IB Physics Tutor in LA Mer

An IB Physics tutor in LA Mer has to fit into a week that is already full. Schools serving the Jumeirah 1 shoreline finish between 2:45pm and 3:30pm, the drive home off Jumeirah Beach Road eats the next half hour, and Diploma students arrive with four other subjects making demands. This page is built around that timetable: when a physics session realistically starts, how long it should run, and which paper the hour should be aimed at. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Evening slots set around a 3:30pm school finish in Jumeirah
  • Paper 1A, Paper 1B and Paper 2 weightings taught explicitly

IB & IGCSE in LA Mer

Fitting IB Physics into a LA Mer school week

Most pages about physics tutoring describe the subject. The constraint for a family living at LA Mer is not the subject, it is the clock. Schools in the Jumeirah, Al Safa and Umm Suqeim cluster end the teaching day between about 2:45pm and 3:30pm. Add the exit onto Jumeirah Beach Road or Al Wasl Road and a student is home between 3:15pm and 4:15pm. After that there is a window of perhaps four hours before concentration on quantitative physics stops being productive, and that window has to hold food, sport, Arabic homework, four other Diploma subjects and the investigation.

Physics has a particular claim on that window because it does not reward short sessions. A worked Paper 2 question with a multi-stage calculation, a graph to linearise and an uncertainty to propagate takes twenty minutes to do properly and another ten to mark against the scheme. A thirty-minute slot produces a conversation about physics rather than physics. The practical floor is a full hour, and for a Higher Level student in the second year the useful unit is two separate hours on different days rather than one long block.

The second feature of the LA Mer week is sport and co-curricular scheduling. Swimming, football and the school activity programme in this cluster cluster between 4pm and 6pm, which pushes academic work after 6:30pm for a lot of students. That is workable for physics provided the session is the first thing after the break rather than the last thing before bed. Diploma physics at 9:30pm is money spent on a tired student.

The third is the investigation. The scientific investigation is 20 per cent of the Physics grade, it is marked against four criteria, and it has a 3,000-word limit. It does not fit into the weekly teaching hour, because it needs blocks: one to choose and narrow a research question, one to design the method, one to work through data analysis. Families who plan the year leave two or three deliberately longer sessions in the calendar for it rather than trying to graft it onto a Tuesday evening.

What that leads to in practice is a simple arrangement. One fixed hour a week in a slot that survives the school run and the activity programme, a second hour added in the second year or ahead of a mock, and two or three longer blocks reserved for the investigation. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE, since home visits are offered only in India. The practical gain for a LA Mer family is that a 6:45pm start is a 6:45pm start, with nobody stuck on Al Wasl Road.

At a glance

  • Jumeirah cluster schools finish roughly 2:45pm to 3:30pm
  • A productive physics session needs a full hour, not thirty minutes
  • Activity programmes occupy 4pm to 6pm for most students here
  • The investigation needs reserved longer blocks, not a slice of the weekly hour
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

LA Mer sits close to several schools running the IB continuum alongside the British-curriculum majority. These are the programmes a physics timetable has to accommodate.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme Physics

Standard Level runs to 150 teaching hours and Higher Level to 240. Both are assessed through Paper 1, split into a multiple-choice section 1A and a data-based section 1B, plus Paper 2, with the scientific investigation carrying 20 per cent. The Higher Level extension is not a separate course but extra depth inside the same five themes, which changes how a tutoring week should be shaped.

Diploma students in the Jumeirah cluster commonly take Physics Higher Level alongside Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, which is the heaviest quantitative pairing on offer. In a week that ends at 3:30pm and already contains Arabic and Social Studies as KHDA mandatory subjects, that pairing is what makes session timing a real constraint rather than a preference.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

IB Middle Years Programme Sciences

MYP sciences are assessed against four criteria rather than papers, with strong emphasis on investigation design. Students arriving in Diploma Physics from MYP 5 are usually confident designing an experiment and less practised at timed quantitative questions under a mark scheme, which is a specific and fixable gap.

Several schools within a fifteen-minute drive of LA Mer run MYP to 16 rather than IGCSE. For those students the step into Diploma Physics in September of Year 12 is the moment the weekly hour matters most, and starting it in the first term rather than after the first report is the cheaper sequence.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE Physics as the route in

Most LA Mer students reach Diploma Physics through Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625 or Pearson Edexcel 4PH1. Both leave a student fluent in substitution into formulae and much less practised at algebraic rearrangement before substitution, which is exactly what Diploma Paper 2 demands.

A student moving from 0625 Extended into Physics Higher Level in a Dubai school meets uncertainty propagation and graph linearisation as new skills in the first term. Booking the weekly hour for September rather than November is what keeps that transition from becoming a grade problem by the first report.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Diploma Physics is five themes plus the investigation. These are the blocks that generate the most tutoring hours among LA Mer students, with the specific demand each makes on a weekly slot.

Theme A: Space, time and motion

SL and HL

Kinematics, forces, momentum, work and energy, with rigid body mechanics and relativity at Higher Level. The reliable loss is sign convention in momentum problems. Needs a full hour because the questions are multi-stage.

Theme B: The particulate nature of matter

SL and HL

Thermal physics, the gas laws, current and circuits. Students handle numbers confidently here and lose marks on explanation questions that ask why rather than how much. Short, frequent sessions work well on this theme.

Theme C: Wave behaviour

SL and HL

Simple harmonic motion, wave phenomena, standing waves and the Doppler effect, with diffraction and interference extended at Higher Level. Graph interpretation dominates, so this is the theme where screen-shared annotation earns its keep.

Theme D: Fields

SL and HL, heaviest HL extension

Gravitational and electric fields, motion in a field, and induction. This is the theme where Higher Level diverges most sharply, and the one that most often prompts a second weekly hour in the second year of the Diploma.

Theme E: Nuclear and quantum physics

SL and HL

Radioactive decay, nuclear binding energy, fission and fusion, with the photoelectric effect and quantum ideas extended at Higher Level. Taught late in the course, which means it collides with mock season and needs calendar planning.

The scientific investigation

SL and HL, 20 per cent of the grade

Marked against research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation, with a 3,000-word limit. Needs reserved longer sessions rather than a slice of the weekly hour, and the student must do the work themselves.

Uncertainties and error propagation

SL and HL

Absolute, fractional and percentage uncertainty, propagation through calculations, and uncertainty bars on graphs. Examined across Paper 1B and the investigation, and almost never taught thoroughly inside normal class time.

Graph linearisation and gradient analysis

SL and HL

Turning a non-linear relationship into a straight line and extracting a physical quantity from the gradient. The single most transferable skill in the course and the one most often missing when a student arrives at a first session.

Mathematical technique for physics

SL and HL

Rearranging before substituting, handling standard form, trigonometry in resolving vectors, and small-angle approximations. Students taking Mathematics Applications and Interpretation often need this explicitly taught alongside the physics.

Command terms and extended response

SL and HL

Distinguishing state, outline, explain, discuss and justify, and writing to the mark allocation. A four-mark explain question needs four distinct points, and students who know the physics still lose these marks routinely.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three session patterns work for Diploma Physics inside a LA Mer week. All are delivered one-to-one over live video.

The fixed weekly hour

One hour on the same evening each week, chosen to sit after the activity programme rather than inside it. The tutor follows the school's own order of teaching so the session reinforces rather than duplicates. This is the pattern that works for Standard Level throughout and for Higher Level in the first year.

  • Same slot weekly in Gulf Standard Time
  • Follows the school's teaching order
  • Written note of topics after each session
  • Recording available for revision

Two shorter hours on separate days

Preferred for Higher Level in the second year, when Theme D and the extension content arrive together. Two separate hours allow a question to be set, attempted independently and then marked, which a single long block does not.

  • Two evenings, an hour each
  • Work set between the two sessions
  • Marked against the published criteria
  • Suits the Fields and quantum themes

Reserved investigation blocks

Two or three longer sessions placed deliberately in the calendar for the scientific investigation: narrowing the research question, designing the method, and working through data analysis and evaluation. The student does the work; the tutor teaches the criteria and gives feedback on drafts.

  • Booked ahead rather than squeezed in
  • Criteria explained letter by letter
  • Feedback on the student's own draft only
  • Keeps the weekly hour free for syllabus teaching

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in LA Mer

01

When a physics session actually fits after the Jumeirah school run

A Diploma physics session in LA Mer realistically starts at 4:30pm, 6:45pm or 7:30pm, and which of those three it is depends on the activity programme rather than the school bell. The table sets out the shape of the afternoon from a senior-school finish to the point where quantitative work stops being productive.

The 4:30pm slot works for students who are home by 3:15pm and whose sport sits later in the evening or not at all. It is the best slot available because the student is not yet tired, and it is the hardest to protect because it is the one activities colonise first. Families who want it generally have to decide in September rather than negotiate in January.

The 6:45pm slot is the workhorse. It sits after the activity programme and after food, it leaves time afterwards for the student to attempt something unsupervised, and it survives the whole year without collapsing. For Higher Level students taking two sessions a week, one at 4:30pm and one at 6:45pm on a different day is the arrangement that holds up best in this cluster.

The 7:30pm slot is viable and the 9pm slot is not. Physics is the subject where tiredness shows first, because a student who is tired can still read a history chapter but cannot carry a four-stage calculation with an uncertainty attached. Booking late on a school night produces an hour of explanation that does not stick, and the honest advice is to move the slot rather than buy more of them.

02

What the papers are worth, and which hour should be aimed at which

Session planning is easier once the weightings are on the table. Diploma Physics is assessed through Paper 1 and Paper 2 plus the scientific investigation. Paper 1 divides into section 1A, multiple choice, and section 1B, data-based questions. The investigation carries 20 per cent at both levels, which means a fifth of the grade is decided by work done in reserved blocks rather than in the weekly hour.

That split tells a family where to point the paid hours. Paper 1A rewards fluency and breadth, which is best built by frequent short retrieval rather than by teaching. Paper 1B rewards exactly the two skills schools have least time for: handling uncertainties and extracting physics from a graph. Paper 2 rewards extended multi-stage calculation and writing to the mark allocation. Those are three different tutoring tasks, and a tutor who treats the hour as generic revision is spreading effort across all three without improving any.

Higher Level does not add papers; it adds depth, longer papers and more teaching hours, 240 against 150. The consequence for a LA Mer student in the second year is that Theme D and the extension content land in the same term as the investigation deadline and the mock window. That collision is the argument for the second weekly hour, and it is predictable enough to plan in September rather than discover in January.

The practical rule that comes out of all this is to name the paper at the start of each session. An hour aimed at Paper 1B looks nothing like an hour aimed at Paper 2: the first is graphs, gradients and uncertainty arithmetic, the second is long questions marked to the scheme. Saying which one the hour is for turns a session into teaching.

03

Why the Fields theme is the one that breaks a LA Mer timetable

  • Theme D collides with the investigation deadline and the mock window
  • Field questions fail on combination, not on concept
  • Needs a two-session cycle: attempt, mark, re-attempt
  • Reserve investigation blocks during the lighter earlier terms

Every Diploma Physics cohort hits a point where one weekly hour stops being enough, and in this cluster it is almost always Theme D. Gravitational and electric fields, motion within a field, and electromagnetic induction arrive in the second year, carry the heaviest Higher Level extension of the five themes, and depend on mathematics the student may be meeting simultaneously in Analysis and Approaches.

The specific difficulty is not conceptual, it is compounded. A field question asks the student to identify the field, apply an inverse-square relationship, handle a vector direction, and often integrate or differentiate a relationship they learned three weeks earlier in a different subject. A student who is fine on each step individually fails the combined question, and the failure looks like not understanding fields when it is actually not having practised the combination.

That shapes the session. Fields work needs a question attempted alone, then marked, then the same question type attempted again, which is a two-session cycle rather than a one-hour explanation. Families in LA Mer who add a second weekly hour almost always add it during this theme, and the ones who plan for it in September pay the same total as the ones who panic in February while getting a better outcome.

The other practical point is sequence. Theme D sits close to the investigation deadline and the mock window in most Dubai schools, so the term in which it is taught is the term with the least slack. Reserving the investigation blocks earlier in the year, during the lighter Theme B and Theme C term, is the single most useful piece of calendar planning available to a Diploma physics family here.

04

The scientific investigation: criteria, word limit and what a tutor may do

The scientific investigation is 20 per cent of the Physics grade and it is marked against four criteria: research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation. There is a 3,000-word limit. For a LA Mer family budgeting evening hours, the useful fact is that it is the one component where the work cannot be done inside a weekly hour, because each stage needs a block long enough to finish a thought.

Where students lose marks is consistent. Research questions are too broad to be answered by the data collected, so research design suffers. Data is recorded without uncertainties, so data analysis cannot reach the top band. Conclusions restate the trend rather than comparing it against accepted physics. Evaluation lists limitations without saying how any of them would be addressed. None of those is a physics failure; all four are design failures that show up at marking.

The boundary on tutoring here is firm and it is worth stating in plain terms. A tutor can explain what each criterion is asking for, teach the physics the student has chosen to investigate, show how uncertainty propagates through the particular calculation involved, and give feedback on a draft the student has written. A tutor does not write any part of it, does not redraft it, and will not supply a research question for the student to adopt. Submitting work that is not the student's own is a malpractice risk that falls on the student.

The honest version of investigation support is therefore slower than the version sold by an essay mill, and it is the only version available here. Two or three reserved blocks across the first year, placed before the Theme D term, is what the component actually needs.

05

Online delivery and the Jumeirah drive, in plain numbers

Home tutoring is what many LA Mer parents search for, and it deserves a direct answer. In-home one-to-one physics tuition in Dubai exists and is quoted at AED 180 to AED 500 an hour with travel included, with Bestimate's 2026 rate table putting the common range at AED 180 to AED 350. A qualified subject tutor working online is published at AED 150 to AED 300, with Unitors listing IB rates from AED 200 and TutorChase AED 270 for specialist work. Those are market figures from the providers named, read in October 2026, not an IB Gram price list.

The timetable argument matters more here than the price argument. A tutor who must physically reach LA Mer for a 6:45pm start has to leave Al Barsha or Business Bay around 6pm, which on a school night is a gamble. Sessions lost or started late to traffic are the cost nobody quotes, and across a Diploma year they are more disruptive than the hourly rate, because a physics session missed in the Theme D term is not easily recovered.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service offered only in India. LA Mer families are taught one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with a shared whiteboard, screen-shared past papers and session recordings. For physics specifically that format has a concrete advantage: graphs can be annotated live and kept, and a linearisation worked on screen in October is still there to look at in April.

The second advantage is the pool. Requiring a tutor to be within driving distance of the Jumeirah coast at 6:45pm on a Tuesday reduces the available set to those who live nearby and are free then. Requiring instead that they have taught Physics Higher Level and marked the investigation criteria is a different filter, and it is the one that affects the grade.

The mandatory UAE subjects sitting inside the same week

A physics timetable for a Dubai student is not competing only with sport. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA set these requirements to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year, or April 2026 for schools whose year begins in April. Those lessons occupy real timetable space and generate real homework.

The detail is more specific than most families realise. KHDA requires separate classes by group: for Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs, and combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited because of the different curriculum expectations and language of instruction. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs and for Arabic as a first language, with the school's licensed-curriculum language used for non-Arabs in Islamic Education and Moral, Social and Cultural studies.

Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, schools may vary lesson length provided the total weekly time is met, and KHDA advises that any mandatory subject lesson should run at least 25 minutes. Schools are also required to ensure that teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic hold appropriate KHDA approval for those subjects, and the use of different or additional content without prior Ministry of Education permission is not allowed.

For a LA Mer Diploma student the consequence is arithmetic. The week already contains a mandatory subject load on top of six Diploma subjects, the investigation and an activity programme. That is the real reason a single well-placed physics hour outperforms three badly placed ones, and the reason the slot has to be chosen around the whole week rather than around the subject.

07

The Diploma year counted forwards from September

  • Year one: one weekly hour plus reserved investigation blocks
  • Year two: add a second weekly hour during Theme D
  • Final weeks: reduce paid hours, protect unsupervised timed practice
  • Confirm IB session dates with the school's Diploma coordinator

Physics is a two-year course and the pressure is not spread evenly across it. Setting out the shape in advance is what lets a family place the hours where they do the most good, instead of buying more of them later.

The first year is the cheap year. Themes A, B and C are taught, the mathematics is still manageable, and the investigation can be started properly. A single weekly hour through this period, plus two or three reserved investigation blocks, is usually the whole requirement. Families who use the first year well spend less in total than families who treat it as the easy year and start in Year 13.

The second year is where the collision happens. Theme D and Theme E arrive, the Higher Level extension deepens, the investigation reaches its deadline, mocks are sat, and the final papers follow. A second weekly hour in this period is a sensible plan rather than an escalation. In the final weeks the sensible move is the opposite of escalation: fewer paid hours, more unsupervised timed practice, because at that stage technique sets through the student's own repetition.

On dates, one caution belongs on every page in this set. IB exam and results dates are not published here because they have not been verified from the IB directly; the correct source is the school's Diploma coordinator or ibo.org. For the IGCSE qualifications many of these students sat on the way in, UAE candidates sit Cambridge in the June and November series, since the February/March series is offered to India only, and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November.

Where we tutor

LA Mer and the surrounding communities we teach

The school-run timings that shape this page apply across the Jumeirah coast strip, with small variations in exit route and drive time. These are the neighbouring communities where the same evening window applies.

LA Mer

Beachfront apartments and townhouses off Jumeirah Beach Road. Short drives, but the single beach-road exit at 3:30pm is what sets the earliest workable session start at around 4:30pm.

Jumeirah 1

Villa streets directly inland, feeding the Jumeirah and Al Safa schools. Students here are often home by 3:15pm, which makes a 4:30pm physics slot genuinely available before activities start.

Pearl Jumeira

Reached by one causeway, so the school-run exit is a single queue. Families here tend to settle on a post-activity slot after 6:30pm rather than fight the earlier window.

City Walk

Inland across Al Wasl Road, with underground parking and lift access adding minutes at both ends of any journey. The evening slot is the reliable one for Diploma physics here.

Al Wasl

The corridor carrying most of this cluster's school traffic. A student crossing it twice in an afternoon loses close to an hour, which is the hour a weekly physics session has to compete with.

Jumeirah 2

Established villas with a high concentration of Diploma families. Demand for Higher Level physics slots here peaks between 6:30pm and 8pm on school nights.

Jumeirah 3

Further west towards Umm Suqeim, with longer internal drives and later arrivals home. Online delivery is what makes a 4:45pm start possible at all from this stretch.

Umm Suqeim

Several large schools, several finish times, and the heaviest afternoon congestion in the cluster. Session planning here starts from the activity timetable rather than the school bell.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send us the week, not just the subject

The first thing we ask for is the shape of the afternoon: school finish time, activity days, and what time the student is genuinely able to think. A physics slot chosen around that survives the year. One chosen around tutor availability collapses by December.

  2. 02

    Take the free trial lesson

A full session over live video at no charge, taught rather than pitched, with the student. The tutor looks at recent marked work and starts teaching. If the match is wrong, say so and nothing is owed; one trial lesson per student, before any booking.

  3. 03

Name the paper each hour is for

Each session is aimed at a component: Paper 1A retrieval, Paper 1B graph and uncertainty work, Paper 2 extended questions, or an investigation criterion. Saying which one at the start is the difference between teaching and general revision.

  4. 04

    Reserve the investigation blocks early

Two or three longer sessions are placed in the calendar during the lighter first-year terms, before the Fields theme and the mock window arrive together. The student does the work; the tutor teaches the criteria and responds to drafts.

  5. 05

Review at the mock, then taper

The marked mock script is the honest diagnostic. It sets the topic list for the following weeks, which are the highest-value hours of the course. In the final stretch the paid hours reduce on purpose so the student practises alone under timed conditions.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Session timing treated as the main problem

Most physics tutoring pages describe the syllabus and leave the timetable to you. In a cluster where school ends at 3:30pm and activities run to 6pm, the slot is the decision that determines whether the hour works, so it is the first thing discussed rather than the last.

No travel inside the hour

Lessons are one-to-one over live video, so a 6:45pm start is a 6:45pm start. Nothing in the rate pays for a drive down Al Wasl Road, and no session is lost to Jumeirah Beach Road at the end of the school day.

Matched on Higher Level experience

Physics Higher Level is not Standard Level with extra pages; the Fields theme in particular diverges sharply. Tutors are matched on whether they have taught the level and marked the investigation criteria, not on how close they live to the Jumeirah coast.

Graphs that stay on the screen

Linearisation, gradient work and uncertainty bars are annotated live on a shared screen and kept. A student revising in the spring can open the October session and see the working rather than trying to remember it.

Plain limits on the investigation

A tutor teaches the criteria, explains the physics and gives feedback on the student's own draft. No part of an investigation is written, redrafted or supplied here, and the page says so because at least one operator in this search sells completed work.

No guarantees, and a free trial first

No grade or score is promised, because no tutor can honestly promise one. What is offered is a free trial lesson, a named component for each hour, a written record of what was covered, and advice to spend less when spending less is the right answer.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in LA Mer: your questions answered

What time can an IB Physics session realistically start for a LA Mer student?+

Three slots work in this cluster. A 4:30pm start suits students home by 3:15pm with no early activity, and it is the strongest slot because nobody is tired yet. A 6:45pm start after activities and food is the one that survives the whole year. A 7:30pm start is workable with care. After 9pm, quantitative physics stops holding, and buying more hours at that time of night is money spent on a tired student. Pick the slot around the activity timetable rather than around the school bell.

Is one hour a week enough for IB Physics Higher Level?+

For the first year of the Diploma, usually yes, provided it is well placed and the student practises between sessions. In the second year the Fields theme, the Higher Level extension, the investigation deadline and the mock window arrive close together, and that is when most LA Mer families add a second hour on a different day. Two separate hours allow work to be set, attempted alone and then marked, which a single long block cannot. Planning for the second hour in September costs the same as panicking in February and works better.

Why is the Fields theme harder than the rest of IB Physics?+

Not because the ideas are harder, but because the questions combine. A field question typically asks a student to identify the field, apply an inverse-square relationship, resolve a direction, and use calculus met recently in a different subject. Each step is manageable alone; the combination is not, until it has been practised. The failure looks like not understanding fields when it is actually not having rehearsed the sequence. That is why Fields work needs an attempt, a marking, and a second attempt rather than an explanation.

What share of a LA Mer student's Physics grade is decided outside the exam hall?+

Twenty per cent, at both Standard and Higher Level. It is marked against four criteria covering research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation, with a 3,000-word limit. The practical consequence for scheduling is that a fifth of the grade cannot be earned inside the weekly teaching hour, because each stage needs a block long enough to finish properly. Families here usually reserve two or three longer sessions during the lighter first-year terms, which keeps the investigation away from the Fields theme and the mock window.

Where do IB Physics students in Dubai usually lose investigation marks?+

In four predictable places. The research question is too broad for the data actually collected, which damages research design. Raw data is recorded without uncertainties, which caps data analysis. The conclusion restates the trend instead of comparing it with accepted physics. The evaluation lists limitations without saying how any would be addressed. None of those is a physics failure; all four are design failures visible at marking. They are also all fixable in advance, which is why the planning blocks matter more than the writing ones.

What exactly can a physics tutor do for the investigation, and what is off limits?+

No, and nobody should offer to. A tutor can explain what each assessment criterion is asking for, teach the physics the student has chosen to investigate, show how uncertainty propagates through that particular calculation, and give feedback on a draft the student has produced. A tutor does not write, redraft or supply any part of it. At least one operator appearing in this search sells completed Internal Assessments; submitting purchased work is a malpractice risk that falls on the student, not the seller.

Does IB Gram send a physics tutor to homes in LA Mer?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE, since in-home tutoring is a service offered only in India. LA Mer families are taught one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with a shared whiteboard, screen-shared past papers and session recordings. For physics that format earns its place: a linearised graph annotated live in October can be reopened in April. It also means a 6:45pm start is not at the mercy of traffic on Al Wasl Road.

What does in-home physics tuition cost in Dubai compared with online?+

In-home one-to-one is quoted at AED 180 to AED 500 an hour with travel included, with Bestimate's 2026 rate table putting the common range at AED 180 to AED 350. Qualified online subject tutors are published at AED 150 to AED 300, with Unitors listing IB rates from AED 200 and TutorChase AED 270 for specialist work. Those are market figures from the named providers, read in October 2026, not an IB Gram price list. The timing risk matters as much as the money on a school night.

My child takes Maths Applications and Interpretation. Will that hold back Physics?+

It can, and the fix is to name it rather than work around it. Diploma Physics expects rearranging before substituting, confident standard form, trigonometry for resolving vectors, and comfort with gradients. Analysis and Approaches covers more of that incidentally. A student on Applications and Interpretation often needs the mathematical technique taught explicitly alongside the physics, which is a specific and short piece of work rather than a general weakness. It is worth raising at the trial lesson so the first few hours target it directly.

How does practical work get taught if lessons are online?+

The practical skills the papers actually assess are data skills, and those travel well. Paper 1B asks students to read and process data, linearise a relationship, extract a quantity from a gradient and handle uncertainty, and all of that is done better on a shared screen than on paper because the working is kept. The hands-on apparatus work happens at school, where it belongs. A tutor's job is the analysis, the uncertainty arithmetic and the evaluation reasoning, which is where marks are actually lost.

Which Dubai schools near the Jumeirah coast run IB Diploma Physics?+

Several schools in and around this cluster run the IB Diploma, including Jumeirah Baccalaureate School on the Jumeirah strip and Raffles World Academy, Dubai American Academy and Dubai International Academy Al Barsha a short drive west. Others nearby run A Level instead, so the first question for any family is which post-16 route their school offers. Those schools are named as context for the local market only; no affiliation or endorsement is implied, and the school's own admissions page is the right place to confirm current programmes.

How do the mandatory UAE subjects affect a Diploma physics schedule?+

They occupy real timetable space. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, with KHDA requiring implementation by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, and KHDA advises at least 25 minutes for any mandatory subject lesson. Added to six Diploma subjects, the investigation and an activity programme, that is why one well-placed physics hour beats three badly placed ones.

When are IB Physics exams and results, and can you confirm the dates?+

No specific IB session or results date is published on this page, because those dates have not been verified directly from the IB. The right sources are your school's Diploma coordinator and ibo.org. What can be said reliably is that UAE schools sit the May session, with a November session also running. For the IGCSE qualifications students sat on the way in, UAE candidates take Cambridge in the June and November series, since the February/March series is offered to India only.

We are starting physics tutoring in Year 13. Is that too late?+

Not too late, but it changes what the hours can achieve. Starting in the second year means the Fields theme, the extension content, the investigation and mocks are all live at once, so the sensible pattern is two hours a week aimed at a diagnosed list from a marked mock rather than general revision. What cannot be rebuilt in that window is a shaky mathematical foundation, which is why the first session should be diagnostic. Starting in Year 12 costs less in total and allows the investigation to be done properly.

Pick the slot first, then the tutor

For a LA Mer family the useful first step is not comparing hourly rates. It is deciding which evening the physics hour will live on, given a school day that ends around 3:30pm and an activity programme that runs to 6pm. Once that slot exists, a tutor can be matched to it and to the level, and the hour can be aimed at a named component rather than at physics in general. Take the free trial lesson, which is taught rather than pitched, and ask for the paper each session will target. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so nothing in the hour is spent on the drive.
