IGCSE Science Tutor in Jumeirah Park

Before hiring an IGCSE science tutor in Jumeirah Park, establish three things with the school: whether your child takes three separate sciences or a combined award, which board each is entered with, and the tier. Those answers decide how many papers are sat and what a tutor should be doing on a Tuesday. Then the session gets timed around when the bus actually reaches your district.

  • Separate, combined and coordinated science handled as different courses
  • Tutors briefed on the exact code: 0620, 0625, 0610, 4CH1, 4PH1, 4BI1
  • One science diagnosed at a time, not all three at once
  • Live online on Gulf Standard Time, free trial session first

IB & IGCSE in Jumeirah Park

What 'IGCSE science' means in your child's case

There is no single IGCSE science qualification, and that is the source of most of the confusion families arrive with. Your child may be entered for three separate sciences, each with its own syllabus code and its own papers. Or for a combined or coordinated award covering all three in one or two qualifications with reduced content. Those are different courses with different paper counts, and a tutor needs to know which before the first session.

The second variable is the board. Cambridge IGCSE biology, chemistry and physics are 0610, 0620 and 0625; Pearson Edexcel International GCSE equivalents are 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1. The content overlaps heavily and the assessment does not, including how practical skills are examined. Past papers are not interchangeable, and a tutor working from the wrong set will teach well and move nothing.

The third is tier, where the subject is tiered. Cambridge offers Core and Extended in the sciences; Pearson uses Foundation and Higher in some subjects. The tier caps the grade and removes content, and it is normally set on Year 9 and early Year 10 evidence. If your child needs a science for sixth form, a Core entry is worth questioning in Year 10 rather than accepting silently.

Once those three facts are in hand the work becomes specific, and there is a fourth question only a parent can answer: which of the three sciences is actually failing? Families routinely say 'science' when the marked papers show chemistry is secure, biology is weak on language precision and physics is weak on electricity. Three different problems, three different interventions, and spreading one hour across all three fixes none of them.

For a Jumeirah Park household the constraint is the week. The community's own school runs the British curriculum and students at other schools travel out, with the bus returning most children between about 15:20 and 16:40 depending on district and route. Three sciences plus homework does not fit alongside three tutoring sessions, so the choice of which science gets the hour is the real decision.

There is a fifth question most families never ask, and it is the one with the best return: how are practical skills examined for your child's entry? Some candidates sit a practical examination in a laboratory and others a written alternative-to-practical paper. Both test method writing, variables, instrument reading, tabulation and graphing, and a short block on those skills earns marks in all three sciences at once.

IB Gram delivers this as live online tuition to Jumeirah Park, one tutor to one student, on Gulf Standard Time, with past papers shared on screen. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visits are an India-only service. We target the local search phrase because it is what parents type, and then tell you plainly what the service is.

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Science support around Jumeirah Park concentrates at four stages, and the one families most often skip is the cheapest and most effective.

LSECAges 11-14 · Years 7-9

Lower Secondary science

Where the habits that decide IGCSE science marks are formed: writing a method someone else could repeat, identifying and controlling variables, drawing a graph with labelled axes and a sensible scale, and explaining rather than describing. Content is easily recovered later; these habits are not.

Several Dubai schools set IGCSE science tiering and the separate-versus-combined decision on Year 9 evidence, which makes this the cheapest year in which to intervene and the least-used science support available in this community.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Separate sciences

Biology, chemistry and physics taken as three qualifications, each externally examined with its own papers and its own practical assessment route. The standard route for students heading to A Level sciences or the IB Diploma's Higher Level sciences, and the heavier workload of the two options.

UAE candidates sit Cambridge's June and November series or Pearson's May/June and November. The February/March Cambridge series is offered to India only, so any plan built around a February window is wrong for your child's country.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Combined and coordinated science

All three sciences delivered as one or two qualifications with reduced content. Suitable for students whose strengths lie elsewhere, and sometimes a constraint of the school's timetable rather than a choice. The paper still asks for the same quality of explanation, which students underestimate.

Check with the sixth form before assuming a combined award supports a science at A Level or Higher Level in the Diploma. Entry expectations vary by school and are worth confirming in Year 10 rather than after results.

NEXTAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

The step after IGCSE

A Level sciences or the IB Diploma's sciences at Higher or Standard Level. Both assume independent laboratory planning, uncertainty handling and the ability to explain a mechanism rather than report an outcome, none of which a strong IGCSE grade guarantees.

Several schools within a short drive of Jumeirah Park offer the Diploma and several the A Level route. A short bridging block in the summer after Year 11 is the highest-value science tutoring a family here can buy.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

What an IGCSE science tutor should be working on, with the specific place each topic costs marks. Use these as test questions for any tutor you are considering.

Physics: electricity and circuits

Core and Extended

Current, potential difference, resistance, series and parallel circuits. The single most frequently rebuilt topic in IGCSE science, because students learn the formulae without a mental model of what a circuit is doing. It needs reasoning about the physical situation first, then calculation, and it usually takes three sessions.

Physics: forces, moments and motion

Core and Extended

Motion graphs, Newton's laws, moments and pressure. Moments questions reward students who draw the situation and mark the distances from the pivot; those who work from the formula alone lose marks on anything non-standard. Graph interpretation is the other recurring loss.

Chemistry: mole and stoichiometry

Extended emphasis

Relative masses, moles, concentration, limiting reagents and percentage yield. The Extended grade turns substantially on these, and the problem is reliability rather than comprehension: a layout improvised each time fails under exam pressure. One fixed layout, drilled with units, fixes it quickly.

Chemistry: qualitative analysis and separation

Core and Extended

Identifying ions and gases, chromatography, distillation and filtration. These carry straightforward marks that students drop simply because the tests and observations were never systematically learned. Among the fastest returns available in the whole science programme.

Chemistry: organic and bonding

Core and Extended

Covalent and ionic bonding, structure and properties, homologous series and basic reactions. Explanation marks are lost where students state a property without connecting it to the bonding that causes it, which is what the question is actually asking for.

Biology: precision of language

Core and Extended

The defining difficulty in IGCSE biology is not content but wording. Mark schemes want a named variable and a direction, where students write that the plant grew better. Examiner reports repeat this every series, and it responds to answer construction against real schemes rather than more revision.

Biology: transport, respiration and photosynthesis

Core and Extended

Diffusion, osmosis, active transport, gas exchange and the two core processes. Osmosis questions in particular reward precise use of water potential language. Students who learn the processes as stories rather than as mechanisms lose the explanation marks.

Biology: genetics and inheritance

Core and Extended

Monohybrid crosses, genetic diagrams, variation and selection. Genetic diagrams score only when laid out fully with gametes shown, and partial diagrams score partially. A procedural fix rather than a conceptual one, and a reliable source of recovered marks.

Practical skills across all three

Core and Extended

Writing a repeatable method, identifying variables, reading instruments, plotting with a sensible scale and drawing a line of best fit. Assessed through a practical examination or an alternative-to-practical paper depending on the entry, and the single most transferable skill in science tutoring.

Command terms and exam conduct

All tiers

State, describe, explain, suggest and compare each demand a different answer. Add showing working so method marks survive, managing time across a paper, and answering the question asked rather than the one revised. The cheapest marks in science and the least often taught.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Jumeirah Park families use science support, all delivered live online, one to one, on Gulf Standard Time.

One science, weekly

The pattern we recommend almost always: pick the science that is genuinely weakest or that matters most for sixth form, and do that one properly for a term. One hour covering three sciences produces three partial interventions, and parents defend the arrangement long after the marks have shown it is not working.

  • One subject, one fixed weekly hour, same tutor
  • Briefed on the exact syllabus code and tier
  • Chosen from marked papers, not from a feeling
  • Short written note after each session

Practical skills block

Four to six sessions on the skills that earn marks in every science and in the practical or alternative-to-practical paper: writing a repeatable method, controlling variables, reading instruments, plotting and drawing a line of best fit. One block, marks in three subjects, which makes it the best-value science tutoring available.

  • Transfers across biology, chemistry and physics
  • Targets the practical or alternative-to-practical route specifically
  • Graph and table conventions taught explicitly
  • A defined number of sessions, agreed up front

Year 11 paper programme

From the autumn of Year 11, past papers for the exact syllabus code under timed conditions, marked line by line. Command-term discipline gets explicit attention because in biology especially that is where the marks are, and the topic list is rebuilt weekly from the errors rather than following the specification.

  • Papers under exam conditions, then marked together
  • Command terms taught as separate answer shapes
  • Error log drives the next session
  • Rises to two sessions a week before the series

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Jumeirah Park

01

Separate, combined or coordinated: find out which

This is the first question and most families cannot answer it. Separate sciences means three qualifications, three sets of papers and three syllabus codes. Combined science means one qualification covering all three with reduced content. Coordinated science, in the Cambridge form, covers all three as a double award. The paper count, the content depth and the sixth-form consequences differ in each case.

It matters for tutoring because the tutor's brief changes completely. A combined-science candidate does not need the depth a separate-sciences candidate needs, and teaching them the separate-science content wastes the hour while making the student feel behind. The reverse error is worse: a separate-sciences candidate taught combined-level content arrives at the paper under-prepared.

It matters even more for what comes next. Sixth forms and Diploma schools differ in whether a combined award supports a science at A Level or at Higher Level, and the expectation is set by the receiving school rather than by the board. That is a Year 10 conversation with your child's school, not a post-results discovery, and it is worth having in writing.

Sometimes the route is a timetable constraint rather than a judgement about the student. Schools build option blocks around staffing, and a child capable of three separate sciences occasionally ends up on a combined award because of how the week was constructed. If that is your situation, it is worth asking directly whether a separate entry is possible.

The table sets out the three routes and what each implies. Confirm the specific award and codes with your school's exams officer, because the naming varies between boards and the detail matters more than the label.

Which of the three sciences is actually failing

Parents say science; marked papers say something narrower. In most cases one of the three is secure, one is weak for a content reason and one is weak for a technique reason, and those need different responses. Finding out which costs nothing except the effort of collecting three marked papers, and it is the step that decides whether the tutoring money works.

The typical pattern in this community is that physics is weak on electricity and moments, chemistry is weak on mole reliability, and biology is weak on the precision of written answers. Those are three separate jobs. Electricity needs a mental model rebuilt over about three sessions. Mole calculations need a fixed layout drilled. Biology needs answer construction against real mark schemes.

The commonest mistake is to buy one weekly hour and ask the tutor to cover all three sciences inside it. That produces twenty minutes on each, no complete piece of work, no marked past paper and no measurable change. Parents defend the arrangement because it feels fair between subjects, and fairness between subjects is not a teaching principle.

The better approach is to pick one science for a term, usually the one that most affects sixth-form options or the one with the clearest fixable problem, and run it properly. Then reassess. In many households the second science never needs tutoring, because the practical and command-term work from the first transfers to it.

A tutor should be able to tell you in the first session, from marked papers, which of the three categories applies to each science and roughly how many sessions each would need. If the answer is a general plan to revise all three from the beginning, the papers have not been read.

How practical skills are examined, and what that means

Every IGCSE science assesses practical skills, and how it does so depends on the entry your school has made. Some candidates sit a practical examination in a laboratory; others sit an alternative-to-practical written paper that tests the same skills on paper. Which applies to your child is a question for the exams officer, and the answer changes how a tutor should prepare them.

Both routes test the same underlying things: can the student write a method precise enough for someone else to repeat, identify the variable being changed and the ones that must be controlled, read an instrument and record to an appropriate precision, tabulate results sensibly, plot a graph with labelled axes and a sensible scale, and draw a line of best fit that ignores an obvious outlier.

That list is the most valuable thing in science tutoring because it is transferable. Four to six sessions on practical technique earn marks in biology, chemistry and physics simultaneously, and again in whichever practical route applies. No other block of science tutoring pays into three subjects at once, and almost no family buys it because it does not feel like a subject.

An alternative-to-practical paper has a particular trap: because it is written, students revise it as theory. It is not theory. It asks about apparatus, precision, anomalous results and improvements, and a student who has never been made to criticise a method on paper performs badly however well they know the content.

Online delivery suits this work well. The method is written, the table is drawn, the graph is plotted and critiqued, all on a shared screen. The hands-on laboratory work remains at school with the school's apparatus, as it would in any case, and that is where it belongs.

Fitting three sciences into a Jumeirah Park week

This is where science tutoring usually breaks, and it is a logistics problem rather than an academic one. Dubai schools finish between roughly 14:30 and 15:30. A Jumeirah Park bus route serving Al Barsha or Jumeirah Village returns most students between 15:20 and 16:40, depending on the district and which schools share the route. There is no metro station inside the community.

What remains is around four usable hours per weekday evening, into which homework for three sciences plus other subjects, dinner and sleep all have to fit. Adding three tutoring sessions to that week does not work, and families who try it discover by the fourth week that the sessions are being cancelled or the homework is not being done.

The workable pattern is one tutored science on one weekday evening, a second weekday left clear for the student's own work, and a Saturday morning slot for a full past paper when the examination year arrives. Students at the school inside Jumeirah Park can hold a 16:00 weekday slot; bussed students should take 17:00 or 17:30 rather than squeezing in unfed at 16:30.

Bus routes are built around schools rather than communities, so two households a few streets apart genuinely have different windows. Ask your school's transport office for your own route timings rather than copying a neighbour's slot, because twenty minutes is the difference between a session that works and one that is spent waking up.

During Ramadan the pattern shifts: school hours shorten, households run later, and a post-Iftar session or a late-morning weekend slot works better than anything at five in the afternoon. We reschedule rather than cancel, because the June series does not move to accommodate the calendar.

Boards, codes and the two UAE series

Cambridge and Pearson examine the sciences differently even where the content is similar, so the syllabus code decides which past papers a tutor should be using. Cambridge IGCSE biology, chemistry and physics are 0610, 0620 and 0625. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE equivalents are 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1. Confirm the current codes with your exams officer, since specifications are revised.

There are structural differences worth knowing. Cambridge tiers many science subjects into Core and Extended and allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, each with its own timetable version; Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who used the wrong zone's timetable. Pearson publishes provisional and then final timetables per series and offers modular entry in some subjects.

On series, the rule for a UAE family is simple and frequently misstated in tutoring content. Cambridge candidates here sit the June and November series. The February/March series is offered to India only and is not available to a UAE candidate. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November.

The November series is therefore the resit route, and the Pearson precedent shows its timing cost: the November 2026 International GCSE timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, with results reaching students in January; November 2025 results arrived on 22 January 2026, while June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026.

Always plan from the live official timetable your school holds rather than from any date on a tutoring page, including this one. Dates are revised, zone versions differ, and a parent acting on a wrong date pays a cost no refund covers.

What science support costs here

  • AED 150-300 is the published band for a qualified online subject tutor
  • Pricing three sciences at once is how arrangements collapse by week six
  • A practical skills block pays into all three subjects at once
  • In-home visits add a travel premium of roughly AED 30-150 an hour
  • No figure on this page is an IB Gram price

Published Dubai rates put a qualified subject tutor online at AED 150-300 an hour, with Unitors quoting IGCSE from AED 150. Specialist IGCSE and IB work sits at AED 200-450 or more on Bestimate's survey, with TutorChase around AED 270 and BartyED's premium examiner-led tier at AED 650. Budget providers advertise from AED 33-65: Tutopiya from AED 33-52 and EdFlik from AED 45-65.

In-home visits carry a travel premium, at AED 180-350 on Bestimate's figures and AED 200-500 for independent home tutors. On a monthly basis Bestimate estimates AED 240-600 for a weekly budget arrangement, AED 600-1,200 mid-market and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Packages run from about AED 799 a month for eight online sessions.

The specific trap in science is multiplication. A parent who decides all three sciences need support and prices three weekly hours arrives at a monthly figure that no household sustains for three terms. The arrangement then stops in week six, which is the worst outcome of all. One science done properly for a term is better value and more likely to finish.

The best-value purchase in science is the practical skills block, because four to six sessions pay into all three subjects and into the practical or alternative-to-practical paper. Almost nobody buys it, because it does not look like a subject. The second best is a single-science block chosen from a marked paper with a defined target and an end point.

Every figure above is the provider's or survey's own, read in October 2026, and none of them is an IB Gram price. We publish no rate card because the right number depends on the science, the tier and the weeks remaining.

Mandatory UAE subjects, equivalency and the week

  • Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are compulsory in Dubai
  • Mandatory-subject time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit
  • MoE equivalency counts five subjects, excluding Arabic and Islamic education
  • We claim no approval from KHDA, the MoE, Cambridge or Pearson
  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and valid for two years

A science timetable in Dubai does not sit in isolation. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are compulsory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA required its current guidance to be implemented from the start of the 2025-26 academic year. Instructional time is calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit, with the advice that no mandatory lesson runs shorter than twenty-five minutes.

KHDA also requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, stating that combined classes are strictly prohibited because the curriculum expectations and language of instruction differ. For the mandatory subjects, using different or additional content without prior Ministry of Education permission is prohibited, which is why support there means the school's own material.

The consequence for a Year 10 or 11 science student is a fuller week than the subject list suggests, and it strengthens the argument for one tutored science rather than three. Prioritisation is not a compromise here; it is the only arrangement that fits.

Equivalency is the other thing worth knowing while choosing science entries. On the British track the Ministry of Education requires five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus one Advanced Level subject at grade E or better or two Advanced Subsidiary Level subjects at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five.

That exclusion changes the arithmetic. A student taking ten subjects including Arabic and Islamic Education has eight that count, and if the sciences are weak the five-subject threshold is less comfortable than it looks. IB Gram does not perform or guarantee equivalency, and no tutoring is required for it; verify current requirements with the Ministry of Education.

Where we tutor

Where IGCSE science students around Jumeirah Park study

Science enquiries from this part of Dubai arrive from a tight group of UK-curriculum schools, and what differs between communities is how much of the evening survives the school run.

Jumeirah Park

Dubai British School Jumeirah Park sits inside the community and runs IGCSE, so a large share of local Year 10 and 11 science candidates are at one centre with one set of entry codes and are home by about 15:20.

Jumeirah Islands

No school inside the gates, so students here are driven or bussed out and home later. With three sciences to cover, a 17:30 start that actually gets used beats a 16:30 one that does not.

Jumeirah Village Triangle

Sunmarke School and Arcadia Global School are both here, making JVT the densest IGCSE science cluster near Jumeirah Park and a frequent source of Year 11 autumn enquiries.

Al Furjan

Safa Community School and Arbor School serve this community. Journeys are short, and families here often take the earliest available slot because the bus run is predictable.

The Gardens and Discovery Gardens

The Winchester School and Delhi Private School Dubai are within reach, and enquiries from here skew towards single-science rescue work in Year 11 rather than full programmes.

Jumeirah Golf Estates

Low density and long outward commutes to Al Barsha and Dubailand schools. The group most likely to need an 18:00 weekday slot and most likely to use Saturday morning for a full paper.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

GEMS Metropole and Victory Heights Primary are nearby. The evening crossing of Al Khail Road is the reason in-home science tutors quote a premium from this direction and online does not.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Get the route, the codes and the tiers

One email to the exams officer: separate or combined, which board for each science, and the tier. You should get back something like 0620 Extended and 4PH1 Higher. It costs nothing and prevents the most expensive mistake available in Dubai science tutoring.

  2. 02

    Collect three marked papers

One recent marked assessment per science. Together they usually show that one subject is secure, one has a content gap and one has a technique problem, which is three different jobs. Without them, any tutoring plan is guesswork dressed as a programme.

  3. 03

Choose one science for the term

Pick the one that most affects sixth-form options or has the clearest fixable problem, and do it properly. Splitting an hour across three sciences produces three partial interventions. In many households the second science never needs tutoring because the technique work transfers.

  4. 04

    Take the free trial session

A full lesson with the matched tutor on your child's own material, no payment and no card details. Ask whether your child sits a practical examination or an alternative-to-practical paper. A tutor who does not know to ask that has not taught this entry.

  5. 05

Review on a timed paper at six sessions

We look at marked evidence rather than impressions: do the named question types now score, and can your child write a method someone else could repeat? If not, the match, the frequency or the diagnosis changes instead of more hours being bought.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The route established before anything is taught

Separate, coordinated and combined science are different courses with different content depth. We confirm which your child is entered for, with the codes and tiers, because teaching the wrong depth wastes the hour in one direction or leaves them under-prepared in the other.

One science at a time, chosen from evidence

We will tell you to pick one science and do it properly rather than spreading an hour across three. That advice reduces what you spend with us, and it is the difference between a measurable change and three partial interventions nobody can evaluate.

Practical skills treated as a subject

Four to six sessions on method writing, variables, tabulation and graphing earn marks in biology, chemistry and physics simultaneously, and again in the practical or alternative-to-practical paper. It is the best-value block in science and almost nobody buys it.

Command terms taught explicitly

In biology especially, marks are lost to wording rather than knowledge: state, describe, explain and suggest each demand a different answer. Examiner reports repeat this every series, and it responds to answer construction against real mark schemes rather than more revision.

Correct about the UAE exam calendar

UAE Cambridge candidates sit June and November; the February/March series is offered to India only. That error circulates widely in Gulf-facing tutoring content, and it is the kind of mistake a parent acts on before discovering it was wrong.

Nothing claimed that cannot be checked

No regulator or board approval, no self-asserted rating, no statistic without its source, no reproduced past papers and no grade promises. Every AED figure on this page belongs to the provider that published it, read in October 2026.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jumeirah Park: your questions answered

How do I find out whether my child takes separate or combined science?+

Ask the exams officer, by email, for the award and the syllabus codes. Separate sciences means three qualifications with three sets of papers; a coordinated double award or a combined single award covers all three with reduced content. The answer changes the depth a tutor should teach and, more importantly, what sixth forms will accept afterwards. Schools sometimes place a capable student on a combined award for timetable reasons, so it is also worth asking whether a separate entry is still possible.

Can we get all three sciences tutored in one weekly hour?+

You can buy it and we will advise against it. An hour split three ways produces twenty minutes each, no completed piece of work and no marked past paper, which means no measurable change. Pick the science that most affects sixth-form options or has the clearest fixable problem and run that one properly for a term. In many households the second science then needs no tutoring at all, because the practical and command-term work transfers across subjects.

Which single science topic most often needs rebuilding from scratch?+

Electricity and circuits in physics. Students learn the formulae without any mental model of what a circuit is doing, so anything non-standard defeats them, and no amount of revision fixes it because the problem is conceptual rather than factual. It takes about three sessions to rebuild properly, working from the physical situation towards the calculation rather than the reverse. Moments in physics and mole calculations in chemistry are the next two on the list.

Why does my child lose marks in biology when they know the content?+

Because biology is marked on precision of language. The scheme wants a named variable and a direction; students write that the plant grew better or the rate increased. Examiner reports make this point every series. State, describe, explain and suggest each demand a different answer shape, and nobody teaches that explicitly. The work is answer construction against real mark schemes, which usually takes three or four sessions and then shows up immediately on timed papers.

Is the practical assessed in a laboratory, or on paper, for our entry?+

It depends on the entry your school has made, so ask the exams officer. Some candidates sit a practical examination in a laboratory; others sit an alternative-to-practical written paper testing the same skills on paper. The distinction matters because students revise the written paper as theory, and it is not theory: it asks about apparatus, precision, anomalous results and improvements. A student who has never been made to criticise a method on paper performs poorly on it regardless of content knowledge.

Do science tutors visit homes in Jumeirah Park?+

Not through us. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; that service runs in India only, and there is no centre here either. Science tuition for Jumeirah Park families is live online, one tutor to one student, on Gulf Standard Time, with past papers and graph work on a shared screen. Practical work stays at school with the school's apparatus in any case. Published in-home rates in Dubai run AED 180-500 an hour including travel if presence in the room is essential.

What is the best-value science tutoring we could buy?+

A practical skills block of four to six sessions: writing a repeatable method, identifying and controlling variables, reading instruments to an appropriate precision, tabulating with units in the headings, plotting with a sensible scale and drawing a line of best fit. It earns marks in biology, chemistry and physics at once and again in whichever practical route applies. Almost no family buys it, because it does not look like a subject, and it is the clearest return available.

Our child is on Core science but wants to study a science at A Level. What now?+

Talk to the school in Year 10, with marked evidence, because the tier removes content as well as capping grades and sixth forms set their own entry expectations. A term of weekly work aimed specifically at the content separating the tiers, followed by strong marks on the school's own assessments, is what changes a head of department's view. If the cap stands, ask the receiving sixth form directly what bridging they expect rather than assuming the door is closed.

When will my child actually sit the science papers?+

UAE Cambridge candidates sit the June and November series; the February/March series is offered to India only and is not available here, despite appearing in tutoring content aimed at Gulf parents. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones with its own timetable version and states it cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who used the wrong one, so use the version your school holds.

How many sciences should we be paying for in Year 11?+

Usually one, occasionally two, almost never three. The limiting factor is the week rather than the money: three sciences plus other subjects already fills the evenings in a household where the bus arrives at 16:30, and adding three sessions means either the sessions or the homework stops happening. Two is viable if one science is already secure and you use two separate evenings. Three collapses by about week six in our experience.

Is chemistry or physics harder to catch up at this level?+

Physics, usually, because its difficulties are conceptual and compound: a student without a model of a circuit cannot build on it. Chemistry's common weaknesses -- mole reliability, qualitative analysis, bonding explanations -- are procedural or factual and respond quickly, often within two or three sessions each. Biology sits in between: the content is accessible and the language precision takes longer to change. That ordering is why we usually recommend starting with physics if all three are weak.

What should we do in the summer before Year 11?+

A short block, and it is the best-timed science tutoring available. With nothing else in the diary, four to six sessions can rebuild electricity properly, drill a mole layout until it is automatic, or establish practical method writing across all three sciences. That removes work the autumn term would otherwise need weekly support to do. It also secures a weekly slot before the Year 11 demand arrives and the early-evening hours fill up.

Do you help with the mandatory Arabic and Islamic Education subjects too?+

We can support a student with their school's own material, and there are real limits worth knowing. Those subjects are compulsory in all Dubai private schools regardless of curriculum, KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in several of them, and using different or additional content without prior Ministry of Education permission is prohibited. So support means working with what the school teaches, not substituting an alternative course. They are also excluded from the five subjects equivalency counts.

How quickly can you start, and what if the slot we want is taken?+

For most science subjects, within the same week. The scarce combination is a weekday 17:00 to 19:00 slot in the spring term, which is when every Year 11 family in Dubai wants the same hour. If it is not free you are told, with a date, and offered an off-peak or weekend alternative or an interim tutor with a stated handover. Where a tutor is based outside the UAE and teaches on Gulf Standard Time, we say so before you book.

Can one tutor cover two sciences if we use two evenings?+

Often yes at this level, and it has a real advantage: one person sees the whole science workload and can tell you which paper to prioritise in a crowded fortnight. Chemistry and biology pair comfortably, as do physics and maths. What we avoid is one tutor covering all three in a single hour. Ask which syllabus codes they have taught and whether they know the practical route your child is entered for before combining subjects.

Route, codes, one science, right hour

If you are looking for an IGCSE science tutor in Jumeirah Park, do four things in order. Ask the exams officer whether your child takes separate or combined science, with the codes and tiers for each. Collect one marked paper per science, because together they will show you that this is three different problems rather than one. Pick the single science that matters most and run it properly for a term. Then set the slot around when the bus actually reaches your district. Our lessons are live online, one to one, with a free trial session first.
