IGCSE Tutor near me in Mirdif

Typing IGCSE tutor near me in Mirdif usually means two things at once: find somebody quickly, and find somebody who can start before the next set of assessments. This page answers the second half properly. It maps the Dubai academic year term by term, says what each term can achieve, and shows what proximity buys and what it quietly costs. Lessons run one-to-one over live video.

  • Lessons over live video; no tutor attends a Mirdif address
  • Coverage and fallback stated before you book, not after
  • Matched by board, syllabus code and tier every time
  • First lesson free; the plan is tested before anything is paid

IB & IGCSE in Mirdif

What the words near me are really doing in that search

A search for an IGCSE tutor near me in Mirdif is doing two jobs. It is a request for speed, because something has gone wrong and the next assessment is close. And it is a proxy for trust, because near feels verifiable in a way that an online listing does not. Both are reasonable. Neither is well served by proximity, and this page sets out why, using the only measure that matters to a Year 10 or Year 11 student: what can be achieved between now and the next thing that gets marked.

The Dubai school year runs in three terms, and each has a different job. The first, from late August to mid-December, is where content is laid down and where a weak start compounds quietly. The second, from January to late March, carries the mock season and the real diagnosis. The third, from April to the end of the academic year, is the exam term for June candidates and is not a teaching term at all. For a Mirdif candidate that exam term means the June series, with November as the only other sitting Cambridge offers here; the February and March sitting is an India-only option, so any page quoting a February exam window was not written for Dubai. A tutor booked in week two of term one is doing a completely different job from one booked in week two of term three, and the plans should look nothing alike.

Mirdif sits in the eastern suburbs, between Al Mizhar, Al Warqa, Al Khawaneej and Nad Al Hamar, with the schools families here use spread across an arc out to Festival City and Academic City. Proximity within that arc is almost meaningless for tutoring: a tutor four streets away is still forty minutes from your child at 16:00, and a tutor in a different emirate is zero minutes away over video.

What near does buy is worth naming honestly, because it is not nothing. A tutor in the room reads body language, notices a phone, and keeps a fourteen-year-old on task in a way a screen does not. If that is your child's actual problem, in-home tuition is a sensible purchase and the Dubai market rate is AED 180 to 500 an hour including travel. IB Gram does not sell it: home visits are a service offered only in India, and UAE tuition is delivered one-to-one over live video.

What near costs is choice and reliability. A list restricted to tutors who will drive to Mirdif for a single weekday slot is short, and in subjects like Cambridge 0620 Chemistry or 0478 Computer Science it is frequently empty. It is also fragile: one tutor, one car, one traffic incident, and the lesson before a mock does not happen. The sections below put numbers and dates against all of that.

At a glance

  • Term one lays down content; term two diagnoses; term three is not a teaching term
  • Mock season in term two is the most useful diagnostic a family gets free
  • A tutor four streets away is still forty minutes from your child at 16:00
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is free and valid two years
  • If no specialist is free for your syllabus, we say so rather than substituting
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

These are the stages a Mirdif IGCSE student passes through, and the point in each where help is usually asked for too late rather than too early.

Y10Ages 14-15

IGCSE Year 10, the first examined year

The year the two-year syllabuses begin in earnest, with coursework and required practical work started and the first real internal assessments sat. Grades here feel low-stakes and are not: they set predicted grades, tier recommendations and the student's own belief about what they are capable of.

Mirdif families most often book tutoring in Year 11 for a problem that was visible in Year 10 term two. A term of weekly work in Year 10 costs less and achieves more than a panic block eighteen months later, which is an unglamorous argument that happens to be true.

Y11Ages 15-16

IGCSE Year 11, the examination year

Mocks in term two, final entries submitted months before the papers, and the June or November series at the end. Teaching time effectively ends in March for a June candidate, which means term three is revision and technique only, whatever the student still does not know.

The practical deadline for a Mirdif parent is therefore the end of term two, not the exam. Anything that needs teaching rather than revising has to be booked before the mocks are returned if it is going to fit.

Y9Ages 13-14

Year 9 and the tier decision

Option choices and, in tiered Cambridge subjects, the first Core or Extended recommendation. The gap between Core-comfortable and Extended-viable in mathematics is usually algebraic fluency rather than new topics, and it is a finite, teachable piece of work at this stage.

A Core mathematics entry closes some A Level and Diploma mathematics routes two years later, and families in this area generally discover that in Year 12. Raising it with the school in Year 9 is free; raising it in Year 12 is not.

POST-16Ages 16-19

A Level, IB Diploma and the eastern-suburbs choice

IGCSE grades set sixth-form entry, and the two main routes want different things: three subjects in depth for A Level, six plus the core for the Diploma. Mathematics and science thresholds are where a single grade redirects a plan.

Because the eastern-suburbs arc contains both IB and British sixth forms, students here genuinely choose rather than default. That makes the Year 11 grade profile, rather than one headline grade, the thing worth protecting.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The subjects below are the ones Mirdif families ask for most, listed with the specific thing that tends to move when a term of weekly lessons is spent on it.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580; Pearson 4MA1

Algebraic fluency first, then multi-step problem structure. The commonest recoverable loss is a correct answer with no method shown, which forfeits marks the scheme awards for working rather than for the result.

Physics

Cambridge 0625; Pearson 4PH1

Electricity and waves take the most time; required practical skills are examined on a written paper. Describing a method precisely enough to score is a writing skill, not a laboratory one, and it is teachable in four lessons.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620; Pearson 4CH1

Moles, ionic equations and the qualitative analysis tables. The tables are pure recall worth real marks and are almost always left unlearned until the fortnight before the paper.

Biology

Cambridge 0610; Pearson 4BI1

Command-term discipline decides the grade more than content does. Describe, explain and suggest want different answers, and a student who writes one style for all three stalls in the middle grades.

English Language

Cambridge 0500 and 0990; Pearson 4EA1

Structure marks on directed writing are independent of ideas, so they can be secured by drilling format alone. Reading answers lose marks for long quotations with thin analysis attached.

Mathematics (International and Additional)

Cambridge 0607 and 0606

0607 assumes a graphic display calculator and assesses investigation; 0606 is a harder algebraic course. Buying help for one when the child sits the other is a frequent and avoidable mistake.

Business Studies and Economics

Cambridge 0450 and 0455

Application to the stimulus, not definitions, carries the marks. Students who learn terminology thoroughly and apply none of it sit mid-range for the whole course and cannot see why.

Computer Science

Cambridge 0478; Pearson 4CP0

The theory paper is the cheapest source of marks and the most neglected. Pseudocode conventions and trace tables are drillable, and the tutor pool for this subject in Dubai is thin enough to make local-only searching risky.

Geography and History

Cambridge 0460 and 0470

Source skills and case-study recall in fixed proportions. Case studies are learnable in a term; source technique takes a term and then holds, which makes the order of work matter.

Arabic and Islamic Education

First-language and additional-language streams

Mandatory in Dubai private schools alongside the licensed curriculum, and streamed separately for Arabs and non-Arabs. Any support must work from the school's own prescribed material rather than imported content.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Format should follow the term you are in. These three cover almost every request that reaches us from this cluster.

Term-one weekly build

One lesson a week from late August, working through the syllabus in weighting order rather than textbook order. The cheapest and least dramatic version of tutoring, and the one that changes a grade profile most reliably because it has time on its side.

  • Same tutor and slot through the term
  • Content laid down alongside school teaching
  • Half-term review against school assessments
  • No exam-term price pressure

Post-mock repair block

Booked when term-two mocks come back, which is the best free diagnostic a family gets. A finite block aimed at the two or three topics and the one technique the marked mock actually exposed, finishing before teaching time runs out in March.

  • Starts from the marked mock, not a conversation
  • Two or three named topics only
  • One technique drilled weekly
  • Ends at the close of term two

Exam-term technique sessions

Short, frequent sessions in term three on whole papers under time. No new teaching, because new teaching in April rarely survives into the exam hall. Slots move daily during study leave to sit before the relevant paper.

  • Whole papers, strictly marked
  • Question-order and timing strategy
  • Morning slots on study-leave days
  • Re-sequenced to the paper order

01

The Dubai academic year, and what each term can actually achieve

Tutoring works or fails on whether the plan matches the term. The table below sets out the three Dubai terms with what each realistically delivers. The hard edge in it is the end of term two: for a June candidate, that is when teaching time ends, whatever remains unlearned. After it, the only things that move marks are technique, timing and recall.

Term one is undervalued. Nothing is at stake, the student is not frightened, and a weekly hour laid alongside school teaching compounds for sixteen weeks. It is also the cheapest time to buy: specialist tutors have free evening slots in September that they do not have in February. Families in this cluster overwhelmingly book in February, which is the point at which both the price and the availability have turned against them.

Term two is where the real information arrives. Mocks are the most accurate diagnostic a family gets without paying for it, and they are frequently misused: read as a verdict rather than as data. A marked mock sorted into content, technique and timing tells you exactly what the remaining weeks should contain, and sorting it takes an hour.

Term three is not a teaching term and should not be bought as one. A tutor still earning their fee in April is marking whole papers, drilling question order and fixing the five recurring losses the student cannot name. A tutor teaching new topics in April is spending your money on content that will not be retrievable under exam pressure.

02

What proximity buys, and what it costs you

This deserves a straight accounting rather than a sales pitch, because a parent typing near me has a real reason for it. An adult physically present supervises in a way a screen does not. They see the phone, the slumped shoulder, the page that has not been turned. For a Year 10 student with an attention problem rather than a knowledge problem, that is the actual service being bought, and it is worth the premium.

The premium is measurable. In-home one-to-one in Dubai is quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online. Monthly packaging makes it starker: AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month advertised for four two-hour in-home visits against AED 799 a month for eight online sessions. The gap is not a quality gap. It is the hour and a half a tutor spends in a car for every hour spent teaching your child.

The cost of insisting on proximity is choice and resilience. Restricted to tutors who will drive to Mirdif for one weekday slot, a shortlist for Cambridge 0580 mathematics is usable, a shortlist for 0620 Chemistry qualitative analysis is short, and a shortlist for 0478 Computer Science is often empty. It is also a single point of failure: one tutor, one car, and the lesson before a mock can simply not happen.

IB Gram resolves that by not offering home visits in the UAE at all. For a Mirdif family that means the trade is explicit rather than hidden. You give up the adult in the room, and you gain a specialist matched on syllabus code and a slot that cannot be lost to traffic. For most Year 11 students the trade is worth taking; for a distractible Year 9, the sensible mitigation is a visible laptop, a camera left on, and a parent within earshot.

03

Coverage and fallback: what happens if nobody is free

No competitor in this market discloses a coverage limit, which is strange, because every provider has one. A platform that always says yes is either very large or not telling you something, and the version of that which damages a student is the near-enough substitute: a general maths tutor given a Cambridge 0607 brief, or an A Level physicist handed a 0625 Core candidate in April.

Our position is stated before booking. Common subjects at common tiers are typically matched within a few working days. Thin subjects, especially Computer Science and some language combinations, can take longer, and occasionally nobody suitable is free in the window you need. When that happens we say so and you keep your money, which is a less impressive sentence than a promise and a more useful one.

The second disclosure concerns where the tutor is. Delivery is over live video, and a specialist matched to your child may be anywhere. That is the mechanism by which a Mirdif student gets a 0620 specialist at all, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. What does not vary is the time zone: lessons are scheduled to Gulf Standard Time around your child's actual week, including Ramadan and study leave.

The table sets out typical match times by subject band. Treat the right-hand column as the commitment that matters: what we do when we cannot deliver. Everything else on a tutoring site is easy to write, and most of it is written without a single number behind it.

04

Mock results are data, not a verdict

The most valuable document in an IGCSE year arrives free in term two and is usually read for thirty seconds. A marked mock is not a prediction. It is a list of specific losses, each with a reason, and the reasons fall into three groups that need entirely different responses.

Content not known is the group parents assume dominates and the one that usually does not. It needs teaching, it takes weeks, and it is the only group for which term two is the last available window. Technique not applied is the largest group in most scripts from this cohort: the student knew the material and answered a different question from the one asked, or wrote no method, or quoted at length and analysed nothing. That group moves in three to four lessons. Time not managed shows up as blank final questions and is a strategy problem with a strategy fix.

Sorting the script properly takes an hour and is the single highest-return hour of the year. It converts a grade on a page into a plan with named topics and a drill schedule. It also prevents the two classic mistakes: panic-buying three subjects of tutoring because the overall grade was low, and buying none because the overall grade looked acceptable while a 40 per cent component was being carried by a 70 per cent one.

A tutor's first lesson should be exactly this. If a prospective tutor is willing to start teaching before seeing the marked mock, that tells you what their lessons will be like for the rest of the term.

05

Checking whether your tutor is legally permitted to teach here

Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit, and a parent can check. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. MoHRE's own service page is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, lists no fees and a two-working-day completion time, and is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system.

Two things follow for a family in Mirdif. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws, so the question is a fair one to ask any independent tutor directly. And because the permit is free and takes two working days, there is no cost-based excuse for not holding one.

A separate rule catches a tempting arrangement. The permit carries a code of conduct that bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school, and in Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school. Treat that as press-reported and verify it against the current ADEK policy document; the practical point is that your child's own class teacher, privately, is not the arrangement to seek.

A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal animal again, needing a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram holds no such permit, operates no UAE premises, and should never be described as holding regulator approval of any kind. Any provider that implies otherwise is making a claim worth checking.

06

Grade boundaries, and why a 2 per cent gap feels unfair

Every IGCSE year produces the same conversation: a child missed a grade by a handful of marks, and the family wants to know how that is possible. Understanding how boundaries work changes revision behaviour, which is the only reason to explain it.

Boundaries are set after the papers are marked, per subject, per series and per tier, so they are not a fixed percentage and cannot be predicted from last year's figures. What that means in practice is that the marks nearest the boundary are the cheapest ones in the whole qualification. Three method marks recovered across a paper by writing down working is worth more than a fortnight of extra content, because content gains are spread thinly and technique gains cluster.

This is why the last fortnight should be whole papers, strictly marked. A student collecting two or three marks per paper that they were previously leaving behind is doing more for their grade than one revising another topic. The marks are already inside their head; they are being lost on the way to the page.

One more consequence. Because boundaries move, no tutor can tell you what mark your child needs, and anyone offering a target score is inventing it. What a tutor can do is name the five recurring losses on your child's scripts and remove them, which raises the mark whatever the boundary turns out to be, and does so whether the paper is sat in the June series or at a November resit.

07

Ramadan, study leave and the weeks that do not look like weeks

Two periods in the Dubai year break a weekly timetable, and both are predictable enough to plan for. During Ramadan, school hours shorten and the household's rhythm moves to the evening. For most IGCSE students the productive window shifts to after iftar, and a lesson there is worth considerably more than the same lesson at 16:00 during fasting hours. Because delivery is over video, moving a slot by two or three hours for a month takes a message.

Study leave is the other. Once it starts, the student is at home all day, and the best use of that is not six hours of solo revision. Two shorter sessions a week moved to the mornings, sequenced so that each sits the day before the relevant paper, is a far better structure. That re-sequencing is trivial online and close to impossible for an in-home arrangement, where each visit has to be slotted around a drive.

The third disruption is the school's own revision programme, which is usually announced late and lands on exactly the evenings a tutoring slot occupies. The correct response is to move the tutoring rather than to double up, because a student doing school revision at 15:30 and tutoring at 17:30 on the same day retains very little from the second.

Planning for all three at the start of the block is better than reacting to them. We ask at the outset which weeks are already compromised, and build the lesson count around the weeks that will actually happen.

08

The sixth-form decision that IGCSE grades quietly make

The eastern-suburbs arc contains both British sixth forms and IB Diploma schools, so a Mirdif student genuinely chooses at 16 rather than continuing by default. That makes the shape of the grade profile matter as much as the headline. A Level entry typically wants depth in three subjects; the Diploma wants six subjects plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS, and it is unforgiving of a weak subject because every subject counts.

The practical implication is counter-intuitive. A student with one weak subject and five strong ones is better placed for A Level than for the Diploma, where the weak subject still has to be taken and still contributes points. A student who is even across the board is well placed for either. That is worth knowing in Year 10, because it changes which subject is worth tutoring.

Mathematics is the subject that governs most routes. A Core or Foundation entry closes some A Level and Diploma mathematics options two years later, and a grade threshold missed by one in mathematics can redirect a whole plan. If a family in this cluster can only afford to tutor one subject properly, mathematics is usually the one with the largest downstream effect.

None of this requires tutoring, and it should not be presented as if it does. Schools in this arc have university counsellors who do this conversation professionally, and having it in Year 10 costs nothing. The only argument being made here is about sequence: decide the route first, then spend money on the subject that route depends on.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Mirdif

Families in the communities below share Mirdif's school arc and its afternoon traffic, so the term-by-term planning on this page applies across them without adjustment.

Al Warqa

Directly south of Mirdif. Mixed-board households are common here, so the four facts about board, code, tier and entry route matter more than usual before anybody is matched.

Al Mizhar

Across Al Khawaneej Road from Mirdif, with largely the same bus routes. Term-two mock dates fall in the same weeks, which is when demand for tutors in this cluster peaks.

Al Khawaneej

The outer edge, with the longest school runs. Students here are the last home in the cluster, so evening slots are the norm and morning slots become useful in study leave.

Nad Al Hamar

Closest to the Festival City schools, which means earlier arrivals and the only part of the cluster where a 16:00 secondary slot is dependable.

Dubai Festival City

Where several of the schools serving these suburbs sit. Children living here gain almost an hour a day over families in outer Mirdif.

Dubai Silicon Oasis

Apartments close to Academic City, and a common base for private candidates entered through centres in that area.

International City

Dense, with long bus runs into the school arc. Study-leave weeks free up whole days here, which changes what a revision block can cover.

Al Rashidiya

Metro-served and close in. The shortest commutes in this cluster, and the one area where mid-afternoon term-time sessions are routinely workable.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Mirdif

Mirdif and the inner eastern suburbs

The closest group of schools, running Cambridge and Pearson specifications between them. Mock weeks in this cluster fall in a narrow band in term two, which is when specialist tutors fill up and when booking late costs you the match rather than the money.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say which term you are in

The plan for term one and the plan for term three share almost nothing. Telling us the term, the year group and the date of the next thing that gets marked lets us say what is achievable before anybody is matched or any money moves.

  2. 02

Get board, code, tier and route in writing

Ask the school by email for all four, per subject. Mixed entry across subjects is normal in Dubai. Those facts decide which past papers are useful, and a tutor matched without them spends the first fortnight preparing the wrong specification.

  3. 03

    Send the marked mock

If term-two mocks have come back, that script is the plan. We sort every lost mark into content, technique and timing and tell you which group dominates. If the mock has not happened yet, the last school assessment will do.

  4. 04

Hear the coverage answer before you pay

Common subjects match in a few working days; thin ones can take longer and occasionally cannot be matched at all. You get that answer upfront, and for a subject like 0478 Computer Science we would rather decline than hand your child a generalist.

  5. 05

Free trial, then a fixed slot

One lesson at no charge with the matched specialist, and a slot held for the rest of the term once you are satisfied. Ask the tutor in that first lesson to mark a wrong answer against the official scheme; it is the quickest test there is.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The plan matches the term

Teaching time for a June candidate ends with term two. We say that before taking a booking in April, and an exam-term block from us is whole papers and timing rather than new content that will not survive the exam hall.

Coverage limits disclosed

If no specialist in your child's syllabus and tier is free in the window you need, you are told and you keep your money. No competitor in this market publishes a coverage limit, and the near-enough substitute is how students get badly served.

Proximity costed honestly

An adult in the room is worth something and this page prices it: AED 180 to 500 an hour in-home against AED 150 to 300 online, all figures published by named providers. We do not offer home visits in the UAE and we do not pretend the trade is free.

Permit questions answered, not dodged

The MoHRE private tuition permit is free, valid two years and listed at two working days. We set out who needs one and what to ask, and we make no claim of KHDA, ADEK or ministry approval, because IB Gram holds none.

Boundaries explained rather than predicted

Grade boundaries are set after marking, per subject and series, so nobody can tell you the mark your child needs. What a tutor can do is remove five recurring losses from their scripts, which helps at any boundary.

Built around the weeks that will happen

Ramadan, study leave and the school's own late-announced revision programme all break a weekly slot. We ask which weeks are already compromised at the start, and count the block from the weeks that remain.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Mirdif: your questions answered

Is there an IGCSE tutor near me in Mirdif who can start this week?+

For common subjects at common tiers, usually yes, and the match is typically made within a few working days rather than the same afternoon. Thin subjects such as Computer Science or Additional Mathematics take longer and occasionally cannot be matched at all in the window you need, in which case we say so. Delivery is one-to-one over live video rather than at your address, which is what makes a fast match possible: the search is not limited to people who will drive out to the eastern suburbs.

Does it matter whether the tutor lives near Mirdif?+

Less than it feels. A tutor four streets away is still forty minutes from your child at 16:00 once the school run is moving, and over video the distance is zero either way. What proximity genuinely buys is an adult in the room, which matters for a distractible younger student. What it costs is choice: the list of people willing to drive here for one weekday slot is short, and in some subjects it is empty. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE.

Which term is the last chance to fix something properly?+

Term two. For a June candidate, teaching time effectively ends in March, and term three is revision, technique and timing only, whatever remains unlearned. That makes the weeks after the mocks come back the practical deadline for anything that needs teaching rather than drilling. Families in this cluster typically book in February, which is both the most expensive point in the year and the point at which specialist tutors have the fewest free evening slots left.

How should we read my child's mock results?+

As a list of specific losses rather than a verdict. Sort every lost mark into three groups: content not known, technique not applied, and time not managed. In most scripts from this cohort the second group is the largest, and it moves in three or four lessons. Content needs weeks and term two is the last window for it. Timing needs a question-order strategy. One hour spent sorting a marked mock is the highest-return hour of the whole year, and it should be the tutor's first lesson.

Why can't a tutor tell me what mark my child needs for a grade 7?+

Because grade boundaries are set after the papers are marked, per subject, per series and per tier, and they move. Anyone quoting you a required mark is inventing it. What this means for revision is useful: marks near a boundary are the cheapest in the qualification, so recovering two or three method marks per paper by writing working down is worth more than another fortnight of content. A tutor can name and remove recurring losses; nobody can promise a boundary.

Do you ever turn families away?+

Yes, and the cases are predictable. If no specialist in your child's exact syllabus and tier is free in the window you need, we decline rather than substitute a generalist. We also push back when a family asks for a two-year syllabus to be covered in six weeks, or for three subjects at one lesson a fortnight, because neither produces a measurable change and both spend money for nothing. Declining a booking is less impressive than promising one and more useful.

Is my child's own school teacher allowed to tutor them privately?+

That is the arrangement to avoid. The MoHRE private tuition work permit carries a code of conduct barring the holder from serving students affiliated with their own school, and in Abu Dhabi ADEK's professional-ethics rules prohibit private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school. Treat the ADEK wording as press-reported and verify it against the current policy document. The practical answer for a Dubai parent is to look outside the school for paid one-to-one help.

How do I check that a private tutor in Dubai is permitted?+

Ask them directly, because the permit is free and quick, so there is no good reason not to hold one. The MoHRE private tutor work permit came in under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own service page lists no fees and a two-working-day completion time via its smart app, website and e-services. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no amount is published.

Can sessions move during Ramadan?+

Yes, and they generally should. School hours shorten, the household rhythm moves to the evening, and for most IGCSE students a post-iftar lesson is worth considerably more than the same lesson at 16:00 during fasting hours. Because teaching is over live video, shifting a slot by two or three hours for the month takes a message rather than a renegotiation of anybody's drive. We ask at the start of a block which weeks are affected and count the lessons from the weeks that will actually happen.

What should we do during study leave?+

Fewer, shorter, better-placed sessions rather than long days of solo revision. Once study leave starts the student is home all day, so morning slots open up and the block can be re-sequenced so each session sits the day before the relevant paper. That re-sequencing is straightforward over video and close to impossible for an in-home arrangement, because each visit has to be built around a journey. Whole papers under time, strictly marked, is the only content worth running in those weeks.

With one subject's worth of budget for a Mirdif student, which subject earns it?+

Usually mathematics, because it governs the most downstream routes. A Core or Foundation entry closes some A Level and Diploma mathematics options two years later, and a mathematics threshold missed by one grade can redirect a whole sixth-form plan. The exception is a student whose profile is strong apart from one subject that blocks a specific named course, in which case tutor that subject. Decide the post-16 route first with the school's counsellor, then spend on the subject the route depends on.

Does the Diploma or A Level suit a child with one weak subject?+

A Level, generally. Diploma students take six subjects plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS, and every subject contributes, so a persistent weakness keeps costing points. A Level allows depth in three chosen subjects and leaves the weak one behind. A student who is even across the board is well placed for either route. Because the eastern-suburbs arc contains both kinds of sixth form, this is a real choice here rather than a theoretical one, and it is worth making in Year 10.

How many lessons a week actually helps?+

One, done properly, for a single subject across a term. Two in a week on the same subject helps during a post-mock repair block or in study leave, when there is a specific deadline to work to. More than two is rarely productive for an IGCSE student who is also at school all day, and three subjects at a lesson a fortnight each is worse than doing nothing with the same money, because none of the three gets enough contact to change.

What do I get in writing after each lesson?+

A short note naming what was worked on, the specific loss addressed and the next target. That is deliberately checkable: at six weeks you can hold it against a real marked piece of school work and see whether the named thing moved. If it has not, the plan changes or the tutor does, and we raise that rather than waiting to be asked. No grade is promised anywhere, because no honest tutor can promise one, and a named loss that disappears from a script is the measurable alternative.

Tell us the term and the next marked date

If you are searching for an IGCSE tutor near me in Mirdif, the two useful facts are which term you are in and when the next piece of work gets marked. Send those, add board, syllabus code and tier from the school, and attach the last marked script. We will say what the remaining weeks can realistically achieve, tell you upfront whether a specialist in that exact syllabus is free, and run the first lesson over live video at no charge. No tutor attends a UAE address, no coverage claim is made that we cannot meet, and no grade is promised.
