IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Al Faseel

Typing IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Faseel is a question about distance, but the answer turns out to be about supply. Al Faseel, Sakamkam, Merashid and Dibba all draw on the same small pool of subject specialists, so the shortlist barely changes as you move along the Fujairah coast. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video instead, which makes the shortlist a question of who knows the paper.

IB & IGCSE in Al Faseel

Near me is the wrong filter on this coast

A search for a tutor near me assumes that proximity narrows a long list. In Dubai that holds. There, a family in Jumeirah has a genuine choice between several equally qualified people inside a twenty-minute drive, so distance is a reasonable way to pick between them. On the Fujairah coast the list is not long enough to narrow. Al Faseel, Fujairah city, Sakamkam, Merashid and Al Gurfa are all within a short drive of one another and all draw on the same small set of subject teachers, because the emirate's private-school sector is small and a small sector employs few people per syllabus.

That is why this page is built as a comparison rather than a sales pitch. If you compare Al Faseel with the next district over, and then with the next one, the honest conclusion is that the answer is the same in each: for a common subject the local option exists, and for a minority subject at Higher Level or Extended tier it usually does not. Moving along the coast does not change the supply. Changing the format does.

IB Gram's answer for every one of those districts is identical and worth saying plainly: one-to-one lessons over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, matched by subject and level. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE. That service runs only in India, and it is stated on every country page the site publishes. Your URL says home tutor and near me because those are the phrases parents type, and they deserve a straight answer rather than a quiet redirect.

There is a second comparison running underneath the first, and it matters more than geography. Al Faseel families at the end of Year 11 are choosing between an IB Diploma route and an A Level route, and the two have different shapes, different workloads and different consequences for university applications. The Diploma asks for six subjects plus an Extended Essay, a Theory of Knowledge course and CAS, scored out of 45 with 24 as the minimum. A Levels ask for three or four subjects taken deeper. Neither is better. They suit different students, and a tutor who cannot describe the difference is not the right person to advise on it.

So the sections below compare: districts against each other, IB against IGCSE and A Level, online against in-home with the travel cost broken out, and the regulator in Fujairah against the emirate authorities everyone else writes about. Each comparison ends in the same place, which is the honest outcome of a comparison rather than a weakness in it. Where a figure appears it is a published market rate read in October 2026 with its source named, because almost nobody ranking for these searches publishes a number in dirhams at all, and a parent who cannot see a number cannot compare anything. Where a date appears it is named by its month rather than its year, so that the page stays true after this session has passed. And where something could not be verified against an official source, it is left out rather than guessed, which is why you will find no IB points threshold for Ministry of Education equivalency on this page even though competitor pages publish one.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three programmes cover almost every Al Faseel enquiry. The differences between them are structural rather than a matter of difficulty, and knowing which structure your child is inside changes what tutoring should do.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

International GCSE, Years 10 and 11

Eight or nine subjects, assessed almost entirely by terminal written paper. Cambridge syllabuses split into Core and Extended with a grade ceiling of C on Core; Pearson Edexcel splits maths into Foundation and Higher tier. Coursework appears in some subjects and not others, and the school decides which components it enters.

For Al Faseel families the practical issue is tier placement. In a small school market the maths and science sets are coarser, so borderline students land on Core and lose the top four grades before teaching starts. Two terms of Extended-only content in Year 9 or early Year 10, proved by a timed Extended paper, is what reopens that decision with a teacher.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS. Graded out of 45 points with 24 as the diploma minimum and up to three bonus points from the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge matrix. Internal assessment carries real weight in every subject.

Fujairah's local Diploma offer is limited, so students who want it often move school or emirate, and some keep a Fujairah home while boarding elsewhere. That makes a fixed online slot unusually valuable: it survives a change of school, a weekly commute and a holiday period without the engagement collapsing and restarting.

AS/A2Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

AS and A Level

Three or four subjects taken deeper than the Diploma allows, with AS sometimes cashed in at the end of Year 12 as a standalone qualification. Entry is usually gated on IGCSE grades in the same subject, which is why Year 11 results matter beyond the certificate itself.

The sourced Ministry of Education equivalency rule for the British track names this stage: one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than grade E, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade, alongside five IGCSE or GCSE passes at E or grade 3. A student dropping to two AS subjects should check that against the ministry's own channel first.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

IB Diploma subjects first, with the assessment weightings that decide where tutoring hours should go. Ask your child's coordinator which level each subject is being taken at before booking anything.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

At Standard Level, Paper 1 and Paper 2 carry 40% each and the Exploration 20%. At Higher Level the papers are 30, 30 and 20 with the Exploration at 20%. Paper 3 at HL is the extended-response problem paper and the one students least often practise.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Same weighting structure as Analysis and Approaches, with modelling and statistics in place of the heavier pure content. Graphical display calculator technique is examinable in itself, and marks go missing on candidates who can get the answer but cannot show the method the scheme rewards.

Physics

HL and SL

Under the current guide, Paper 1 carries 36% and includes both multiple choice and a data-analysis section, Paper 2 carries 44%, and the Internal Assessment 20% at both levels. The scientific investigation is capped at 3,000 words and marked across research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Same component weightings as Physics. Organic mechanisms and energetics calculations account for most lost marks at Higher Level, and the data-analysis section of Paper 1 rewards practice on unfamiliar graphs rather than recall.

Biology

HL and SL

The highest-content science subject, where revision most often becomes reading. Command terms do the real work: a question asking students to explain is not answered by a description, and that single distinction moves more marks than extra content does.

Economics

HL and SL

At Standard Level Paper 1 is 30%, Paper 2 is 40% and the portfolio 30%. At Higher Level the split is 20, 30, 30 for papers one to three with the portfolio at 20%. The portfolio is three commentaries of no more than 800 words each, built on real published articles.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Standard Level runs Paper 1 at 35%, Paper 2 at 35% and the Individual Oral at 30%. Higher Level adds the HL Essay at 20% and rebalances the rest. The Individual Oral is where a global issue must be traced through two texts, and preparation is a skill in itself.

Business Management

HL and SL

Case-study driven, with a pre-released case for the higher-level paper. Calculation questions on ratios and break-even are predictable marks; the common failure is applying a correct concept to a business the stimulus does not describe.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Theory papers plus a solution-development Internal Assessment where the product and the documentation are assessed together. Students who code well often lose marks on the documentation, because the criteria reward evidence of a design process rather than a working program alone.

Arabic B and Arabic ab initio

HL, SL and ab initio

Separate courses with separate expectations, and placing a student in the wrong one is common. Private schools in the UAE must teach Arabic alongside the licensed curriculum, so Al Faseel students usually arrive with more exposure than an international cohort elsewhere would.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IGCSE grid, with syllabus codes for both boards. Al Faseel schools may enter either, and the two assess the same subject differently enough that a tutor must know which.

Mathematics (0580 / 0980; Edexcel 4MA1)

Core, Extended, Foundation and Higher tier

Cambridge splits the entry between a non-calculator and a calculator paper at 50% each; Edexcel runs two calculator papers. Bounds, vectors and algebraic fractions are where Extended candidates lose most marks.

Physics (0625 / 0972; Edexcel 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Cambridge: a multiple-choice paper at 30%, theory at 50% and a practical component at 20% sat as a practical test or an alternative-to-practical paper. Edexcel examines practical skills inside two written papers instead, with no separate practical exam.

Chemistry (0620 / 0971; Edexcel 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Mole calculations requiring two conversions, the exact wording of ion and gas tests, and balanced ionic equations are the three places Extended candidates give marks away most predictably.

Biology (0610 / 0970; Edexcel 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Water-potential language, genetic-cross notation and data-handling on unfamiliar graphs carry the losses. The recall load is large enough that a topic-by-topic risk list is more useful than a general revision timetable.

English as a First Language (0500 / 0990; Edexcel 4EA1)

Core and Extended

Reading and writing rather than literature. Directed writing is marked against register and audience, so a technically clean answer in the wrong voice sits below its potential. Summary questions punish lifted phrasing.

Economics (0455 / 0987; Edexcel 4EC1)

Core and Extended

Diagram accuracy carries weight the surrounding prose cannot recover. Extended papers reward a judgement supported by the diagram rather than a list of advantages and disadvantages on either side.

Business Studies (0450 / 0986; Edexcel 4BS1)

Core and Extended

The insert decides the answer. Break-even, cash-flow and ratio questions are the most reliable marks on the paper and are usually lost to arithmetic rather than to misunderstanding.

Computer Science (0478 / 0984; Edexcel 4CP0)

Core and Extended

Pseudocode is marked on logic, not syntax, which students find counterintuitive after a year of Python. Binary, hexadecimal and two's complement conversion appear every series and reward drilling to automatic accuracy.

Geography (0460 / 0976; Edexcel 4GE1)

Core and Extended

Map, graph and photograph skills are the dependable marks. Case studies decide the grade, and a named example with figures scores where a generic one does not. Fujairah coastal processes are usable local material.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, all online and one-to-one. The choice depends on whether your child is building knowledge, converting it into marks, or deciding between two post-16 routes.

Term-long weekly subject support

One fixed session a week in a single subject, running a little ahead of the school's scheme of work so the student meets each topic twice. The cheapest version of tutoring per grade gained, because nothing is being repaired. Suited to Year 10 and to the first year of the Diploma.

  • Same weekday and time each week on Gulf Standard Time
  • Topic order agreed against the school's own scheme of work
  • Work set between sessions and marked before the next one

Internal assessment and coursework coaching

For the Diploma's Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge, and for IGCSE coursework components. The work is the student's own throughout. A tutor explains the criteria in the board's wording, reads a draft the student has written, and says where it misses. A tutor does not write the Internal Assessment or produce the coursework.

  • Criteria explained in the board's published language
  • Feedback on the student's own draft, never a rewrite
  • Word and page limits checked against the subject guide

A post-16 route decision block

Three or four sessions, usually in Year 11, spent working out whether the Diploma or A Levels fits the student. Not career advice: a comparison of workload shape, assessment style, subject combinations and the university prerequisites each route keeps open, with a tutor who teaches inside both systems.

  • Diploma core workload mapped against three or four A Levels
  • Subject prerequisites checked for the courses under consideration
  • Mathematics route compared: Analysis and Approaches against Applications

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Faseel

01

What a tutor near me in Al Faseel can and cannot mean

  • In-home market band: roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour, including travel
  • Qualified online subject tutor band: roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour
  • Test any tutor by asking where marks are lost on one named paper
  • No tutor is sent to an address in Fujairah or anywhere in the UAE

Searching for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Faseel returns two kinds of result, and they are not alternatives. The first is somebody who will drive to a Fujairah address. The published market rate for an in-home one-to-one visit runs roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour, with the upper end for a named specialist, and that range is real. The second is a subject specialist teaching over live video, which the same market prices at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour for a qualified tutor. IB Gram is the second kind. It does not offer home visits in the UAE, and nothing on this site will suggest otherwise.

The reason to compare them on supply rather than on price is that Al Faseel's local supply is genuinely thin at the level most families need. For IGCSE at Core tier in maths or English, a local option exists. For Chemistry at Extended tier, Economics, Computer Science, or any Diploma Higher Level subject, the set of adults within driving distance who have taught and marked that specification recently may be empty. Paying the travel premium does not conjure one into existence.

That gives a straightforward test for any shortlist, wherever it came from. Ask which specification the tutor has taught, in which series, and ask them to describe where candidates lose marks on one named paper. A specialist answers in specifics within a sentence. A generalist answers with enthusiasm. The answer is more informative than a certificate and takes less time to obtain.

Everything after this section is a comparison, because that is what a near-me search is really asking for. District against district, Diploma against A Level, online against in-home with the travel broken out, and Fujairah's federal regulator against the emirate authorities the rest of this market writes about.

02

Al Faseel against the next district over, on the things that change

Comparisons between Fujairah districts are usually written as if the schools and the tutors differ. They mostly do not. What differs is time: how long the afternoon drive takes, when a child is actually home, and therefore which session slot survives contact with a normal week. That is worth comparing properly, because a slot that does not hold is the most common reason a tutoring arrangement quietly stops working.

Al Faseel has the easier end of this. It is coastal, close to the city-centre schools, and a 16:30 start is achievable most days. Sakamkam adds drive time from the inland side and pushes realistic starts later. Al Gurfa spreads families out along the southern coast road and often means two school runs rather than one. Dibba is in a different category entirely: around ninety minutes north, with the fewest local secondary options in the emirate, so for a family there the question of a nearby tutor does not really arise.

The second axis is the regulator, and it catches families who move along this coast without realising they have changed system. Fujairah's private schools are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education. Khor Fakkan, geographically on the same coastline, is a Sharjah enclave, so its schools answer to the Sharjah Private Education Authority — an authority that approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, not just inspection outcomes. A mid-year move between the two is a change of oversight as well as a change of uniform.

The table sets both axes side by side. The right-hand column is the point of the exercise: in every row, the recommendation is the same, which is what makes the near-me framing unhelpful here rather than merely imprecise.

03

Diploma or A Level after IGCSE: the comparison Year 11 families actually need

This is the decision that most affects an Al Faseel student's next four years, and it is usually made on hearsay. The Diploma is six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard, plus an Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS, scored out of 45 with 24 as the diploma minimum and up to three bonus points from the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge matrix. A Levels are three or four subjects, taken further within each, with no equivalent core. Those are different shapes of work, not different difficulties.

The Diploma suits a student who is broadly strong and reasonably organised, because the core alone is a standing commitment across two years and the Internal Assessments arrive in every subject. A Levels suit a student who is sharply stronger in some subjects than others, or who already knows the degree they want and can afford to drop the rest. A student who struggles with deadlines will find the Diploma core punishing in a way that no amount of subject tutoring fixes.

There is also a mathematics decision inside the Diploma that families underestimate. Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation are separate courses with the same component weightings but different content, and some university programmes expect one rather than the other. Check the prerequisites for the courses your child is considering before the subject form is signed, because changing course after the first term is disruptive and sometimes not possible at a small school.

On equivalency, the sourced position differs between the two routes and that difference is worth knowing. The British track has published figures: five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count, plus one Advanced Level subject at E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. No equivalent IB points threshold could be verified from an official source for this project, so none appears here. Ask the Ministry of Education directly.

Online against in-home, with the travel cost separated out

Comparisons between online and in-home tuition usually collapse into a preference argument. It is more useful to break the in-home price into its parts, because then the question stops being about taste. A travelling tutor is paid for the lesson and, implicitly, for the journey. In a dense city the journey is short and the convenience is genuine, which is why the format is popular in Dubai and priced accordingly. On the Fujairah coast the journey is longer and, more importantly, it filters the candidate list down to people willing to make it.

So the in-home premium buys three things here: somebody physically present, a shorter list of available subjects, and a start time that drifts. The first is worth something, particularly for a younger child who needs supervision as much as teaching. The second and third are costs, not features. For a Year 11 or Diploma student working against a paper, a specialist who holds the same slot every week is worth more than a generalist in the room.

The counter-argument deserves a fair hearing. Some students genuinely work better with a person at the table, and a screen adds a layer of friction, particularly for practical subjects and for students who need their attention externally managed. The honest mitigations are specific rather than rhetorical: shorter sessions with a break, a shared document the tutor writes on live, a visible worked page rather than a talking head, and a parent within earshot for the first few weeks.

The table below is a cost and logistics comparison for an Al Faseel address. Rates are market figures read in October 2026 from published sources, not IB Gram prices; our own figure comes after the free trial lesson and depends on subject, level and frequency.

The regulator comparison nobody in this market writes

Every competitor page researched for this market writes about Dubai's authority or writes about nothing. Abu Dhabi's Department of Education and Knowledge is named by none of them. Sharjah's authority appears once across an entire cluster. For a family in Al Faseel that absence is not a minor omission, because the body that supervises your child's school decides where you look up an inspection outcome, who approves the curriculum, and which complaint route exists.

The map is short enough to state in full. The Knowledge and Human Development Authority is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in Dubai. The Department of Education and Knowledge supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in Abu Dhabi. The Sharjah Private Education Authority regulates private education in Sharjah, and Ras Al Khaimah's Department of Knowledge does the same there; both approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. The Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. That is all five bodies.

Underneath all of them sits one federal rule that explains the shape of every UAE school week. Private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must follow the ministry's general regulations. That is why an Al Faseel student on a British or IB pathway carries subjects a student in the United Kingdom would not, and why the week is fuller than the curriculum's own timetable implies.

For a tutoring plan the consequence is practical rather than administrative. Session slots have to fit around a longer school day. Arabic coursework and assessments arrive on their own schedule. And a parent comparing two schools in two emirates is comparing two regulatory systems, which is worth half an hour of reading on the authority's own site before the deposit is paid.

06

Availability, honestly: which subjects staff quickly and which do not

  • Fast: IGCSE maths and sciences at Core and Extended, Diploma subjects at Standard Level
  • Slower: Higher Level sciences, Economics, Computer Science, Visual Arts
  • Variable: Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge supervision
  • Always ask what happens if the slot cannot be filled

No page researched in this market discloses a coverage limit anywhere. Several conceal non-UAE delivery behind a phone number in another country. That is worth naming, because availability is the single most useful thing a parent can be told before paying, and the silence is deliberate across the cluster.

The pattern is consistent. Common subjects at the common levels staff quickly: IGCSE maths, the three separate sciences at Core and Extended, English as a first language, and the Diploma's most-entered subjects at Standard Level. A minority subject at Higher Level is slower, and a minority subject at Higher Level in one specific evening slot sometimes cannot be staffed at all. Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay supervision sit somewhere in between, because the supervision is a process skill rather than a subject.

What should happen when a match is not possible is simple and rarely done. You should be told, given a realistic timeframe, and offered the alternative explicitly rather than quietly: a different slot, a different week, or nothing. What should not happen is being handed the nearest available generalist and left to work out the mismatch in the third session, by which point a month of a Year 11 spring has gone.

Ask the question in those words of anybody you are considering. If the answer is that everything is always available immediately, in every subject, at every level, in any slot, in a market this size, that answer is the information you needed.

07

What a tutor may do with an Internal Assessment, and where the line sits

This matters more on an IB page than on an IGCSE one, because the Diploma puts assessed coursework in every subject and the consequences of getting it wrong land on the student. One page in this search result sells completed Internal Assessment work at a fixed price. That is academic malpractice under the board's own rules, and the student carries the result of it, not the seller.

The boundary is clear once stated in terms of who produced the sentences. A tutor may teach the content, explain the assessment criteria in the board's own wording, show how a comparable task is approached, read a draft the student has written and name where it misses a criterion, and teach the student how to fix it themselves. A tutor may not write the Internal Assessment, draft the Extended Essay, or edit a piece to completion so that the words are the tutor's own.

Limits are part of this and are easy to check. The Extended Essay is capped at 4,000 words, the Theory of Knowledge essay at 1,600 and the exhibition commentary at 950, the sciences investigation at 3,000, and the Economics portfolio at 800 words per commentary. A tutor who does not know those numbers is not working from the subject guide, and a tutor who offers to supply the guides or the mark schemes as downloads is reproducing the board's copyrighted material rather than teaching from it.

Use it as a selection question. Ask what they would do if your child asked them to write one paragraph of a coursework draft. A refusal with an explanation of the alternative is the right answer. Treating it as negotiable tells you exactly what will happen the week before the deadline.

08

Getting started from Al Faseel, including what can go wrong

The first useful step is paperwork rather than shopping. Get the subject, the level or tier, and the syllabus code from the school — the code sits on the entry confirmation, and for IGCSE it decides whether a practical exam exists. For a Diploma student, get the coordinator's internal deadline calendar for Internal Assessments, because those dates are earlier than families expect and they are the ones tutoring has to work around.

Then take a trial lesson and treat it as a test of explanation, not of warmth. The thing to listen for is whether the tutor talks about the mark scheme, the command terms and where candidates lose marks, or whether they talk about potential and confidence. Both kinds of tutor are pleasant. Only one of them will change a grade. Your child's view after that lesson is the single best signal available, and it is worth more than any credential list.

Things that go wrong are predictable. The slot drifts and the homework cycle collapses. The tutor turns out to know the other board. The student is working at Core tier while the tutor teaches Extended content, or the reverse. A Diploma student gets subject teaching when the actual problem is the Extended Essay deadline. Every one of those is caught by a diagnostic in the first fortnight and by a written topic list that gets updated.

And the limit should be said once more, because it is the honest end of a near-me search: no tutor comes to a Fujairah address through IB Gram. Lessons are online, one-to-one, on Gulf Standard Time, and the reason to choose that is not convenience. It is that the person teaching your child has taught the specification your child is sitting.

Where we tutor

Al Faseel against the districts either side of it

Five Fujairah districts and two outliers, compared on the two things that actually change tutoring: how long the school run takes, and whether a local subject specialist exists.

Al Faseel

Coastal, close to the corniche and the port, within roughly fifteen minutes of the city-centre schools. A 16:30 or 17:00 session start is realistic on a normal school day without a long drive first.

Fujairah City centre

Holds most of the emirate's private-school capacity and the widest local subject choice. Al Faseel students schooling here have the shortest commute in Fujairah, which is why their session times are the easiest to fix.

Sakamkam

Inland and north-west, nearer the mountain edge. The afternoon drive back from the coastal schools is longer, so realistic starts move towards 17:30 and a fixed online slot holds better than an arrival time.

Merashid

Settled residential district where demand skews to Extended-tier sciences and maths. That is precisely the band where the local specialist pool is thinnest, so the comparison with Al Faseel changes nothing useful.

Al Gurfa

South along the coast road, more spread out. Families with two children at different schools rarely have both home before 16:00, which pushes sessions into the 17:00 to 20:00 window.

Dibba Al Fujairah

The northern end of the emirate, around ninety minutes from Al Faseel. Local secondary options are the fewest anywhere in Fujairah, so online delivery is the only route to a subject specialist rather than a preference.

Khor Fakkan

A Sharjah enclave on this coastline, so its private schools answer to the Sharjah Private Education Authority rather than the federal Ministry of Education. Families move regulator without leaving the Gulf of Oman shore.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Faseel

Fujairah city and the coastal districts

The emirate's private schools cluster in and around the city, inside reach of Al Faseel, Sakamkam and Merashid. The list is short and does change, so confirm the currently licensed set against the Ministry of Education's own directory rather than any third-party page.

  • Fujairah Private Academy
  • Al Ameer English School, Fujairah

The Sharjah side, including Khor Fakkan

Families wanting a wider IB or IGCSE offer within commuting range look west and north. Sharjah's authority approves fees, curricula, programmes, courses and assessment methods rather than only inspecting, which is worth reading before a mid-year move.

  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • Sharjah English School
  • Australian International School, Sharjah
  • Delhi Private School, Sharjah

Schools appear here as context for the Fujairah and wider UAE school system only. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement arrangement with any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the subject, the level and the board

For IGCSE that means the syllabus code from the entry confirmation, because Cambridge 0620 and Edexcel 4CH1 differ on practical assessment. For the Diploma it means Higher or Standard Level and which mathematics course. These three details decide whether a match is possible at all, and guessing them wastes the first two sessions.

  2. 02

Hear the coverage position before paying

Common subjects at common levels staff quickly; a minority subject at Higher Level in one evening slot sometimes cannot be staffed. You get told which applies to your request, with a timeframe, rather than being matched to whoever is free. That disclosure is absent from every competitor page researched for this market.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson, with the parent able to listen in

One lesson before anything is paid. Listen for mark schemes and command terms rather than for enthusiasm. Your child's verdict on whether they could follow the explanation is the most reliable signal in the whole process, and if the fit is wrong the match changes without an argument.

  4. 04

    Diagnostic in the first fortnight

A past paper or a marked Internal Assessment draft, depending on the programme, returned with the losses grouped by cause rather than by topic alone. This is what a plan should be built from. Ask for it in writing; without it the schedule is a guess with a calendar attached.

  5. 05

Fixed weekly slot, adjusted for Ramadan and travel

Sessions run at the same time each week on Gulf Standard Time, after the Fujairah school day. During Ramadan the slot usually moves later, often post-Iftar. Travel between emirates or abroad needs a one-off adjustment rather than a cancelled term, which is the practical advantage of an online slot.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Distance stops filtering the shortlist

Al Faseel, Sakamkam, Merashid and Al Gurfa share one small specialist pool, and at Higher Level or Extended tier that pool is often empty. Matching by subject and level instead of by drive time is the only change that alters the outcome, and it is strongest in exactly the emirates this market's pages ignore.

Both routes explained by someone inside them

The Diploma and A Level comparison is the decision that shapes the next four years, and it is usually made on hearsay in a small school market. A tutor who teaches inside both systems can describe the workload shape rather than the reputation, which is what the choice actually turns on.

The regulator map stated in full

Fujairah sits under the federal Ministry of Education, not an emirate authority, and that changes where a parent looks things up. Abu Dhabi's regulator is named by none of the pages researched in this market and Sharjah's by one. A family moving along this coast deserves the whole map.

Rates in dirhams with their source attached

Every figure on this page is a published market rate read in October 2026 and attributed, never presented as an IB Gram price. Three of the six pages ranking for searches like this publish no price at all and two quote in dollars, a currency no UAE family pays fees in.

Coursework support that names its own limit

Teaching, criteria, feedback on the student's own draft, and the word limits checked against the subject guide. Not writing, not completing, not supplying. One page in this search result sells finished Internal Assessment work, and the consequence of that falls on the student's qualification.

Availability disclosed rather than implied

If no specialist is free for your subject, level and slot, you hear it before paying. No page researched for this market discloses a coverage limit anywhere, and several route UAE parents to a number in another country without saying so. The limit is more useful than the promise.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Faseel: your questions answered

Is there an IB or IGCSE tutor actually based near Al Faseel?+

For common subjects at common levels, usually yes. For Higher Level Diploma subjects or Extended-tier Chemistry, Economics and Computer Science, often not, because Fujairah's private-school sector is small and a small sector employs few teachers per specification. Al Faseel, Sakamkam, Merashid and Al Gurfa draw on the same pool, so moving a few kilometres changes nothing. IB Gram's answer is one-to-one teaching over live video on Gulf Standard Time, which replaces the question of who lives nearby with the question of who has taught the paper.

Does IB Gram send a tutor to a Fujairah address?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE at all; that service runs only in India, and the position is identical on every country page this site publishes. Lessons for Al Faseel families are delivered one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. The local in-home market does exist and the published rates for it run roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour. Before paying that premium, check whether a travelling tutor on this coast has actually taught your child's specification at the level they are sitting.

Should my child choose the IB Diploma or A Levels after IGCSE in Fujairah?+

It depends on the shape of the student rather than on difficulty. The Diploma is six subjects plus an Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS, scored out of 45 with 24 as the minimum, which suits a broadly strong and organised student. A Levels are three or four subjects taken deeper, which suits a student who is sharply uneven or already certain of a degree. A student who struggles with deadlines finds the Diploma core hard in a way subject tutoring does not fix. Fujairah's local Diploma offer is limited, so the choice often involves a school move.

Which maths course should a Diploma student from Al Faseel take?+

Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation are separate courses with the same component weightings but different content: the first is heavier on pure mathematics, the second on modelling and statistics. Some university programmes expect one specifically, so check the prerequisites for the courses under consideration before the subject form is signed. Changing after the first term is disruptive and at a small school may not be possible. A tutor can walk through both syllabuses with the student before the decision rather than after it.

Why does Khor Fakkan have a different school regulator from Al Faseel?+

Khor Fakkan is a Sharjah enclave on the Gulf of Oman coast, so its private schools answer to the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which regulates private education in that emirate and approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Fujairah's private schools are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education instead. A family moving between the two changes regulatory system without leaving the coastline, which affects where inspection outcomes are published and which approval route applies to a curriculum change.

How long before the exams should an Al Faseel family start looking?+

For building knowledge, a term ahead of the content being taught in school, which in practice means Year 10 for IGCSE and the first Diploma year rather than the second. For converting existing knowledge into marks, eight to twelve weeks before the paper is workable if the first session is a diagnostic rather than a lesson. The expensive version is starting in the spring of the final year with gaps across the syllabus, because at that point every hour spent learning new content costs marks somewhere else.

What does the Extended Essay word limit actually allow a tutor to do?+

The Extended Essay is capped at 4,000 words, and a supervisor or tutor may discuss the research question, explain the assessment criteria, point out where a draft misses one, and teach the student how to improve it. A tutor may not write the essay or draft sections of it. The Theory of Knowledge essay is capped at 1,600 words and the exhibition commentary at 950. A tutor who does not know those limits is not working from the subject guide, which is a useful thing to test early.

Are online lessons workable for a student who needs someone sitting next to them?+

Sometimes, with specific adjustments rather than reassurance. Shorter sessions with a break, a shared document the tutor writes on live so the student watches working appear rather than a face, and a parent within earshot for the first few weeks all help. For a younger child who needs supervision as much as teaching, the honest answer is that a screen adds friction. For a Year 11 or Diploma student working to a paper, a specialist on screen generally beats a generalist in the room.

Do tutors teaching UAE students need a permit, and is it expensive?+

A permit is required and it costs nothing. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years, applied for through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation's own service with a stated two working days to complete. Eligible applicants include school-registered teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Tutoring without one brings fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no figure is quoted.

Can one tutor cover two subjects for the same Al Faseel student?+

Occasionally, and only where the specifications genuinely overlap: maths and physics is a realistic pairing, chemistry and biology less so at Higher Level, and a Diploma language and a science almost never. The temptation is scheduling convenience, and it usually costs depth in the weaker of the two. A better arrangement for two subjects is two specialists on different evenings, with one of them nominated to keep an eye on the overall deadline calendar so nothing is tracked twice or not at all.

What should a trial lesson from Al Faseel actually tell me?+

Whether your child can follow this person's explanation, and whether the tutor thinks in mark schemes. Listen for command terms, named papers and specific places where candidates lose marks. A specialist produces those within a minute. A generalist talks about potential and confidence, which is pleasant and changes nothing. Your child's verdict afterwards is more reliable than any credential list, and if the fit is wrong the match should change without a discussion about commitment.

Do Arabic and Islamic studies change the tutoring timetable in Fujairah?+

They lengthen the school week rather than altering the international grades. Private schools in the UAE are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, and must follow the ministry's general regulations, so those subjects run alongside the licensed curriculum. For an Al Faseel family that means a fuller day and later realistic session slots. For equivalency on the British track, Arabic and Islamic education are excluded from the five-subject IGCSE count, which is worth knowing before subject choices are finalised.

Which IGCSE subjects are hardest to find a specialist for on this coast?+

Extended-tier Chemistry and Physics, Economics, Computer Science and Business Studies, in roughly that order, with Additional Mathematics and International Mathematics behind them. The pattern is not about difficulty but about how many local teachers have taught the specification recently. Core-tier maths, English as a first language and the separate sciences at Core are comfortable. If your request falls in the first group, expect a longer match and ask for a realistic timeframe rather than an assurance.

Can lessons move during Ramadan or while we are travelling from Fujairah?+

Yes, and planning the change beats improvising it. Most families shift the slot later during Ramadan, often to a post-Iftar time, and because the lesson is online nothing depends on a tutor's drive home. Travel is handled as a one-off time adjustment rather than a cancelled term, which keeps the homework cycle between sessions intact. Agree the change a week ahead so the work set before the move still gets marked before the next session rather than being quietly dropped.

What happens if the tutor turns out to be teaching the wrong specification?+

It gets caught by the diagnostic in the first fortnight, which is one of the reasons the diagnostic exists. A past paper marked against the official scheme makes a specification mismatch obvious immediately: the question styles do not match what the student recognises, and the practical component is either there or it is not. Report it and the match changes. The expensive version is discovering it in the third month, which is why the syllabus code belongs in the first message rather than the fourth.

Compare the districts if you like; then compare the specifications

The comparison that matters for an Al Faseel family is not between one Fujairah district and the next. It is between a tutor who has taught your child's specification and one who has not. Get the subject, the level or tier, and the syllabus code from the school, then book a free trial lesson and listen for whether the tutor talks in mark schemes. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, after the school day, with the slot held week to week. Nobody is sent to a Fujairah address, and every rate quoted here is a published market figure with its source named.
