IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Masdar City

Typing "IB IGCSE tutor near me in Masdar City" usually means one of two things: you are not certain which curriculum your child is actually being examined on, or you have two children on different ones. Both are common in a district built around a research campus where families arrive mid-key-stage from other systems. This page sorts the boards out first, sets the two exam calendars side by side, and explains how live one-to-one online lessons cover a household rather than a postcode.

  • Both boards covered: IB programmes and Cambridge or Pearson IGCSE
  • Siblings on different curricula handled from one conversation
  • Live one-to-one video — IB Gram runs no UAE home visits

IB & IGCSE in Masdar City

"Near me" is the wrong question, and the right one is easy to answer

Masdar City is a clean-technology and research district near Abu Dhabi International Airport, built around a university campus, with a pedestrianised core and a small residential population of researchers, postgraduates and professionals. No private school sits inside it. Every school-age child here commutes, most often to the Khalifa City and Al Raha corridor, and families arrive and leave on research and employment cycles rather than on school ones.

That last point explains why this particular search phrase comes from this particular district. Families move in mid-key-stage from British, American, Indian, Australian and continental European systems, and their children land in whichever Abu Dhabi school had a place. A parent six weeks into that may genuinely not know whether their Year 10 child is being prepared for Cambridge IGCSE, Pearson Edexcel International GCSE or the IB Middle Years Programme, and a Year 12 sibling may be on something different again.

So the honest starting point is not a list of tutors near you. It is a question you can answer for nothing: ask the school for the qualification name and, for IGCSE, the syllabus code. Cambridge codes look like 0580 for maths and 0625 for physics. Pearson codes look like 4MA1 and 4PH1. IB courses are named by subject and level — Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL, Biology SL. Once you have that, every other decision becomes answerable.

On the geography, the direct answer. There is no meaningful resident pool of IB or IGCSE subject specialists inside Masdar City, because teaching those qualifications is an occupation and it clusters where the schools are. What the district has in unusual density is mathematical and scientific ability, which is genuinely useful for understanding a topic and not the same as knowing how an IB or Cambridge mark scheme pays out.

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE. In-home visits are a service we run in India only, and no tutor will travel to a Masdar City address. Lessons are live one-to-one video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, with each tutor chosen for the specific qualification in front of them. For a household with two children on two curricula that is the practical difference: two specialists on two different evenings rather than one person who can reach the district.

There is also a budgeting consequence that a mixed household feels and a single-curriculum household does not. The two systems put their pressure in different places in the year: an IGCSE child's demands concentrate in Year 11, while a Diploma child's internal deadlines for coursework arrive steadily across two years. Treating both as one line in the household budget reliably produces a shortage in the fortnight when both land at once.

What follows is the detail a mixed household needs: how the two systems actually differ in what tutoring has to do, how to establish which board each child is on for nothing, the two exam calendars set side by side, where the transition gaps sit when a child moves between curricula mid-key-stage, the mandatory UAE subjects that run alongside either curriculum, and what the Abu Dhabi market charges for running two arrangements at once.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

A mixed household may be tracking any combination of these. They are not variations on one qualification; they are assessed in genuinely different ways.

MYPAges 11–16 · Years 7–11

IB Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria each, marked out of 8 and converted to a 1 to 7 grade on school-set boundaries, with no timed external papers unless the school enters eAssessment. Students become fluent at extended investigation and inexperienced at speed, which is the opposite profile to an IGCSE cohort of the same age.

This is the qualification parents most often mistake for IGCSE, because a Year 10 or 11 child in an Abu Dhabi school may be on either. If your child is producing extended projects marked against lettered criteria rather than sitting past papers, they are in the MYP. The distinction decides whether tutoring targets criteria or mark schemes, so it is worth one email to the school.

IGCSEAges 14–16 · Years 10–11

Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Terminal examinations at the end of Year 11, identified by syllabus code: Cambridge 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology; Pearson 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1, 4BI1. Cambridge tiers many subjects as Core and Extended; Pearson tiers Mathematics A as Foundation and Higher. Several Pearson subjects allow modular unit entry.

Cambridge runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series; the February and March series is offered to India only and is not available in Abu Dhabi. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and warns it is essential to use the correct timetable for your zone, stating it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one.

DPAges 16–19 · Years 12–13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject carries an Internal Assessment worth roughly a fifth to a quarter of its grade. Forty-two subject points plus three core points gives the maximum of 45.

Abu Dhabi schools enter the May session. IB exam and results dates are set and periodically revised by the IB, and none are published here — confirm every date with your school's IB coordinator. What governs a Diploma term in practice is the school's internal deadline calendar for Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge, which bites months before anything external.

ALEVELAges 16–19 · Years 12–13

A Level, as the other post-16 route

The alternative sixth-form pathway after IGCSE, with three or four subjects examined in depth. Several schools in the corridors Masdar City families use offer both A Level and the IB Diploma, which makes the Year 11 grade set a genuine fork rather than a formality.

Relevant to a mixed household because the decision is often made for two children at once, and the answer may differ between them. A student who thrives on depth in three subjects and a student who needs breadth and a structured core are not the same case, and the IGCSE grade set constrains which options are open. Ask the sixth form directly rather than inferring from a prospectus.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

These are the IB courses a Masdar City household most often needs, with what each assesses and where marks go. The IGCSE grid follows separately because the assessment model is different.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebra, calculus and proof, with HL adding a third paper of extended investigations. Technically able students lose marks to compressed working rather than to the mathematics itself.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and technology-led problem solving. The calculator is examined, and a correct result with no stated model behind it earns a fraction of the marks offered.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics, waves, electricity, fields and nuclear physics with HL extensions. Marks go on unit prefixes, unstated assumptions in extended responses, and uncertainty treatment in the Internal Assessment.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Stoichiometry, energetics, kinetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms. Organic pathways are the usual breaking point, and an IA with a clean graph still scores poorly if the method does not justify the range chosen.

Biology

HL and SL

Cells, molecular biology, genetics, ecology and physiology. The data-based paper separates grades, and the loss is describing a trend when the command term asked for a mechanism.

Economics

HL and SL

Micro, macro, the global economy and development. Diagrams carry heavy credit and must be referenced in the prose; the IA commentaries are marked on explicit theory applied to real published articles.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Literary and non-literary texts, the Individual Oral, the HL Essay and guided analysis. Paper 1 marks go to description of content instead of analysis of technique.

Computer Science

HL and SL

System fundamentals, networks, abstract data structures at HL and the solution-development IA. The IA scores on documented design and testing rather than on how impressive the program is.

Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and the IA suite

Core and all subjects

An exhibition and a prescribed-title essay, a 4,000-word independent essay, and a per-subject Internal Assessment. Our role on all of these is teaching, questioning and feedback on the student's own drafts.

Group 2 languages

HL, SL and ab initio

Language acquisition across productive and receptive skills. Coverage is genuinely thinner for less-taught languages, and we say so before you pay rather than offering a near miss.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IGCSE side of a mixed household, by syllabus code where it matters. Cambridge and Pearson examine the same subjects differently, so the code decides the revision.

Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core and Extended; Foundation and Higher

Number, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, probability and statistics. Algebraic manipulation is the main loss at the higher tiers, since almost every multi-step question routes through it.

Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Forces and motion, electricity, waves, thermal physics and radioactivity. Circuits are the standard breaking point and the practical-skills component rewards precise method description.

Chemistry (0620 / 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Atomic structure, bonding, stoichiometry, electrolysis and organic chemistry. Moles and ionic equations concentrate the marks; qualitative analysis rewards learned observations.

Biology (0610 / 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Cells, transport, nutrition, respiration, inheritance and ecology. Large content, and the losses are command-term failures rather than gaps in knowledge.

English First and Second Language

0500, 0510 and Pearson equivalents

Reading, directed writing and composition, or the four skills for additional-language candidates. A repeatable writing structure moves this grade faster than more reading does.

Economics and Business Studies

Core and Extended

Markets, the macroeconomy, business functions and finance. Diagram accuracy carries marks, and extended answers lose credit for listing points without evaluating them in context.

Computer Science and ICT

Core and Extended

Data representation, hardware, networks, algorithms and programming. Pseudocode and trace tables are reliable marks that students treat as optional.

Additional and further mathematics

Where offered

Material overlapping early AS content: advanced algebra, series, identities and calculus foundations. A short, cheap bridge into sixth-form maths for a secure student.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways a Masdar City household works with us, all live over video, all built for the case where one family is tracking more than one qualification.

One specialist per qualification

Two children on two curricula get two tutors, each matched to the named qualification, on separate evenings. It sounds obvious and it is the thing an in-home arrangement cannot deliver, because one visiting tutor covering both is a generalist by definition.

  • A named qualification per tutor, not a household generalist
  • Separate slots so neither child waits
  • One point of contact for scheduling both

A transition block

Short, defined work when a child moves between systems — into IGCSE from another curriculum, or from IGCSE or MYP into the Diploma. The job is to find and close the specific gaps, not to re-teach a year, and it has a clear end point.

  • Starts with a diagnostic on the new syllabus
  • Targets named gaps rather than whole topics
  • Ends when the gaps close, usually six to eight sessions

Core and coursework coaching

For Diploma students: Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge, worked against the published criteria. The tutor reads the student's own draft, questions it and sets the next revision. Nothing is written or edited to completion for the student.

  • Criterion-aware feedback on the student's own work
  • Research question interrogated before writing begins
  • Timed to your school's internal deadlines

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Masdar City

01

What a "near me" search returns in Masdar City, and what it means

A location search assumes the answer is a person within driving distance, and in most neighbourhoods that assumption is roughly sound. In Masdar City it is not, for a structural reason rather than a reputational one. The district was built as a research and clean-technology hub around a university campus. It has a small residential population, a pedestrianised core and no school inside its boundary. Teaching the IB or IGCSE for a living clusters where the schools are.

What the search will return is agencies willing to send someone from the Khalifa City corridor or Al Reef, with the airport-road journey and the walk into the pedestrian core priced into the hourly rate. That is a legitimate service. What it does not tell you is whether the person sent teaches your child's named qualification at your child's level, which is the question that actually determines whether the money does anything.

The gap is particularly wide in a household tracking two curricula. One visiting tutor covering a Year 10 IGCSE physicist and a Year 12 Diploma mathematician is, by arithmetic, a generalist in at least one of those roles. Online delivery breaks the constraint: two specialists, two slots, one household, and nobody driving anywhere.

So the useful reframing is to stop asking who is near and start asking who teaches the qualification. That reordering is available to a family in this district precisely because the local pool is thin, which turns an apparent disadvantage into a free decision.

Two curricula under one roof: how they actually differ

Families moving into Abu Dhabi mid-key-stage often assume IB and IGCSE are two brands of the same thing. They are not, and the differences change what tutoring should do. IGCSE is a terminal examination system: content is taught across two years and assessed by papers at the end, with tiered entries capping or opening the grade range. The skills that pay are recall under timing, mark-scheme phrasing and paper technique.

The IB is a programme rather than a set of subjects. The Middle Years Programme assesses against lettered criteria with no external papers in most schools. The Diploma combines externally examined papers with an Internal Assessment in every subject plus a core of Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. The skills that pay include independent written work produced over months, which has no IGCSE equivalent.

That asymmetry has a practical consequence for a mixed household. The IGCSE child needs timed practice and error correction, concentrated in the final year. The Diploma child needs that too, plus process coaching on independent work spread across two years with internal deadlines set by the school. The two children need different kinds of hours at different points in the calendar, and budgeting for them as one line produces a shortage at the worst moment.

It also means the two children should not share a tutor. Reading an Internal Assessment draft against published criteria and drilling a Cambridge 0625 physics paper are different professional skills, and someone doing both for one household is doing at least one of them adequately rather than well.

Finding out which board your child is on, for nothing

  • Ask for the qualification name and, for IGCSE, the syllabus code
  • Cambridge: 0580, 0625, 0620, 0610. Pearson: 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1, 4BI1
  • IB courses come back as subject plus level, not as "IB maths"
  • Use the code to test any tutor before you pay for an hour

This takes one email and it is the precondition for every other decision on this page. Ask the school office or the head of year for the qualification name and, where it is an IGCSE, the syllabus code. The code is unambiguous in a way a subject name never is.

Cambridge codes are four digits: 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology, 0500 English First Language. Pearson Edexcel codes carry a number and letters: 4MA1 Mathematics A, 4PH1 Physics, 4CH1 Chemistry, 4BI1 Biology. IB Diploma courses are named by subject and level, so the answer should come back as, for instance, Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation SL rather than as "IB maths". MYP subjects come back as subject groups with criteria.

Then use the answer as a filter on anyone you speak to. Give a prospective tutor the code and the level. If they ask which tier applies and which paper pattern governs your child's exam year, they know the qualification. If they treat IGCSE as a single thing, or offer to cover both your children, you have learned what you are being sold before paying for it.

There is a second reason to get this right which has nothing to do with tutoring. Entry administration, tiering and timetabling are the school's responsibility, and a parent who knows the exact qualification is in a much better position to ask sensible questions at a parents' evening about tier decisions, option blocks and whether a set has a settled teacher this year. Those conversations are free and they are frequently more consequential than the tutoring.

04

Two exam calendars, side by side

A household tracking both systems is tracking two calendars, and the planning error is treating them as one. Here is what is fixed. Cambridge International runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. The February and March series is offered to India only and is not available to a candidate sitting in Abu Dhabi — a point worth stating because it circulated widely in the wrong direction.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE is available in May/June and in November. Pearson's published history gives the shape of the wait: the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series and revises them, so open the live official timetable rather than relying on a restated date.

On the IB side, Abu Dhabi schools enter the May session. We publish no IB exam or results dates on this page: the IB sets them, revises them periodically, and our sources for them could not be verified directly, so the only safe route is your school's IB coordinator. What does govern a Diploma term is the school's own internal deadline calendar for Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge, and those deadlines usually land well before anything external.

The practical move for a mixed household is to put both calendars on one sheet in September, mark the school's internal deadlines on it, and look for the collisions. There is usually one: an Extended Essay draft due in the same fortnight as an IGCSE mock. Knowing that in September is worth more than any number of tutoring hours bought in that fortnight.

Transition gaps: moving between systems mid-key-stage

This is the section most relevant to a research district, because families here move on employment cycles. A child arriving in Year 10 from a different system, or moving from IGCSE or MYP into the Diploma, has a specific and findable set of gaps rather than a general deficit. Treating it as a general deficit is how families end up buying a year of tutoring for a problem that needed eight sessions.

The gaps are structural as often as they are topical. A student from a system with continuous assessment moving into terminal IGCSE examinations has rarely sat a full paper under timing. A student moving from MYP into Diploma maths or sciences is fluent at investigation and inexperienced at speed and at presenting method for a mark scheme. A student moving from IGCSE into the Diploma meets an Internal Assessment in every subject with no equivalent in their previous experience.

There are topical gaps too and they are usually narrow. A syllabus taught in a different order leaves one or two units untouched rather than a year missing. The efficient approach is a diagnostic against the new syllabus — a past paper or a criterion-marked task — which identifies exactly which units and which skills are absent, followed by a short block aimed only at those.

The expensive version is to start at the beginning of the new course and work forwards, which re-teaches material the student already holds. Ask any tutor how they will establish what is missing before teaching anything. If the answer is not a diagnostic task, the plan is a guess.

Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies alongside either curriculum

A family new to the UAE is often surprised that their child studies Arabic, social studies and Islamic education alongside a British or IB curriculum. This is a federal requirement rather than a school policy: private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations. Every emirate's requirement sits on that federal baseline.

The emirate regulator then implements it. In Abu Dhabi and Al Ain that is ADEK, which u.ae describes as supervising the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. Dubai's regulator KHDA publishes detailed mandatory-subject guidelines, which are a useful illustration of the kind of detail these requirements carry: separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, with combined classes for both groups strictly prohibited due to different curriculum expectations and language of instruction; Standard Arabic as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs; instructional time calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit with an advised minimum lesson length of 25 minutes; and a prohibition on using any different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry.

Those specifics are Dubai's published implementation, not Abu Dhabi's, and they are quoted here only to show the shape of the obligation. For your own school, ask ADEK's requirements through the school rather than assuming the Dubai detail applies.

The point for a tutoring decision is a planning one. These subjects occupy real timetable hours and real homework time alongside the examined curriculum, which is part of why a Year 11 or Diploma week fills up faster than parents expect. One further detail is worth knowing for the equivalency count: for the British track, Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects the Ministry of Education requires.

Covering two children from one district, and what it costs

The operational question a mixed household actually has is how to run two different arrangements without the week collapsing. The answer is two slots on two evenings with two specialists, which is straightforward online and genuinely difficult in person. An in-home arrangement means two journeys, or one tutor stretched across two qualifications, and from Masdar City each journey carries the airport road plus the walk into the pedestrian core.

On cost, the published market bands for this emirate, read in October 2026, are these. Budget online tutoring at AED 45 to 150 an hour. A qualified subject tutor online at AED 150 to 300. An in-home one-to-one visit at AED 180 to 500 with the journey inside the fee. A named IB or IGCSE specialist at AED 200 to 450 and above. Premium examiner-led provision reaching AED 650. Monthly, Bestimate's 2026 estimates put mid-range weekly sessions at AED 600 to 1,200 and specialist exam-year support at AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above.

Two children at mid-range weekly sessions therefore sits somewhere around AED 1,200 to 2,400 a month, and that is the figure a household should decide about rather than the hourly rate. The useful discipline is to stagger rather than to double: one child on a weekly arrangement where the gap is broad, the other on a defined block where it is narrow, with the heavier spend placed in the term each child's calendar demands it rather than in both at once.

IB Gram publishes no hourly price here. There is a free trial lesson and a consultation per child, and the figures above are the market's, included so you can price any quote you receive, ours among them.

Online from Masdar City, and the honest coverage limit

  • No UAE home visits — in-home tutoring is an India-only service
  • A camera on paper for maths and sciences; a readable draft for written subjects
  • Coverage is stated before payment, including for narrow subjects
  • Non-UAE-based tutors are disclosed before the trial lesson, not after

Stated plainly, since this page answers a local search: IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE. No tutor will travel to a Masdar City address. In-home tutoring is a service we run in India only. Lessons are live one-to-one video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, one student with one tutor.

What that requires from you is modest and worth getting right in the first session. A table rather than a bed. Headphones. For maths and the sciences, a camera angled at paper or a tablet and stylus so the tutor can see handwritten working as it happens. For written subjects, the draft in a form the tutor can read on screen alongside the student. The district supplies the rest: reliable connectivity, a quiet building, and no visitor to walk through a pedestrianised core.

On coverage, the honest position rather than a claim to cover everything. Common IB courses and both IGCSE boards in the main subjects are well covered, and a trial lesson is usually arranged within a few days to a week. Narrow Higher Level combinations and less-taught Group 2 languages are genuinely thinner. If the right specialist is not free we say so before you pay, and name the options: wait for a slot, start on a related component, or take a tutor based outside the UAE who teaches the same syllabus and works to your evening.

If a tutor is not UAE-based you are told before the trial lesson. That disclosure is deliberate: several providers in this market route UAE parents to numbers outside the country without saying where the teaching comes from, and a parent should not discover it in week three.

No school sits inside the district, and our lessons are online, so where you enrol changes which slot suits rather than which tutor is available.

Masdar City

A research and clean-technology district by the airport with a pedestrianised core, a university campus at its centre and no school within its boundary. Families arrive mid-key-stage on employment cycles rather than school ones.

Khalifa City

The nearest dense school belt, with both British and IB pathways represented. The default enrolment choice from Masdar City and the shortest route to a wide field of programmes.

Al Raha Gardens

Villa community with international schools adjacent, including IB provision. One of the quickest school journeys available from this district in either direction.

Al Raha Beach

Waterfront apartments and townhouses along the airport road, close to both Masdar and the Al Raha schools. A frequent second address once children reach examination years.

Al Reef

Affordable villas and apartments near the airport, popular with school staff. The closest community to Masdar City with a real resident teaching population.

Shakhbout City

Villa community within the Khalifa City corridor with its own school access. Often weighed against Khalifa City by families choosing school and housing at once.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Dense mainland grid with the broadest curriculum mix in the emirate, including Indian and Arab curriculum schools alongside British ones. A wider field at a longer distance.

Yas Island

Newer British-curriculum schools north of the airport road. A genuine cross-city commute from Masdar City, which moves any tutoring slot to the evening.

Saadiyat Island

Cultural district with a small number of well-known international schools running IB and British pathways. The longest run most Masdar families would consider.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Masdar City

The Khalifa City and Al Raha corridor

The nearest belt and where most Masdar City children are enrolled. Both IB and British pathways are represented here, which is why a single household can end up tracking two exam calendars from one school run.

  • Al Yasmina Academy
  • Raha International School
  • GEMS American Academy Abu Dhabi
  • Reach British School
  • Abu Dhabi International School
  • Emirates National School

The islands and the wider city

Where families enrol for a specific programme rather than a short journey. A cross-city run that makes an in-home arrangement impractical and an evening online slot the sensible option.

  • Cranleigh Abu Dhabi
  • The British International School Abu Dhabi
  • Brighton College Abu Dhabi
  • Repton School Abu Dhabi
  • Al Bateen Academy
  • Al Muna Academy

Schools are named as context for the Masdar City education landscape only. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any school named here.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Get the qualification and code for each child

One email to the school. The qualification name, and for IGCSE the syllabus code and tier. For the IB, the subject and level. This is the precondition for matching anyone, and it is free.

  2. 02

Put both calendars on one sheet

Cambridge or Pearson series dates, the IB internal deadlines from the school, and school mocks. Look for the fortnight where two children's deadlines collide. Knowing that in September beats buying hours in it.

  3. 03

Send marked work for each child

The last two marked assessments per child, with teacher comments, plus any IA or Extended Essay draft. We propose a specialist per qualification and say plainly if coverage is thin for either.

  4. 04

Take a free trial per child

A real lesson on their own work, not a sales call. At the end, ask each tutor to name what is costing marks. Two useful answers mean two useful arrangements; one vague answer tells you to change that tutor.

  5. 05

    Stagger the commitment

Weekly where the gap is broad, a defined block where it is narrow, and the heavier spend placed in the term each child's calendar demands. Review each arrangement on the next marked assessment rather than by feel.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

One specialist per qualification

Two children on two curricula get two tutors matched to named qualifications on separate evenings. A single visiting tutor covering both is a generalist in at least one role, which is arithmetic rather than criticism.

The board question answered before anything is sold

We ask for the qualification name, syllabus code and tier before proposing a tutor, because Cambridge 0625, Pearson 4PH1 and IB Physics SL are three different products with three different mark schemes.

Both calendars accounted for

Cambridge June and November, Pearson May/June and November, and the school's own IB internal deadlines. We plan around the collisions rather than discovering them in the week they happen.

Transition work diagnosed, not assumed

A child arriving mid-key-stage has findable gaps, not a general deficit. A diagnostic task first, then a short block aimed only at what is missing, which is usually eight sessions rather than a year.

Coverage limits disclosed before payment

If a narrow Higher Level course or a less-taught language is thin, you are told, with the alternatives named and with non-UAE-based delivery stated upfront. No competitor in this market publishes a coverage limit.

No claimed approvals and no invented figures

IB Gram holds no ADEK, KHDA, Ministry, IB, Cambridge or Pearson approval or partnership, operates no UAE office, and publishes no self-generated ratings or statistics. Unsourced numbers are left off the page.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Masdar City: your questions answered

Are there IB or IGCSE tutors actually based in Masdar City?+

Very few, for a structural reason. The district was built as a research and clean-technology hub around a university campus, with a small residential population, a pedestrianised core and no school inside its boundary. Teaching the IB or IGCSE for a living clusters where schools are — mainly the Khalifa City corridor and the island districts. What a local search returns is agencies willing to send someone in from there, with the airport-road journey and the walk priced into the rate, which answers a logistics question rather than an academic one.

How do I find out whether my child is on IGCSE or the IB MYP?+

Ask the school for the qualification name and, if it is an IGCSE, the syllabus code. Cambridge codes are four digits such as 0580 Mathematics or 0625 Physics; Pearson codes look like 4MA1 or 4PH1. IB courses come back as a subject and level. A quick behavioural test also works: a child producing extended projects marked against lettered criteria is in the MYP, while a child sitting past papers under timing is being prepared for a terminal IGCSE. The distinction decides what tutoring should target.

Can one tutor cover a Year 10 IGCSE child and a Year 12 Diploma child?+

They can be booked to, and it is not what you want. Drilling a Cambridge 0625 physics paper and reading an Internal Assessment draft against published criteria are different professional skills, and one person doing both for one household is doing at least one of them adequately rather than well. Online delivery removes the compromise: two specialists on two evenings, one point of contact for scheduling. An in-home arrangement forces either a generalist or two separate journeys into a district with a pedestrianised core.

What actually differs between IGCSE and IB for tutoring purposes?+

IGCSE is terminal: two years of content assessed by papers at the end, with tiered entries that cap or open the grade range, so tutoring targets mark schemes, timing and paper technique, concentrated in Year 11. The IB Diploma combines external papers with an Internal Assessment in every subject plus Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay, so tutoring also has to coach independent written work across two years against school-set internal deadlines. Different kinds of hours, at different points in the calendar, which matters when budgeting for two children.

Which exam series does each system use in Abu Dhabi?+

Cambridge runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series; its February and March series is offered to India only and is not available here. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. Abu Dhabi schools enter the IB May session. We publish no specific IB dates because the IB sets and revises them and our sources could not be verified directly, so confirm those with your school's IB coordinator. For both IGCSE boards, open the live official timetable rather than relying on a restated date.

How long is the wait for IGCSE results?+

Pearson's published history gives the pattern. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, roughly eight to nine weeks after the summer window. November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, about two months after that series. The November 2026 final timetable itself ran from late October to 19 November 2026. Those are backward-looking dates quoted so you can plan the wait; future series dates get revised, so check the board's live timetable before acting on anything.

We have just moved to Abu Dhabi mid-year. What should we buy first?+

A diagnostic, not a course. A child arriving mid-key-stage has findable gaps rather than a general deficit: usually one or two untouched units because the previous syllabus ran in a different order, plus a structural gap such as never having sat a full paper under timing. One session on a diagnostic task against the new syllabus identifies exactly what is missing, and a short block of six to eight sessions closes it. Starting at the beginning of the new course re-teaches material your child already holds, at full price.

What is the hardest part of moving from IGCSE into the IB Diploma?+

The Internal Assessment in every subject, which has no real IGCSE equivalent. A student arriving from terminal examinations is practised at recall under timing and inexperienced at producing independent written work over months against published criteria, with a research question they chose themselves. That is a process skill, and it is the one where early help is cheap and late help is expensive. A block early in DP1 on how the criteria work across subjects is worth more than the same hours spent in DP2 on a draft already due.

Why does my child study Arabic and Islamic education alongside IGCSE?+

Because it is a federal requirement rather than a school choice. Private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations, and each emirate's regulator implements that baseline. In Abu Dhabi and Al Ain that regulator is ADEK. Dubai's KHDA publishes detailed guidelines on class organisation, language of instruction and lesson length as an illustration of the obligation's shape. Ask your own school what ADEK requires rather than assuming the Dubai detail transfers.

Do Arabic and Islamic education count towards Ministry equivalency?+

Not towards the five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects the Ministry of Education requires on the British track. The published requirement is five accredited subjects at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education expressly excluded from that count, plus either one accredited Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary Level subjects at the same grade. A page currently ranking in this market states six subjects are needed, which does not match the published rule. Verify your own case with the Ministry.

What does it cost to support two children on two curricula?+

Price the monthly figure rather than the hourly one. Published market rates read in October 2026 put a qualified subject tutor online at AED 150 to 300 an hour and a named IB or IGCSE specialist at AED 200 to 450 and above, with Bestimate's 2026 estimates giving AED 600 to 1,200 a month for mid-range weekly sessions. Two children at that level sits around AED 1,200 to 2,400 a month. The sensible discipline is to stagger rather than double: weekly where the gap is broad, a defined block where it is narrow.

Will a tutor come to our home in Masdar City?+

No. IB Gram runs no home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we offer only in India. Lessons are live one-to-one video in Gulf Standard Time. For this district the case is unusually clear: an in-home tutor faces the airport-road journey plus a walk into the pedestrianised core, two children on two curricula would mean two journeys or one generalist, and the market premium for the format pays for logistics rather than teaching. Online, you get a specialist per qualification.

What if nobody covers one of my children's subjects?+

You are told before you pay. Common IB courses and both IGCSE boards in the main subjects are well covered, with a trial usually arranged within a few days to a week. Narrow Higher Level combinations and less-taught Group 2 languages are genuinely thinner. In those cases we name the options: wait for a slot, begin on a related component such as an Internal Assessment with a specialist in that part, or take a tutor based outside the UAE who teaches the same syllabus and works to your evening, disclosed before the trial lesson.

Which regulator oversees the school my child attends?+

In Abu Dhabi and Al Ain it is ADEK, the Department of Education and Knowledge, which u.ae describes as supervising the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. Dubai sits with KHDA; Sharjah with the Sharjah Private Education Authority; Ras Al Khaimah with its Department of Knowledge; and the Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. Sharjah's and Ras Al Khaimah's authorities also approve tuition fees, curricula and assessment methods, so a regulator's remit can extend well beyond inspection.

What should we send before free trial lessons for two children?+

Per child: the qualification name, the syllabus code and tier for an IGCSE or the subject and level for an IB course, the school name, and the last two marked assessments with teacher comments. Plus any Internal Assessment or Extended Essay draft in progress. And one household detail: the time each child is actually home, since the commute from Al Raha is twenty minutes and from Saadiyat closer to an hour. With that we can propose a specialist per qualification and two slots that do not collide.

A straight answer for a Masdar City household

"Near me" is the wrong filter in a district with no school in it and a thin resident teaching population. The right one is the qualification: ask the school for the name, the syllabus code and the tier, then match a specialist to each child rather than a generalist to the household. We teach Masdar City students live over one-to-one video in Gulf Standard Time, cover IB programmes and both IGCSE boards, state coverage limits before you pay, and run no home visits anywhere in the UAE. Send the qualifications, the marked work and the arrival times, and take a free trial lesson per child.
