IB Home Tutor in Sharjah Garden City

Most families looking for an IB home tutor in Sharjah Garden City are not shopping for a subject expert in the abstract. They are looking at a date - a mock week, an internal assessment deadline, the May session - and working out whether there is enough time left. This page is written from that calendar: what each term of the Diploma Programme actually owes a student, what eight weeks can realistically change, and why lessons delivered online over live video survive a timetable that an in-home visit on this corridor often cannot.

  • Plans built backwards from your child's own deadline
  • Same tutor each week, with a written six-session target list
  • Internal assessment coaching that never touches the student's words
  • One-to-one over live video; no home visits anywhere in the UAE

IB & IGCSE in Sharjah Garden City

Start with the date, not the subject

Ask a parent in Sharjah Garden City why they are looking for an IB tutor and the answer almost always contains a date. The report came home in November. Mocks are in six weeks. The chemistry internal assessment draft is due before the holiday. DP2 starts in August and nothing was done over the summer. The subject matters, but the date is what creates the urgency, and the date is what should shape the plan.

That is not how tutoring is usually sold. The standard offer is a weekly hour, indefinitely, in a subject. It suits the provider because it is simple to schedule and it renews itself. It suits a student far less, because the Diploma Programme does not apply pressure evenly. There are weeks in DP1 where almost nothing is due and weeks in DP2 where an internal assessment, a Theory of Knowledge essay draft and three tests collide. A plan that ignores that shape wastes the quiet weeks and arrives short in the loud ones.

Sharjah Garden City sits on the emirate's southern corridor, which adds a practical constraint. Diploma Programme provision in this emirate is concentrated in a small number of schools, so children here often travel a distance to school. A tutor who also has to drive, in the same afternoon traffic, can usually offer only a late slot - and a late slot in the week before a deadline is worth less than a punctual one on the right evening. Teaching over video removes the journey from both sides of the arrangement.

So the shape of our work here is a backwards plan. Name the deadline. Work out what has to be true a fortnight before it, then six weeks before it, then now. Decide what the weekly hour is for in each of those phases, because it should not be the same thing in all three. Teaching content, practising under time and repairing specific errors are different activities, and ordering them correctly is most of what a good tutor contributes.

One consequence of planning this way is that we sometimes recommend fewer hours than a family expected to buy. A DP1 student with a settled exploration question and no immediate deadline may need a fortnightly session rather than a weekly one, with the saved budget held for the term when internal assessments and revision collide. A provider paid by the hour has no reason to say that, which is exactly why a plan with dates in it protects the family as much as it protects the student.

The rest of this page sets that out in detail: the Diploma Programme year counted backwards, what an eight-week block can and cannot achieve, how the Middle Years criteria shape the earlier years, where Ramadan and the holiday pattern change the arithmetic, what two years of support actually costs, and where the line sits on assessed work when a deadline is close.

At a glance

  • Every plan starts from a dated deadline, not from a weekly habit
  • Eight weeks is enough to change technique; it is not enough to teach two years
  • Internal assessment deadlines are set by the school, earlier than the board's
  • Lessons are one-to-one over live video - IB Gram runs no UAE home visits
  • Quiet weeks in DP1 are the cheapest time to fix anything
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The three IB stages apply pressure at different points in the year, and a tutoring plan that works for one is wrong for another. Here is what each stage demands and when it demands it.

PYPAges 3-12

Primary Years Programme

Inquiry-led, with no external examinations, so the calendar pressure is internal: unit assessments, the exhibition in the final year, and the reading and number fluency that the Middle Years will assume. Support at this stage should be short and frequent rather than intensive, and it should be stopped when the gap closes.

Families moving into Sharjah Garden City from other systems often arrive mid-year, and a PYP class does not pause for them. The useful tutoring window is the first term after arrival, aimed at the specific gap the move created rather than at general enrichment.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

Middle Years Programme

Assessed against criteria by letter, with task-specific descriptors issued per assignment. The calendar here is a sequence of criterion-marked tasks spread through the year, which means the student's grade is decided in pieces. A weak task in the second term cannot be revised away in the fourth; it has to be outscored by later work.

Sharjah schools timetable mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and social studies alongside the Middle Years curriculum, so the week is full. Evening sessions here work best at forty-five minutes on one criterion rather than a long general hour.

DPAges 16-19 · DP1-DP2

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, Theory of Knowledge, an extended essay and creativity, activity, service, finishing with terminal examinations in the session the school enters. Internal assessments are marked against published criteria and moderated. The characteristic failure is not difficulty but collision: several deadlines landing in one fortnight of DP2 while revision should already be under way.

UAE schools sit the May session. We do not publish IB examination or results dates on this page because the IB's own site could not be verified by us directly; your school's IB coordinator holds the confirmed dates, and those are the ones a plan should be built on.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Each subject below is described by when it hurts rather than by what it covers, because a parent planning from a calendar needs to know which month to worry about.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The exploration is usually proposed late in DP1 and written over a holiday. Students who choose a broad question lose a term to rework. Calculus content builds through DP2, so a gap left in differentiation in the first year resurfaces exactly when revision should be starting.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistical content is front-loaded at higher level and catches students who chose the course as the lighter option. The exploration needs data that genuinely exists, which is a decision to make early rather than a sentence to write late.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics and equilibrium in DP1, organic depth in DP2, and an internal assessment whose variables must be controlled rather than interesting. The practical work is typically done months before the write-up, so poor planning in the first year cannot be fixed by good writing in the second.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics in the first year decides how the fields and circuits content lands in the second. The investigation rewards honest uncertainty treatment over ambition, and the time to say so is at the proposal stage, not at the draft.

Biology

HL and SL

Content accumulates steadily, so students who revise only before tests arrive at the final term with two years of unconsolidated material. Data-based questions and statistics in the investigation are where marks move fastest with targeted practice.

Economics

HL and SL

Three commentaries spread across both years, each tied to a current article and one section of the syllabus. Students who leave all three to DP2 compromise both the commentaries and their revision. Diagram accuracy is quick to fix and routinely neglected.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The individual oral is a scheduled event, not a piece of writing, and rehearsal has to be booked into the calendar weeks ahead. The higher level essay needs a text chosen early enough to reread properly.

Theory of Knowledge and the extended essay

Core components

Both run alongside six subjects and both are scheduled by the school, with internal deadlines well before anything the IB sees. These are the two components most often left late, and the two where lateness is least recoverable. Coaching here is about sequence, questions and criteria - never about writing the text.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways of working, each tied to a different position in the calendar. All are one-to-one over live video, and all start with a free trial lesson.

Term-long weekly slot

The right shape for DP1 and the Middle Years, when the job is building content and habits while pressure is low. One fixed hour a week, same tutor, with a written list of the next six sessions' targets so the quiet term produces visible progress rather than comfortable company.

  • Same tutor and time each week, in Gulf Standard Time
  • Six-session target list written at the start
  • Review on marks at session six

Eight-week deadline block

Built backwards from a mock week, an internal assessment deadline or the final series. Content teaching stops early in the block; timed work and error repair take over. The block has an end date, and we say when it is finished rather than letting it roll.

  • Phase one: close the two or three largest gaps
  • Phase two: full timed papers, marked to the criteria or mark scheme
  • Phase three: error log only, no new material

Deadline triage

For the fortnight where everything lands at once. The tutor's job here is sequencing: which piece is finished first, what good enough looks like for each, and what gets dropped. Less teaching, more project management, and it is the single most requested conversation in DP2.

  • One session to map every deadline in the window
  • Explicit decisions about what is finished to what standard
  • Short check-ins rather than full lessons

01

What a parent in Sharjah Garden City is really asking about time

  • Name the deadline before choosing a tutor or a frequency
  • Ask what can and cannot change in the time left, and expect a list
  • A punctual slot in a deadline week is worth more than a longer late one
  • If nothing is dated, the weekly hour has no way of proving its worth

The question behind the search is rarely 'who teaches chemistry'. It is 'is it too late'. That question deserves a straight answer, and the answer depends entirely on which deadline is in view. Eight weeks before a mock, a great deal is possible. Eight weeks before an internal assessment draft, a lot is possible but the practical work may already constrain it. Eight weeks before the final session, technique and error repair are available and reteaching two years of content is not.

This is where most tutoring conversations go wrong. A provider who says yes to everything will tell a family in March that a Diploma student can be transformed by May. A provider who says no to everything loses the family a term of useful work. The accurate answer is a list: these things can change in the time available, those cannot, and here is what the hours would be spent on.

There is a second time question specific to this corridor. A weekday session has to start after a school run that can be long, because Diploma provision in this emirate is concentrated in a few schools. If a tutor is also driving, the realistic start slips later, and a late start in a deadline week is when sessions get cancelled. Online lessons start when the student is home and ready, which sounds minor and is the difference between eight sessions and five in an eight-week block.

So before anything else, we ask for the date. Mock week, draft deadline, the school's internal submission date, the session the school has entered. From there the plan is arithmetic rather than optimism.

02

The Diploma Programme counted backwards

Almost nobody publishes this, which is strange, because it is the thing a parent most needs. The Diploma Programme is two years long and the pressure is unevenly distributed. Working backwards from the session a school enters, the shape is reliable enough to plan against even though the exact dates belong to each school's own calendar.

The final term is revision and examinations, with nothing new taught. The term before it is where internal assessments, the extended essay and Theory of Knowledge must be finished, because they cannot be done during revision. The year before that - DP1 - is when subject content is built, the exploration or investigation is proposed and the practical work is done. The quiet weeks in DP1 are therefore the most valuable tutoring weeks in the whole programme, and they are the ones families skip.

Two warnings about dates. First, the deadline that binds your child is the school's internal one, not the board's, and it is usually earlier than parents assume. Ask the coordinator for the written internal calendar at the start of DP2; most schools will supply it and most families never request it. Second, we deliberately do not publish IB examination or results dates on this page: we could not verify them from the IB's own site, and a wrong date on a page like this is worse than no date at all. Your school's IB coordinator has the confirmed version.

For British-track siblings in the same household, the comparable facts are published and verifiable. Cambridge runs June and November series for UAE candidates, and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November - the November final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, with results reaching students in January.

03

What eight weeks can actually change

Eight weeks is the planning unit we use because it is long enough to show measurable movement and short enough that a family can see the end of it. Inside eight weeks, with one or two sessions a week, three things reliably improve: question technique, timing, and the specific errors a student repeats. Those are worth real marks, particularly in subjects where students know more than their scripts suggest.

What eight weeks does not do is replace a year of content. If a Diploma student has not understood differentiation, or has never securely learned the chemistry of equilibrium, the block can prioritise the highest-value topics and will have to leave others alone. Deciding which to abandon is uncomfortable and is exactly what a specialist is for. A tutor who promises to cover everything in eight weeks is planning to cover nothing properly.

The internal structure of a block matters more than its length. The first two or three sessions close the largest gaps and establish a baseline on a timed paper. The middle sessions are full timed work, marked against the published criteria or mark scheme, with an error log kept by question type. The last two weeks introduce nothing new; they review the log. Families who start this sequence too late end up doing the first phase in the week that should have been the last.

We write the block down and review at session six against marks, not effort. If the movement is not there, we would rather change the tutor or the approach than extend the arrangement quietly for another term.

04

The Middle Years calendar, where the damage is usually done

  • Criterion grades, not percentages, are the signal worth reading
  • Each task is marked once; weak terms are outscored, not revised
  • Command terms and investigation structure transfer directly into the Diploma
  • Mandatory UAE subjects fill the week, so sessions should be short and specific

Parents arrive in the Diploma Programme worrying about the Diploma Programme. In practice a large share of DP difficulty is inherited from the Middle Years, and the inheritance is visible years earlier if anybody is reading the criteria rather than the grade.

Middle Years assessment is criterion-based, with achievement levels against criteria by letter and task-specific descriptors issued per assignment. A student can score respectably by being diligent and still never master the thing the criteria reward: using command terms precisely, structuring an investigation, and justifying a conclusion from the evidence actually collected. Those are the exact skills the Diploma then assumes, in subjects where there is no time to teach them.

The calendar point is that Middle Years tasks are spread through the year and each one is marked once. There is no terminal paper to rescue a weak term, so a poor task in the second term has to be outscored later rather than revised away. That makes early, specific intervention unusually efficient: a few sessions on investigation structure before the next science task is worth more than a term of homework supervision.

In Sharjah the week is also fuller than in many systems, because private schools must teach Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies alongside the licensed curriculum under federal regulations. Short, criterion-focused sessions respect that reality. Long general ones compete with homework and lose.

The diagnostic question for a parent is simple enough to ask at the next parents' evening: which criterion is my child weakest on, and what would a higher level of achievement look like on that criterion in the next task? A teacher can answer that in a sentence. If nobody can, the grade on the report is not telling you what you think it is.

05

Ramadan, holidays and the weeks that quietly disappear

Every academic plan in this country has to survive Ramadan, and most tutoring plans are written as if it does not exist. School days shorten, afternoons are low in energy, and the useful working hours move. Families commonly shift sessions to after Iftar, or to late morning at the weekend, and a plan written in advance for that month keeps its momentum while an improvised one loses three weeks.

The same is true of the long summer break between DP1 and DP2. It is the single quietest working window in the Diploma Programme and the obvious time to settle an exploration question, do the reading for an extended essay, or close a content gap that has been dragging since the Middle Years. Most students do none of it, which is why the first month of DP2 so often starts with a backlog.

Holiday travel is the other recurring disruption on this corridor, where many families spend part of the summer abroad. An online slot follows the student, with the timezone adjusted, which is a genuine practical advantage over an arrangement that depends on somebody driving to an address. Three sessions during a six-week absence keep an internal assessment moving; zero sessions mean September starts behind.

Finally, the school's own calendar in Sharjah is approved in a regulated framework: the Sharjah Private Education Authority regulates private schools in the emirate and, with Ras Al Khaimah's Department of Knowledge, approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. The practical takeaway is that your school's dates and assessment pattern are not arbitrary, and asking for them in writing is a reasonable request.

06

What two years of IB support costs, not what an hour costs

Hourly rates are the wrong unit for a two-year programme. A family deciding whether to support a Diploma student needs the total, because the decision that matters is whether the arrangement can be sustained into DP2 when it is needed most. Starting at a rate that cannot be maintained is a common and avoidable error.

In market terms, published UAE rate cards put budget online tutoring from about AED 45 an hour, a qualified subject tutor teaching online between roughly AED 150 and 300, an in-home visit between AED 180 and 500 once travel is absorbed, and named or examiner-branded tutoring at AED 500 to 650 and above. Bestimate's Dubai cost estimates, read in October 2026, translate a single weekly session into roughly AED 600 to 1,200 a month with a qualified tutor and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support.

Put across a Diploma, the useful comparison is not hour against hour but pattern against pattern. One subject supported weekly through both years costs considerably more in total than two focused eight-week blocks per year placed where the deadlines are, and for many students the blocks produce more because the hours arrive when they can be used. The table below sets out the arithmetic so a family can choose deliberately.

These are market figures, published so you can judge any quote you receive against them, including ours. There is no IB Gram price list on this page; ask us directly and begin with the free trial lesson. And note what the in-home premium is buying: a car on the southern corridor, not deeper knowledge of an internal assessment criterion.

Online lessons when the deadline is close

In a deadline week, the properties of a lesson that matter are different from the ones families weigh when choosing a tutor in September. Punctuality matters more. The ability to move a session by two hours matters more. Having last week's annotated work in front of both people matters more. Rapport matters less than it did, because the work is now specific.

Online lessons are stronger on all three of those. There is no journey to be late for, a slot can shift at short notice without renegotiating anybody's drive, and the archive of marked work sits in one place rather than in a notebook that stayed at school. Against that, a student needs a quiet room and a working headset, and some genuinely concentrate better with a person beside them.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE - home tutoring in a family's house is something we run only in India - so the honest framing is that online is what we do and the free trial lesson is how you find out whether it suits your child. That is a better test than any argument on a web page, and it costs nothing.

What we will not do is imply a car is coming. Several pages in this search result are vague about delivery and resolve into a video call after a deposit. For a family working to a dated plan, knowing exactly what is being delivered is part of the plan.

Deadline pressure and academic honesty

The week before an internal assessment deadline is when families are most tempted and most vulnerable. A student is behind, a parent is anxious, and the internet offers to solve it for a fee. This is the point at which the boundary needs to be known in advance, because nobody makes a good decision about it at eleven o'clock the night before.

The permitted help is substantial. A tutor may explain each criterion, question a research question until it can actually be answered, teach the statistics an investigation needs, point out that an evaluation does not address what the criterion asks, and demonstrate the same analytical move on different material. A tutor may not write, draft, rewrite or edit any part of the submitted work, and may not supply a ready-made topic with the thinking already done.

IB Gram does not sell completed internal assessments, extended essays, Theory of Knowledge essays or coursework. Operations that do appear in these search results at prices in the thousands of dirhams. The consequence of using one falls on the student, as a malpractice finding against their diploma, not on the seller. No grade is worth that, and no deadline justifies it.

The practical defence is calendar discipline, which is where this page started. Students who read the criteria in the first week, agree a deadline earlier than the school's, and show a draft to somebody three weeks out are not the students who end up negotiating with an essay mill. That sequence is cheap, and it is most of what our internal assessment coaching actually is.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Sharjah Garden City

What the calendar looks like from each of the areas around Sharjah Garden City, since the school a child attends sets both their deadline pattern and the hour a session can start.

Tilal City

The nearest community on the same southern corridor, with a similar profile: recent arrivals, long school runs and very few local tutors who have taught a Diploma subject to final-grade standard.

Muwaileh

The closest dense school cluster. Mock weeks at the schools here tend to fall earlier than families expect, which is why January enquiries from this direction are usually already inside an eight-week window.

Al Zahia

A near neighbour with the same southern commute. Sessions placed before six o'clock are realistic only when the student travels home directly, which is worth checking before a slot is fixed.

Aljada

Central and well served by schools, so families here have more local options and more group classes. Group classes are poorly suited to internal assessment work, which is individual by definition.

Al Majaz

The emirate's established tutoring district. Rates quoted from here assume a short journey, and the in-home premium rises when the drive out to the southern corridor is added.

Al Qasimia

Central Sharjah, with a long-standing mix of curricula. Its schools' internal deadline calendars differ from the southern schools', so sibling households sometimes juggle two different mock weeks.

University City

Source of most budget tutoring supply in southern Sharjah. University students may hold the private tuition permit, but few have supervised a Diploma internal assessment through a full cycle.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Sharjah Garden City

  • The American School of Creative Science, Sharjah

Schools families here also consider across the boundary

Some households on this corridor choose Dubai or Ajman schools instead, which changes the commute and therefore the earliest workable session time. It also means two children in one family can be working to different internal deadline calendars.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Send us the date

Mock week, internal assessment deadline, the school's internal submission calendar, the session the school has entered. Add the subject and level. We work backwards from the date rather than forwards from a weekly habit, so the deadline is the first thing we need.

  2. 02

A marked baseline before the trial

Where you can send a recent paper, test or draft, the tutor marks it before you meet. The free trial lesson then begins with evidence: what is costing marks, which criterion is weak, and what the available weeks can realistically change.

  3. 03

    A written block, phased

You get a plan with phases and an end date: gaps first, then timed work marked to the criteria or mark scheme, then error-log review only. Sessions are scheduled in Gulf Standard Time around the school run and any Ramadan or travel pattern.

  4. 04

Review at six sessions on marks

We check movement on timed work and criterion feedback rather than attendance. A wrong match is replaced without restarting the plan, and when a block has done its job we say so instead of letting it roll into another term.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Plans built backwards from a real date

Every arrangement starts from the deadline in front of the student, with phases and an end point. That is why our DP1 work looks different from our DP2 work, and why we will tell a family in the final weeks what is out of reach rather than selling them the hours anyway.

Honest about what the time can do

Eight weeks changes technique, timing and repeated errors. It does not reteach two years of content. Saying which topics are being abandoned is part of the plan, and a provider who claims to cover everything in the final stretch is planning to cover nothing properly.

The quiet terms are used

The cheapest marks in the Diploma are bought in DP1 and in the summer between the years, when nothing is due. Most families start when the pressure arrives. We will push for the earlier window because it is where the same money does more.

Delivery stated without ambiguity

All UAE lessons are one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not run home visits in the UAE; that service exists only in India. A family planning to a calendar should know exactly what arrives.

Assessed work remains the student's

Coaching on internal assessments means criteria, questions, data and feedback - never writing or editing the submitted text. We do not sell completed assessments, and the student is the only person who carries the consequence if somebody does.

Some tutors in the Sharjah market do travel to homes, and in-home rates are quoted between roughly AED 180 and 500 an hour once the drive is absorbed. IB Gram does not: we run no home visits anywhere in the UAE, because that service exists only in India. For families on this southern corridor the practical consequence is positive, since Diploma specialists are scarce locally and online matching reaches them wherever they live. Lessons are one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, and the free trial lesson lets you test the format before committing.

How late is too late to start IB tutoring before the final exams?+

It depends which deadline is in view. Eight weeks before a mock, a great deal is available. Eight weeks before an internal assessment deadline, the practical work may already limit what can change. Eight weeks before the final session, you can improve question technique, timing and repeated errors, and you cannot reteach two years of content. The useful answer from any tutor is a list of what will and will not change in the weeks available, with the topics being abandoned named explicitly rather than quietly skipped.

Which IB deadlines does a parent actually need in writing?+

Ask the coordinator for the school's internal calendar at the start of DP2: internal assessment submission dates per subject, the extended essay checkpoints, the Theory of Knowledge essay deadline, and the mock window. These internal dates bind your child and sit earlier than anything the board publishes. Most schools will provide the list and very few families request it. We do not publish IB examination or results dates on this page because we could not verify them from the IB's own site; the coordinator holds the confirmed version.

Is the summer between DP1 and DP2 really worth working through?+

It is the most efficient working window in the whole programme. Nothing is due, no tests compete for attention, and three or four sessions can settle an exploration question, do the reading for an extended essay, or close a content gap that has been dragging since the Middle Years. Students who use it start DP2 even; students who do not start behind and spend the first month catching up during the term when deadlines begin stacking. Because lessons are online, the sessions also survive a family travelling abroad for part of the break.

How many sessions a week should a Diploma student have?+

One a week per subject is the normal starting point and is sufficient when the student does the work between lessons. Two is justified inside a deadline block, when the work shifts to full timed papers that need marking and review. Beyond two in a single subject, the limiting factor becomes independent practice rather than teaching time, and the extra hour tends to produce dependence instead of marks. We review frequency at session six and will recommend reducing it when that is the honest call.

What does support across two years of the Diploma cost?+

Using market rates rather than ours: a qualified subject tutor online runs roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour across published UAE rate cards. Weekly support in one subject across both years is around seventy hours; two focused eight-week blocks a year is nearer fifty, and the final eight weeks alone is about twelve. Bestimate's Dubai estimates, read in October 2026, put a weekly session at AED 600 to 1,200 a month with a qualified tutor. Choose the pattern you can sustain into DP2, since that is the year that needs it.

How does Ramadan change an IB tutoring schedule?+

It moves the working hours rather than removing them. School days shorten, afternoons are low-energy, and most families shift sessions to after Iftar or to late morning at the weekend. The plan should be rewritten before the month starts, particularly for a DP2 student with an internal assessment deadline inside it, because improvising usually costs two or three weeks. An online slot can move by two hours without renegotiating a journey, which is the practical reason the format holds up better through Ramadan than an in-home arrangement.

My child's Middle Years grades look fine but their teachers mention criteria. Should I worry?+

Read the criterion letters rather than the overall grade. Middle Years subjects are assessed against criteria with task-specific descriptors, and a diligent student can score respectably while remaining weak at precisely what the Diploma will assume: using command terms accurately, structuring an investigation, and justifying a conclusion from the evidence collected. Those skills transfer directly, and they are far cheaper to fix in the Middle Years than in DP1. A few sessions aimed at one criterion before the next task is unusually efficient use of money.

What can a tutor legitimately do with an internal assessment that is behind schedule?+

Explain each criterion, question the research question until it can be answered with the data available, teach the statistics the investigation needs, read a draft and say which criterion is not being met, and model the same analytical move on different material. What a tutor cannot do is write, redraft or edit any part of the submitted work, or hand over a topic with the thinking already done. IB Gram does not sell completed internal assessments or extended essays. The malpractice consequence falls on the student, which is why the boundary is not negotiable.

Can you coach the extended essay and Theory of Knowledge to a school deadline?+

Yes, as coaching on sequence, question choice and criteria rather than as writing support. Both components run alongside six subjects, both are scheduled by the school with internal deadlines well before anything the IB sees, and both are routinely left late because neither has a weekly test to force progress. Useful sessions here look like project management: choosing a question that can actually be answered, agreeing checkpoints earlier than the school's, and reading drafts against the published descriptors. The student writes every word.

How do mock results change the plan?+

They should change it substantially, because a mock is the first honest timed evidence most students produce. We read the script rather than the grade: which question types lost marks, whether the paper was finished, whether errors are knowledge gaps or technique. A mock that reveals timing problems leads to a different eight weeks than one that reveals missing content. Bring the marked script to the trial lesson if you have it; it is worth more than any description of how the term has been going.

Can one tutor cover more than one of my child's IB subjects?+

Sometimes, within a group - maths and physics, or two humanities - and rarely across distant subjects. The honest position is that Diploma subjects are specialised enough that the second subject is usually taught less well than the first, and higher level content exposes that quickly. Where a family wants one point of contact, we would rather provide two specialists with consecutive slots on the same evening than a single tutor whose second subject is approximate. You can test both in free trial lessons before deciding.

Does SPEA regulate what my child's school can do with assessment dates?+

The Sharjah Private Education Authority regulates private schools in the emirate and, along with Ras Al Khaimah's Department of Knowledge, approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. So the assessment pattern and fee structure at a Sharjah school have been through an approval process rather than being set freely. Practically, this means asking your school for its written assessment calendar is a reasonable request about something already documented. IB Gram holds no approval or accreditation from SPEA or any other UAE authority.

What if we need a specialist in a narrow subject at a specific hour?+

Tell us the hour and the subject and we will give you a straight answer. Narrow Diploma requests - a higher level language, Theory of Knowledge coaching at a peak evening slot, a less common science at short notice - sometimes have nobody free, particularly in the weeks before a session. We will offer a different time with the right specialist, or a named date when one becomes available. We will not fill the slot with a generalist, because in a deadline block that choice costs a family the weeks they came for.
