from a report card, and we tell you honestly what the block can and cannot reach.

Does my Production City child sit the June or the November series?+

For Cambridge IGCSE, the June series, with November available as the resit route. The February and March series is offered to India only, so it does not apply to a UAE candidate. For Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, May/June or November; the November 2026 final timetable ran to 19 November 2026. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that using the wrong zone timetable is the candidate's risk, so ask your exams officer which zone your school sits in and read that specific timetable rather than a general one.

Do you send a tutor to our home in Dubai Production City?+

No. IB Gram delivers all UAE lessons as one-to-one live video, and home visiting is a service we run in India only. Independent home tutors do work in this area, with Dubai market rates for in-home one-to-one running roughly AED 180-350 an hour. In an eight-week exam block, the arithmetic argues against the visit: a tutor travelling to IMPZ between five and seven faces thirty to forty minutes each way, that time is priced into your rate, and a late bus or a closed road turns a session into a cancellation that breaks the sequence.

What will an eight-week block cost us in total?+

Price it as sixteen hours rather than per session. At the Dubai market band for a qualified IGCSE subject tutor online, roughly AED 150-300 an hour, the block runs AED 2,400 to AED 4,800. A specialist at AED 200-450 takes it to AED 3,200 to AED 7,200. In-home equivalents sit higher because travel is in the rate. Those figures come from competitor pages and the Bestimate 2026 Dubai rate table, read in October 2026, and they describe the market rather than our price list. We begin with a free trial lesson and a conversation about how many hours the goal needs.

How do I find out whether my child is on Cambridge or Pearson?+

Email the school's exams officer and ask for the board, syllabus code and tier for every subject, in writing. In a school running both, it genuinely differs by subject, which is why a report card can show 9-1 grades beside A*-G grades without any error. It matters because the papers differ: Cambridge 0580 Mathematics is tiered Core and Extended with Core capped at grade C, while Pearson 4MA1 is Foundation and Higher on a 9-1 scale. Revising from the wrong board's past papers is practice for an exam nobody is sitting.

My child's results were disappointing in August. Should they resit in November?+

Only after a paper-level breakdown, not a grade-level one. Ask the school for the component marks, then identify which one or two papers actually moved the overall grade and whether the recoverable marks sit in technique or in content. Technique is worth a resit; two missing years of content usually is not. Entry deadlines sit months before the series and are handled by the exams officer, so confirm the deadline before planning anything. For Pearson candidates the January results date matters too: November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026.

Can online tuition prepare a student for the IGCSE practical papers?+

For the examined parts, yes. What a practical or alternative-to-practical paper assesses is experimental design, variable control, tabulating and processing results, calculating gradients, identifying error sources and evaluating a method. All of that is paper work and all of it is teachable over video, usually faster than in a lab because nothing has to be set up. What online tuition cannot replace is the hours a student spends physically handling apparatus, which remains the school's responsibility. Check with the exams officer which practical route your child is entered for, because that changes what to prioritise.

What time can sessions start for a Year 11 student living in IMPZ?+

Realistically from about 5:30pm Gulf Standard Time. There is no secondary campus inside Dubai Production City, so students bus to Motor City, Dubai Investments Park, Al Barsha or Jebel Ali and are typically home between four and half past, needing food and a break before anything useful happens. Families in Dubai South and Emaar South often need 6pm or later. Because the session is online it starts at the booked minute rather than when a tutor arrives, which is what makes a tight evening workable twice a week for eight weeks.

For MoE equivalency, is it five or six accredited IGCSE subjects?+

Five. Gulf Today reported in July 2026 that students on the British track must present five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. One competitor ranking for these queries states six subjects are required, which does not match the published rule. Verify current requirements on moe.gov.ae before relying on any summary, including this one.

Does Pearson's modular option change how we should plan revision?+

Considerably. Where a subject is offered modularly, units can be sat across different sessions rather than in one terminal run, which means revision is sequenced unit by unit rather than built to a single peak. That is a genuine advantage for a student who struggles to hold a full syllabus in view, and a disadvantage for one who needs the pressure of a single deadline to work. Pearson publishes provisional timetables well ahead of each series and revises them, so plan against the live official timetable PDF and confirm the entry pattern with your exams officer.

Are private tutors in Dubai required to hold a licence?+

Yes. Individuals offering private lessons in the UAE need a MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service page lists a two-working-day completion time through its app, website or e-services system. u.ae states that tutoring without a permit attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no fine schedule is published.

Across the Jebel Ali corridor, which IGCSE papers cost the most marks?+

In our experience across the Jebel Ali and Dubai South corridor, the recurring four are Physics electricity, Chemistry moles and stoichiometry, Mathematics algebraic manipulation with bounds, and the evaluation bands in Business Studies. Three of those four are technique problems rather than knowledge problems, which is why they respond well to a short block. Additional Mathematics 0606 is a fifth, taken by a small cohort as a bridge to AS Level, and it is the subject where local specialist tutors are genuinely scarce because the number of students sitting it in any one community is small.

Will a tutor help with school-set coursework or projects?+

A tutor will teach the skills the work assesses, explain what the criteria actually reward, question the approach before weeks are wasted on it, and give feedback on drafts the student wrote. A tutor will not write, rewrite or complete any part of it. The line is authorship, and it is not negotiable. Operators in this same search sell finished assessed work; buying it exposes the student to a malpractice finding and the consequence falls on the child. We also do not reproduce or supply board syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes, which are copyright material.

Can we pause the block during half-term or a family trip?+

Yes, and in an eight-week block it is better to shift a session than to skip it, because each lesson builds on the error log from the previous one. Because the sessions are online they also follow the laptop, so a week in another time zone usually means a different clock time rather than a cancellation. During Ramadan, moving to post-Iftar slots is a normal request and the tutor and slot are held. Tell us the dates when the block is planned and the schedule is built around them from the start.

What if you have no tutor free in my child's subject before the series?+

We tell you, with a date. In the four weeks before a series, 5:30pm Gulf Standard Time slots are the first to go, and some combinations are thin year-round: Additional Mathematics, Arabic as a first language, and board-specific modular units. Rather than putting a generalist in front of your child we say when the specialist is actually available, which is sometimes more than a week away. If the specialist is based outside the UAE and teaching into Gulf Standard Time, we tell you that before you book rather than after.

Is it worth starting weekly tuition in Year 10 instead of waiting?+

For most students, yes, and it is usually cheaper overall. One session a week through Year 10 and Year 11 tracks the school's own scheme of work, so topics are consolidated while they are still being taught rather than reconstructed eighteen months later. That pattern prevents the eight-week emergency rather than treating it. The eight-week block exists because families often arrive after the mock, and it works, but it costs more per mark recovered than two years of steady weekly work on a fixed slot would have.

Start from the date, then decide

Find out the series, the board and the tier, and get them in writing from the exams officer. Then count backwards: entry deadline, practical window, mock, paper. Whatever number of weeks is left is the real brief, and it tells you whether this is a weekly arrangement through Year 10 or a sixteen-hour block with a diagnostic paper in week one. Either way, the hours are the thing to protect, which is why Production City lessons run online on Gulf Standard Time rather than behind a windscreen on Al Khail Road. Book a free trial lesson and start with one honest hour of teaching.
