IGCSE Home Tutor in Al Juraina

The real question behind a search for an IGCSE home tutor in Al Juraina is not who is available. This is central Sharjah: plenty of people are available. The question is whether any of them knows the specific syllabus your child is entered for - and in a district where schools run several curricula, even identifying that syllabus takes an email. This page explains how to verify syllabus knowledge, what a school can tell you, and why we match on the code and teach one-to-one over live video.

  • Matched to the syllabus code on the statement of entry
  • Tutor's course experience stated before you book anything
  • Free trial lesson, with a script marked beforehand
  • One-to-one over live video; no UAE home visits

IB & IGCSE in Al Juraina

Availability is not the problem. Verification is

Al Juraina is in the older, central-southern part of Sharjah, off the Maliha Road, with schools nearby and a tutoring market that has existed for decades. A parent here can find somebody to teach their child within a day. What they cannot easily find out is whether that person knows the examination their child is sitting, and this district makes the problem harder than most.

The reason is the school mix. Schools around here run British, Indian and mixed curricula, and a student can attend a school whose principal curriculum is one thing while being entered for Cambridge or Pearson papers in some subjects. So the first question - which syllabus is my child on - is genuinely uncertain for many families, and every later question depends on it.

The codes resolve it. Cambridge subjects carry four-digit codes: 0580 mathematics, 0620 chemistry, 0625 physics, 0610 biology, 0500 first language English. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE uses its own: 4MA1, 4CH1, 4PH1, 4BI1. They appear on the statement of entry and in the exam information a school circulates, and the exams officer can confirm them in one email. Until you have them, any tutoring conversation is approximate.

Then comes verification, which is where this market is weakest. Listings say 'all subjects, all levels' because that maximises enquiries. A photograph of a degree certificate proves a degree. Years of experience prove longevity. None of those tell you whether the person has taught Cambridge 0620 Extended to a cohort and marked their papers against the published scheme. The information a parent needs is specific, and it is obtainable in a five-minute conversation if you know what to ask.

Our answer to all of this is structural rather than rhetorical. We ask for the board, the code and the tier first, match a tutor who has taught that exact course, read a marked script before anybody meets, and deliver the lesson one-to-one over live video so the match is not restricted to people who will drive to the Maliha Road. IB Gram does not run home visits anywhere in the UAE - that service exists only in India.

One cost note before the detail, because it affects the verification decision. Across published UAE rate cards an in-home visit is quoted between roughly AED 180 and 500 an hour once travel is absorbed, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor teaching online. The premium is the drive along the Maliha Road. Spending it narrows your choice of tutor at the same time as raising the price, which is an unusual combination and not one in your favour.

What follows is the practical version: how to identify the syllabus, what 'knows the syllabus' means subject by subject, what your child's school can and cannot tell you, how to use a trial lesson as a test rather than a sales call, where local supply genuinely exists, and what we do when nobody suitable is free.

At a glance

  • Cambridge codes are four digits; Pearson codes start with a 4
  • A mixed-curriculum district makes board identification a real task
  • Degrees and years of experience do not evidence course experience
  • A marked script is the fastest proof of syllabus knowledge there is
  • All UAE lessons are delivered online, one to one, over live video
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three British-track stages run through the schools near Al Juraina, and the verification question is different at each one. Here is what to check per stage.

LSECAges 11-14

Years 7 to 9, pre-IGCSE

No external examinations, so syllabus knowledge matters less than general teaching skill. What to verify here is simply whether the tutor can diagnose: can they look at a piece of work and name the underlying weakness - algebraic fluency, unit handling, writing that does not answer the question - rather than marking it and moving on.

In this part of Sharjah, where tuition centres are plentiful, families often buy long-running homework support at this stage. The useful test is whether the specific gap you started with has closed. If nobody can tell you, the arrangement is not being measured and the stage does not need it.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

Terminal written papers with published mark schemes, tiered into Core and Extended in most subjects. Here syllabus knowledge is decisive: a tutor should be able to name the papers, their weightings, the Extended-only content and the three topics where candidates most often lose marks, without being prompted.

Entries run through the school's centre, and each Cambridge centre belongs to one of six administrative zones with its own timetable version. Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who misses an examination after using the wrong zone timetable, so the exams officer's copy is the only one worth holding.

4MA1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The other route, with different codes, different paper structures and a recognisably different question style. Edexcel maths sets two equally weighted papers rather than Cambridge's tiered pattern. A tutor who has only taught Cambridge will give confident and wrong guidance about these papers, which is why the code is the first thing we ask for.

Pearson runs International GCSE in May/June and November. The November final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students the next day, and the November 2025 series results reached students on 22 January 2026. Work from the live official timetable.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

What 'knowing the syllabus' means in each subject, subject by subject. Use these as the questions you put to any tutor, local or online - the answers are audible even if you have no subject knowledge yourself.

Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core and Extended · Foundation and Higher

A specialist can say which paper is non-calculator, what the Extended tier adds, and that bounds, rearrangement under time pressure and multi-step problems abandoned early are where marks go. A generalist says the content is similar to other curricula, which is true and useless.

Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core and Extended · Single tier at Edexcel

The test here is the alternative-to-practical paper. A tutor who has taught 0625 will mention it unprompted and describe what it asks for - named instruments, variables, sources of error. One who has not will talk about experiments in general terms.

Chemistry (0620 / 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Ask what the mark scheme wants when a question asks for an observation. The right answer is the observation itself - 'a white precipitate forms' - not the conclusion. A tutor who has marked these papers answers immediately; one who has not finds the question odd.

Biology (0610 / 4BI1)

Core and Extended

The giveaway is command words. A specialist distinguishes describe, explain and suggest and can say what each earns on a long-answer question. A generalist treats them as synonyms, which is exactly the mistake their students will go on to make.

Coordinated Sciences (0654)

Double award

Three sciences compressed into two grades. The useful tutor asks which strand is dragging before agreeing to anything, because there is no time to treat all three equally and triage is the whole intervention.

First Language English (0500)

Single tier

Ask how they would raise a mark on directed writing. The answer should involve timed writing annotated against the mark scheme and a discussion of register. If it involves reading more books, the hours will be pleasant and the marks will not move.

English as a Second Language (0510 / 0511)

With or without speaking endorsement

A specialist knows the exercises are formulaic and will name them - note-making, summary with a word limit, register shift - and knows whether your child's entry carries the speaking endorsement. That last detail is frequently missed.

Business Studies and Economics (0450 / 0455)

Single tier

Case-study papers reward define, apply, evaluate with a judgement. Ask how marks are lost: the right answer is writing everything known about a concept rather than using it on the case in front of the candidate.

Computer Science (0478)

Single tier

Pseudocode conventions and trace tables cost more marks than programming ability. A tutor who codes professionally but has not taught this syllabus will teach the wrong thing competently, which is a particular trap in this subject.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways of working, all one-to-one over live video, all beginning with a free trial lesson taught by the tutor who would be assigned.

Code-matched weekly teaching

A fixed slot with a tutor who has taught the exact syllabus - board, code and tier - working from the syllabus document the school issues and from that board's past papers. The tutor's course experience is stated before you book, not implied afterwards.

  • Tutor's taught courses listed before booking
  • Practice from the correct board only
  • Written target list for the next six sessions

Verification trial

A free trial built as a test rather than a sales call. Send a marked mock; the tutor marks or re-marks it against the published scheme beforehand and opens the lesson by naming what the script shows. You keep the annotated paper whether or not you continue.

  • Script read before the lesson
  • Diagnosis in the first ten minutes
  • No payment, no card details, no minimum booking

Board-transition block

For students moving between systems - an Indian-curriculum school entering them for Cambridge papers, or a switch between Cambridge and Pearson. Two to four sessions on question phrasing, method expectations and paper structure, because the content is rarely the issue.

  • Side-by-side comparison of question styles
  • Method expectations made explicit
  • Finite: it ends when the script looks right

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Juraina

01

Step one: find out what your child is actually sitting

  • Statement of entry: board, code and tier per subject
  • Ask the exams officer if the document has not arrived
  • Ask for the internal entry-change deadline at the same time
  • Brief every tutor with the code, not the subject name

In a district where schools run several curricula, this is not a formality. We regularly receive enquiries that describe a student as 'doing IGCSE science' when the school has entered them for Cambridge Coordinated Sciences, or as 'on the British system' when the papers are Pearson Edexcel. Neither parent was careless; the information simply never reached them in a usable form.

The statement of entry is the primary document. It lists each subject with its code and tier, and it is issued well before the series. If it has not reached you, the exam information the school circulates usually carries the same detail, and the exams officer can confirm it in a sentence. Ask for three things: the board, the code, and the tier for each subject.

While you are asking, add a fourth: the school's internal deadline for changing an entry. That date sits earlier than the board's and is the one that constrains a tier change from Core to Extended. Families who discover a tier problem after a mock frequently find the internal deadline has passed, and the remaining option is the November series.

With those four facts, you can brief any tutor in one sentence - 'Cambridge 0620 Extended, Paper 4 is the weak one, mocks in January, internal entry deadline passed' - and the quality of responses you get will change immediately. A specialist will react to the detail. A generalist will reply to the subject name.

02

Step two: what 'knows the syllabus' sounds like

Parents are rarely in a position to assess subject knowledge directly, and confidence is easy to mistake for competence. The reliable approach is to ask questions whose answers only a person who has taught the paper can give, and then listen for specificity rather than reassurance.

The strongest single question is about where marks are lost, because the answer is a list and lists are hard to fake. In chemistry it should include mole ratios taken from the wrong species, electrolysis products guessed rather than reasoned, and observations written as conclusions. In physics, parallel circuits, gradients read instead of calculated, and vague answers on the alternative-to-practical paper. In maths, bounds, rearrangement under time pressure, and multi-step problems abandoned one step early.

The second strongest is about the final six weeks. A specialist describes a shift to complete papers under timing, marked against the published mark scheme, with errors logged by question type. A generalist says there will be more revision and more past papers, without a protocol for either.

The third is a request rather than a question: ask them to mark a recent script before you meet. A tutor who has taught the course will do it willingly, because the annotated paper argues their case better than any conversation. One who prefers to talk about rapport is telling you which of the two they are stronger at - and rapport matters, but it is not what is failing in most Year 11 subjects.

03

What your child's school can and cannot tell you

Schools are the best source of information about the entry and a poor source of information about tutoring, and it is worth knowing which questions belong where.

What a school can give you: the board, the code and the tier; the internal entry-change deadline; the mock window; the marked mock script; the head of department's view of which topics are weak; and in many cases a frank answer about how many teachers have taught the current cohort. All of that is useful and most of it is simply not asked for.

What a school cannot properly do is recommend a private tutor, and you should be cautious if one does. Abu Dhabi's regulator has published professional-ethics rules barring private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE private tutor permit carries a code of conduct pointing the same way. Hiring the person who marks your child's work creates a conflict in both the marking and the reporting.

Schools also cannot tell you how your child compares with candidates elsewhere, only with their own cohort. A strong set in a weak year group and a middling set in a strong one look identical on a report. That is one of the few genuine arguments for an outside opinion: a specialist who marks scripts from many schools has a wider reference point than any single department does.

There is one more thing worth asking the school, and it is the most awkward: whether the department considers your child's current tier correct. The answer shapes everything a tutor should do. If the school believes Extended is a stretch and the family believes otherwise, that disagreement needs resolving with past-paper evidence before anybody spends a term teaching towards the wrong target.

04

Why local supply thins exactly where you need it

  • Narrow expertise has a narrow market and fills up early
  • Peak demand lands exactly when most families start searching
  • A fortnightly slot held early converts into a weekly block later
  • Removing the distance filter is what produces real choice

Al Juraina sits in a well-supplied part of Sharjah, so it is reasonable to ask why a specialist is still hard to find locally. The answer is in the arithmetic of narrow expertise.

A tutor who teaches maths across several year groups has a large addressable market and fills their week easily. A tutor who has taught Cambridge 0620 Extended for years, marks to the scheme and knows the Paper 6 technique has a much narrower market, and their availability is consumed by whoever found them first. There are not many such people in any emirate, and they are distributed by where they happen to live.

Seasonality makes it worse. Demand concentrates in the eight to ten weeks before a series, which is exactly when families start looking. At that point the specialists are committed and the local list skews to generalists and awkward hours. The quality decision has effectively been taken by the calendar.

It is worth noticing that the summer is the inverse of the peak: many local tutors travel, so neighbourhood supply thins, while the national online pool is at its most available. For a family planning a bridge block before Year 11, that is the cheapest access to a specialist available all year.

Two practical responses. First, book the scarce course early, even at a low frequency - a fortnightly slot held from the start of the year converts easily into a weekly one in the final block. Second, stop filtering by distance. Over video, the pool is national rather than local, which is the difference between a short list of generalists and a real choice of specialists. For families here, the second response is the one that changes the outcome.

HOW SUPPLY CHANGES THROUGH THE YEAR FOR A NARROW COURSE

05

Using the trial lesson as a test

Almost everybody offers something free, and the variety is wide. A trial is only useful if it answers the question you actually have, which is whether this tutor knows this course and can work with this child.

To make it a test, do three things. Send a marked script in advance and ask for it to be read. Ask who will teach the trial and whether they are the tutor who would be assigned afterwards - a senior demonstrator followed by a different allocated tutor is a common and unhelpful pattern. And listen to the first ten minutes: a specialist opens with what the script shows, not with an introduction.

Things that should make you pause. A grade prediction at the end of a free lesson - nobody can know what a candidate will score, and a number offered that early is a sales instrument. A request for card details for something described as free. A condition on the word 'free' that was not stated on the same screen. And an unwillingness to say which specific courses the tutor has taught.

Our trial is a full one-to-one lesson over live video, with no payment and no card details, taught by the tutor who would be assigned. The marked script and the tutor's written view of what the remaining weeks can realistically change are yours whether or not you continue. That is deliberately a low-risk way to resolve a question this market usually resolves only after money has changed hands.

06

The permit question, and the one conflict to avoid

Verification has a legal dimension as well as an academic one, and both questions are easy to ask.

Private tutoring in the UAE requires a work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own private tutor licensing service is the application route, with a stated completion time of two working days.

Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so ignore any figure quoted at you - including by a tutor explaining why they would rather not discuss it. Because the permit costs nothing and takes days, a working tutor has no practical reason to be without one, and the answer to the question is informative either way.

The conflict to avoid is hiring your child's own teacher. Beyond the published ethics rules in Abu Dhabi and the permit's code of conduct, the problem is structural: the person marking your child's work should not be on your payroll. An independent specialist gives you something a school-based arrangement cannot - an outside opinion on where your child actually stands. For our part, IB Gram holds no approval, licence or accreditation from SPEA, KHDA or any other UAE authority, and we have no premises in this country.

07

When the answer is honestly 'nobody right now'

  • Narrow courses and peak hours sometimes have nobody free
  • Options offered: another hour, a named date, or a referral
  • No generalist substitutions during a deadline block
  • No claims that eight weeks can replace two years of teaching

Every page in this market implies infinite availability. It is not true anywhere, and pretending otherwise is how families lose a term.

Some requests are genuinely hard to fill. Additional Mathematics 0606 at a peak evening hour. Computer science 0478 with somebody who has taught the pseudocode conventions rather than just programming. A specific board's business studies paper in the fortnight before a series. For these, the honest set of options is a different hour with the right person, a named date when a slot opens, or a referral to a different kind of provision.

What we will not do is fill the slot with a generalist and let the family discover the mismatch over six weeks. In a ten-week block that substitution costs exactly the weeks the family came to buy, and it is the single most damaging thing a matching service can do. A clear no, delivered early, leaves a family able to make another plan.

There is a version of this that works in a family's favour. If we cannot fill a weekday slot but can offer a weekend morning, that is often the better arrangement anyway for a student with a long school day, so a refusal sometimes produces a better plan than the original request would have.

The same honesty applies to what tutoring can achieve. Eight weeks changes technique, timing and repeated errors. It does not reteach two years of content, and a provider who says otherwise is selling hours. We would rather tell you which topics are being abandoned, early, than produce a schedule that quietly assumes a student can cover everything.

Coursework, materials and the limits that do not move

A page about verification should be explicit about the things a parent should never need to verify, because they are fixed commitments rather than variables.

A tutor may teach the content, diagnose from a script, drill command terms, mark to a published mark scheme, and give feedback on the student's own work. A tutor may not write, draft, rewrite or edit any part of assessed coursework, and we do not supply completed coursework. Operations that do appear in these search results at prices in the thousands of dirhams; the malpractice consequence lands on the student rather than the seller.

On materials: syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables belong to Cambridge and Pearson. We cite the official sources and point families to the school for current versions, which is also the correct route because syllabuses change between cycles. A provider offering a shared drive full of board material is distributing somebody else's copyright, and where the material is unreleased the exposure is a malpractice question attached to your child.

These limits are not negotiable under deadline pressure, which is the only time anybody tries to negotiate them. Agreeing them before a term starts means the awkward conversation never happens at eleven o'clock the night before a submission, which is when families make decisions they later regret.

And on outcomes: no tutor can know what a particular candidate will score, so there are no grade guarantees here, no promised improvements and no refund tied to a result. What we will commit to is a written plan, marking against the real mark scheme, a review at six sessions on timed scores, and a straight answer when something is not working.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Juraina

Where tutoring supply around Al Juraina genuinely sits, and what each neighbouring area is actually good for.

Al Qasimia

Immediately north, densely supplied and the source of most local recommendations here. Good for British and Indian curriculum generalists; thin on single-code specialists, like everywhere else.

Al Majaz

The emirate's longest-established tutoring district. The deepest local pool, including a few genuine subject specialists, and the first area to be fully booked in the weeks before a series.

Al Khan

Short journeys and overlapping supply with Al Juraina. Useful for comparing quotes: a sharp difference between an Al Khan quote and a Muwaileh quote is usually the drive rather than the teaching.

Muwaileh

A separate school cluster to the east with its own tutors and its own mock calendar. Tutors travelling from here price the Maliha Road journey into an in-home rate.

University City

Where the budget band originates. University students may hold the private tuition work permit, and the verification question matters most here: ask which specific papers they have taught.

Abu Shagara

Heavily served by Indian-curriculum schools, so board identification is the first task for candidates from this direction. Short journeys make earlier sessions realistic.

Al Nahda, Sharjah

Dubai-facing, with families using Dubai schools and sometimes Dubai tutors at Dubai prices. Online, a Dubai-based specialist costs no more to reach than a local one.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Get the board, code and tier

One email to the exams officer produces all three, plus the internal entry-change deadline. In a district where schools run several curricula this is the step that makes everything afterwards accurate, and it is the step most enquiries skip.

  2. 02

    Send a marked script

The matched tutor reads or re-marks it against the published scheme before you meet. That is also your verification: a tutor who engages with the script in specifics has taught the paper, and one who talks around it has not.

  3. 03

Free trial with the assigned tutor

A full one-to-one lesson over live video, no payment and no card details, taught by the person who would teach the term. You keep the annotated script and a written view of what the remaining weeks can change, whether or not you continue.

  4. 04

Weekly slot, written plan, review at six

A fixed hour in Gulf Standard Time around the school run, a target list for the next six sessions, and a review on timed scores rather than attendance. If the fit is wrong we change the tutor and keep the plan.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The code comes before the conversation

We ask for the board, syllabus code and tier before anything else, which in a mixed-curriculum district is the difference between a specialist match and a guess. A tutor who never asks for the code will never use it.

Course experience stated, not implied

Tutors are listed against the courses they have actually taught rather than against 'all subjects, all levels'. You can ask what they have taught and get a list, which is the only credential that predicts anything in this work.

The script does the verifying

A marked paper read before the first meeting proves more about a tutor than any certificate. It also means the first paid hour is teaching rather than diagnosis, which is where this market quietly loses families money.

A national pool for a narrow request

Single-code specialists are scarce and scattered, and the ones who exist are booked by the time most families start looking. Teaching over live video removes the distance filter so the choice is real. IB Gram runs no UAE home visits; that service exists only in India.

A clear no when there is one

If nobody has taught your child's course and is free at the hour you need, we say so and offer another hour or a named date. Substituting a generalist into a deadline block is the fastest way to waste a family's term, so we do not do it.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Juraina: your questions answered

How do I check a tutor has really taught my child's IGCSE syllabus?+

Ask three things and listen for specifics. Which topics do candidates lose most marks on in this subject - a specialist answers with a list, naming topics and question types. What changes in the final six weeks - the right answer involves full papers under timing, marked against the published mark scheme, with errors logged by question type. And will you mark a recent mock before we meet - somebody who has taught the course says yes immediately, because the annotated script makes their case better than any conversation can.

My child's school teaches an Indian curriculum but enters them for IGCSE. Who do we need?+

Somebody who has taught that board's papers, not somebody who knows the content. The mathematics and science overlap between systems is substantial, so the gap is examination behaviour: question phrasing, the expectation that method is shown, and command terms treated as precise instructions. Two to four board-specific sessions working through past papers, marked against the published scheme, usually close that gap faster than more content teaching. Get the code from the statement of entry first - it decides which board's papers to practise.

Where exactly do I find the syllabus code?+

On the statement of entry, which lists each subject with its code and tier, and usually in the exam information your school circulates. Cambridge codes are four digits - 0580 maths, 0620 chemistry, 0625 physics, 0610 biology, 0500 first language English. Pearson Edexcel codes begin with a 4: 4MA1, 4CH1, 4PH1, 4BI1. If neither document is to hand, the exams officer can confirm board, code and tier in one reply, and it is worth asking for the internal entry-change deadline in the same email.

Is a degree in the subject enough to teach the IGCSE paper?+

It is necessary and not sufficient. A chemistry graduate knows more chemistry than the syllabus requires and may not know that the mark scheme wants an observation rather than a conclusion, or how Paper 6 differs from Paper 4, or which organic conditions candidates habitually omit. Teaching a specified examination is a particular skill built by teaching it repeatedly and marking it against the scheme. Ask what they have taught and how recently, rather than what they studied.

Can the school recommend a private tutor for us?+

Schools can give you a great deal - board, code, tier, internal deadlines, the marked mock, a head of department's view of weak topics - and you should be cautious about taking a tutor recommendation, particularly if it is a member of staff. Abu Dhabi's regulator has published professional-ethics rules barring school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit carries a code of conduct pointing the same way. The person who marks your child's work should not be on your payroll.

Why is it so hard to find a single-subject specialist in central Sharjah?+

Because narrow expertise has a narrow market. A tutor who teaches maths across several year groups fills their week easily; one who has taught Cambridge 0620 Extended for years and marks to the scheme is a rarer person whose hours are taken by whoever found them first. Demand then concentrates in the eight to ten weeks before a series, which is when most families start looking, so the local list skews to generalists. Removing the distance filter is what turns a short list into a real choice.

What should I send when I first make contact with a tutoring service?+

Five things, and it fits in a short message: the board, the syllabus code and tier, the year group, the next dated assessment, and a marked script if one exists. That is enough for a specialist match and for an honest answer about what the available weeks can change. Enquiries that say 'Year 11 science, needs help' get a generic reply from everybody in this market, because there is nothing in them to respond to specifically.

Should the trial lesson be with the tutor who will actually teach?+

Yes, and it is worth asking explicitly, because a trial taught by a senior demonstrator followed by a different allocated tutor is a common pattern and answers the wrong question. A trial exists to establish whether this tutor knows this course and can work with this child. Ours is a full one-to-one lesson over live video with the assigned tutor, no payment and no card details, and you keep the marked script and the tutor's written view either way.

A tutor predicted a grade in the first session. Is that a good sign?+

It is a reason for caution. Nobody can know what a particular candidate will score: the paper, the day, the boundaries and the student's own performance are all outside anybody's control. A number offered in a first or free session is a sales instrument rather than a professional judgement, and a provider comfortable making it will be comfortable making other claims. What a good tutor will give you after reading a script is a list of what is recoverable and what is not, which is more useful and less flattering.

Do we need the same tutor for two IGCSE sciences?+

Not necessarily, and often not ideally. Chemistry and physics at Extended level have different failure modes and different papers, including the alternative-to-practical technique, and a tutor strong in one is frequently approximate in the other. Where a tutor has genuinely taught both, one person is convenient. Where they have not, two specialists in consecutive slots will produce better teaching for a similar total. Ask what each has taught rather than assuming science is one subject.

Does a tutor in Al Juraina need a permit, and can I ask to see it?+

Yes to both. The private tutor work permit was introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own private tutor licensing service handles applications in about two working days. Those tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws.

Which series will my child sit, and what if June goes wrong?+

Cambridge runs June and November series, and UAE candidates sit those two; the February/March series is offered in India only. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. November is the standard resit route, and results from a November series reach students in January - the November 2025 cohort received theirs on 22 January 2026. Before entering, confirm that the receiving sixth form or university accepts a January result and confirm the entry route with the school or a registered centre.

Can a tutor help with coursework in IGCSE subjects that still have it?+

With the teaching and the feedback, yes; with the writing, no. A tutor may explain what the task requires, question a plan, teach the skill involved, and explain why a paragraph does not answer the question asked. A tutor may not write, redraft or edit any part of the submitted work, and IB Gram does not supply completed coursework. Services that sell finished assessments appear in these search results at prices in the thousands of dirhams, and the consequence falls on the student rather than the seller.

What if nobody has taught my child's exact course at the hour we need?+

We tell you, and we offer a different hour with the right specialist or a named date when one frees up. Narrow requests - Additional Mathematics 0606, computer science 0478, a specific board's business paper in peak weeks - sometimes have nobody available. What we will not do is put a generalist into a deadline block and leave a family to discover the mismatch over six weeks, because that substitution costs exactly the weeks they were trying to buy.

Send the code and a script, and we will do the rest

Availability was never your problem in central Sharjah; verification was. So start with the two things that settle it: the board, syllabus code and tier from your child's statement of entry, and a recent marked script. We will match a tutor who has taught that exact course, re-mark the script against the published scheme, and run a free trial lesson over live video with the tutor who would teach the term. No payment, no card details, and the annotated paper is yours either way. Lessons for Al Juraina families are one-to-one and online.
