IGCSE Tutor near me in Jumeirah Park

Most families typing IGCSE tutor near me in Jumeirah Park are trying to work out what this is going to cost before they ring anyone. So this page leads with money: the published AED rates across the Dubai market, what each price band actually buys, the five places families in this community lose money, and what a full year of support adds up to. IB Gram teaches live online, one to one.

IB & IGCSE in Jumeirah Park

What IGCSE tutoring costs here, and what it is worth

The published Dubai market runs from about AED 33 an hour to about AED 650, which is a twentyfold spread for something sold under one name. That alone tells you the word 'tutor' describes several different products. At the bottom you are buying company and routine from a university student. At the top you are buying scarcity. Most IGCSE grades move in the middle, and knowing where the middle sits is the whole point of this page.

Three of the six strongest competitor pages in this market publish no price at all, and two of the ones that do quote US dollars at families who transact in dirhams. One page contradicts its own prices in two different sections. So the first useful thing we can do for a Jumeirah Park family is put the figures in one table, attributed to whoever published them, with the month we read them.

The second useful thing is to reframe the question. An hourly rate is almost useless for planning; a monthly or annual figure is what decides whether an arrangement survives. Bestimate's Dubai rate survey puts a weekly one-hour arrangement at roughly AED 240-600 a month at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Two subjects doubles it. Work from that number, not the hourly one.

On delivery we are straightforward. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visits are an India-only service. What a Jumeirah Park family gets is live online IGCSE tutoring, one tutor to one student, on Gulf Standard Time, with past papers shared on screen. We target the near-me phrase because that is what parents search, and then tell you what the service is rather than leaving you to discover it.

That matters to the cost conversation because the in-home premium is real. Bestimate puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350 an hour and independent home tutors at AED 200-500, against AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor online. You are paying for somebody's drive across Al Khail Road at half past five, and you are choosing from the smaller group of people willing to make it.

One piece of household context before the numbers. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package. The school-fee line in your budget is therefore stable while you plan the tutoring one, which is a better position than families in this city have had for several years.

Everything below is built so you can price the decision properly: the annual arithmetic, the provider models compared, the five predictable ways money disappears, the questions to ask before you pay, and the cost of a resit against the cost of preventing one. Use it on any provider, including us.

At a glance

  • Published Dubai rates span roughly AED 33 to AED 650 an hour
  • Plan on a monthly figure; the hourly rate hides the real commitment
  • In-home visits carry a travel premium of roughly AED 30-150 an hour
  • KHDA confirmed no private school fee increase for 2026-27 on 22 May 2026
  • No figure on this page is an IB Gram price
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Cost per year changes sharply depending on where your child is in the UK-curriculum sequence. These are the four stages and what each typically costs a family in support.

LSECAges 11-14 · Years 7-9

Cambridge Lower Secondary

The cheapest place to intervene and the least used. One hour a week in Year 9 on arithmetic fluency, algebra and written explanation costs a fraction of a Year 11 rescue programme and removes most of the need for one. Checkpoint tests run in March, May and October where schools use them.

Several Dubai schools fix IGCSE tiering on Year 9 evidence. Spending in Year 9 can therefore keep Extended tier available, which is worth more than the same money spent two years later when the ceiling is already set.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

International GCSE

Two years, eight to ten subjects, externally examined by Cambridge or Pearson. This is where almost all tutoring spending happens, and where most of it happens too late. One subject weekly through both years typically costs less in total than two subjects intensively in the final two terms.

UAE candidates sit Cambridge's June and November series, or Pearson's May/June and November. A resit means a second entry fee and a term of sixth-form applications made on a provisional grade, which is the real cost of leaving it late.

AS/AAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

AS and A Level

Three or four subjects, with higher tutoring rates because the specialist pool is smaller. Families who supported IGCSE properly often need less here, because the gap at A Level is independence rather than content, and independence is built in Years 10 and 11.

For Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, students must show one accredited Advanced Level subject at grade E or better, or two Advanced Subsidiary Level subjects at the same grade, alongside five IGCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

The alternative post-IGCSE route, with published rates typically above IGCSE: Unitors quotes IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Six subjects plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS means more components and usually more support across the two years.

Several schools within a short drive of Jumeirah Park offer the Diploma. If that is the likely route, budget for a step up in hourly rate at sixteen and factor in coursework coaching, which clusters around internal deadlines rather than exam dates.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Not every IGCSE subject costs the same to support, because scarcity differs. These are the subjects Jumeirah Park families most often pay for, and what the money is actually buying in each.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580 / Pearson 4MA1)

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

The subject families spend most on and the one where spending early pays best. Extended work is method-led: multi-step questions where the student knows the content and drops marks in the middle. Marked past papers under time are most of the value, and that work does not need a tutor in the room.

Additional Mathematics

Single tier

A smaller specialist pool, so rates sit at the upper end of the qualified-tutor band. Taken alongside the main course by students heading for A Level Maths. Calculus arrives early and exposes any weakness in indices and surds, which is cheaper to fix before the course starts than during it.

Physics (Cambridge 0625 / Pearson 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Electricity and moments are the two topics most often rebuilt from scratch rather than revised, which is why physics blocks tend to run longer than parents budget for. The practical paper rewards precise method description, a skill that transfers across all three sciences and is worth buying once.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620 / Pearson 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Mole calculations decide a large share of the Extended grade and are entirely trainable, which makes chemistry one of the better-value subjects to tutor. Qualitative analysis and separation techniques carry marks students routinely drop for no reason other than never having been drilled on them.

Biology (Cambridge 0610 / Pearson 4BI1)

Core and Extended

The cheapest science to support in theory and the slowest to shift in practice, because the problem is precision of language rather than content. Answer construction against real mark schemes works, but it takes more weeks than a maths intervention, so budget time rather than money.

English Language and English as a Second Language

Core and Extended

Directed writing responds quickly to tutoring and composition does not, so a block aimed at reading comprehension and directed writing is better value than an open-ended one. Check which English qualification your child is entered for; students entered for the wrong one lose marks nobody explains.

Business Studies and Economics

Single tier

Level-of-response marking means an undeveloped correct point earns little, so the work is structure and evaluation rather than content. Good value because the technique transfers across both subjects and across papers, and a small number of sessions usually produces a visible change.

Computer Science and ICT

Single tier

A thinner tutor pool pushes rates up. Computer Science wants pseudocode, trace tables and algorithmic reasoning in a written paper; ICT is practical and applied. The two are confused at option time, and a wrong choice is expensive to unwind in Year 11.

Arabic, Islamic Education and UAE Social Studies

As the school requires

Compulsory in all Dubai private schools whatever the licensed curriculum, with KHDA requiring separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies. Excluded from the five subjects Ministry of Education equivalency counts, which affects where support money is best spent.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to buy IGCSE support, priced differently and suited to different problems. All are delivered live online, one to one, on Gulf Standard Time.

One subject, weekly, from Year 10

The cheapest effective option over two years and the one fewest families choose. A single weekly hour in the subject that most affects sixth-form options, running alongside the school's scheme of work. Total spend across two years is usually below a single intensive programme in Year 11, and the outcome is better.

  • One subject, one fixed weekly hour, same tutor
  • Keeps Extended or Higher tier reachable while it is still open
  • No package bought in advance
  • Short written note after each session

A defined rescue block

Six to ten sessions on one subject with a stated target, bought after a mock rather than on a feeling. It starts from the marked paper, attacks the specific question types that lost marks, and ends with a timed paper to test whether it worked. It finishes rather than rolling on, which is the point.

  • A fixed number of sessions, agreed up front
  • Starts from the marked mock, not the specification
  • Ends with a timed paper as the test
  • No open-ended commitment

Exam-term intensive

Two or three sessions a week per subject in the final weeks, entirely past-paper driven. It is the most expensive way to buy support per unit of improvement, and sometimes it is the only option left. We will say when we think it is too late for a subject rather than selling the hours anyway.

  • Highest cost per week of any pattern
  • Papers under time, marked line by line
  • Topic list rebuilt weekly from errors
  • Honest advice when the weeks remaining are too few

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Jumeirah Park

01

What the near-me search is really asking, and what we deliver

  • One-to-one, live, online; no UAE home visits and no UAE centre
  • Matched to the syllabus code and tier your school uses
  • Slot built around the Jumeirah Park school run
  • Free trial session before any payment

An IGCSE tutor near me in Jumeirah Park is usually a cost question wearing a geography question's clothes. The parent wants someone good, soon, without a drive, and without committing to a number they cannot see. Proximity is a proxy for convenience and for a price they can judge against a neighbour's.

IB Gram answers the convenience part differently. Lessons are live online, one tutor to one student, scheduled around when your child actually reaches home from school. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE at all; that service runs in India only, and no page here will suggest otherwise. There is no office or centre in the UAE to visit either.

That is directly relevant to price. The in-home premium in this market is published: Bestimate puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350 and independent home tutors at AED 200-500, against AED 150-300 for a qualified online subject tutor. The difference is a tutor's commute, and in Jumeirah Park at half past five that commute is long enough to show up in the quote.

If physical presence is genuinely necessary for your child, pay the premium and hire locally; a young child who will not stay in the chair or a household with nowhere quiet to work is not well served online. For a Year 10 or Year 11 student working from past papers on a shared screen, you are paying for travel you do not need.

02

The published Dubai rates, and what each band buys

Here is the market, cheapest first, with sources. Tutopiya advertises from AED 33-52 an hour and EdFlik from AED 45-65. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. TutorChase quotes around AED 270 for specialist work. Bestimate's Dubai survey puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180-350, independent home tutors at AED 200-500 and specialist IB and IGCSE tuition at AED 200-450 or more. BartyED's premium examiner-led tier reaches AED 650.

Monthly packages are also published: around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, and AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Bestimate's monthly estimates for a weekly one-hour arrangement are AED 240-600 at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. All of these are the providers' or the survey's own figures, read in October 2026.

What the bands buy differs more than the numbers suggest. Below AED 100 you are generally buying supervision: someone to sit with a student while they work, which has real value for a Year 9 who will not start without company. From AED 150 you start buying subject teaching with mark-scheme knowledge. Above AED 250 you are buying scarcity, which is worth paying for in Extended maths and the sciences in Year 11 and rarely elsewhere.

Treat the top of the market with particular care. Examiner status is hard to verify and should never be used to imply access to marking, grade boundaries or paper content. If a provider's price rests on an examiner claim, ask what evidences it. We publish no rate card on this page because the right figure depends on subject, tier and weeks remaining, and a number here would be a guess at your situation.

A year of IGCSE support, costed from this community

Hourly rates mislead because nobody buys one hour. Below is the arithmetic for a Year 11 household in Jumeirah Park, using the market bands above rather than any price of ours. The figures are indicative and the purpose is to show the shape of the commitment before you start, not to quote you.

Two patterns dominate. The first is one subject weekly across Years 10 and 11, which spreads a modest monthly figure over roughly seventy weeks and tends to remove the need for anything else. The second is nothing for eighteen months followed by two subjects intensively from February, which concentrates a larger figure into twelve weeks and buys less improvement per dirham.

Worth adding to the table: exam entry fees, which the school charges and which rise if a subject is entered late or sat as a private candidate; and the cost of a November resit, which is a second entry fee plus a sixth-form application season spent on a provisional grade. Those are school and board costs rather than tutoring costs, and they belong in the same budget.

For context on the household side, KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package. That does not reduce a tutoring bill, but it does mean the school-fee line in your budget is stable while you plan this one.

The five ways IGCSE tutoring money gets wasted here

These are specific, predictable and avoidable, and we see all five from this part of Dubai. None of them is about choosing an expensive tutor over a cheap one; the most expensive mistake on the list costs nothing per hour.

The biggest is board-blind tutoring. A tutor working from Cambridge past papers for a child entered with Pearson, or the reverse, will teach competently and change nothing. One email to the school's exams officer asking for the syllabus code and tier prevents it. The second biggest is paying for Extended content when a child is entered for Core, or vice versa, which wastes the hour and damages confidence.

The third is timing: starting in February for a June series. The fourth is buying a twenty-session package before testing the match, then using eleven. The fifth is spreading one weekly hour across three subjects, which produces three partial interventions instead of one that works. The table sets out each with what it costs and the alternative.

A note on the fifth, because it is the one parents defend hardest. Splitting an hour between maths and physics feels fair and reads well on a schedule, but neither subject gets a complete piece of work and neither gets a past paper marked properly. If two subjects genuinely need support, buy two hours or pick one and do it properly for a term. Fairness between subjects is not a teaching principle.

There is a sixth that belongs in a different category. Anyone offering to produce coursework for your child is selling an academic-integrity breach, not a service, and the consequence falls on the student. That is not a waste of money; it is a risk to a qualification.

05

Provider models compared, at model level

Comparing individual companies is less useful than comparing models, because the model determines who actually teaches and what happens when something goes wrong. There are six models operating around Jumeirah Park and they behave differently on price, replacement and accountability.

The questions that separate them are not about teaching quality, which you cannot assess from a website. They are structural: who employs the tutor, whether you can change tutor without losing money, whether the rate quoted includes travel, and whether anyone has checked that the tutor holds a Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation private tuition permit.

The table compares models rather than named brands, and quotes published rates only where the provider published them with a date. This is deliberate: comparing against an unnamed worse competitor is what every page in this market does, and it tells a parent nothing.

The model that most often surprises families here is the tuition centre. Per student per hour it is the cheapest option after school support, and for a shared gap such as mole calculations or evaluation technique it can be genuinely good value. It stops working when your child's problem is specific, because the hour runs on somebody else's weakness, and in Dubai a centre with premises needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is a fair thing to ask to see.

One structural point about us, for the same reason. IB Gram is a matching platform. We select and brief the tutor, you keep the same tutor week to week, and if the match is wrong we change it rather than asking you to persist. We hold no regulator approval of any kind and we do not describe ourselves as licensed by KHDA, the Ministry of Education or any board.

Questions to ask before you pay anyone

  • Per hour or per lesson, and how many minutes is a lesson?
  • Is the dirham figure quoted the figure I pay?
  • Cancellation terms, both ways, in writing
  • What happens to unused sessions in a package
  • Who is the tutor, where based, and do they hold a MoHRE permit?

Hidden extras are where a quoted rate stops resembling the bill. These are the questions worth asking in writing, of us or of anyone else, before money changes hands. None of them is awkward, and a provider who evades one has answered it.

Start with the unit. Is the price per hour or per lesson, and how long is a lesson? A fifty-minute lesson priced as an hour is a ten per cent difference nobody mentions. Then ask whether VAT is included in the figure quoted. We will not state the UAE VAT treatment of tuition as a general fact without a Federal Tax Authority citation, so ask any provider specifically whether their quoted dirham figure is the figure you pay.

Then the mechanics. What happens to a session you cancel with a day's notice, and to one the tutor cancels? Is there a minimum commitment, and what happens to unused sessions in a package? Does the rate change closer to the exams, which it does with several providers? Is there a charge for the first consultation, and is the trial genuinely free without card details?

Finally the people. Who is the tutor, where are they based, do they hold a MoHRE private tuition permit, and have they taught this syllabus code at this tier? And one closing question that sorts providers quickly: what will you not do? The right answer includes not writing coursework and not promising a grade.

07

The cost of a resit against the cost of prevention

This is the arithmetic that most changes behaviour, and almost nobody sets it out. A UAE Cambridge candidate has two series available, June and November; the February/March series is offered to India only and is not an option here. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. So a resit means the November series.

The Pearson precedent shows the timing cost. The November 2026 International GCSE timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, with results reaching students in January; November 2025 results arrived on 22 January 2026, while June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026. A November resit therefore means a sixth-form application season carried out with a provisional grade in that subject.

Against that, set the cost of prevention. A weekly hour in the relevant subject from the autumn of Year 10, at the published qualified-tutor band, spread across the two years. It is not a trivial sum, but it is spread, it is cancellable, and it does not carry the second entry fee, the lost term or the uncertainty in a sixth-form conversation.

There is a third option between the two, which families often miss: an enquiry about results. Where a grade sits just below a boundary, the school can submit a review of marking within a short window after results, for a fee set by the board. It is not a resit and it does not involve more teaching, and it is worth asking the exams officer about on results day rather than a fortnight later when the window has closed.

Dates and timetables are revised and Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, each with its own timetable version. Cambridge states that it cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who used the wrong zone's timetable, so plan from the live official timetable your school's exams officer holds rather than from any date on a tutoring page.

What we will not sell you

  • No coursework written, rewritten or supplied
  • No grade guarantees and no money-back improvement claims
  • No self-asserted ratings or unsourced statistics
  • No reproduced past papers or mark schemes
  • No claimed regulator or board approval

A cost page should be clear about what is not on the menu, because in this market some of it is. We do not write, part-write, rewrite or supply coursework of any kind. Where an IGCSE subject carries an assessed component, a tutor teaches the criteria and gives feedback on work your child has written, and that is the limit. Submitting work that is not the student's own puts the qualification at risk and the risk falls on the student.

We do not sell grade guarantees, score promises or money-back improvement schemes, because no honest provider can deliver one. We do not publish a star rating, a review count or a satisfaction percentage, because any statistic we put on this page would need its sample size, date and method attached, and we would rather publish nothing than publish a number you cannot check.

We do not supply or reproduce Cambridge, Pearson or IB syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables. Those are cited and linked; your child's school holds licensed access to what they need. Anyone offering you a folder of exam material is offering a copyright problem rather than an advantage.

And we claim no approval we do not hold. IB Gram is not approved, accredited or licensed by KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, Cambridge, Pearson or the IB, and holds no KHDA Educational Services Permit. We explain what those bodies do because parents ask, not because any of them endorses us.

Where we tutor

Where the money goes differently around Jumeirah Park

Travel premiums and group-class availability change by community, which is why the same hour costs different amounts a few minutes apart. These are the areas IGCSE enquiries near Jumeirah Park come from.

Jumeirah Park

Villa community with one school inside the gates, so a single-subject in-home visit here means a tutor driving in from Al Barsha or Business Bay and pricing the return leg into the hour.

Jumeirah Islands

Smaller and gated, with no school inside. In-home tutors quote the same or higher than for Jumeirah Park because the detour adds time without adding other clients on the same street.

Jumeirah Village Triangle

The nearest community where enough IGCSE students live close together for small-group classes to be offered at a per-student rate rather than a one-to-one rate.

Al Furjan

Two UK-curriculum schools and a Route 2020 metro station. Tuition centres are easier to reach from here than from Jumeirah Park, which changes the group-class arithmetic.

The Gardens and Discovery Gardens

Denser and more price-sensitive, with a strong market in budget group classes. Worth knowing that a group rate per student is not comparable with a one-to-one rate for the same hour.

Jumeirah Golf Estates

Low density and longer approach roads, so in-home quotes tend to sit at the upper end of the published band. The clearest case in this group for pricing online against in-home honestly.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

Tuition centres and group provision are more available here, and the Al Khail Road crossing at 17:30 is the reason in-home quotes from this direction include a premium.

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Get the code and the tier first, free

Email your school's exams officer for the syllabus code and tier in each subject before you spend anything. Cambridge 0580 Extended and Pearson 4MA1 Higher need different papers and a different tutor brief. This single step prevents the most expensive mistake in Dubai IGCSE tutoring and costs nothing.

  2. 02

Decide the monthly figure you are willing to hold

Work from a monthly number rather than an hourly rate, using the published bands above, and decide what you can sustain for three terms rather than three weeks. An arrangement that stops in week six because it was priced optimistically is worse value than a cheaper one that runs all year.

  3. 03

    Take the free trial session

A full lesson with the matched tutor on your child's current material, no payment and no card details. Afterwards you get a written read on where your child sits against the tier they are entered for, and what the first six weeks should target. If the match is wrong, we change the tutor.

  4. 04

    Buy six sessions, not twenty

Six sessions is enough to see whether marks on timed work are moving, and short enough that being wrong costs little. Discounted long packages transfer risk to you before the match has been tested. Review after six, then extend, change focus or stop.

  5. 05

Review on marked papers, not impressions

At review we look at timed work: whether the question types that previously lost marks now score, and whether your child can explain the method unprompted. If they are not, the problem is the match, the frequency or our diagnosis, and changing one of those is better than buying more hours.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Figures with their source and date attached

Every AED number on this page belongs to the provider or survey that published it, read in October 2026. Three of the six strongest competitor pages in this market publish no price at all, and two quote US dollars at families who pay in dirhams.

No travel premium in the price

Lessons are live online, so you are not paying for a drive into Jumeirah Park at half past five. Published in-home rates run AED 180-500 an hour against AED 150-300 for a qualified online subject tutor, and the gap is commute rather than competence.

Matched to the syllabus code and tier

Tutors are briefed on Cambridge 0580 or Pearson 4PH1 specifically, with the right past papers and schemes. Board-blind tutoring is the way most IGCSE money is wasted in this city, and it is prevented by one email before the first session.

Small commitments, reviewed on evidence

A free trial, then six sessions, then a review against marked timed work. We would rather lose a long package than sell one before the match has been tested, because unused sessions are the most common complaint in this market.

Honest advice about timing

If there are too few weeks left for a subject to move meaningfully, we will say so instead of selling the hours. The cheapest version of this service is the one that starts in Year 10, and we would rather tell you that than take an intensive booking in May.

Nothing claimed that cannot be checked

No regulator approval, no board licensing, no self-asserted rating, no statistic without its method, and no promise of a grade. On a page about money, the absence of unverifiable claims is the most relevant thing we can offer.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jumeirah Park: your questions answered

What is a fair hourly rate for IGCSE tutoring in this part of Dubai?+

Published figures put a qualified subject tutor online at AED 150-300 an hour, with Unitors quoting IGCSE from AED 150. Below AED 100 you are generally buying supervision rather than subject teaching; Tutopiya advertises from AED 33-52 and EdFlik from AED 45-65. Specialist work sits at AED 200-450 or more on Bestimate's survey, with TutorChase around AED 270, and premium examiner-led provision reaches AED 650 at BartyED. Those are the providers' own figures read in October 2026, and none of them is our price.

Why is an in-home tutor more expensive than the same tutor online?+

Because you are buying the commute. Bestimate puts in-home one-to-one in Dubai at AED 180-350 an hour and independent home tutors at AED 200-500, against AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor online. A tutor driving into Jumeirah Park in the 17:30 peak loses forty to ninety minutes in round-trip travel, and that appears in the rate whether or not it is itemised. The smaller cost is the cash; the larger one is choosing from only those tutors willing to make the journey.

Should I buy a monthly package or pay session by session?+

Pay for a small number of sessions until the match is proven, then consider a package if the price genuinely improves. Published monthly packages in Dubai run from around AED 799 for eight online sessions to AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. The risk in a package bought early is unused sessions, which is the most common complaint in this market. Ask in writing what happens to sessions you do not use and whether a cancelled session is credited or lost.

How much should a Jumeirah Park family budget for a full Year 11?+

Using Bestimate's monthly bands, one subject weekly with a qualified tutor sits at roughly AED 600-1,200 a month, or about AED 5,400-10,800 across nine months. Two subjects roughly doubles that. Specialist exam-year support in a single subject is estimated at AED 1,000-2,000 or more monthly. Add exam entry fees charged by the school, and a second entry fee if a resit follows. Those are market figures rather than ours, and they are indicative; the point is to plan from a yearly number.

Is a group class at a nearby centre better value than one-to-one for a Jumeirah Park family?+

Per hour, yes, and per unit of improvement it depends entirely on the problem. A group class works where the whole group shares a gap: a class on mole calculations or on structuring an evaluation question can be excellent value. It works badly where your child's problem is specific, because the hour is spent on somebody else's weakness. Check the group size and ask whether the centre holds a KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is required for a training institute with premises in Dubai.

Do tutoring rates in Dubai go up closer to the exams?+

With several providers they do, and it is worth asking before you commit. Demand concentrates in the spring term, specialist slots in the weekday 17:00 to 19:00 window fill, and the market prices accordingly. The practical consequence is that booking in September both secures the slot and avoids the squeeze. Ask any provider directly whether the rate quoted in October is the rate you will pay in March, and get the answer in writing rather than in conversation.

Does the price I am quoted include VAT?+

Ask the provider directly, and get a written answer. We will not state the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees as a general fact without a Federal Tax Authority citation, so the useful question is narrower: is the dirham figure you have been quoted the figure that will be charged? A provider who cannot answer that clearly has told you something about how they handle the rest of the paperwork. The same applies to whether the price is per hour or per lesson, and how long a lesson is.

What is the single most expensive mistake families make here?+

Board-blind tutoring. A tutor working from Cambridge past papers for a child entered with Pearson Edexcel, or the reverse, will teach competently and move nothing, and the parent usually discovers it after a term. It costs the entire spend. One email to the school's exams officer asking for the syllabus code and tier in each subject prevents it before any money is committed. The second most expensive is teaching Extended content to a Core candidate, which wastes the hour and knocks confidence.

Is it cheaper to start tutoring in Year 10 or Year 11?+

Year 10, substantially, and it is also more effective. One hour a week from the autumn of Year 10 spreads a mid-band monthly figure across roughly seventy weeks, keeps the higher tier reachable while that decision is still open, and usually removes the need for an intensive programme later. Starting in February of Year 11 concentrates a larger figure into twelve weeks at the highest cost per unit of improvement, and competes for the scarcest slots in the market.

What does a November resit actually cost us?+

More in timing than in money. A UAE candidate's resit route is the November series, since Cambridge's February/March series is offered to India only. The Pearson precedent is instructive: the November 2026 International GCSE timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026 with results reaching students in January, and November 2025 results arrived on 22 January 2026. So you pay a second entry fee, lose a term, and apply to sixth form with a provisional grade. Prevention is cheaper on every measure.

Can we spend less by sharing a tutor between two children?+

Sometimes, if the children are close in curriculum and level. Two siblings in the same subject and tier can share an hour productively, and some providers price that below two separate hours. Two children in different years or different subjects cannot, and attempting it produces two half-sessions. Ask how the provider prices a shared session rather than assuming it halves. In our case the honest answer is that it works for genuinely matched siblings and is a false economy otherwise.

How do I compare two quotes that look completely different?+

Reduce both to four numbers: cost per sixty minutes of teaching, cost per month at the frequency you actually need, what happens to a cancelled session, and what happens if you change tutor. Then ask both providers the same two structural questions: who employs the tutor and where are they based, and does the tutor hold a Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation private tuition permit. Most quotes that look cheaper are either shorter lessons, group sessions, or supervision sold as teaching.

Is there any point paying for a premium examiner-led tutor?+

Occasionally, and with caution. The top of this market reaches AED 650 an hour on BartyED's published figures, and for a scarce Extended subject in the final weeks a genuinely expert tutor can be worth it. But examiner status is hard to verify, it should never be used to imply access to marking, grade boundaries or paper content, and it is not a substitute for teaching skill. Ask what evidences the claim. For most IGCSE subjects the AED 150-300 band does the work.

What should we expect to see for the money after six weeks?+

Specific question types that previously lost marks now scoring on timed work, and your child able to explain the method without being prompted. Not a predicted grade, and not a feeling that sessions are going well. If after six sessions the marked evidence has not moved, the problem is the match, the frequency or the diagnosis, and one of those should change rather than more hours being bought. No honest provider will promise a grade or a number of marks.

Do you have a centre in Jumeirah Park we could visit?+

No. IB Gram has no office, centre or branch anywhere in the UAE, and no in-home service here either; home visits are an India-only service. Everything is delivered as live one-to-one online lessons on Gulf Standard Time. We say this plainly because at least one competitor in this market shows a Dubai footer address on pages about other emirates, and because a parent comparing prices needs to know exactly what is and is not included in the thing being priced.

Price the year, not the hour

If you are weighing up an IGCSE tutor near me in Jumeirah Park, do three things before you pay anyone. Get the syllabus code and tier from the school, free. Convert every quote into a monthly figure you could sustain for three terms. Then buy six sessions rather than twenty and judge the result on marked timed work. The published Dubai market runs from roughly AED 33 to AED 650 an hour, and the band that moves IGCSE grades is narrower than that spread suggests. Our lessons are live online, one to one, with a free trial session first.
