IB & IGCSE in Al Juraina

What this actually costs, and where it leaks

Al Juraina sits in the older, central-southern part of Sharjah, off the Maliha Road, with schools and long-established tutoring supply close by. Families here are rarely short of options. What they are short of is a straight answer about money, because this market has a habit of discussing price only after a consultation.

So here are the numbers first. Across published UAE rate cards, budget online tutoring - usually delivered by university students - advertises from about AED 45 an hour. A qualified subject tutor teaching online runs roughly AED 150 to 300. An in-home one-to-one visit is quoted between AED 180 and 500 once travel is absorbed. An IB, IGCSE or A Level specialist sits at AED 200 to 450 and above, and named or examiner-branded tutoring reaches AED 500 to 650 or more. Monthly packages seen in the market include around AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions.

Those are market figures, read in October 2026 from competitor rate cards and from Bestimate's Dubai tutoring cost table. They are not our price list. Their purpose is comparison: once you know the bands, any quote you receive - including ours - can be judged rather than simply accepted or refused.

The more useful half of this page is about leakage, because the common problem in Al Juraina is not that families pay too much per hour. It is that they pay a reasonable rate for hours that could not have worked. Hours spent diagnosing what a marked script would have shown in twenty minutes. Hours in a quiet term with nothing dated to aim at. Hours of general revision in a subject that needed one topic repaired. Hours with a tutor who starts each session recapping the last one because nothing was written down.

There is also the travel premium, which is the only line in a tutoring budget that buys nothing academic. The gap between the online and in-home bands is a car. In central Sharjah that gap is smaller than on the outer corridors, and it is still the first place to look when a quote feels high. A longer drive does not improve anybody's understanding of an internal assessment criterion.

A word on why so few pages in this market will say any of this. Publishing a rate invites comparison, and comparison is uncomfortable when the premium in your model is travel or branding rather than teaching. Publishing bands with a source and a date is the opposite bet: it assumes a parent who can see the whole market makes a better decision, including the decision to buy from somebody else.

What follows sets out the four ways to read the same price, the five places money leaks, what a free trial should and should not mean, where group arrangements save genuinely and where they only appear to, and the things you should decline to pay for at any price.

  • Published market bands: AED 45-150 budget, 150-300 qualified online, 180-500 in-home
  • Monthly packages in the market: about AED 799 online, AED 1,599-1,799 in-home
  • The in-home premium pays for travel, not for subject knowledge

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The three IB stages cost different amounts to support properly, because they need different amounts of time. Here is what each typically requires before anybody quotes you an hourly rate.

PYPAges 3-12

Primary Years Programme

The cheapest stage to support and the easiest to overspend on. Useful work is short - twenty-five to forty minutes on one skill - and finite: reading fluency, number facts, writing that answers the question asked. A rolling weekly hour through a whole primary year is usually buying reassurance rather than progress.

In Al Juraina, with tuition centres and private tutors close by, primary support is often bought as a long-term habit. A better value test is whether the specific gap you started with has closed. If it has, stop; if nobody can tell you, the arrangement is not being measured.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

Middle Years Programme

Criterion-assessed with task-specific descriptors, and each task marked once. Support here is best bought in short blocks before tasks rather than as a continuous hour, which makes it one of the most cost-efficient stages: three or four sessions aimed at one criterion often lift the achievement level, and the skill transfers.

Families in this part of Sharjah frequently discover the Middle Years system late, because reports look reassuring until the Diploma arrives. Buying a few criterion-focused sessions at MYP 4 is substantially cheaper than buying a rescue in DP2.

DPAges 16-19 · DP1-DP2

Diploma Programme

The expensive one, because it runs two years and the pressure is uneven. Weekly support in a single subject across both years is roughly seventy hours. Two well-placed blocks a year is nearer fifty, and for many students produces more because the hours land where deadlines are.

Sharjah has a small number of schools authorised for the Diploma Programme, so local specialist supply is thin and in-home quotes for DP subjects sit at the top of the market range. Online matching removes the scarcity premium along with the travel one.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Diploma and Middle Years subjects we are asked for from central Sharjah, each with the cost note that matters: how many hours it usually takes, and what those hours should be spent on.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The highest-volume request and the one where hours are most often wasted on general revision. Money goes furthest on problem sets completed and corrected inside the session, plus a settled exploration question early rather than a rescued one late.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Frequently chosen as the lighter route and then found demanding at higher level. Hours are best spent on interpretation - explaining what a statistical result means - which is where the marks are and which costs less time to fix than calculation.

Chemistry

HL and SL

A small number of hours at the investigation planning stage saves a large number later, because practical work done with uncontrolled variables cannot be written out of trouble. Energetics and equilibrium reward revisiting a fortnight after teaching.

Physics

HL and SL

Short frequent practice is cheaper and more effective than long sessions. Twenty minutes of multi-step problems twice a week outperforms a monthly two-hour session that skims four topics.

Biology

HL and SL

The subject where a two-year backlog is most likely and most expensive. Ten minutes of retrieval on older material at the end of each session costs nothing and prevents the final term becoming relearning.

Economics

HL and SL

Three commentaries across both years. Carrying one forward in small steps is cheap; discovering all three outstanding in DP2 means paying for emergency hours at the point when revision also needs them.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Hours are wasted here when sessions are spent reading. They are well spent on timed analysis and on rehearsing the individual oral, which is an event with a date and needs diarising weeks ahead.

Theory of Knowledge and the extended essay

Core components

The best value in the whole programme if bought as fortnightly twenty-minute check-ins, and the worst if bought as emergency sessions in DP2. Neither sets weekly homework, which is precisely why both slip.

Middle Years criterion coaching

MYP 1-5

Short blocks before specific tasks. Three or four sessions on investigation structure or on justified conclusions typically move the achievement level, and the improvement carries into every later task in that subject.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to buy hours, with the cost logic of each stated plainly. All are one-to-one over live video and all begin with a free trial lesson at no cost.

Fortnightly, with blocks when it matters

The lowest-cost pattern that still works for a Diploma student: a fortnightly slot through quiet terms to keep pace and hold the relationship, converting to weekly or twice-weekly in the weeks before a deadline. It also protects access to a scarce specialist, who will be fully booked by the time the peak arrives.

  • Fortnightly in quiet terms, weekly in deadline blocks
  • Keeps a scarce tutor reserved at low cost
  • Reviewed each term against the school's dates

Short check-ins for the core components

Twenty to thirty minutes, fortnightly, on Theory of Knowledge and the extended essay, each ending with one named deliverable and a date. The cheapest insurance available in the Diploma, because the alternative is emergency hours during revision.

  • Short sessions, low cost, high leverage
  • Deadlines set earlier than the school's
  • No writing or editing by the tutor at any point

A finite repair block

Two to four sessions on one named weakness - a topic, a criterion, a paper technique - with a diagnostic before the first session and an explicit end. Families use this when the report is broadly fine but one thing keeps costing marks, and it is deliberately not a rolling arrangement.

  • Diagnostic question set before session one
  • Named target, fixed number of sessions
  • We say when it is finished

01

What families in this part of Sharjah are quoted

The spread is wide enough to confuse anybody: the same hour of tutoring is sold in this market anywhere between AED 45 and AED 650. Understanding what separates those numbers is most of what a parent needs, because the differences are not primarily about teaching quality.

At the bottom, budget platforms and university students. Published rate cards start from about AED 45 an hour, and the tutor is usually a capable undergraduate working from generic materials. For light homework support with a younger child this is often adequate. For a Diploma subject or an internal assessment it is not, and the gap shows up as hours spent pleasantly without marks moving.

In the middle, qualified subject tutors teaching online at roughly AED 150 to 300. This is where course-specific experience starts to be reliable: somebody who has taught the subject at the level your child is sitting, who marks against published criteria or mark schemes, and who keeps a record. For most Diploma and Middle Years work this band is where the useful teaching lives.

Above that, two different premiums. The in-home premium takes the same teaching to AED 180 to 500 an hour and buys travel. The brand premium takes it to AED 500 to 650 and above and buys reputation, often with a claim about examiner status that is rarely evidenced and never transfers to your child's paper. Neither premium changes what happens inside the hour, which is the only thing a family is really buying.

Five places the money reliably leaks

  • Paying full rate for diagnosis a marked script would have provided
  • Weekly hours in terms with nothing dated to aim at
  • A general course where a three-session repair was needed
  • No written record, so every session re-covers the last
  • The travel premium, which buys a car journey

In our experience of enquiries from central Sharjah, families who feel they wasted money rarely overpaid per hour. They bought hours that could not have worked, usually for one of five reasons.

The first is paying a tutor to diagnose. A specialist can read a marked script and name the three things costing marks in twenty minutes. A generalist discovers the same information over three or four sessions, at full rate, and the family pays for the education of the tutor. Ask for a marked script to be read before the first paid hour.

The second is hours bought in quiet terms with nothing dated to aim at. A weekly slot in DP1 with no deadline in sight produces pleasant, unmeasured sessions. The fix is not to stop - DP1 is the cheapest time to close gaps - but to give the hour a target: a topic test, a proposal, a timed paper.

The third is general revision where a repair was needed. A student losing marks only on electrolysis does not need a chemistry course; they need three sessions and a question set. Providers rarely propose the smaller thing. The fourth is the undocumented tutor: if nothing is written down, each session starts by recapping the last, and a family pays for the same ground twice. The fifth is the travel premium, which is pure cost.

Taken together these five explain most of the dissatisfaction in this market. They are also all detectable within two sessions if a parent knows to look, which is the point of listing them.

03

Four ways to read the same price

Hourly rates are how this market quotes and not how families budget. The same arrangement looks different depending on the unit, and choosing the right unit prevents the two classic errors: starting at a rate that cannot be sustained into DP2, and underestimating the total by thinking in hours.

Per hour is useful for comparing providers. Per month is useful for cash flow, and the market's own monthly figures are informative: published packages at about AED 799 for eight online sessions, AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions, with Bestimate's Dubai estimates putting a single weekly session at AED 600 to 1,200 a month with a qualified tutor.

Per term is the honest planning unit, because a term is the commitment a school year is made of. Twelve teaching weeks at one session a week is twelve hours - in the region of AED 1,800 to 3,600 at the qualified online band. Per programme is the number that should decide whether an arrangement is affordable at all: weekly support in one subject across a two-year Diploma is around seventy hours.

The table below sets out all four for the common patterns, so a family can see the same decision from each angle before committing. Note the last row: two focused blocks a year costs considerably less than weekly support across both years and, for a student who works between sessions, frequently achieves more.

Use the programme column as the affordability test and the term column as the planning tool. If the two-year figure is uncomfortable, the right response is to change the pattern now rather than to start weekly and stop in DP2, which is the worst of the available outcomes: the money is spent in the year that needed it least.

What a free trial should mean

  • A full lesson, with the tutor who would be assigned
  • No card details and no minimum booking attached
  • You keep the marked script or written feedback
  • Any condition on the word 'free' stated on the same screen
  • No grade promises - at the trial or afterwards

Nearly everybody in this market offers something free, and the word covers a range of arrangements. Before accepting one, it is worth knowing what you are being given and what is expected in return.

A trial worth having is a full one-to-one lesson with the tutor who would actually teach your child, at no cost, with no card details taken and no obligation. Ours produces a marked script or a piece of written feedback that you keep whether you continue or not, which means even a declined trial leaves you with a diagnosis you did not have before.

A trial worth less is a fifteen-minute sales call with a coordinator, or a group demonstration class, or a lesson with a senior tutor who is not the person assigned afterwards. None of those is dishonest, and none of them answers the only question a trial should answer: will this particular tutor work with this particular child? Ask who is teaching the trial and whether they are the assigned tutor.

Two conditions worth checking anywhere. If 'free' has a condition attached - a minimum booking, a card held, a package commitment - it should be stated on the same screen as the word. And a trial is not the place for a grade prediction. A tutor who finishes a free lesson by promising a number is selling confidence, and nobody can know what a particular candidate will score.

Treat the trial as the cheapest hour you will ever buy in this process, because it is free and it produces evidence. Even if you decline afterwards, you leave with a marked script and somebody's professional view of what the remaining weeks can realistically change - information you can take to any other provider in Sharjah.

05

Group classes, pairs and siblings: real savings and false ones

The obvious way to reduce cost is to share the hour, and it works in some situations and not others. The distinction is whether the work being done is individual.

Content teaching shares well. Several students can be taught the same topic at once, which is what a school does all day and what a tuition centre sells at a lower price per student. If a Middle Years cohort is all weak on investigation structure, a small group session is good value.

Individual diagnostic work does not share. An error log is personal. A marked script needs reviewing with the student who wrote it. An internal assessment research question belongs to one project. A group arrangement cannot do these things, which is why group revision courses before a series often feel busy and change little - the student who needed three sessions on electrolysis spent six hours on everything else.

There is a middle option worth knowing about. A pair of students at the same stage in the same course can share content teaching and then take short individual slots for script review - half the cost of two full one-to-one arrangements, with the individual work preserved. It requires two families whose children are genuinely at the same point, which is rarer than it sounds but does happen within a year group.

Siblings are a special case. Two children in the same course and year can genuinely share a session; two children in different courses cannot, and the common attempt - one tutor teaching both, alternating attention - usually shortchanges the older one. The real saving for a household is scheduling: consecutive slots on one evening, two specialists, one supervised evening for a parent. That saves time rather than money, which for most families in Al Juraina is the scarcer resource.

06

Where to spend in DP1, and where in DP2

A Diploma is two years long, and the same dirham does different work depending on when it is spent. Getting the sequence right is worth more than negotiating the rate.

DP1 money buys prevention. A content gap closed in the first year costs one or two sessions. The same gap closed in DP2 costs five, and the five hours come out of revision time that has no spare capacity. DP1 is also when the exploration or investigation question is settled, and a well-chosen question saves a term of rework. Families almost never buy here, and the ones who do rarely need an emergency later.

DP2 money buys completion and technique. Internal assessments, the extended essay and Theory of Knowledge have to be finished in DP2's first half, and the final term is timed papers and error logs. Hours here are more expensive in real terms because they compete with everything else the student has to do, and because specialist availability tightens in the weeks before a session.

There is one exception to the spend-early rule. If a DP1 student is coping and the household budget is tight, holding a fortnightly slot purely to reserve a scarce specialist is reasonable, because that tutor will be unavailable by the time DP2 needs them. You are buying access as much as teaching, and saying so out loud is more honest than dressing it up as revision.

The practical allocation we suggest for a family watching cost: a fortnightly slot in DP1 in the one subject that genuinely needs it, short fortnightly check-ins for the core components, then a concentrated block in DP2 where the calendar demands it. That shape typically costs less than a weekly arrangement across both years and delivers more, because every hour has something dated to aim at.

07

Packages, VAT and the questions to ask before paying

  • Is the quoted figure inclusive of VAT, and is there a registration number?
  • Per hour or per lesson, and how long is a lesson?
  • What happens to unused sessions and how much notice for a cancellation?
  • Who is the tutor, and what happens if the match is wrong?
  • What is written down, and when is the arrangement reviewed?

Once a rate is agreed there are a handful of commercial details that decide whether the arrangement is good value in practice. None of them is complicated, and all are easier to raise before money changes hands.

Ask whether the quoted figure includes VAT, and if a provider claims to be registered, ask for the registration number. We will not tell you on this page how UAE tax treats tuition fees, because that is a question for the Federal Tax Authority and a tutoring site is not a source for it. What a parent can reasonably expect is clarity about whether the number they were quoted is the number they will pay.

Ask what happens to unused sessions in a package, how much notice a cancellation needs, and whether the rate is per hour or per lesson - a sixty-minute hour and a forty-five-minute lesson at the same price are different products. Ask who the tutor will be, whether they change between sessions, and what happens if the match is wrong. A provider with a pool can replace a tutor and carry the plan across; an individual arrangement means starting again.

Finally, ask what is written down. A written target list for the next six sessions, a note after each lesson, and a review at a fixed point are what make an arrangement measurable. Without them, renewal happens on feeling, and feeling in this market is heavily influenced by how pleasant the tutor is rather than by whether marks moved.

08

What not to pay for at any price

Some things in this market are cheap at AED 45 and a bad purchase at AED 650, because the problem is not the price.

Do not pay for a grade guarantee. Nobody can know what a particular candidate will score, and a promise of a 7, a points total or a specific improvement is a sales instrument. Where a refund is attached to an outcome, read what triggers it; in practice the conditions usually make it unreachable.

Do not pay for assessed work. Services selling completed internal assessments, extended essays, Theory of Knowledge essays or coursework appear in these search results at prices in the thousands of dirhams. The malpractice consequence falls on the student's diploma rather than on the seller, and no fee compensates for that. A tutor may teach, question and give feedback on the student's own work, and nothing more. IB Gram does not sell completed work of any kind.

Do not pay a premium for claimed regulator approval. No tutoring service should describe itself as approved, accredited or licensed by KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB or Cambridge unless it holds that specific permit and can show the number. For clarity about us: IB Gram is a tutor-matching platform with no UAE premises, and we hold no approval or accreditation from any education authority in this country. And do not pay for self-asserted ratings - a star score with no countable, dated reviews behind it is decoration.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Juraina

Central and southern Sharjah areas around Al Juraina, read for price rather than for geography: what each one does to a quote.

Al Qasimia

Immediately north and densely supplied. Rates quoted from here assume a short journey, so they are the fairest comparison for an Al Juraina family weighing an in-home offer.

Al Majaz

The emirate's established tutoring district and the source of most word-of-mouth quotes in this part of Sharjah. Deepest supply, and the first area to be fully booked before a series.

Muwaileh

A separate cluster to the east with its own supply and its own pricing habits. Tutors travelling from here add the drive along the Maliha Road to their quote.

University City

Where the budget band originates. University students may hold the private tuition work permit, and the AED 45 to 150 range is theirs; course-specific experience is the thing to interrogate before buying cheap hours.

Al Khan

Short journeys and overlapping supply. A useful sanity check: if a quote from Al Khan and a quote from Muwaileh differ sharply for the same subject, the difference is usually the drive.

Al Nahda, Sharjah

Dubai-facing, where some families buy Dubai tutoring at Dubai prices. Online, a Dubai-based specialist costs no more to reach than a Sharjah-based one, which removes that premium entirely.

Tilal City

On the southern corridor, where thin local supply pushes in-home quotes to the top of the range. Al Juraina families are better placed, which is worth knowing when comparing notes.

School ecosystem

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the subject, level and the next date

Programme, subject, level and the next dated assessment. That lets us propose a number of hours rather than an open-ended weekly arrangement, which is the difference between a budget and a subscription.

  2. 02

Free trial with a marked script

Send a recent paper, test or draft. The matched tutor marks it against the criteria or mark scheme before you meet, so the free trial lesson is spent on diagnosis. You keep the marked work and the tutor's written view whether or not you continue.

  3. 03

A written plan with a number of sessions in it

You get a target list for the next six sessions and a note after each lesson. Both exist so the arrangement can be judged on movement rather than on how the sessions felt, and so nobody pays twice for the same ground.

  4. 04

Review at six sessions, including whether to stop

We look at timed scores and criterion feedback. If the fit is wrong we change the tutor and keep the plan; if the target has been met we say so and stop. A provider who never recommends stopping is not reviewing anything.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Rates published, with sources and a date

Every AED band on this page carries the month it was read. Three of the six top-ranked pages in our competitor research publish no price at all, and two of the others quote in dollars. You cannot judge a quote against something nobody will state.

No travel inside the rate

Lessons are one-to-one over live video, so you are paying for teaching hours and nothing else. IB Gram does not run home visits in the UAE - that service exists only in India - so no part of the quote is a drive along the Maliha Road.

Diagnosis before the first paid hour

A marked script read before the trial means the first paid session starts with teaching. Paying a generalist to work out what the course requires is the most common leak in this market and the easiest to close.

Finite blocks where finite is right

Some problems need three sessions, not a term. We will propose the smaller thing and say when it is finished, because an arrangement that never ends is a product rather than a plan.

Nothing sold that should not be sold

No grade guarantees, no completed coursework, no claimed regulator approval, no self-asserted star ratings. Those are the four things in this market that are a bad purchase at any price, and declining to sell them is a position rather than a disclaimer.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Juraina: your questions answered

What does an IB tutor cost for a family in Al Juraina?+

Across published UAE rate cards, budget online tutoring starts around AED 45 an hour, a qualified subject tutor teaching online runs roughly AED 150 to 300, an in-home visit is quoted between AED 180 and 500 once travel is absorbed, and named or examiner-branded tutoring reaches AED 500 to 650 and above. Bestimate's Dubai estimates, read in October 2026, put one weekly session at AED 600 to 1,200 a month with a qualified tutor. Those are market figures, not our price list - ask us directly and start with the free trial.

What exactly am I paying extra for when a tutor drives to Al Juraina?+

Because it includes a journey. The teaching inside the hour is the same; the difference between roughly AED 150 to 300 online and AED 180 to 500 in-home is travel time, priced in whether or not it appears as a line. Central Sharjah journeys are shorter than those to the outer corridors, so the premium here is smaller than for a family in Tilal City - but it still buys a car rather than better knowledge of an internal assessment criterion. We do not sell UAE home visits at all.

Where do families most often waste money on tutoring?+

Five places, in our experience of enquiries from this part of Sharjah. Paying full rate while a generalist works out what the course requires. Buying weekly hours in a quiet term with nothing dated to aim at. Buying a general course when a three-session repair on one topic was needed. Working with a tutor who writes nothing down, so each session recaps the last. And the travel premium. None of these is about the hourly rate being too high, and all five are visible within two sessions.

Is a cheap university-student tutor ever the right choice?+

For some jobs, yes. Light homework supervision for a younger child, keeping a routine, or working through practice questions a parent has selected - a capable undergraduate at the AED 45 to 150 band can do those well, and many hold the free MoHRE private tuition permit that the law requires. What that band rarely includes is somebody who has taught a Diploma subject to final-grade standard or supervised an internal assessment. Buying cheap hours for that work usually costs more in the end.

How many hours does a two-year Diploma subject actually take?+

Weekly support in one subject across both years is around seventy hours. Two well-placed blocks a year is nearer fifty. A DP2-only weekly arrangement is about thirty-five, and a final-stretch block is roughly twelve. At the qualified online band of AED 150 to 300 an hour, those translate to very different totals, which is why we suggest deciding the pattern before negotiating the rate. The cheapest effective pattern is usually fortnightly in DP1 converting to a block when the calendar demands it.

What should a free trial lesson actually include?+

A full one-to-one lesson with the tutor who would be assigned, at no cost, with no card details and no minimum booking. Ours also produces a marked script or written feedback that you keep whether you continue or not. What is worth less is a fifteen-minute call with a coordinator, a group demonstration, or a lesson taught by somebody other than the assigned tutor. Ask who is teaching it, and treat any grade promise at the end as a reason to be cautious rather than reassured.

Do group classes save money for IB students?+

For content teaching, genuinely. A small group all weak on the same topic can be taught together at a lower cost per student. For everything individual, no: an error log is personal, a marked script needs reviewing with its author, and an internal assessment question belongs to one project. That is why group revision courses before a series often feel busy and change little - the student who needed three sessions on one topic spent six hours on everything else as well.

Can two of my children share a tutor to reduce the bill?+

Only if they are on the same course at the same level, in which case the saving is real. Across different courses - a Diploma higher level subject and a Middle Years class, say - one tutor alternating attention shortchanges both, usually the older child more. The saving that does work for a household is scheduling rather than sharing: consecutive slots on one evening with two specialists means a parent supervises once instead of three times, which for most families here is the scarcer resource.

Should I ask whether the quoted price includes VAT?+

Yes, and ask for a registration number if a provider says it is registered. We will not state how UAE tax treats tuition fees on this page, because that is a matter for the Federal Tax Authority rather than for a tutoring site. What you can reasonably expect from anybody is clarity about whether the figure quoted is the figure you pay, along with straight answers on whether the rate is per hour or per lesson, what notice a cancellation needs, and what happens to unused sessions in a package.

Is it cheaper to start tutoring in DP1 or wait until DP2?+

Starting in DP1 is cheaper in total, which is counterintuitive because it looks like more months of spending. A content gap closed in the first year costs one or two sessions; the same gap in DP2 costs five, and those five hours come out of revision time that has no spare capacity. DP1 is also when the exploration or investigation question is settled, and a good question saves a term of rework. A fortnightly DP1 slot plus a DP2 block usually beats weekly support across both years, for less.

What does a term of support cost if we only want one subject?+

A term is about twelve teaching weeks, so a weekly slot is twelve hours - in the region of AED 1,800 to 3,600 at the qualified online market band of AED 150 to 300 an hour. Fortnightly halves that. The in-home equivalent for the same twelve hours runs AED 2,160 to 6,000 at market in-home rates. Those are market figures published for comparison rather than our prices; ask us for ours, and the free trial lesson costs nothing in any case.

Are grade guarantees ever worth paying for?+

No. Nobody can know what a particular candidate will score, so a guaranteed 7, a promised points total or a specific improvement is a sales instrument rather than an educational commitment. Where a money-back condition is attached, read exactly what triggers it - the conditions usually make it unreachable in practice. We do not offer grade guarantees, and we would treat any provider that does as having told you something important about how it sells rather than how it teaches.

Someone offered to write my child's internal assessment. How much should that cost?+

Nothing, because it should not be bought at any price. Services selling completed internal assessments, extended essays and Theory of Knowledge essays appear in these search results charging thousands of dirhams, and the consequence of using one is a malpractice finding against the student's diploma rather than a problem for the seller. A tutor may read criteria, question a research question, teach a method and explain why a draft misses a criterion. Writing, redrafting or editing the submitted text is not permitted, and we do not do it.

How do I know whether the money is working?+

Ask for three things at the start: a written target list for the next six sessions, a short note after each lesson, and a fixed review point. Then judge on movement in timed scores and criterion feedback rather than on how the sessions felt. Pleasant sessions with a likeable tutor are easy to renew and hard to evaluate. We review at session six, change the tutor if the fit is wrong, and say so when a target has been met rather than letting an arrangement roll.

Ask for the number, then ask what it includes

The bands on this page are the market's, published with their source and month so that any quote - including ours - can be measured against something. If you take two habits from it, take these: ask for a marked script to be read before the first paid hour, and ask what is written down. Send us the programme, subject, level and the next dated assessment, and we will match a specialist, mark the script and run a free trial lesson over live video at no cost. Lessons for Al Juraina families are one-to-one and online, with no travel inside the rate.
