IB Tutor near me in Dubai Production City

Typing "IB tutor near me in Dubai Production City" into Google returns a list sorted by distance. Distance is not what decides a Diploma grade. Command terms, Paper 3 structure, uncertainty treatment and the Internal Assessment criteria decide it. This page is written around those, for families in Dubai Production City and the Jebel Ali corridor, and IB Gram teaches every UAE student one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Production City

"Near me" is the wrong filter for a Diploma subject

A search for an IB tutor near Dubai Production City sorts results by how far somebody lives from IMPZ. That is a useful filter for a plumber. For a Diploma subject it filters on the one variable that has no bearing on the grade. What has a bearing is whether the person in front of your child knows that Paper 3 in Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL is twenty per cent of the grade and two extended problems, or that an explain question in Physics scores nothing for describing an outcome without naming the principle behind it.

There is no IB World School inside Dubai Production City. Students bus out to Greenfield International School in Dubai Investments Park, to the Al Barsha ring, or to Fairgreen International School to the south. That means the pool of Diploma teachers who happen to live within fifteen minutes of IMPZ is small to begin with, and it thins out sharply the moment you need Chemistry at Higher Level rather than Maths at Standard.

So this page answers the search by subject rather than by geography. What the current syllabus actually contains, which components carry the weight, where the mark schemes catch students, what the Internal Assessment criteria ask for by letter, and what a sensible past-paper programme looks like. Those are the things a parent can judge a tutor on in the first twenty minutes of a trial lesson, and they are checkable in a way that a profile photograph is not.

Delivery is online, one-to-one, over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visiting is a service we run in India only. On a subject page that is not a limitation to apologise for. Subject precision is the entire argument: a Production City family working on Chemistry HL energetics should be taught by a chemist who marks energetics, and asking that person to also be within a twenty-minute drive of IMPZ at six in the evening narrows the field to almost nobody.

Everything below was reviewed in October 2026. We do not publish IB session or results dates, because the IB's own site blocks automated verification and a date a parent plans around has to be right. Confirm exact windows with your school's IB coordinator or on ibo.org. What we can set out safely is the syllabus structure, the component weightings and the assessment criteria, because those are published in the subject guides your child's school already holds and they do not change between one year and the next. Those are also the only things in this market that a parent can check for themselves, which is why the whole page is built on them rather than on claims about our tutors.

At a glance

  • No IB World School sits inside Production City; the nearest IB continuum campus is in Dubai Investments Park
  • Every Diploma subject carries an internally assessed component, typically a fifth to a quarter of the grade
  • Mathematics AA HL Paper 3 is two extended problems worth roughly a fifth of the grade
  • TOK and the Extended Essay together contribute up to three of the 45 points
  • Dubai market rate for an IB Diploma specialist runs roughly AED 200-450 an hour
  • IB Gram delivers UAE lessons online one-to-one; UAE home visits are not offered
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three IB programmes matter to families in this cluster, and the subject demands differ sharply between them. The Diploma is where syllabus precision pays most, because it is the only one with external papers.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects across six groups, three Higher and three Standard, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject has externally assessed papers and an internally assessed component. The internal piece is usually worth twenty to twenty-five per cent and is completed during the course, which makes it the most controllable part of the grade.

Production City Diploma students commute, and the long bus day compresses the usable study window into the evening. The practical consequence for subject work is that past-paper sessions need to be shorter and more frequent rather than long Saturday blocks, because a tired student working through a three-hour paper learns less than one doing two questions properly.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups, each assessed against four criteria scored one to eight and converted to a 1-7 grade by published boundaries. The criteria are labelled by letter rather than topic: in the sciences, Criterion B is inquiring and designing and Criterion D is reflecting on the impacts of science. Communication marks, not content marks, are where most are lost.

Because the MYP has no external examination, a Production City student entering DP1 has usually never sat a three-hour paper. The first Diploma mock then reads like a content failure when it is a pacing failure. Subject work in the final MYP year should introduce timed conditions and command-term reading before the Diploma does it abruptly.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Six transdisciplinary themes, continuous assessment, no external examination. The subject-specific work that pays off later is narrower than parents expect: number fluency, reading stamina and the ability to write a paragraph that answers the question asked. Those three carry directly into the MYP criteria and then into Diploma papers.

PYP children from Production City are on early buses to Dubai Investments Park, Motor City or Al Barsha, so evening attention is limited. Short, frequent online sessions work far better at this age than a single long one, and a parent in the room for the first ten minutes makes a measurable difference to how the hour goes.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Eight Diploma subjects, with the syllabus content that carries the weight and the specific place the mark scheme catches students. These are the subjects Production City and Jebel Ali families request most, and the notes are the ones we would open a trial lesson with.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Proof by induction, calculus and complex numbers at HL. Paper 3 is two extended problems worth roughly a fifth of the grade and rewards starting an unfamiliar structure. The mark-scheme trap is method: an unjustified line loses marks a correct final answer cannot recover, because method marks are awarded separately.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics, modelling, matrices and graph theory at HL. The graphical display calculator is assumed throughout, and students lose marks for not showing which test they ran or which regression model they fitted. Interpreting a p-value in context, rather than reporting it, is where the top band sits.

Physics

HL and SL

Five themes with HL extensions since the 2023 syllabus. Paper 1 splits into multiple choice and a data-analysis section; Paper 2 is extended response. The trap is uncertainty: students quote a value without propagating error, and lose the analysis marks the data section exists to award.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Structure and reactivity as two integrated strands. Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms carry the papers. The trap is mechanistic notation: a correct product with no curly arrows, no lone pair shown and no intermediate scores a fraction of the available marks, however right the chemistry is.

Biology

HL and SL

Unity and diversity, form and function, interaction and interdependence, continuity and change. Command terms do more damage here than anywhere else: outline, explain, distinguish and suggest each buy a different number of marks, and a student writing an essay for a two-mark outline wastes minutes they need later.

Economics

HL and SL

Microeconomics, macroeconomics, the global economy and economic development. Diagrams are the grade. A correctly labelled and correctly shifted diagram with analysis tied to it scores where prose does not. The portfolio of three commentaries, 800 words each, must cover different units and different articles.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 guided analysis of unseen non-literary texts, Paper 2 comparative essay, the individual oral on a global issue, and at HL a 1,200-1,500 word essay. The trap in Paper 1 is answering the guiding question as a comprehension task rather than analysing how the text produces its effect.

Computer Science

HL and SL

System fundamentals, computer organisation, networks, computational thinking, plus HL options such as resource management. The solution development Internal Assessment is a working product with documentation, and scope control decides the mark far more often than coding skill does.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

A 1,600-word essay on one of six prescribed titles and an exhibition of three objects with 950 words of commentary. The common failure is writing about the objects rather than about how they illustrate a knowledge question, which is what the assessment instrument actually asks for.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three subject-work patterns. Which one applies depends on whether the problem is syllabus content, exam technique, or an Internal Assessment that has stalled.

Syllabus repair, weekly

One session a week working forward through the subject guide alongside the school's scheme of work. Used when a student has genuine content gaps: the student who never understood logarithms and is now meeting them inside calculus, or who missed the equilibrium unit during a family absence. The tutor works from the published syllabus structure, not a generic textbook order.

  • Mapped against the current subject guide and the school's teaching order
  • Prior-knowledge gaps closed before the current topic is attempted
  • Short written note after each session naming the topic and what was set
  • Fixed weekly slot from 5:30pm Gulf Standard Time for commuting students

Past-paper and mark-scheme work

Timed questions marked against the official mark scheme rather than against a model answer, with the student seeing exactly which marks their script earned and which it missed. This is the pattern that moves a 5 to a 6 for a student who already knows the content, and it is almost entirely about command-term reading and answer structure.

  • Questions sat under exam timing, not as homework
  • Marked against the published mark scheme, point by point
  • Running error log, categorised by command term and topic
  • Paper 3 and data-analysis sections practised as their own skill

Internal Assessment supervision

Scheduled sessions through a scientific investigation, Mathematics exploration, Economics portfolio or Computer Science solution, aligned to the school's internal deadlines. The tutor teaches each criterion, questions the research design, and gives feedback on the student's own drafts. The tutor does not write, rewrite or complete any part of the work.

  • Criterion-by-criterion teaching using the published descriptors
  • Research question narrowed before weeks are spent on an unworkable one
  • Method and data interrogated before collection, not after
  • Written record of support given, available if the school asks

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Production City

01

Command terms are the single highest-return thing to teach

Most Diploma students who underperform know more than their script shows. The gap is almost always between what the question asked for and what they supplied, and the instruction is in the first word. State wants a one-line answer with no reasoning. Outline wants a brief account. Explain wants a reason or mechanism. Discuss wants a balanced review with evidence on both sides. Evaluate wants a judgement, which most students never actually make.

The arithmetic is unforgiving. A student who writes a paragraph for a two-mark state question has spent four minutes earning two marks and will run out of time on a six-mark discuss later in the paper. A student who describes what happens when a question says explain scores nothing at all, because the mark scheme awards the principle, not the observation. Both errors are invisible in classwork and lethal in a paper.

This is also the most teachable thing in the Diploma. It takes two or three sessions to make a student fluent at reading the verb, allocating time by mark value, and shaping an answer to the band descriptor. For a student sitting six subjects, the same skill pays in all six, which is why we start past-paper work here rather than with content.

The table below sets out the pattern. Exact command-term definitions are published in each subject guide, and your child's school holds those guides; we work from them rather than from a general list.

COMMAND TERMS AND WHAT EACH ACTUALLY BUYS
Command termWhat the mark scheme wantsTypical mark valueHow students lose it
StateA single fact or value, no reasoning1 markWriting a paragraph and losing time later in the paper
OutlineA brief account, main points only2-3 marksEither too thin to earn both marks or far too long
ExplainA reason or mechanism, named3-4 marksDescribing the outcome instead of naming the principle
DescribeAn account of features or a sequence2-4 marksExplaining why, which earns nothing on a describe question
DiscussBalanced review with evidence both ways6-8 marksOne-sided argument with no counter-position
EvaluateA judgement, justified against criteria6-9 marksListing advantages and disadvantages without concluding
02

Where the weight actually sits, component by component

Parents buy tutoring against a grade, but grades are built from components with very different weights, and effort put into the wrong one is wasted. The pattern worth knowing is that every Diploma subject carries an internally assessed piece completed during the course, worth roughly a fifth to a quarter of the final mark, and that this is the only portion a student can finish calmly months before the exam hall.

In the sciences, the scientific investigation is a single piece of work worth twenty per cent. A student who produces a weak research question in DP1 has capped a fifth of their grade before any revision begins, and no amount of past-paper work in the spring recovers it. In Mathematics, the exploration is also twenty per cent and the same logic applies. In Economics, the portfolio of three commentaries at 800 words each carries a comparable share.

On the external side, the distribution surprises people. Mathematics AA HL has three papers rather than two, and the third is two extended problems that reward a specific skill: reading an unfamiliar structure, extracting what is being asked, and starting. Science Paper 1 now has a data-analysis section that examines a skill rarely taught explicitly, which is reading a graph and treating uncertainty in mark-scheme language.

The practical conclusion for a Production City family is to ask which component is currently weakest before buying hours. The answer is in the school's own subject handbook and in the last report, and it determines whether the sensible purchase is Internal Assessment supervision in DP1 or paper technique in DP2.

03

The Internal Assessment criteria, by letter

  • Read the published criteria before choosing a question, not after writing the draft
  • In the sciences, research design constrains every later criterion
  • Personal engagement in a Mathematics exploration means visible own thinking, not an enjoyable topic
  • Reflection marks need stated limitations, not a restated conclusion
  • A tutor teaches criteria and reviews the student's drafts; a tutor never writes the work

Internal Assessment criteria are published, lettered and specific, and almost no competitor page in this market names a single one. That is odd, because the criteria are the whole instruction. A student who has read them before starting writes a different piece of work from one who reads them at the end, and the difference is usually worth several marks.

In the sciences, the investigation is assessed across criteria covering research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation. Research design is where the piece is won or lost, because a question that cannot produce enough data variation makes every subsequent criterion hard to satisfy. Students pick a question they find interesting rather than one that is measurable, and the marks follow the measurability.

In Mathematics, the exploration is assessed on presentation, mathematical communication, personal engagement, reflection and the use of mathematics. Personal engagement is the one students misunderstand most: it does not mean choosing a topic they enjoy, it means visible evidence of their own thinking and their own decisions in the work. Reflection means saying what the result means and what the limitations are.

Our role here is narrow and it is deliberately narrow. We teach what each criterion asks for, we question whether the chosen question can satisfy it, and we give feedback on the student's own drafts against the descriptors. We do not write, rewrite or complete the work. One operator in our research sells completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750; buying that is a malpractice risk carried by the student, not the seller.

04

A past-paper programme that is not just more papers

  • Topic questions first, whole sections next, full papers last
  • Every attempt timed; untimed practice teaches the wrong habit
  • Marked against the official mark scheme, point by point, not against a model answer
  • Error log categorised by command term, topic and pacing
  • We reference official papers and mark schemes rather than redistributing them

Doing past papers is not a strategy. Doing them under timing, marking them against the published mark scheme rather than against a model answer, and keeping a categorised error log is a strategy. Most students do the first part and skip the other two, which is why their scores plateau after the third paper.

The order matters as well. Questions by topic first, so a student practises the thing they just learned while it is fresh. Then whole sections under timing. Then full papers, late, because a full paper early in the process mostly teaches a student that they cannot do a full paper. For a commuting Production City student with a late evening window, two targeted questions on a Tuesday beat a three-hour paper nobody has energy for.

The error log is the part that actually produces improvement, and it needs categories rather than a list. A student whose errors are eighty per cent command-term misreads has a reading problem. One whose errors concentrate in multi-step mole calculations has a specific content problem. One who runs out of time on Paper 2 every time has a pacing problem. Three completely different interventions, and the log is what distinguishes them.

We do not supply past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables, which are IB copyright material. We work from papers the student or school legitimately holds and we reference the official source. Any provider offering to send you a library of mark schemes is distributing material they do not own.

05

What the subject pool near IMPZ actually looks like

This is the honest answer to the search term. The number of IB Diploma subject specialists living within a short evening drive of Dubai Production City is small, and it is smallest exactly where the need is greatest. Standard Level Mathematics is findable locally. Chemistry at Higher Level with current knowledge of the scientific investigation criteria, available at half past five on a Tuesday, is a much harder ask.

The reason is structural rather than regional. Diploma teachers are concentrated at the campuses that run the Diploma, and those campuses are in Dubai Investments Park, Al Barsha and the southern corridor. A teacher finishing at a campus in Al Barsha at four does not arrive in IMPZ before five, and may be choosing between three families in different communities. The travel premium in the Dubai market, roughly AED 50-150 an hour on published rate differences, is that choice expressed as money.

The same constraint applies with more force to small-cohort subjects. Computer Science HL, Economics HL in the week before a mock, Arabic as a first language at Diploma level: the number of students taking each in any one community is small, so the number of local specialists is smaller. Removing the drive removes the geographic filter and leaves only the subject filter, which is the one that matters.

We also disclose when a specialist is not available rather than substituting. If the first Chemistry HL opening in your preferred slot is nine days away, we say so and give the date. If the specialist is based outside the UAE and teaching into Gulf Standard Time, we say that before you book. No competitor page in our research discloses either.

What subject-level tuition costs in this market

  • Bestimate monthly estimates: AED 240-600 budget, AED 600-1,200 mid, AED 1,000-2,000+ specialist exam year
  • IB Diploma specialist hourly band in Dubai: roughly AED 200-450
  • Monthly packages seen in market: AED 799 for eight online sessions
  • KHDA confirmed no Dubai private school fee increase for the 2026-27 academic year on 22 May 2026
  • All figures read in October 2026 and attributed to the publisher, not presented as our rates

Lead with the monthly figure, because that is what a family budgets. Bestimate's 2026 Dubai estimates for weekly one-hour sessions run AED 240-600 a month at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. A Diploma student with one weekly session in two subjects sits at the upper end of that range for most of DP2.

Converted to hours, the Dubai market bands are these. Budget or university-student tutors at AED 45-150, with EdFlik listing from AED 45-65 and Tutopiya from AED 33-52. Qualified subject tutors online at AED 150-300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. IB specialists at AED 200-450, with TutorChase at AED 270. Premium or examiner-led at AED 500-650 or more, with BartyED at AED 650. All read in October 2026.

Context is worth adding. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in school fees for Dubai private schools for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion. For a family whose school fee is flat, a tutoring decision is a marginal decision rather than a compounding one.

These are market rates, not our prices. We do not publish a price list on these pages; we start with a free trial lesson and a conversation about how many hours the specific goal requires, which for a technique problem is often far fewer than a package assumes.

07

The regulators, the permit, and what to verify

  • KHDA oversees Dubai private schools; ADEK, SPEA, the RAK Department of Knowledge and the MoE cover the other emirates
  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free, valid two years, under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023
  • No official fine schedule for unpermitted tutoring is published
  • ADEK ethics rules bar school staff from tutoring their own enrolled students for payment
  • IB Gram holds no regulator approval, no IB authorisation and no UAE premises

Dubai private schools are overseen by KHDA, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Abu Dhabi has ADEK, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools there; Sharjah has SPEA; Ras Al Khaimah has its Department of Knowledge; and the Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. ADEK is named by none of the competitors in our research, which tells you how shallow this layer of the market is.

For individual tutors, the relevant instrument is the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. The MoHRE service page lists a two-working-day completion time via the app, website or e-services system.

u.ae states that individuals tutoring without a permit face fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so no figure should be quoted to you. Separately, ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar Abu Dhabi school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit carries a code of conduct with a similar restriction.

IB Gram is not IB authorised, KHDA approved, ADEK approved or Cambridge accredited, holds no KHDA Educational Services Permit, and has no UAE office. We explain what each body does and link its own page. On a subject-led page the verification that matters most is simpler: ask the tutor which syllabus version they teach, which mark scheme they last marked against, and to talk you through one question in the trial lesson.

08

Judging a subject tutor in one trial lesson

  • Does the tutor ask for a recent marked script before teaching?
  • Can they explain a specific lost mark in mark-scheme language?
  • Do they refuse to promise a grade when asked directly?
  • Is their answer on Internal Assessment feedback only, never writing?
  • Do they know which syllabus version your child's school is teaching?

A free trial lesson is the only evidence worth having, and twenty minutes of it is enough if you know what to listen for. The first signal is whether the tutor asks for a recent script before teaching anything. A specialist wants to see what the student actually wrote, because that is where the diagnosis is. A generalist asks which topic to cover.

The second signal is mark-scheme language. Ask the tutor what the mark scheme awards for a specific question your child got wrong. A specialist answers in marks and criteria: this line earns the method mark, this one does not, the band descriptor needs a judgement here. Somebody teaching from a textbook answers in content, which sounds competent and does not move a grade.

The third is the honest no. Ask whether they can get your child from a 4 to a 7 by May. The right answer names what is achievable and what is not, and refuses to promise a grade. Anybody who promises a specific score is either misunderstanding how the Diploma is marked or betting your money on it. We do not make grade promises and will say so directly if asked.

The fourth is the coursework boundary. Ask what they would do with a draft Internal Assessment. The answer should be feedback against criteria on work the student wrote. If the answer involves rewriting, supplying text, or producing anything, end the conversation there, because that is the risk sitting on your child's record rather than on the tutor's.

Where we tutor

Where this cluster's Diploma students actually study

Six communities around Production City, noted for what they mean for subject-level support rather than for scenery. The relevant detail is which campus a student attends, because that sets the syllabus version and the internal deadlines.

Dubai Production City (IMPZ)

No IB campus inside the boundary. Diploma students commute to Dubai Investments Park, the Al Barsha ring or Fairgreen to the south, so a single tower can hold three students on three different school assessment calendars.

Dubai Investments Park

Greenfield International School sits here, running the IB continuum. Students at a continuum campus arrive in DP1 having met MYP criteria-based assessment, which changes what subject support they need compared with an IGCSE entrant.

Al Furjan

Arbor School inside the community is British curriculum, so Al Furjan Diploma students are usually travelling further than their neighbours. A strong IGCSE cohort here feeds into DP1 needing calculus and uncertainty work from week one.

Discovery Gardens

Dense apartment clusters with a large expatriate mix. Subject demand here skews to Mathematics and the sciences at Standard Level, and to English A Language and Literature where the individual oral is the pressure point.

Jebel Ali

Served by large British and Indian curriculum campuses, so Diploma students from here are a smaller and more self-selected group. Where they exist, the requests are specific: Chemistry HL, Economics HL, Computer Science.

Dubai South and Emaar South

Fairgreen International School to the east is the nearest IB continuum option. Long journeys mean the evening window is late, which pushes past-paper work into shorter, more frequent sessions.

Green Community

Low-density enclave inside Dubai Investments Park, effectively on Greenfield's doorstep. The shortest school run in this cluster, and the one place where a 4:45pm subject session is genuinely workable.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai Production City

Dubai Investments Park and Motor City

The closest ring of campuses to Production City. Greenfield International School runs the IB continuum; the others are British curriculum with sixth-form routes, which is why IGCSE-to-Diploma subject gaps in Mathematics and the sciences are the most common request from this area.

  • Greenfield International School
  • GEMS Metropole School Motor City
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • Renaissance School Dubai
  • Dubai Heights Academy

Al Barsha, Jumeirah Park and the southern corridor

The second ring, 25 to 40 minutes from IMPZ depending on the hour, holding several established Diploma providers. A Production City student at one of these campuses has a long bus day at both ends, and their subject sessions have to fit after it.

  • Dubai International Academy Al Barsha
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • GEMS World Academy Dubai
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park
  • Fairgreen International School
  • Sunmarke School

Schools are named as the educational context families in this area work within. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement from any school on this page.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Send a recent marked script

Not a report card. A marked paper or a returned Internal Assessment draft tells a specialist more in two minutes than a grade summary does in a meeting. Send the subject, the level, the school and one script, and the first conversation starts from evidence rather than from description.

  2. 02

One specialist, matched to subject and level

You get one named tutor who teaches that subject at that level, with their background and where they are based. Not a shortlist. For small-cohort subjects we tell you the match time honestly, and if it is a week away we give the date rather than offering a substitute who teaches something adjacent.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson on the current sticking point

A real teaching hour on whatever the student is stuck on now, not a consultation. Afterwards you get a short written note on what the tutor found, in component and command-term terms. No card is held and nothing renews. Use the twenty-minute test above while it is happening.

  4. 04

Build the error log from session one

Every timed question goes into a categorised log: command term, topic, pacing. Within three sessions the pattern is visible, and the pattern decides the plan. Most students discover their problem is one of those three categories rather than the broad content weakness they assumed.

  5. 05

    Re-check against the school's calendar

Every four to six weeks we compare the plan with what the school is assessing next. Internal Assessment deadlines move and mocks get brought forward. When they do, the sessions change shape rather than continuing against a plan that no longer describes the term.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

One subject, one level, one tutor

A Chemistry HL student is taught by a chemist who works in Chemistry HL mark schemes, not a science teacher covering three subjects. Removing the drive to IMPZ is what makes that possible, because the local evening pool filters on geography first and subject second.

Mark schemes, not model answers

Work is marked against the official published mark scheme point by point, so a student sees which marks their own script earned. Marking against a model answer teaches a student what a better answer looks like without telling them where their marks went.

Criteria named by letter

Internal Assessment support starts from the published criteria and the descriptors, which no competitor page in our research names at all. A student who reads the criteria before choosing a research question produces a measurably different piece of work from one who reads them at the end.

Coursework boundary stated plainly

We teach criteria, question method and give feedback on the student's own drafts. We never write, rewrite or complete assessed work. One operator in this same search sells finished Internal Assessments; the malpractice consequence falls on the student, which is why we say this on every page.

Availability disclosed, not filled

If no specialist in your subject and slot is free, you get a date. If the tutor is based outside the UAE and teaching into Gulf Standard Time, you know before booking. Both disclosures are absent from every competitor page in our research and both are things a parent should be able to ask.

No grade promises, ever

Technique, command-term reading and pacing improve reliably with specialist teaching, and that is where most recoverable marks sit. A specific final score is not something any tutor can promise, and a provider who does is telling you something about their marketing rather than their teaching.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Production City: your questions answered

Is there actually an IB tutor living near Dubai Production City?+

Some, and fewer than the search results suggest. There is no IB World School inside the community, so Diploma teachers are concentrated at the campuses that run the Diploma, in Dubai Investments Park, Al Barsha and the southern corridor. Standard Level Mathematics is findable locally. Chemistry at Higher Level with current knowledge of the scientific investigation criteria, free at half past five on a weekday, is a much narrower ask. That is why we teach online: it removes the geographic filter and leaves the subject filter, which is the one with any bearing on the grade.

What single change improves my child's Diploma marks fastest?+

Command-term discipline, in almost every case. A student who writes a paragraph for a two-mark state question spends four minutes earning two marks and runs out of time later. A student who describes an outcome when the question says explain scores nothing, because the mark scheme awards the named principle rather than the observation. Both errors are invisible in classwork. Both are fixable in two or three sessions, and the skill transfers across all six subjects, which is why we start past-paper work there rather than with content revision.

How much of a science grade is the scientific investigation worth?+

Around twenty per cent, as a single piece of internally assessed work completed during the course. That makes it the most controllable part of the grade and the easiest to cap accidentally. A weak research question in DP1 constrains the data analysis, the conclusion and the evaluation criteria that follow, and no amount of past-paper work in the spring recovers it. This is why Internal Assessment supervision in DP1 is often a better purchase than exam technique in DP2, and why we ask which component is weakest before suggesting any hours.

What is Paper 3 in Maths AA HL and why does it catch people out?+

It is two extended problem-solving questions, worth roughly a fifth of the Higher Level grade, and it examines a skill the rest of the course does not practise: reading an unfamiliar mathematical structure, working out what is being asked, and starting anyway. Students who have only ever met questions that resemble their textbook freeze on it. The fix is specific practice on starting, not more content. We work through the opening two minutes of unfamiliar problems repeatedly, because that is the part where the paper is won or lost.

Can you explain what the IA criteria letters actually require?+

Yes, and reading them early changes the work substantially. A science investigation is assessed across criteria covering research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation, and research design constrains everything after it: a question that cannot produce enough variation makes the later criteria hard to satisfy. A Mathematics exploration is assessed on presentation, mathematical communication, personal engagement, reflection and use of mathematics, where personal engagement means visible evidence of the student's own thinking rather than an enjoyable topic. We teach the descriptors and give feedback on the student's drafts, and we never write any part.

Does marking against a mark scheme really differ from using a model answer?+

Substantially. A model answer shows a student what a good response looks like. A mark scheme shows them which specific marks their own script earned and which it missed, line by line. The second produces improvement because it is diagnostic; the first mostly produces admiration. Marking properly also reveals the category of the problem: command-term misreads, a specific content gap, or pacing. Those three need completely different interventions, and a student working from model answers will usually guess wrong about which one they have.

How should a commuting student structure past-paper practice?+

Short and frequent rather than long and occasional. A Production City Diploma student on a bus to Al Barsha is home around half past four and has limited evening attention, so two timed questions on a Tuesday are worth more than a three-hour paper on a Saturday nobody has energy for. Sequence matters too: topic questions while the content is fresh, then whole sections under timing, then full papers late in the process. A full paper attempted early mostly teaches a student that they cannot yet sit a full paper.

How many of the 45 points come from the Extended Essay and TOK?+

Up to three points on the 45-point scale, awarded from a published matrix that combines the two grades. Three points crosses most university offer thresholds, and it is earned by writing done in DP1 and the first term of DP2 rather than in the exam hall. The pattern we see in this cluster is a capable science student who treats both as administration, finishes them late, and then spends spring revision time writing what should have been complete in the autumn. Finishing the Extended Essay early is the cheapest grade gain available.

What does Diploma subject tuition cost per month in Dubai?+

Bestimate's 2026 Dubai estimates for weekly one-hour sessions run AED 240-600 a month at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Converted to hours, the IB specialist band sits around AED 200-450, with TutorChase publishing AED 270 and BartyED AED 650 at the premium end. Those are market figures read in October 2026 and attributed to their publishers, not our price list. We start with a free trial lesson and work out how many hours the specific problem actually needs.

My child is in MYP and the criteria letters confuse us both. Help?+

The MYP assesses four criteria per subject, each scored one to eight, converted to a 1-7 grade by published boundaries. The letters refer to skills rather than topics: in the sciences, Criterion B is inquiring and designing and Criterion D is reflecting on the impacts of science. The marks students most often leave behind are communication marks rather than content marks, because they know the answer and present it in a form the descriptor does not reward. Once a student reads the descriptor for the band above theirs, the gap is usually obvious and quick to close.

Can you supply IB mark schemes and grade boundary tables for us?+

No. IB papers, mark schemes, subject guides and grade-boundary tables are copyright material and we do not reproduce or distribute them. We reference the official source, link to it, and work with papers your child or their school already holds legitimately. Any provider offering you a library of mark schemes is distributing material they do not own, which should make you ask what else they are casual about. Your school's subject teachers can supply past papers through the proper channel, and that is the route to use.

How do I check in a trial lesson whether a tutor really knows the syllabus?+

Four questions. Does the tutor ask to see a recent marked script before teaching anything? Can they explain a specific lost mark in mark-scheme language, naming which line earns the method mark? Do they refuse to promise a grade when you ask directly? And what would they do with a draft Internal Assessment, where the only acceptable answer is feedback against criteria on work the student wrote? A specialist passes all four in twenty minutes. Somebody teaching from a textbook will sound competent on content and fail the second.

Do UAE Diploma students sit the May session or November?+

UAE IB schools sit the May session. We do not publish specific IB session or results dates on these pages because the IB's own site blocks automated verification, and a date a parent plans around has to be correct; confirm exact windows with your school's IB coordinator or on ibo.org. What does not move is the sequence: subject choices, Extended Essay question, Internal Assessment data collection, core essays, mocks in the winter term, internal uploads in the spring, then the written papers. Working backwards through that list is more useful than any single date.

What happens if no Computer Science HL specialist is free?+

We tell you, and we give you a date rather than a substitute. Computer Science HL is a small-cohort subject, so the specialist pool is genuinely limited and a wait of five to ten days is realistic. The alternative, putting a general programmer in front of a student who needs the solution development criteria and the HL options, wastes your money and the student's term. If the available specialist is based outside the UAE and teaching into Gulf Standard Time, we say so before you book. No competitor page in our research discloses a coverage limit at all.

Does your tutor come to our address in IMPZ for a subject session?+

No. IB Gram delivers all UAE lessons as one-to-one live video, and home visiting is a service we run in India only. On a subject-led page that is the point rather than a caveat: the local evening pool filters tutors by who can reach IMPZ by six, and the Dubai travel premium of roughly AED 50-150 an hour is that filter expressed as money. Independent home tutors do work in this area and for a younger child needing physical supervision they can be right. For Higher Level subject precision, the drive is what you are paying to remove.

Can one tutor cover both Physics HL and Maths AA HL for my son?+

Occasionally, but we would rather not, and the reason is mark schemes. Physics HL rewards uncertainty treatment and named principles in explain questions; Maths AA HL Paper 3 rewards structural reading and visible method. Those are different marking cultures, and a tutor fluent in both is rarer than a tutor who is good at both subjects. Two specialists at one session each a week usually produces more than one person at two sessions. If budget makes a single tutor necessary, we will say which of the two subjects they are genuinely strongest in.

Judge the subject knowledge, not the postcode

The search put distance first because that is what search engines can measure. The Diploma measures something else: whether a student reads the command term, structures the answer to the band descriptor, treats uncertainty in the language the mark scheme uses, and chose a research question their data could actually support. All of that is subject knowledge, and none of it is improved by the tutor living closer to IMPZ. Send a recent marked script, take a free trial lesson, and use twenty minutes of it to check whether the person can explain one lost mark properly. That single test tells you more than any profile.
